Swimmer Boy
Nance Johnston arrived in Maui in the dead of night, their family arriving with a rented van to pick them up from the open-air airport. The day had been long, the flight to Vancouver first and then out to the Hawaiian Islands a long drag they hadn't experienced since they'd retired. But retirement was treating them well, and all the travel led to fun and adventure instead of work and misadventure. Nance had met some interesting individuals while having a drink before the second leg of the flight, and had chatted easily and without worry. Nance was a person of easy disposition, letting the ebb and flow of life drive them in whichever direction it felt fit. This was their mindset since retiring: whatever the universe had prepared them for, set them up for, they were going to face it head on.
Perhaps this disposition came out of necessity, as Nance's previous employment had been incredibly harrowing. They had seen numerous psychologists over the years, and all their problems seemed to come down to letting things go. This was difficult, of course, as they were an ex-Marine and had been impressively trained by the very best to be hypervigilant, adaptable, courageous, and dependable. These things were great for life of Marine, but could be a bit maladaptive for those trying to settle back into civilian life. Hence, the vacation they were taking their family on. Since returning to civilian life they had met a wonderful human being name Sam who easily rolled with the proverbial punches. They had also reconnected with their parents and sibling, whom they had had to keep a distance from due to the nature of their work. Everything was going great, they were all excited to spend some quality time together, and make new positive memories.
The van glided to a stop in front of their hotel for the week. The entrance was brightly lit and warm and an attendant quickly hustled up to the van to open the door and assist with Nance's duffle bag. The duffle bag was one habit they couldn't give up since serving their time, it was the ultimate catch-all from which they lived their life.
"Room 728," Gerard, Nance's father, said. "We'll take the bag if you can call an elevator."
The attendant hung onto the bag anyway and hustled into the hotel. Nance's brother, Colin, and their mother, Chris, and Sam all headed into the lobby while Gerard went to park the van in the overnight lot. The attendant was standing by the elevators, picking the bag up again, when they finally caught up with him.
"Your bag." Said the attendant, handing it over to Nance and hustling off towards the front of the hotel again.
Nance led the way onto the elevator without a glance back.
The next morning Nance and Sam headed down to the beach with cups of coffee in hand. On the menu for the day was kayaking, windsurfing, and the possibility of snorkeling, if the mood struck. They sat out and watched the sun rise over the island. Nance's family eventually joined them on the beach, having lingered over breakfast in the hotel. They all decided that they would embrace the early morning and go windsurfing before the heat of the day swallowed them up and they admitted defeat for cooler activities.
The gusts coming in off the ocean propelled their surfboards gracefully. Sam, a long-time resident of the west coast, found the transition from surfing to windsurfing quite easy and soon was showing off and had them all laughing. Colin proved to be the most land-bound and settled for lowering the mast and sail just to sit on the board and paddle around.
Once the sun was high in the sky and blazing down on them they called it quits and sought out the chill inner sanctum of the hotel. They traded their bathing suits for loose fitting t-shirts and shorts and loaded into the van for a lunch excursion and exploration of the island.
On their third day on Maui, Nance and Sam opted to rent a motorcycle and go exploring the road to Hana on their own. They stopped at every point of interest and went at such an ingratiating pace that Sam's motion sickness never overcame them enough that they had to stop between activities. At some point they pulled over, parked the bike, and wandered into a beautiful sanctuary.
The sanctuary was lush, like much of the island, and included a maze of walkways and lookout points. Nance and Sam were enjoying one of these lookout points when Sam pointed out a forested area and declared, "That looks like an excellent place to get photos!"
They wandered off the designated path and wound their way between the trees. The trunks were tightly packed, the canopy far above. The dull hum of tourists slowly died away as they went deeper, Sam declaring the trees not perfectly uniform enough yet for the photo they wanted. The birds chirped from far overhead. A branch snapped on the carpeted forest floor. The graffiti on the trunks lessened.
"Here!" Sam declared, and turned smiling to Nance. But Nance was gone.

