What have I been doing instead of writing or classwork? Modding BG3 and making my OCs, of course!
I posted pics before when I only had the vanilla game assets available.
First is the story's interpretation of what Astarion looked like before turning. Yes, I accept other interpretations of what he looked like, such as different eye colors or even his hair color. This is not what I believe to be the most-likely scenario for canon pre-vampirism Astarion.
(If you don't care about my story's OCs, then don't bother with the read more break. It is there as a courtesy to those who just want Astarion as well as to avoid how loooong this post will be.)
Mods used: Toarie's New Character Creation Presets (Andrei head, which I'm fairly certain is a tweaked Astarion with no bite marks, clearer skin, etc), Vessnelle's Hair Collection (M3, it's still not what I wanted but it was the best I could find, his hair should be more like ringlets and in a higher ponytail and no/different bangs) Other settings: Pallid Tone 1 Skin, Elf Gold 2 Eyes, White 3 + 75% Greying (Grey Neutral 2)
Eletha Nightstar/Lorelai Irithyl
Mods used: ASTRL Hair Color Supplement (Eletha has some more greying/highlighting involved) Changes for Lorelai: Toned down the make-up that was making Eletha look "tired", two blue eyes, No scars, No piercings, Less aging, Hair is vanilla "Sorcha Curls" Notes: I ended up not changing Eletha pretty much at all, all I would change is making her lips thinner Character Notes:

Ok I have started what has to be the weirdest (and most heavily modded and headcanon-ed) BG3 run I will ever do. No companions, just Tavs and NPCs. It won't fully come together until Act 3, but let me paint you the picture.
Tav #1: Tiefling "circle of the stars" druid. A bit quirky, but a fairly sweet and normal guy. Romancing…
Zevlor: Tiefling paladin. You know him. You love him. He's doing his best. Will bring him around in Act 1 until the party, then pick him up again for Act 3.
Tav #2: Half-drow warlock with a vampire patron. Not technically a vampire spawn, but still bitey. Also summons ghosts when he plays music and sometimes accidentally explodes in a fountain of blood. Romancing…
Abdirak: Pain-loving human priest of Loviatar. Also main source of food for vampiric boyfriend. Presumably no combat skills. But he will whack you with a mace if you ask nicely. Will bring him around throughout the game. And…
Kar'niss: Drider who has lost his mind. Probably hisses at the sun. Probably also hisses at anyone who tries to hose him down. Potentially good in combat though. Will pick him up in Act 2. Not sure what to do with him in Act 3 since his big spider butt might alarm the city dwellers.
So I'm just imagining normal Tav and Zevlor sitting at camp, watching the three white-haired weirdos biting and whacking and hissing and bleeding and making out with each other, prepared with Revivify scrolls for the next time one of them accidentally kills another, wondering how they ended up stuck with this group to save the world with.
(My little Act 1 adventuring party. I love how Zevlor just looks tired, while Abdirak is like, "I'm here, I'm queer, and I may only have 21 hp, but I can cut you with my chiseled abs 😏")
Mods: Weeviljester's Ethereal Heads. Pretty Boys Head Presets by cedastarions. Ghouls Customization Compendium - Custom Heads Horns and Beards. Viking Hairstyle + Lilith's Armors by badwitch69.

Hello! When using Otis camera mod and the dof addon shader, do you turn off the games own TAA (anti-aliasing) like he recommended? And another question about same topic, how do you get the hair to look so good when taking screenshots? I turned of the TAA but still think my hair/beards look very low quality and cartoony :(( I noticed when turning off the games own TAA my graphics settings automatically lowered themselves, so maybe I need to fiddle with the graphics a bit.. Anyway if you have any ideas or tips I would highly appreciate them. Thanks! (Also you’re a gem for this community, so kind of you to take your time and help people out!!)
Hi anon,
There's a bit of a weird thing with the camera in cutscenes, where you generally have to have TAA or DLAA turned on or the freecam won't move and will instead move the time of day (it's really weird). I'm not sure if it affects everyone, but it's affected enough of us that we're kind of stuff having to use those options, so I play with TAA on (my card doesn't support DLAA), and I know quite a few others do too.
