you've never watched studio ghibli before? don't worry, vernon can fix you.
pairing: vernon x reader; established relationship wc: 700 genre: fluff note: this is for @palajae! i am your @kflixnet secret writer! (and apologies that this is coming so late!) i am not familiar with enhypen, so i decided to make a short one-shot about vernon & studio ghibli. i hope you enjoy!
“Have you ever…”
“Have I ever what?” You don’t even look at him and you’re rolling your eyes. You pull the blanket higher on your lap as you press the down button multiple times. “C’mon, spit it out.”
That warrants a laugh from him. “I was going to say, have you ever watched any Studio Ghibli movies?”
Pursing your lips together, you shake your head. “No, I don’t think so,” you mutter, wracking your brain to try to think of any. “Spirited Away is one, right?”
“Yeah, have you watched it?” The shining light from the television set brings hope to his eyes. You sit in complete darkness, no one else in the apartment except the two of you. The popcorn in the bowl is almost done, with more kernels sitting at the bottom than the snack, and you haven’t even chosen a movie to watch.
Vernon’s feet rest on the coffee table, and you’re so thankful that 1) he’s wearing socks, and 2) all of the other food is packaged and unopened, like your favorite chocopies and the burgers he will inevitably inhale during the movie. You give him props for not eating them yet, considering he’s been waiting all day to eat them during your date night.
You shake your head again. “Nope. You know, why don’t we watch a scary movie? It’ll be fun! It’s going to be Halloween in a few days and it’ll get us in the holiday spirit!”
“You know they say that about Christmas, not Halloween?” Vernon sighs. “Doesn’t matter, I know how this will go.”
“And how will it go?” You turn your body facing toward him with an amused tilt of your head.
“You’ll put on a scary movie and say it’ll be okay, and then you’ll hold onto my strong arms and put your face behind my strong shoulders when it’s the scary parts. And then I have to watch the scary parts all by myself!”
Your whole body vibrates as you chuckle, taking one of his hands into both of yours. “I think you said you were strong, but I wasn’t sure. Won’t a strong man enjoy a horror movie?”
“A strong man can admit that he doesn’t like horror movies, and I don’t.” He plants a kiss on your cheek. “Back to Studio Ghibli, how come you haven’t watched any before?”
“I don’t know.” Your shoulders almost touch your earlobes when you shrug. “Just not part of my childhood. Why, when did you first watch a Studio Ghibli movie?”
Vernon taps the inside of your hand as he thinks, his eyes darting from one side to the other. “7th grade maybe? Ponyo was the first one I watched. You wouldn’t believe my pre-teen self; I was just running up to anyone to tell them about the animation. And I was begging my dad to cook me ramen and ham, it was crazy.”
The grin on your face grows wider and wider as you hear him talk. “And your favorite one?”
“Princess Mononoke, hands down. It’s realistic, but not because it’s fantasy. Does that make sense?” Vernon asks, rubbing the back of your knuckles with his thumb. “Realistic fantasy.”
“It does,” you nod, dipping your hand into the popcorn bowl and tossing a few into your mouth. A frown forms on your face when you can easily feel the plastic bottom of the bowl. “So what you’re trying to tell me is that you want to watch a Studio Ghibli film.”
His laughter brings him to putting his forehead on your shoulder. “Yes,” he says with the remainder of his chuckles tailing the end of the word. “We can watch Spirited Away since you haven’t watched it yet and that’s their most popular movie.”
“Okay,” you pull yourself away from Vernon, getting up on your feet. “You might want to warm up your burgers again so they’re ready to be eaten. I have to make some more popcorn anyway.”
He gets up beside you, gathering the paper bag of burgers in his right and slinging his left arm around your shoulders. “You are so smart. I love you and how you take care of me.”
“And I love you.”

Hey mootie! I have some asks from your noisy ask post.
7: Have tattoos?
9: Got any piercings?
15: Favorite movie
38: My childhood career choice
I have two tattoos, a spider and a pinky promise lineart both on my right arm.
