"but then again this is the guy who’s publically known for loving to eat ass so"
I'm sorry, I thought Nate eating ass was fanon. Are you telling me this is an actual canon fact??
god i love when people don’t realise how much “fanon” around sid and nate is actually canon. it’s like heroin to me. also bc it’s like. 90% of the stuff in fics (which is probably why people assume it’s fanon but. oh boy it’s not. there’s shockingly little fanon around these two, mostly because canon is so abundant).
yes, nathan mackinnon is a known ass-eater. let me direct you to this post, anon. you’re welcome.
other nate (and sid) facts you might not have realised are canon:
nate is a known advocate for therapy. he’s been seeing a sports therapist since 2017
they wear matching clothing all the fucking time, sid has said publicly that he started wearing white sneakers and updated his wardrobe due to nate’s influence (iirc nate might’ve even bought him his first pair of white sneakers? either that or it was a “he told me i need to so i did” situation). they share a tailor. unfortunately i now have to bring your attention to the fact that since they have an alarming amount of matching clothes that they’ve bought for each other, that means that they in fact have to know each other’s clothing sizes off by heart. they also low-key share clothing btw
their families celebrate canada day together and their dads are best friends. in-law behaviour goes crazy
nate did in fact stalk his way into sid’s heart (got the same personal trainer and agent at age 13; built his house next door in 2017; they’ve been spending every day in the summers together since at least 2015. sid cooks for them daily, or at least did pre-pandemic. sid refuses to use nate’s gym tho so they always use sid’s).
nate used to have a fan twitter account more or less where he rooted for the pens. it was active until 2017.
sid and nate regularly go to summer weddings together as each other’s dates. they have done this since, once again, at least 2015
nate has confirmed that he used to have a poster of sid on his wall as a teenager (he didn’t confirm he used to jerk off to it but frankly. i think that’d be saying the quiet part out loud)
when sid won the cup in 2009 and held the parade in cole harbour, nate stood by the side of the road watching it. he was about to turn 14, he was already working with sid’s trainer and agent, and he was about to start attending shattuck (sid’s junior high). due to old pics we also know that this was RIGHT before nate had his first growth spurt and hit puberty. i’m not saying seeing sid with the cup kickstarted nate’s puberty and gave him his first boner but i’m not NOT saying it
nate dated vanessa morgan of riverdale fame in his rookie year. she’s now good friends with elias petersson from the vancouver canucks (this means nothing but i do think it’s a very funny coincidence).
nate schmidt, formerly of the VGK, once failed a drug test (it turned out to be a testing-fuck-up); when nhl players were asked about it natemack iconically said “i don’t think he was sticking a needle up his ass” (i just like this one)
when he was a kid, the one other thing sid wanted to be was a hairdresser. nate, on the other hand, “didn’t have a plan B”
nate is canonically possessive of sid (see: the asg 2024) and sid is canonically delighted by this and into it
they go on so many lunch dates in the summer my dude. they go grocery shopping together. like there’s so many pics of them in grocery stores or out having coffee or weird green shakes
oh i almost forgot, they went on a roadtrip through ireland last year. they’ve been on holiday together multiple times over the years though. done some eurotripping together and stuff. in 2015 they spent three months together, three weeks of which were spent living in sid’s santa monica condo together just the two of them
sid has put up a picture of every stanley cup winning captain in his basement since 2008, when the pens lost in the scf to DET. apparently this serves as motivation for him to win the cup. he notoriously does not watch the playoffs after the pens are out
however, he partied so hard at nate’s cup party he actually closed down the party with his dad. nate is the only non-teammate sid’s ever been seen supporting for a cup run (he’s also never been to his teammates’ cup parties afaik so. there’s that)
also they talked on the phone daily and between periods during nate’s cup run. they also canonically have almost weekly phone dates that can run multiple hours. quote nate “i can’t talk to anyone else the way i can talk to him”
they each have pictures of the two of them together framed in each other’s houses
there’s rumours they’re building adjoining houses on neighbouring properties in cape breton next to a golf course bc apparently being neighbours in halifax isn’t enough or something. this one is as yet unconfirmed by reputable sources though
#god there’s so much#anyway please refer to the primer if you wanna know more#sidnate#squidney crocsby#natty mac#kookanswers#anon#long post

Paying for the Sins of Our Fathers
Pairing: David 'Deacon' Kay x fem!SWAT!reader
Summary: A new serial killer arrives in Los Angeles with a penchant for girls with bad relationships with their fathers. After you offer yourself up as bait to catch him, Deacon shows you that you're not as hard to love as you think.
Warnings: angst to fluff, serial killer, secondary character deaths, age gap, depiction of terrible father-daughter relationships (going to say allusion to DV just to be safe but if there is it's nuanced not explicitly stated)
Word Count: 3.6k+ words
A/N: Alexa, play Glasshouse Children.
*This is not a rewrite of Sins of the Father, just a titling coinkydink.
Picture from Pinterest (I love this scene so much)
“Caramel pumpkin chai for Lia!”
Lia sighs as she stands and walks to the counter. The coffee shop, one of Santa Monica’s hidden gems that most people walk right by, is nearly empty at this hour. A writer wearing headphones slaves over a laptop in one corner, three young girls read together, pausing every few minutes to discuss the previous chapter, and a man draws in a weathered leather journal. This is how Lia likes the café, but she’s not sure it’s what she needs tonight.
Sitting with her drink, she ignores the envelope in her bag. Her father sent a message from prison, where he’s been since she was a freshman in high school nearly a decade ago, but she’s yet to open it. She’s not sure she can, not sure she wants to, even. Tapping the screen of her phone, she smiles when she sees a reply from her best friend.
Come over, and we’ll talk. Catch this love <3
“Excuse me,” the man with the journal says, standing sheepishly by Lia’s table. “I just wanted to say hello, and, uh, I hope you don’t mind, but I included you in my sketch of the coffee shop.”
“Oh,” Lia replies, smiling at the interruption. “Yeah, that’s fine.”
“Good, good. I won’t keep you, but it’s a hard anniversary for me, but drawing helps and it was nice to have a friendly face in the scene.”
“I understand completely. I hope the rest of your night is good.”
“Thank you,” he replies, nodding once. “You, too.”
“Wait,” Lia calls as he turns. “Could I maybe see the picture?”
“Oh, no, ma’am,” he answers with a chuckle. “I’m not very good. My father told me I should find another hobby, but, well… he’s why I’m here tonight drawing instead of remembering the past.”
Lia shakes her head and offers, “Dads are tough, believe me, I know. If you enjoy drawing, though, keep doing it. Good for you.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” The man pauses and waves generally as he adds, “About your dad, I mean.”
“It is what it is,” Lia says, shrugging. “Are you sure I can’t see the picture?”
“Yes, I am.”
“That’s a shame. I’m sure it’s beautiful.”
“The last scene I drew was a visiting area in a state prison, so it’s a light in this sketchbook.”
“I haven’t been in a prison in years, but I’m sure a setting that grim can’t be easy to draw.”
“I like the challenge, but the distraction was the real reward. After I visit the prison, I go up Getty Center Drive just to get away from it all, you know?”
“It’s gorgeous up there,” Lia sighs.
“You should go sometime, to clear your mind. Even alone with your thoughts, everything just seems more peaceful.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.”
The man nods and steps toward the door. Lia pushes the envelope from her father deeper into her bag before she stands and picks up her drink. She’s ready to talk, and her friend is waiting, like always. As she walks toward her car, Lia smiles.
“Good night,” the man calls from beside his car. “You should really go to Getty after you return your dad’s letter in person.”
Lia’s smile drops as she presses the button to unlock her car. “How did you know that?”
“On second thought,” the man muses lightly, walking toward Lia’s car. “Why don’t we go together? Right now?”
Lia tries to scream, but his hand presses against her mouth, a damp rag silencing her cries.
You yawn as Street continues his story about the motorcycle race he allegedly won last night. Before he can tell you the epic conclusion, a group of at least thirty cops walks into SWAT HQ and heads directly to the situation room. Street silences, and you watch the officers and detectives walk through the building.
“20 Squad, situation room!” Hicks yells. “Now!”
You follow Street inside and find a place at the back to stand. Deacon, Hondo, and Luca enter from the other side and look at you questioningly as they join you. You shrug, and Street stands by Luca as they theorize what the large meeting could mean.
“I’m Detective Ryan Carradine of the Mid-Wilshire division,” Carradine introduces, gesturing for everyone to quiet. “We have patrol officers, Metro SWAT, UCs, and the homicide division from several different stations here today because we have a county-wide case.”
