My yarn stash looks (a little) organised! So it’s a recurrent thing that when customers order a made to order item from me, although I repeat it many times that it can be made any colours and size, my customers seem surprised when j ask them what colours they would like, they are obv happy to realise that they can have it to suit them however it raises the question am I losing out on a lot of sales as lots of prospective buyers are put off believing they are buying a replica of the listing photo?? Currently working on a top down bobble poncho in 100% Australian alpaca yarns for my fiancé. He demanded the softest poncho so here we are 😅 Grey- heirloom alpaca 8ply Brown/ royal blue neon green & neon pink- Bendigo Woolen Mills 8ply alpaca in "neo" (it's brown in indoor light, but in sunlight you can see all the other colours. Slow fashion october

This October is finally winding down. Now while October is my least favorite month probably of the entire year, I try to do my best to remain inspired and consistent in perfecting my craft. This Slowtober I was so far able to do that despite the curve balls life has recently thrown my way. I really truly and deeply love almost all things fashion. but my ultimate love is slow fashion because of the persistence it requires, and the patience it cultivates. I have developed an ever evolving marriage between myself and the materials, and my tools. weaving together some of the *in my opinion* most unique bespoke pieces the world over. I have been approached by a lot of crocheters professional an hobbyist alike requesting I sell my patterns or put on clinics to teach my method of hat an clothes making with such a small thread. I have declined every times urging my audience to respect my particular brand of art an to appreciate it for what it is, and not what they wish it was. I’ll admit it to be a little selfish, but in rebuttal l am admittedly a perfectionist and a purist. With that being the case I see how unique and set apart my style is from the average crochet sold online an in boutiques. I personally feel anyone with a unique set of skills, or gifts should rewarded for their talent and bravery. If I were to give away what I have been gifted to the masses as so many do, my art like theirs would bastardized and it would ultimately lose its meaning and its significance. When I find artist who do unique things with materials I reward them by purchasing and supporting their brand.  When you create fine hand made items you are leaving your mark on the world. and like a signature yours ought to be unique only unto yourself. a signature is like a finger print. and your art is your metaphorical finger print. Slowtober always teaches me something new each year about fashion and my personal craft. Every year I’m getting better creating more complex and finer quality of products.  I look forward to presenting you with a look at my most recent creation soon as I have put the finishing touches on it.  my submission for slow fashion October 2017 has taken me over 80 hours + to complete. made from fine Egyptian cotton threads meticulously hand woven. this item will probably last a lifetime being that it is so well put together and made of a high quality material.
