Hello how are you? I love everything you write and I'm obsessed with Dick Grayson. You could write Dick being obsessed with his pretty girlfriend (we readers) I like these stories where he is obsessed in a way that is not crazy and violent. Usually when they write Yanderes it ends in violence, I don't want anything crazy or violent. Can't a man be obsessed with his girlfriend without ending up like that? please
Heyy im doing well, thank you for asking. I love "pretty girlfriend (we readers)" lmao yes we are pretty readers
Obsessed Dick Grayson x reader
Once dick realizes that what he has with you, what he feels for you and what you mean to him is so much more than his past relationships. Like those relationships don't even come in sight to what this is. He loses it a little.
All of a sudden his easy charms, flirtatious nature and playboy game is just gone and that too when he needs it most.
He gets flustered easy and its really weird for him aka Mr most desirable man in dc.
But don't worry , he learns how to work around those palpitations and blushing-by throwing himself into acts of service. Bringing you water without you even saying by realizing you've been swallowing more than average. Making you dinner which comes out of the oven the second you walk into your home by timing your "I've left work" message and the time on google maps ( or maybe just a tracker on you with your permission)
On the same note..HE IS SO OBSERVANT!! like how did you know that y/n wanted chocolate muffin when she likes trying different flavours every day? oh you analyzed her taste pattern and since she had a fruit in the morning, she will want chocolate? oh okay not weird at all dick
That cringey ginny scene from harry potter of her tying his shoelaces? Yea he sort of does those type of things really often. YOU CANT BLAME HIM OKAY ITS YOUR FAULT MAN HAS LOST ALL HIS RIZZ.
He gets so much more jealous. Like in his past relationships, the girlfriends were jealous not him. He was the one being hit on by everyone. People don't even hit on him as much cause rather than him making charming talk he is just standing behind you, head on your shoulder talking sweet to your ear. In fact it has happened on multiple occasions where he just didn't hear someone because he was busy looking at you in the dress you were wearing. also if you guys ever had a fight in the beginning of your relationship about you being insecure ...he will make sure there is a 4 foot stick between him and any other girl who tries touching him. Will jump onto a chandelier rather than let another girl touch him and risk your relationship . you tell him that its okay and you know he isn't reciprocating their feelings and that he doesn't have to jerk away while loudly saying "no no where's y/n WHERE IS MY Y/N" but he doesn't care nothing comes between him and his baby.
He drops stuff too, forgets whatever line he was about to say and um he has giggled when you complimented him once( but you guys don't talk about that anymore)
He just sort of learns to live with it since this just shows how much he loves you and well..there's no fixing it. And he'll find new ways to fluster you.
i hope this was somewhat you were looking for, have a good day!

TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
PART I
Seungmin x reader. (s)
Too Hot To Handle Masterlist
Synopsis: You and Seungmin become contestants in a reality dating show, Too Hot To Handle. (14,6k words)
Author's note: Not much of Seungmin in this part but hope you enjoy it nonetheless :)
YOU: I like my men how I like my drinks, I need to have five of them [laughs] I'm a flirt, even when I'm not flirting, they think I am [bites lips] I hate small talk [groans] I don't want anything serious with anyone. If I wake up in the morning and they're not there, that's great [blows kisses]
-
The weather is good and you're feeling good, when the staff says it's your time to enter the villa, you're ready to go.
The hair and makeup are on point, and the white bikini you're wearing compliments your features and complexion, all of that wouldn't stand out without confidence so you put your best foot forward and walk in confident strides.
Not forgetting to put on your best smile knowing so many pairs of eyes are looking at you as you step into the scene and walk faster as you get excited to meet all of them.
"Hello, hello," you enthusiastically greet and waving your hands at them.
"You guys are so beautiful!" You compliment, hiding your insecurities with a flustered smile.
Once you get close enough, you make a brief eye contact with everyone and start hugging around, introducing yourself to them.
"Oh my God, the eyes," you exclaim as you notice a pair of mesmerizing light brown eyes on a guy.
You're genuinely attracted to those eyes that you can't stop staring at him.
"You have such beautiful eyes," you blurt out without thinking.
He shyly laughs at your indirect compliment, "Thank you!"
You carefully remove the strand of hair caught between your lips before speaking, "What's your name?"
"Elliott," he answers with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Elliott," you say, offering your hand for a high-five since you already hugged him.
You join the other table, wanting to get to know everyone and get behind a man with a tall figure and long hair like Jesus.
"Oh, my Lord!" You playfully gasp.
The other two people laughing at your pun and when you join them, you can see that he has facial hair too.
"Come and join my disciples," He says.
"Wow. Am I in the right show?" You jokingly say, taking the champagne flute he hands you.
The Jesus twin brother pours the bubbly wine into your glass and puts the bottle back into the bucket of ice.
"I'm Vale," he tells you his name.
"Vale?" You pronounce his name wrong.
"It's short from Valentino," he explains.
"Oh! Vale!" You gasp, finally pronouncing his name right this time.
"I'm Italian," he informs you while tucking a hair behind his ear.
You take a small sip of your wine and smile, "I didn't know Jesus is Italian," you joke again.
He bursts into laughter and you try not to laugh or you'd spit your drink which is not the kind of first impression you plan to make on anyone.
"Oh, look!" You exclaim as you catch another guest arriving at the villa.
She's taking everyone's attention with her beautiful wavy, brown hair that looks and beautiful, rosy cheeks, walking with such elegance like a goddess emerging from the sea.
When she comes your way, you can see the adorable freckles on her nose and you just can't help but say, "Oh, you're such a babe!"
She smiles at your words and leans in for a hug, "Devon!"
"Devon, the babe, got it," you repeat and introduce yourself back.
You're not the only one who's swooned by her English charms, you can see everyone is just as excited to get to know her.
While Louisa is making a toast at the other table, you see the last male guest coming with his shirt flying open, showcasing his sculpted abs.
You're not the type that's crazy about muscles. However, when you see them on someone and they have them in the perfect places, you get a little loopy in the head.
"Blake," he introduces himself to you.
And Blake... oh, not only does he have those muscles in the perfect places, he has this gorgeous brown skin and the plus point is he has tattoos. He sure is driving the girls into a frenzy, meanwhile the boys, they're not that impressed with it.
"They're so hot," A girl next to you whispers and if your memory serves you right, her name is Adriana.
You lowly squeal in response and mutter through your gritted teeth, "I'm drooling."
Now that everyone is here, Vale takes the unopened bottle of wine and pops it open, spraying it at everyone to inaugurate the show.
-
YOU: [Rubs hands together] Let's get it started!
-
There are so many hot options in this villa.
There is Elliott's mesmerizing eyes, Vale's sexy hair, Jeff's tattoos, Tom's big biceps and then there's Blake's body.
God! Blake's body is just so hot, you bet it'll sizzle when you lick it.
"Ooo... sexy!" Adriana gasps as she pushes open the door to the bedroom.
There are ten guests but there are only six beds, well, that's a math problem anyone can easily solve.
"It doesn't make much sound," Tom says after testing the bed by rocking it.
A few laugh at that but you're too busy eyeing the guy you want, throwing flirty glances at Blake as he sits on the end of the bed.
You're very much aware that you're not the only girl having the hots for Blake, you see that Devon has her eyes on him too, well, you're not afraid of a little competition anyway.
After the tour of the villa, the girls are gathering in the dressing room to talk about... well, boys.
"Who do you fancy?" Lili asks, playing with a make-up brush.
"I like Jeff," Adriana is the first one to share her pick out of the sexy bunch.
"Going for the bad boy, huh?" Issa teases, twirling her curls around her index finger.
"What about you, sexy mami?" Adriana asks Devon who happens to sitting next to her.
"Blake," she shortly answers
So your guess is true that Devon is indeed going for Blake and it only means one thing: It's game on.
"He's hot, yeah," Lili approves Devon's pick.
Issa grabs your hand and gently shakes it, sending your bracelets clinking against each other, "How about you?"
Well, you have a man in mind but nothing is permanent yet and there's a lot of time to get to know everyone.
"I don't know," You bend against the vanity table and let Issa play with your hair.
"I don't want to limit myself to just flirting with one guy," you add with a laugh.
The girls are both applauding and chuckling at your honest answer. You realize that you can be competitive when you want to but let's hope it doesn't come to you getting your claws out for a man.
-
YOU: I don't know what I want yet so I can't rule anyone out right now [giggles]
-
The shimmering water of the Caribbean Sea is such a delightful sight, you take a long sigh as you take it all in that you'll be living here for the next 30 days.
Everyone else is either chilling by the pool or starting to mingle with each other or both.
You see Devon is closing in on Blake and it doesn't bother you much, you'll have your chance. You remind yourself that it's a marathon, not a sprint.
Someone comes up to you and joins you in the gazebo, it's the guy with the mesmerizing eyes, Elliott.
"Drinks?" He offers, holding up the drinks in his hands at you.
"Yes, please," you answer, scooting to the side to make some space on the sofa for him.
He hands you one of the drinks to you before sitting down, you both take a little sip of the sugary sweet cocktails.
"This is cute," you comment, stirring the drink with the small umbrella.
"Like you," Elliott teases with a flirty smile.
You giggle in reaction to his words, "You think I'm cute?"
Elliott licks his lips after sipping his drink, "Yeah."
Pulling a trick out of the book, you tilt your head to the side and flutter your eyelids a little.
"And I think you're cute too," you sweetly say, then clink your glass with his.
You have another sip of the cocktail and scrunch your nose when you taste the sour of the lime on the rim of the glass. You catch Elliott staring at you and knowing that he just got caught, he may as well ask, "So, do you fancy anyone?"
With your head still tilted, you do a little look away before looking at him right in the eyes, "Oh, wow, that's a tough question," you pretend to think hard.
Elliott is confidently staring right back into your eyes as he asks another question, "Anyone you want?"
You let out a low chuckle and answer, "I think it's too early to say."
"That's a good answer," he mutters.
Elliott is not taking his eyes away from yours even for a second, his stare is so intense that it makes you nervous. An awkward chuckle escapes your mouth, "Your eyes..."
You look down at your drink and put all of your focus on it instead, "They're making me nervous," you continue.
Elliott triumphantly smiles knowing that his eyes are doing a great job, "I'm just trying to shoot my shot here," he coyly says with a sexy smirk.
You nod and tuck your hair behind your ear, "I understand. You want what you want."
"Mm-hm," he immediately agrees with what you said.
"What I want is right here," he continues, clinking his glass against yours.
Elliott is, physically wise, not your type but he's confident, he has that good chat and he knows how to keep the conversation going.
As the saying goes if at first you don't succeed, then go for your second choice and Elliott would make a great second choice.
-
YOU: Well, if Blake is not going to acknowledge the fact that I'm here then I'm just going to give Elliott a chance.
-
It's loud in the dressing room as everyone comes up with guesses on what actually would happen tonight at the first party of Party In Paradise.
They prepare costumes for everyone to wear for the first party in the villa. The boys are dressed as pirates while the girls are dressed as mermaids and you choose the one adorned with sapphire blue sequins that resemble mermaid scales.
The beach is decorated with properties according to the theme and the drinks are ready so is the music, they're blasting upbeat songs through big speakers.
Everyone is looking hot, they're dancing and drinking, having the time of their life, it indeed feels like a party in paradise.
The good time comes to a halt as Issa initiates a game but it's actually what the staff briefed her earlier about.
"We're going to play X marks the spot," Issa says.
She then pulls lipstick out of the side of the sofa and uses it to make two crosses on each one of her breasts, "These are my best features so you can lick them, bite them, grab them, or even kiss the person if you want," she explains the game.
It's a simple game, with or without marking the spot, everyone knows where to touch or kiss. Issa then walks to the center and stands in front of everyone.
"So who wants a piece of me?" She cutely says while shaking her shoulders.
As everyone is about to hype Issa, Jeff dashes towards her and buries his head between her mounds, rubbing the red lipstick all over his face then plants a hard kiss on her lips. He then returns to his seat, leaving Issa standing there in bewilderment.
Everyone is either excited for their turn or to finally have the chance to make physical contact with the person they're interested in, including you.
You can't tell which one you're more excited for, taking your turn or making a move on someone.
It seems like it's the latter for Devon as Blake is drawing small crosses on his six-pack abs. He raises his hands and puts them behind him, letting anyone come to him.
"Come and get some," he says with a devilish smirk that takes his attractiveness to the next level.
Devon not only puts her claws on him but also sinks her teeth deep into Blake's neck, letting everyone know that it's her territory.
Well, Devon can piss on Blake too if she wants and you'll let her have him, for now.
Jeff whistles as Adriana marks both of her buttcheeks with the red lipstick while the others are howling like animals in heat.
"Whoa!" Lili grabs at your forearm in reaction to Tom licking her buttcheeks as Adriana slightly bends over.
"Oh, my God!" You gasp as they continue with a slobbering kiss, sending the red lips rubbing on each other's faces.
She then walks back to her seat and plops down next to you, panting while wiping the skin around her mouth with her fingers.
When it's finally your turn, you get so excited that you can't seem to function normally. You can't stop grinning as you walk to the center, carrying the lipsticks Adriana gave to you.
It's time to get some action so you give them no excuses to miss out on you. With the red lipsticks, you draw an X on your inner thigh, your breasts, and the last one, excessively putting the lipsticks all over your lips.
"Let's go, boys!" You say with a hand gesture, daring them to come.
As expected, Elliott is the first one to come out to play. He walks up to you with a sly grin plastered his face and he stops right in front of you, dropping to his knees to kiss your inner thigh.
His soft lips tickle you as he drags them down your thigh and you can't help but giggle. The trail of kisses stops when he reaches your ankle and he finally lets go of your leg.
Elliott gets up and immediately pulls you close, capturing your lips in a deep kiss. The way he eagerly lathers your lips, you can tell how much he wanted it, craved it and it's low-key arousing you.
You gasp for air when he lets go of the kiss and you hurriedly cover your mouth with your hand, nonplussed.
