Remembering Jaco Pastorius (1951-1987).

Jaco Pastorius, John Francis Pastorius, (December 1, 1951, Pennsylvania, United States – September 21, 1987, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States), was the son of a renowned Jazz drummer, and from his childhood black sounds were at his disposal. around. At the age of 7, Jaco Pastorius moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale (Florida). In that town, he had the opportunity to enrich himself with a wide range of musical styles, including Caribbean sounds, Cuban percussion and Rhythm & Blues. Jaco was originally a drummer, but took up electric bass after breaking his wrist at the age of 13. One of his first bands as a bassist was “Las Olas Brass”, which he joined when he was 15 years old.

After that, other local Florida bands followed, some of them being "Soul Incorporated", "Woodchuck" and the "CC Riders Band". Jaco Pastorius left the latter band and immediately joined Peter Graves, the trombonist and leader of the "Bachelors III." that I had already heard about him. Jaco was with Graves for five years and shared his time performing and studying the perfection of the instrument at the University of Miami. Jaco Pastorius was discovered by the general public when he joined Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter's group "Weather Report" in a recording at the Guzmán Theater in Miami in 1975. That same year, Jaco Pastorius appeared as a guest on an album by guitarist Pat Metheny, and since then, Jaco became a charismatic figure on stage and critics spoke of him as an extraordinary musician. In 1976, Weather Report bassist Alphonso Johnson left the band and Zawinul called him in to replace him. It was April 1 when Jaco officially joined Weather Report, and later, he used his influence in the band to incorporate Peter Erskine into the band, with whom he recorded the album: "Heavy Weather."

In 1982, Jaco left Weather Report, leaving behind a special contribution to the band's repertoire and sound. Pastorius formed his own group: "Word of Mouth", with which he spent two years recording for Warner Bross, the album titled after the name of his group. If musical success was already consolidated forever, drugs also crossed into his life. Several police arrests, erratic and disorderly behavior, a defiant and almost violent attitude towards the rest of the musicians in his group, were a constant in his life in these early years of the eighties.

The summer of 1986 was a complete nightmare that culminated, thanks to the efforts of his brothers, with Jaco Pastorius, admitted to the Psychiatric Clinic of Bellevue Hospital, in New York. He remained there for six weeks, but when he left, it was only a short time before his physical and psychological condition worsened. Alcohol and drugs only caused doctors to diagnose him with a manic-depressive state of mind, and his actions were totally unexpected. The end came abruptly in the early hours of September 12, 1987. After being thrown out of a Santana concert for trying to get on stage, Jaco appeared at the Midnight Bottle Club, a seedy club in Wilton Manor, a dangerous suburb of Fort Lauderdale. When Jaco was denied entry, he tried to force his way in and Luc Hava, then the club's manager and an expert in Martial Arts, violently prevented him from doing so and fractured his skull. Jaco Pastorius arrived in a coma at the Broward General Medical Center, where after a few days, on September 21, 1987, his condition worsened and he died. He was only 35 years old, and with his disappearance left one of the great musicians of contemporary jazz and certainly an extraordinary, creative, innovative instrumentalist and with a mastery of the electric bass like until now, no one has been able to match him.

The program continues like this for three quarters of an hour, each song going in a different direction, each a masterpiece that would have been an achievement any musician would be proud of. What made Jaco so exceptional was that he was responsible for all of them, and this was his debut album. Beyond his phenomenal bass technique and surprising compositional maturity (he was 24 when this album was released), there was the impressive audacity of his arrangements: "Okonkole Y Trompa" is written for electric bass, horn and percussion, and "Speak Like a Child,” which Pastorius composed in collaboration with pianist Herbie Hancock, features a string arrangement by Pastorius that deserves serious attention in its own right. For a musician with this creative capacity, predict what could have been had his splendid path not been cut short by a tragic and sudden death. Michael Lee Bross holds an MFA in Poetry from Drew University where he was the recipient of the Jane Coil Cole Poetry Scholarship, and the 2015 Arts by the People Chapbook Award. His debut poetry chapbook, Meditations on an Empty Stomach was published by Finishing Line Press (October 2019), and his poems have appeared Lifeboat, Mobius Poetry Magazine, Let’s Talk Philadelphia, Northeastern Pennsylvania Poetry Review, and ZPublishings’ Best Emerging Poets Anthology 2019. -tore a calf muscle in 2019, after being basically in her self proclaimed best competition shape

1.Understand Existing Laws and Identify Gaps:

Begin by familiarizing yourself with existing child protection laws and policies in your jurisdiction (Mathews & Bross, 2008). Identifying gaps or areas requiring improvement will help you focus your advocacy efforts on specific issues.

2. Stay Informed and Research Best Practices:

Continually educate yourself on best practices and successful models of child protection legislation from other jurisdictions. This knowledge can help inform your advocacy strategy and strengthen your arguments for change (Gilbert et al., 2009).

Meh, I don’t know. We get a fair share of flashbacks from the "Previously on" segments, and Adam asked Roxane to stay just two episodes before that, so I think the average viewer would get the hint. Not to mention the Brosse Adam pining is the glue that barely holds the show together, so it’s no secret he’s been less than boyfriend of the year. But agreed, he deserved to have it all thrown back in his face! I just wish Roxane’s lines had been better. (Also, the show doesn’t seem to care all that much about the viewers’ full understanding of a given situation. Remember Gilles and Daphné’s passive-aggressive criticisms of Timothée in 301? They don’t make sense unless you remember earlier investigations 😂 Yet another inconsistency in terms of expectations…)

Maybe the cast liked that episode best because they got to play dress-up and break the knob off on the wackiness? Enrichment in the enclosure, and all that… (lol you’re right about the HPI/Palmashow parallel, I didn’t even think of that. Something something, reality becomes indistinguishable from satire. Ça pique 😅)

I get where your frustration about scheduling a date three months out comes from (I personally don’t mind, at least it sets clear expectations from the both of them--and we get to see them be excited about it on the same day, like a couple of weirdos who counted down the days 🥹), so I’ll go with your theory. And if Adam’s sure about his feelings, they have a better shot at making it work long-term, therefore sparing Morgane the pain of being dumped for like the 3rd time in a month! It’s a win-win.

Now, for the timeline blunder… Sigh. I admire your willpower to keep count at this stage, because I’ve given up 😂 They just really don’t care, or every single person involved in the writing is horrendously bad with numbers. Or we were right all along and Eliott actually is a time traveler messing around with our heads?

As for TIBER, I’ll pretend Morgane was so high she forgot she’s not right-handed. 🤐

hi 👀 306 was last week but I still wanted to address a couple of things… mainly roxane’s last scene, ouch, she deserved a better exit than parroting the writers’ memo on [gros canard]’s failings 😩 c’est faible. feels like they should’ve axed the scene (it was clear enough they’d break up, anyway) and simply confirmed she left with the voicemail about her sister dropping off the keys. (btw--did we know she had a sister before you mentioned that detail in fic, or was it another of your predictions??)

big fan of the attic scene though, and daphné & [gros canard]’s synchronized "gilles 🙄😵" lol. plot-wise, however, I’d like to know who would put multiple acid tablets in a bottle they’re not drinking, because 1) big waste of money for a student population, 2) it’s probably not the most efficient way to take lsd (les résidus au fond de la bouteille !!!), 3) que fait le bde ? shouldn’t they at least pretend to care about safety when there’s a party in the dorms?

and I’ll admit it was kinda fun to see [gros canard] using his ~"just broke up" privileges to dunk on morgane’s relationship history. the guy woke up and chose violence 😭😂😭 ça va qu’elle le prend bien…

I tend to disagree with you re Roxane's break-up scene, because let's remember that we are obsessed. We can list all of Adam's misdemeanors in the blink of an eye. The casual viewer can't. So this last fact in itself justifies Roxane's monologue reminding us what a terrible boyfriend he's been. And also, even though it all wasn't fresh news for me, I must say I appreciated hearing them all together and I appreciated even more Adam having all of this said to his face. And Roxane's conclusion "Et tu penses que ça fait de toi un type bien" poooooooow elle tire à balles réelles et ça fait du bien !!!! So yea basically I loved that scene because he deserved it. Period. 😂

And yes, Roxane mentioned her sister in 206!!! ("et pour l'anniversaire de ma soeur, tu as pu te libérer ?" while Adam is cursing Morgane for not capping the ketchup bottle) Now did I mention her sister in PQENCEL, well I'm afraid that's another occurrence of Local HPI anon knows my own fic better than I do lol!

(oh wait no, I mentioned her in the 303 fic, didn't I?)