A map with nine red dots appears on the screen behind him. Each dot has a date and time beside it, each one five days apart.
“By which I mean there is a new serial killer in Los Angeles. In the last 45 days, we have located nine bodies, each a female in her early-20s to late-30s. Early this morning, we found Lia Carter, a 24-year-old woman from Rustic Canyon. Carter was attacked sometime between midnight and 2 a.m., and she was left for dead in brush off Getty Center Drive. She’s in critical condition, but if she pulls through, she will be the only survivor.”
“What’s the connection between victims?” a homicide detective inquires.
Carradine tsks, then answers, “Our teams are working on that now. What we’ve got tentatively is the age range, females, and…” He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose as he adds, “They all seem to have strained or nonexistent relationships with their fathers.”
You look at Street, who purses his lips and shrugs.
“Carter was found with an unopened letter from her father stapled to her shirt, he’s serving life in Lancaster State Prison for killing her high school boyfriend,” Carradine explains.
“What does this have to do with us?” Street whispers.
“So, because of the extent of this case, we need everyone in this room on their A-game. If that’s not you, I want you out and I will find someone to take your spot.”
No one moves, so Carradine nods and steps to the side as Commander Hicks joins him.
“I’m Commander Bob Hicks,” he begins, “I’ll be assisting Detective Carradine in an operational capacity. I’m also placing my 20-David SWAT team on standby for anything related to this case. The moment we get a warrant, they’ll be ready to roll.”
“That being said,” Carradine interjects, “Mid-Wilshire’s Metro is prepared to pick up slack for other tactical calls. If you need immediate tactical support for this case, alert Hicks, otherwise, dispatch will get you a team from another station.”
“What other information do you have?” an officer asks. “Suspects, forensics?”
“Short answer: nothing.”
The undercover chief suggests, “We can get UC officers out, advertise poor paternal relationships, try to bring this guy into the light.”
“It won’t work,” an officer states as he enters the situation room. “Lia Carter regained consciousness. She said he knew; that the man had details about her relationship with her father, things she’d never told anyone other than police and therapists.”
“Then UC is out,” Carradine murmurs, rubbing his forehead. “Any other ideas?”
You inhale before you say, “Send me in.”
The officers standing between you and Carradine look back and step to the side so he can see you clearly. Hicks looks from you to Hondo, then back to you, and shakes his head gently.
“If he can get his hands on that kind of information, then he could find out that I fit. I’m the right age, no relationship with dad,” you explain. “It’s as good as a UC as you’re going to get in this.”
Standing beside you, Deacon tenses his jaw. He doesn’t want you to do this; he wants you to be as far from this serial killer as you possibly can, but it’s not his place to ask you to stay. No matter how much he wishes it was.
“Absolutely not,” Hondo says instead.
“There’s way too much at stake,” Luca adds.
“He could know even more,” Street exclaims. “We don’t know his MO, what he does before or after the killings.”
You look to Deacon rather than answering your other teammates, and he licks his lips before he says, “It’s your decision. We’ll be here for you, whether you stay or go.”
Nodding, you keep your eyes on Deacon as you say, “Then let’s catch a serial killer.”
“Oh, he’s got a name now,” a cyber-tech says from one of the desks. “Papers are calling him The Fatherless.”
“Classy,” you murmur.
“Get prepped,” Hicks tells you. “20 Squad, you’re on standby, so stay close.”
“The rest of you stay here to receive your posts,” Carradine announces. “We’ve got five days until he strikes again. So, let’s do this in four.”
In the locker room, you sit in your civvies and prepare for the worst. The door opens as Street walks inside, his steps purposeful and hurried.
“You don’t have to do this,” he says, stopping beside you. “No one will blame you for changing your mind.”
“Street,” you begin.
He squats before you and shakes his head. “No, listen, I understand. Probably better than anyone else here. I know that you still feel that pain, even if it’s the last thing on your mind. Those wounds, the ones that your parents carve into you as a child, they never fully heal, and they reopen easily.”
You nod along with Street. He’s right, you know that. Yet, you know what you have to do.
“We’re glasshouse children, Street, you know that. But I’m done paying for the sins of my father. And I’m not going to let another innocent woman be murdered because of hers.”
Street sighs and leans back against the lockers. “We’re here for you. You better be careful, or I’ll tell Deacon that you have a crush on him.”
You roll your eyes and cross your arms to match Street’s stance. “I’m always careful. Don’t confuse your recklessness for my perfection.”
Hondo knocks on the open door, serious and sympathetic, as he says, “Hospital just called. Lia Carter didn’t make it.”
Over the next two days, every moment outside HQ is spent setting up your role as the perfect target. On a walk, you slow by a park and watch a father and daughter play together, letting yourself long for something you don’t remember having. In crowded areas, you identify men who remind you of your dad or are alone and steer around them, giving yourself a wide berth. You avoid talking about your family, even inviting a friend to dinner just so someone asks how everyone is. No matter where you go, you keep your guard up with your gun within reach. You’re living like someone is watching your every move because you want them to be.
The most important thing you do requires help. With a picture stowed in your backpack, courtesy of the forensic team, you return home at the end of the second day. Carefully, you hide the picture in a book, then make dinner and try to forget it. When you settle in with the book for the night, you “accidentally” find the picture. The ink shows you and your father, cheek-to-cheek and smiling, and you stare at it until it blurs. Then, you shove it back in the book and throw it against the wall. Dropping your head into your hands, you feel like you’re being watched, and if the picture hadn’t affected you more than you anticipated, you might be scared by that.
Sitting alone in a rundown diner, you tap a sugar packet against your cup. It’s been five days since Lia Carter was attacked, and if you aren’t approached by The Fatherless tonight, he’ll kill another woman. You shift as if you can feel the picture of your dad in your pocket. It’s halfway out, so anyone who approaches your table can see it, yet another piece of bait to get yourself on a serial killer’s radar. You wish he could see it so no one else has to see him.
“Evening,” a man greets as he slides onto a barstool directly to your right.
You look over your shoulder, and when the man’s eyes drop to the picture, you fight down a smile. A killer sits beside you, his complete attention on you, and you’re exactly where you wanted to be.
“Good evening,” you reply lightly.
“Young love, huh?” he asks, gesturing with his chin to the young pregnant couple sharing a milkshake at the other side of the diner. “I bet they’ll be fun parents.”
You laugh humorlessly and look down at your sugar packet as you murmur, “I wouldn’t know what that looks like.”
He frowns sympathetically and offers, “Let me get you another drink?”
Though you want to agree and speed through this part, you remain hesitant, a faux vigilance. The Fatherless leaves plenty of room between you, making it feel like you’re in charge.
“I’ll have what she’s having,” he says to the waitress. When you look at him again, he smiles and shrugs. “It looks good.”
“It is good,” you reply, letting your eyes drift back to the happy couple.
“I used to imagine that my parents looked like that,” he muses. “But then I remember my dad was a deadbeat who left before I started preschool.”
“Now that I can understand.” You nod as you look at your empty cup.
“Ready for that drink?” he guesses.
You smile sheepishly, and he turns to order another drink before he slides off the barstool and sits on the other side of your booth.
“Your dad leave too?” he inquires, treating it like another mundane subject.
He asks open-ended questions but feeds you information he shouldn’t even know. You know what he’s doing, and you will play his game for as long as it takes.
“Yeah. I mean, in hindsight, I guess I should’ve seen it coming,” you answer.
“You were older?”
As you continue answering his questions, talking more and touching your drink less, you notice his eyes keep flitting to your cup. There was no evidence of him drugging the previous victims, so he must be pulling out all of the stops for you, his first target who defends herself and others for a living.
“So, you go hang out by yourself when you’re feeling like this?” The Fatherless asks.
“Depends on the day,” you say. “And the feeling.”
“I used to go sit on one of the bridges over the Los Angeles River and just stare into it.”
“That helped?”
“Almost every time. Something about the concrete lining on what should have been natural just… put everything into perspective, I suppose.”
“Typically, I try to escape thoughts of my dad,” you point out with a smile.
“And staring into murky water doesn’t help with that?” he challenges.
“That’s fair. I think I’d like to see it, give it a try.”
“We aren’t far from a viaduct.”
“I didn’t drive,” you complain. “The one time I decide to walk to clear my head.”
“I’ve got a car. If you’re comfortable with that.”
