Ex-Driver Profiles: Sergio Perez
Updated December 2024
Name: Sergio Michel "Checo" Pérez Mendoza
Age: 34
Nationality: Mexican
Years in F1: 14 (2011-2012 Alfa Romeo Sauber, 2013 Mclaren, 2014-2020 Force India/Racing Point, 2021-2024 Red Bull)
Number: 11
WDCs: N/A
Driving Style: Perez is most well know for his patient and defensive driving style. He regularly is able to hold off stronger and faster cars behind him for extended periods of teams, meaning he holds position well and also is an asset while defending his teammate. Perez is also known to have great tire management skills, often patiently waiting until his rivals tires wear out before going on the attack with his better-maintained ones. He is also excellent in complex weather conditions, including full wet and wet-dry. A downside of Perez's style is that he struggles with consistency and setting a qualifying pace. He often is outpaced and out qualified by his teammates, especially his current one.
History:
Born not to a legacy racing family but involved in racing nonetheless, Perez began his karting career in 1996 when he was six years old. In his first year of competition he achieved four victories in the junior category and was 2nd in the standings as a rookie karter. In 1997, he participated in the Karting Youth Class, where he was the youngest driver in the category, and had a positive year, finishing 4th in the championship. The next year, in 1998, he would become the youngest driver to win the championship in that same category.

(Perez in karting)
In 1999, he raced in the 80cc Shifter category, finishing 3rd in the championship. He actually was too young to race in this category, but obtained special permission to do so and was the youngest driver to achieve a win in the category. In 2000 he would go on to do much of the same, regularly being the youngest in the categories he race din. He would soon draw the attention of various sponsors and national racing organizations. The next few years of his career would yield similar positive results, though he did not win any titles.
In 2005 Perez moved from Mexico to Europe in order to compete in the German Formula BMW ADC Series. His first year in this series would not yield super positive results, but he would improve in the 2006 season, improving to 6th in the standings. In 2007 he would switch into Formula 3 for the first time. He competed in the National Class and would win his first title that year. In 2008 he would compete again, but only get 4th in the standings.

(Perez racing in Formula BMW)
Pérez joined GP2 in 2008 for the GP2 Asia Series 2008-2009. He was the first Mexican driver to compete at this level of motorsport since Giovanni Aloi took part in International Formula 3000 in 1990. He would show significantly positive results in this series, bringing home multiple podium finishes and sprint race wins. 2009 he would switch to the main 2009 GP2 Series. Pérez finished 12th in the standings, with a best result of second coming at Valencia. His 2010 run in GP2 would be a lot better, ending the season 2nd in the standings.

(Perez after a win in GP2)
Late 2010 it was announced by F1 team Alfa Romeo Sauber that Perez would be joining their team for the 2011 season. Through this, Perez became the 5th Mexican to compete in F1. During the time of the announcement, he also became a Ferrari Academy Driver. Perez had a relatively average rookie season with Sauber, finishing in points positions a few times. He would finish that year 16th in the standings after. bad crash knocked him out of three races. 2012 was a better year for Perez, as he achieved his first podium in Malaysia, and two more during the season. He finished the year in 10th, above his teammate.

(Perez on first podium)
In 2013 Lewis Hamilton vacated the Mclaren seat and Perez was announced as his replacement, ending his relationship with the Ferrari Driver's Academy. He would have a middling year withe Mclaren, his highest finish being 4th. He would also have friction with teammate and WDC Jenson Button, who described his driving style as 'overlyaggressive'. Perhaps this is why later Perez evolved into a cautious and patient driver.

(Perez, right, with Mclaren teammate Jenson Button)
In 2014 Perez would join Force India, and solidify himself as a midfield driver. For a majority of his career with the team he would be a steady driver, most often outpacing his teammates. He achieved a few podiums with them, but also had moments of disaster, famously suffering several crashes throughout his time. He outlasted the Force India name, and was retained when the team became Racing Point in 2019. He would achieve his first win with Racing Point at the 2020 Bahrain GP, an energetic race that allowed him to show his skill. All in all, his time with midfield teams yielded good results for him, often outperforming his teammates and pulling the car to higher positions than it should be. That year it was announced that he would be joining Red Bull for the 2021 season, replacing Alex Albon.

