Not to defend Lu Guang's hypocrisy, but.
Can you imagine losing your best friend and deciding not to save them, knowing that you have the power to? And not only making this decision once, but day after day for the rest of your life? Being aware that you could go back at any given moment, and still persistently choosing not to? Can you imagine ever moving on? Living with yourself? Going about your day with the knowledge that not only did you let them die, but you're also continuing to let them die at all times by not doing anything? Can you imagine not going insane?
#I think maybe that would be possible if this was a one time decision that you'd have to make on the spot.#maybe the rational thought of endangering everyone else in the world by altering the timeline could be enough to keep you from doing it#but when you're a natural time traveler...#at some point there'd be a moment. when you'd be laying in your bed at night thinking about this person#remembering. looking at their picture. and the grief and the longing would get the best of you#and no sense of moral responsibility would be able to stop you#link click#moje#time travel is such an interesting concept because it kinda destroys the meaning of things like death#a normal person has no choice but to accept death. but could a time traveler ever do the same?

You ever wonder what you would do if you ended up in trevat?
probably the most fun thinking exercise i've had for a bit hahah
ended up rambling on for like five minutes so it's under the cut
assuming this is an unnanounced isekai of sorts where i wouldn't want to touch the plot with a ten foot pole (bc that sounds far more interesting than just- what if i lived there),
plan a) book it to liyue harbor avoiding wangshu inn just in case xiao can sense i'm not from teyvat, convince uncle tian to let me sleep in his boat until i have money (he looks like he'd let me in exchange of stories), become a storyteller, tell stories from a faraway land (any and all stories from here, be it plots of books, movies, fanfics, whatever man), profit, make casual friends w beidou to lower the chances of ningguang sending yelan to look into my untraceable past, try not to make it obvious i know zhongli knows i'm not from teyvat (if he ever appears by my storytelling corner) and ensure he likes my stories (this will boost my corner's reputation), buy a house outside chihu rock, befriend xiangling by sharing recipies from here, learn liyue recipies and how to use teyvat ingredients from her, befriend a gaggle of millelith by feeding them 'new and interesting foreign dishes' bc the fastest way to a man's heart is thru his stomach – they will now ensure the area around my house won't get jumped by random treasure hoarders and slimes or geovishaps, travel around once i've made enough money, always return to liyue and live out a chill life w the millelith's protection, the qixing not interested in bothering w me, and zhongli unbothered by my unthreatening presence
plan b) book it to fontaine. this could go two ways depending on if i break some random law immediately upon arrival: b.1) if i don't break any law then i befriend navia by sharing baking tips w her n convice her to let me stake it out at the spina's outpost in fleuve cendre until i make money, write mystery whodoneits (hello recovered manuscript bootleg sherlock holmes) for starting cash and then slowly make the switch to villaness novels w extra mystery (you can't tell me they wouldn't be a hit there) thereby avoiding the likely fierce market competition of plain whodoneits and gaining more fame, profit, buy a house in the countryside to reduce the chances of breaking a random law by reducing the amount of gardes around, keep in touch w navia n be rightfully grateful to her (this will keep the spina on my side), befriend the melusines by sharing stories n cooking tips (they can try me w their weird concoctions) n thus further lowering the chances of me getting randomly arrested, live a chill life (also travel around n stuff obviously) with furina/focalors entirely uninterested in my existance, the gardes and neuvillette seeing me as a normal citizen, and the just-in-case friendly connections to the phantoms via the melusines and the spina via navia (and maybe the surveillance patrol if chevreusse likes my novels) b.2) if i do break some random law immediately upon arrival or too early into plan b.1, then i plead guilty and get sent to meropide (nobody down there will ever bother to look into my untraceable past and trying to argue innocent will only bring attention i likely can't afford), work dilligently until i've made enough friends among the staff, become the prison's storyteller and bard and gain credits like that, become a friendly face nobody will have any interest in harming and likely won't dare to bc i'll have made friends w all sorts of prisoners by then (plus why would you want to fuck with the guy who's literally only singing songs and telling stories. like nobody else is doing it. half the prison would jump you i think), stay down there after my time is up for the same reasons i chose to go down, hopefully be a nice helpful prisoner and a welcome fixture in the fortress, live a quiet and chill life
