7, 9, and 20 for the end of year asks!

7. favorite actor of the year— interpreting this as “favorite performance” so as not to just say cary elwes or glenn howerton again, the two performances that stuck with me most this year were demi moore in The Substance and kieran culkin in A Real Pain!!! both of them were emotional powerhouses in these respective roles, with moore’s anger and resentment SIMMERING in the substance while culkin in A Real Pain feels like a beautiful, raw open wound.

9. best month for you this year— probably either august or april!! in august, i got to be on barricade at a blink-182 show in my home city, my friends and i all went on vacation in new mexico, and i got engaged!!! in april, i got top surgery, which was HUGELY exciting, and then i got to spend the next two weeks on vacation! i haven’t gotten any breaks or vacations from work longer than a week since graduating college, so i REALLY enjoyed having so much time to relax and hang out at home.

20. what’s something you learned this year— i’m learning how to stand up for myself and communicate better, especially with my parents! i’ve been in therapy for almost two years now, and it’s REALLY gratifying that i can start to see how it’s paid off for me in my personal life and relationships.

Helgen - Who was your first Skyrim character? Do you still make anything with them/play as them now? My first character I've played was a character called Jebi Se, they're a purple argonian and while they look like Slips they are not a beta of Slips. I just really like Purple Lizards. They weren't like an OC so I don't really make anything with them, I would still play them though but they broke after I messed with some mods, O7 Silly Gooberson.

Blackreach - What's your favorite enemy in the game? What's your least favorite? Why? Falmer. They're adorable and fun and I love the lore behind them! My least favourite is. Idk, Dragons? They always show up for me at the WORST time.

@bethrnoora pics aren't the best because it's been preserved in a jar for a little over a year now, but there's a ton of these guys around campus. they make HUGE webs, easily two or three feet across. i can't find the pics i took when this little guy was still alive, but its coloration was bright yellow all over except for the cephalothorax, including the legs, which had distinct brown/black bands. no hourglass shape on the underside, though.

i think it shrunk in the jar. i remember it was difficult for me to get it in there initially, because the legs were just a tad too big to easily slip past the mouth of it, but i was able to pull it out with room to spare this time around.

it's a fairly big spider. i'd say about 10cm when measured diagonally, maybe a little more.

unrelated: in the process of trying to see if i could identify this species with a little more certainty, i discovered there's a genera of jumping spiders called Popcornella. which i find very endearing :3

5. how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics? — he definitely prefers to dress on the ornate and classy side!! it started as a ploy to maintain his family’s historical image of being rich and influential and pretty, and trying to infiltrate vampire society has only strengthened that impulse. he wears a lot of light colors in keeping with the vampire fashion of this setting (light colors=more prominent bloodstains), and he prefers to wear 21st century-styled suits, as opposed to some vampires who like to wear fashion from bygone times.

19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off? — declan is CONSTANTLY pissy LMAO, but he tries not to publicly lose his temper because he knows that it’s unbecoming and he can’t afford to do anything that might compromise his social standings. making fun of his family’s recent financial and business misfortunes will piss him off in a hurry.

hohohoo this is gonna be fun

I am the only person in my family (that I know of) who actually likes reptiles. Everyone else is either terrified of them or thinks they're disgusting, no matter how many times I explain that no, despite what they believe they are not "slimy."

While I've travelled to quite a handful of countries with my family prior to the pandemic, I myself never set foot in the Americas (everyone else in my immediate family has though).

I have 5 plushies of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon, all of which I acquired between 2014 and 2022... before watching the actual movie last summer. Maybe I watched it back in the day but have no memory of it... I do remember watching the second one when I was younger tho.