Currently just have angel fangs (and they're cool as hell), planning to get a labret when I'm not broke and too busy to schedule it.
My favorite movie is probably either The Goonies, Labyrinth, or Ponyo. All top tier comfort movies.
My very earliest career choice (besides, like, world famous celebrity princess cult leader, but kids be like that) was stripper for some reason?? I think I saw one movie with a scene at a strip club and one of the big things at recess in early elementary was trying to pole-dance on the broken tetherball thing. Then, when I had to be more realistic with my career options I hopped between preschool teacher and embalmer from probably 3rd grade until graduation.

bring on the sunshine
Read Chapter 1 | Read Chapter 2 | Read full story on ao3
A short christmas drabble is up!!!!
Read the rest on AO3!! Please leave kudos and comments if you wanna!
Summary: With the help of their five-year-old “matchmaker” Taehyung, Yoongi and Jimin stumble into each other’s lives. Cue the awkward, messy pining and dating adventures with a noisy kid in their way.
The Min household doesn’t do much for Christmas.
The only decoration in sight is a cut-out of a Christmas tree that Taehyung had coloured in pink back when he was...two? It’s pasted haphazardly on the closed front door of their apartment, signs of wear and tear evident in the way the sides of the tree are curling inwards.
Besides that, there are no Christmas lights, no Christmas tree, no Christmas stockings. Taehyung’s present is there waiting for him at the feet of his bed. The heater is turned up high and the curtains are drawn. When the father-and-son wake up, nothing is out of the ordinary other than the fact that Taehyung gets marshmallows in his hot chocolate and gets to choose what movie he wants to watch that day.
It’s not that Yoongi has some animosity towards Christmas or anything. He’s not avoiding it due to some past childhood trauma. It’s just simply that his family never had the tradition of celebrating this festivity, and thus it’s never occurred to him that Christmas should be a special day, especially not when he’s not religious.
Taehyung’s happy to receive his present (a build-your-own-telescope set) and it’s just what he wanted. He’s happy to spend the entire day sprawled on his father’s lap as they watch Ponyo for the tenth thousand time. He’s happy watching the way his strawberry marshmallows dissolve into his cup of hot chocolate and how the steam smells instantly of pink goodness.
Yoongi’s happy to have a day of absolutely nothing to do. He’s happy that it’s nice and toasty in his apartment and that they’re not facing the harsh winter out there. He’s happy that Taehyung’s satisfied with his gift.
In the Min household, they’re content with the simple things. Christmas is just another day.
But not for Jimin.
Jimin loves Christmas.
Christmas is absolutely not just another day . It is the day of the year, probably the most important holiday in his opinion.
Imagine his utter shock when he enters the apartment breezily, red Santa hat perched daintily on his head, patterned Christmas socks pulled up to his thighs and presents tucked under his armpits, only to find Yoongi and Taehyung just....there.
“Merry Christmas!” dies on Jimin’s lips as he glances around the apartment. Where are the lights? The tree? That movie they’re watching isn’t even a Christmas classic!
“Mr Park!” Taehyung yells heartily as he gives Jimin his usual run-and-tackle embrace.
“Hello, Tae,” Jimin smiles a little blankly, bopping Taehyung’s nose half-heartedly after dropping the presents and scooping him into his arms.
Yoongi saunters over to Jimin, pressing a lazy kiss to his boyfriend’s cheek. “Morning, sunshine.” He taps the end of Jimin’s hat. The bell jingles melodiously. “This is cute. You’re cute.”
“Did you forget?” Jimin whispers, pulling a scandalised expression.
“Forget what?” Yoongi replies, shooting a quizzical glance back as he scratches the back of his head.
“Christmas!” Jimin widens his eyes exasperatedly, voice a little more raised this time.
“Oh.” Yoongi shrugs. “No, I didn’t. I know today’s Christmas but..so what?”
“So what ?” Jimin’s mouth falls open. He’s looking at Yoongi like he doesn’t recognise him anymore. Yoongi’s a little frightened.