and lastly, the last resort plan c) book it to mondstadt, beg charles for a gig at the angels' share, sing covers of songs from here and pass them off as melodies from distant lands, avoid venti and his knowledge of music like the plague, avoid kaeya and the knights like the plague also before they realize i'm not From There, get a house in springvale, if diluc ever bartends then try to subtly let him know i'm w him on the knights issue, hopefully this raises my chances at becoming part of the staff of the tavern n the likelyhood of the rest of the staff helping me avoid the knights' suspicion, ideally just live a quiet life in springvale, if by some miracle diluc decides to hire me for the winery then go there instead and live a quiet life as one of the workers, the main objective here is to fly under the knights' radar and position myself in life in a way that venti won't either want to, be able to, or feel the need to get curious about me and try to make contact (i realize dealing w music is counterproductive to this but it's the only gig i can think of that'd work there, would require no starting budget, would allow for flexible hours so i can skedaddle if needed, i wouldn't suck ass at, and would get me a step closer to who is likely going to be my only and/or most accessible ally in staying away from the knights: diluc)
#this is all also under the realistic assumption that i don't get a vision#even if i do that probably won't change any of the plans tbh#the best strategy to surviving is to not stand out 👍#also as soon as i spot the traveler i'm taking a trip to a nation they already went to LMAO

The rain was loud, covering the already quiet footsteps as a figure approached an overhanging. Underneath the simple wooden roof was a man asleep in a pile of hay alongside a chocolate colored dog, who was curled in a tight ball and snoring loudly.
The hooded figure stood over the pair a moment, taking the sight in, before walking under the awning. The figure pulled back the hood covering their face, revealing a Sheikah woman. She kicked lightly at the bottom of the man’s boot.
The blonde man flinched in response, eyes fluttering open. He stiffened, hand reaching for a sword that lay beside him, when he paused at the sight of the woman. He squinted in confusion a moment, clearly recognizing she was Sheikah and likely not a threat as a result, but unsure what else to make of her.
“Interesting place of rest,” the woman noted.
Link blinked blearily, growing slightly annoyed. “Can’t really rest if you’re waking me up, ma’am.”
The woman chuckled at that. “Ma’am? Do you truly not recognize me?”
Link blushed a little, flustered and embarrassed. He huffed to cover it up, looking at his companion instead. “I meet many people on my journeys.”
“It’s fine,” the woman said easily. “You were recovering when you saw me most. That was many years ago.”
Link squinted into the dark rain, trying to place what she was talking about, when it hit him like a moblin club. His eyes widened and he looked back at her, recalling palace walls, a healer, a Sheikah guard— “Lady Impa?”
Lady Impa gracefully nodded her head in acknowledgement. Then her smile faded a hair. “The years don’t seem to have been kind on you. It’s dangerous to be alone, in the dark and vulnerable like this. Why are you sleeping here?”
Link huffed again, though with slightly better humor. “My companion will alert me if there’s danger.”
Friend snored helpfully, her lips and paws twitching as she dreamed. Link felt Impa’s scrutiny magnify, and he blushed. “She knew you weren’t a threat!”
Lady Impa hummed, crossing her arms. Friend snorted loudly, startling herself awake, and then registered there was another person there. She barked shrilly, hair standing on edge for a moment, before her tail started wagging so hard it might as well have flown off her wiggling butt. Impa’s gentle amusement bubbled into outright laughter as the dog started licking her hands in greeting.
“A great guard dog, I see,” she commented, petting her.
Link huffed a third time, good humor fading. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m searching for the princess. She disappeared, though the queen has a good suspicion she ran away. It’s my job to track her down. I don’t suppose you might know where she is, would you?”
Link considered her words a moment. He didn’t exactly have an inkling on the princess’ location, only that she was trying to track him ever since he saved her and her friend. He supposed relaying that information would be helpful.
He was tired and grumpy. He wasn’t feeling helpful.
Besides, helping Impa might drag him into more royal nonsense. Better she figure it out for herself.
“Not a clue,” he finally said, rubbing his face tiredly to hide his expression. “I’m glad you’re in good health, Lady Impa, but perhaps you can leave me to sleep now?”
Lady Impa watched him far longer than he liked. He felt himself shrivel inward a hair, as if he were still that seventeen-year-old boy again who had saved Hyrule and barely knew how to deal with the consequences. He debated just getting up and finding somewhere else to sleep, but it was far too bloody cold for that.