You pretend to deliberate his offer, then smile and stand. He leaves some cash on the table – cheap tipper, you think – and then leads you to a nondescript black Mustang. As he walks to the driver’s side, you slow and memorize the license plate.
“You know, one thing I never considered before is how lucky I am that I don’t have to worry about who will walk me down the aisle,” he says as he opens the door. “I guess your daddy issues are why you go for Sergeant Salt ‘n’ Pepper, though, huh?”
You don’t expect the comment, and it makes you stop. How The Fatherless managed to find the one thing you haven’t thought about for years, your wedding day, and how strange it might be without a father figure confuses you. More, the fact that he brought Deacon into this causes you to freeze.
“C’mon,” he urges, likely sensing your sudden discomfort.
“Sorry,” you say, shaking your head. “Got lost there for a second, didn’t I?”
As you get into the car, you know you’re doing the right thing but are admittedly scared now. If he knows that much about your life presently, who knows how much information he has on your childhood or family. He talks during the short drive to the viaduct, and you force yourself to keep the conversation going.
It’s weird. Your dad is who he is; you’ve moved on from the pain and heartbreak he put you through, and that’s what this guy is supposed to care about. But, because of The Fatherless, you’re thinking about something else. Is it possible that everything that exists or could exist between you and Deacon is just because of that?
Standing on a viaduct over the Los Angeles River, The Fatherless stands too close to you. He reaches for a weapon, but you’re too slow, not even raising your hand before there’s a gun in your face. Defenseless, you stand still as an engine rumbles before footsteps pound against the pavement.
“LAPD SWAT, drop the weapon!” Hondo yells.
“You’re surrounded, man,” Luca adds. “It’s over.”
“Put the gun down and step back!” Hondo repeats.
You stare into his eyes, looking past the gun. The moment he begins to lower his arm, Luca and Street rush forward and detain him before passing him off to another officer. With the police lights reflecting off the water below you, you look to your team as you fight to keep your emotions inside.
“That was the stupidest, most reckless act of incompetence I have ever seen!” Hondo yells, taking a heated step toward you.
Street raises his arm quickly, slapping his hand against Hondo’s chest. When Hondo stops, Street shakes his head but keeps his eyes on you. He can tell there’s something else wrong, more than you not defending yourself. You’re surprised, however, when someone else seems to notice it.
Deacon walks toward you, where you stand at the edge of the concrete platform. Stopping several steps back, Deacon doesn’t touch you but waits for you to do something. Down the bridge from you, the surveillance team that was watching and listening from the moment you stepped into the diner tells Hicks, Hondo, Luca, and Street what The Fatherless said to you.
When they hear that he brought someone you care about now into the conversation, they look back to you and Deacon. Hondo sighs while Luca runs his fingers through his hair, and Street murmurs, “No,” under his breath.
“I told Street I didn’t want the daughters of Los Angeles to pay for the sins of our fathers,” you begin. “But we can’t escape it. No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try to forgive him and move on, I’m still broken inside because of what he did.”
“You’re not broken,” Deacon insists.
“Then why do I look for love everywhere but only find it where I can’t have it?!” you ask, your voice rising as you step back.
Deacon raises his hands as you near the edge of the overpass. Your team moves forward, too, but everything else slows down.
“He was right, Deacon,” you murmur.
“No, he wasn’t.”
“Yes, he was! I love things that I can’t have because one of the few times I loved something with my entire heart, my dad shattered it.”
“Look where you are now,” Deacon demands, his arms still out toward you. “Despite that pain, in spite of everything he did to you, you are here. You have a career you love, a team that loves you like family, a-“
“Please stop saying love,” you interrupt.
“We love you,” Deacon finishes. “And we don’t care about what your dad did or didn’t do because we love you, scars and all."
You wipe a stray tear from your jaw, and Deacon takes another step toward you.
“I love you,” he whispers. “Differently than I’ve ever loved anything before.”
Your breath catches, but Deacon would never lie to you. You sniff and ask, “So, you don’t think I’m attracted to you just because of my daddy issues?”
Deacon smiles at your question, shakes his head, and offers his hand. You place your hand in his, grateful for the warmth of his glove, and then he pulls you against his chest and hugs you tightly. Safe in his arms, you let yourself cry, barely registering his movements as he carefully directs you away from the viaduct.
A moment later, more arms wrap around you as your team joins in your group hug. You laugh through the tears, loving each one for different reasons. And, just as you love them, they love you. This is your family, and this kind of love transcends generational curses and past traumas. You’re all different people, shaped by your pains and experiences, but you fit together. The people in this hug are your family: perfect pieces held together by love.
As Deacon follows you into your home, you know he will offer to stay, but you have something you’ve needed to say for a long time.
“I love you, too,” you admit. “I’m in love with you, and I have been for years.”
Deacon smiles as he offers his hand again; you take it, willing to go anywhere with him. He kisses your forehead and then leads you to the kitchen. The possibilities are endless now that your feelings are out in the open. You can do anything, be anything with Deacon.
For tonight, though, you want to sit with him and remember that you’re loved, and you can love as hard as you want because the sins of your father are not your responsibility nor a weight you must bear. Who you are now is who Deacon loves, and that’s exactly what you want to be.

Lights, Camera, Magic
Agatha Harkness sits in the director's chair of some of your favourite movies. Your world suddenly turns upside down when you're invited to audition for her latest screenplay, "Witching Hour".
And yes, yes I did get the entire idea for this fic from that one WandaVision GIF where Agatha turns around and is in the director's chair all along.
agatha harkness x fem!reader | slow burn | power dynamics | eventual smut... promise | oh and agatha is a top in this, ofc
You pace around the wooden floor of your bedroom. You’d been waiting for this moment for weeks. When your agent called you to tell you you’d been shortlisted to audition for the next Agatha Harkness movie, you couldn’t quite believe it. Your favourite director, and what could potentially be your “big break”.
You’d never imagined that you’d end up in Hollywood. When you were younger, you were always more into books than looks, more into the stars in the sky than the stars on TV. However, you’d been scouted one Tuesday morning whilst grabbing coffees for your office at your dead-end job, the office of which just happened to be near Sunset Boulevard. You were working your first proper job out of college; you hated your boss, and you counted down the days until the weekend.
You thought that the guy in the coffee shop had been joking when he asked you to come along for headshots and see if you could act, then handed you his business card. Maybe it was the fading British accent that he’d picked up on when you were ordering coffees—since moving to the US, if there was one thing you’d found, it was that people just loved to hear you speak. You’d also been told often that you looked like a “classic English rose”, whatever the hell that meant.
Either way, you couldn’t quite believe it when you landed an agent and were suddenly lined up to audition for a supporting role in the next movie that Agatha Harkness directed. It all happened so fast. You’d spent the past couple of weeks rewatching the director’s catalogue of movies (you were particularly fond of the Coven of Curses, and its sequel Cauldron of Chaos…). They were often dark, thrilling, romantic, and more often than not, witchy.
Ironically, that’s also how your friends described you. Witchy. Maybe it was your dark hair and striking green eyes, or perhaps it was that somehow luck always seemed to magically turn in your favour. Spent your time as a kid wishing you could move to the States? No problem, your dad just happened to land a job in California when you were younger. Hating your first proper job out of college? Don’t sweat it, you’re suddenly scouted by one of the best agencies in Hollywood and are now auditioning for the next Agatha Harkness movie.
Manifesting had always worked in your favour, and you’re hoping that this audition brings more of the same.
You gulp as you take a last sip of your iced coffee, you pick up your phone ready to call an Uber. It’s showtime
The drive to the studios is a blur. The traffic out of Santa Monica isn’t too bad, however you suddenly hit bad traffic heading into downtown LA. Then, as if by sheer luck, space opens up in the next lane just before a bottleneck forms. The Uber driver glances at you in the rearview mirror.
"Looks like you’ve got some good timing,” he says with a surprised chuckle.
You force a smile, but your mind is elsewhere. Your hands are clammy, and your heart is thumping in your chest. You’d been to a few auditions before—small ones, commercial work, and even landed roles in some indie shorts—but this... this was different. You’re about to audition for Agatha Harkness, the woman whose films have made waves not just in the industry, but in your life. There was something about the way she captured the delicate line between darkness and beauty, how her characters walked through worlds of magic and mayhem yet stayed so human.
And now, you might get to be part of it.
The Uber pulls up to the gates of the studio. As you step out of the car, you try to shake the jitters that have been slowly creeping up on you. You take a deep breath. You’re here for a reason.