“Daddy got me a present!” Taehyung offers sweetly. “And we pasted my Christmas tree on the door last night!”
“That’s nice,” Jimin immediately relaxes his face as he kisses the top of Taehyung’s head. “And I did see the tree you coloured. It’s beautiful.”
Taehyung giggles.
“We don’t really celebrate Christmas…” Yoongi reasons, biting his lip unsurely.
“What?” Jimin’s eyes snap up to Yoongi’s.
Yoongi shrugs once more. “I don’t know...it was just never a big deal to us, I guess?”
“B-but…” Jimin looks a little lost. He puts Taehyung down gently and shuffles to the window, drawing open the curtains. Sunlight floods into the apartment. “How can you be missing out on this?”
Taehyung practically flings himself onto the window, nose and cheeks pressed against the cold surface as his eyes turn round in delight. “Wow!” he breathes. “It’s snow! So much snow!"
Jimin ruffles Taehyung’s hair endearingly. “It’s the magic of Christmas, Tae-ah.”
“It is?” Taehyung grins with awe at Jimin. “I didn’t know Christmas was magical.”
Jimin frowns slightly. “No. This won’t do.” He folds his arms. Clicks his tongue. Nods. “Okay boys, dress up. We’re going out.”
“In this weather?” Yoongi sputters. “It’s so c-c-cold!” Just thinking about it makes Yoongi shiver.
“Poor kid over here has never experienced the magic of Christmas, I can’t just leave it be.”
“But—” Yoongi tries pouting.
“Not working on me,” Jimin shakes his head resolutely. “Also, grumpy people don’t get presents.”
He picks up a larger package from the floor. “Taehyungieeeee,” he sing-songs. “You’ve been a good kid right?”
“Uh-huh!” Taehyung nods frantically, practically salivating at the sight of the massive box. “I’ve been very very good. I promise! ”
“I know you have,” Jimin smiles. “Merry Christmas! Here you go!”
“Thank you!” Taehyung squeals, tearing apart the wrapping paper in a flash.
Upon seeing the gift, Taehyung exclaims, “Oh! My! Gosh!” His hands fly up to his cheeks. “How did you know I wanted a dragon pet?”
“Christmas magic, remember?” Jimin winks, beaming at the way Taehyung lit up.
Taehyung hugs the huge stuffed toy close to his heart. “I love it I love it I love it I love it! I’m going to name it Magic and I’m going to love it and never let it go.”
“I’m glad you like it,” Jimin smiles genuinely.
After a beat, Taehyung quips, “Does Daddy get a present?” Of course, he wouldn’t forget his daddy.
“I don’t know, Taehyung. Has daddy been a good boy?” Jimin asks in a teasing tone. “He doesn’t seem very excited to go out with Mr Park right now, though.”
“It’s cold,” Yoongi mutters sadly.
Just then, arms wrap around Yoongi tightly. “Don’t worry, I’ll be here to keep you warm,” Jimin tucks his chin on Yoongi’s shoulder and kisses the nape of his neck softly. He pulls away, keeping Yoongi at arm’s length. “It’ll be fun, I promise!”
Maybe it’s the way Jimin’s eyes are twinkling. Maybe it’s the way that subtle kiss made Yoongi blush. Maybe it’s Christmas magic. Whatever it is, it’s working. Yoongi’s resolve crumbles.
“Fine,” he rolls his eyes good-naturedly, a smile rising to his lips.
“Yay!” Jimin and Taehyung cheer simultaneously.
He could never say no to Jimin anyway.
Barely an hour later, Yoongi regrets everything.
His heart is beating wildly and wet snow is falling into his jacket and he’s tired.
“Time out!” Yoongi waves his arms in surrender as he clutches onto his chest, catching his breath.
Jimin and Taehyung emerge from their snow fort, hooting triumphantly as they dance around celebratorily.