(Perez after first win)
His time with Red Bull would be a mix of bad and good. During this time, he would regularly achieve podiums and a few wins. In 2021 he would finish 4th in the standings. While this was deemed a positive result, his teammate finished first and it put some scrutiny on Perez. 2022 saw Perez finish 3rd in the standings, behind his teammate in 1st and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. That would also be the year he achieved his maiden pole position, at the Jeddah GP. 2023 was his best year in F1, being one of few drivers to win a race that year other than Max Verstappen. He would finish 2nd in the standings behind Verstappen, and help Red Bull win another WCC. He would also help Red Bull win their first ever 1-2 in the championship.

(Perez with teammate Verstappen, 2021)
2024 was a very bad year for Perez, having multiple DNF's, crashes, and no points finishes. This was especially pronounced because his teammate Max Verstappen won the drivers championship that year, while he only finished in 8th, the biggest teammate gap since the 90s. This led to Perez losing his seat for the 2025 season, being replaced by Liam Lawson.

(Perez on the podium at the 2024 Austria GP)
Major Races:
2012 Malaysian GP - Perez's highest finish of his career then, and his first pole position. He displayed excellent tire management, completing a long stint and maintaining a competitive pace.
2014 Bahrain GP - His first podium with Force India. Perez displayed his famous defensive driving, holding off much faster cars for the entire race.
2020 Bahrain GP - Perez's first win in his last year with Racing Point. He had the greatest comebacks in his career, after being spun to the back of the grid. It was a remarkable race as he battled his way to 1st, and is the race that won him His Red Bull seat.
2021 Baku GP - His first win with Red Bull. Baku would become a track that he is known for competing well around. He held off Lewis Hamilton (who was fighting his teammate for the championship) the whole race. Many attribute his win in Baku as a major part of Verstappen's first WDC.
2022 Monaco GP- Monaco is famously a tricky circuit, and he raced extremely strategically, outmaneuvering both Ferrari's to win. It was also yet another race where Perez showed his skill in wet-dry conditions.
Cheers,
-B

Interviewer Bhavna Agarwal: What’s the best part about performing in a brand new country, because this is going to be your first set in India?
Louis: I don’t know what’s going to happen tonight, but as always, at a moment like this, in a new country, or a new place you’re playing in, you don’t know what’s going to happen! I know prior to my experience what normally happens in this situation, but I have no idea! I could be like walking out and there would be five people there just nodding their heads and not really bothered. I hope it’s not gonna be like that. But the point being, it’s nice going in with not huge expectation. I’m kind of confident that by the end of the night I’ll feel really good about it all. It’s just I don’t know what to expect, you know.
Interviewer: What’s one lyric that you’ve written that you’re really proud of, or that gives you chills even now?
Louis: The first thing that comes into my brain is there’s a lyric in Saturdays saying, “No matter how much you want it, somethings change.”
Interviewer: Ooo, yeah.
Louis: I think it’s one of those things that’s quite a general statement, but when said in the context of the song, it really hits home. It feels really relatable, I think. That one always gives me the chills, actually.
Interviewer: Looking back at your journey, what’s the one thing that ‘past Louis’ cannot believe about the ‘present Louis’?
Louis: I’d say my whole solo career, to date. There was definitely a long time where– not that I didn’t think that I could succeed, I just didn’t really know what life post-One Direction would look like. Like how last year went, and the touring last year, way beyond my expectations! Even being here, you know, when I said to myself when I first left the band that I was going to come play a festival at Lollapalooza in India, I would’ve told you to fuck off. No, but I feel really, really liberated by that. And honestly, this is like an age-old thing that artists say about fans, and it’s always true, but I think it’s even more relevant and even more true in this thing. I wouldn’t be here, and I wouldn’t be here in India without the fans, without the support, and without years and years of creating that opportunity for me, and my whole career has been like that. I think there’s a really beautiful relationship between me and the fans that… to me, it feels like 50-50. It’s like, I’ll give my 50%, and they always give their 50% and more. And together we create this kind of beautiful thing.
Interviewer: So, because I obviously don’t have a lot of time, I’ll ask you. This is going to be a very short visit for you. Can we expect you to— I want to get this on record— can we expect you to come back for a solo concert? Or perhaps just to spend more time in India?
Louis: I will say for sure, for sure. When? No idea. But definitely, definitely. If you’ll have me, I’m back. 100%. Because I think all in, I’m here for 48 hours. It’s very short. Hopefully we’ll get a good advert out tonight, and be back at some point.