Before you can fully recover from Elliott's kiss, Blake walks up to you and holds you by the waist as he plants his mouth right on the X you drew on your breast.
He licks the red lipstick off your skin and does not waste another second to crash his mouth against your mouth, kissing you so hard.
You open your mouth to catch a breath, but he uses it as an opportunity to put his hot tongue into you, kissing you deeper, tasting you more.
You can hear everyone cheering and hooting as they watch Blake let go of the kiss with a triumphant smile on his face.
"Don't make me compete with you, man!" Elliott jokingly says with his mouth still tainted red from the lipstick.
To say the kiss was good would be an understatement, it was phenomenal, you get a little disoriented as you walk back to your seat.
-
YOU: I just knew he wouldn't be able to resist me [Coyly shrugs]
-
It's a good thing that you have some drink left in your cup as you need it to help you calm down from the madness you were in a while ago. You feel hot and bothered, finding yourself fanning your face from Blake's kiss.
The host of the show finally comes and leads the show, walking so carefully with her heels in the sand.
"Hello, party people!" She begins with a bright smile.
Everyone answers with a cheery howl, louder than the sounds of the crashing waves in the background.
"Are you having a good time?"
"Yeah!" Everyone replies in unison.
"Are you ready to have some more good time?" The host asks, fanning her hand close to her ear to hear everyone's answer.
"Yeah!"
"You know what? I think I know exactly what this party needs," the host says with a kittenish smile.
The fun keeps doubling as the night gets late and it gets everyone hyped for what's to come.
"We have invited a guest to the villa!" She announces with a playful whoop at the end of the sentence.
Your first thought is that they'll bring another guest into the villa but it's a party in paradise which means more people, the merrier.
"This one guest is very special and can change anything," The host hinted with a cryptic smile.
That piques everyone's interest and they're starting to randomly shout names of famous people, trying to guess and manifesting it at once.
"Are you ready to welcome our world-famous guest?" The host asks, also giving out another hint which makes a few of them believe it's a celebrity.
"Yes!" Everyone answers, getting impatient to find out who the new guest is.
You don't want to get your hopes up but it would be nice to party with a celebrity, whoever it is, you're ready to have some fun.
"Give our new guest a warm welcome!"
All of the lights are suddenly off and then a spotlight shines on the curtain behind our seats, you've been thinking that it's just part of the decoration but now everyone's eyes are on it, looking at it with so much anticipation.
"No way!" You gasp in a mix of nerves and excitement.
Adriana just can't stop squealing next to you, holding your hand by the wrist.
It's been a minute now and the curtain is still not open, you feel like fainting with this much anticipation inside you. A while later, smoke starts coming out as the curtain finally opens in one quick pull.
Then there's that melodic chime that you heard somewhere before.
-
YOU: [Groans] Why? [Throws head to the back] Why?
-
You look around and everyone is just as flabbergasted, as in shock as you are at the reveal of the true intentions of this show. All of you have been tricked into thinking that it's a Party In Paradise when it's actually Too Hot To Handle.
As if the sight of the cone is not enough, Lili turns her head at you and meekly says, "We're in Too Hot To Handle."
Now that she says it out loud, you realize that it's real and you can feel that you're already dreading it.
She rubs her temples and says again, "This is Too Hot To Handle."
Oh, no. This is real. You are in Too Hot To Handle.
"As you can see, this is no longer Party In Paradise," The cone begins talking.
"But it's so convincing, the crew got Party In Paradise shirts and everything," Adriana complain as if that would help her get out of this.
"This is Too Hot To Handle."
"Shit... fuck..." you quietly mutter as you rub your temples in stress.
"You have been specially selected because all of you are having meaningless flings over genuine relationships," Lana continues.
Wish you could deny it but you feel called out instead, if that's the case, then you guess, this is your karma.
"Not wrong at all," Elliott agrees with Lana's statement with a stupid grin.
"Since your arrival, I have been gathering data on your wild behavior but from now on, you must adhere to my retreat rules."
-
YOU: Hmm... my coochie is going on lockdown, isn't it? [Sighs]
-
"No kissing."
But that's exactly your plan which is to kiss everyone.
"No heavy petting."
The more you hear it, the harder for you to process it in your head and whether you can do it or not.
"No sex."
And that's it. You can't do it, it's impossible. You'll be staying with a bunch of attractive people in a villa on an exotic island and told not to make physical contact with them.
"And no self-gratification," Lana announces the last rule.
Which is the hardest one for you to accept. It's your own body and you can do anything to it? It doesn't make sense.
"That's crazy!" Blake reacts with his eyes widening in disbelief.
Despite the complaints, Lana continues with her announcement, "As part of your social development, I have allocated a prize of $200,000."
Hearing that much money on the line, you suddenly have a change of mind that maybe it's possible to keep your hands to yourself for 200 grand.
Among the cheering of excitement at the sum of prize money, Jeff makes a bold remark.
"We surely can spend some of it," Jeff sounds excited to spend it more than to win it.
"No, man. Don't mess it up!" Tom warns him while shaking his head in disbelief.
"Just a couple of grand," Jeff innocently says.
"I'm a college student. I need it," Tom says, putting some sense into him.
Jeff indirectly says that he doesn't mind spending some of the money only supporting the fact that it's not going to be easy and your optimism deflates right away.
Another problem is you don't have that much trust in yourself that you'll be able to keep it yourself.
"Welcome to your long, hard, sexless summer," Lana concludes.
-
YOU: It's going to be hard but... since when do I follow the rules? [Smirks]
-
The morning starts rough.
You wake up as soon as the lights are on, dragging yourself out of the duvet, and sit on the bed only to look Devon and Blake on the bed right across from yours.
Lili wakes up not long after you and sitting on the bed, lowly muttering, "I am so horny."
Hearing that almost causes you to choke on your water as you sip it from a water tumbler.
It's like she triggers the cone by mentioning the word 'horny', the cone lights up and chimes.
"Good morning!"
You groan as the truth that you're in a sex retreat hasn't fully sunk in yet.
"You may find this retreat challenging but I am always here to help," Lana offers some comfort on a gloomy, sex-deprived morning.
"And we ask for sex, Lana," Adriana says with a sleepy, depressive smile.
Tom who sleeps with Adriana on the next bed, turns to see Blake and asks, "Are you sure nothing happened last night?"
You act nonchalant but at the same time, stay quiet to hear his answer.
He coyly shrugs and rubs his eyes as he answers, "No."
"I notice the smug," Adriana teases Devon.
She shakes her head in response, "Nothing happens, I swear."
That doesn't quite put you at ease.
There's a big chance that they did break the rules but act like they didn't and if they did break the rules, then you don't want to waste your time pursuing Blake.
However, as you gather all of your hair and tie it into a messy ponytail, you catch Blake looking at you with a faint smile on his face.
-
YOU: I'm still going for Blake but if he's still not showing any signs that he's interested well... I may have to put my focus on someone else.
-
Last night was just as rough.
Everyone was still coping with the grand reveal and just couldn't wait to end the day, choosing their beds where they felt like it. Lili offered to share the bed with you since she doesn’t want to partner up with anyone just yet and you didn’t have problems sleeping with anyone.
But the other reason was that Blake had chosen to sleep with Devon.
Of course, you’re not going to be so adamant about your choice of man but what you can’t help is being tenacious, you have to always get what you want, and you don’t want to know what would happen if you don’t get it.
Since you took the first turn for the daily interview, you get to start your day late. You’re going down to the beach to do some exercises with Vale sitting cross-legged on the yoga mat not far away from you, meditating.
That’s the kind of vibe you got when you first met him that despite his perfect figure and built body, he’s a spiritual person, he’s the type who seeks ‘that’ connection. Unlike you, Vale fits right into this show and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he won it too.
“Hey, come and join me,” He says to you as you take a break from working.
You stop sucking your water tumbler and ask, “You want me to meditate with you?”
“Yeah,” he shortly says.
You quickly wipe your sweat with a towel and sit on the yoga mat he laid out for you next to him. You follow the way he sits, crossing your legs together and putting your hands on your knees, then intently listen to his instructions for the rest of the session.
It works wonderfully and helps you take your mind off things. Once you both got back to the villa, he playfully asks if you want to shower together.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” You tell him as you splash some water on your face in the sink.
As you continue washing your face, you catch the reflection in the mirror as he stands behind you with the towel hanging low around his hips you can see his pelvic bones.
“It’s not against the rules,” Vale simply says, half-laughing.
“Yes, but…” You suddenly forget what you’re about to say and turn around only to find him dropping his towel before he walks into the shower stall.
Your hands fly to cover your face but continue to see through the cracks between your fingers, “Okay, now all I can think about is naked Jesus,” you jokingly say.
Vale laughs as he catches what you said even though he’s inside the shower stall, laughing as he runs his hands to wash his golden tan skin. You leave the bathroom before you change your mind and join him in the shower.
-
YOU: Can’t believe I got to see naked Jesus [Laughs]
-
In the dressing room, you’re getting your make-up done and going to dry your hair next. You check for your appearance in the full-length mirror, making sure the bikini looks flattering on you when you hear someone coming from the hallway that connects here with the bedroom.
“Hey,” You don’t want to make it obvious that you’re glad to see him but you’re glad to see him.
“Hey,” Blake says back, grinning when he realizes that it’s you.
He stops on his track just checking you out, his eyes traveling up and down your body, “Been looking for you,” he says.
You know better not to fall on such words, “Oh, really?”
“Yeah,” he shortly says with a grin that is both hot and sweet. He then goes to his closet on the opposite wall and takes out a bucket hat, putting it on to show it to you.
“How do we think?” He asks.
You close your closet door and rest your hand against it, “Cute.”
He switches the bucket hat with a cap and puts it on while also making a dramatic pose for you, “How about now?”
It’s hard to look at his face when his abs keep distracting you and you chuckle at how he spreads his arms out, “Try putting it on backward,” you suggest.
Blake follows your suggestion, turning the cap without taking it off, and strikes another pose for you, “Yeah?”
You were right about the hat, he looks hot with his cap on backward, and just like he heard what you’re thinking, Blake spins around on his feet and almost stumbles as he gets back on his feet.
“I know I’m hot but try not to kiss me, okay?” he says.
Well, you can try not to but that doesn’t mean you won’t do it. You shake your head and suck air through your teeth, “Can’t promise you,” you playfully say.
“Come here, give me a hug,” Blake says, holding his hand out at you.
You take it only for him to pull you close and hug you, burying his head in your neck to catch your scent, “How are you doing?”
You giggle as he rubs his nose in your neck and you get to put your hands on him, feeling his warm skin under your touch, “Good. You?”
Instead of answering, Blake draws you closer, molding his body to you to feel your whole body against him, and lowers his hands to your hips. You don’t mind though, he’s so big and you like how he envelops you whole.
You hear his overwhelmed sigh before he plants a kiss on your neck, “Damn! You smell so good,” he mutters.
“Well, I showered,” you respond with a witty answer.
“I should try that,” he responds with an even wittier answer.
Blake closes the door of his closet and heads for the door, “See you around.”
“See you around,” you say back with a flirty smile.
-
YOU: I know Blake and I haven’t talked much but there’s something there and I can’t wait to explore that.
-
It feels like it was a while ago that you get ready for the day and now the day has turned to night.
You have to change out of your bikini and into a dress, getting help from Adriana to tie the straps on your back. The girls are busy putting on make-up and looking their best to attract whoever they fancy, including you.
It’s not that hard to know that Blake indeed feels something for you, you sense it in the kiss he gave you during the game yesterday and the way he hugged you this morning, or the way he secretly gives you the eyes even though he’s sitting right next to Devon right now.
People can run their mouths all they want but their bodies can’t lie. You can’t fake a physical attraction.
You join Vale sitting on the lounger next to him with a glass of wine in hand, “Cute shirt!” You compliment his colorful printed shirt.
“Thank you,” Vale responds with a bright smile.
You get comfortable and take a small sip of your wine before asking something you’ve been curious to find out, “My sweet Jesus, do you find anyone you fancy in here?”
Vale scratches his beard as he thinks of an answer, “Honestly… no, not yet.”
Vale is gorgeous and hot, you vibe well with him and he’s earnest which tells you that he’s someone that you can trust. Despite all of those qualities, he’s not quite the type you’re looking for and you believe, it’s vice versa.
“What’s your type?”
“I don’t have such things. I think I never limit myself to a certain type of person. It’s whoever attracts me,” he replies and his words carry some wisdom in them.
To put it simply, he’s not attracted to anyone and therefore, it confirms your assumptions about him.
Vale brushes his long hair to the back, sending a few strands falling over his face, “How about you? Who do you fancy?”
You put your glass of wine down and turn your head around for the person you’re looking for, finding him talking to Tom by the firepit.
“For now, it’s Blake,” you answer.
“How about Elliott?” He asks, tucking his hair behind his ear.
“Elliott is... he is cute and all but I like Blake,” you answer, hinting that Blake is your priority.
Vale cranes his neck to see Blake and then slumps back down on his lounger, “It seems like Devon got him on a leash,” he says.
“Yeah,” you say while chuckling.
You turn your head to see Devon putting her leg over Blake’s lap, “but that’s not going to stop me though,” you add.
Vale cracks a laugh, “I like that,” he says.
“Right? I don’t see any rings on it so...” You decide not to finish your words and have a sip of your drink instead.
Talking about Blake gets you thinking to start making a move, separating him from Devon is going to be the hardest part so you decide to take a moment to refresh yourself before executing your plan.
“I’m going to powder my nose,” you excuse yourself as get up from the lounger.
Vale doesn’t reply but helps you by handing you your glass. As you start walking away though, he shouts, “Hey, you’re beautiful!”
You look over your shoulder and blow a kiss at him, “I know.”
-
YOU: From what I see is that Vale is looking for someone he can instantly connect with and I hope he finds it.
-
The heels you’re wearing are starting to irritate you, you switch into a comfortable pair of wedges sandals and then take your make-up pouch with you to the bathroom.