The receptionist at the front desk hands you a visitor's pass, and you make your way through the labyrinthine halls of the studio. You catch glimpses of movie posters lining the walls—some of Agatha’s work, others from blockbuster hits you’d grown up watching. Everything feels bigger, louder, more alive than you imagined.
You stop in front of the casting office, where a line of other hopefuls waits in nervous silence. You join the queue, clutching your script, trying to stay calm. Every person that walks out of the audition room looks either relieved or shattered. You wonder if you’ll be one of the lucky ones.
Finally, your name is called. The door opens, and you’re ushered inside.
The room is surprisingly minimalist. A large wooden table stretches across the centre, with three people sitting behind it. But it’s the woman in the middle who commands your attention—Agatha Harkness herself. Her presence is even more striking than you imagined. Dressed in a purple jumper, her dark brown hair cascades over her shoulders, and her sharp blue eyes are fixed on you. At her collar sits the iconic cameo brooch she’s renowned for wearing. She sits with confidence—one arm draped over the back of her chair, the other resting on the table, holding a pen. She gives a slight nod, acknowledging you, and your breath catches in your throat.
"Whenever you're ready, hon," she says in that cool, measured voice you’ve heard a hundred times in interviews and director’s commentaries.
You steady yourself, standing tall, refusing to let the casual term of endearment throw you off, and begin your lines.
The scene is tense, a moment of confrontation between two witches—one whose power is on the rise, the other on the brink of losing everything. You channel every ounce of focus you have, letting the words flow through you, drawing on the same energy that had always made your friends jokingly call you "witchy."
As you finish, the room falls silent. Agatha's eyes never leave yours, and you have no idea what she’s thinking. She leans forward slightly, fingers steepled, and you can feel your pulse in your throat.
Finally, after what feels like an age, she speaks.
“That was... intriguing,” she says, her tone even. “Tell me something. What draws you to this character?”
You swallow hard. This was the moment that could make or break everything. But instead of the anxiety you were expecting, something else rises in you—confidence.
“She’s more than just timid,” you begin, your voice steadier than you feel. “She is fiercely intelligent, but she’s also deeply afraid of what she desires. She craves knowledge and power, yet she hides that ambition beneath her shy exterior. There’s this constant struggle within her—a fear of losing herself to the darkness she senses growing inside her," you explain. "I think we’ve all felt that at some point—fear of losing ourselves to something bigger, something we can’t understand.”
Agatha studies you for a moment longer, and then, to your surprise, she smiles. It’s a small, secretive smile, but it feels like a victory.
"Interesting perspective," she says softly. "You can wait outside."
You nod and turn to leave, your legs feeling weak as you step out of the room as ordered. The door clicks shut behind you, and the reality of what just happened hits you like a wave. You did it. You stood in front of Agatha Harkness, delivered your lines, and survived.
As you sit in the waiting area, time stretches on, and the nerves return. A few more people are called in, but none of them seem to come out with the same look you did. Finally, after what feels like hours, the casting assistant reappears.
"We’ll be in touch,” she says, handing you a folded piece of paper. "Agatha wanted you to have this."
Your heart leaps as you unfold the note. In sharp, striking handwriting:
I see a spark in you. Let’s nurture it.
Beneath it is a signature:
A. Harkness
You stare at the note, your hands shaking slightly. Did she mean what you think she meant? And even then, what was it that you think that she meant?! Or was this just a cryptic way of keeping you on your toes? Either way, one thing was certain—you were now on Agatha’s radar. And in Hollywood, that was more powerful than any spell. You walk out of the studio, note still clutched in your hand, your mind spinning with the events that just transpired. You’re not even sure how your legs are managing to carry you across the parking lot, your body running on some kind of post-adrenaline autopilot. The cool LA air hits your face, grounding you just enough to keep you moving.
“I see a spark in you. Let’s nurture it.” Agatha Harkness herself saw something in you. You read the words over and over again, trying to hold onto their meaning, but the more you think about them, the more elusive they become. Your eyes examine the cross of every “t”, the bold signature. You can’t help but feel starstruck each time as your index finger traces over the black ink.
A. Harkness
You reach your Uber and slide into the backseat, still holding the note tightly between your fingers. The driver doesn’t say much this time, probably picking up on your dazed expression. The car pulls away from the studio, but your thoughts remain trapped in that minimalist room with Agatha.
As the cityscape of LA blurs past the window, you can't stop wondering: what happens next? Will they call? How soon? And most importantly, did you really impress her, or was she simply intrigued by your potential?
The rest of the night passes in a blur. You try to distract yourself with mindless scrolling on your phone and the muted sound of the TV in the background, but your thoughts keep circling back to the audition. Your roommate comes and goes, her laughter and chatter drifting through the apartment as she talks on her phone to whichever guy has caught her attention this week, her voice fading into the haze surrounding you. In a city where rent prices soar to astronomical heights, sharing a space is a necessity for most twenty-somethings, even if it means listening to the ups and downs of someone else's romantic escapades.
As you lie there, your mind wanders to Agatha Harkness. You can’t help but wonder where she calls home—surely somewhere extraordinary. Perhaps a stunning hillside home in Beverly Hills, vines climbing the walls, offering a glimpse of the sprawling city below. What would her taste be like? Would it mirror the dark, mysterious themes of her films, or would it lean more towards minimalist elegance? These thoughts swirl through your mind, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. At some point, you fall asleep, Agatha’s words echoing in your dreams like a whispered spell. You can almost feel her blue eyes on you just like they were during the audition, a weight that lingers even in your dreams.
The next morning, you're woken by the buzz of your phone. Your heart leaps into your throat as you see the name (or lack thereof) flashing across the screen: No Caller ID.
With a deep breath, you swipe to answer.
“Hello?”
“Is this—” a voice asks, but you cut them off in your excitement.
“Yes, yes this is she!”
There’s a pause, then a soft laugh on the other end. “Good morning to you too, hon.”
It’s her. Agatha Harkness. Her voice is unmistakable—smooth, commanding, dripping with a confidence you can almost feel through the phone.
Your breath catches. “Agatha… I—good morning.”
“I don’t normally make these calls myself,” she begins, her tone matter-of-fact. “But I wanted to tell you personally—you’ve made an impression.”
Your chest tightens. “I—I don’t know what to say.”
You hold your breath, stomach flipping. This could be it.
“I’ve decided,” she continues, her voice measured, teasing even, “that I want you for the part.”
For a moment, the world seems to tilt, and all you can hear is the blood rushing in your ears. “You—you do?”
“Mm-hmm. I see something in you, hon. Something raw, untapped. I think you’re going to bring something special to this role.”
You have to steady yourself against your bedside table, biting your lip to keep from grinning like an idiot.
“I don’t know what to say. Thank you. Really.”
“You’ll know what to say when you’re on set.” There's a pause, and you can almost feel the weight of her eyes on you, even through the phone. “But just a heads up—I’m not easy to impress twice. You’ll need to bring your A-game.”
Her words send a thrill through you, the challenge sparking something in your chest. “I will. I promise.”
“Good girl,” she replies, her tone softening just a touch, almost cooing. You feel your stomach flip at the sound of her praise, heat rushing up your neck. “Welcome to the team, superstar.”
Woah boy, it has been a LONG time since I wrote a fic. I went back-and-forth for the POV on this, settling on second person fem!reader, however I was close to making the protagonist of this fic Rio instead. Thoughts? Comments?! Perhaps this idea is too niche. Can you tell that I've also recently rewatched Mulholland Drive? Highly recommend watching that if you fancy getting more of a feel for this fic. ANYWAY, I felt inspired to write for the first time in so long, I just had to get this down. If anyone does read/like this, I love experimenting with my fics, so any feedback is appreciated!
Chapter 2 is almost finished, coming later today...

Also, on the rare occasion you’re the only one asleep he can take a cute picture of you in his hoodie.

Or lowkey matching accessories.

Tell me again, Baba.
A really great man once tried so hard to get me to understand that there’s no real love in the material world. He told me every day. The only real love that exists here is love for God. I hated when he would talk that way.
My heart ached for him. I wanted so badly for him to experience the kind of real love that I knew lived and walked in this material world. The kind of love you see every day but maybe don’t even realize it’s love. I never told him, but in my head I would swear that there absolutely was real love here. Material world or not, I had felt real love at least once in my life. I did my best to just get through when he would talk about the prison house of an existence we live in. I put my guards up and I refused to hear such horribly negative things about my magical world. I was so deep in a fairytale in my head.