“This night has quite the chill,” Impa finally said, making him glance at her in bewilderment. “You shouldn’t be sleeping outside.”
Link stared at her dully as Friend flopped on his lap to get some pets. “This area is quite comfortable, thanks. And Cupcake here will keep me warm.”
Impa’s face warmed as she smiled at his words, but she was still stubborn. “Come with me, Hero. I’ll buy you a room at the inn.”
Link felt his body stiffen. He didn’t want to deal with people. He didn’t. “I’m fine here.”
“Is this a matter of pride? If you don’t have the rupees, it’s fine. I said I’d buy you the room,” she continued relentlessly. When Link didn’t reply, she cocked her head to the side, hand on her hip as she watched him discerningly. “Or is it simply that you don’t wish to be near others?”
Link sighed, biting his lip and looking down.
Lady Impa crouched down in front of him, petting Friend some more. Friend’s tail thumped cheerily on the ground in response, and she rolled onto her back on Link’s crossed legs. Impa chuckled at it, her face gentle and kind, and she turned her gaze to Link, now at eye level with him. “I’ll do the talking, Link. Just come out of this dismal weather.”
The invitation was clearly not negotiable, and Link was shivering now that he was more awake. Sighing heavily, he nudged Friend with his leg, urging her to get up. She flipped to her feet quickly, shaking herself and panting excitedly as she looked between the two. Link slowly rose, cracking his back and neck and pulling his cloak more tightly around himself. Lady Impa led the way, heading towards the village where he’d been lingering in the outskirts. The group made their way in silence (though Friend did find a deer to chase, as well as a puddle to dig in) before Impa guided them to the inn close to the center of the village. Link hugged himself under his cloak as they entered, hovering near the exit with his beloved companion. Friend sensed his anxiety and remained close, sitting down and leaning her weight on his legs.
Impa only argued very briefly with the innkeeper concerning the dog, paying a little extra for unexpected damages, before guiding the two upstairs. Link looked at her glumly when the room revealed two beds.
“I do have to sleep too, you know,” she noted easily, taking off her cloak. “There aren’t single rooms here. At least you’re not with a stranger.”
“This was just a trap,” Link grumbled, though he too stripped off his outer clothes, which were now soaked. Friend moved to jump on the bed, but Link caught her first, cleaning her paws and fur of mud as much as possible. Then she proceeded to take the entire mattress.
Lady Impa laughed at it, settling into her own bed. “Good night, Link.”
For his part, Link didn’t try to be too grumpy anymore. She had bought him a warm place to sleep. Sighing heavily, he wrestled for space (and the blanket) on the bed, settling into a comfortable position as Friend stretched and yawned. “Good night, Lady Impa.”

I need a completely rewritten teen wolf series with Derek Hale as the main character. I think it would heal me.
#we follow Derek from New York. Laura left for beacon hills. it’s been six years since he was back but he hasn’t heard from her#and hes going stir crazy waiting. he packs up and travels back. it’s almost too much immediately. he still can’t get a hold of Laura#he can’t resist going home. it’s like a natural pull that guides him back. all at once he’s 16 again. staring at the wreckage of his life#deputy stilinski is sherrif now. it’s reassuring in the slightest that the police force seems to have moved on from how corrupt it was#he catches her scent and it’s putrid. bile catches in his throat. he seeks it out. still in denial to what he knows it means.#when he finds Laura it’s like the world ends all over again. he can’t stand to see her like this. he gives her a proper burial.#the best he can do at least#he visits Peter. he’s not the man Derek remembers- so full of fire and cunning. their relationship may have been strained at times.#often Derek felt more like Eve being swayed by the snake than a normal friendship#but this isn’t the sharp tongued uncle who guided him. this is a broken shell. all that remained of his family. he was so lost.#22 but he barely knew how to function without his family- his pack paving the way#Laura handled everything. she got the apartment. she made sure they had food. Derek looks back and feels so useless#he was so lost in his grief. Laura must of felt the same way but she never let them drown in it#she made sure he got his GED. even got him to enroll in community college classes.#he took them online. he never was able to warm up to people the same way. he used to be so full of life. now he just wanted to be left alone#he studied English. never finished his degree. doesn’t look like he ever will now. he can’t go back to Laura and his shared home.#can’t bare to see another shell of a home#he vents to the vacant audience of Peter and his cold fixed eyes#Derek leaves. he wants to promise he’ll return soon#but promises feel costly these days#he decides to go back to the reserve. maybe he can find some clue as to what happened to Laura#someone lured her here. someone who knew them and their history here#his mind went to the worst. Kate. why would she go through the trouble six years later. why wait so long.#Derek couldn’t stomach the thought of facing her. he focused on the woods. the scents were all over the place.#clearly multiple people had been through here recently. two scents were much stronger. Derek follows them#but when he hears the crunch of leaves he realizes why the scents are so strong. they’re still here#he ducks behind some trees. listening in on their conversation. but an echo of their scent catches his attention#he spots an inhaler on the ground. he puts two and two together and swipes it from the leaves.#he comes out once they’re closer. tossing over the inhaler- he figures they’ll leave. dumb kids messing around in the woods#he reminds them this is private property. though that may not be true anymore. he recognizes the scent of a new beta. interesting.

