[NZ-RT07] Durch den Morgennebel von „Glinks Gully“ ging es Richtung „Waitākere Ranges Regional Park“. Auf dem Weg stieg die Sicherung des Campers aus. Japanische Gebrauchsanweisung. Ein Traum.. Mit der geballten Kraft des McFlurry wurde das Ganze überstanden. Tagesziel war der weitläufige Strand von „Bethells Beach“. Tag 36- Waitakere Ranges und Bethells Beach ⛰🌊🌴

Hallo meine Lieben,

Tag 36 erzählt eine Geschichte welche wahres Abenteuergefühl aufkommen lässt. Ich bin durch einen Bach gelaufen, habe Sanddünen erklommen, an einem Wasserfall zu Mittag gegessen, einen Strand besucht und gelernt wie essentiell nette Nachbarn sein können.

Mach dir eine schöne Tasse Tee oder Kaffee und ich erzähle dir in der Zwischenzeit von meinem Abenteuer.

Alles begann am Sonntag morgen als man mich fragte ob ich „keen“ sei einen Spaziergang zu machen. Keen ist eins der Lieblingswörter der Kiwis, welche ihr Englisch von dem anderer Länder differenzieren.

Ich sah aus dem Fenster. Grauer Himmel aber trocken. Also dachte ich mir „Klar warum nicht.“ Man sagte mir ich brauche Wasser, eine Regenjacke, Wechselkleidung und ganz wichtig: Sonnencreme und einen Hut. Ganz im Ernst Leute. Mit der Sonne ist hier nicht zu Spaßen und selbst ich, die sonst nie braun werde habe hier nach ca. 7 Sonnentagen mehr Bräune und Sommersprossen als in 4 Wochen bei 40 Grad in Deutschland oder sonst jemals zuvor in meinem Leben. Ich bin mal gespannt was ihr sagt, wenn ihr mich wiederseht 🙊💁🏻‍♀️.

Die Wechselkleidung hat mich zunächst ein bisschen stutzig gemacht aber ich dachte. Naja gut, wir wollen danach in ein Restaurant. Wahrscheinlich sollte ich dort einfach nicht in Sportleggins hin. Oh man, ich hatte ja keine Ahnung 😂

Kurzer Tank-, und Kaffeestopp zuvor und dann konnte das Abenteuer losgehen. Es ging für uns zunächst zu den Waitakere Ranges, einem Regional Park westlich von Auckland.

Die Fahrt dauerte circa eine Stunde und je weiter wir fuhren, desdo ländlicher wurde es. Am ehesten würde ich es beschreiben als eine Mischung von amerikanischem Landleben wie man es vielleicht aus Serien wie Dallas kennt, gepaart mit der Natur Cornwalls. Wir fuhren über enge Straßen mit Brücken, welche zwar zweispurig angefahren wurden aber immer nur von einer Seite gleichzeitig befahren werden konnten, vorbei an riesigen Farnen und Pferderanchen welche an den Wilden Westen erinnern, inklusive weißem Lattenzaun. Schlussendlich verloren wir auch kurz vorm Ziel das Handysignal und einem wurde noch mehr bewusst wie sehr man sich im Nichts befindet. Nur die Natur und man selbst. Als wir später im Park standen und ein Hinweisschild lasen war es für einen Moment komplett still. So etwas habe ich noch nie gehört.

Bei dem Park angekommen fanden wir einen Parkplatz und ein Hinweisschild welches die verschiedenen Routen aufzeigte. Wir entschieden uns natürlich für die längste, welche und durch alle möglichen geographischen Zonen füren sollte.

Das war es dann aber auch mit der Hilfe und den Hinweisschildern. Vergesst die markierten oder sogar gepflasterten Wege, Hinweisschilder an jeder Ecke und Parkmitarbeiter. Dieser Regionalpark hat ein Hinweisschild und ein Plumpsklo am Ende des Pfades. Das wars. Hier ist man wirklich noch Teil seiner Umgebung und auf sich gestellt.

Außerdem gehört der Park jedem was beispielsweise bedeutet, dass man überall Wildcampen darf und es keine ausgeschriebenen und bezahlten Campingplätze gibt.

Man erlebt hier also noch ein echtes Stück wilder Natur was das ganze gerade für mich Stadtkind noch umso spannender gemacht hat.

Wir starteten also unsere Wanderung. Der Großteil der Wege bestand aus dem schwarzen Sand, welcher typisch für die Westküste Neuseelands ist, oder Geröll.

Nach ca. 5 Minuten endete der Sandpfad plötzlich und es boten sich 2 Optionen an: Entweder über eine riesige Sanddüne laufen oder durch einen Bach. Jennifer und ich entschieden uns für den Bach während Isaac die Sanddüne hochrannte.

Also stand ich nun da und es hieß ab in den Bach für mich mit Schuhen und allem 😂😂 Das ist ein Gefühl sage ich euch. Das Wasser war zum Glück nicht alzu kalt.

Nun war ich also nass und plötzlich hieß es, dass ich doch noch eine Sanddüne hochmuss. Das war ein Akt kann ich euch sagen. Zum Glück gibt es keine Fotos von meinem Versuch hochzukommen sondern nur dieses Foto:

Sieht ziemlich cool aus oder? 😎 Was es nicht zeigt ist dass ich mittlerweile nicht mehr nur Nass sondern auch noch paniert wie ein Schnitzel war 😂

So ging es dann weiter für den Rest der Tour, vorbei an wunderschöner Natur in vollkommener Abgeschiedenheit.