I was free. For the first time in my life I really felt free. Not only was I free, but I was in love. I was so madly in love. It was the kind of love that made me feel invincible. I was on top of the world. I felt beautiful even on my most disgusting days. We lived in a 1985 GMC sportscraft together, and we didn’t shower enough.. so I felt disgusting most days. We drove it from Ohio to California, breaking down the whole way to Santa Monica. I felt crazy and free and so full of life. So beautiful and so excited to live. This is the first time I was ever truly excited to live. Love was everywhere.
Love was in the sand we would always find scattered everywhere in our tiny space. Literally everywhere for years of our lives. There was so much sand. Love was in the coffee shops we would sit at to charge our phones before we had solar power… especially in the blueberry glaze donuts from Philz. Love was in the chipotle we ate for a month straight because we didn’t have any way to cook food for ourselves. Love was always there.
Love was in the joints we shared in bed by the beach. Love was in the Dr. praegers burgers and vegetable spring rolls we always ate once we were able to cook for ourselves. Love was in the ocean when we would swim at Las Tunas during those miserably hot summer days with no air conditioning. Love was in the sweat we dripped as we slept next to each other even on those hot nights during fire season.
Love was in your eyes when you looked at me. Love was in your hands when you touched me. Love was especially on your lips when you kissed me. Love was always present. Real love.
I don’t know where that love has gone.
But it certainly has gone.
I wish I had listened to a little bit more when the great old man would speak of this prison house we live in now that I’m a little older. I wish he was still around, so I could ask him how he managed to get over a heartbreak so painful he stopped believing in love. How he took that love he had for someone who tore him to shreds and turned it to God. How he handled the sleepless nights for so long. Did his hair start falling out like mine is?
I wish I could just call him and tell him I understand and I’m so sorry I didn’t listen better but please could he tell me again. Please, Baba. Tell me again how there is no real love in this material world. Tell me again how no one really loves me but Krishna. No one even knows me but Krishna. All I can do is beg for mercy. Please, Baba, tell me again. I need to hear it.
I wish he was here to tell me all of the things I never wanted to hear. I wish I could take back being such a young and hopeful girl. I wish I would have met him at the age of 27 instead of 21.
I’ve lost the love that once made me feel invincible. My heart is broken. In all honesty it feels broken beyond repair. At least right now.
I keep begging Krishna to please make it make sense. Maybe it’s time I just let go and give all of my love to God.
Im heartbroken again, and he was always right.
There’s no love in this material world. There’s no real happiness in this world. Everything is temporary, and nothing is yours. It never was.
The love I got to experience was never mine to begin with. I’m the fool for thinking it would ever want to stay.
I’ve been ripped out of my fairytale by my hair. I fought so hard to stay where I was. Kicking, screaming, punching, and bleeding to keep my fairytale alive. The fairy tale is dead. I wonder if it was ever really alive. I could have made all of the love up. Maybe I made all of the love up. Maybe I did.
It doesn’t matter now. My fairytale is over. It is dead. I’ve been ripped far away from the magical place that I once loved so much.
I’m back in the material world, and he was always right.
Baba, please tell me again. There is no real love in this material world. Yes, baba. Please tell me again.
#oh god#don’t read this#like really this is personal#i am so sad#I only write when it gets bad again#I don’t think this is how love is supposed to feel#i don’t know anymore

B. Book Early or Take Advantage of Last-Minute Deals
For those looking to save on holiday rentals in Los Angeles, timing is key. Booking several months in advance can help you secure lower rates, especially during peak seasons. However, if you have flexible travel plans, last-minute deals can also offer significant savings. Rental hosts often reduce prices for unbooked properties as the date approaches, making it possible to snag a great deal at the last minute.
C. Leverage Long-Term Stay Discounts
If you’re planning to stay in Los Angeles for an extended period, many hosts on platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo offer discounts for longer stays. This can be a cost-effective option if you’re staying for a week or more, as daily rates often decrease significantly for long-term rentals.
2. Best Neighborhoods for Affordable Holiday Rentals in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is known for its diverse neighborhoods, each offering a unique atmosphere and attractions. While some areas, like Beverly Hills, may be out of reach for budget travelers, there are plenty of neighborhoods where you can find affordable holiday rentals without sacrificing convenience or comfort.
A. Silver Lake
Silver Lake, known for its trendy vibe and hipster culture, is a great option for budget travelers. The neighborhood offers a variety of affordable holiday rentals, from cozy apartments to private rooms in local homes. Silver Lake is also home to many affordable restaurants, coffee shops, and local markets, making it easy to explore the area without spending a fortune. With its proximity to downtown Los Angeles and easy access to public transportation, Silver Lake is an ideal spot for those who want to experience the city without the high cost of staying in tourist-heavy areas.
B. Echo Park
Echo Park, located just north of downtown LA, is another budget-friendly neighborhood with a vibrant local scene. Known for its eclectic mix of indie boutiques, cafes, and cultural landmarks, Echo Park is perfect for travelers looking for an affordable yet trendy place to stay. The neighborhood is well-connected by public transportation, making it easy to reach popular attractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, and Dodger Stadium.
C. Koreatown
Koreatown, one of LA’s most dynamic neighborhoods, offers a range of affordable holiday rentals while still being centrally located. This vibrant area is known for its incredible food scene, with many affordable Korean BBQ spots, cafes, and late-night eateries. It’s also just a short drive or Metro ride away from Venice Beach and Santa Monica, allowing visitors to enjoy LA’s famous coastline without paying beachfront prices.
E. North Hollywood (NoHo)
North Hollywood, or "NoHo," is an up-and-coming neighborhood offering a range of affordable holiday rental options. Located in the San Fernando Valley, NoHo is known for its arts district, local theaters, and eclectic dining scene. While it’s a bit farther from central LA attractions, NoHo’s affordable accommodations and easy access to the Metro Red Line make it a convenient and budget-friendly choice for travelers.
3. Types of Affordable Holiday Rentals in Los Angeles
Los Angeles offers a variety of holiday rental options to suit different budgets and preferences. Whether you’re traveling solo, with family, or in a group, there’s something for everyone.
A. Shared Spaces and Private Rooms
For solo travelers or couples looking for the most affordable options, shared spaces and private rooms in local homes or apartments offer a great way to save money. bOarding.com hosts in LA offer private rooms with access to shared living spaces, providing a budget-friendly alternative to hotels. Shared spaces are also a great way to meet locals and get personalized recommendations for exploring the city.
B. Studio Apartments
Studio apartments are another popular option for budget-conscious travelers. These compact, self-contained units are perfect for solo travelers or couples who want more privacy than a shared room but still want to keep costs low. Many studio rentals come equipped with small kitchens or kitchenettes, allowing you to save money by preparing your own meals.
C. Entire Apartments or Homes
If you’re traveling with family or a group of friends, renting an entire apartment or home can be a cost-effective solution. Splitting the cost of a larger rental among several people often results in lower per-person rates than booking multiple hotel rooms. Look for affordable holiday rentals in neighborhoods like North Hollywood or Koreatown, where you can find spacious homes or apartments at reasonable prices.
D. Hostels and Dorm-Style Accommodations
For travelers who prioritize affordability over privacy, hostels and dorm-style accommodations are available in some parts of Los Angeles. These are the cheapest options and can be a great way to meet fellow travelers. Hostels are typically located in areas like Hollywood and Venice Beach, offering affordable accommodations in popular tourist spots.
4. Tips for Saving Money on Your Holiday Rental in Los Angeles
Staying in an affordable holiday rental is just one way to save money during your trip to Los Angeles. Here are some additional tips to help you stick to your budget:
A. Travel During the Off Season
Los Angeles is a popular destination year-round, but visiting during the off-peak season (typically from October to March) can help you save on accommodations. During these months, rental prices tend to be lower, and you’ll avoid the crowds and higher costs associated with peak travel times.
B. Use Public Transportation
Los Angeles may be known for its car culture, but the city also has a reliable public transportation system, including buses, the Metro Rail, and the DASH shuttle. Opting for public transportation instead of renting a car or relying on rideshare services can help you save money on transportation costs. Many affordable holiday rentals are located near Metro stations, making it easy to explore the city without the expense of car rentals or parking fees.
C. Cook Your Own Meals
Many affordable holiday rentals in Los Angeles come with kitchens or kitchenettes, allowing you to cook your own meals. Dining out in LA can be expensive, but preparing your own breakfast or dinner can help you stick to your budget. Visit local grocery stores or farmers’ markets to pick up fresh ingredients and enjoy a homemade meal.