You take a tube of lip gloss and put on a layer over your lips while leaning close to the mirror. You smack your lips together and check if there’s anything you can fix, deciding that a little more blush won’t hurt.
As you’re about to apply it to your cheek, you immediately stop moving as you see someone come into the bathroom.
“Hey, gorgeous!” Devon sweetly says.
From how enthusiastic she sounds, you’re sure the intention isn’t as sweet as her greeting. You put down everything you’re holding and turn around.
“Hey, babe,” you greet back with less enthusiasm than her.
Devon sits on the edge of the bathtub and starts brushing wavy hair with her fingers, “How are you?”
You rest your hands on the surface of the sink and lean against it, “I’m good. You?”
“Good,” she shortly replies.
She plays with her nails and a while later, looks at you, “I love the dress,” she says.
It seems like the compliment is an effort to try to soften you for whatever trick she has up on her sleeve, you put on a smile for her and mutter, “Thank you.”
A moment passes just you and Devon looking at each other and the silence that hangs in the space in between only adds animosity in the room.
“I have something to tell you,” Devon finally reveals her true intentions on why she came here.
You keep your smile on and slightly tilt your head to the side, “Yes.”
Devon bites her lips and fiddles with her bangles around her dainty wrist, “I know you’ve been like... eyeing Blake,” she begins.
“Yes,” you immediately reply, showing her that you don’t mind making it an open competition with her for it.
“I want to be honest with you and I hope you understand that I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings,” she says with a smile, in contrast to her words, she looks rather enjoying it.
“Blake and I,” she pauses to keep you on your toes.
Devon then flips her hair to the back and continues, “We kissed.”
The thing that you fear the most has happened and you don’t want to give Devon the satisfaction, you calmly cross your arms in front of you and nod.
“Okay,” you say with a plain tone.
“Oh, my God! I’m sorry,” Devon says, being dramatic for the two of you.
She comes and gives you a hug which she thinks would cheer you up. You reluctantly accept it even though you know she’s pitying you.
“I just want to tell you that,” she says as she pulls away from the hug.
Devon indirectly tells you that she comes here just to break your spirit and you don’t know how to respond to that. You actually know how to respond to that but you know you’re better than that.
Once Devon left the bathroom, you turn back around to face the mirror again and lowly mutter, “What the actual fuck?”
-
YOU: How thoughtful of Devon on letting me know about their kiss but girl, what the fuck?
-
It seems like Lana is not going to announce any rule breaks tonight. She’s more likely to collect the rule breaks for now and will eventually turn up with the receipt.
You don’t know how you feel about it but you enjoy seeing the sheer disappointment on Devon’s face that she didn’t get the chance to brag about her kiss with Blake.
Talking about Blake, you reckon you should move on but how can you forget Blake in one night?
It’s impossible, not when you’ll always see him walking around the villa looking so fine and tempting. As you get on your bed, you catch him looking at you and slyly smiling at you.
You don’t want to fall back into it but the bad girl in you tells you to not shut him down completely so you decide to put on a thin smile in return.
That should be enough to tell him that you’re not pleased.
You look away and see your bed partner with her arms flexed as she’s braiding her dark hair. You notice that her arm muscles are so defined and it should be from hours spent in the gym working on them.
Curious, your hand reaches for her shoulder and lowers it to feel her lats, “Lil, how much do you lift?”
She’s tying the end of her hair with a scrunchie then looks over her shoulder, “About 140 to 156,” she answers.
“Girl!” You gasp in shock.
Looking at her lean figure and your hard guess at her body weight, she must be advanced in weightlifting.
You allow yourself to feel the muscles on her arms, from her trapezius muscle down to her bicep, “Remind me not to work with you,” you jokingly say.
Tom enters the room carrying a water tumbler in his hand, he stops right in the middle of the room and looks at everyone.
“Did anyone break any rules today?” He asks.
It’s useless to ask, no one is going to say anything unless the situation pressures them to talk. For instance, Blake is shaking his head as Tom is seeking his answer.
“Be good you two!” Tom says to both Blake and Devon, making a gesture that his eyes will always be on them.
Well, good luck with that because they already did break the rules and succeeded in lying right to his face.
“Goodnight, everyone,” Adriana says, blowing kisses around the room right before the lights are out.
Tom was wrong to fear that these people would break rules during the day. What Tom should be afraid of is what these people do in the dark.
-
YOU: What cuddles? I got to feel my bed partner’s muscles in my sleep [laughs]
-
In the morning, Jesus comes to your bed.
The bed quakes as Vale dives right into the space between you and Lili.
“Morning, beautiful!” Vale says, getting comfortable as he puts his hand over your waist.
“Morning,” you sleepily reply, groping around with your eyes closed to touch him.
“Your skin is so soft,” Lili says.
You turn your head to see Lili rubbing Vale’s back. Wanting to prove Lili’s words, you follow suit and rub your hand down his shoulder.
“It feels like a foreplay now,” Vale mumbles with his head buried in your pillow.
You continue your day with a quick workout and a meditating session with Vale. After that, you decide to skip the shower and put on a swimsuit, taking a few laps in the swimming pool.
Maybe it’s because you have someone to avoid that you keep yourself busy, but when you look at the time, it’s barely noon.
As you take a break from swimming and use the opportunity to enjoy the view of the sea shimmering under the morning sun, you hear a splash. You notice someone joins you in the pool and he swims right at you.
“Hey, morning,” Elliott softly greets.
You put all of your wet hair to the back and smile, “Morning!”
“How are you?” He asks, wiping the beads of water gathering under his chin.
“Alright, I guess,” You honestly answer.
You turn to the side to face him while keeping one hand resting on the edge of the pool, “You?”
“I’m great,” he replies with enthusiasm that matches his answer.
The sun hits right on his eyes, making them brighter yet fiercer and they’re just as good as weapons now. You can only hope Elliott knows how to use them.
“Uhm...” Elliott seems to have something to say but hesitates to do so, “I know you have your eyes on Blake.”
Welp, it’s that obvious? You nod since there’s no use in denying it.
“Do you... still have your eyes on him or...?”
So Elliott wants to know if you have given up on pursuing Blake and you can safely assume that he hopes to slide right into his spot.
“I already made him aware that I kind of fancy him but I’m not getting anything back so... I don’t know,” You honestly answer, you feel pity for yourself as you say those out loud.
“Mmm-hmm...” Elliott bobs his head as he takes your answer.
The water trickles down his face as he pushes his wet hair to the back, “And who is your second option?”
Your assumption is true, Elliott is looking for a way to get into you and you appreciate that he didn’t come on to you and make it one big chase. He’s so easy and laid-back, and you like that.
“You,” You answer.
A sweet smile rises on his face and expresses his happiness with a cute shout, “Yay!”
It’s not even a phony answer, if there’s anyone else you want to try to make a connection with, it’s him.
“I haven’t got the chance to ask you about our kiss,” he says, taking a step closer to you.
It’s getting dangerous now that he wants to talk about the kiss in this proximity where you can see that his eyes are green in this light.
“What do you think about it?”
“About our kiss?”
He nods as the smile has been replaced with a grin, “Yes.”
You recall the moment when he kissed you during the game, “That was very cute.”
He suddenly lets out a chuckle and scratches his head. Is he flustered or nervous? You have no idea.
“How much do you think a kiss costs?” He suddenly asks.
Oh. You sense trouble right away but you’ve been craving for a little something. A kiss will suffice, you reckon.
Elliott is intensely staring into your eyes as you consider his idea, grinning at the 50% chance that you’d say yes to it.
“Fuck...” You curse as you let out a sigh.
You try to get yourself out of it by averting your focus elsewhere, fixing your bikini, and reminding yourself of Lana and her stupid rules. However, when your eyes meet again, your mind is set right away.
It; ‘s like your bodies are drawn to each other, Elliott and you come at each other at the same time and kiss. Maybe it’s because both of you are relaxed and there’s no one else watching, the kiss feels much nicer than the one you shared before.
Elliott puts the right amount of everything, the lips, the tongue, and even the teeth, you like how he kisses you, hungry yet gentle.
You hear nothing but the smooching sounds of both of your lips lathering each other and your bodies moving in the water.
“Your kiss is just so good,” Elliott says as he takes a step back from you.
And just like that, you break the rules for the first time in the retreat.
-
YOU: I was bored. I wanted to make Blake jealous and Elliott, I have a soft spot for him so... yeah, I kissed him.
-
There’s just something about doing the things that you shouldn’t and doing it anyway, the rush, the thrill of it... it makes you feel so alive.
Now that you’ve got a taste of it, you want more.
Just like Jeff said, we have so many cookies in the jar, 200 grand of them to be exact, and eating one or two more cookies should be fine.
The next question is who do you want to have the cookies with?
Elliott is the easy choice, he’s cool, he’s so easy-going, he’s following the vibe but that’s also the problem, he’s easy and you don’t want easy.
If we’re talking about Blake... oh, yes, he’s not easy, not when Devon is keeping him on a short, tight leash and that tells you enough that she’s not confident about him.
You steal a few glances at her as she’s doing her makeup on the other side of the vanity table from you, looking at her and seeing how pretty she is, there’s no reason for her to be that insecure.
Or maybe you’re that threatening to her? Well, that thought amused you so much.
“Pick one for me!” Adriana says, showing you two different colors of lipsticks in her hands to help her choose one.
“Uhm...” you take a closer look at the color.
Adriana has gorgeous full lips so you choose one with a deep berry color that would suit her better, “This!”
You watch as she’s about to apply it on her lips when the cone in the room lights up and chimes, startling everyone in their seats.
“Ah!” Adriana squeals in surprise.
“Hello, girls!” Lana greets.
“Hello, Lana,” You put down everything you’re holding, getting nervous that it’s about time for Lana to announce the rule breaks.
“I have given the chance for Blake to go on a date with one of you,” Lana announces.
Oh? Is it finally your chance to test the water and see if Blake is on board? You look around to see if anyone is also anticipating this but Devon is the only one looking a little fidgety on her seat.
“Blake has chosen...”
The real question is: is Blake ballsy enough to break away from Devon’s leash? It’s time to find out.
“... Devon.”
-
YOU: Un-fucking-believeable!
-
Devon is smiling from ear to ear after hearing Blake has chosen her for the date.
You believe Blake is playing it safe by choosing Devon, oh, well, it’s his loss, not yours. You continue with getting ready for the night with the rest of the girls.
You check yourself in the mirror and like what you see, especially the dress that enhances the curves on your body.
“What a waste of an outfit!” You mutter, allowing yourself to feel upset about not getting chosen.
Someone puts her arm around you and says, “Oh! We look so hot!”
You look at both of you and Adriana’s reflections in the mirror and suddenly gain your confidence back. Since when you’re not dressing for other people, you’re dressing for yourself.
Everyone is hanging out in the firepit. You’re sharing the small sofa with Vale and Lili is taking the other end, talking to Adriana and Tom with drinks in hands.
It only takes a couple of days for everyone to get used to each other and you guess it’s because everyone shares the same vibe, everyone simply wants to have fun and they don’t let Lana’s rules stop them from doing it.
Unfortunately, you get called to the interview room and do your duty as a TV show contestant, telling the camera about everything to its tiniest details.
That’s what they need for the TV, something juicy, and the juicier the better.
You promise to keep yourself as genuine as possible and only tell the truth, not fabricating any of it. Not going to lie, you feel tempted at times but you realize that one day, you’ll be out of here and you don’t want to regret something you said or did in the show.
You bump into Elliott on your way out as it’s his turn next and you squeeze his hand as you walk past each other.
“Have fun in there!” You playfully say.
Instead of going back to the firepit, you make a turn to the bedroom, wanting to take a moment for yourself to unwind. You take your shoes off once you get to your bed and take a hearty sip of water.
It’s not life if you always get what you want. Blake enters the room not long after you, his shirt is undone and you guess he must’ve just come back from his date with Devon.
What is it with him with his shirt flies open though? You have a hot body, yes, you get it.
Anyway, you want to ignore him but he smiles the second he spots you.
“Hello,” he softly says.
You put on a small smile and greet back, “Hey.”
You cap your water tumbler and put it on your bedside table, “Back from your date, huh?”
Instead of answering, Blake comes at you and does not stop until his body crashes against yours, taking you with him as he topples on your bed.
You’re giggling as he pins you under and then you gently push him away to sit on your bed. You don’t want to give it to him east, not after he chose someone else over you.
“So, how was the date?” You casually ask while fixing the straps of your dress.
Blake sits next to you, leaning back with his hands propped against the mattress, “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what I want,” he vaguely says.
Well, that’s what he gets for keeping his options way too open. Then Blake turns his head at you then continues, “But I know who I want.”
You get it that he’s hinting at you from the way he raises his eyebrow and slyly smiles at you. But you play dumb instead, wanting to hear him saying it out loud.
“And it’s Devon?” You say.
He dramatically closes his eyes and lets out a low sigh, “It’s you.”
You pretend to be surprised to hear it, “Oh, it’s me?”
Blake nods and smiles, he rubs his hand down his abs, trying to make you look at it.
“What do you think?”
You’re sure he’s talking about what he just said, not the abs, and honestly, it sounds not that convincing.
“I don’t know what to feel about it. You just came back from a date with someone else,” you point out the only way that gets in the way of trusting his words.
Blake drags his hand on the bed until he finds your hand and holds it, “I know I have something going on but I wish we did talk more, get to know you more.”
You don’t know what he’s going with it but giving him a chance to explain himself.
“But just know... Just know that I feel something for you,” he says.
It should be a triumphant moment, knowing that the guy you like is liking you back but you feel conflicted instead.
Blake inhales air and then stares into your eyes, “I want you to know that,” he concludes with his thumb gently rubbing the back of your hand.
You want to give him one more chance to prove himself, to prove that he’ll act exactly like what he said to you.
You nod and smile, “Alright.”
But for now, you want to take his words as they are, that it’s simply him telling you what he’s feeling.
-
YOU: There’s something about him that’s calling for you and you kind of want to answer that.
