i really love the Idea of an AU swapping dipper and mabel with the stans but i never feel like other people do it right. for one thing, it should all be happening in the 1960s and mcgucket should be the gideon.

stan definitely strikes me as an elderly transitioner who immediately is like "oh this is who i should have been years ago!" and starts to make up for lost time by being the hottest gmilf around. welcome to cougartown, baby!!! line those beautiful young men up!!!

meanwhile ford (despite his interdimensional adventures) is pretty stuck in the past and has a lot of rigid ideas about gender and sexuality that he would need to sort through (probably with help from mabel)... like i think he would be all "i can't be a transsexual because [insert bad excuse here]"

but i think it's also UNDENIABLE that he was aware of (and a fan of!!!) wendy carlos and something about seeing w. carlos in that one presentation (the one before she publically came out where she's got the fake sideburns) probably made him IMPOSSIBLY SAD for some inexplicable reason 😏

i think i can safely say that there are six different codes being used (ford's symbols from journal 3, a "runic" symbol code, a caesar shift, simple numeric replacement, a more complicated numeric code, and an "atlantean" symbol code)