“The enemy has been defeated! Christmas forces have prevailed! It is truly the magic of Christmas!” Jimin announces into the air.
“Enemy feeted ! Christmas forces prewailed ! Truly the magic of Christmas!” Taehyung echoes clumsily after Jimin, chuckling at Yoongi’s red face and red nose.
“Yes, sure, gang up against the old man. That’s the spirit of Christmas!” Yoongi says bitingly, eyes rolled skyward with sarcasm. “I knew Christmas was a bad idea.”
“Oh come on, you Grinch,” Jimin nudges Yoongi with an adorable grin gracing his features. An expression Yoongi cannot resist. “It’s just fun and games.”
“I’m going to die of frostbite,” Yoongi pants dramatically.
“Don’t be silly,” Jimin giggles as he lovingly brushes off the snow from Yoongi’s garments. “Look at Taehyung. Aren’t you glad he’s having so much fun?”
Yoongi glances over Jimin’s shoulder, only to find Taehyung spreading his hands and arms across the canvas of white snow, animatedly attempting to make his very first snow angel. He looks so happy, even with his cheeks all rosy from the cold.
“Maybe I should have done this earlier,” Yoongi muses, eyes still fixated on his beautiful son.
“It’s not too late,” Jimin corrects. Something warm presses against Yoongi’s cheeks. “Better?”
“Why are your hands so warm?” Yoongi can’t help but sigh, leaning unconsciously towards the touch.
“Because I’m your sunshine,” Jimin jokes.
“You truly are,” Yoongi breathes, eyes fluttering closed as he soaks in this moment.
They stay like that for a little while more, bodies subtly pressed against each other as Yoongi pulls Jimin close, Jimin’s mittened hands reaching up to cup Yoongi’s face. It’s perfect.
“My lips are cold.”
“Are they now?” Jimin cocks an eyebrow surreptitiously, a knowing glint in his eyes.
“You said you would keep me warm, right?” Yoongi opens up his eyes and puffs out his cheeks.
“Taehyung’s here, we can’t,” Jimin hits Yoongi’s chest playfully.
Yoongi licks his lips. “He’s not looking, hurry.”
“Fine,” Jimin relents, cheeks tinted with the prettiest pink. “Since you’ve been good today.”
They meet halfway, smiling through the kiss. It tastes of Jimin’s cocoa-butter lip gloss and marshmallows. Even with Yoongi’s cracked lips and the squishy feeling of snow in his socks and many layers of clothes between them, it feels wonderful.
Flashes of white catch Yoongi’s eyes and he breaks apart before Jimin’s satisfied, resulting in the smaller boy chasing after his lips.
“Wait, look.” Yoongi prompts, using two fingers to nudge Jimin’s chin upwards. “It’s snowing.”
Jimin’s eyes brighten up as he gasps. “It really is! Taehyung! It’s snowing!”
“Wow!” Taehyung exclaims, raising his arms in the air as he sits up. He hasn’t seen anything like that before, eyes gleaming in curiosity as he observes the way the snow descends down, glittering under the sunlight like fairy dust. Like magic.
“Wow!” he exclaims again, a little dazed as he stands up to spin around and around and around, his carefree laughter bouncing off everywhere.
“It tasth likth sthrawberthy!” Taehyung blabbers with his tongue stuck out.
“Does it now?” Jimin laughs.
“It must be Christmas magic.” Yoongi thinks out loud, his arm reaching out to pull Jimin close by the waist as he beams at his lover.
Jimin gazes back up, the look on his face brighter than all the Christmas lights on the streets combined. “It must be a Christmas miracle.”

that 11 question thing
i was tagged by @antarctic-echoes & @mametupa, so here are my answers. Warning: i suck at these things. Sorry. tl;dr: i’ve been told several times i was too much of a realist, too down-to-earth and sadly unable to dream & leave what things actually are aside, and it shows.
1. what’s your favorite hobby? Er, i don’t really know... anything where i can forget myself?