Dirty little secret.
Jackie Kennedy x Female!Fashion Designer!Reader (I have issues ✨✨)

Summary: Being a fashion designer in 1972 for Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis isn’t half bad!
Warnings: Younger!Female reader, affairs, reader has some internalized homophobia, Jackie is a cougar in this idk leave me alone. This is all just for fun. Don’t take this seriously and come for my throat 😭
Tag list: @quietamericans, @vixenihy, @jackiesgirl (Tell me if you want to be apart or removed from my tag list!!)
author’s note: i NEED her.
Based on this confession! <3

“Thank you again for the dress.” Jackie thanks, staring up at you as she hangs up the gown in her closet. “You’re quite talented.” She praises with a grin, her breathy voice is stunning to listen to. It’s like an old song. “It’s a bit of a shock you have such a vintage taste given your age.” She jokes, looking back at you with her hands on her hips.
“It’s no problem, Mrs. Onassis.” You say, watching her admire your work, and then you smile as she praises you once again. She always does it. She knows what makes you blush, smile, and laugh. You then roll your eyes playfully as she implies how young you are—you’re only twenty-five after all. “I inspired it off one of your outfits about ten years ago.” You share with her.
That peaks the former first lady’s interest as she sits in a chair with her legs crossed. Wow, she looks beautiful today with a blouse and some white slacks. She then tilts her head. “What outfit?” She asks, trying to think of which one. A fashion icon, yes, but even she can’t remember everything she’s worn.
You blink in shock at her question and she reach into your bag, digging around for a couple seconds before you pull out a picture of Mrs. Onassis in 1962. She’s wearing a peach dress with white gloves and of course, a three strand pearl necklace. You then hand it to her to let her look at. “I think this was your trip to-“ She talks over you.
“India, yes. Your attention to detail is marvelous.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Onassis.”
“I’ve always admired you, you know.”
That makes your cheeks heat up just a bit, a light shade of pink brushing across your cheeks. You’ve always had somewhat if a crush on Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, but you’ve always tried to push it away. It’s not right to like a woman! No, you need to marry a man. That’s God’s plan, this? Absolutely not. You then clear your throat. “Thank you.” You mutter, not looking at the former first lady.
Jackie then stands up, putting the picture on her small table, inching towards you. She’s quite tall, but she isn’t towering over you. She’s can do that in heels, but not in the flats she’s wearing. “Your work is just so intriguing… and you are as well.” She praises, looking into your eyes.
Your face heats up a bit more at her praise and then you smile. Wow, she’s really pretty—Ugh, nope! Not doing this now. You need to get out of there, and it needs to be fast. You then reach for your bag. “Thank you, Mrs. Onassis, but I have to go now. Ring me up if you have another request.” You say swiftly, putting your purse on your shoulder, moving to exit her bedroom.
“Ah, I see… it’s a shame you have to leave so soon. I do enjoy your company, Y/N.”
She isn’t making this easy.
You turn to look at her. Her beautiful features. Her eyes, her lips, her body. All of it, it makes you so hot. You then look at them, your face heating up once again. “Well, I don’t want to interrupt you and Mr. Onassis, so it’s best if I leave.” You excuse, even if Aristotle is a drag to be around.
Jackie laughs softly, it’s intoxicating—she is intoxicating. “He won’t be home for a little while! You’re welcome to stay.” She says, walking towards you, putting her hand on your forearm, brushing her hand around it delicately. “If you’d like.” She finishes.
“Mrs. Onassis—“
“Jackie, Dear.”
“… Jackie, I, I just-“
“You just what? I see the way you look at me. It’s obvious.”
Are you serious? She knew this whole time? What the fuck? Whatever, just play dumb.
“What are you… what are you talking about?” You sputter, backing up towards the door, but you don’t want to leave, but you have to. This isn’t right. She’s so fucking breathtaking. One more look and you’re on the floor. If you hear her speak one more time, you’re never getting up.
Jackie continues to smile softly. “You have feelings towards me—an attraction.” She tells you, and she’s not wrong. Far from it. God, you thought you had it together. Never. You never do for Jacqueline Onassis.
“… What are you saying?”
“I’m saying I feel the same, Y/N.”
After a moment of silence, you pull the former first lady into a loving kiss, and she’s taken back for about three seconds until she kisses you with just enough passion to overwhelm you. She’s been wanting this too. She then pulls away, blinking.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be, it was rather nice.”
“So… uhm—“
“You better not tell anyone… This is our dirty little secret.”