-
As if Lana is aware that the two of you are alone which means there's a big chance of rule-breaking, the cone in the room chimes, making you jolt on your bed.
"Please gather everyone in the cabana," Lana orders.
You're clutching your chest as you walk to the cabana, knowing that it's the time: Lana is going to announce the rule breaks.
The plan is you'll sit there and not going to say anything, and you're aware of how flawed that plan is.
A moment after everyone assembled in the cabana, the cone chimes and lights up as she sits in the middle of the round, glass table.
"Good evening, everyone," Lana starts.
"Hello, Lana!" A few replies in a not-so-enthusiastic tone.
Before Lana talks further, you glance at Elliott and he catches you looking, the anxiety is also drawn on his face.
"The rules of my retreat have already been broken," Lana drops the truth right away.
"Oh, no!" Lili exclaims with her eyes going side to side.
Tom looks upset already with his clasped hands pushed close to his mouth.
"Wow!" he comments with a plain tone.
He takes a deep breath and finally be the one who confronts everyone, "Is there anybody that wants to come clean?"
-
YOU: I broke the rules but I'm not telling anyone shit.
-
You try to avoid looking in Tom's direction but it's hard when he's sitting right across from yours so you look the other away only to catch Elliott looking at you.
Elliott seems not to know how to put on a good poker face, he keeps grinning but the kind that only makes him appear guilty.
Adriana is the first to spot it, "Elliott?"
Elliott lets out a nervous chuckle, "Nah. Not me."
He gives it away as he can't stop grinning and as soon as he glances your way, you subtly give him a head shake, telling him not to say anything. Then you continue to act dumb, playing with your hair like it has nothing to do with you.
"I'm going to come clean," someone says.
All heads are turned to see that it's coming from Jeff and they all seem to see this one coming.
"It was me who initiated it, we had a moment—"
Jeff's explanation gets cut off as Lili interrupts and asks, "Who's we?"
Jeff licks his lips and slowly turns his head toward you, and then you see his eyes flick toward Issa, "Issa and I," he answers.
Issa gets flustered, smiling that everyone now knows who Jeff got it on with. Not that it's a secret but she looks smitten, they're showing a big potential to become an established couple in this retreat.
"This kiss has cost the group $3,000," Lana announces.
It's like taking a shot, hearing how much money lost to a kiss is that bitter aftertaste. But that's not the worst of it yet, you know that the rule breaks don't stop there.
"They were not the only ones to break the rules."
There you go, you mutter in your head and gulp air that people would start digging deeper to find out whoever cost them another $3,000.
"What? No!" Vale says, scanning everyone to spot any guilty faces.
You continue your dumb act, playing with your hair, brushing it with your fingers even though it's looking good. Your luck runs out as Tom notices the error in your behavior.
"You're good? It wasn't you, right?" Tom asks.
It would be nice if he just shot you with a real bullet and you would have died on the spot, that way you don't have to deal with his question anymore.
You put on a calm face, staying quiet and not intending to say anything. You notice Elliott is looking at you and eventually, people connect the dots together.
"Oh, no, you guys kissed!" Adriana says, being the first to figure it out.
The truth is out, all that is left to do is own up to it.
"I did want to tell you guys but I..." you give up on trying to justify your act.
"I'm sorry," you sincerely say.
Elliott looks at everyone and apologizes as well, "We are sorry. We really are," he earnestly says.
"The kiss has cost the group $3,000."
You cringe at the amount of money you spent for a kiss and even though it's not your money, it's still kind of stings.
"Expensive kiss, that one," Vale comments while scratching his facial hair.
"I think that'll be it," Adriana says, or more like hoping that that was just it, no more rule breaks.
Lana hears her and she doesn't intend to stop until everyone committed their crimes.
"That is not all," she says, "There was one more breach of the rules."
Your eyes dart toward Devon and Blake who sit next to each other at the end of the long sofa, it must be the one kiss she bragged to you about.
"Are you kidding me?" Tom reacts with a fed-up tone.
Devon looks at Blake but he seems to want to keep his mouth shut. You're not a lip reader but it's not hard to read what Devon said as she fixes her dress, "Shit."
The tension keeps building as everyone waits for the last confession Lana needs so she can calculate the damage and come up with the bill.
A moment passes and Devon seems to be uncomfortable keeping it to herself any longer, "We should tell them," she says to Blake.
Everyone is exclaiming and yelling at them all at once while Blake is sitting there, taking it all in. Once everyone calms down, he coyly admits everything, "We kissed. I'm sorry."
"These rule breaks have cost the group $6,000," Lana announces.
Tom's mouth hung open, "You kissed twice?"
Blake licks his lips and then nods.
"What the—" Vale doesn't even finish his words, he reclines on his sofa instead and looks up.
You know the one kiss they did and that's thanks to Devon's thoughtfulness, but the other one, you wonder when they did that.
"It was yesterday," Devon says.
"And the other one?" Tom asks.
"On the date earlier," Devon answers.
Wait... so Blake went on that date and kissed Devon, then he came back and told you that you're the one he wants. What the fuck?
-
YOU: I am so annoyed right now.
-
And you're not the only one.
Even though she's just a talking robot, you can tell that Lana is not pleased with these rule breaks. You can hear it from the way she informs the current prize money.
"The prize fund now stands at $188,000."
"What's done is done, guys," Blake coyly says, and somehow, that only pisses you more.
"In the first 24 hours, most of you have already broken the rules."
Tom looks at the people sitting on the long sofa, "Do you hear that, guys?"
"You have left me with no choice. From this point forward, all fines will be doubled," Lana delivers shocking news.
Tom's eyes widen like he's seeing his nightmare turn into a reality. He claps his hands together and leans back, "That's just great!"
Everyone is too stunned by the news that no one is saying anything. While you just can't wait to end the day already.
"Goodbye," Lana ends with a grim greeting.
Lana is indeed pissed and she deserved to be. You even pissed at what you did but what pissed you more than losing than losing $12,000 in one night is Blake.
Fucking Blake won't get away with it.
-
YOU: So Blake is that kind of player... oh, how typical! How boring! [Rolls eyes]
-
The boys are grouping on the terrace instead of going inside to get ready for bedtime so you follow the girls to the dressing room and it’s just perfect.
Telling Devon about what you know face to face, you doubt that she’ll believe you for it, she’d likely think that you’re trying to ruin things for her. This way, with the girls gathered together, you know they’ll support you and see the true intention behind it.
You need to pick your time right, you don’t want to interrupt in the middle of them complaining about the rules and the money, especially when you’re responsible for the $3,000 deduction.
“I mean… I’m trying to be respectful to Lana but some men are worth it,” Devin says while undoing her hair bun.
She pauses to correct her statement, “Not all, but some,” she emphasizes.
The other girls are busy wiping their makeup clean and half-heartedly listening to what Devon is saying and only reacting with short answers.
“Blake and I, we might be able to build something genuine,” Devon says.
Hearing that gets your blood boiling and you can’t keep biting your tongue, you let out a sigh and look at Devon, “You know what, Devon?”
Suddenly, everyone stops everything they’re doing and they probably know that there’s this slight hostility between you and Devon, you wouldn’t be surprised if they think you’re going to fight her.
Now that you have everyone’s attention, you start telling everyone what you know is true. You take a shallow breath before talking, “After he came back from that date, he went to the bedroom and I happened to be there. I asked him about the date and he was like wish we did talk more, get to know each other more”.”
Lili lets her hair fall and gasps, “No!”
You keep going while constantly reminding yourself to keep calm, “And he held my hand telling me I’m the one he wants right after he came back from the date,” you tell Devon right at her face.
There’s no joy in telling her that she got played, you feel bad for her because you know how shitty that feels.
“That’s muggy,” Issa comments.
“I think he’s trying to have his cake and eat it too,” Adriana says, gripping the hairbrush in her hand.
You look at Devon and she’s in utter shock, you hate to ruin her picture-perfect of what she and Blake could be, but you need her to know and what she’s going to do with the truth is up to her.
“And I’m saying this, as woman to woman, I don’t want you to be that girl who falls for his bullshit,” You conclude.
It turns quiet in the room and everyone seems to give Devon the space to process this, they continue what they’re doing and doing it quietly.
After a moment, Lili tells Devon, “Maybe you should explore other options.”
Devon leans on the table and says, “I think I will.”
-
YOU: Oh, Blake, just know that you fucked it up and you deserve everything that comes to you.
-
“The fuck?” Vale blurts out.
Vale is that one person you feel like you can come and talk about everything with, out of everyone, you trust him the most. You come to his bed to tell him everything about what’s going down between you, Devon, and Blake.
He quickly lowers his voice since Blake is lying on his bed, “And what did Devon say?”
You shrug, “I don’t know.”
“If she’s smart then she knows better not to…” his words trail off as he puts his hands behind his head as he rests his back against the headboard.
“That’s right,” you agree, kicking your feet in the air as you lay on your stomach.
He plays with his beard as he looks at you, “Then how about your plan?”
You’re so busy being upset about the Blake situation that you don’t think about it until he asks you, you realize you are just as single as he is now.
“Oh, fuck,” you blink your eyes in slight shock.
Vale laughs looking at your reaction, he sees the direness in your eyes, “Is there… uh, anyone else that you like?”
You secretly look around the room to look for your second choice but you witness Devon’s dramatic entrance, she turns her head at Blake and cryptically smiles at him before walking past their shared bed.
Everyone feels the tension in the room as Devon goes to Elliott’s bed and gets on it, witnessing the drama unfolding in real time.
You slowly turn your head back to Vale and say, “Well, there goes my second choice.”
-
YOU: Why did she have to take Elliott too? Ugh!
-
This morning, when you come to the bathroom to shower, you find Tom there, counting the condoms inside the little tray next to the sink.
You burst out laughing at the sight, "Having a busy morning I see," you playfully say.
Tom briefly looks at you and puts the condoms back into the tray, "There are eight of them and it's got to stay at eight," he says.
Tom couldn't possibly think that not using condoms doesn't mean that everyone is not rulebreaking. But you have to admit that he's dedicated to his role as the sex officer in the villa.
In the afternoon, you join Adriana sunbathing in the firepit, sharing the sofa.
"I can't believe that I'm about to say this..." you sigh while looking up at the sky with your eyes closed.
Adriana puts her hands on her sides, also looking up with eyes closed, "What?"
"I miss sex so much," you sigh.
Adriana softly sighs then a while later says, "Same."
You gently elbow her side, "At least, you have a man on your bed," you say.
"Yes but he doesn't want to do anything," she grumbles, reminding you that his partner is Lana's top student.
Being single means you have nothing to do with the situation, you want to rule break but have no one to do it with. Meanwhile having a man and not wanting to do anything, is much, much worse.
"Like I need something to happen!" Adriana says with an annoyed sigh.
You suddenly feel bad for Adriana but you also can't help yourself from laughing and she eventually laughs along with you.
When the day gets too hot for a sunbathe, you decide that it's time to cool down. Slowly, you get into the pool and sit on the edge, facing the view of the sea with the blue sky looking like something you see on a postcard.
Someone is swimming and apparently, whoever that is coming your way. You wait until he emerges from the water and sees Blake.
What a way to ruin your good day!
Blake brushes his dark hair to the back and wipes the beads of water around his eyes, he smiles as he fixes his eyes on you, then stands next to you.
"What are you up to?"
You remind yourself that you're a grown woman who can handle someone like him gracefully even though he doesn't deserve it.
"Just admiring the beautiful view," you calmly answer.
He looks at the view and sighs, "Yeah, it's beautiful just like you."
You feel like gagging but resist the urge to, "Thank you," you say with a thin smile.
There are two reasons why Blake is talking to you right now. One is the possibility that Devon confronted him about last night's situation and told him that she heard everything from you. If reason one is true then it's reason number two, he's going for his second option and unfortunately, it's you.
"I think it's about time we have this conversation. I want to see where's your head at," he says.
It's not the words, it's the way he casually talks to you and completely ignores the fact that he played you and Devon.
But remember, gracefully.
"To be honest, I did think you're the hottest person in here when I first glanced at you and I feel this sexual energy whenever you're looking into my eyes," you say.
Blake is grinning as he looks at you, liking what you're saying about him, "I'm open to see where this takes us," he says.
It seems like Devon dumped him and it's reason number two after all.
You shyly smile and say, "I do like you."
You tip your head to the side and continue talking, "But I want to know that I'm forming a connection here and not because I'm available by default."
The glints in his eyes dim as if someone flips the switch off the second he hears what you said.
"I see the other couples and they have this sort of trust in each other. It makes me want to trust the person I'm with," you lay it out as gently as possible.
Because how can you trust him after what he did? Even if you give him the chance, you're not sure that Blake is capable of change.
"For now, I want to be a bit more free, and figure out what I want while also getting to know everyone," you conclude, rejecting him in the nicest way possible.
Blake takes a moment to process your answer and you give him just the space. A while later, he nods and wipes the beads of water on his chin.
"I guess, it is what it is," he coyly says.
You see, this is not the first time you're facing a player like him. In the past, you gave that person a chance thinking that you could change him but it only ended up hurting you and you surely don't want to go through that again.
-
YOU: I think it's about time I get a little bit more careful in choosing people that I want to be with.
-
Days have passed and you can see that couples start forming in the villa.
Jeff has been going strong with Issa ever since that first rule break. Tom, despite being Lana's loyal follower, is having something going on with Adriana. Last but not least, Devon is smitten by Elliott, it's proven by two rule breaks they admitted last night.
And you, you'd better off alone than having to be with Blake. He was hot until he showed his true colors.
"I thought I was going to be the first to rule break," Vale says as you apply sunblock on his back.
"I didn't think that I would be the one missing all the actions," he continues with a crisp laugh.
You add more sunblock for his lower back and lather in on his tattooed skin. You're dry-humping his back once you're done applying sunblock.
"You are getting some actions right now," you jokingly say.
You both laugh and that's how you survive these past few days. Vale has been a very reliable friend, he's trustworthy and earnest, you talk about everything with him because he likes having these kinds of deep talk.
