my bff since third grade posted on fb (many years back) she was doing no shave november (she knows it’s for men’s health awareness but i agree w/ her that there’s no reason for women to be banned from raising awareness when men’s sports teams wear pink for breast cancer etc) and asked if any of her other friends were participating. she got the most vile responses from both men and women but mostly straight men who also — bafflingly — tried to turn insulting her over it into a form of flirting. she’s an inspiring feminist and my partner in crime 4ever and she stopped shaving around then and never restarted. it shouldn’t have been as surprising as it was to me how sickened random ppl were over one young woman deciding not to shave for a month to raise awareness for cancer. i hadn’t thought about that in years until seeing this post and you’re 100% right. it should be a thing.

I think feminists on the internet should start something like Stop Shaving September or something to encourage women to stop fucking shaving

Like I know most of them are only shaving for social pressure and would stop if they weren't the only one doing it and it's just SO much easier to start saying shit like "are you doing Stop Shaving September this year?" To a friend instead of going out the blue "can you stop shaving with me please ?"
