Hii there, I just want to share some toughts with someone who is equally delighted with Han as I am. Here I was rewatching Tokyo Drift since I have such a soft spot for this movie, specially Han in it, and I think besides his likeable cool and collected persona, there is a dark side of him that is often unnoticed by many, I mean, the man turned Tokyo into his own personal playground and laughted at the face of the Yakuza and playing it and Takashi like a violin, it requeries a HUGE amount of balls and boldness to do this (we can also credit that to the "all or nothing" posture/mentality as a reflex to Gisele's "death"), and he can also be very egoisticaly manipulative and keep secrets (lies), you can see by the way Takashi was so angry with him, bc he believed Han was his friend and he could trust him, he is a "chamaleon", and the fact that he decieved and lied about his death for all those years to Dom and the crew, yeah he had a legitimate reason to do it (protect his adoptive daughter) but still show he can do it even to the people that loves him, ALSO, lets not forget in the 6th movie when Giseles "dies", he gets so angry that he mauls the face of a goon untill he is bloody red and literally throws his entire body in the turbine of a plane, which shows that when if comes to the extreme that man can go WILD (even physically), and damn, it shows how rich his character can be and I wish he was more fully explored before, can you imagine an spin off from his Tokyo days or early years?! Ok, end of my rant 😅
i took your rant to another level. please enjoy my deep dive.
you are completely right. han does have a super dark side and i often fall victim of ignoring it. his character is structured in a way that both the people in the movies and the audience fall for his calm and collected persona.
if we go all the way back to the beginning han's character comes from the movie 'better luck tomorrow' where he's essentially a little thug from california who had a smoking problem and stole computer parts to sell. in the end of the movie he and his friends took part in killing a kid and end up burying him in a backyard.
that aside he was a teenager when this happens, shit happens when you are a teenager and usually you learn from it and move on. except next time we see han is in tokyo drift (with about 4 f&f movies that haven't been released). i think it's safe to say he did not move on from it but evolved.
now technically speaking this evolving happened because to adapt this character to the f&f franchise he had to be more likable and chill and not seem like an amateur in order for him to blend in with the toretto crew. in other words he had to have useful qualities and a 'heart of gold'. i'm pretty sure had he been the same as 'blt' he wouldn't have been as well received in the gang.
that gap of him evolving is hidden from us because of the time jump from 'blt' and the dominican republic (which is where he makes his first appearance chronologically). i'm guessing he kept being a thug, jumped from place to place, grew and learned his chameleon ways, (it would be so interesting to see if it's something he developed himself or if someone taught him) and committed a crime that made him run from the country.
it's like you said he's a chameleon and he does it too well. he gets along well with the toretto crew but he also had a whole lot of fun in tokyo with takashi and the yakusa. for fucks sake he owned a club.
'you make choices and you don't look back' is his motto. that's something that someone who's fucked up many times in the past would say.
his chameleon persona is the reason he and gisele got along so well. they are the same. she uses her assets to win and get her way much like he does. in fast five and that other movie with shaw's brother we see gisele using her flirtiness to get info and han doesn't mind one bit because he understand. (not to mention it benefits him in f5 because of the $ in the other one to get his freedom back). which leads to my other point.
he is egotistical! he lives in a world where he needs to constantly watch out for himself and he takes it a step further by putting himself in dangerous situations. purposely! with most of the toretto missions he has something to gain. yes, those are his friends but most importantly they are partners in crime.
gisele and han. they loved each other. i'm not taking that away from them. it's completely reasonable for han to mourn her and beat the guy to death. but also he's so upset because he lost the other person that understood him in that deeper level. we don't know much about their relationship but if he was going to show his true colors to anyone, his whole self, it would've been gisele.
i agree with you that the reason he adapted that 'all or nothing' mentality was due to gisele's death. people react different to a loved ones death. it can explain this regression he did to more dangerous endeavors in tokyo drift. even though gisele didn't even exist in the creators mind. im taking creative liberty here to give han more depth lol.
while he did lie about his death lets not forget he let dom know he was alive with the postcard. i want to believe the whole elle deal kinda gave him a wake up call for all he did in tokyo. he remembered he once wanted to settle down with gisele and maybe taking care of elle made that dream a version of his reality. just because gisele is gone doesn't mean he can't slow down and take it easy.
bottom line, han is not the saint he appears to be. he's dangerous and impulsive and manipulative and egotistical. but it doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad guy. he also shows a lot of good qualities throughout the movies but i'm not getting into them or i'll be here forever.
han lue (seoul-oh) is one of the best well developed and interesting characters in F&F whether is was on purpose or not. i quite like there's mystery behind him.
they always say to watch out for the quiet ones and i agree.

