Understanding Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, leading to inflammation. This inflammation can cause significant damage to the joint cartilage and bones over time. Symptoms of RA include:
Joint Pain and Swelling: Persistent pain and swelling, particularly in the hands, wrists, and knees.
Stiffness: Especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity.
Fatigue: General feeling of tiredness and lack of energy.
Fever and Weight Loss: In some cases, RA can cause low-grade fever and unintended weight loss.
Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in managing rheumatoid arthritis effectively. At Shri Bone & Joint Clinic, we employ a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive care.
Our Treatment Approach
Diagnosis: Accurate diagnosis is the first step in managing rheumatoid arthritis. Our specialists use a combination of patient history, physical examinations, blood tests, and imaging studies to diagnose RA.
Medication: We use a variety of medications to manage RA, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and biologic agents. These medications help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and slow disease progression.
Physical Therapy: Physical therapy plays a crucial role in maintaining joint function and mobility. Our skilled physiotherapists work with patients to develop customized exercise programs aimed at strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and reducing pain.
Lifestyle Modifications: Managing rheumatoid arthritis also involves lifestyle changes. Our team provides guidance on diet, exercise, and stress management techniques to help patients live healthier lives.
Surgical Interventions: In cases where joint damage is severe, surgical options such as joint replacement or synovectomy may be considered. Our orthopedic surgeons are proficient in performing these procedures, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients.