For nonveg lovers I would highly recommend the famous Chicken Sanju Baba located in Noor Mohammadi Hotel & Restaurant
Address: 181-183 IR Road, Abdul Hakim, Noor Mohammadi Chowk, Bhendi Bazaar, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400003
Adlabs Imagica, located in Mumbai Pune expressway is a must visit for all taste of people.
For locals its too easy to reach and nearest local railway station is Khopoli. From Khopoli you can take sharing auto to reach Imagica
On my recommendation. If you are coming Mumbai in monsoon time. You can visit nearby places like Matheran, Alibaug, Mahabaleshwar, Lonawala, Panchgani. There are many treks but my pick would be specially during November to January would be Kalsubai Trek  ,the highest peak In Maharashtra.
Finally I would like to add a vital information for a visitor instead of buying tickets frequently. You can get a tourist pass available at any local train station. This pass is not going to freedom from long queues but it also saves good amount of money.

Monsoon Moods: Discover Mumbai’s Best September Getaways
Tumblr media
September is a great month to explore Mumbai's hidden gems because the city's abundant flora is almost gone and the rainy season is not too severe. The rains highlight Mumbai's unique beauty, which includes calm beaches, lush parks, and ancient landmarks. These are excellent escape options for people who want to take in the city's monsoon charm. Whether you're planning a quick trip or a weekend escape, here's a guide to the best locations to visit in September and where to stay in Mumbai.
1. Explore the Vibrant Culture of Andheri West
Bombay's thriving Andheri West neighbourhood offers a wide range of entertainment, dining, and cultural options. Andheri is the perfect place to start your Mumbai monsoon vacation, whether you're exploring the neighborhood's shopping districts or seeing a show at the prestigious Prithvi Theatre. One of the greatest hotels in Andheri West, The Empresa Hotel, is where you should stay if you want to make the most of your time here. The Empresa Hotel, conveniently located in the heart of the city, is well-known for its boutique charm and contemporary conveniences. It provides an incredible experience.
2. Soak in the Tranquility of Juhu Beach
Juhu Beach has a calm, peaceful ambience throughout the monsoon season. The wide stretch of beach is less crowded and perfect for strolls along the damp shoreline. You may enjoy street cuisine favorites from Mumbai, such as pani puri and vada pav, from vendors along the shore as you unwind and enjoy the cool breeze. Staying in hotels near Juhu Beach makes it convenient for you to visit this well-known spot and enjoy the peace of the beach whenever the whim strikes.
3. Sanjay Gandhi National Park: Monsoon Nature Trails
September in Sanjay Gandhi National Park offers pleasant surroundings for outdoor enthusiasts. The park has dense forests, waterfalls, and the well-known Kanheri Caves, all of which are especially breathtaking during the monsoon season. You can take a leisurely ride on the park's toy train through the verdant surroundings or explore the many hiking trails. When you stay at Andheri hotels, you can easily visit this urban jungle and enjoy the landscape without ever having to leave the city.
4. Bandra: The Hip Getaway
Bandra offers a trendy and laid-back refuge that is worth seeing. This neighborhood is well-known for its unique eateries, street art, and quaint streets. Rainy days are ideal for exploring Bandra's alleyways, which come alive with bright energy during the monsoon. Savor some of the top dining establishments in the city, shop on Hill Road, or take a spiritual retreat at Mount Mary Church. Making bookings at the top Andheri or Mumbai hotels will ensure that you are close to Bandra's lively atmosphere.
5. Marine Drive: A Walk Along the Queen’s Necklace
Perhaps the most popular place to witness Mumbai in all its monsoon splendour is Marine Drive. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea while the rain slowly falls and the waves gently lap against the shore from the 3.6-kilometer Queen's Necklace promenade. When night falls, stroll along the promenade, enjoy a hot cup of chai from a local vendor, and watch the city lights twinkle. After taking in the grandeur of Marine Drive, relax in elegance at The Empresa Hotel, one of the greatest places to stay in Andheri West.