The best thing for getting great looking hair in BG3 is to use the IGCS DoF, because the way it renders frames to get the final scene smooths out the hair beautifully. The second best thing is hotsampling, because the more pixels rammed into a small space the smoother things look.
I hope you're having a great day, anon :)

So yesterday I spent a bunch of time recreating D&D characters in BG3 (after having downloaded a bunch of cc mods)
FYI I wasn't paying attention & didn't actually change Evie's stats/proficiencies/etc. to mimic her actual character sheet before taking the screenshot, but everyone else's info is as close to "canon" as I could get them.
1) Brenworne Flashwing - High Elf, Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Noble. I used her for a campaign in college that only had a couple sessions. One of my ironic characters (a high elf from a noble family but she slings around a big axe & hates nobility). I'd like to reuse her one day.
2) Carla - Hill Dwarf, Bard (College of Lore), Entertainer. Used in a completed campaign with friends from high school! She originally didn't have a beard but partway through the campaign I was like "she only shaves once it starts getting annoying to deal with" so she ended up with a bit of a beard.
3) Ebony Way - Tiefling, Fighter. Used in a two-shot modern campaign held over Roll20! Here she doesn't really look very close to "canon" at all but I originally designed her on Hero Forge. Another ironic character (tiefling fighter but she's sweet & kind & wears pastel clothes).
4) Evie - Changeling (usually disguised as human), Sorcerer (Death Touched), Haunted One. Also used in a two-shot campaign with college friends! And also another ironic character (Death Touched & Haunted but wears a pretty white dress and make her hair pink).
5) Isil - Half-Elf (half human, half high elf), Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline - Black)/Rogue (Thief), Charlatan. Not yet used & one of the rare characters that actually has a fair bit of backstory already. Also her scales usually only look like purple makeup & become black scales when she's using magic. No particular campaign preference, she's just kind of a fugitive & a mercenary.
6) Kallisto - Tiefling, Druid (Circle of Stars)/Rogue (Swashbuckler), Sailor (Pirate). The newest edition to my roster & not yet used! She also has a fair bit of backstory; ideally I'd like to use her in a campaign that starts with all the player characters having amnesia since that's where my backstory for her ends, but I can always adjust.
7) Qelira - Water Genasi, Ranger, Charlatan. Used in one campaign in college that only had like one or two sessions, then reused for another campaign that was technically also a redo of another more modern campaign. Qelira is my ADHD gremlin child & I'd like to use her again someday
8) Singe - Tiefling, Warlock. Not yet used. Her patron is a celestial being that actually made a pact with Singe's mother while she was pregnant with her. She died in childbirth & the patron raised Singe themself. I'm not sure how exactly I would fit her into a campaign, as I'm not sure why she would leave her patron. Something to discuss with the DM should I end up in a campaign that I'd like to use her for.
9) Vhinn Do'mtor - Air Genasi (child of a drow and a djinn), Rogue (Thief)/Sorcerer (Shadow Magic), Urban Bounty Hunter. Used in a campaign in college that fizzled out in "season 2". Part of me wants to reuse her one day, but I also don't think I could; she's kinda attached to that particular world in my mind. I did, however, make an alternate version of her where her mother never left the Underdark & thus Vhinn was born full drow (and named Vhana for the sake of differentiation). Her mother, Chalnitra, never liked drow society or Lolth & raised her child in the hopes that she might one day leave. Vhana, despite becoming a Cleric of Lolth (she is still a shadow magic Sorcerer as well, she gets that from her mother regardless of who her father was), does leave the Underdark. I imagine there would be some tension between her & other part members, & she wouldn't blame them for not trusting her. Regardless, who knows how long she can keep calling on Lolth's power before the goddess rejects her for turning her back on everything the drow stand for...