"You know what we need?" You ask Vale then sip your water.
Vale ties his long hair into a messy bun, "What?"
"We need new meat in the villa," you say, pushing the sunglasses you wear up the bridge of your nose.
Vale nods in agreement, then his hand reaches for the cone sitting on the small round table next to him.
"Lana, I know you'll be my main girl but we need new meat in the villa," he pleads while seductively stroking her cone-shaped body.
"I think that should be considered as a rule break," you joke.
Ask and you shall receive, Lana says.
She makes everyone come to the cabana in the afternoon and you share the sofa with Issa, waiting for the cone to chime in anticipation.
"Hello, everyone," Lana greets.
"Hi, Lana!"
You feel at ease knowing that she wouldn't call you out for rulebreaking but you're ready for some drama today.
"I have observed some early signs that connections may be starting to form. Therefore, I am sending two people on a romantic date," Lana announces.
She's going to send the couples on a date? And what about you? Is it really Lana when she delivers good news?
"I'm hoping it's us," Issa says to Jeff.
Everyone is already hyped for the date when Lana is not done talking yet.
"So that I can put your current connections to the test, these dates will be with two new arrivals."
Now that's the Lana you know. You look at the couples and their expressions change into panic ones.
"Did she say new arrivals?" Adriana asks with her eyes almost popping out of her sockets.
-
YOU: Damn! Lana woke up and chose to fuck shit up.
-
"I have allowed the new dates to choose who they would like to take on a date."
It's kind of unfair that the new guests are only allowed to choose from the coupled-up guests but Lana is brewing some drama in the villa and you're here for it.
"They're coming in hot and heavy, ready to fuck everybody," you comment, provoking the nervous couples.
From the other end of the sofa, Vale is holding in his laughter, he knows what you're doing to the others.
"The first new arrival is... Seungmin."
"I like the name," Lili says.
Everyone tries to guess what he'd look like from just his name but you notice that Tom is looking so nervous, realizing that Adriana could get chosen for the date.
"Seungmin has chosen... Adriana."
It seems like what Tom fears the most has just become reality. Tom and Adriana exchange a look that only they know what they mean.
Lana continues with the announcement of the second guest, "The second new arrival is... Cara."
You can't pass the chance to provoke them more, "Cara sounds like she's ready to get wild," you innocently mutter.
Now it's the girls' turn to get nervous, you see that Devon is looking displeased, maybe it's the previous incident haunting her.
"Cara has chosen... Elliott."
It really is not a good day to be either Tom or Devon, their luck will eventually run out but they didn't know that it'd be today.
"Adriana and Elliott, It's time for you to get ready for your dates," Lana orders.
They leave the cabana to get ready for their dates with the new arrivals and you envy them, you want to go on a date too.
Jealousy aside, you're excited for the new guests, especially this Seungmin guy.
-
YOU: Girl, I can't wait to see how the night turns out!
-
It's embarrassing that everyone in the dressing room witnessed you tripping over your heeled shoes and falling on your butt.
Lili is too late to catch you, she offers her hand to help you get up but you lie down on the floor instead, laughing in embarrassment.
"Are you drunk?" Tom jokingly asks.
You shake your head and sigh, "No, I'm just so horny," you joke back.
The boys and the girls are going their separate ways. You follow the flow, walking to the firepit with the other girls and sitting prettily on the sofa, waiting for the ones going on dates to return.
The one who has been losing her sanity the longer her man going on the date is Devon. She's been rambling and grumbling like a fussy child.
"If he did something, I'll know right away," Devon mutters.
You don't know who she's talking to but since you're sitting close to her, you feel obliged to respond to it.
"Yep," you say, validating her.
Devon shouldn't be scared whether anyone knows because Lana will know and she knows everything.
The first one coming back from their date is Adriana and the new guest, Seungmin, linking their arms together as they enter the firepit.
"Oh, here they come," Lili tells everyone of their arrival.
All of the girls' heads are turned to see them.
Your curiosity about this Seungmin guy is finally answered. Tall, with broad shoulders, his dark hair is pushed to the back with a few strands hanging over his forehead and the faint moonlight casts a shadow over his face, defining his masculine features of sharp jaws and high cheekbones.
And when he smiles, you see those facial features turn soft all at once.
-
YOU: Oh, my God! This guy, Seungmin, is cute [Smiles]
-
"If Elliott walks in holding their arms like that, I'm going to cry," Devon sadly mutters.
You're about to say something to comfort her but Lili goes ahead, asking Adriana and Seungmin about the date.
"How was it? How was the date?"
Adriana briefly looks at him and answers it for both of them, "It was nice, romantic even."
"Oh?" You blurt out, sensing that Adriana may switch beds tonight.
"Lana gave him a free pass to kiss but we didn't, I told him about Tom," Adriana says.
Adriana and Tom have been with each other since day one, they're a couple with great restraint so you're glad that Adriana is not tempted to explore more options.
Meanwhile, Devon is starting to look a little green after hearing that the new arrivals are given a free pass to kiss during their dates.
Issa spots the other has returned from the date and blurts out, "Oh, no they hold hands."
Devon's head snaps to the back, looking at where the boys are gathered on the terrace.
She turns her head back and her mouth curls downward. You immediately scoot closer to offer your shoulder, rubbing her back as she starts crying.
You turn your head to see Elliott introducing the new girl to the boys and he's looking all bright and smiley.
"Not going to lie, that's kind of sus," you say.
You didn't even mean to put salt on Devon's wound, you just don't expect Elliott to be that kind of guy, you know, the Blake kind.
Everyone eventually gathers in the firepit and Elliott proceeds with his duty to introduce the new girl to everyone.
Cara is Italian and your eyes dart toward Vale, that this girl can be his type. In response to that, Vale is eyeing Seungmin, hinting that you have one for you too.
This eventful night turns out to be a good one.
Adriana and Tom are still sharing the bed and thankfully, so are Devon and Elliott. You're relieved that Elliott turns out to be not the kind of guy.
The new guests have to voluntarily sleep on the available spots, Cara shares the bed with Blake while Seungmin shares the bed with Vale.
You're meant to look at Vale but Seungmin happens to be there and since he catches your eyes, you may as well smile and flirt with your eyes.
You don't know what you feel about him yet but you hope that he's not the Blake kind.
-
YOU: Not everyone forgetting that new guests also mean new temptations [laughs]
-
"No one is breaking the rules, right?" Tom says the moment the lights are on.
Everyone is not having it but no one is saying anything as they're sleepy and struggling to open their eyes. You quickly sip water to refresh yourself and not skipping the chance to take a jab a Tom.
"The next rule break is going to be Adriana's self-gratification," you say with a grin.
Adriana lets out a dry chuckle and holds all of her hair to the side, "Might be. Don't leave me alone in a room," she says.
Lana chimes in for the usual morning greeting, welcoming the new guests, and ends it with a satirical message.
"Enjoy your day of celibacy!"
Since the boys are taking over the open gym at the beach, you skip working out and go for a swim with Lili. You take a few laps and have a chat with her.
In the cabana, you see that Devon is talking to the new girl, Cara.
"Should we get in there and intervene?" Lili asks.
"No," you immediately answer.
You blow water out of your nose and wipe it away, "But get ready, just in case."
In the other part of the villa, you spot the new guy, Seungmin heading down to the beach in a plain white t-shirt and black swimming trunks.
"Cute guy. 11 o'clock," you lowly mutter.
Lili clocks him right away, she's lowering her head until her chin dips in the water.
"You think he's cute?"
"Duh!" You react with a dramatic eye roll.
Lili chuckles and stacks her hands on the edge of the pool, "Is he your type though?"
Seungmin is indeed cute but truthfully, he's not the type that you usually go for, someone with a bit of an edge to them. You feel some sort of attraction toward him but it's not enough to pull you in.
"On papers? No," you honestly answer.
"Have you talked to him?"
"Not yet," you reply.
You look at Lili and wonder why she asks you all of that when she should be calculating her chance with him.
"Are you going to talk to him?" You ask her back.
Lili purses her mouth as she thinks of an answer, "Maybe. I will," she answers.
There's not much thing happens during the day and somehow, you feel excited for the night.
You put on a black dress, a red lipstick, and before you go out of the door, you take a look at yourself in the mirror, you look ravishing.
It's kind of sad though that you did all that only to sit by the firepit all alone and it's messing a little with your good mood.
It would be perfect for anyone to come and save your day but what do you—
"Hi, how are you?"
You look up and see Seungmin, he looks taller as he's standing over you, "Hi, I'm good."
"May I sit?" He politely asks.
"Please," you scoot a little to the side to make space for him even though the sofa could fit five people.
Seungmin sits next to you, spreading his legs open a little, and rests his hand on his knee. You notice that he has quite big pairs of hands and evident veins on the back of them.
"I came here wanting to talk to you, get to know you," he casually says as if he didn't just tell you right away what his true intentions are.
But you dig that, you like his confidence and the way he's looking at you right now like you're the only girl existing on earth.
"Tell me something about yourself," he says.
"I didn't know I was interviewing for a job," you joke with a laugh.
He laughs and it's the quiet kind, but you see that he's enjoying your joke.
"I'm a videographer," you tell him a piece about yourself.
"Is it the same as a filmmaker?" He curiously asks.
"Not really. Videographers film their own material, we work with cameras, shoot them ourselves, and edit them. It's uh... a lot to explain," you stop yourself before it gets too boring.
"It's not just beauty on the outside, huh?" He coyly says as if he didn't just compliment you and make you flustered.
"Of course not," you cheekily say with a grin.
"Yeah, I noticed," he agrees.
Your cheeks are heating and your body somehow turns to face him, answering his body language all the while his eyes are not straying away from yours, not even for a second.
"How about you?" You ask, trying to keep the conversation going.
"I'm an athlete. A baseball player," he answers.
"Oh, wow!" You didn't mean to make it sound that surprised.
Oh, it's even more embarrassing than the time you fell in the dressing room. You keep yourself together and quickly say something to explain your reaction.
"That explains the uh... broad shoulders," you say.
Your eyes unknowingly flick down at his hand again and your mouth gets ahead of your brain, "And the veiny hands."
Seungmin softly chuckles, he holds his hands out at you and lets you look at them as you please.
"You like them?"
You shyly laugh and skip on answering, barely functioning as his eyes are gazing into yours again.
-
YOU: He has this beautiful smile. He has these beautiful eyes, I am being swept away by his charm [Smiles]
-
Seungmin doesn't have eyes like Elliott's, they're brown yet they have the power to slowly pull you under.
You were so wrong to think that there's not enough attraction to pull you in because Seungmin is not only pulling you in, he asks you to come drown in his warm brown eyes.
Other than that, his eyes have the power to make you say your thoughts out loud.
"You have such beautiful eyes," you say, unconsciously leaning closer to look into his eyes.
"Oh, they're dilating," you gasp, seeing the black in the middle of the brown becomes larger.
Seungmin softly smiles hearing your innocent, almost too naive talks.
"You know your pupils dilate when you see someone you're attracted to," he says.
"Really?"
He nods with the scintillating smile still on his face.
"Does that mean you're attracted to me?" You ask with a mix of shy and seductive smiles.
"Yes, I am, I'm attracted," he confidently confirms.
You finally find the kind of guy Seungmin belongs in. Seungmin is the kind of guy that should come with a warning sign, he looks cute and harmless but a layer is under that, he's a lethal man who knows what he wants and gets it.
"I want to get to know you," he says.
"Me too," you say back.
"I want to get to know you more because I see that you have more beautiful things inside you," he adds.
Not going to lie, that's the sweetest thing you ever heard a guy say to you in a long time. You don't want to overanalyze it, you want to simply accept them as they are. Also, you can see that Seungmin meant every word he said.
"Would you let me?" He asks, tilting his head to the side as he maintains eye contact with you.
"Yes. I'd love that," you tell him.
The smile on Seungmin's face grows wider and it looks incredibly cute on him like he couldn't get cuter than this. His hand reaches for yours and holds it by the fingers.
"How do you feel about sharing a bed?"
No offense to Lili but you've been craving having a man on your bed so you nod at him.
The stare gets intense as he gets closer, leaving a few inches of space between your faces.
"Then how do you feel about sharing a kiss?"
The more you look into his eyes, the more compliant you are to his wishes. It's not like you don't want to kiss him, only that you wish you could do more than kisses.
But a kiss... it should be enough for now.
"I'd love that too," you answer.
Seungmin puts his hand under your chin, gently grabbing at it to bring you closer to him and slowly, he plants his lips on you.
No, it's not because you haven't kissed in the last few days, it's him, Seungmin got you completely charmed that you find yourself returning his kiss with the same eagerness.
"Oh, my God!" You gasp in awe once you break the kiss.
Seungmin is only smiling in response, he knows that you feel it too. The matching energy, the surge of excitement, the sexual tension, the electrifying chemistry, you both feel them all.
"I got your lipsticks all over me, aren't I?" He asks.
"Yes," you hurriedly help him wipe it off clean from around his mouth and nose.
And just like that, you broke another rule only this time you're not doing it out of boredom or avenging someone.
You broke the rules with Seungmin because he feels right.
-
YOU: Oh, we were just so in the moment that we forgot about the rules. Was it worth it though? Yes. Six thousand times yes.