Modern gods
I tried to portray them in an accurate but original way, speaking also about the things that are often overlooked
Zeus: lightning cracking the sky, going to the theater with your soulmate, rebelling for a right cause, laughing out loud, the most human of them all, family dinners, a walk in the mountains, the calm before a storm, sudden change of emotions
Hera: white dresses, bubble baths, staring at the milky way, peacock feathers hanged in your room, knowing you’re way more than what you show, diamonds in your hair, crying alone in the bathroom, still being the one people look up to
Poseidon: crabs that go back in the sea, drinking a cocktail on the beach, dance lessons, always understanding people’s emotions, sketching on books, listening to the waves to hear their secrets, riding a horse near the ocean, temperamental
Hades: holding hands, feeling the comfort of the darkness, a glimpse of past memories, a black dog watching and protecting you, knowing that everything is temporary and loving every second of it, embers, no one actually knows what’s in their mind, psychology books
Artemis: the moon on a winter sky, seeing a deer in the woods, wind in your hair, helping a child or a wounded person, feeling the stars on your skin, nocturnal walks, white moss, eyes that have seen more than you can imagine, making herbal tea
Apollo: sun warming your skin, laughing with your friends, having weird dreams, music that comforts your soul, trying on new clothes that make you feel confident, a hot summer’s day, glowing skin, even the shadows are their friends
Athena: libraries filled with old books, cuddling a cat, eyes grey like storms, going to the restaurant alone, staring at the horizon, being at war not with people but with your own thoughts, good at anything, gold earrings, dad’s favourite
Hephaestus: fireworks, advocating for disabled people, drawing with charcoal, smiling hearing your friend’s story, a vintage matchbox , sadly overlooked, eating chestnuts, autumn leaves, disappearing for days to work on a project
Demeter: caring so much about others, sitting under a tree, playing with your pet, poppies behind your ears, the countryside in summer, putting honey in milk, meditation in the morning, flower garlands, touching the earth, giving the best hugs
Aphrodite: walks by the sea, rose scented love letters, a free spirit, art museums, falling in love with life, small fish in a pond, canopy beds, wiping off tears with kisses, she knows what you think but she’s not gonna tell anyone, a presence that smells like incense and vanilla
Ares: leather gloves, late nights at the pub, rock n roll concerts, hickeys, knowing when something is wrong, cutting your hair at home, staring at your girlfriend because she’s just too beautiful, impulsive actions, a strong feminist, people don’t like them at first
Hestia: healing abilities, untouched beauty, making cookies for your friends, glowing eyes, making your room a sanctuary, putting lavender and amethyst under your pillow, reading for fun, lighting a candle, a welcoming smile, wearing your heart on the sleeve
Hermes: reading poetry in a bar, being able to manage any situation, social chamaleon, winning a race you trained hard for, funny jokes told in a ear, your parents’ favourite, flirting with your friends, lemonade, beach volley, caring about social issues
Dyonisus: drama lessons, leopard fur coat, feeling your body pervaded by energy, loyal to your loved ones, knowing what’s on the other side, embracing chaos, speaking by metaphors, red wine on your lips, laying drunk on a sofa

while we're on the topic wanna give some ratings as well to X1?
Story: 6.5/10. In the intro it has some very interesting worldbuilding in the form of what kind of machine X is and how he influenced technology all around the world... but the plot itself is a simple affair of "villain wants to do villain stuff, get strong enough to stop him!".