Singapore Unlocked: A City of Wonders
Singapore is more than just a destination. It is an experience wrapped in cultural richness, futuristic architecture, culinary delights, and lush green spaces. For travelers looking to explore a place where tradition meets technology, choosing a Singapore tour package opens the door to a journey like no other. From families to solo adventurers and honeymooners, Singapore offers something for everyone, making it one of the most sought-after destinations in Southeast Asia.
A Singapore trip promises more than sightseeing. It is a deep dive into a country that has transformed itself from a fishing village to a global metropolis. From the moment you land at Changi Airport, recognized as one of the best airports in the world, you know you are in for something special. The efficiency, cleanliness, and hospitality of the city are evident in every detail, making it a welcoming place for visitors from all corners of the globe.
One of the first places most visitors explore is Marina Bay Sands. This iconic resort complex is home to a hotel, an upscale mall, a museum, and the famous SkyPark Observation Deck that offers panoramic views of the Singapore skyline. Whether you choose to dine in one of the celebrity chef restaurants or simply enjoy the view from the infinity pool, Marina Bay Sands is a must-see.
Just next door is Gardens by the Bay, a futuristic park that combines technology and nature in stunning ways. The Supertree Grove, with its towering vertical gardens, lights up beautifully at night, providing a dazzling show of color and sound. The Cloud Forest and Flower Dome offer cool, immersive environments featuring rare plants and mist-filled mountain scenes.
For those interested in culture and history, a walk through the neighborhoods of Little India, Chinatown, and Kampong Glam offers a deep look at the diverse communities that make up Singapore. Each area showcases its unique heritage through temples, mosques, street art, and local eateries. Do not miss a meal at a hawker center, where you can try local favorites like Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, and chili crab. These centers offer delicious, affordable meals and are a reflection of Singapore’s multicultural spirit.
Singapore is also known for its shopping and entertainment. Orchard Road is a shopper’s paradise with high-end boutiques, department stores, and local brands all in one place. For something a little different, visit Haji Lane in the Arab Quarter, where quirky shops and colorful street art offer a unique urban vibe.
Sentosa Island is a top destination for families and adventure seekers. This resort island is home to Universal Studios Singapore, SEA Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, and beautiful beaches. Whether you are ziplining, relaxing on the sand, or exploring underwater worlds, Sentosa promises fun-filled activities for all ages. It is easily accessible by cable car, monorail, or footbridge, making it a convenient day trip or even a base for your stay.
Nature lovers will appreciate the many green spaces in Singapore. The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. You can stroll through its themed gardens, including the National Orchid Garden, or enjoy a picnic on the open lawns. The Southern Ridges and MacRitchie Reservoir also offer hiking trails through tropical forests with views of the city and native wildlife.
For a more local experience, consider exploring neighborhoods like Tiong Bahru and Joo Chiat. These areas blend the old and new with art deco buildings, trendy cafes, and traditional Peranakan culture. Tiong Bahru is known for its charming bookstores and bakeries, while Joo Chiat offers a deeper look into Singapore’s Peranakan heritage with its colorful shophouses and vibrant cuisine.
Singapore’s public transport system makes getting around easy and affordable. The MRT connects most major attractions, and buses fill in the gaps. The city is compact, clean, and safe, making it ideal for travelers who enjoy exploring on foot or by bike. The efficiency of the transport system means you can experience a lot in just a few days without feeling rushed.
Nightlife in Singapore also offers something for every taste. From rooftop bars like Ce La Vi to waterfront restaurants at Clarke Quay and live performances at the Esplanade, the city comes alive after sunset. You can enjoy a quiet evening walk along the Marina Bay Promenade or dance the night away in a world-class nightclub.
The best time to visit Singapore is generally from February to April when the weather is relatively dry and pleasant. However, the city is a year-round destination due to its consistent tropical climate. Major events like the Singapore Grand Prix in September or the Chinese New Year celebrations offer added excitement for those planning their travel around specific experiences.
Planning your trip is made easier with a variety of Singapore tour packages available online and through travel agents. These often include hotel stays, attraction tickets, and guided tours, giving you a stress-free way to enjoy your vacation. Whether you choose a luxury getaway or a budget-friendly escape, Singapore offers excellent value for the experiences it delivers.
In conclusion, Singapore truly is a city of wonders. With its blend of nature, culture, modern attractions, and warm hospitality, it continues to surprise and delight every kind of traveler. It is a place where every corner tells a story, every meal is a celebration, and every moment invites you to explore more. So if you are looking for your next unforgettable adventure, consider unlocking the wonders of Singapore. Your perfect journey awaits.