#tmi#i should see if i can make Vhana...#i love making d&d characters. really a shame that WoC keep doing rude shit though#i'd like to explore other ttrpg systems but from what i've seen most don't have such robust character creation#call of cthulhu's is decent but it's just human characters#i like having a lot of options to choose from without it being completely “do whatever you want there's no framework here”#i have other characters that i just haven't made in bg3 yet (notably Del who is a changeling but unlike Evie they aren't usually disguised-#-or Shel who's an aasimar artificer made bc my friend asked me if i wanted to play an antagonist in a campaign he was gonna run for his-#-friend but it never happened. also Lowan who's human & from a compelted campaign but her hair changes colors w/ her mood. I do want to-#-make Tamarie Percival who was my very first d&d character. i was only in a couple sessions of that campaign before it fizzled)

Oc flower asks for Cyrus- Sunflower, Violet, Wisteria
flower asks (thank you <333333333)
Sunflower - What name(s) were you originally thinking of calling your OC?
God, it's been so long since I made Cyrus, I can't remember anything else I considered? I initially made him ~2017 as the twin brother of my other Hawke, Belladonna, for an inquisitor!Hawke AU*. I wanted to give him a 'C' name to match with Carver, since I already had Belladonna & Bethany, as well as something sufficiently fantasy-ish and soft-sounding for my gold-hearted hunk of a warrior.** I might've also considered Cyril?
*No one asked but I had to abandon that idea after this version of Cyrus proved to be too much of a stabilizing influence on this version of Belladonna, countering her penchant for self-destruction to such a degree that the original character stopped working. I don't think I'll ever write them together again, but with their new and improved 2024 characterizations, they'd definitely make each other worse, not better.
**Original Cyrus was also human, bald, and heavily bearded asofjpf there were some. adaptations. when I decided to reuse him for sapphim & vaelsmod's (then) recently released Playable Elfs mod.
Violet - Do a voice claim for your OC?
I really like Nicholaus Boulton's voice acting for m!Hawke, it's hard for me to imagine anything different for Cyrus! I love that he also does the voice for Malcolm in the Legacy DLC, since Cyrus desperately wants to have his father's deep voice, whether via imitation pre-voice drop magic or approximation through voice drop magic. Also @/zevsurana has some great posts about how... performative and strained m!Hawke's red dialogue options sound, which I love as an additional detail for Act 3/post-Kirkwall!Cyrus & ranger!Cyrus. To the extent that the anger and aggression are real, they're also very much a coping & protective mechanism to try to keep himself safe.
Side note, now that I'm finally spending some time with another BG3 OC, it's wild how different some of the acting direction is across the voice presets. Voice 7 (Cyrus' voice) sounds way more tired & done with things than Yiseeril's voice (8). It's very fitting, especially for ranger!Cyrus.
Wisteria - Does your OC have a skill they'd like to learn? What is stopping them?
Varies depending on version/setting
When he's living in Val Royeaux between games, DA2!Cyrus spends a lot of time being frustrated that his brash sword & shield skill set isn't well-suited for Orlais. He tries to learn some more subtle rogue maneuvers from Varric & Zevran, but he never takes to it, being so utterly antithetical to how he's fought & conducted himself for all his life.
Both paladin versions of BG3!Cyrus (so pallybarb/Karlach & Halsin romancing timeline, and shadow sorc/Astarion romancing/turns into a sword timeline) want to further develop their Elvish, as it's a skill that has turned quite rusty in the ~century since his parents died. Pallybarb!Cyrus has a very willing & eager teacher in Halsin, though going to the Hells with Karlach has paused their lessons for the time being. Meanwhile, shadow sorc!Cyrus is a bit too distracted with the. Nonstop existential body horror that is this version of the game for him, so it's not something he's pursuing right now.
And ranger!Cyrus wants to learn to dance!! Though he has a complicated relationship with it, he loved dancing with Wyll sosososo much and wants to be able to do it well to give Wyll the dance partner he deserves and so they can show off in front of the other Baldurian nobles.

