Boat Itinerary to the Balearic Islands including Es Vedra

Have you ever heard of the mysterious Es Vedra island? This is just one of the stops that we will reach with our alternative itinerary to the Balearic Islands!

What we propose below is a charter boat itinerary in the Balearic Islands archipelago as an alternative to the destinations most commonly frequented by tourists which end up becoming overcrowded during summer.

What could be a possible Balearics boat itinerary that includes Es Vedra?

We will set sail from the marina of Sant Antoni, a town located north of Ibiza, for a 7-day tour that includes some hidden and little-known pearls such as the island of Es Vedrà, the archipelago of Cabrera, and the island of Dragonera, ending our tour in Port d’Andratx on Mallorca island. Let’s start!

Day 1: Departure from Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza)

Our boarding point, as mentioned, is the town of Sant Antoni de Portmany, located on the northwest coast of Ibiza and about 30 minutes drive from Ibiza San José airport.

Puerto de Sant Antoni de Portmany marina, with a capacity of 245 berths not exceeding 30 meters in length and a maximum draft of 9 meters, offers the best in terms of services for boaters who decide to choose it as a landing place.

After a short briefing with the captain and crew on board, just enough time to make sure everything is ready for the trip, we set sail during the morning heading west.

We will spend the day in the nearby beautiful bays of Cala Bassa and Cala Comte, a few nautical miles away.

Day 2: let’s discover Cala d’Hort (Ibiza)

We begin the second travel day by sailing south to reach one of the most beautiful bays in Ibiza. Cala D’Hort, picturesque and fascinating especially at sunset, is a very fine light sand beach with 150 meters long and 20 wide. During summer it is often crowded especially because the sunsets that can be admired from here are among the most beautiful and evocative of the island.

Only a few nautical miles away from Cala d’Hort, Sa Pedrera de Cala D’Hort is also worth a visit, where the rocky coast and the sea over the centuries have created very picturesque “sculptures” and natural pools with wonderful colors.

Day 3: Isla de es Vedra (Ibiza)

The next day we don’t need to go far to discover the first “alternative” destination of our itinerary: the island of Es Vedra.

Almost 400 meters high, this uninhabited limestone islet is located just 2 km off the west coast of Ibiza, right in front of Cala d’Hort. Many tourists visit this rock and fortunately, there are many vantage points from which to appreciate its majesty.

Es Vedra is famous above all for being shrouded in myths and legends: the island is believed by some to be one of the most magnetic points on the planet, others link it to ancient times myths speaking of mermaids and nymphs that inhabit its waters, others still consider it the tip of ancient Atlantis now submerged.

Whether all of this is true or not, many believe that Es Vedrà possesses positive energy of healing and creative inspiration. We will let you judge as you visit it on our tour!

Day 4: Platja de Ses Illetes (Formentera)

The fourth-day destination is perhaps the least alternative of all but, heading into the waters that separate Ibiza from Formentera, it seems a real shame not to visit one of the most marvelous beaches in this area.

Playa ses Illetes is the classic postcard beach of Formentera: a white-sand expanse bathed by a transparent sea reminiscent of the Caribbean.

It is hard to find it deserted as it is one of the island’s main tourist attractions, visited by residents and tourists. We advise you to moor your yacht offshore to enjoy its best without being overwhelmed by the crowds.

This west-facing beach is located within the Ses Salines d’Eivissa y Formentera Natural Park and occupies most of the es Trucadors peninsula, in the far north of Formentera.

It consists of over 450 meters of beach divided into two by a small rocky area in its center.

The main feature of this beach is its calm, shallow and turquoise waters which, together with the white sand of the shore, make it a landscape that has nothing to envy to the Caribbean.

Day 5: Illa Tagomago (Ibiza)

Continuing to sail east, before reaching Mallorca, the tour’s second little-known destination awaits us: Illa Tagomago.

With only 1,500 meters long and 113 wide, Tagomago is a small island located about one kilometer from the coast of Ibiza, at the height of Santa Eulalia del Rio municipality. The islet is a real nature reserve, legally protected due to its high degree of environmental conservation as it hosts a large variety of exclusive fauna and flora species in an area practically free from humans.

It is a predominantly rocky island, with a port to the west and a lighthouse in the far south-east, built-in 1913.

Being a protected and private environment it is very difficult to get to Tagomago unless you want to see it only from the sea.

However, the island is so beautiful that it deserves to be contemplated circumnavigating it and bathing in its clear waters.

Day 6: Cabrera archipelago (Mallorca)

Finally, we reach the waters of Mallorca or, more precisely, those of the little-known Cabrera archipelago.

This nature park is located off the southwest coast of Mallorca and is divided into 19 islands and islets. Among these, the island of Cabrera stands out. The largest of the complex and full of caves, cliffs, and a few small beaches. Its extensive vegetation serves as a refuge for local fauna, especially birds, which nest or migrate through Cabrera all year round.

The great wealth of the park, however, lies in its coasts. Almost transparent waters bathe the entire archipelago. Waters that over the centuries have created fascinating caves and caverns by digging the rock, such as the Azul Lagoon, one of the park’s major attractions.

Furthermore, a large expanse of oceanic Posidonia grows in these waters. This plant, present only in the Mediterranean Sea, is responsible for the aquatic ecosystem of Cabrera. Fish and shellfish feed on it, sharing their habitat in its incredible seabed perfect for diving and snorkeling lovers.

Day 7: Dragonera (Mallorca)

On the last day of navigation, we head north to meet our final landing: Port d’Andratx.

This, however, not before having visited the last island on our map: Dragonera

Dragonera, or Dragon Island, is a protected natural park located less than a kilometer from the coast of the Mallorca westernmost corner. The island, which probably owes its name to its shape vaguely reminiscent of a dragon lying on the sea, is almost 4 kilometers long, completely uninhabited, and famous for its superb natural environment and for the Roman necropolis found in the Es Lladó area. During the day you can visit the small museum on the island reserve, take walks or swim in the truly sensational waters that bathe the islet.

After spending the last day in Port d’Andratx, we disembark in the late afternoon for final greetings with the crew on board.

The departure of your return flight is scheduled for the following day, from the international airport of Palma de Mallorca which is just under an hour away by car.