Every year at this time I can’t help but think about this boss I once had who would not let her kids have any Xmas. She would spend a huge chunk of money for Xmas gifts for her best friend and also to make up these ridiculous gift packages full of cheap plastic crap from Oriental Trading Co. to send out as promotion to clients. She’d even drop decent money on her employees for a holiday party. And then she’d drag her kids (they were both under 12 the years I worked for her) and husband off to Thailand or India for these whirlwind vacations -traveling overnight on trains and all sorts of stuff for two weeks over the break.
Every year when it was time for the kids’ school holiday pageant she’d bitch up a fucking storm about how stupid it was. One year I heard her asking her kids if they’d care if she didn’t go because it was boring.
Neither of those kids ever got a single Xmas present. Her son would cry every year, beg for a Xmas tree, ask why they couldn’t stay home, etc. I felt so sorry for that kid.
He has got to be college age by now. I hope he’s found a way to have the Xmas tree of his dreams. And I hope someday he has a family of his own and he can have the Xmases he always wanted with them.
Both of those kids were born in Los Angeles and neither one of them ever got to go to Disneyland either. She hated it, thought it was “stupid” and “boring” as well.
And this was an older mom. Had those kids on purpose. But goddamn if her wants didn’t ALWAYS came before theirs. If her housekeeper/nanny couldn’t stay late to watch the kids so she could go drink champagne at Chateau Marmont on any given night it was a tragedy. Wasn’t very nice to her husband either. Every year she leased a brand new Mercedes station wagon for herself but the husband had to drive an old banger 1992 Honda because she felt he didn’t need a nice car” and “it would be wasted on him”.
She was a real piece of work. Why do people like that even have kids?

COBRA KAI DR. "Lookin' at you got me thinkin' nonsense"
Written by Doja Cat, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Videoclub + Lana Del Rey
Born April 5th 2007 at 11:11 PM, seventeen year old Avi is the most energetic person you'll ever meet (plus the oldest child, I have a single little sister). Raised by my father doctor and stay at home mom, I spent most of her childhood glued to a half broken ipad. I'm like a literal copy and paste stereotypical ENFP mixed with sarcastic undertones. A junior in 'West Valley Highschool' with a solid 3.9 GPA, with somehow eight missing assignments in math. Friends close to me say, "She's the one who's always talking out loud in English."
What does a stereotypical teenage girl do in a highschool surrounded by karate maniacs?
Actually i doesn't do karate. Ironic isn't it? Imagine living in the town known for karate and the 'All Valley' only to not be involved in anything. Being friends with Miguel since 7th grade and friends with Sam since Freshman, I've spent time in the dojos. Not doing anything of course, just sitting on the sidelines going on my computer working (no that's a lie I'm on games or Tumblr). Not interested in karate, I stayed for my friends so I could chat to them for longer outside of school. I used to alternate days, with one day being spent at the Cobra Kai dojo while the next being spent at the Miyagi-Do dojo. But now I just spends time at any dojo whenever she wants. Mainly just spending time in Miguel or Sam's dojo. (Mostly with Miguel)
Self proclaimed eastern chipmunk, found in the wild.(or found at Barnes and Nobles)🦌
Standing at 5,3 ft with warm brown skin, I'm often be found at the middle of class photos. Pure Indian, with both my parents being Indian and from India. I got them powerful anti aging Asian genes. Dark brown hair, and I mean DARK brown hair. People often mistake my hair for black until they see it in the light. Semi dark brown eyes, with light pink lips. Always decked out in vintage jewelry in gold and silver. Don't even get me started on clothes, I have the best taste. Duh.
lowkey got lazy so I'll make other posts later... if ur an og you'll know this is a updated dr post to my old ck dr :3