The attic scene was funny-ish, granted, but it's entirely thanks to Gilles' inability to correctly answer multiple-choice questions! Ok full disclaimer, I'm kinda meh about this episode, I don't understand why so many people, cast members included, claim that it's the season's best, but also I must say that for me, the episode is completely doomed because of some infuriating stuff that happens in the finale 😭

Agreed that there's some very generous dealers on this campus, last time I checked open bars didn't include full bottles of LSD, but hey what do I know, my student years are far behind (also BDEs have never been worried about safety, come on 😅)(but this makes me think of the Palmashow's HPI spinoff "BDE" lol I bet it would have made this ep more interesting)

(speaking of the Palmashow parody, Morgane finding the victim's daughter behind the screen that *happened to be here* reminded me so much of fake Morgane finding the killer behind the curtain lol)

"the guy woke up and chose violence 😭😂😭 ça va qu’elle le prend bien…" -> true, perhaps it was a bit harsh to tell her that, but honestly the return of the flirty bickering felt so refreshing!!!! 😍 And I'd dare to think that maybe that's also the reason she takes it well while she has all the reasons to be hurt by him reminding her that she always gets dumped, because he's FINALLY risking a joke at her after all those weeks of silent treatment and closed face and angry looks, my boy is making amends and holding a timid Olive branch and she couldn't be more relieved....

... which makes the three months window proposal absolutely frustrating!!! I *hated* this part (I mean, before I watched the finale and understood what hating an episode's ending really meant lol *crying laughter*), because even though Adam needs some time to heal (understandable), and is a total control freak who shows up early on dates and probably needs to know his schedule six months in advance, this is like peak non-romance. Where's the passion? The spontaneity? I'd have accepted this scene if we'd seen him showing up at Morgane's door barely a week later and telling her that he, in fact, cannot wait, but this... UGH!

My theory is that he wanted to wait long enough to be sure about his feelings for Morgane (which would explain why he's so enthusiastic to date her in the next ep, unless he's that dtf haha), make sure it wasn't a phase or a fantasy due to being stuck in a relationship, and that's probably the only theory I can accept because it's vaguely romantic at least, and also I need to believe that his feelings are real, which is something that tends to be hinted at in 307-308 imo, so there's that consistency at least...

Speaking of consistency!!! I know I'm just hurting myself at this point but I wanted to make a quick check on the timeline... Surprisingly the show actually manages to speak the truth, Timothée did spend 4 months with the team (he arrived in the summer, two months later around September/October - remember that the months were mixed up in 303-304 - he starts dating Morgane for two months, and here we are!). So WHY would they instantly ruin that effort with the most random line this show's ever delivered:

"Et bah moi, je me suis séparée de Ludo il y a neuf mois..."

GIRRRRRRRRL, you spent two months on a couch after your breakup. Then, admitting that 205 to 208 happened in like a week which is in itself a ridiculous assumption, you left the PJ for six months. And here we are, four months later, as dutifully reminded by Timothée. And I didn't even extrapolate here, I just took point blank the elements that the show gave me.

2 + 6 + 4 = TWELVE FUCKING MONTHS BARE MINIMUM. Was it that hard to follow up? Jesus Christ.

And since I'm on the inconsistency chapter, the way TIBER is written on Morgane and Adam's wrists suggests that it's Morgane who was holding the pen because of the letters' orientation, but in this case she wrote on her left wrist. While she's left-handed. Too bad, huh?

In the Mario Au how do Felix, Augustin, Pepa, and Julietta get their memories back?

Im in a Mario fever since in day 6 there's honna be a teaser of the new Mario Bross movie!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

So. Its kind of slow, it ties in the Alma's Fury shiz I did. Technically, they have their memories, its just sort of repressed? Like they have to 'unlock' their memories. Bruno actually plays a huge role in helping, because Alma and Pedro have to watch the kids, Pepa is in no condition to try and help, and Julieta just has no memory of the husbands, so its likely that she'll attack them thinking they're going to attack first, since that's what she's used to.

They have to go to different castles like in the of Maroon games amd collect stars, stars that'll unlock more and more memories. The final three stars are actually the hardest. One is literally in the jewel that's on Pedro's crown. One in somewhere in Alma's castle, and it takes forever to find. And the third one? They have to defeat a final boss of sorts in order to get the last star; and the final boss is Alma herself.

Now she's not even aware. While everyone does have most of their memories, the most important ones still have yet to be recovered, and they're attached to the last star. Felix is the only one capable of brawling with Alma and Mirabel can help him, seeing that she's probably the best bet at getting close to Alma.
