Hey!! I don’t always make connections between people’s twitch names and their Tumblr names so it’s really cool to know that’s you! 💞 Setting up to stream kinda takes longer depending on how complex your setup is.

For me, I started off streaming from the Xbox One, and that was really easy! All I needed was the Twitch app on the console and on my phone, a usb webcam (with a usb extension cord so I could put it where I wanted), and a headset so I could hear the game and capture my voice. I also recommend a cheap phone tripod so you can see your chat easily. I also invested in an Ethernet cable, and that made the stream much smoother.

If you’re starting from a computer, it’s a bit more complicated but overall better. You’ll want to download OBS, which will let you regulate what your stream captures (webcam, audio, game, etc). I don’t recommend trying to stream from a computer with less than 8gb of RAM— my laptop had 4 and really struggled.

I don’t want to make it sound overly complicated, but I’m not the best person to explain it. I’ve had a TON of help from friends who know more about it than I do (especially its__otter ), so I would highly recommend looking into YouTube tutorials on how to get started on your preferred platform! Streaming is super fun, and I’m so glad that I’ve been met with so much support and encouragement while I figure it out 💞

The BEST Gaming Headset Models for $100 or Less

Gaming is an expensive hobby, and particularly more so with the holiday season coming up. With prices elsewhere going up, it’s understandable that people want to keep their outgoings low.

A pair of headphones makes a great Christmas present, but the best ones can set you back well over $200. In my household, that wasn’t too far off the Christmas budget I was allowed so I wouldn’t want it spent all on one thing.

Below is a list of headphones that won’t have you eating Ramen noodles like a college student for a month, but that will also give you an experience that isn’t reflected by the cheap prices.

For those penny pinchers out there, my aim is to find the best gaming headset under 100 bucks.

PDP Afterglow

In order to stand out from the many other options on the headset market, you’ve got to do something different and this is exactly what the PDP Afterglow does with this wireless headset.

The headband and earcups are illuminated brightly with electric blue LEDs under see-through, flexible plastic. The headset itself looks like something out of Tron and even the boom mic has an LED to indicate whether it’s muted or not.

Thankfully, if you’re not into the flashy show of the headset then you can dim the lights or turn them off.

The headband itself is rather peculiar. There are two parts; the first is the transparent plastic headband that loops around a lot higher than the actual headband that fits onto your head. In the dark, it looks a bit like a halo hovering over you.

The second part of the headband is the part that rests on your head. I like the design of this as there are two flexible, metal cables designed to reduce the tension and allows the headset to “automatically” adjust to different shaped heads. This is the first time I’ve seen this design and I’m a big fan of it, although it can seem a little tight.

However, the headset is really comfortable and I wore it for a few hours without any complaints, so it’ll suit long gaming sessions. The earcups and the headband themselves are a soft leather material designed to keep them on your head for as long as possible.

You’d be mistaken to think that PDP went into all the effort of making the headphones look flashy (literally) without putting much time into creating a headset that sounds good.

The sound quality of the Afterglow is great and way more than you’d expect from a pair of headphones at this price, and design. I’ve used them on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 and I was pleasantly surprised that the sound quality remained high for both consoles. They can also be used for PC and Mac.

There are a few features to complement the sound such as being able to switch between a bass boost that is big and well-defined, pure audio that has good clarity and balance, or having a more immersive and wider sound. My personal favorite is the immersive sound as it adds a bit more depth to the headphones, though you may prefer otherwise.

Overall, the PDP Afterglow headphones really are something special for the price of $79. It’s definitely one of the best gaming headsets under 100 bones. For your $79, you’ll get two huge 50mm speakers tuned by a Hollywood production studio that will reduce distortion, are wireless, can be used across different consoles, and they look pretty funky.

Turtle Beach Earforce PX22

If you want a cheap headset that’s going to give you great sound and comfort, then you really shouldn’t look much further than Turtle Beach in my opinion.