Das war mal richtig entspannt. Die Uhr war egal, niemand konnte einen erreichen, also hat auch keiner aufs Handy geguckt. Man war einfach im Moment.

Neben diesem Wasserfall haben wir Mittag gegessen 🙏🏻☺️ Das ist der erste Wasserfall in meinem Leben den ich sehe und richtig wargenommen habe. Es war cool 🙊

Nach ca. 2 Stunden hatten wir den Loop Track geschafft und den ganzen Park erkundet. Wir wollten als nächstes noch kurz zu einem Strand fahren und danach etwas essen gehen. Soweit der Plan.

Wir kommen also bei unserem Auto an und der Kofferraum geht nicht auf... mhm.. komisch aber okay. Kommt vor. Jennifer dreht den Schlüssel um und.. nichts. Sie hatte das Licht angelassen und die Batterie war platt.

So standen wir also da: Nass, sandig, erschöpft, mit leeren Flaschen und kilometerweit Weg von jeglichem Handysignal. 😟

Da wird die Ruhe plötzlich zum Albtraum. Wir also zur Straße, aber keiner hielt für uns an. Do ging das eine ganze Weile und man spürte dass selbst die eingesessenen Kiwis langsam unruhig wurden.

Dann nach geschlagenen 30 Minuten kam er: unser Retter im silber glänzenden Fahrzeug: Jack.

Er schloss die Starterkabel an, unser Auto aus dem Jahr 1998 sprang zum Glück direkt an und wir waren gerettet. 🙏🏻

Die Moral aus der Geschichte: Starterkabel und ein Kanister Wasser sind essentiell hier unten.

Ich dachte wir fahren jetzt direkt zum Restaurant um die Batterie zu laden aber.. wir waren ja extra den ganzen Weg zur Westküste gefahren und Jennifer war fest entschlossen, dass ich unbedingt einen West Coast Beach sehen muss.

Also ist sie so nah es geht zum Strand gefahren, ich bin rausgesprungen, zum Wasser gerannt und habe euch dieses Foto gemacht:

Ich muss zugeben der Strand war ziemlich cool. Die Strände an der Ostküste (wie bei meinem Haus hier) sind ruhig, haben goldenen Sand und haben super flaches, ruhiges Wasser. Der Strand hatte schwarzen Sand, die Wellen waren riesig und das Wasser tief und unruhig. Perfekt zum Surfen also. 🏄🏻‍♀️

Im Gegensatz zu Stanmore Bay, wo man auf den Hauraki Golf, einer Bucht mit Zugang zum Pazifik, guckt, schaut man hier auf die Tasmansee. Auf der anderen Seite dieser See liegt Australien, was ein beeindruckender Gedanke ist.🇦🇺 Ich hatte aber wenig Zeit mir darüber Gedanken zu machen, denn das Auto war ja immernoch am laufen und man wartete ungeduldig auf meine Rückkehr. Also habe ich einen letzten Blick auf die See geworfen und mich erstmal verabschiedet.

Das Auto war zum Glück noch am laufen als ich wiederkam und so setzen wir unsere Reise fort, zurück in Richtung Zivilisation, zum letzten Ausflugsziel des Tages dem „The Boat House“- Neuseelands ältester Taverne neben einem Fluss. Das „The Boat House“ ist eine Mischung aus Restaurant, Live Musik Club und Bar. Mittlerweile ist das Klientel eher gehoben aber früher war es wohl mal ein beliebter Bikertreffpunkt. So ändern sich die Zeiten 🤷🏻‍♀️

Das Essen war fantastisch, vor allem nach den ganzen Ereignissen des Tages. Ich hatte eine Pizza mir Rucola, Schinken und Wallnüssen mit echten Büffelmozarella. Ein Traum sage ich euch und genau das was ich nach dem Tag gebraucht habe. Dazu gab es ein Glas Apple Cider, einem alkoholischen Getränk aus Äpfeln, welches sich vor allem in Großbritannien und seinen (ehemaligen) Kolonien großer Beliebtheit erfreut. Auch in Deutschland ist es mittlerweile zu haben und wirklich empfehlenswert. Es ist super erfrischend und leicht säuerlich.

Nach unserem Essen ging es nurnoch nach Hause, unter die Dusche und dann aufs Sofa.

Aber auch nach über einer Woche finde ich immernoch überall Sand und denke zurück an mein erstes richtiges Abenteuer hier. 😂😂

Ich weiß es ist in letzter Zeit ein bisschen stiller hier geworden aber es ist einfach nicht viel besonderes passiert und ich habe vor allem gut zu tun und versuche einfach hier präsent zu sein. Immerhin ist jetzt schon Halbzeit auf der Arbeit. Kaum zu glauben, oder? 😱

Ich plane hier momentan das gesamte Ferienprogramm für das nächste Jahr und habe einige Marketingaspekte übernommen. Ich wurde sogar schon gefragt ob ich meinen Besuch nicht verlängern kann. 😅😂

Das kommende Wochenende wird aber um einigendes spannender, denn es geht zur Bay of Islands wo wir eventuell eine Delfintour machen. 👀