Graphics: 8/10. Very pleasing to the eye! The Mavericks have nice animations and the backgrounds are lovingly detailed. I especially liked Launch Octopus' stage (that teal sea <3), Armored Armadillo's (the tunnel with a light at the end!) and Storm Eagle (great sense of altitude)
Music: 10/10. I think I made my thoughts clear on the sheer amount of bangers :P
Level design: 9/10. The gimmicks are so cool! I once again have to praise Armored Armadillo, but Storm Eagle is iconic for a reason - what an entrance to the boss arena! Sting Chameleon's armor ride? Yes please! Exploring these levels is also really fun, with only a couple annoying powerups :P I'm a little less convinced by the enemy placement - in the normal stages they're relatively sparse, but take advantage of how easily they respawn if you so much move an inch, while the Sigma stages just unload tons of crap towards you :P
Controls: 9/10. Nothing much to say here. It took me a while to get used to the dash, and even more to the wall dash jump, but it's fun and I wouldn't change a thing about how X moves:)
Bosses: 8/10. They're good! Some very easy to cheese, though (rip spark mandrill). I like how you can make them easier by using different weapons, like cutting off Launch Octopus' tentacles with the Boomerang Cutter so that he won't create whirlwinds. Less convinced by the Sigma bosses, especially that stupid spider.
Subweapons: 8.5/10. I haven't experimented with all Charged weapons, that's for next time (once you try Charged Chamaleon Sting you don't go back), but I liked using the regular version of them in the levels. Especially Electric Spark for how it travels along the walls, and Boomerang Cutter for its retreiving property.
Difficulty: 7/10. For being a Megaman game, it's pretty easy and short. You can tell this was a new generation of games :P some bosses gave me trouble (Sigma...), but the stages themselves were a cruise.
Replayability value: 9/10. The simple fun of each level, the backtracking aspect of collecting powerups, and the levels affecting each other push you to try again to find the most balanced order and speed through these zones. Me gusta :D
I'm a big boy: I'M A MEGAMAN NOW./10

For A Greater Good Fun Facts and Self Assesment (spoilers)
Long Post
What worked and what didn’t:
I think the overall structure worked pretty well. The most difficult part was, with the plot and subplot already created, scattering all those ideas throughout the text in such a way that at least made some sense. I regret not writing more about Mer Yankelevich, I feel like the crumbs I left on the way were not enough; in my attempt to make it subtle it lacked information about her. The key piece was of course her sister, and I should have introduced her sooner.
MC’s evolution. I feel like Kate’s learnt a lot with this experience (I’m not only referring to the Deathly Hallows or Grindelwald) When it started, she was very discreet and kept a low profile, not knowing what to do really, not taking more risks than necessary. And then she ended poisoned and splinching just to protect a document she thought was important. I hope her evolution is noticeable for the reader.
Worldbuilding. Grabbing HP concepts that were forgotten and full of potential, plus a dash of original ideas from me and blending them with muggle features was my absolute favourite part of the process.
On that note, I dont own these concepts: Durmstrang, Igor Karkarov, Nerida Vulchanova, umbrella flowers, fanged geraniums, billywigs, Appare Vestigium, glow-worms, trick wand, chamaleon ghouls,
If you’ve read the fic and thought: “everything happened so fast” or got a general odd feeling about the timeline it's because I made a series of monumental mistakes: setting a chapter limit, telling you about it and then tried to stick to it. At first the idea sounded nice: this is my first “big” story with complicated components. I should (and I did) do an outline of what I want to happen in each chapter and stick to it methodically so I don't forget what's happening or lose track of the plot. Well...it kind of backfired. So I wrote the first 3 chapters and at that point I thought “okay everything is going as planned, I’m going to put it out there”, bam, instantly cursed. After that it got ridiculously difficult to make the story that I wanted. Why? I needed chapter space that I convinced myself I couldn’t add. Dumb.
The major consequence of this was the lack of character backgrounds. It started out good, but as I kept writing and publishing I realised that I missed some great opportunities to make amazing ocs. That’s Corentin’s fault in a way: he wasn't going to be a major character, really, just a piece to help Kate a bit. But we all fell in love with him so what was I supposed to do? Also, Sheyi Mawut owns my heart and he got just a bit of spotlight. A shame.
I wish I had written more about them, but I think I wasn’t ready just yet to make it even more complicated.I just wanted to prove I could concoct a mystery plot and now that I know I can manage a fair amount of information I think I can take it a step further and deepen new ocs a little bit more.
I’m thinking about the datura series and I know why I got blocked and tired of writing it; it wasnt going anywhere because I wasnt prepared, and I didn’t do the months of outlines and planning that I did with this one. I’ll come back to the datura story one day, subjecting it to a sever rewrite. The ideas are there, I just need to be organised.