Finding affordable holiday rentals in Los Angeles doesn’t have to be a challenge. With a wide variety of rental options available across diverse neighborhoods, it’s possible to experience everything this vibrant city has to offer without overspending. Whether you’re staying in trendy Silver Lake, dynamic Koreatown, or up-and-coming North Hollywood, Los Angeles has budget-friendly accommodations to suit every traveler.By booking at bOarding.com in advance, using vacation rental platforms, and taking advantage of public transportation and local dining options, you can make the most of your budget and enjoy a memorable stay in the City of Angels. They've got some really nice options for breakfast and lunch, including a delicious tuna sandwich and an almond croissant. The staff is very friendly and will help you out if you have any questions. They also have a patio area which is great for people watching!
It's located at 1925 Arizona Ave in Santa Monica CA. You can find out more information about this restaurant by clicking the restaurant name or by visiting their website.
This bakery is one of the best places to get fresh bread and pastry. They also have a cafe and a coffee shop. They have a wide selection of baked goods and sandwiches to choose from, and they're all made with great quality ingredients.
The restaurant is open 7 days a week and their hours are from 8am to 4pm. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so if you're looking for a place to grab brunch, then this is the place to go!
Their sourdough is incredible, and their country loaf is probably the best I've ever had. They've got a ton of pastries and breakfast foods too, like their banana creme pie which is so good I ate it twice!
They have a lot of vegetarian options and they are also gluten free. Their sandwiches are also great, especially the turkey club which is a must for any Tartine fan!
You can also get a really good pizza. They have a very tasty crust and the sauce is good!
There are also a few different types of drinks and cocktails available. They have a few beer and wine choices, and they have some very good non-alcoholic options as well.
The restaurant was renovated to a degree, preserving a portion of the chapel, but also reworking the space to accommodate the restaurant's new use. They also updated their electrical and plumbing systems, as well as their restrooms. The space was designed to be sensitive to the historic structure, retaining its cruciform plan and religious-themed stained glass.

Day 19: Nick Vaughan (Before We Go)
25 Days Of CHRIS-mas Masterlist // Main Masterlist
It was a blistering day in July, Independence Day had come and gone and there was a triple digit heatwave for the next ten days.
You were miserable. It was hot, the air con unit you'd promised her you'd get fixed still waiting on that call. Instead, you were stuck in your office, the fan on, the windows open and boredom from failure fully setting in.
Bryan was expecting your next script on his desk in two weeks and the topic was out and out bullshit. A holiday romantic comedy filled with literally all the clichés. Much not unlike your piece seven years ago that settled up your finances for a good while.
Your life was far different than it was back then. At least in some sense.
Romantically, you'd fallen for a woman who practically fell out of the sky, left her fiance for you at the altar and then three years later, the two of you were no longer a thing.
It broke you, soiled your soul and a lot like Mallory, made you swear off love.
And you had… until she had waltzed into your life like a hurricane. Literally. In all her glory, two Christmases ago.
You were leaving a shop in Santa Monica and as you swung the door open, you hit her square in the face. The next thing you saw was a lot of blood and heard a crunch over the chime of the door.
You'd broken her nose while leaving the shop.
Mortified, you’d apologised and tried to let her allow you to run her to the hospital. She had declined, because, let’s face it, she had no idea who you were. Instead she had taken a cab but not before you’d passed her your number and begged she at least messaged you to let you know she was okay.
It took a week, but you finally heard from her. A text telling you she was sorry for taking so long but she was reaching out anyway and when she told you the details of her emergency room visit, you cursed yourself even more. But those messages didn't end there. And after four days of profusely apologizing and offering to foot her medical bill for the incident, she relented and to sweeten the deal you offered coffee. But that was to start, however and just before the Christmas holiday, the two of you were on your first date.
Things had moved slowly, both of you had been out of the game so to speak after suffering equally damaging break ups- her ex fiancé leaving LA with her now ex-best friend.
It took nearly a year before you'd asked her to move in, and that was six and a half months ago. You didn't regret the decision. Not one bit of it. Not taking the time to find a place for you both, not settling into a beachside, pint sized place because you both loved the beach and you found it a peaceful place to write when you could.
You did regret however the slump you were in and agreeing to this push Bryan threw at you.
The door opened and she called your name through the apartment.
You hollered back your location and in she bounced like she did at the end of her day, molding the minds of you children in preschool.
"Hi," she kissed you, plopping into your lap.
"Hi." You smiled softly.
"How's the holiday rom com coming?"
“Fucking shit.”
"Oh, babe, I'm sorry," she giggled with a sigh. "Look, it's Friday, why don't we order some pizza, watch those cheesy Hallmark movies on the DVR for inspiration and drink whatever beer we have in the fridge?"
“Yeah, I need a break, my brain feels… oh…oh!” Your eyes grew wide as the sudden inspiration rolled over you.
"What?" She sat up straight in your lap.
“Break…babe, I can use our story!”
Her eyes went wide as a grin plastered over her lips and then she frowned and pursed those same beautiful, kissable lips. "It took you two weeks to come up with that?"
“I didn’t think,” you shrugged.
She laughed and shook her head, "you're a boy, they never do." She snorted and hopped off your lap, but not before kissing you and patting your chest.
"I'll order pizza and get the beer. I guess it's Hallmark and I on the couch tonight while you get to work." She said with a wink and disappeared.
You pondered for a moment before you shut the laptop down, it could wait. Now you knew where you were going with it, you’d have it done in the next week.

*****
Unfortunately the next couple weeks were so loaded with back-to-back additional training and drills that Logan was unable to follow his own suggestion about getting off base with Keegan.
Today they had been ordered out to the shooting house, bright and early at six am, and Logan was operating on autopilot, struggling to put one foot in front of the other.
When Hesh and Logan arrived with the rest of the greenies, Logan had to blink a few times to make sure that he was actually seeing Keegan, along with Ajax, Kick, and Neptune waiting for them and that it wasn’t a trick of the bright sun nor the early time messing with his perception. His eyes scanned over the men, glad to see Kick and Ajax looking better, no slings or crutches remaining. He shot a quick but discreet smile at Keegan and then stood at attention with the rest of his class, waiting for instruction.
“Two lessons we want you to take away from today’s runs. One, stealth. And two, communicating with minimal sounds.” Keegan started off, walking along the line of greenies. “Kick and I will be in the house, in different rooms from the hostage. If we hear you before you take us down, the clock resets.”
“Ajax and I will be watching from up top. Final selection is coming up soon, and our team is one that will be looking for new recruits. Impress us,” Neptune said. Logan was fairly sure he could feel his gaze rest on himself and Hesh before turning back to the group. “Groups of four, let’s go!”
The soldiers scattered, quickly choosing their teams. Logan glanced over at Hesh, who nodded, and then roped in Brian and Erica to finish off their team. Logan kept to himself most of the time, and combined with his mutism, generally hadn’t made many friends. Greenies were a competitive bunch as well, constantly competing with each other, trying to stay near the top of the list for selection. Hesh knew Brian back from when he first enlisted, and they often ran drills with Erica as well, as she was more likely to be excluded from the other teams. What most of the greenies failed to recognize is that Erica was the best shooter of them all; and being constantly underestimated made her even more of a threat.
Logan picked up his weapons, doing a quick check to ensure they were loaded with paint balls only. He slid his side arm into the holster, his rifle over his shoulder, and then watched as the rest of his team did the same. All good? He signed, looking over at Brian, who was lagging a bit behind the rest of them.
“All good, Logan,” Erica replied, the other two nodding in agreement. As they moved into position, Erica nudged Hesh’s shoulder. “Any idea why one of the top Tier One teams is doing drills with us?” she whispered, taking a quick glance up to where Ajax and Neptune were standing.
Logan followed her gaze up, and was surprised to see that his dad was up there too. Maybe they were finally getting ready for some selections.
“Why would I know?” Hesh whispered back, catching Logan’s eye to motion towards their father.
“‘Cause you two are all chummy with these guys,” Brian inserted, a bit louder than the rest of the conversation, resulting in the group ahead of them glaring back.
“Just because Logan’s second calling in life is as a coffee-making guru doesn’t make us friends with a Tier One team,” Hesh replied quieter, sending a wink in Logan’s direction. Logan lightly punched Hesh’s shoulder in response. “Besides, if they are looking for guys -” Hesh paused, looking in Erica’s direction, “-or gals for their team, of course they want to see us in action.”
