Dang, it's been a while, but we're finally back with the "Beyblade Burst God AU x Epic: The Musical" crossover!
The next saga, the Thunder Saga, hasn't been released yet, but Jorge has been posting lots of sneak peeks about upcoming songs both in that saga and future sagas! We have a lot of material to work with, so we're going to keep this going!
I checked the lineup, and the next song is "Scylla"!
Tumblr media
(I’m actually impressed with how well this came out. I forgot how pen and ink can make a drawing look extra creepy.)
I drew Bisuke singing as Scylla, the monster that Odysseus and his men face in the water. I know Scylla isn't a god, like Tiresias from the previous Work Doodle post, but it’s my crossover AU and I make the rules.
Bisuke is the God of Fear, so he’s especially sensitive to places with high levels of horror. He’d be tracking Odysseus and his men for a good chunk of their journey, finding amusement and pleasure in their fear. Bisuke’s main job is to remind humans of their fears, so he’d be understandably ticked off when he notices Odysseus being persistent in his journey to get home, despite all the obvious dangers he faces. He would confront the Captain and his crew to remind them of their fears, and to show them exactly what their fears can do to them if they’re not on their guard.
To prove his point, he would transform into the crew’s worst nightmare: a monster with enough mouths to swallow each of them up in the blink of an eye.
(I would’ve drawn the transformation, but goddamn, it’s such a tiny notebook.)
Here’s the song that the drawing is based off of, animated by the incredible Gigi! The song isn’t officially out yet, so it’s only a snippet, but it’s still so cool! See you guys in the next Work Doodle!

I...I have a burning need to see Kurz + Ranjiro interaction, actually.
They both:
Have dumb tall blonde hair
Run a beyblade gang
Have little minion dudes with nearly identical names [Bisuke and Tobisuke]
Have the same sort of grungy-but-not-ACTUALLY-dirty aesthetic going on with the decor in their hideouts
They would either get along really well or gang violence would happen immediately.

Back to the God AU!
Here's Kurt!
Tumblr media
Kurt is the God of the Underground. As the patron of all illegal matters, he is a very shrewd and manipulative god - no deal goes down in his territory without him getting a cut out of it. In this regard, he is often compared with Suoh, the God of Blossoms and Thorns, but the flowery deity prefers not to associate with him.
He created the Underground, a vast network of secret hideouts and hidden roads where humans are free to conduct business as they please without interference from the other gods or law enforcement agencies - especially if that business can't necessarily be defined as "legal".
This entire crooked empire exists because of his influence, so of course he feels like he deserves a portion of the profits. As such, all those who dabble in the Underground are expected to offer him regular tributes in order to stay in his good graces. Everything he is depicted wearing is an example of such offerings: expensive furs, high end clothing, intricate jewelry, etc. In this aspect, he is often confused with Wakiya, the God of Wealth, much to the extravagant deity's chagrin.
If they miss a tribute, though, he calls on his associate:
Bisuke!
Tumblr media
Bisuke is the God of Fear. As the patron of fright, he very much enjoys watching others squirm in terror, and will cause such a reaction any chance he gets.
His job is to remind humans of their mortality, to fear what could happen that would bring their lives to an end. To accomplish this task, he often shape shifts into his target's worst fear to terrify them.
He usually resides where fear is the most potent, but he mostly resides in the Underground. Those who utilize the Underground's safety to satisfy their desires are always drenched in fear - of being caught by authorities, or of falling out of favor with Kurt and losing his veil of secrecy. And if Kurt calls upon him to remind the humans of their place in his territory, Bisuke is more than happy to spread a little terror.
What do you think of Gods Kurt and Bisuke?
And you better question where your loyalty lies, because Arthur is up next!

After the official release of the song "Scylla" during the Thunder Saga of EPIC: The Musical, I decided to do a little revising to my God AU version of the song.
I'd originally written that it was only a meeting between Odysseus, his men and Bisuke, the God of Fear, who attacked them purely out of spite for ignoring their fears. Now that I know the real story leading up to the song, I think some rewriting is needed.
In my God AU, the Sirens tell Odysseus that the only way to hide from Fubuki, the vengeful God of the Sea, is to travel through the one place where no god can interfere: the Underground. Only problem is the patron god, Kurt, requires offerings in order for humans to utilize its secrecy. Odysseus and his men have been on the water for twelve years, though. They have no riches they can present as offerings.
Although, if the legends are true, riches aren’t the only form of offerings that Kurt accepts…
So Odysseus sets their course for one of the few known entrances to the Underground. Once inside, he orders for Eurylochus to light up six torches. He refrains from telling his men that the torches mark the only offerings he can make for Kurt: human lives.
As soon as the torches are lit, a face appears from the shadows.

And behind him, like a loyal dog, looms his terrifying tax collector:
