Digital vs Acoustic: Which Piano Should You Rent?
Piano rental has become an increasingly popular option for musicians, students, and enthusiasts alike. However, when faced with the choice between digital and acoustic pianos, it can be challenging to determine which one is the right fit for your needs. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the pros and cons of each type of piano to help you make an informed decision.
Digital Pianos: Advantages and Disadvantages
Digital pianos have revolutionized the music industry with their advanced technology and versatility. These instruments offer several advantages that make them appealing options for rental:
Advantages:
Portability: Digital pianos are generally lighter and more compact than their acoustic counterparts, making them easier to transport and fit into smaller spaces.
Versatility: Digital pianos often come equipped with a variety of features, including built-in sounds, recording capabilities, and headphone jacks for silent practice.
Lower Maintenance: Unlike acoustic pianos, digital pianos do not require tuning, which can save both time and money in the long run.
Disadvantages:
Sound Quality: While digital pianos strive to replicate the sound of acoustic instruments, some players may find the tone to be less authentic or lacking in depth.
Authenticity: The feel of playing a digital piano may not fully replicate the experience of playing an acoustic instrument, particularly for advanced pianists who are accustomed to the nuances of touch and response.
Acoustic Pianos: Pros and Cons
Acoustic pianos have a timeless appeal and produce a rich, resonant sound that is beloved by musicians worldwide. Here are some reasons why you might consider renting an acoustic piano:
Pros:
Sound Quality: Acoustic pianos produce a warm, natural sound that cannot be replicated by digital instruments, providing a truly immersive playing experience.
Touch Sensitivity: The action of an acoustic piano's keys responds to the player's touch with remarkable sensitivity, allowing for greater expression and dynamics.
Traditional Appeal: Acoustic pianos have a classic elegance and charm that can enhance any environment, from concert halls to living rooms.
Cons:
Size and Weight: Acoustic pianos are larger and heavier than digital pianos, which can pose challenges for those with limited space or mobility.
Maintenance: Acoustic pianos require regular tuning and maintenance to keep them in optimal condition, which can be costly and time-consuming.
Factors to Consider When Choosing
When deciding between digital and acoustic pianos for rental, several factors should be taken into account:
Sound Quality: Consider whether you prioritize the authentic sound of an acoustic piano or the versatility of digital sound options.
Touch and Feel: Evaluate the responsiveness and feel of the keys to ensure a comfortable playing experience.
Portability and Space: Determine whether portability or space constraints are significant factors in your decision-making process.
Budget: Take into account the initial cost, maintenance expenses, and long-term investment associated with each type of piano.
Skill Level and Purpose: Tailor your choice based on your proficiency level and intended use, whether for practice, performance, or recording.
Personal Preferences and Needs
Ultimately, the decision between digital and acoustic pianos comes down to personal preferences and individual needs. Here are some tips to help you find the perfect fit:
Visit showrooms and test out different models to get a feel for their sound and playability.
Seek advice from experienced musicians or piano teachers who can offer valuable insights and recommendations.
Consider renting both digital and acoustic pianos for a trial period to see which one suits you best in real-world scenarios.
Conclusion
In conclusion, choosing between digital and acoustic pianos for rental is a significant decision that requires careful consideration. By weighing the pros and cons of each option and taking into account your personal preferences and needs, you can find the perfect piano to inspire your musical journey. Whether you opt for the convenience of a digital instrument or the timeless allure of an acoustic piano, may your rental experience be harmonious and fulfilling. If you're looking to rent a piano in Singapore, explore your options with reputable rental services to find the ideal instrument for your needs.

Week 8 - Elements Descriptions
Canon DSLR Camera
Canon 750d is a digital single-lens reflex camera produced by Canon, a well-known Japanese camera company. The Camera was released back in February 2015. This camera was purchased by my parents for me back in 2018 from Harvey Norman for my school photography subject. It was the one of the best Budget to Mid-range DSLR camera at that time. It is important to me because one of my hobbies is photography and I like to capture the moments in time and share them to the public. The camera reminds me of my creative and adventurous self. The fact that I have brought the camera to various locations and places that I have visited and travelled to. It has increased my creativity when it comes to storytelling through images and using creative digital tools to enhance the thematic idea.
Bible
This Bible was from a church conference that I attended back in 2017 held by Life Church in Auckland. The black leather New International version bible was given to me by my parents after the church conference ended. This object was given by my parents. It is important to me because it helps me with my faith and deepen my relationship with God. It is significant to the Christianity faith that I believe in. I have taken the bible to mission trips out in the middle east and the word of God comforts and encourages me in my day to day life. It shows me how I should live my life and how good my God is. It not only strengthen my faith but it also teaches me the characteristics of God. The bible helps me to create design projects for the church that I am currently in through words spoken by God.
Cross
The origin of the cross symbol is from Christianity. As Christians we believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price of our sins but on the third day, he resurrected and now there is life and that we now can have a relationship with God the father. This element was founded in my faith as a Christian. My parents are Christians so I have been exposed to Christianity since I was little. The Cross is a significant symbolic imagery widely used in design to show the love and salvation that was freely given to us.
AirPods
Airpods is a wireless earbuds from apple. The 2nd generation pro series was made earlier this year. It improves the sound and noise cancellation quality. The AirPods was purchased earlier this year to replace my older 1st generation AirPod Pro's. This listening device is significant to me as I have a passion for music and music helps me to unlock ideas and creativity within the design space. It also helps me to focus and not get distracted.
Macbook
Apple's M1 MacBook was released back in November 2020. The first Apple Laptop with Apple Silicon Chip which increases performance in every aspect. This Computer was gifted by my parents as a graduation gift. The main purpose for the device was to pursue my design degree at the university. This device is significant as it helps me to create and using tools for design. It is the main device where designs are being produced. The computer helps to gather information and design ideas where I can learn new tools and techniques to master and improve my creative skills.
Piano
The Piano is an instrument that produces sound when the white or black keys are being pressed. The Piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori in the mid 1600's. (Yamaha.com) This Kawai branded instrument was bought by my parents back in 2016 when my brother was still learning the piano. I occasionally use it to play worship songs as a way to relax and have fun. This instrument is significant to me as my mother used to play piano at church and I want to pass on the gift that I have in music to Worship God. The piano can be used in various settings and playing different genres of music, in the same way I want my designs to adapt to various environments and be inclusive while being diverse.
Wall Art
The wall arts in my room are encouraging Bible Verses and Prayers that represents my identity as a Christian. The Wall Art was passed down by my family and it is still relevant to today. The significance of the Wall Arts not only decorates my room and make it look nice but it is also a reminder of my Walk with God as being intimate. Hanging the wall arts on my bedroom wall also shows that I welcome God to dwell in the place that I sleep in, which gives me comfort and peace on a day to day basis. Each Wall art are creatively crafted and drawn to show its character and tells its own story. I want my designs to be able to tell a story to my viewers and help them understand my intention behind each individual art piece.
Coffee
Coffee is my go to fuel when I needed to focus and get things done. It helps me to stay up late to finish work. Coffee is also known for its aesthetics packaging and design that helps to inspire me with my design work. Coffee helps me to reflect and calm myself down in stressful times. Coffee also helps spark creativity and ignites my thinking as well.
School Yearbooks
School Yearbooks is one of the memory objects that I still hold onto till today. The yearbooks shows the transition from one year to the other. Showing achievements and photos taken at that time period. School Yearbooks shows different themes every page with its own style and characteristics while telling a story through visualisation. I want my designs to create a history that people will remember and appreciate.
Flight Tickets
Aviation plays a significant part in my life. As an aviation enthusiast, I have been collecting flight tickets of planes that I have been on across the world. Airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines to name a few. I am fascinated by the different ticket designs by different airlines. How different airline branding such as colour influences the content that is in the airline ticket. It inspires me as a creative to have a consistent design system in various collaterals even in the small details such as a plane ticket.
Stickers
FindGod Clothing stickers are a merchandise by FindGod clothing, which is a christian apparel online shop with its aim to spread the gospel of Jesus throughout New Zealand by wearing the clothing pieces. I have been given stickers as part of my clothing purchase. I am always inspired by the slogans and bible verses that are on it. Each stickers uses its own unique colour palette and typography to spread the message across. The stickers shows the significance of spreading a message or awareness in a form factor that is easy to put around while showing its unique designs to enhance the communication within it.
FindGod Clothing
FindGod clothing was first launched back in September of 2022 by two Young Adults from the same church. They had a vision from God to be unashamed of the Gospel and they started the clothing brand as an expression of the calling. I have bought a few pieces from them through their online website for the past year and I really enjoyed wearing them out in the world. Spreading the message of love to those I walk past. These clothing are significant to me as it shows the identity I Have in Christ and that I should not be afraid to living out my faith and sharing them to the people around me. The designs inspires me to create a clothing brand in the near future, focusing on christianity apparel.
Pick Jesus Necklace
One of the clothing accessories that I wear often is the Pick Jesus Necklace. Pick Jesus necklace was bought from a friend at my Church as part of his fundraiser to Cambodia Mission Trip. I very like the design as it represents a guitar pick and the word "Pick Jesus" it creates a humorous approach in conjunction with the design. Behind it is a bible verse to encourage not only myself but the people around me. I very like the simple approach the necklace has and it represents my style as a designer as minimalist.
Old Receipts
I have collected a bunch of old receipt that I got from various stores that I have been to. I am fascinated by the typography each store has and the composition/layout of the content within the receipt. The receipts creates memories of things that I have bought in the past. Some cheap and some expensive purchases. It helps me to expand my knowledge on composition as well as looking at the past and the historical designs that were made.
Design Books
I have a few design books that were given by a Friend who we visited as a family. He knew that I was about to study design at the university so he gave me a few design books for me to look and take inspirations from. At that time I wasn't clear which design pathway I wanted to take so he gave me some books of Product Designs. Even though I didn't take product design as a major, I am still inspired by the designs that many designers designed. The material choice, the patterns, abstracts and form not only inspires me as a graphic designer but it also unlocks a new perspective by incoporating principals of Product Design into my Graphic Design projects.
Packaging and boxes
I am a huge nerd when it comes to technology. I have been collecting packaging and boxes of devices that I have bought. I am fascinated by the different packaging designs that each product and company offers for its consumers. From the simplistic clean approach of apple packaging to the busyness of the Oral B packaging. I like the different forms and sizes that packaging has to present their product in a form factor that is user friendly and accessible. These packaging designs help me to think outside the box and focus on the user's experience when it comes to UI and UX.
Birthday Cards
I have an archival box that I store items that holds dear to me. Inside includes hand written birthday cards that I have received from friends and families. These collections of Birthday Cards has emotional connections to it and it conveys the feelings in an artistic way and humours way.
Seashells
As an outdoor person, I like going to the beach and collecting seashells that I find were unique and beautiful. I am fascinated by the form and pattern of each individual shells. Most of the shells were collected at Mairangi Bay Beach few years ago. The seashells helps decorates and sets the theme for the overall feel and look of my room. It helps me as a creative to find natural elements or elements in general that helps to set the atmosphere and the overall mood of the style that I am going for.
Samsung Button Phone
The White Samsung button phone was released back in 2012, it features a tactile number pad as well as a small lcd non-touch display. The phone was given to me during my mission trip in Turkey. We weren't allow to use our own personal smartphones so we had to use the button phones that were given to us. I very enjoyed the tactile buttons of the number pad and the navigation buttons. It has a satisfying click and response to it. I like the small form factor of the phone and it includes all the necessary tools to get things done. This object helps me to step back and appreciate the nostalgic designs in the past. It also helps me as a designer to create something that is different and unique to modern day designs and providing a tactile, intuitive approach when it comes to designing for the user's experience.
Music sheets
Music sheets accompanies the instrument and the musician to play a music piece. Music sheets are significant to me as it helps to learn and play Worship songs at church or at home during my own time. It's a supportive item to help what I needed to achieve. It helps me to get the tempo and rhythm correctly as the song intended to be. It helps me as a creative to have a systematic approach and finding tools to help and support me with my overall design idea.

Keyboard Stands | Which Type is Best For You?
youtube
The popularity of digital pianos has ushered in an increase in innovations in the world of keyboard stands. While serving a simple purpose, these accessories can vary in design and be better suited to different situations.
Digital pianos in the slab and stage formats are built to be portable - something lightweight enough that musicians can carry them for short distances, transport them in cars or public transit, or store it in small spaces like a closet, dorm room, or a touring van.