kiss your best friend | ignihyde
kiss your best friend and see how they react!
parts. one , two , three , four , five , six , seven
characters. idia, ortho
content. gender neutral reader as usual, platonic for the bby, wingman ortho at it again, forgot about this ngl
note. sorry guys idia's part was messy but I mean, I'm just portraying his chaotic feelings ig. I SWEAR ORTHO'S PART MAKES UP FOR IT SINCE HES THE CALMER ONE
damn part six finally hear after almost a year (I'm so sorry help)
idia
is having the fastest inner monolog you will ever hear in your life, if it was being read out loud that is. could be nominated as rapper of the year with how fast he's blurting out thoughts in his mind.
also probably vocals of the year too with how high pitched, and small in range it is. what a versatile king 🔥
'anywaysitooklike10yearstryingtofindthisitemcausetheysaidtheysawitbutohmygodwhatinthethreehellsishappeningOMGaretheykissingmechatamidreamingOMGimnot??WHAT WARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA'
to make your life easier 'anyways it took like ten years trying to find this item cause they said they saw it but oh my god what in the three hells is happening OMG are they kissing me chat am I dreaming OMG I'm not??? WHAT *incoherent screeching.'
probably has never kissed anyone besides his body pillows which is just one sided making out so completely forgets his 'lessons on teaching himself how to kiss' and freezes up. comically gets goosebumps and remains frozen even after you pull away.
then starts turning red from feet to head??
he has so many questions that he in fact, does NOT want to ask cause even if it cost his life he can't question you if you guys are dating now cause YOU JUST KISSED HIM SO THAT MEANS YOU BOTH UPGRADE LEVELS.
wait he can't call it friendship level. clearly you're both past level 10 now right?? INTIMACY LEVEL???? HE DOESNT KNOW HES PANICKING.
is too awkward to ask and acts even more awkward as the time is more prolong during the time he's just left wondering what the hell you guys are now cause he's too pussy to do anything without confirmation that you're both duos for life now.
ortho
is the one idia rants to about his predicament right after you part ways.
like, idia doesn't even try to call or contact ortho through the means of technology even if it meant getting to talk faster. he's BOLTING to the dorm with his unathletic ass (with breaks in between.) because the tea he was going to spill was that good.
listens intently and goes :O when idia finally mentions the part where you randomly kiss him out of the blue, by the way only getting to the point after idia spills.. umm.. the wrong thing to be honest, literally retold the whole day until that point.
yeahhhh.. he has the energy atleast.
idia is probably telling ortho about how it meant nothing even though you literally outright kissed him, to the cheek, mouth, or something and he's still gonna say it didn't mean anything.
ortho gotta be the one telling idia to make the move cause no idiot would mistake that for nothing (except idia apparently but he'll have everyone know that his brother is a tech genius!!)
they both do one of those scenes in movies where P1 - idia, is talking to you in real life with an earpiece, and P2 - ortho is said person behind the earpiece. basically the one telling idia what he should do because that guy is too lost for his own good.
"brother move closer!"
"... isn't this too close already though--" <- embarrassed and regretting everything
in the end he did manage to get a label on the two of you, no thanks to HIM and all the thanks to ortho <3
note. ortho's part just ended up as an extension of idia's part but I always love to include him in everything :') just some behind the scenes on how idia actually got a relationship (ITS ALL ORTHO)
not pr, who prs anyways cries

No Translation Needed | h. h.
➸ synopsis: when the language barrier between you and a stranger becomes too wide, your shared interests bridge the gap for you.
➸ starring: hwang hyunjin x female reader
➸ word count: 2.7k
➸ general content: artist!hyunjin, there is somewhat of a language barrier, both people are complete art nerds and it's way too endearing, takes place in south korea, flufffff(I'm so fond of this man)
➸ warnings: microscopic mention of alcohol
➸ rating: teen+
➸ author’s note: an older fic but I'm still so attached to it. two kinds of people: the type who hear hyunjin speak english and move on, and then me
♫ this fic has a soundtrack! you don’t need to listen to it while reading, but rêverie by the man, the myth, the legend, claude debussy goes SO HARD ON THIS FIC LIKE-
You were never the type to dabble in realism.
A pair of headphones, a wide brush, a blank canvas, and a bucket of red paint; that was your activity of choice on friday nights. Nothing that came from that ever resembled anything in particular, but it was never supposed to. Just looking at it, one could tell what emotions fueled the creative process those nights.
The feelings behind them were real enough, you'd hear people say.
But of course, there's always some people that detest abstract art. They say it takes no talent, no thought, that you're just slathering paint on a canvas and expecting to get recognition for it. Sometimes you think they're right.
Other times you buy a plane ticket out of the country, you know, for fun. If you were a starving artist, maybe you'd think about letting their words get to you.
And while some would argue that booking a spontaneous vacation to Seoul could classify as a form of escapism, the painting in front of you has you wondering whether you could mark this trip in your tax forms as a business expense.
All of your years in art school and not once had you ever learned so much from one piece of canvas.
Art museums are designed to look boring. They are supposed to draw your eye from one acrylic-covered canvas to another, making you forget about your surroundings and immerse you into the various artworks. This one was no different, hues of beige and black and white littering the geometric space.
That being said, you are certain that this painting would have caught your eye even if it was posted in Times Square.
You had made your way across the room, ears picking up on the few Korean phrases you knew as strangers shifted around you. A graphite cityscape. A gouache vase of flowers. A portrait made of ink prints on wood. The exhibit you randomly picked over tonkatsu and soju last night in your hotel room was definitely a good one, no doubt.
And to think you almost walked past this piece.
Bold strokes of blue, tiny specks of white, all on a frame that was wider than your wingspan.
The girl was depicted just off center, in some billowy white dress.
Floating? Drowning?
You settle on suspended as your footsteps slow down, turning to approach the watery scene.
Staring at it feels like staring at a glass of water. You can't definitively say whether it’s half-empty or half-full, whether she’s reaching for the surface or letting herself sink. Her face is covered by wispy brown hair, obstructing her true emotions from view. Somehow you know this was a conscious decision the artist made, to let the viewer come to their own conclusion on the piece.
Even though you know about the negative effects that human oils have on artworks, you still find yourself fighting the urge to reach out and touch it. To feel the ripples of the oil paint and somehow find your own hand soaked, as if you reached through the canvas barrier and felt the cold loneliness yourself.
Impressionist paintings did always have this charm about them, at least to you. They felt abstract upon inspection, just a mess of strange brushstrokes and controversial colors. And yet when viewed from a distance, it feels like a completely different experience. Up close, a dizzying mix of the shades of the sky. A step back, and it's an unspoken thesis on the solitude of limbo, or whatever you've decided to name this piece.
You glance at the info card at the bottom right corner.
Buoyancy- Hwang Hyunjin
You make a mental note to research him later before your eyes get pulled to the subject once again.
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧
You have been staring at his painting for eight minutes.
He had walked around, chatted with other featured artists, talked with a few strangers, but when he came back, you had acted as though you were one of the items on display; still locked in the same position as before. Eyebrows furrowed, one hand resting on your canvas tote bag, the other in the pocket of your trousers.
In the nicest way possible, you looked like a tourist.
But tourists don't have long attention spans, and you could have been roleplaying a statue with how long you'd been standing there.
A strange mix of anxiety and excitement rushed through Hyunjin when he found you still standing there.
No one had ever observed his art for that long before.
At least, not in one sitting. Definitely not like this. Why haven't you moved on? Can you see something that he can't? Are you thinking of buying a print?
He wants to approach you. To leave you alone. To watch you scrutinize his painting. To run screaming to the event coordinator.
Casually, he sticks both hands in his jeans and stands a few feet from your right side, as if he's one of the visitors.
He takes a moment, gaining whatever’s left of his composure before speaking.
“I'm so glad I know how to swim.”
You snap out of your daze, surprised to hear English in the Korean white noise you've been immersed in. You look over and see the gorgeous young man standing near you, looking at the painting you've been so engrossed in.
“Yeah,” you exhale, “I totally get the fear of open water.”
Hyunjin chuckles, strangely drawn in by the sound of your voice.
“Although, she doesn't seem all that scared to me,” you add, shifting your focus back to the canvas.
“You don't think so?”
“I mean, you could argue that she doesn't want to be there, that she's drowning,” you begin, pointing to the girl. “But…the longer I stare at it, the more I feel like she's just hanging there, not reaching for the surface on purpose.” Your finger trails down to the bottom right corner. “I think that's why it was named Buoyancy, at least that's what I got out of it…”
You trail off, realizing that you're rambling to a total stranger about a random piece of artwork. Looking back at him however, you find your face heating up at the amazed expression on his, as if you had just told him his middle name.
“I wish I had thought of that,” he lies. It was almost scary how quickly you had found the meaning he'd tried to convey after months of fighting with the paint.
“Well that's the fun thing about art,” you say, smiling to yourself. “It's all subjective. What were you thinking?”
Hyunjin opens his mouth to speak, then closes it again in mild frustration.
“I'm not…very good with English,” he says, defeated.
He would argue that he's not very good with any language, even his mother tongue.
Art was the only language he felt he could speak easily without hesitation. It was easy to throw himself into that with reckless abandon, because it was the only place where he truly felt understood.
“But I can still understand you,” he quickly amends, glad to see that spark behind your eyes again. He walks past you, stopping at the painting on your left. “What about this one?”
“This one has some really dramatic lighting, which makes me believe…”
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧
Evening sunlight filters in through the exhibit windows as you and Hyunjin examine an organically-shaped vase, admiring its handiwork.
“I’ve always wanted to try pottery but…I don’t really like the feeling of cold clay on my hands,” you chuckle, looking at the tall man next to you. He grins, scrutinizing his hands as he contemplates his answer.
“People tell me I have good fingers- for clay,” he adds quickly, even though the meaning wasn't lost on you, and you fight back a smirk to appear unphased. “But I haven't found a good studio? Is that how you call it?”
“I wouldn't know, I've never been,” you say, walking to the next painting. Which happens to be where you both started.
“Wait, have we been through this whole gallery?” You quickly check your watch, confirming that you have been there for much longer than you had intended. Looking back at the stranger you have spent the evening with, you feel heat start to scatter across your face.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take up so much of your ti-”
“I liked it,” he blurts, and you feel reassured as his face lights up with panic. “Talking. With you, I mean.” He looks just past you to the art on the wall, ears turning the slightest shade of red. “No one has ever said anything so beautiful about my art before.”
He watches as your face circles through several emotions, before settling on embarrassment.
“You're…you're one of the artists? Which one is yours?” You say, trying to recall what you said about every art piece.
He nods toward the painting that had first caught your attention, the one that practically jumped out at you an hour ago.
“Hyunjin,” he says quietly, extending a hand toward you in a humble introduction, as if that same hand didn't produce the masterpiece in front of you.
“Y/n,” you whisper, trying not to let your mouth hang open in awe. “And to think I was going to Google you later.”
“You were?” The light in his eyes was unmistakable.
“I always research artists that inspire me,” you admit, bashfully dropping his hand.
“I inspired you?”
You meet his eyes and you know then, the weight that your words carry.
To create is a desire that all artists cannot shake; it is what keeps the painter keep coming back to the blank canvas, the sculptor to the slab of clay. But when the process is finished, all they can hope is that someone will see it, and feel a fraction of what they felt whilst creating it.
Moving someone to the point of giving them the desire to create, through their artwork, is a dream many artists never get to see come into fruition.
And maybe that's why Hyunjin stares at you now, wondering which lucky star is shining down on him now.
“Can I…” he pauses, hoping he's saying the line like how they do in the movies, “can I buy you a drink?”
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧
When people say studio apartment, this is what you wish they mean.
Floor-to-ceiling window walls on one side, where several canvases sit propped up against the city skyline, and an apartment on the other, with a cute kitchenette and loft bedroom that doesn't feel cramped. It's perfect for someone who needs enough space to think, without sacrificing their space to live.
You hear Hyunjin click the door shut behind you as you set your bag down on a chair, surveying the studio side of his residence.
Several canvases catch your eye.
You can't even blame him for attempting to paint it because with the view he has, you'd paint it every day.
Different versions of the Seoul skyline are scattered across the room, each depicting a different time of day. Sunrise is leaning against the window. Midday is sitting on a canvas. Twilight is hanging up on the wall, and something akin to golden hour lays unfinished, perhaps even abandoned on the floor. You crouch in front of it to get a better look.
“That one is…not finished,” Hyunjin says from the kitchen, pouring two glasses of soju. You can feel his nervous gaze on you even with your back turned to him.
“It's beautiful,” you whisper, looking at the palette he used to mix the colors. An array of browns and yellows are smeared on the glass, which were no doubt used to put the buildings into the scene.
He doesn't say thank you; his face does that for him when he crouches next to you, cheekbones pink as he sets the soju glasses on the floor.
“I can't get the colors right,” he sighs, staring at the painting in discontent. “It looks…dull.”
“Maybe you should try adding red instead of brown,” you suggest, picking up a palette knife. “May I?”
Hyunjin stares at you in bewilderment, before opening a tube of vermillion and squeezing a bit onto the palette.
“I studied color theory for what felt like forever,” you chuckle, taking the knife and adding red to a few of his previous colors.
“I never went to art school,” he says, as if that makes him a lesser artist. You feel a twinge of jealousy at that statement, knowing that the man next to you was this skilled without coaching, before adding, “You didn't miss much. It killed my creativity.”
Hyunjin goes pale at that as you pass him a clean paintbrush and toss the palette knife aside.
“Did you get it back?” He asks, and when you tilt your head, he adds, “Your creativity?”
“It comes and goes.” Sometimes you wish you didn't stake your livelihood on your ability to create. Inspiration is always a welcome guest but it never stays for long, at least on your side of the ocean.
Watching him add your hues to the painting is like having inspiration fed right into your bloodstream. Immediately the painting comes to life, the reds of the sunset becoming visible at the whim of his paintbrush.
He stops for a minute to admire the changes, and turns to you for feedback, eyes twinkling with joy. Or maybe that's just the soju.
“It was beautiful before,” you say, tracing your finger along the side of the canvas, “but now it looks alive.”
“I love the way you talk,” Hyunjin says quietly after a moment of silence, and the bluntness of the compliment nearly has you choking on your soju. But he just looks at you, no hint of humor in his eyes, sitting entirely too close to your tipsy self, and you feel your body buzz with warmth.
“And I love the way you smile,” you whisper back, unable to look away as he sets down his paintbrush, trying to hide his contagious grin.
He turns back to you, and you wish for several things. You wish you didn't have a plane ticket taking you away from this place in a week. You wish that you had finished your glass of soju. You wish you could poke the mole under his eye, or the dimple in his cheek.