Minerva Warwick
(india ria amarteifio, twenty-eight, cis woman, she/her) you do not know me but rest assured i know you, LADY MINERVA WARWICK NÉE DAVIES. you are the YOUNGER SISTER OF LADY GRANT. you maybe be known for your LIVELINESS but it is only a mask for the true nature of your SELFISH ways. however, i am not here to spread slander on the queen’s jewels, though i suspect you are her GRANDIDIERITE. the ton says your name reminds them of HOURS SPENT IN FRONT OF A MIRROR GETTING READY, A SMIRK MIXED WITH A JUDGEMENTAL GAZE AS YOU PASS BY SOMEONE YOU HEARD RUMORS ABOUT, AN EXPENSIVE NECKLACE THAT YOU CHERISH IN ORDER TO USE IT AS BRAGGING MATERIAL ABOUT HOW MUCH YOUR HUSBAND LOVES YOU. how scandalous! you have been warned, dear reader, that i will prove if this is true and share every last detail. (gisele, 27, est, she/her, triggers: none)
Full name: Minerva "Minnie" Catherine Warwick née Davies
Nicknames: Minnie, Min, Mimi
Age: 28
Birthday: May 6th
Zodiac: Taurus
Title: Lady
Orientation: Heterosexual & Heteromantic
Status: Married
Family: Humphry Davies (Father), Hannah Davies (Mother), Lady Millicent Grant (Older Sister), UTP siblings, Lord UTP Warwick (Husband), Lord Joshua Warwick (5 Year Old Son), Lord UTP Grant (Brother In-Law), Mister Arden Grant Olivier (Brother In-Law), Miss Sienna Olivier (Sister In-Law)
Biography (abuse tw, neglect tw, alcohol addiction tw, death tw, and polyamory if you squint)
Humphry and Hannah Davies were atrocious parents and from a young age Minerva was very aware of that fact. Being the youngest Davies child however eased the burden of being a Davies child slightly due to her automatically being under the protective and watchful eyes of her older siblings. Despite being protected a bit more by her siblings, she didn't escape her childhood unscathed however. She remembers some nights when she wouldn't have supper at all because of how deep her parents were into their neverending bottles, only for her to be woken up at early hours of the morning by her siblings who had managed to save her a bit of food.
At the age of eight, Minerva was taken out of the turbulent household by her oldest brother. Her eldest brother and his wife basically adopted her and she was in a stable household... though the damage had already been done.
Because of such an unstable home environment at such a young age before being rescued by her eldest brother, Minerva herself grew to despise her parents and from that hatred came an unhinged and chaotic young woman. She was prone to lashing out, she was very clingy and needy... always looking for validation and wanting attention no matter how she received it. She was wild, and didn't do well when it came to having to say goodbye to people she took a liking to due to becoming attached... but with age came learning and one man came along and her life changed from a miserable gray to vibrant color.
She wasn't sure exactly how her eldest brother put up with her antics back then, but he did. She knew how surprised everyone was however when she started to calm down just a bit after meeting the then Mister Warwick by chance. Minerva had been in a flower shop and being the bold woman she was asked Mister Warwick if he were her suitor would he pick the lilacs for her or the daisies, he answered the daisies and he earned a rare genuine smile and a proper exchange of pleasantries before she left the shop, and afterwards he courted her. It happened quickly and ended in a marriage and a funeral. Miss Minerva Davies became Mrs. Minerva Warwick on a beautiful afternoon in June and the next day she became Lady Minerva Warwick after her brand new husband's father suddenly passed away the day after the wedding. Mister Warwick was now Lord Warwick and Minerva despite mourning with her husband was thrilled at all the perks that now came with officially being a Lady. She received endless jewels, she bought many gowns from the best modistes, she ate the finest foods, and splurged heavily on items of vanity to make herself even more beautiful.
Minerva became a different woman when she got married. She truly loves her husband and her husband loves her. Their marriage is interesting due to being a love match as well in addition to there being a well kept secret within their marriage that would certainly scandalize the Ton if it were to be revealed... a secret that both her and her husband are very much aware of... well... her husband is only aware of part of the secret. Rumors however abound that the Warwicks have a third party in their marriage and in their marital bed... but both Lady and Lord Warwick passionately deny such ridiculous rumors.
Minerva and her husband are proud parents. She vowed to be better than her own mother and she almost never let's now five year old Joshua out of her sight. She's fiercely protective of him and she is intent on raising him to be a proper Lord to House Warwick one day and to inherit after his father passes.
Lady Warwick has it all in the eyes of the Ton, a loving family she made for herself, a loving husband, a precious son... and she knows that she has it all and won't hesitate to brag about it either. She has a vain and hedonistic lifestyle despite being married, a high and mighty demeanor with a massive ego to go with it and she can be quite judgemental towards others, especially her sister Millicent. While she feels sorry for her sister, her sympathy doesn't extend very far because she looks down on her for being foolish enough to leave her husband for another man. Minerva also isn't fond of her brother in-law either due to naturally wanting to act as if she's on her sister's side when in reality she heavily judges her and absolutely can't stand her sister's husband and his family. Minerva is a bit of a mean girl and a bit of a troublemaker of the Ton despite appearances seeming like she's a kind social Lady when quite the opposite is true.
After five years of being in London without her sister, she's now learned that Millicent has returned, and Minerva who still reels at times from bad memories of childhood neglect, feels the need to let her sister know just how much she missed her and just how much she despises her for leaving.