Manufacturers achieve the smaller footprint mostly by compressing the electronics and speakers (much like a laptop vs a desktop computer) and ridding it of its pedals and furniture. What this means is if one of these becomes your instrument of choice, you'll very likely also need to purchase a sturdy keyboard stand to go with it.
In this article, we'll cover the most popular keyboard stands available on the market today, approximate price ranges you'll run into, and which stand is appropriate for different situations, all the way from basic home use, to those gearing up for a world tour.
It's important to know that there is no single best keyboard stand, but a variety of great choices depending on various considerations.
Types of Keyboard Stands “X” Style Keyboard Stand X Style Keyboard Stand
This simple X-Style stand gets its name from its design. There are two sets of 2 steel pipes each connected with a steel strut. There is a scissor-type folding action with a basic axel that connects the two sections; this design allows for height adjustments and for the stand to be collapsed completely flat, making it the lightest, easiest, lowest cost stand on the market meaning you can find these for sale in most musical instrument stores.
It also has the lowest weight capacity, is prone to some wobble, and isn’t known for its durability. Some digital piano manufacturers, such as Yamaha and Casio, offer a low-cost X stand option as well.
When to use them?
The X-Style keyboard stand is the best stand when portability or cost is the only consideration, and your piano weighs less than 40 lbs (ideally less than 30 lbs).
“Double X” Style Stand
Double X Keyboard Stand
The Double X-Style stand is an improvement on the first design, where the horizontal pipes that act as the feet and platform are braced with two sets of scissoring struts, instead of one set as with the first design. These also offer adjustable height via locking straps or some other type of locking mechanism.
When to use them?
Where portability and cost are top priorities, and the weight of your keyboard is somewhere between 40 - 70 lbs.
Z Stand Z Style Keyboard Stand
The Z-stand is one of the best blends of portability and stability on the market. Several companies make the type with a few differences in how they collapse. But once fully deployed, they’re all virtually the same and are ideal for heavier keyboards.
There are two steel ‘Z’s which sit parallel to each other, connected by two telescoping shafts, and the vertical part of the ‘Z’ also telescopes, giving the stand both adjustable width and height, with lots of leg room. These are generally speaking high-quality options.
There are also certain heavy-duty Second Tier Keyboard Stand versions that allow you to place two keyboards on them at once, allowing keyboardists to rapidly switch between two keyboards or even play both at once. The single-tier stand is of course more popular, but these exist for those who need them.
When to use them?
If you have the budget for a $100 - 150 stand, you're looking for a height-adjustable piano keyboard stand, and it will be receiving frequent use and/or moves, this is an ideal option (with the collapsing arms). They’re rugged, stable, and can handle the largest and most heavy keyboards out there with great sturdiness.  Hercules and Roland both make great options.
When not to use them?
For super small keyboards in the 61 or 76 note range that are 20 lbs or smaller, this would be overkill.
Folding Table Style Keyboard Stand Folding Table Style Keyboard Stand
We don’t actually know if the industry has a ‘name’ for this, but these types of stands look like those ubiquitous folding tables that you see at every wedding or event hall. The top of the table is rectangular, and two sets of legs swing down from hinges along the two short sides of the table. This tabletop option is also a sturdy stand.
When to Use Them?
The Table Style stand is essentially going to serve the same types of keyboardists, keyboards, and digital pianos as the Z stand, but in scenarios when portability isn’t as important.
For example, if your keyboard is going to spend most of its time occupying space on a Church stage or rehearsal room, the Table Style stand might be an enticing option.
“T” Stand
The final stand type is referred to as a T stand since that’s precisely what it looks like when folded up.  There are four articulating arms, all with a 90-degree elbow, which form the legs of the stand. They’re attached at either end of a central spine and are highly flexible.
When to Use Them: Like the Table Style Stand, the T stand is another alternative to the Z stand that will come down to personal preference.
Closing Thoughts
We hope that this article has provided some insight into what might be the best choice for you, whether that’s a single X stand, double X stand, Z stand, Table Style stand, or T Stand.
Ultimately, the focus should be on finding a stand that's stable and will last a few years, and not fall apart on a gig if you’re a performing musician.

How to choose best Piano Sale in Melbourne?
When looking for the best piano sale in Melbourne, there are several factors to consider to ensure you make a well-informed decision.