6. Quick Getaways Near Mumbai
The monsoon season is ideal for travels to nearby hill stations like Lonavala or Matheran if you're seeking a quick weekend getaway from the city. These picturesque spots, which are only a few hours' drive from Mumbai, are especially breathtaking in the rainy season when misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and an abundance of vegetation are everywhere. After your short flight, return to the city and unwind in one of the top hotels close to the Mumbai airport to reduce your travel anxiety.
7. Stay at Mumbai’s Best Hotels
Finding the perfect hotel can elevate your entire Mumbai experience. Whether you’re looking for luxury or convenience, here are some of the best places to stay in Mumbai this monsoon:
The Empresa Hotel: A top choice for travelers, The Empresa Hotel is one of the best hotels in Andheri West. Its central location, boutique design, and high-end amenities make it an excellent option for those looking to experience both comfort and convenience during their stay in Mumbai.
Hotels near Juhu Beach: If proximity to the beach is important to you, consider booking a room in one of the many hotels near Juhu Beach. These hotels offer easy access to both the beach and popular attractions like ISKCON Temple and Prithvi Theatre.

Day 1: Discovering Colonial Mumbai
Mumbai’s charm lies in its colonial architecture, a legacy of its British past. Start your tour at the iconic Gateway of India, a magnificent arch that stands tall overlooking the Arabian Sea. Built in 1924, it commemorates King George V and Queen Mary’s visit to India. Take a leisurely stroll along the promenade and admire the grandeur of this historical structure.
Right across the road, you will find the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, an architectural marvel that has been a symbol of luxury since 1903. Its rich history and opulent interiors make it worth visiting, even if you’re just there for a cup of tea.
Next, head to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), one of the most stunning railway stations in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gothic and Victorian architectural styles blend seamlessly, making it a photographer’s delight.
After soaking in the colonial vibes, visit the nearby Prince of Wales Museum (now known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya). It houses a rich collection of artifacts, from ancient Indian sculptures to Mughal miniatures.
Day 2: Beaches and Bollywood
Mumbai's coastline offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Begin your second day with a visit to Marine Drive, also known as the "Queen's Necklace" due to its shimmering lights at night. This 3.6 km long boulevard is perfect for an early morning walk or evening relaxation as the sun sets over the Arabian Sea.
A little further along the coast, you’ll find Girgaum Chowpatty, one of the most famous beaches in Mumbai. The beach comes alive in the evenings with local food vendors selling delicious street food like bhel puri, pav bhaji, and vada pav. Take a dip in Mumbai’s street food culture and enjoy the local delicacies while watching the sunset.
No visit to Mumbai is complete without exploring the glitzy world of Bollywood. Film City, located in the suburbs, offers guided tours where you can witness live film shoots, explore movie sets, and even meet a few celebrities if you’re lucky. Bollywood enthusiasts can also visit Mehboob Studios in Bandra, where some of the biggest blockbusters have been filmed.
Day 3: Spiritual and Cultural Mumbai
On your third day, delve into Mumbai’s rich spiritual and cultural side. Begin at Siddhivinayak Temple, one of the most revered temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It attracts millions of devotees and celebrities alike. The temple’s serene atmosphere offers a peaceful break from the city's chaos.
Next, head to Haji Ali Dargah, a stunning mosque located on an islet in the Arabian Sea. Accessible during low tide, the Dargah is a symbol of secularism and unity, attracting people from all walks of life. The walk to the mosque, surrounded by the sea on both sides, is a truly surreal experience.
For art lovers, Kala Ghoda is a must-visit. This vibrant art district in South Mumbai is filled with galleries, museums, and street art. The annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is a cultural extravaganza that showcases visual arts, music, theater, and film, drawing artists from around the world.
End your cultural day with a visit to Chor Bazaar, one of the largest flea markets in India. Known as the "Thieves Market," it offers antiques, vintage items, and curiosities at bargain prices. The bustling market lanes give a glimpse into Mumbai's vibrant street life.