Turtle Beach are the go-to brand for casual gamers that want an enhanced audio experience. For less than $100, I’m going to look at one of my favorite headsets: the PX22 that’ll set you back about $80.

The design of this headset itself is very basic compared to the previous headset but similar to the PX21 which we reviewed here. It’s a sturdy piece of equipment that feels very solid and lightweight so it’s perfect for a daily commute if you want to plug them in to listen to music.

The earcups and headbands follow a familiar pattern in Turtle Beach’s line of products with a “closed” type style to significantly reduce outside noise. They’re also padded with a soft, memory foam leather to reduce pressure and mold to your head. To top it off, there is a thin, breathable material under the headband and earcups to ensure your head doesn’t get too hot whilst you’re wearing them.

In all, they’re super comfortable and I’ve never had any problems with ear fatigue or my head hurting. The blue stitching and blue plastic on the headphones also give the PX22s a sleek look to both feel good and look good.

The headset itself is wired and comes with a microphone that isn’t detachable, but it’s super flexible so that you can twist it to whatever position you like.

There are features with the PX22 that you’ll find in other Turtle Beach headsets such as having two different volume controls for game audio and chat audio. You’re even able to plug it into your cell phone and speak to your friends whilst gaming, if you so wish. Thankfully, they won’t hear all the explosions and guns firing.

The PX22s come equipped with a 5.1 surround sound which will definitely heighten your experience playing games. I used them for Call of Duty and other war games and you’ll be immersed into a world that’ll have you thinking guns are being fired literally right next to you. They’re that good.

Even without the use of the surround sound, the two 50mm drivers provide a high quality sound that makes the PX22s at $80 seem like a steal. You’ll be taken aback at how good they are for this price, though if you’re pushing the headphones to the limit you’ll notice they’re not as crisp as they could be.

I’d say the PX22s are a solid headset for the price and are definitely better for the casual gamers looking to play in a quieter environment at home or simply to get a bit more out of a game. For the price, you can’t go wrong and I’d personally say look no further than this headset, even if the wires are a bit messy.

Skullcandy Slyr

The last on my list is the Skullcandy Slyr. This is a wired headset that again can be used across all consoles and a PC or Mac.

The first noticeable thing about this headset is its design. It’s not as flamboyant as the Afterglow, but it’s a bit more blasé than the PX22s. The best way to describe it I think is “streamline” and the style of the mic blends well with the rest of the design.

The plastic body of the headset is strong but I don’t have a lot of confidence in its sturdiness. The headset rattles a little and feels shaky when you move it around but it’s rigid enough whilst you’re wearing it.

Overall, it’s an extremely comfortable headset. The earcups aren’t as big as others and are made from a thick, foam padding that has a cloth material. I lasted a couple of hours wearing it, but I’m big on leather on headsets and this got a bit bothersome for my ears. I’d also prefer bigger earcups that didn’t feel so tight, but others may go for this style.

The wire for the headset is really long which is handy if you’re sitting far away from your console, and all the controls are on the mixer dongle attached to the wires. With this, you can control the volume, audio and volume levels and also play around with the equalizer.

Here, you can toggle between three modes: Precision, Bass and Supreme. The latter being my personal favorite as it seems more rounded, with Precision mode offering more punch and emphasizing things like footsteps and explosions. Bass mode is self-explanatory.

For the shortcomings in the design, the sound quality is really something. It doesn’t feature surround sound but it’s immersive and has enough depth as a whole for you not to notice. Like the PX22s, if you’re pushing them to limit then you’ll notice they’re not as crisp but it’ a very good headset that can get extremely loud.

The ability to switch between different modes is a big plus with the sound, although not unique. The Skullcandy Slyr could perhaps benefit with surround sound to take it up a notch but it’s very similar in sound to the PX22s. This puts the SLYR on a level above other headphones, in my opinion, but is it enough to compete for top spot?