Here are some steps to help you choose the best piano sale Melbourne:
Research reputable piano dealers: Start by researching reputable piano dealers in Melbourne. Look for dealers with a solid reputation, positive customer reviews, and a wide selection of pianos. Visit their websites or contact them to gather information about their inventory, services, and pricing.
Determine your budget: Set a budget for your piano purchase. Pianos can vary significantly in price, so having a clear budget range will help you narrow down your options and focus on pianos that are within your price range. Remember to consider additional costs like delivery, tuning, and maintenance.
Define your requirements: Consider your specific requirements and preferences in terms of piano type, size, style, and brand. Determine whether you are looking for an acoustic piano (upright or grand) or a digital piano. Think about the space available in your home, your skill level, and the purpose for which you'll be using the piano (e.g., recreational playing, professional performances, teaching, etc.).
Visit piano showrooms: Once you have identified a few reputable piano dealers, visit their showrooms in person. Seeing and playing the pianos in person will give you a better sense of their sound, touch, and overall quality. Take your time to test different models and ask questions to the sales representatives.
Seek expert advice: If you are not familiar with pianos or need professional guidance, consider seeking advice from a piano technician, piano teacher, or experienced pianist. They can provide insights on different brands and models, as well as help you assess the condition and quality of used pianos, if applicable.
Compare prices and warranty: Compare the prices of the pianos you are interested in across different dealers. Take into account the quality, condition, and features of each piano to ensure you are getting the best value for your budget. Additionally, inquire about warranties or guarantees offered by the dealer to protect your investment.
Consider after-sales service and support: Look for a dealer that offers reliable after-sales service, including piano tuning, maintenance, and repairs. A reputable dealer will have qualified technicians who can provide ongoing support and ensure your piano remains in optimal condition.
Take your time and make an informed decision: Buying a piano is a significant investment, so take your time to make an informed decision. Avoid rushing into a purchase without thoroughly evaluating your options. If needed, visit multiple dealers, compare prices and models, and seek advice from experts before making your final decision.
By following these steps, you can increase your chances of finding the best piano sale in Melbourne and selecting a piano that meets your needs, preferences, and budget.

Get a piano lamp that you can use conveniently even if your music room is quite dark. Getting a piano lamp can make all the difference in the world. Lighting plays a crucial role in beautiful music. It ignites the senses, increases passion and, most importantly, gives your audience a sense of comfort and warmth. However, how can you be sure your chosen lamp will work best for you? Here are five things to consider:
1. The kind of piano you have. There are different types of piano available on the market. There are digital pianos, grand pianos, and simple pianos. Each type of piano can be equipped with a specific lamp. If you have a grand piano, you can use a polished brass LED Grand Piano Lamp or Gooseneck Piano Lamp. Also, there are floor piano lamps and upright piano lamps that will work for your piano.
2. Comfort in buying the lamp. The need for a piano lamp is certainly supported by the comfort you can get from using it. It's unlikely you'll buy a piano lamp just for the sake of aesthetics. Some people, however, are wise when making decisions about this aspect. With the comfort of buying a lamp comes the brightness of the light that you need. If you are buying lamps based on this aspect, your eyes are the judges. Buying a piano lamp that is too hard for your eyes may not be the best choice.
3. The materials. To begin with, piano lamps come in a variety of materials. They are typically made of brass, nickel, bronze, wood, and marble. Make sure you determine which of the materials will match your piano. In order to complement your grand piano, you should also choose a grand piano lamp made of brass. In this regard, you should buy a piano lamp with a similar or similar material to your piano.
4. Make the necessary adjustments. You need to consider the area where your piano can be seen when making adjustments to the piano lamp. You should also keep in mind the height of the piano and the person using it when making adjustments. It is possible for some individuals to require light higher than their heads, while for others, it only needs to pass through their eyes. If you have multiple piano players in your family, it may be best to think about making adjustments to the piano lamp.
When it comes to everything you purchase, practicality dictates that you should look for something cheap. With piano lamps, you need to choose a lamp that matches your budget. As you look for the best value for your money, you should also think about how durable the piano lamp will be.
In order to make a wise purchase, you need to know how to buy a piano lamp. In order to illuminate the joy of playing the piano, you need beautiful lighting systems. Consider the best names in the piano lamp industry. This will lead you to a wiser purchase.