A loud beep went off, indicating that the previous team had been heard and had to restart.
“Okay, let’s go kick some ass, quietly,” Erica said with a grin, as they took a step closer to the entrance, as the difficulty of the course started to set in with the rest of the groups, as the buzzer went off again.
Finally after another five restarts, the first group made it through. Now it was their turn. Logan was feeling fairly confident, having snuck up on Keegan before, but he was still bothered by Brian’s comment about them being chummy with the Tier One team. Shaking his head, he tried to clear his mind of any worries. They weren’t relevant at the moment, the drill was.
Let’s go, signaled Hesh, as the four of them silently entered the building, Logan waiting for Erica to fall in second, and then Brian before he picked up the rear. Time to get this done.
*
Logan was exhausted. Their team had to run the drill only two times, but most of the other teams had to run it much more than that, some not passing it at all. Then Neptune had them work on their stealth walking with full gear on different floor surfaces. Everything hurt, his feet, his calves, his thighs, from the small but difficult effort of being light on your feet while moving around heavy gear.
He wasn’t the only one feeling it either, all of the greenies that were lined up were looking uncomfortable, shifting their weight and so forth, everyone hoping that the drills were over for the day.
“Good work everyone,” Keegan commented. Logan tried not to react too obviously to the praise, but couldn’t help but smile when Keegan looked at him. “You’re done for the day. Hit the showers, you all stink.” He wrinkled his nose and walked back towards his teammates.
The four of them started walking slowly back to the barracks, everyone glad to be done and relieved of their packs.
“Hey, want to go drinking tonight? We should celebrate our win today,” Brian suggested, looking around at the group. Erica and Hesh quickly nodded, but Logan shook his head, realizing that that night might work to take Keegan out.
I’m going to rack out, Logan signed, using the drills as an excuse to get out of the group trip. He wouldn’t have minded going with his team, but would much prefer seeing Keegan, the man already responding with a yes to his text message. Logan had the quickest shower ever and then forced himself to not go running back to his room, needing to keep up the facade of being tired. But as soon as he got into the room, he started rooting through his closet, looking for something appropriate to wear.
With a quiet ‘Aha’ when Logan finally found the tight, almost see-through black shirt he was looking for stuffed in the back of the closet, he held it up to the light, making sure it wasn’t dirty. Pulling out his to-go bag, he emptied the normal contents onto his bed, and carefully placed the top in it, along with a small make up bag. He then rummaged through Hesh’s closet, knowing that his brother wouldn’t notice him stealing the pair of jeans that he was going to wear, Hesh often complaining that they were too tight to wear comfortably.
Logan then slid on a basic pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and headed on out.
*
Keegan was currently glaring at Kick, the other man laughing as he tried on shirt after shirt in a panic. “Kick, either shut up or get out, you’re not helping,” Keegan muttered as he looked through his closet again. Logan had said to wear something for dancing, that he had a club in mind, and Keegan felt lost. Dancing wasn’t really his thing, and as he went through his sparse clothing, he wasn’t sure he had something that would work.
“I don’t think you know what you’re looking for,” Kick shot back, as he sat sprawled out on Keegan’s bed.
Keegan sighed, turning around to face his friend. “What do you wear to a club?” he finally asked, trying to not feel too embarrassed about the question.
“You’re asking the wrong person, dude,” Kick said in response, hopping to his feet. “I’ll go find Ajax, he’ll know -” he started to say when the man in question walked into the room.
“-I’ll know what?” Ajax asked, looking at the two of them.
“What Keegan should wear to a club with Logan,” Kick quickly filled in, Keegan nodding along.
Ajax looked at Keegan and then into his closet. Shaking his head, he reached into his own closet, pulling out a few items. “Okay, let’s try these.”
Keegan pulled on the slim black trousers, and the dark grey top that Ajax had handed him, turning to look in the mirror, turning beat red as Kick and Ajax started to clap and whistle. “Yeah, this should be good,” he mumbled, refusing to look either man in the eye.
“Throw your leather jacket on top, and you’re good to go,” Ajax said, clapping him on the back.
“Don’t be out too late,” Kick teased as he headed out, Keegan sticking his middle finger out behind him in response. He picked up his pace, having gotten a text that Logan was waiting out front for him.

"yes yes yes yes," you moan as yuta eats you out.
"y/n, you look amazing. your face flushed, your lips as red as cherries, and your pussy, well i have no words for that." your face flushes even more from the compliment.
yuta adds a third finger and you roll your eyes. "fuck, i'm gonna cum." you whine.
"come for us, baby," you hear mark whispering in your ear. “let us see how beautiful you look when you cum.”
you wake up startled. your forehead is full of sweat and your hair is sticking to the back of your it. you swallow slowly as you sit on the bed and try to control your breathing. you don’t even realise you are panting.
what the hell was that? why is your mind tricking you in that way and making you have wet dreams about these two men? as if it isn’t hard enough.
you run a hand through your hair and get up from the bed going downstairs. it seems that johnny and jisung aren’t up yet. you need to focus on something else or your mind won’t stop replaying your steamy dream, and that’s the last thing you need right now.
you make breakfast and then get ready to open the shop. luckily, jungwoo has arrived earlier and he has already opened. you enter the shop and spot jaehyun talking to jungwoo about some switches.
“good morning,” you mutter.
jaehyun turns, surprised as if he isn’t expecting you. jungwoo smiles at you. “you're early today, y/n.”
“couldn’ts sleep,” you shrug and walk next to jaehyun. “i recommend the red one. it’s a better fit for your car.” you tell jaehyun.
he nods. “thanks.” he rubs his nape. “do you think we can talk?”
“i’ll be… at the office,” jungwoo gives you privacy and locks himself in the small office.
you turn your face to jaehyun. “what do you need?”
jaehyun sighs and rests his hands on the counter. “i didn’t know anything about it. i found out he was alive like almost two months ago…” he scrunches his face. “i’m sorry.”
you slowly nod. “i know.”
jaehyun frowns. “hold on, you’re not gonna yell at me or something?”
“you want me to yell at you?” you ask him.
“no, but… i thought you hated me and didn’t want to be my friend anymore,” jaehyun exhales in relief.
“dude, i had your dick in my mouth,” you remind him. “nothing can beat that.”
jaehyun laughs. “so, are we good?”
“yeah,” you reply to him. “but if you ever lie to me again i will chop off your balls.”
“you are a sadist.”
“stop whining and come here,” you open your arms.
jaehyun goes around the counter and hugs you. “i also knew you wouldn’t last too much time upset at me.”
you squint your eyes and look at him when he pulls away. “i can still regret it.”
“you won’t, and you know why? because i am your best friend and you need to rant about the situation,” he beams proudly.
“well, you’re right,” you murmur. “my mind is fucking me up and i don’t know what to do.”
jaehyun wraps an arm around your shoulder. “listen, y/n, fuck your mind. listen to your heart, does it beat faster when you see mark or when you see yuta?”
“beats pretty much in the same way for both,” you groan. “i’m even having wet dreams with them, jaehyun!” you rest your head on his shoulder. “i’m sick.”
“well, my advice is go poly!” he smiles and you stare at him. “yeah, never mind. that wouldn’t work. yuta is too possessive.”
“i just remembered why i never ask you for advice,” you sigh.
jaehyun giggles. “you want me to be real honest?” you nod. “you like mark and maybe there are more feelings there involved, but how do you feel about yuta? you might still have feelings for him?”
you pinch your nose. “it’s… complicated? weird? i mean, i never felt like that for anyone before. yuta is the love of my life?”
jaehyun shrugs. “could be yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s your only love of your life. you still can have one more, or two, or three…”
“could you please run me over?” you sigh dramatically.
jaehyun chuckles. “y/n, i’m serious. you need to make your mind up before someone gets hurt.”
“that doesn’t help either,” you groan, pushing him away.
you are walking down the santa monica pier with mark at your side. after he picked you up that afternoon, he told you he'd take you to your favorite place. you never revealed him that, but replied he got a little help from jisung.
you are walking close together, shoulders brushing. and mark desperately wants to hold your hand. he ends up taking your hand into yours and you smile slightly squeezing his hand.
“the sun is setting.” you say. mark drags his eyes away from you and focuses on the water. the way the waves move toward the skyline.
the sunset reflects onto the water, pinks, oranges, and purples all blending with blue. It’s beautiful.
“it’s breathtaking.” he states, turning his head to look back at you.
“yeah. it's my favorite part of the day," you say, sounding awed. mark smiles at you, big and lopsided.