2. What’s the movie you hate more than anything? there are several, and probably quite a few i’ve erased from my memory. i don't get why people like Love, Actually so much for instance - so depressing. And others, but i either don’t remember them or don’t want to get flamed, so.
3. which would you rather be: Ninja or British Spy? And why? i teach English for a living, but i practised a martial art for a few years. No idea, you pick! If the British Spy thing means lots of sex, no thanks. If it means cool fun toys, why not. If the ninja thing means being able to do fancy moves, why not. If it’s about the training that allows me to do that, probably not.
4. What’s your favorite book of all time? i don’t know. No, really. There are many books i enjoyed, but i’ve learned to be wary of picking them up again for a reread...
5. If you could go anywhere, whether it be a real or fictional location, where would you go? no idea. Since i’m a very positive person who expects disappointment everywhere, well. Somehow, people think i’m pessimistic; i tend to see this as being realistic. It’s not that i don’t travel or like travelling, it’s just... i’m always keeping in mind it’s just a distraction that barely covers the emptiness of existence ;-) many places sound really great, but then when you’re there’s always that “gah i hate mountain paths” or “crap nearest toilets are far away” or “and now there’s the horrible trip back to look forward to” or “my feet are wet” or “those moving stairs are such a pain” or “the Pegasus galaxy is cool and stuff but i don’t have reliable access to AO3″... you get the idea.
6. Which would you rather fight? An angry horse-sized duck or a hundred angry duck-sized horses? depends on what tools / weapons etc i have at my disposal, i’d say? Do i have something that can incapacitate one large thing? or something to outrun small-legged animals for long enough i’d be safe?
7. If you could have any dinosaur as a pet, which one would you have? i don’t want pets of any sorts. Not that i don’t like animals (i really do!), but i can’t properly care for them; i don’t have the time / space / patience etc. And, while dinosaurs are cool, they’d need a lot, and probably wouldn't be happy in an environment they’re not adapted to.
8. What is your favorite animated movie? er... i really don’t watch a lot of films, animated or otherwise. There are some i’ve enjoyed, and they’re definitely not Disney films. No shade on those who enjoy them, bear in mind i haven’t watched a Disney film since i was a kid, apart from the Lion King on a plane or something and the political undertones and how the way the lady lion’s role was downplayed made me angry (and why do so many of these end on “and they got married, the end”? not the more recent ones, from what i understand?) and also why do these people sing all the time? i... don’t like random singing??? i live in fear of the Lucifer musical ep, and i’m one of like 2 or 3 people who don’t like Lucifer singing stuff. I try to pretend he’s Freddie Mercury when writing him. Regarding anime, i’m probably supposed to say Miyazaki or something because everyone loves his stuff, and... it’s nice, sure. Really. Honestly, young characters have never been my thing - Ponyo was sure cute, i guess? i liked the Kenshin OAV because it mixed great music, anime, trope use etc? Or should i mention The Grave of the Fireflies because it’s all deep and stuff? It’s really good, but i’d never EVER rewatch it. Or perhaps Ghost in the Shell? great Kenji Kawai music there. Haven’t watched any animated film in ages.
9. What is your favorite dessert? i generally don’t really like sweet things - i can appreciate them, but one spoonful or two is enough; it’s not really my thing.
10. what is your movie score? the... number of films i’ve watched? i used to be big on artsy cinema in my younger days, now i can’t stand being still for several hours, surrounded by people potentially munching on crunchy stuff. I’d probably not get a good score (HAHAHA) at most quizzes. to answer the question, the music i’m living to? i do enjoy some film scores - but i like silence more.