Happy birthday Moshke!!! What sort of changes have you been making in emerald outpost lately?
Thank you, Frost!! So I haven't worked on it that much yet but this is what I have:
The Universe
Old version: It was set on a city planet (think Coruscant), so far in the future the memory of Earth isn't relevant, and with only humans there.
New version: I decided to make a more realistic and interesting universe. I'm keeping the name and cover, though, so Emerald Outpost is now a big trading post-turned-city they go to and from on jobs. So:
Era: I now know that it is set in approximately the mid-2500's
Human history: interstellar travel happened in 3 waves. (a lot of this was my spouse's idea as we brainstormed today, for which I am so grateful)
First wave: early 2200's. Billionaire's trying to destroy a dying planet. Left to set up homes among the stars and were never heard from again. Some did survive, but their rugged individualism did not serve them well. Also, they were the ones running the cloud services that kept all the records at the time so those were lost and most people don't even know this happened
Dark ages: things got even worse before they got better. War, famine, large swaths of the planet literally uninhabitable. Information was lost with the rich. Technology was lost as people struggled just to survive
Rebuilding: the Earth did not die. People saved it, and each other. As things stabilized, tech came back and space travel was reinvented
Second wave: early 2400's. Countries were abolished around then, but this exploration wave was largely led by what used to be India. They pushed out among the stars, ordinary people looking for what was out there. And they found other civilizations, and largely settled among the societies that already existed. There are a few mostly-human areas, but not in a weird isolationist way, just in a we-can-survive-here way
Third wave: late 2400's and on. Humans are part of the intergalactic community now, though a small part. Most people still spend their lives on Earth, with maybe one big space trip for a honeymoon. On Earth, aliens come regularly for trading but more rarely in non-hub areas. Some people do live their lives on ship-cities, and plenty of humans--though many less than any other group--live on alien worlds, or leave Earth for space jobs
Characters
I'll give you details on alien species later. I haven't come up with enough yet
In the old version, they were spies. The story was fine. But my characters were not made to work within the system, so they're smugglers now. Mostly in the sense that their work is illegal, not like providing weapons to warmongers or anything
Quick rundown:
Minerva: captain of the ship and its pilot. Still human
Esther: also still human. Weapons expert and linguist. Has a 2-year-old daughter, Shira, who lives on the ship with her
Nasir: still Esther's best friend, but no longer human. He is now from the pangolin-like species of alien. Yes, that's a human name, but his family converted to Islam some generations ago. He is the mechanic who keeps the ship running
Jorge: still human. Ship's medic
Val: no longer human. Now comes from an amphibian species who need part time water-breathers to live in space. Also their species has no sex or gender differentiation. They have a preschool kid (who I need to rename because they used to be Luisa). Val is still secretive and shifty for reasons that become clear throughout the story. Oh, they're the way overqualified (with a degree!) software engineer who invented a whole system to help the ship run better
Euyla: no longer human. Now an alien with leathery purple skin, four eyes, and feathers on her arms. The ship's logistics person, which...shouldn't be a real job, but she was desperate and begging. Also she does do well at plotting courses, finding jobs, and keeping records, so it's fine