Day 4: Elephanta Island and Shopping
Mumbai’s proximity to the sea offers unique opportunities for exploration. Take a ferry from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island, home to the ancient Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These rock-cut caves date back to the 5th century and are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The intricate sculptures and majestic rock carvings are a testament to India’s ancient artistic prowess.
After returning from the island, indulge in some retail therapy. Colaba Causeway is a shopper’s paradise where you can find everything from trendy clothes to traditional jewelry. Bargaining is key here, so make sure to haggle for the best deals.
If you're looking for high-end shopping, head to Palladium Mall in Lower Parel or Phoenix Marketcity in Kurla. These malls house luxury brands, fine-dining restaurants, and multiplexes, making them perfect for a day of indulgence.
Day 5: Exploring Local Life
To truly understand Mumbai, you need to experience its local life. Start your day with a visit to Dhobi Ghat, the world’s largest open-air laundry. It’s fascinating to watch hundreds of dhobis (washermen) washing clothes in large stone basins. The rhythmic sounds and organized chaos reflect Mumbai’s work ethic and determination.
Later, take a walk through Dharavi, one of the largest slums in Asia. While it may seem daunting, guided tours offer an insight into the thriving industries within Dharavi, including pottery, leather, and textiles. The people of Dharavi are known for their entrepreneurship, and this tour sheds light on their resilience and creativity.
Conclude your tour with a visit to Crawford Market, a bustling wholesale market offering everything from fresh produce to pets. The Victorian Gothic architecture and lively atmosphere make it a quintessential Mumbai experience.
Conclusion
Mumbai is a city of contrasts—modern yet deeply rooted in tradition. From its iconic landmarks and beaches to its vibrant culture and street life, this city leaves a lasting impression on every visitor. Whether you're exploring colonial buildings, relaxing by the beach, or diving into the world of Bollywood, Mumbai's energy is contagious, making it an unforgettable destination.
For those planning a trip, Mumbai offers the best of both worlds: a perfect blend of history, culture, and modernity. Come with an open mind and a sense of adventure, and you'll discover why Mumbai is truly a city like no other.

Exploring Kochi in Style: Your Guide to Premium Car Rentals
Hey there, fellow travel enthusiasts! If you're planning a trip to the beautiful coastal city of Kochi in Kerala, you've made an excellent choice. Renowned for its stunning backwaters, vibrant culture, and mouth-watering cuisine, Kochi is a destination that calls for exploration. And what better way to discover this enchanting city than with a premium car rental? Buckle up, because in this blog post, we’re diving deep into the world of premium car rentals in Kochi !
Why Choose Premium Car Rentals?
First things first, let’s talk about why you should consider renting a premium car while you're in Kochi. Sure, you could go with a regular ride, but let’s face it, treating yourself to a premium vehicle not only enhances your travel experience but also adds a touch of class and comfort to your journey.
1. Comfort Meets Style: Premium cars are designed for luxury. That means plush interiors, top-notch sound systems, and all the gadgets you could dream of. Whether you're cruising through the city or heading to a nearby beach, you'll be doing it in style.
2. Safety and Reliability: When you rent a premium vehicle, you are not just getting a car; you’re getting peace of mind. These vehicles are often well-maintained and equipped with modern safety features that ensure you and your loved ones are secure during your travels.
3. Impressive Image: Let’s be honest, there’s something about rolling up in a fancy car that turns heads. Whether you’re heading to a business meeting or a fancy dinner, arriving in a premium vehicle adds an extra layer of sophistication to any occasion.
4. A Variety of Choices: The rental market in Kochi is booming, and you can find a range of premium vehicles to suit your taste. From sleek sedans to elegant SUVs, the options are endless.
How to Rent a Premium Car in Kochi
So, you’ve decided that you want to rent a premium car. But where do you start? Here’s a simple guide to help you navigate the process like a pro.
1. Research Rental Companies: Before you book anything, take some time to research. Check out various rental companies in Kochi, read customer reviews, and compare their offerings. Look for companies that specialize in premium rentals to ensure you get the best experience.