11. If you could go to dinner with any fictional character, who would you choose and why? no idea. i don’t have anything interesting to say to anyone. i imagine i can pretend for a while, but that’s what i already do most of the time i’m not home, so... i mean, there are many characters i find interesting / fascinating, but i don’t fit in their world or they don’t fit in mine. How would that work? Am i a lowly ensign on the (original) Enterprise? What am i supposed to talk about with Tony Stark and his buddies? i guess i could just stare moodily at a beer bottle while Methos looks all cool and liquid on the chair next to me, he’s probably one of those people who won’t mind silence too much? It would be rude to pester him about what he’s lived through. Maybe ask where he gets his sweaters, they look comfy. Not Lucifer, because i’m not the Detective (or in her orbit) / a pretty young thing / a good singer. I can drink? But i don’t know what to do with myself in a club, so. and now from @mametupa: 1. Which is your favorite holiday and why? As a rule, i dislike holidays. It’s uncomfortable, i don’t particularly want to see most of my family, and it all feels forced. Of course i do know that for some people it’s a joyous time, but be it Xmas / Easter / birthdays whatever, it’s... not my thing. Sorry.
2. What is your favorite food to cook or eat? i’m easy either way. A few years ago i used to cook with a friend. We became estranged, and now i don’t really cook anymore - i mean, i still cook everything myself everything i eat (including bread or yoghurts) but since then i’ve lost the taste and it’s all very utilitarian; fuel so i don’t faint at the gym or at work. i don’t really care, but i’m okay with or at least will try almost anything. Really.
3. If you had to live in the body of someone else, who would it be? Er, no one. Honestly, and that’s not a fun answer, but i’d rather not exist at all. Bodies are hard work (plus luck) to maintain reasonably healthy and, worse, in what is considered “good shape.” Besides, some that really look good are actually not good at all inside, not all diseases / pains are visible.
4. Favorite season? spring makes me sneeze, summer is too hot, winter is that horrible holiday period, so i guess autumn? i do like red colours on leaves (but i live in a city, so don’t see them much like on those nice autumn moodboards with pretty forests)?
5. If someone wrote a book about you, what would the title be? that won’t happen :-)
6. Favorite childhood book? i was a voracious reader until lit studies made me quit reading for a few years, so i read a lot as a child. I kept ideas, feelings, one little thing from many books, but i don’t think there’s ONE book that made me go THIS ONE. sorry.
7. Favorite smell? i don’t know. Wet forest? Fresh bread? Fireplace? What is one supposed to answer? Definitely not perfumes or flowers, i’d sneeze and my eyes would become liquid or something.
8. What different languages do you speak or understand? French, English. I used to be good at Spanish, and i can (especially after a few days of resetting the brain bits) cope. My grammar and vocab are all shot to hell but i can definitely get by; i understand people enough to enjoy guided tours & stuff and get food and a hotel and get directions to park the car. For some reason i now have an English accent whenever i try to speak Spanish (i once said “nos quedamos ten minutos” sounding like a posh XIX lady and the friend i was travelling with was laughing like a loon. She had to repeat what i said to me). i’d like to learn Arabic, because it’s different and the grammar and sounds and writing and word etc are both alien to what i’m used to and yet a source of the languages i’ve learned before, so. i did Latin and Ancient Greek loooong ago, and well it was useful to read street signs in Greece and St Petersburg (i’d brushed up on the Russian alphabet just in case).
9. Favorite era? they’re all interesting, past and present and future. The way some categories of people are / were treated tends to make me run away, though - women, sexual or racial or or or minorities, slavery, you name it. Nowhere, nowhen is 100% a haven.
10. What 5 things would you want to have with you if you were marooned on an uninhabited tropical island? i don’t know if the Internet counts, i guess i could tell people i’m stranded with it, so maybe not? If it doesn’t, no idea. i guess i should say useful stuff like, i don’t know. A fridge with electricity? A survival handbook? A fully-stocked house (with furniture) with electricity? or a means to kill myself as painlessly as possible?
11. One thing that you would never throw away? i don’t know. something useful? Or trousers, perhaps? i hate being naked. But a knife is always useful? Probably? i tend to not throw away stuff BUT i don’t *get* a lot of new stuff either (unless it’s polish, but even there i’ve slowed down because it has to be really special to catch my eye now). i don’t have 11 questions to ask people, but if anyone wants to pick among the many that have been asked before, feel free.