Although the chapter limit was problematic it was also a good exercise of managing space and deciding which things were unnecessary for the story. I dont think there’s any filler chapters, perhaps the last ones, but there is important information there too so... However this sentence from the blog wordsandstuff reassured me (and I think I did a good job at that?)
If you set out to write 10 parts and you write a fantastic story in 8, you haven’t failed and it’s not too rushed. Concise writing is an underrated talent. Focus on how effectively you engage the reader, not for how long.
I spent more than year writing this! When I started, I had a lot of ideas, I wrote the last two chapters then the first 3 and I really thought it was going to be that way with the rest of the story... okay... lesson learnt. #humbled
Other thoughts:
I received a couple of comments on ao3 that said that they were pleasantly surprised. Maybe I should change the tags because they are misleading? Clearly this wasnt what people were looking for lol.
One particular comment stood out to me and quoting it said: “You did not choose the easy way with a fiction with so few characters from the fandom.” And I’ve been thinking about this since I read it. It didn’t occur to me that there were few mystery fics (maybe I should write more things like that? Maybe throwing some power couple detective work 👀 ) In any case, I’m glad I contributed with something different to the fandom, and the fact that the Charlie bits are very scarce but people who read it still liked it is really flattering.
I wanted to make sure that all the characters had strengths and flaws, I didnt want to severus-snape them so maybe I overdid it with that bit of introspection kate does at the end...
Also, I did the kiss and fade thing twice to mention sex. I know some people dont like that but since it wasnt the point of the story and I havent done research on how to write sex scenes I didnt include them. I have that on my “to learn” list.
Conclusions:
Writing the whole thing was incredible. It's my first ‘big’ project and its not a great work (there are some things I wish I did better, thats what you get when you are an agatha christie wannabe) and not writing more character backgrounds will haunt me to this day, but I think it's at least good for a first series and I’m proud of it. I loved spending hours doing research and trying to piece together this puzzle. And of course I’m not an expert and I dont want to sound pretentious (like this is my first story) but if you are planning to write this type of genre I can be another source of tips and tricks for you.
If I read the story after a while and I dont cringe, I would call that a success.
FUN? FACTS!
Bakunawa really belongs to Filippines mythology
Snapdragons have different meanings, one of them being: “grace under pressure or inner strength in trying circumstances”
The entrance to Grindelwald’s room was going to be in the duelling classroom, strangely shaped as a triangle. I had this system where one of the round candle lamps descended and lined up with a line on the floor (serving as separation for duels) it created the Deathly Hallows symbol. I couldn’t make that work because it wouldn't make any sense for Nerida Vulchanova to shape a room like that. Here are some sketches:
Lucius Malfoy was going to appear as the Ministry employee that goes to Durmstrang, but after revising the events of the OoP I realised it was impossible.
Kent Jorgensen was going to be around Kate’s age and the charms teacher and he would have a small crush on her. After seeing some pics of Pen Medina, I rewrote the character completely.
The series was going to be 6 chapters long (I’m glad I decided not to) one for each month. The chapter names were ridiculous: January of Beginnings, February of reputation, March of Students, April of Discoveries, May I? and June of Endings. #tragic
The Dolohov family was going to be a part of the plot but I had to erase that part because it was unlocking another layer of complexity that I just couldnt handle.
I dont remember exactly the chapter but I got really confused with the names Rhode and Hodges and there’s one chapter where I accidentally mixed them (I corrected it I think), but for a while I could stop calling Rhode, Hodges, and vice versa lmao
Here are some sketches that helped me describe and imagine things
Thank you for accompany me in this journey, especially if you endured the process with me lmao. You’ve been here for over A YEAR! <3 Mindblowing
Also I’d love to know your opinions about the way you read the story, I mean, I know some people read it as I published, and some other readers found the story already finished, what are the differences? Should I stop the updating system and drop a story all at once? I know it is difficult to keep up with a complex story if there’s a lot of weekly or monthly gaps between the chapters, so I wanted to know.
Sending you a virtual hug 💜💜

So my SO its a ENTP and still amazed of how he can blend with every type if he needs to, even if he thinks someone's stupid or not a good person he manage to get along with them, HE IS LIKE A CHAMALEON. H O W??!!??!!?!? I admire him for that but at the same time I worry cause sometimes he gets so burnout of trying to pleased people...