You wish that you were drunk enough to close the gap between you two without a second thought.
But when your foreheads touch, your phone buzzes, so you grin and chuckle to yourself.
“I…I think we've had too much to drink.”
He looks at you through hooded eyes and smiles again.
“Or not enough.” He counters.
You nod in agreement at that and pull back, mentally kicking yourself for losing the only chance at finding out what his smile tastes like. But it's probably better this way. You don't want to be remembered as the girl who sweet talked her way into his bed.
You're halfway to the sink with your glasses when he speaks up suddenly.
“I want to see you again.”
You set the dishes down before turning to face him, and you wish you had brought a change of clothes. And maybe an extra toothbrush.
“I don't want to finish it without you,” he says, nodding to the painting that he had moved to the easel.
“I can come back tomorrow morning,” you promise, trying not to sound too hopeful.
“I can make crepes.”
“I love crepes.”
He picks up your bag from the chair and brings it to you, hating how much it feels like he's rushing you out the door.
“See you tomorrow, y/n.”
“Goodnight, Hyunjin.”
You leave the apartment and close the door behind you, but your feet don't advance down the hallway. Hyunjin's hand hovers over the locking mechanism, unable to click the deadbolt into place as he considers running after you.
Before you can talk yourself out of it, you spin around to knock on his door, only to find him throwing the door open and grinning in delight at the sight of you.
“It's past midnight, isn't it?”
His smile tastes like mint and chamomile tea.

rin's side stories: 01 - where rafayel debriefs the flammula
wc: 1.2k rating: G brief: after rafayel's first meeting with mc, he decides to debrief someone he can trust. someone who can't spill his secrets to anyone who can repeat them to mc. notes: gender neutral!mc, fluff, comedy, canon-compliant
“I was rather suave, wasn’t I?”
Silence answers him. The man doesn’t seem deterred—he flips over on his couch, back lying flat on the sofa as one leg crooks at the knee and dangles off the edge.
“See, you might not have gotten a good view of the scene, but I appeared like a knight in shining armor, okay? Exactly like all those fairytales. Picture this, the setting sun, a golden glow sinking over the city like a blanket. The light dancing off the water surface, making everything look iridescent and magical. The soft splashes of you guys, adding to the ambience of the place. It’s quiet. It’s picturesque. Am I painting a good picture for you?”
The red flammula circles around its massive tank. The tank is perched on the reinforced glass table, large enough that it practically takes up all the space. There are small underwater plants swaying with the ripples sent up by the portable water filter attached to the side of the tank. Sand and gravel sit at the bottom, with a few coral stones tossed in to add color to the place.
Inside, the flammula spits out a string of bubbles.
“You don’t get it. So there they were, helpless and shaking, like a seal pup in front of a great white. The setting sun set their hair alight, awash with that orange hue—I really need to paint this before I forget it—and they were just standing there. Their eyes darted around, begging for help, and there I was! Right in their line of sight; tall, handsome, elegant. Offering a comment about your tragic lifespans on land so they know I’m intelligent.”
The flammula hides behind a particularly big rock. On the couch, the figure splutters, sitting upright.
“Dropping an information snippet about the lifespan of aquatic creatures is not boring. It caught their attention. And then I took the net from their loose grip, emboldened by the hopeful gaze in their eyes, and swooped you up in one quick snap of my wrist. Really, you need to be better at running away from nets in the water. Is this how you got caught the first time?”
A long string of bubbles. The flammula swims out just to brush its underbelly against the sand before swimming back up to where the plants are swaying with the ripples.
“After catching you, I proceeded to tell her about your historic legend—”
The flammula winds itself around a long, dark green plant. It flops over, the plant wrapped around it, and pretends to go still.
A hand reaches over, one knuckle knocking in irritation at the side of the tank, right next to where the flammula is.
“A little respect would be deserved,” Rafayel huffs, throwing his head to the side. “I didn’t have to save you, you know. I could have let you live up to your exceedingly short lifespan with the rest of your brethren in that tiny pool, at the mercy of small land children with sticky fingers and unwashed hands.”
The flammula revives long enough to flap a fin at Rafayel and breathe out bubbles before it returns to playing dead.
Rafayel rolls his eyes. “Anyway, they then told me that Hat Island was closed off because of Wanderer sightings. Not that it would have stopped me, if I had really wanted to go, but—hey! This means they were concerned about me, weren’t they?”
The flammula doesn’t respond.
“I mean, I picked a random pamphlet out of that booth near the place just so I had something to do with my hands, but what a stroke of luck!”
Rafayel dips a hand in the water, far enough to gently poke the flammula with the tip of his index finger. “Look alive, comrade. I’m not done here.”
The flammula twists its body, slapping Rafayel’s index finger with its tail.
“They didn’t say it just because I’m a civilian and they were doing their job,” Rafayel shoots back, sounding miffed. “Well, whatever. Let’s move past that to the next important installation of our interaction, wherein I, very handsomely, popped you into the small container they were holding on to.”
A flurry of bubbles rise in the tank. The flammula seems to have a lot to say, reviving once more just to swim accusingly around Rafayel’s hand and bump angrily into his open palm.
“You were not going to die from air exposure. I barely held you out for less than a minute. I wasn’t going to just let you die like that. And you are really detracting from my entire experience, here. Regardless, after you were finally allowed to breathe again, they told me to go to Whitesand Bay. How cute,” Rafayel remarks, a smile pulling at his lips.
The flammula scrapes its body against Rafayel’s fingers, nipping at his fingertips.
“This level of aggression is seriously uncalled for,” Rafayel complains, poking the flammula’s tail. “I’m just trying to tell you about our meeting, and you’re acting like I tossed you into the middle of an oil spill. They told me to go visit Whitesand Bay, you know?”
He points outside the windows lining his wall, tempered glass from ceiling to floor, gesturing at the miles of paper white sand that stretch out before him. “How cute. Maybe I should invite them to walk with me at Whitesand Bay sometime.”
The flammula swings its tail, hitting Rafayel’s fingers. Once it gets the last word in, the flammula swims in a harried manner to the stone cave attached to the side of the tank, clearly ready to hide in there until Rafayel stops bothering it.
“You are no fun,” he tells the flammula, fishing his hand out of the water. There’s a brief flash and fire creeps up his skin, starting from his fingertips and crawling up his palms, the back of his hand, his wrist, his forearm—the flames lick at his elbow, and Rafayel shakes his arm out.
Just as quickly as it appeared, the flames disappear. Rafayel slips his dry palm into his pocket and stands, turning to eye the view from his window. The translucent curtains flutter in the seabreeze, carried in through one of the open windows, and Rafayel tilts his head back, slowly breathing it in.
“I’ll pack the rest of them and send them to where they should be,” he says, eyes closed, face turned to soak in the moonlight filtering through the glass. “I’ll send you along with them, I suppose.”
Bubbles escape the stone cave.
“I’m not in the business of raising dependents,” Rafayel comments, looking back to eye the tank speculatively. “If I do keep you around, historic part of Lemurian culture or not, know that I may or may not end up using you as a midnight snack if I’m feeling peckish.”
No response. Another round of playing dead.
“How interesting,” he murmurs, bending down to tap the glass. “Well, if I ever come up with a use for you, I’ll let you know. Maybe I can trick them into thinking we’re co-parenting you. Heaven knows you need to learn some manners, disobedient punk.”
The thought makes Rafayel smile. They wouldn’t get it; they would likely be confused at the concept of teaching a fish manners, but it’s as good an excuse as any to get them into Rafayel’s home.

You're Not My Boyfriend! - Crazy!Soap x Reader Imagine (SFW)
[I just found out that my best friend of 10 years thinks we're dating (even tho he knows I'm married and have only ever referred to him as a friend - albeit my best friend). Idk what mental hoops he had to jump through to get to this point. Instead of dwelling on this interpersonal fact, I'm going to distract myself with a imagine on why Soap would most certainly act with the same kind of crazy.]
The two of you crossed paths for the first time because you're someone who works a support role for the 141 (ie. the medical/technical fields). You're not in the 141, in fact, you rarely see them because you're too busy with your own duties behind the scenes. You know they're important/a big deal because your superiors tell you so, but it's not like you really care. You don't deal with them enough to.
When you finally crossed paths with Soap, you find all of the team a bit brutish. You don't really like talking to them, and if you have to, you keep it curt. Soap is the one who actually tries to chat you up. You still keep up the same behavior because no thanks. He smiles too wide, and he doesn't blink enough. You're 95% sure all of these men are psychopaths.
A few weeks go by, and you completely forget about him. It isn't until flowers and chocolates and teddy bears with your name on it start showing up. The same note is always inside: Can't wait to see you again. Your stomach flips because you haven't been on a date in a couple years. All of your coworkers think you finally have a new significant other. They coo over the gifts and talk behind your back about how someone like you doesn't deserve the effort. You don't have it in yourself to speak up nor would it really matter.
You throw yourself into your work to distract yourself from the gossip. You tear through assignments like it's no one's business. Eventually, your productivity is noticed by Laswell. Unbeknownst to you, she does a background check on you. She finds out you've already been noticed by the 141 and have been receiving gifts from a particular member. She's half tempted to tell you but decides against it. She knows this won't end well either way. Laswell decides to leave you be, but manages to pull some strings to get you a well-deserved promotion.
The gifts stop for a few months but start up again sporadically. Rumors start about how the timing of the gifts matches up with the 141 deployments. Someone on the team has taken a liking to you. You roll your eyes at them, and you don't want to believe them. Those meatheads from the 141? One of them likes you when they've got dozens of other pretty young things working in their peripherals? Ha, likely story. The person actually sending you the gifts is probably the old janitor. After all, chivalry is so dead nowadays.
The gifts keep coming even as you enjoy your new promotion. The notes start to change, but they continue to remain anonymous. You start to accept that your favorite flowers are being sent from a 141 member. You have to see them more often, thanks to your new post. It doesn't take you long to figure out which man has been trying to capture your attention. God, why does it always have to be the creepy ones?
He's too touchy and too insensitive, and he's loud and makes you feel small. You want him to leave every time you have to be in the room with the team. Why couldn't it have been the Captain or the maniac in black? Why does it have to be the Scottish one who won't shut up?
You learn (against your will) that his name is John "Johnny/Soap" MacTavish, he's single and ready to mingle, he loves his mum and his sisters and he thinks you're "bangin" (whatever that means). It's so obvious he's got a crush on you, but you desperately try to play it off. He's a puppy, and all you have to do is wait for him to grow up and realize it's never going to happen.
One night, you decide to head out with your coworkers for drinks. And lo and behold, guess who dragged his whole team out to the same bar? You're understandably pissed off, but you can't bear to tell Soap off in front of everyone. It's probably the biggest mistake of your life.
He physically sweeps you off your feet and refers to you as his "bestest girl". Despite how annoying he is, his good mood seems to run off on everyone...including you. He buys you drinks, and you keep him at a respectable arms length. Despite how much you really don't like him that way, you have to start admitting he's got a weird charm to him.
You make him repeat it back to you. He seems all too happy to agree with you.
Later on in the night, you take him off to the side. You explain to him clearly that the two of you are friends. Only friends. You'll never be more than that. But, he's a good guy, and if he needs someone to talk to, you're down to be friends.
"Yes, Bonnie. We're only friends."
With a sigh, you slap his shoulder and tell him to buy you another drink.
Weeks drag on. The romantic gifts stop, but the gifts keep coming. At first, it's nothing you'd really bat an eye over from a good friend. It's Scottish hot chocolate tablets that he swears you have to try. It's CDs of his favorite bands because your taste in music should be broadened! It's books and bags and stupid little trinkets to personalize your desk.
You can't believe you find yourself humoring him, but you do. After all, it seemed like his crush on you disappeared. You get him weird snacks and make him mixtapes for his longer missions. Always under the guise as a treat from the rest of the staff, you send care packages if you can. Johnny calls you out on it but you feign ignorance. He's your friend. You'd actually hate to know he's slogging around in mud, hungry and alone.
That sounds like pure hell.
"Y' git used to it, Bonnie."
Eventually, he suggests spending time outside of work. He mentions he'd gotten a new gaming console you'd been dying to have yourself. That night, the two of you sit comfortably side by side, trying to kick each other's asses at a video game. When he wims, he leans back and laces his arms beneath his head, grinning and laughing. He looks so proud of himself. A part of you whispers that it's because he'd weaseled his way into your good graces, but you were in too good of a mood to listen to that part of your brain.
Just as you were about to get ready to leave, Johnny stops you. It was late. You should take his bed and get some rest. He'd take you to work in the morning. Despite yourself, you agree. It was late, and you were tired, and the drive back home would be too long. You take off your pants, crawl into his huge bed and pass out.
The next morning was normal. You had an extra uniform in your locker, so you got changed at work. You had gotten a great night's sleep, so you didn't think about your appearance. But apparently, everyone else did.
The gossip began at full force. Someone saw you changing despite the fact you always came into work in uniform. Johnny looked terrible. It was obvious he hadn't gotten great sleep last night. You looked well rested. In fact, you were even glowing! And Johnny had dropped you off, too?
Oh no.
You wanted to address the new rumors, but that's all they were. And even if you did, you were sure it would just backfire. You tried to keep your head down, but one of your best friends (a fellow coworker) came by your desk. Apparently, Johnny was bragging that his bestest friend spent the night over.
You were so mad you tracked him down and pulled him to the side. You whispered angrily at him, chastising him for making it seem like the two of you were an item. You were only friends!
"Yeah, you're m' bestest girl." He shrugged, grinning happily. "N' m' you're bestest boy. We love each other."
The deranged pieces were starting to come together. The way he brushed off the advances of the other girls. The way all of your prospective partners disappeared after getting into it with him. The knowing, almost pitying glances of the 141.
"W-we're friends!" You squeaked. "You're not my boyfriend!"
"Boy friend. Boyfriend. What's th' difference?" Johnny laughed hard, doubling over. "We're together."