2. Choose Your Vehicle: Once you’ve narrowed down your options, take a look at the available vehicles. Are you thinking about driving a luxurious Audi or perhaps a sporty BMW? Consider your needs and preferences, and choose a vehicle that fits your style.
3. Check for Insurance and Policies: It’s crucial to know what kind of insurance coverage is provided and any specific rental policies. Verify whether they have policies for damage, theft, or accidents. This way, you can enjoy your trip without worrying about unexpected costs.
4. Book Your Car: Once you’ve made your decision, it’s time to book. Make sure to do it in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. It’s always a bummer to find your dream car is unavailable when you finally decide to rent it!
5. Pick-Up and Drop-Off Times: Coordinate the pick-up and drop-off times with the rental company to ensure a smooth experience. Don't forget to ask if they offer delivery services to your hotel or the airport — this can save you a lot of time!
Exploring Kochi: The Best Routes
Now that you’ve got your premium car ready to go, let’s talk about where to drive! Kochi offers a mix of urban and natural beauty that’s perfect for a leisurely road trip.
1. Fort Kochi: Start your adventure in Fort Kochi. With your stylish vehicle, explore attractions like the iconic Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, and the vibrant local markets. Don’t forget to stop for some traditional Kerala cuisine at a cozy restaurant!
2. Marine Drive: This picturesque promenade is perfect for a leisurely drive while taking in the panoramic views of the waterfront. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the way where you can pause for a refreshing drink or a delicious meal.
3. Mattancherry Palace and Jew Town: Dive into Kochi's rich history by visiting the Dutch Palace, also known as Mattancherry Palace. Afterward, take a stroll down Jew Town, where you can explore antique shops and the famous Paradesi Synagogue.
4. Kumarakom Backwaters: If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a day trip to Kumarakom. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Kochi, and the scenic routes lined with palm trees and water bodies will take your breath away. Once there, indulge in a houseboat experience — it’s a quintessential Kerala experience!
5. Cherai Beach: No trip to Kochi is complete without some beach time. Head to Cherai Beach for a relaxing day by the sea. The drive from Kochi is delightful, and you can enjoy the beach vibes, sip coconut water, and even try your hand at water sports.
In conclusion, renting a premium car in Kochi is an experience worth every penny. It not only adds comfort and style to your travels but also allows you to explore the city and surrounding areas at your leisure. From historical sites to beautiful beaches, Kochi has so much to offer, and doing it in a luxurious vehicle enhances the entire experience.
So, the next time you find yourself pondering whether to rent a car or rely on public transport, remember the joy and convenience a premium car rental can bring. Safe travels, and enjoy your time in this gorgeous city!

Exploring the Convenience of Cochin Car Rental: A Traveler’s Guide
Cochin, also known as Kochi, is a vibrant city that beautifully blends historical charm with modern conveniences. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, one of the best ways to explore the city and its surroundings is by renting a car. Cochin car rental services offer travelers flexibility, convenience, and the freedom to travel at their own pace. In this blog, we'll take a closer look at the benefits of Cochin Car Rental and tips for choosing the right rental service.
Why Rent a Car in Cochin?
1. Flexibility and Freedom
Public transportation in Cochin, such as buses and auto-rickshaws, may be inexpensive, but they limit your ability to explore on your own schedule. Renting a car gives you the freedom to visit various attractions, nearby cities, or the beautiful backwaters without being restricted by bus or train schedules. Whether you're visiting famous spots like Fort Kochi, Marine Drive, or venturing into the hills of Munnar, having your own car allows for spontaneous detours and sightseeing.
2. Comfort and Convenience
Renting a car offers comfort that public transport can’t always provide, especially if you're traveling with family or friends. You can avoid the hassle of crowded buses or waiting for taxis, and enjoy the privacy of your own vehicle. Cochin’s unpredictable weather, especially during monsoons, makes having a rental car even more advantageous for a stress-free travel experience.