Yup yup yup yup so this sounds about right. I’ve had multiple friends mention that I do this as well. And I also get seriously burnt out.
It is a genuine skill. It’s cool to be able to read others and charm them. But it is also such a bURDEN because it’s mostly the usage of Ne and Fe, and not enough time taken for Ti. (So it’s the healthiest route of action for us) We don’t take enough time to think about whether or not we like the people around us... and if we do, we don’t even consider separating ourselves a bit or just *not* interacting. Sometimes we’ll even enjoy the sport of charming. And so we end up being sickly sweet to people who drive us up the wall, which leads to success in the beginning... but annoyance by the end.
It’s nuts actually, because I know for me, I used to very actively befriend people who I didn’t like. I’d go to an event, talk to eVERYONE for at least 15 minutes, do the “hAHAHA” thing, and then I’d come home and sleep for 10 hours. As I’ve grown a bit, I’ve chilled a tad on this, but not really. I tend to actively make sure everyone likes me and is having a good time. It really is fun to look at a group and approach with the mindset of making them all like you. But in terms of long-term success, it also allows us to be comfortably devoid of any drama if we play our cards right... sometimes I can even be a double agent because everyone trusts me. All in all, I think it has something to do with not getting too close to people while also being somewhat involved in the action. The neutral quirky friend.
But you’re totally right, we really do get drained from this!

For me the core idea itself is interesting, so I keep watching ML to see where it goes. But despite already having 4 seasons we barely see changes and that's frustrating to say the least.
The problems are a long list though. So far we have:
Female protag "empowering icon for younger girls" Marinette: The writers love to put everything on her shoulders and then blame her the moment she reacts. In the end she has to apologise even if it's not her fault at all. Despite being only 14 years old, she carries the whole world and the entire show by herself. She deserves much better than this BS she's getting.
Adrien "perfect" Agreste: Sad rich blonde kid character trope, but he gets to be a superhero for fun and he's literally a trophy boyfriend at this point. Writers love to worship him as perfection and make girls obsess over him (Marinette, Chloe, Kagami, Lila, etc) which is very unhealthy. Adrien does mistakes too but he doesn't face any consequences and he doesn't have to do much as a superhero! Just get out, destroy something and call it a day. Like a sidekick if you ask me.
Chloe "unlucky" Bourgeois: Sad blonde rich girl trope, but she receives the exact opposite treatment of Adrien from the writers. While they put him on a pedestal, they call her irredeemable, compare her to TRUMP and push her aside by creating a last minute, out of nowhere sister. Yep, they hate her THAT much. They might even try to remove her completely or reduce her to a background character. Like Marinette, she deserves much better than what she's getting. The worse part is that they actually showed us she had potential to be redeemed but dropped the idea halfway and made her evil again because "once a villain always a villain" BS.
Alya "chamaleon" Cesaire: Writers can't seem to agree on one skin tone and body type for this girl. They blame it on animation and lighting but in some episodes it seems like she's entirely different than normal, and her superhero form having a much slimmer body is sending the wrong message to kids.
Sabine "Xia Ping" Dupain Cheng: Marinette's mother and supposedly she is Chinese but we only learn these details either when it's crucial to the plot or watch a special episode to find out. If I have to watch an extra movie to know about a character's cultural background, and if it's not shown on the main show, IT'S BAD WRITING. EXTREMELY BAD WRITING AND THEY DON'T DO JUSTICE TO OTHER CULTURES AT ALL!
More on culture: Marinette being half-Chinese is a golden opportunity to teach the audience about Chinese culture and traditions. But instead of letting Marinette celebrate her cultural roots (such as Lunar New Year) or bonding with her mom via cultural values, the writers choose to make Marinette seem like her sole purpose is to obsess over Adrien. I mean she knows NOTHING about her mom's real name and she can't even speak Chinese. Adrien, a French boy knows more Chinese than her. It's awful and embarassing. At this point it feels like Marinette being Chinese was a choice by writers to make her more exotic and appealing to fans. They fail miserably at cultural representation.
Out of order episodes: The airing scheule is a huge mess. We can expect random episodes to be aired in different countries and different times. For example we can watch an episode in French, one in Portugese and another in Ukranian in the same week and they can be completely different than each other and this is really confusing.