trying to pick out my next book to read at the lighthouse (for all of one day...) i'll put summaries and whatnot below
Double Exposure: David Toland, a decorated Korean War veteran, has done all he can to leave a life of combat behind. Now Director of Preservation for the Library of Congress's National Film Archive, Toland has made it his mission to preserve what he loves most: the Golden Age of American cinema, moving pictures full of romance, adventure and American Dream. That is, until CIA Agent Lana Welles drops in unannounced with a film canister, smuggled over the Berlin Wall at great cost, that may prove WWII never really ended--it just went underground. David reluctantly agrees to serve his country one last time and help recover the film for Lana and the CIA. But it seems not everyone is as eager as they are to dig up the past. David and Lana's discovery awakens shadowy forces who will do anything to keep their findings a secret. In search of the truth, David and Lana find themselves pursued across the globe in a cat and mouse game with enormous, world-altering consequences.
Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line: Down market lanes crammed with too many people, dogs, and rickshaws, past stalls that smell of cardamom and sizzling oil, below a smoggy sky that doesn’t let through a single blade of sunlight, and all the way at the end of the Purple metro line lies a jumble of tin-roofed homes where nine-year-old Jai lives with his family. From his doorway, he can spot the glittering lights of the city’s fancy high-rises, and though his mother works as a maid in one, to him they seem a thousand miles away. Jai drools outside sweet shops, watches too many reality police shows, and considers himself to be smarter than his friends Pari (though she gets the best grades) and Faiz (though Faiz has an actual job). When a classmate goes missing, Jai decides to use the crime-solving skills he has picked up from TV to find him. He asks Pari and Faiz to be his assistants, and together they draw up lists of people to interview and places to visit. But what begins as a game turns sinister as other children start disappearing from their neighborhood. Jai, Pari, and Faiz have to confront terrified parents, an indifferent police force, and rumors of soul-snatching djinns. As the disappearances edge ever closer to home, the lives of Jai and his friends will never be the same again. Drawing on real incidents and a spate of disappearances in metropolitan India.
The History of Bees: In the spirit of Station Eleven and Never Let Me Go, this dazzling and ambitious literary debut follows three generations of beekeepers from the past, present, and future, weaving a spellbinding story of their relationship to the bees, to their children, and to one another against the backdrop of an urgent, global crisis. England, 1852. William is a biologist and seed merchant who sets out to build a new type of beehive, one that will give both him and his children honor and fame.

We have a ton of books on our calendar for July, so I thought it would be fun to highlight a few that caught my eye. Are any of these on your TBR list?
All the Yellow Suns by Malavika Kannan
A coming-of-age story about a queer Indian American girl exploring activism and identity through art, perfect for fans of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Sixteen-year-old Maya Krishnan is fiercely protective of her friends, immigrant community, and single mother, but she knows better than to rock the boat in her conservative Florida suburb. Her classmate Juneau Zale is the polar opposite: she’s a wealthy white heartbreaker who won’t think twice before capsizing that boat. When Juneau invites Maya to join the Pugilists—a secret society of artists, vandals, and mischief-makers who fight for justice at their school—Maya descends into the world of change-making and resistance. Soon, she and Juneau forge a friendship that inspires Maya to confront the challenges in her own life. But as their relationship grows romantic, painful, and twisted, Maya begins to suspect that there’s a whole different person beneath Juneau’s painted-on facade. Now Maya must learn to speak her truth in this mysterious, mixed-up world—even if it results in heartbreak.