Current Activities in Gaming #226
Alternative title: My Christmas sale haul. I'll start with something that wasn't even on sale but still bought it at the same time as the others; Rogue Trader. Pretty much along the same lines as BG3, I don't expect to ever beat RT. There's also a lot of reports that Act 4 and beyond are a buggy breakable mess, which is similar to how BG3's act 3 becomes a lagfest for me because I'm still in the process of saving up for a new CPU/Motherboard so I can run newer games like Starfield. Quick aside about Starfield: The one saving grace of not being able to play it right away... I hear it's a fairly lackluster game. Perhaps by the time I am able to play it at all, the modding tools might be out and help liven it up. I certainly expect to get a ReShade because it LOOKS like dogshit from most screenshots I've seen. I don't want to play in a brown mess.
Back to RT; Much like BG3 I am finding myself doing some alt hopping to see how other class/archetype combinations behave. I also want one of everything; A heretic, a dogmatic, and the "iconoclast", a word I'm not familiar with but mostly means "helpful and supportive".
I have 20 hours played but have only gotten past Act 1 just last night on my "main" file. My main girl is a crime lord soldier, whose main job is being the team's backline sniper. She's very good at it, and when she CAN hit, she's the most likely to crit into very high damages. But she's the least capable of AoE. Her sniper can sometimes hit an enemy directly behind my target but that's it.
Next on the list is Evil Genius 2. Don't know much about it, screenshots and reviews remind me one of those "Dungeons" games I had where I had a bunch of minions build various functional rooms in order to do dastardly deeds. But if Zero Punctuation is anything to go by it sounds like EG2 spends too much time on the room building part and not enough on the dastardly deeds. Not sure if I'll like it but hey it was on sale.
We got Sipho next, which acts like Stage 1 of Spore but more robust. I played a few rounds of it and I'm still not sure I understand how to really build my own creature. Controlling them seems sluggish too, and I wonder if that will be more smooth as I get more parts.
Next up is Death Must Die, a survivor-like that follows the same Diablo-esque mood of Halls of Torment. If you liked Vampire Survivors I recommend both of these. Death Must Die is fun but it currently has a problem where one build is vastly superior to others, based around the "Mayhem" trait, if you can get it, it adds permanent damage for that run. I once got it up to 416% so I killed the map's boss in about seven seconds. That's gonna be nerfed.
We got Dome Keeper, which acts like that old digging game I can't recall the name of (but it was iconic for its era, I just didn't play it myself). You kinda play a bit of minecraft but your dome gets attacked every couple of minutes so you need to use the resources you get to upgrade it and fight them off. It's cute, finding it a bit difficult though.
Keeping the same theme here, Graveyard Keeper. Same developers as Stardew Valley which I really liked and most reviews state that if I enjoy Stardew than Graveyard follows a lot of the same beats. I just wish I could mod my bearded chud fellow into a girl but that doesn't seem to be available. Didn't play it for very long, I'll get around to it some day.
I -finally- got one of those Vampire Masquerade visual novels, a genre I don't usually care much for because there's not enough "game" in them. Sometimes one will add RPG elements and that catches my interest more. Right now I have "Shadows of New York", which I believe has a gal PC. I think the other ones you switch around like five different characters. I installed it but didn't play it.
I have Vectorio which I can't even get past the tutorial. I should probably refund that one. It's haunted my wishlist for so long but I have no idea what to actually do.
Got Hard West 2. Looks like another XCOM-like, as Rogue Trader is. Not installed yet. Low priority.
Startup Panic, another game dev simulator like. Not installed, low priority.
Crossroads: Anniversary edition has been on my wishlist for fucking ever but it's been locked to mixed reviews because apparently it's buggy to the point of unplayable for some people, and I'm just hoping I get lucky. The christmas sale finally put it on sale to an acceptable price so I nabbed it. Not even fully sure what kind of game it is, just an inn manager sort of thing.
Noun Town Language Learning. Installed but waiting for them to add Norwegian. I could get in there now and start a little bit of Japanese. One of my favorite things about learning other languages is watching movies and occasionally catching to see if the subtitles are accurate or not, which I can typically do with German even though I'm no longer remotely fluent in it (took German classes for a couple years in high school, those days are long behind me).
But I'm on a Norse lore kick lately and I want to be a little "closer" to it by learning Norwegian.
And that's a wrap!
