Will Indian sport continue to suffer in the process? Whatever the outcome of the meeting, the truth is that Indian sport has already started to pay a price. Every other country is already in the Los Angeles 2028 cycle. We in India are not. We are busy with infighting and slander, and that’s been the story of our Olympic sport for months now. Since the underwhelming Paris 2024 Olympics got over, none of our administrators have actually spoken about plans for LA. All you hear is what will happen within the IOA. While we have seen individuals like Pullela Gopichand and Vimal Kumar speak up on the omission of badminton from the 2026 Commonwealth Games, the IOA as a whole is silent. Just a couple of weeks back, we heard that the IOA had multiple meetings with Chris Jenkins, and were assured that certain sports would indeed be included in the Glasgow programme. Nothing came of that, and yet, we have not seen the IOA protest with one voice. By the time the mess within the IOA is resolved, we will lose a few more months, leaving us further behind in starting our preparations for LA ’28. Take badminton, for example. Mathias Boe, the noted doubles coach, left the scene soon after Paris. We haven’t yet found a coach for Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, our best bets going forward. If you want the best engineering the British, Americans and Germans are amongst the best. If you want manufacturing nothing better than China, India and Pakistan are the countries to go to. well, Engineering/manufacturing/labor quality isn't sport. Manufacturing first requires base resources this is why chinese ev car is a third the price of the statian because china prodcues most of the worlds rare earth materials, which exist in the political boundaries of china, and china has a nuclear arsenal so the usa just can't take it or leave a garrison as they have all around the oil resources in the commonly called middle east. resoucres have never been and never will be universally shared or owned. So manufacturing isn't even elemtentally an even thing, that is why wars are fought over base resources. China and India's war over tibet is vital cause tibet and more importantly he himalayas are full of base resources. St Lucia is never going to become a great manufacturer cause st lucia is a little island in the caribbean. who can't defend itself in war. .... Engineering is a a building block process. It is less about rank as much as where you are. You don't just build a lambourghine, you need a ford model t you need a benz motorwagen,two stroke engines, four cylinders, six scylinders, turbo charging, hydro pneumatic suspensions, engineering among countries is very simple, you start with the wheel and you keep going but you have to do it all internally so you can teach it internally. Mistakes, accidents is what you want the path of engineering is what the countries you mention have who also, won a few wars and took a few things and destroyed quite a few other peoples worlds so that their engineering stopped.... And labor quality is complicated. Who defines who is better at a job first and foremost. Very few jobs are acquired through merit. Sport oddly enough is one of the few where more jobs are earned through merit. .. so the association of sport with engineering or manufacturing or labor quality is misplaced for me..... all the manufacturing desire in the world doesn't matter if you don't have the resources. Engineering requires an internal communal sustenance that wars again or various negative inter communal actions in humanity deter... and most jobs are not given on merit.... The difference between sport and manufacturing is, it doesn't matter the players you have the goal is to lift the trophy if you do that, you did it, it doesn't matter that other teams had players more well known, all that matters is lifting the trophy at the end, if your team does better than others, and you don't have a global superstar, diffferences in resources it doesn't matter, but in manufacturing, differences in resources matter, that is why the manifest destiny of the usa occured , the 13 states knew more land would only be helpful in resources to manufacture. In engineering you need a growth of development over time, but not in sport. in sport a coach and players can combine for one year and win all and never see each other again. Apple computer's various tech doesn't happen absent the apple computer tech that happened before in house, which at its core was based on the electrical engineering groups of stanford and other colleges out west. Engineering requires growth on steps, sports doesn't. And last merit. Merit is all that sport is at its heart. CEO's , high level executives, the actions of human resources to most firms today isn't based on merit, it is based on connections, what person went to what school and overcomplicating simpler tasks as if they need schooling to learn instead of hands on learning. But sport is always about merit. It doesn't matter if a team is full of players considered genius on the ball, if they are beaten by a team considered all the lowest level of professionals well, it doesn't matter if the team with the lowest level of professionals is just that, they beat their opponents and that is all that matters.