Plotline? We don't do that here: To me this is the most frustrating part because despite 4 seasons and more, WE STILL DON'T HAVE A PROPER PLOTLINE. WE HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING WHAT HAPPENS FIRST OR NEXT. The only way to tell the episodes apart is by different transformations.
Status Quo BS: No matter what happens we are back to square one by the end of every single episode. Characters have the same design, they don't grow up or change their style. It's getting too repetitive here - I WANT TO SEE DIFFERENT OUTFITS FOR CHARACTERS.
Character development? What's that?: Due to nonexistent plotline and the forced status quo characters are unable to change. They don't experience different things and learn from them. They don't develop. They remain the same the entire time. Most of them don't even have a purpose or motive, the show is just Ladybug vs HM now.
“why are you watching Miraculous Ladybug if you don’t even like it”
because it gives me something to do when I’m bored and someone has to call out this bullshit. Can’t let the racist and misogynistic creeps in this fandom lie to people and tell them it’s feminist and anti-racist and cute and romantic when it’s literally a steaming pile of racist garbage that portrays sexual harassment and assault as romantic.

I had a grip phase where I would depend on social cues, yes, and I can't say I'm totally immune from approval-seeking tendecies and such, it's just not as important anymore, and I'm way more in tune with myself, my own needs, and what I'm comfortable with. In that period I'd go out of my way to try to make what I deemed to be a decent impression (I couldn't totally look like a highly social-skilled person, but I tried. I still have no idea how embarrassing I looked to other people. Just imagine an INTP tryna act like an ESFJ. Not fun). So to sum up, sometimes I (try to, at least) take social cues and this can make me detach from myself, esp during social gatherings, but I'm pretty quick to turn back inward and realize what I actually think about things, if that makes sense. Btw I don't think I come off as charming like, at all. Maybe only to people who've known me for quite a long time and with whom I feel comfortable with, but that's not the point of being a social chamaleon, now, is it?
Back to the actual argument, I guess emotional/social intelligence (what you defined as correlated with Fi) is quite different from being a social chamaleon. Even if the latter relies on some kind of social intelligence, I guess it's like the negative degeneration of it. Generally, EQ is viewed in a very positive light, whereas being a social chamaleon can be quite negative and detrimental to the individual (maybe it's also used in a neutral sense, not sure). Plus, EQ is related to being able to identify and manage both your own and other people emotions. It's different from being a social chamaleon, which you defined accurately in your post.
I don't think I'm a social chamaleon, neither do I have high social/emotional intelligence. I guess I'm totally cool at understanding other people motives and such from behind the scenes, though. I can treat people like interesting lab rats in my mind. But I'm not really prone to act on it. You know what they say, something like we INTPs love humanity from a theoretical standpoint, while we absolutely hate relating to it in day-to-day life. I'm not sure it totally applies to me as you can only fully understand human nature by directly relating to it, but yeah, I'd very much rather observe it/study it than engage with it.
I've gotta say, though, that despite my Fe is inferior it seems like I fit in and work better for a group than some other NTs (yeah, even ENTPs) I know. Maybe it's because of my ivs or fixes or the fact that as a female I've been kinda trained to act in a certain way. I wouldn't say my Fe is the best, but I'm trying. I guess it can wildly oscillate - sometimes I totally shut it down, sometimes I feel like I'm overwhelmed by it. And, I don't know, I think it also relates to tert-Si. While Si doesn't make me eager to jump in uncomfortable situations (like social situations lmao), SiFe work just like TiNe: together. It's like Si has recorded certain specific social gestures/conventions/expressions/cues over time and through that I can use Fe in a less-horrid way, I think. I've made a note in an Italian forum about this, maybe I'll translate it in English. Basically though, one can see that Perceiving functions, though exactly the same, work in a different way when paired with different J functions. Take ESxJs for example: their Si will record/perceive things related to their preferred judging function. Fe works differently when associated with dom-Si or dom-Ni, and so on. This mechanism is true even for lower functions.
Being a social chameleon requires one to know themselves well as well as know others. It requires high emotional and social intelligence.
Well, that sucks for a lot people on the internet then. Including myself. Because this ain’t happening anytime soon
