Bell finds out about Graves being Adlers son Drabble

Bell was going to kill Russel Adler. He was determined to do it after he had became stable enough to do it. But first, he had to find him.

After some time of searching, he found where Adler was staying. He had his gun, his knife, and was hiding behind a bush. Watching silently as Adler pulled up in his car. Bell silently pulled his gun out, aiming it at the car door. A few moments after that, Russell got out of the car, locked it, and then… then he was in Bell's sights! After all that Adler had done to him, he was now in Bell’s crosshairs… He could finally take the shot and get rid of his tormenter once and for all and-...!

... A small shape runs out of the house, laughing and giggling... why was it laughing? Did it not know that he was about to fulfill his destiny and take care of Russell once and for all? And... why was it running directly to Adler?? It could get hurt, surely his tormenter wouldn't let this blonde haired shape get in his way- surely Russell was going to hurt it for getting in his way or push it aside or-!

This can't be... Adler... THE Russell Adler, just picked up the small, fragile, smiling kid, and- he's holding him?!? Why is he holding the kid?? And why is he smiling!? Wait... they're talking about something. Listening in, Bell overhears the conversation, "Did you burn the house down while I was gone, sport?" Adler asked, and the kid giggled, kicking its feet and grabbing a fistful of Adler's hair and tugging faintly, eliciting a faint chuckle from the scarred man. "You silly!" The little boy laughs with a shake of his head, his blonde hair getting in his eyes. Blonde hair… that looked only a little lighter than Adlers’ hair. Blonde hair that was in the exact same styling as Russell’s. Who is this kid? Why does he not care that he’s being held by a killer??

The boy makes another comment, some kind of joke apparently, because Russell laughs again, before setting the boy down and ruffling his hair, which made the kid giggle with glee. “C’mon son, let’s get inside” Bell tensed at the name ‘son’? Surely it must be some sort of nickname or something like that, there was no way that Adler had a kid… Backstabbing, lawbreaking Adler who had put a bullet in his side with no remorse… it wasn’t possible that he had a kid. It requires love and care to properly raise a kid, and to raise them happy at that too… Adler couldn’t have raised a kid this entire time. He was too busy with stopping Perseus, there’s no possible way. Bell reassured himself, exhaling slightly

Just as Bell had calmed himself down, the kid smiled, pulling on Russell’s arm as they walked towards the door. “Walk faster dada!!” The boy exclaimed. No. It wasn’t possible. It couldn’t be possible. Bell lowered his gun, his head spinning too much to be able to point the gun straight any longer. How is it possible? Adler was with him and the others the entire time! How could Adler be this kids dad, when he was on a mission this entire time? When he wasn’t with anybody?? Yet, Adler did mention having an ex-wife… it was entirely possible that the kid had stayed with the wife while he was working…

Bell shook his head and retreated from his spot, heading back towards his car. He had to think about this new found information about his enemy, about the care Bell saw in his eyes as he looked at the kid. He would be back, that’s for sure. He wouldn’t let this be the last time their paths crossed… No… this would merely be the beginning of a new understanding, a new plan, a new way for revenge…

I’ve had a few messages about that one infamous fic. Look I wanna finish it, for closure if anything, I really do. But Adler/Bell is gonna be a little trickier to write for me now. Not even just because of the new campaign, although it doesn’t exactly help. I’ve felt this way for a while which is why I haven’t finished the damn thing. Being more unsure about it all leads to a lot of lack of motivation and some pretty nasty writers block.

It’s not that I’ve suddenly done a complete 360 and think it’s deadly wrong to write that ship and I’m gonna start clutching my pearls at my fic and everyone’s else’s for that matter. That’s not it.