I love NAE and I know he is a bit (well, more than a bit) of an antagonistic cretin, but it feels like his anti-social personality might be a coping mechanism for personal issues and insecurities he is struggling with. I could be completely wrong and he's just simply a bad person, but I feel like it's more than that. Either way I think he needs a therapy animal.
hoyly hell you've just given him characterization shots in so many directions that i don't know where to look first GJDSKLMCL
he's not exactly antisocial or anythin! antagonistic cretin he is, but that's just how he rolls, lil bit of a douche- have you seen that one vid with a guy walking his Emu hold on here- he embodies this in most situations
youtube
on one hand NAE is a lil shithead but he's a Fun shithead. cursin' up a storm is kinda just what some people do/how they interact. heavens know that when i bring out the curse n nasty words it means i'm havin a nice chill convo with someone
after this
he went and notified his own Admin/Mechanic about it so she could've go and help out Sparrows with things
if he was just Plain asshole stuff like this wouldn't happen
these two hang out, Euros gets a rise outta him by bringing up something painfully stupid, NAE calls him a fucking idiot with an apocalyptically low count of neurons and then they continue their hang out
he's neither a bad person or coping with his own issues/insecurities! he's just a tiny ball of rage who's rolling through life wishing he had one more finger so he could flip people off. bastard is prolly the best off outta the dramatic tragedies that are most of the Eo iterators
guy is guying 🤷♀️
n honestly he'd... probably kick an animal sooner than take one on for therapy reasons, he would Not have the patience
#spot says stuff#rw#oc tag#not callin ya stupid or anythin! gon say that to make sure since this could come off as such- everyone will perceive chars in their own-#-way n thats valid. just with ocs i do kinda feel the need to correct a wee bit since i know 'em best n have the power to do so#but nah NAE is kinda one dimensional in that he doesnt have much drama/tragedy going on#one of the main things about the characterization that he Does have is that he Would step in front of euros to protect him from smth#like imagine some other iterator givin euros shit in the off string post ascension au. euros is goin thru it with the rot in his puppet#hes tired he struggles with just standin n so on. its a lot without someone comin at him n yellin into his face. NAE wouldve traveled with-#-him to the Root since they are neighbours. yah hes putting himself between the two!#see Gem n Expiation r prolly the ones who get closest to bein villains. n thats by denying n ignoring Spores dire condition#the whole 'busting sparrows n euros' business is in similar vein like with candace in pnf the consequences dont really come to him for that

Anyways the last time I remember dreaming about zombies unfortunately had a long tangent in the middle about my stupid fucking squids. Being autistic sucks what do you mean the middle of my intense nightmare about trying to survive the apocalypse everything paused for a minute so I could look for stupidass figurines and argue with a minimum wage employee that I could pay her back for the squid merch I was gonna steal when the apocalypse ended and everything went back to normal.
#the time before that didnt even have actual zombies in it.#the time before I wasnt a character in the dream- i was just watching#There were two women and a young girl they were traveling with- none were related but they were working together to survive#and the entire dream was about them finding a camp of survivors and having to deal with potentially getting split up- esp the girl#the older women weren't guarenteed a spot there- nor were they guarenteed connections with the girl- especially when she got sick#so the entire dream was essentially this extended argument over what was best for everyone and how even if they werent biological family-#-they could allow the girl to be separated from them bc they were the closest to family she had
