and daryl hated how right beth greene was. he hated how much of an impact a teenage girl would have on his life. she really helped him see the good in people, and appreciate the seemingly insignificant things in life that he’d usually look past. he never would’ve thought a sheltered christian girl could be so right about him. and the fact that she could see through him so well, it made him feel so vulnerable, but in the best way - like he was meant to be seen all along. beth helped daryl to see life in a broader range of color.
he hated how right a young girl could be. and he hated how much he missed her and her effervescence toward the positive prospects life had to offer.
because he never had the luxury of developing the mindset that she had when he was her age.
Daryl Season 2: “Hell, I was younger than her when I got lost. Nine days in the woods eating berries and wiping my ass with poison oak. My old man was off on a bender with some waitress. Merle was doing another stint in juvie. Didn’t even know I was gone. I made my way back though.”
Daryl Season 3: “My mom, she liked her wine. She liked to smoke in bed. Virginia Slims. I was playing with the kids in the neighborhood; I could do that with Merle gone. They had bikes. I didn’t. We heard sirens getting louder. They jumped on their bikes. Ran after it, you know? Hoping to see something worth seein’. I ran after them but I couldn’t keep up. Came around the corner I saw my friends lookin’ at me. I saw everybody lookin’ at me. Fire trucks everywhere. People from the neighborhood. It was my house they were there for. That was my mom in bed. Burnt down to nothin’. That was the hard part. She was just gone. Erased. Nothin’ left of her. People said it was better that way. I don’t know. Just made it seem like it wasn’t real, you know?”
“What about when we were kids? Who left who then?”
I didn’t know he--
“Yeah, he did. He did the same to you. That’s why you left first.”
I had to, man. I would have killed him otherwise.
Daryl Season 4: “I never eaten frozen yogurt. Never had a pet pony. Never got nothin’ from Santa Claus! Never relied on anyone for protection before! Hell, I don’t think I ever relied on anyone for anything!”
Daryl Season 5: Finds and takes a book called Treating Survivors of Childhood Abuse
Daryl Season 9: Of all the trusted adults at Hilltop it’s Daryl who Carol asks to look after Henry. He ends up looking after Lydia too.
Daryl Season 10: Of all the trusted adults at Alexandria it’s Daryl who Michonne asks to look after her children while she’s gone.
Daryl Season 11: Working a crappy job so he can make a home for Judith and RJ where they can be safe, have regular meals, access to good healthcare, make friends and get an education. Takes them to the fair. Buys Judith a record player . . . realizes he’s gotta overthrow the government the moment it threatens his and Rosita’s kids.
I never really pointed out what this account is. A lot of it is bad lip reading, twd memes, actresses. Just funny shit like that - I'm honestly not sure why I decided to name the account what I did, but yeah😭
So, I'm rewatching again and I randomly thought about something.
With the way Beth took care of Judith during the whole prison era and the amount of songs she sang to her (very much on screen!), how did they miss the opportunity to have her sing "Hey Jude" by the Beatles to her?
I feel like it's such an obvious choice and would sound so pretty as an acoustic version.
I was explaining Beth's death to my bf and I realized in my tired ass state how fucked up Grady memorial really was ...
Like to put it in the shortest amount of words possible the people they grabbed and held at the hospital were basically turned into slaves to be able to earn back their points or whatever to them be able to leave
But the system is so purposely flawed that you're literally never able to earn enough to actually be able to leave.
But they have them being basically their slaves and then Dawn, wants Noah, a young black man, to be given back to her. THAT'S FUCKED UP
HERSHEL STOOD THERE IN THE GARDEN OF THE PRISON FEELING MORE PEACEFUL THAN HE HAD IN MONTHS. there was an endless overlooking gloom and doom over their group for so long that he had almost lost in hope in having a stable, regular life filled with love and positivity but all that had changed in, what seemed like, a blink of an eye. he could now see a future for his daughters, a future mankind itself. in this garden is where he felt the most of that; life was growing here in more ways than one.
HE COULDN'T DO MUCH IN THE WAY OF GARDENING BUT WHEN HE HAD THE ENERGY AND AMBITION TO, HE PUT HIMSELF TO WORK. of course, his daughters were always concerned for his health and energy but if all he did was sit around and do nothing, that would do more a number on his health than plucking a few weeds and planting a few seeds. he had to do something to contribute. he heard @dontwalkwiththedead shouting from behind him and he couldn't stop the soft chuckle that emitted under his breath. he struggled to stand back up from his knees but he successfully did so and turned to look at his daughter trotting down the hill to him. “ how 'bout instead of scolding your old man you give him a hand ? i only got one foot, you know ” he teased with a bright smile illuminating his face. his heart was full seeing his daughter feel safe enough to tread through the field without a care in the world. that's what he kept on living for.