Although I was younger when I started that fic and I’ve been educated quite a lot since then, changed my views a lot, have different feelings towards the world these days, I do see some little problematic things and tropes that I probably would never write today (and it’s funny, because I dragged it out over numerous years, I can see how I changed the way I wrote about this particular ship and topic, just little things here and there you know) I think I’ve approached the topic fairly tactfully and realistically in the grand scheme, as much as I could anyway given what it is, ultimately I don’t regret writing it at all.

It’s just idk, it’s hard. I think I’ve just changed a lot and I guess my writing abilities have changed too. I’ll have a think about it! 💕 I can’t guarantee I’ll finish it, can’t guarantee I won’t 🙂‍↕️

thinking about… adler and bell,,, adlerbell. thinking about bell looking in the mirror and being unable to decipher if they see themselves or adler. wondering if the mask staying on or off makes a difference—if their lack of identity is just a void waiting to be filled by their maker, the one who gutted them and pushed their intestines back in again and sowed them up with the same hand that ruined. how people say owners look like their dogs and dogs look like their owners—how long did it take until bell could trace their own features and think of his?

During their mission in Berlin, Bell and Adler run into some obstacles. Set during the Brick In The Wall mission.

Imagine:…

We always get the stories about young Phillip and Russell Adler. But what about Teen/Young Adult Phillip, who's in the Marines/Marine Raiders, and gets home after a long deployment, who either:

a) (Canon Ending) meets with Adler, who talks with him about the missions Phil went on, teaches him some moves, trains him/ prepares him for certain types of missions, etcetera etcetera. Phillip goes on to get higher in the marine raiders and meets General Shepherd who convinces him to start Shadow Company. This leads into canon times as we know except Graves is every bit the money loving war criminal that the haters want you to believe that he is, due to Shepherds influence on him at a young age in the military. Russell Adler slowly loses his son to the type of people that he used to hunt down for betraying others just for the money/recognition

Or

B) (Good Canon Ending) comes home and finds that his father isn't there, and there are people there who are tracking him and Russell down, and who have invaded the house. Phillip clears the house of the invaders, and gathers a few things before heading to a safe house, and gets in contact with his dad, and together (maybe with the help of some friends) take down the people/operation hunting Adler and Phil. Phillip realizes how much better working in a group of your own choosing and choosing your own missions is, and decides to change his last name, and form Shadow Company. This leads into canon times as we know, with Graves meeting Shepherd later on and around the time before Modern Warfare 2 begins. Graves is either hassled or blackmailed to betray the 141 and has a strong bond with his Shadows. Russell Adler stays in contact with Phillip, and they still meet sometimes.

Or

C) (Bad Canon Ending) comes home and finds that his father isn't there and he gets captured. Turns out that it's Bell who captures him, and Bell brainwashes Phillip the same way Adler did to him, to hunt his own father down. Confronted by someone who's younger and spryer than he is, and who also knows all of his moves, Adler gets captured and taken to Bell, who kills Adler, and rents the highly trained and brainwashed Phillip out for missions against the West. Forced to watch his father die, and to betray the country he had grown to love, Phillip slowly tears himself apart from the inside out, until finally during a mission, he manages to break free of the brainwashing, shoot Bell, and manages to track down all the people he was ever forced to work for, until he has taken down all of the threats(that he knows of) to his country and its allies. After that, he ends up lost, and without a purpose, and changes his name to Phillip Graves due to the graves he had to fill during his brainwashing and awakening. He goes back to what little he can remember… the military. There he meets General Shepherd who 'helps' build Graves back up and guides him to start Shadow Company. Shepherd says he's helping him, but when really, he's using him, and Graves doesn't recognize this because being manipulated is all he remembers. As the The Shadows get to know Phillip, they try to help, but he's already fallen back into his brainwashed patterns and is unable to listen. Shepherd plants a seed in Graves' mind that the 141 need to be taken out because they're going to betray him first, so he must make the first move. Russell Adler and Bell both die, and Phillip has lost himself along the way, leaning into every praise from the General that he gets, only to see the man for what he is, when Shepherd betrays him in the courthouse.
