In thor2, Frigga (Vanir by birth) became dust after death, which means not only Asgardians become dust. This is further proved in thor4 where Jane (Midgardian) becomes dust after death. Even assuming the dust is only applicable to Gods and/or those loved by Thor -and Thor very much LOVES Loki- IW!Loki is still alive bc he didn't turn to dust on death (it's neither shown nor spoken of later, correct me if I'm wrong)
take it as you will, but I consider the gold dust upon death a retcon done in Ragnarok. Frigga turning to it is prolonged enough that I considered it a result of the funeral proceedings specifically (ie. sending the soul off). Thor calls Jane a g*d when she's dying I think (don't quote me on this) and a condition of Valhalla is supposed to be that along with dying in battle.
I generally don't consider Loki dead via Thanos anyway because 1. he's survived not breathing before 2. presumed organ damage no biggie too and maybe even if we consider the show 3. King Loki got away with the exact same thing, meaning that getting away DOES follow the 'sacred' timeline if such a thing even exists, and confirms that at that point Loki is strong enough and able to do it.
#On the other hand it IS incredibly angsty to think about Thor not knowing if the TDW death was real or fake#because Loki didn't turn to gold dust immediately#but being a frost giant he didn't know if Loki would#and had to accept that he wouldn't#then again I like Thor knowing it's Loki on the throne at the end of TDW so maybe pepper in Thor's depression in EG#being because now he KNOWS the IW death wasn't faked and Loki still didn't go gold#they'll never reunite#Thor 4#the Loki show#i haven't slept enough to go fact check at this very moment#but canon is a bit retcon-ed and inconsistent so it's not like it is to be held at especially high esteem