3. Explore Offbeat Destinations
Cochin is surrounded by some of Kerala’s most beautiful landscapes, including serene beaches, lush green hills, and the famous backwaters. With a rental car, you can easily explore offbeat locations like Athirapally Waterfalls, Vagamon, or Kumarakom, which may be difficult to access through public transportation. You can plan your itinerary to cover places at your own pace, without the constraints of tour packages.
4. Cost-Effective for Long Trips
For long-distance trips within or around Cochin, renting a car can be more economical than booking multiple taxis or using ride-hailing services. You can rent a car for the whole day or multiple days, giving you unlimited access without paying for each trip individually. Many car rental services also offer fuel-inclusive packages, helping you manage your travel budget better.
5. Ideal for Business Travelers
If you're traveling to Cochin for business, renting a car is a convenient option that helps you maintain professionalism while saving time. You can travel between meetings, corporate offices, and hotels without relying on taxis or waiting for public transport, ensuring punctuality and comfort throughout your trip.
Popular Car Rental Options in Cochin
1. Self-Drive Cars
Self-drive car rentals have gained immense popularity in Cochin. Many travelers prefer the privacy and independence of driving themselves, especially for family vacations or solo trips. With a self-drive car, you can explore the city at your own pace, stop for spontaneous sightseeing, or detour to lesser-known spots. Several rental services offer a range of vehicles, from budget hatchbacks to luxury sedans and SUVs.
2. Chauffeur-Driven Cars
For those who prefer not to drive themselves, chauffeur-driven car rentals provide the perfect solution. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride while a professional driver navigates the roads. This option is particularly popular among business travelers or tourists unfamiliar with local traffic patterns.
3. Luxury Car Rentals
For special occasions or those looking to add a touch of luxury to their travel, Cochin offers premium car rental services. Luxury sedans like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi are available for rental, offering a stylish and comfortable ride. Whether it's a wedding, a corporate event, or a high-end vacation, renting a luxury car ensures you travel in style.
4. SUVs and Vans
If you're traveling with a large group or family, renting an SUV or van can be a practical option. These vehicles provide ample space for passengers and luggage, ensuring a comfortable journey for everyone. Cochin's car rental companies offer a variety of large vehicles, perfect for group tours, family outings, or corporate trips.
How to Choose the Right Car Rental Service in Cochin
1. Check the Fleet
When choosing a car rental service, it's important to consider the range of vehicles available. Whether you're looking for a budget-friendly hatchback, a luxury sedan, or a spacious SUV, ensure the rental service offers options that fit your needs. A diverse fleet ensures you can select a car that suits your style, comfort, and budget.
2. Consider the Rental Packages
Rental companies in Cochin offer a variety of packages, including hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly rentals. Some services even offer unlimited mileage options, allowing you to explore the city and beyond without worrying about extra charges. Be sure to choose a rental package that aligns with your travel plans.
3. Look for Transparency in Pricing
A trustworthy rental service will provide transparent pricing with no hidden costs. Before finalizing a rental, check for any additional charges, such as fuel, insurance, or service fees. Some companies offer all-inclusive rates that cover fuel, insurance, and other essentials, which can make budgeting easier.
4. Read Customer Reviews
Before booking a car, take some time to read reviews from previous customers. This will give you insight into the company's reputation, the quality of their vehicles, and the level of customer service. A highly-rated car rental company is likely to offer a smoother and more reliable experience.
5. Ensure Vehicle Safety
Safety should be a top priority when renting a car in Cochin. Make sure the rental service maintains its fleet regularly and adheres to all safety standards. Vehicles should be well-maintained, insured, and equipped with necessary safety features such as airbags, ABS, and seat belts.
6. Booking Process
An easy and quick booking process is a sign of a professional car rental service. Many services now offer online booking, where you can select your vehicle, choose your rental package, and even pay in advance. Some companies also offer free cancellation, providing flexibility if your travel plans change.
Top Places to Visit in Cochin with a Rental Car
Once you've rented your car, Cochin has plenty to offer. Here are a few must-visit spots:
Fort Kochi: Explore this historic area, famous for its colonial architecture, Chinese fishing nets, and vibrant art scene.