“i feel the same way,” he confesses, staring at you.
you blush and decide to avoid his eyes. you two stand there in silence for a while, holding hands. once it’s nearly dark, mark and you walk to the pacific park entrance and he smiles looking at the colorful roller coaster. “let’s ride it.”
"that looks,” you pause as you look up and watch the cart fly along the metal, the occupants all screeching with excitement as they were flipped upside down and around sharp curves, “interesting.”
"come on!" he takes your hand, yanking you towards the line.
how are you supposed to say to mark you're scared of roller coaster and you have never rode one? but you can't. he looks so excited and so thrilled about it that your heart melts.
you don't have to wait long before you are next to load onto the cart. mark looks over and sees that you are biting your bottom lip as the previous passengers file out of their seats.
“y/n, you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to,” mark looks at you.
“no, I want to do this.”
“good,” mark nods, “because it’s our turn.”
mark helps your with placing the seatbelt on, laughing when he realizes that you never wear a seatbelt when you drive but somehow you trust it. when the ride operators come around and pushes the metal bar onto your laps, you squint down at it and tilted your head.
“do they really expect this to stop us from falling out?” you whisper and yank on the bar a couple times, making the whole cart shake.
“come on baby, you know about physics,” mark reaches over and places one hand on top of you to stop the shaking.
"i know nothing about physics," you frown, looking at him.
"you do," he holds your hand. "just relax, baby. if we fall, we won't know."
you groan and squeeze at his hand. "i'm gonna yank your hair off."
mark chuckles and when the car begins moving forward, the grip that you have on the bar tightens. you begin creeping up the first hill, and mark looks over at you to try and calm your nerves.
“why don't you ride roller coasters?”
you rub your forehead. “my best friend died on a roller coaster. this shit collapsed and she died."
"oh shit, y/n... i'm sorry," mark stares at you and groans. "fuck, i'm sorry. i'll talk to guys so we can get off ri-"
mark stops talking when he sees you laughing and throw your head back. he cocks an eyebrow. "what's so funny, baby?"
"i'm shitting on you, mark," you wipe your eyes.
mark squints his eyes and pulls away from you. the roller coaster stops once you're on the highest point. you refuse to look down because you don't want to see the sea and how tall you are. mark slightly moves, making the cart move. you hiss at him. "stop, mark."
"what?" he smiles at you, moving again.
you whine and you grip at the bar. "mark!" you groan. "stop it or i swear to god i'm gonna run your over with my car."
mark laughs and he comes near you. "you're so cute when you get mad."
"and i'll get cuter when i chop off your balls," you stare at him.
he pouts. "truce?"
"fine. but dinner's on you."
after leaving the pier, mark takes you to his favorite restaurant. he then takes you home and parks right outside. he turns to you and smirks. "i had a great time."
"yeah well, wish i could i say the same," you joke.
mark laughs and leans to give you a kiss. you kiss him back and he grabs your jaw to kiss you better. you pull away and smile tilting your head to the side. "just a simple kiss for you, lee."
mark nods. "as my girl wishes."
you roll your eyes. "you can be very cheesy sometimes, did you know?"
"yep." he winks at you.
you sigh. "i can't stand you."
"too bad. you're already so into me."
"just... go home, mark." you giggle and give him a final kiss. he nods and kisses you back. "text me when you get there."

on a saturday night, doyoung ask you, no, demands you to be at a party he's throwing. you don't want to go, but you can't risk screwing yuta's plan.
you arrive at the party’s locations and you find some known faces. you spot doyoung talking to a red haired man and you assume he’s his friend. you turn around, walking through the drunk and high people dancing. you have a cup in your hand, but you’re not drinking. you need to keep your head clear in case something happens.
as you’re trying to make your way to the bar so you can take a seat, you meet with someone’s chest. you look up and your eyes wide open. it’s jisung.
what the hell is he doing there?
“what in the world are you doing here?” you hiss at him.
“my friend invited me,” he shrugs.
“are you stupid, jisung?” you look at him. “this is doyoung’s party!”
“w-what?” he stutters. “i didn’t know. my friend just told me to come, but i can’t find her anywhere.”
“tell your… friend you had to go.” you advise him. “please. i don’t want doyoung to see you.”
“too late.”
“why?” you frown.
“he’s walking to us.”
you suddenly feel an arm around your shoulders and doyoung pulls you closer to him. he smiles. “who is this young man, y/n?”
you gulp. “he’s my uhm… my brother.”
doyoung smiles looking at jisung and extends his hand. “nice to meet you. i’m doyoung.”
jisung looks at you and then eyes doyoung’s hand. he slightly shakes it. “hi. i uhm… i’m jisung.”
“jisung.” doyoung nods. “i’ll remember that name.”
you remove doyoung’s arm and get away from him. “we’re actually leaving.”
“already?” doyoung cocks an eyebrow. “but the party just started.”
“i have homework,” jisung suddenly says.
“homework?” doyoung laughs. “okay. young kid needs to finish his tasks.”
“thanks for having me,” you tell doyoung. “see you later.”
“uhm… g-goodbye.” jisung mutters.
you take jisung by the arm and walk out of the party. you both are shaking but try to act as nonchalant as possible.
doyoung watches you two leave and when he feels someone’s presence next to him, he doesn’t even flinch. “told you he’d come.”
doyoung takes a bale of cash and hands them to the person standing next to him. “how did you convince him?” he turns to them.
“he’s a man,” the person fixes their hair. “a bit of flirting and he was ready to leave his family.”
doyoung nods. “yves, right?”
“yes.”
“nice job. i’ll see you around.”
(...)
the days go by and you and johnny come to the agreement that jisung will not leave the house until the situation is fixed, as it is very risky and doyoung knows about his existence, although he still does not know the identity of 'jwi'.
one night, after mark drops you off he decides to walk to the door and when you two are having a mini make out session, yuta decides to show up.
the sensation you get is confusing. you feel you're cheating on yuta and that makes you feel guilty. but you also like mark, and the more you spend time with him, the more feelings you get for him.
on the other hand, you keep having dreams where the three of you are together and you hate it.
you slightly pull away from mark and look at yuta. he only stares at you. "good evening."
you press your lips together and mark's grip on your waist tightens. "is johnny inside?"
you nod. "yes. you can come in."
yuta shakes his head. "can you tell him i'm outside please? i just need to give him something."
"okay. i'll be right back," you murmur.
you get into your house looking for johnny. mark leans against the wall, with his hands inside his jeans pockets. yuta looks everywhere but at him and it's uncomfortable.
an awkward situation.
"so..." yuta breaks the silence. "you dating my wife."
mark stares at him and blinks. "yeah."
yuta nods, slowly crossing his arms on his chest. "enjoy the time you still have left with her."
mark scoffs, almost laughing. "you're that insecure you need to threat me? you need to work harder, buddy."
"you're allowed to think whatever you want, mark," yuta shrugs. "y/n loves me. don't tell me you don't see it."
"i don't because i'm sure about her feelings towards me," mark smiles.
"please mark, you'll end up believing she's over me and hurt yourself," yuta tilts his head to the side. "i'd recommend you to walk away for once."
"i'm not the type that walks away," mark spits, looking at him.
you and johnny show up at the door and johnny greets yuta. he hands him a black usb and tells him he needs to go. he approaches you and kiss your cheek goodbye. yuta smiles at you and before he turns around to leave, he winks at you. mark rolls his eyes and johnny feels awkwardly trapped.
mark says goodbye seconds later but he gives you a kiss on the mouth, making johnny feel more uncomfortable. his eyes go everywhere, trying to avoid the scene of you kissing mark. it's gross.
"okay, get a room now. i can see the tongues from here," johnny makes a disgusted face.
"goodnight, baby. sleep tight." mark kisses your forehead.
"you too," you smile at him.
mark says goodbye to johnny and you watch him get into his car. once you and Johnny are back inside the house, johnny rubs his cheek. "girl, you need to do something about it."
"about what?" you ask him.
"about the two desperate dicks that were outside minutes ago," johnny scoffs. "didnt you feel the tension between those two? i thought they would start beating each other at any second."
"I don't want to talk about it," you state.
"you always avoid talking about it, but you eventually will have to choose one." johnny cocks an eyebrow. "or maybe convince them to start a relationship with the three of you."
"you're so annoying, johnny. just... go away." you wave a hand to shoo him away.
"you can shoo me away but you know you need to choose one." he shrugs. "it's not fair and you know it."
you sigh. "i know."