PDP Afterglow

In search for the best gaming headset under 100 smackers, I’ve looked at three unique headsets. All offer high quality sound and a variety of different features as well as styles.

However, I think there’s a distinct gap between top spot and the two runners up. I’d say that of the three, despite it’s crazy design, the PDP Afterglow should be crowned the best gaming headset under $100.

The Turtle Beach PX22 and the Skullcandy Slyr are very similar in terms of sound quality but I felt I got just that bit more out of the Afterglow with it’s impressive sound modes. Having a Hollywood production studio fine-tune its sound should say enough.

If I was to judge purely on design, however, Turtle Beach would come out on top. I’m not a big fan of the quirky designs and Turtle Beach’s looks a lot more sophisticated.

All three are extremely good headsets for their respective prices, but in terms of the overall sound and comfort, look no further than the PDP Afterglow.

I am desperate to leave the living situation I am in. I need help. I have tried other place in the past and not a budge. It's a stretch for me to try here. It's a hit or miss deal.

I am 21 years old, working 40+ hours a week with $10 an hour, no vehicle* and I am living with my homophobic family. This has been my life for a while now in this broken down house, literally. I'm in hell.

I do love my job and the family I work but 10 and hour doesn't cut it to live on my own. I hate asking money from them because they have treated me so well in the past. I always feel guilty asking. (This family has gave me gifts amd money to help me get items I need like the special boots I had to order. I need to replace them since they are beat up but they were not cheap for me and work helped me.)

These are the KURU Boots they helped me get because I work outside all day and I am on my feet. I have had these for around six months but they are done. I need to buy a new pair of KURU shoes but I am holding off for at least a few more weeks. (I have plantar faciatis. Work has worked around that fact with me.)

Before you ask, I have tried to do another job, ended up quitting because it was too much to go from outside retail (from 8am-6pm depending on what day it was) to a restaurant (on weekend nights) and didn't get to go home til around midnight a few times? (and for them to ignore some of my notes on my resume about my mental health? I was not going to stay so I quit there and continued to work at my current job.) I have applied for other part time jobs and got one call back but couldn't make it and asked to be rescheduled and they say' "Yes. We can do that." Then that time comes and never get another call?

Support from third parties is still lacking though, so you won’t be able to play popular titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch is also the least powerful console on the market. This means third-party games like The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt and FIFA 20 will be graphically inferior to other console versions - you just have to decide if portability is worth the graphical downgrade. We certainly think so.

3. Xbox One S: Best value

In many ways the Xbox One S shares the same pros and cons as its bigger brother, the Xbox One X. Both offer fantastic multimedia options, the exceptional value of Xbox Game Pass and a built-in 4K Blu Ray Player. At the same time, Microsoft’s Xbox has a weaker lineup of exclusive games when compared to Sony’s PS4 and Nintendo’s Switch. You won’t be short of games to play, but you’ll miss out on some heavy hitters. The UI is still clunkier than we’d like too.

Where the Xbox One S differentiates itself is in power and cost, forgoing the former to offer huge savings on the latter. If you’re looking for value for money, you’ll be hard beat to find better than the Xbox One S. It’s almost worth buying for the 4K Blu-ray player alone.

If you’re looking for a cheap console to tide you over until the next generation of games consoles arrive next year, the Xbox One S is a clear winner.

4. PS4 Pro: Best exclusive games

Spider-Man, The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Bloodborne, Gran Turismo Sport. Sony’s PS4 Pro is all about the games. They’ve forgone multimedia options to focus on cramming as many exceptional exclusive games as they can onto one console. If all you’re looking for is the best games, then look no further.

There is also the PSVR to consider - Sony’s proprietary VR headset. The PS4 is the only games console to support VR and the PSVR even has a good number of exclusive VR titles like Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. Add that to VR classics like Superhot VR and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and you’ve got a fantastic VR machine at a reasonable entry price.

Sony’s claims of the PS4 Pro being a "4K console" do come with a lot of small print though.