After that, you blocked his number and tried to ignore him. Of course, it didn't work. Johnny was relentless. He got new phone numbers to text you. He started sending gifts (this time a mix between the romantic and the mundane). He sent letters of all kinds during deployment. He even sent pictures you were sure would get him in trouble.
You tried so hard to ignore it all until one night, he messaged you on social media.
He was out on a mission again, but he just had to say how he felt:
I can't wait to get home and see you again. I miss you so much. You're one of the only people I can talk to and laugh with. I'm sorry if I made you upset. We should talk about it over dinner. My treat, Bonnie.
You knew better. God, you knew better. But that part of your heart that wanted to trust and love won over. You agreed to talk when he returned, but you made it very clear that it would be a meeting between coworkers, not even friends.
The day eventually came, and the two of you sat across from each other at a too fancy restaurant. There was a dress code, so you had on a nice dress. You were mad from the jump, you couldn't believe you'd let him talk you into this.
He was dressed nicely in a suit, with a bushel of flowers and a medium-sized gift box. He apologized for making you feel uncomfortable. He'd never meant to make you feel that way. He really did see you as his best friend. In his eyes, you were the only person who truly understood him. He let his physical attraction blind him, and for that, he was sorry.
"I'll admit, I did a few bad things against y'." He offered you the box. "I wanna give it all back, wipe the slate clean, love."
Love?
You shakily opened the box and felt bile rise up in the back of your throat. It was pairs of your old panties, missing chapsticks, nail polish, scrunchies, and even a dirty uniform shirt you thought you had lost. The contents of the box had a slightly musky scent that no longer resembled yours. He'd stolen these things and had kept them for a long, long time. Perhaps even before the two of you had become "friends".
You covered your hand with a mouth as you felt like you were getting sick. What the fuck?
"We'll, now tha' everything's been laid bare..."
You watched in shock as a few classical musicians with their instruments came around the table. They encircled you and began playing a romantic piece with sweet vibratos. The guests at other tables started to gasp and point at you. You tried to stand, but John put a hand on your shoulder to keep you sitting. With a voice loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear he began to talk.
"These last couple years you've been my bestest friend, m' bestest girl." He sighed dreamily before getting down onto one knee.
You were mortified. You tried to pull your feet away from him, but he placed a firm hand on your knee. He pulled out a shiny box from his suit pocket. The music hit a peak that made you start to cry from overstimulation. No, no, this couldn't be happening. He's crazy!
"Please, be m' bestest girl forever." He practically pleaded, opening the box to show off a much too large diamond ring. Women at the tables behind you gasped. The music began to stop, but the whine of the violins hurt your head. Tears began to spill down your face.
"Marry me, love."
The entire restaurant went silent.
You could feel dozens upon dozens of eyes on you.
The pressure was too much for you to outright say no.
But you couldn't say yes, either.
You began to sob loudly. You covered your face and tried to hide away from the gaze of the strangers. John shushed you and cooed and pulled you into his arms. You wanted to fight him but his large body shielded you from the petriying public gaze. He rubbed at your back and whispered encouraging words to you. Eventually, he got you to stop blubbering and pulled away from you just enough to look down into your face.
"I love you. N' 've always loved you." He smiled.
You squeaked at the feeling of ice-cold metal being slipped down your middle finger.
You looked down at the ring in shock.
The entire restaurant erupted into claps and whistles and congratulatory whoops.
"N' now we'll be bestest friends forever, love."

theogony part 1 behind the scenes
**SPOILERS ahead for theogony and mild spoilers for Outlander!**
this is just going to be a long infodump of all of the things I pondered while writing theog (specifically part 1, part 2 will come later) but never talked about! I'll try to go chapter by chapter, and maybe I'll end up adding more later on, but for now I just think it'd be fun to chitchat and reminisce on some of my favorite tidbits. this story is really my baby idk :")
Prologue - Alalá
one thing that I wanted to establish in the prologue, other than the obvious James-Sirius dynamic, is the presence of otherworldly or spiritual premonitions in this universe. it was always important to me that the first person who actually made any sort of prophetic declaration was James.
so much of the story relies on Lily's status as an oracle, but this little tidbit here helped build the world for me so much; we can't be sure if James's various dreams and premonitions are wishful thinking, or really the Gods speaking to him, or something else entirely. of course, this story deals with time travel, so there's an inherent supernatural element. but Lily and James's conflicting – and sometimes competing – conceptions of God felt like such a necessary tension for me to explore. it was such an incredible shorthand for the tension between modern and ancient sensibilities. and we never get a definitive answer to those looming questions, which I knew I wanted to do from the outset. did the Gods bring Lily back to the past? did James? did she do it herself? does God/the Gods even exist?
also: there are probably moments where I failed to do this, but I tried to capitalize Gods in all of the James chapters but not in Lily's, unless she was referring to the Abrahamic Capital G God. that is, until the last chapter, which I'll elaborate upon later :)
also: i wrote the prologue first, then the epilogue, and then i posted the prologue pretty immediately after. I had the entire story roughly outlined but I absolutely jumped the gun when it came to posting the prologue LMAO I didn't even really announce the story, I just joked about writing it and then posted the prologue, which you can see from the beginning note. i remember Suze was about to go to sleep and she started messaging me like wtf Clare what do you MEAN?
and the rest was history (pun completely intended)!
Chapter One: Ouroboros
the narrative brushes past the other statues in this section pretty quickly, but I always imagined that the first bust is Philoctetes, James's father. I think the consensus on this one tends to oscillate between Philoctetes and Aristides, which is another great interpretation.
The reason I wrote it this way and imagined it to be Philoctetes is because I thought it would have been nice to let Lily 'meet' James's father (in a sense), even before she 'meets' him. when I read this chapter back after I first finished the story, I had a very soft moment where I close-read my own fic (lol) and thought that maybe it was Philoctetes who sent Lily back to the past. maybe he sensed something about her and knew she'd be right for James and for antiquity.
sooo many people forgot about this! which i was hoping for!!!!! I was hoping everyone would forget about James's statue holding something until the Big Reveal. fun fact is I wrote the reveal right after this. I liked the idea that, no, he was never going to actually be holding anything. he'd be reaching for Lily. the choice to accept his hand was always going to be hers.
a fun fact about this chapter is that I had to pull from a bit more Outlander lore than I originally thought. and no I don't mean the 'Jesus H Roosevelt Christ' part lol. It was always hilarious to me how Outlander set up Claire to be the objectively perfect person to go back in time. she was a combat nurse who happened to develop an interest in medicinal botany and Scottish-English history. she also happened to spend her formative years with her adventurous archaeologist uncle after her only living relatives died. like girl. lol.
so I had to really toss up which traits I thought it would be appropriate for Lily to have as she traveled back in time. the biggest one, obviously, is her field of study, which was necessary given the language barrier and the completely foreign nature of social norms in Classical Athens. I toyed around with the idea of making her mum a nurse so as to give her some base medical knowledge, but that felt a) unnecessary given the circumstances of the story, and b) far-fetched that she would have gleaned enough transferable skills to apply in 479 BCE.
it was also fun to give her more reason to go back to the future; she has a sister who, while they aren't in contact, is a significant emotional attachment; she has academic goals; she has a best friend (however toxic we know him to be). it added a layer of conflict that I enjoyed playing up, even if I definitely could have explored her modern life more fully.
Chapter Two: Kinesis
soooo much exposition and worldbuilding in this chapter. oml. it was so much fun to play around with the reasons why James would be in Tatoi in the first place; I can't remember quite how I landed on the Persian auxiliary soldier thing, it might have been from my initial (admittedly extensive) research on the months leading up to Plataea; it may have just been the fact that I KID YOU NOT this story used to take up all of my fucking brainspace. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I'd be doing work for my research fellowship and just daydream about theogony. the initial idea came to me AS A JOKE!!!!! when i was idly pondering before going to sleep (as one does), and then it just wouldn't leave me alone. i kept imagining what it might look like. I thought about how the time travel might work. I thought about James's Greek equivalent. I ranted to my sister and her dog (he did not care) about what the statue might look like and mean (sorry bestie love u).
one narrative decision that has given me a bit of strife was the Dimitrios-James name change. I've had a number of people ask me if I'd ever try to pubilsh theog – and this is one of the (many) reasons why that would be pretty categorically impossible. using James's English name in his internal narration, instead of the name I give him as a Greek man, is something that only translates to fic. it makes pretty much no sense at all if you consider these original characters lol.
honestly putting the word 'practicum' in here caused me SO much pain. in James's chapters I tried really hard to use words which had Greek roots and not Latin roots, even if they're in modern English today. in most of his chapters, I'd try and find synonyms for big/complex words so I could use ones that came from Greek. it just helped me stick to his narrative voice a bit more.
I forgot how much STUFF went on in this chapter. oh my god SO much happens?? we get the lack of the Parthenon as the time marker (felt very clever doing that), Lily processing the fact that she's time traveled (lazy writing on my part to not have this happen in a Lily POV chapter but I'll take that on the chin), the Plataea reveal. OML. tired just thinking about it. lily sweetie i am so sorry
guys, the amount of time I spent wondering if I should Greek-ify Sirius's name is insane. For so long I thought about making him Seirios, which is the original Greek version of Sirius. But I felt like I had already messed with their names too much, and so I left it. but honestly I'm still torn. looking back, maybe it would have been the right move to make him Seirios and have Lily give him the name Sirius, but I guess we'll never know!
one of my favorite Sirius moments, and something that, essentially, sets up the rest of the story. but I wanted there to be a little ambiguity throughout the story about how much of this Sirius actually believes.
we know that James has just confessed to Sirius and Pétros that he was hoping they'd desert the Athenian army. we know that he thinks he's going to die, and he's adopted this sort of fatalist view of his future. and then here you have Sirius, who could never abide such a thing, pretty much leaning into the idea that Lily can tell the future – which would allow him to challenge James's prediction. I always wanted to leave it up to interpretation, and I know it comes up in later chapters (at the komos especially), Sirius's skepticism about Lily's origins. but it's such a fun question to ask: does he really believe that she's the Oracle that James prayed for, or does he just need that to be true so he can try and influence the future himself?
Chapter Three: Peribolos
omg. lol. the chapter three opening academic argument scene. this is a favorite of mine, and something I had so much fun writing. it's actually based on an argument/"spirited discussion" I had with my dad a few years ago about moral absolutism versus moral relativism which forced me to interrogate and expand my knowledge on the subject. I thought it was such a fun way to get into Lily's politics and her character without doing crazy exposition in the ancient world.
it also touches upon one of the touchstone themes of the story: that to study something is, in a way, to detach yourself from it. academia is routintely completely disconnected from its subject matter, and it creates this weird disdain for lived experience versus book knowledge. Lily has spent upwards of ten years studying (in some capacity) the ancient world, but she is so utterly out of her depth when she experiences it herself. as such, she espouses these very revolutionary politics when examining historical conflicts, but she has a blindness to what the real-world realities may have been for the people living in those conditions at the time.
alsooooo, The Return of Martin Guerre is one of my favorite books I read in college, and the easter egg here is that it's about a person of dubious origin entering a community and the politics of how the community might accept or reject them. ha ha!
^^based on something I said in an argument with a Poli Sci major in college and I have to say one of my better moments. was an absolute haymaker. this was very 'author gives main character a zinger' of me and I will not be ashamed of it
this! ladies and gentlemen! this was basically a declaration of love!!!! to be loved is to be remembered!!!
in a very romantic way, the study of history can be such an act of love to those who lived before us. i just adore the idea that, even before Lily developed real romantic feelings for James, she had this itching sort of feeling; AKA, when someone has made such an impression on you, and you know (or in her case, you think) that you'll be leaving them at some point, and you just want to be interesting enough, be impressive enough, that they remember you, that they think of you randomly as time goes on. that is such a giddy hallmark feeling of having a crush, in my book. I liken it to making eye contact with someone or having a brief conversation on a night out, maybe at 3am on your way back from a bar when things are sleepy and dizzy, and you just have this sense that you're being seen in that moment as anyone you want to be. i love this moment so much I feel like I could give it its own meta LMAO
Chapter Four: Hamartia
this chapter really put the pedal to to the metal lol. at the time of writing the story, I generally didn't (and still don't) love fake dating that much as a trope; I don't typically love plotlines predicated on (even harmless) deceptions, it's just a sensitivity of mine that I don't expect anyone to relate to or share. but when I was considering how to structure theog, it just made so much sense for James and Lily's arcs to have them get 'married.' there was no way that Lily was going to be able to navigate Classical Athens as an unsupervised woman alone, and even with the Oracle title offering her some protection, there was nothing really tying her to James. much like Outlander, it really did feel like the last possible resort, which softened me to the idea of using the trope.
fun fact, i got a snarky comment a few months ago complaining that i was trying to pass the story off as historically accurate (lol to the fifteen disclaimers I embedded throughout which addressed that) and one thing they took issue with was that lily wouldn't have been able to own property and the only thing that would have kept her from being a slave would have been marriage.
which! yknow! none of which contradict the story! but anyway I digress.
I was initially nervous about how early on the fake marriage happens; we don't really know the characters that well yet, we're not sure who James is as a potential partner to Lily, or how Lily's feelings for him are starting to bump up against her very rightful and justified desire to get the hell out of dodge. but – we only really see James in canon as a husband and as the father to the main character, so it felt pretty true to the source material to throw him into being a husband pretty early.
I loved writing this scene with Aristides. I've always been partial to his appearances throughout the story, and this one is just so special to me. I think of him as a driving force in humanizing the ancient world in theog, sometimes even more so than the main cast of characters. to elaborate a bit on that: with the Marauders and Lily and the other transplanted HP characters, I think there's this inherent sense that they are already fleshed out people (to some degree) even before they hit the page of the story, because they appear in canon and across Marauder fic verses. no matter how much I make James into Dimitrios and Peter into Pétros and Fleamont into Philoctetes, people know them and love them outside of theogony verse. but not Aristides. he doesn't have a one-to-one HP character. there is some version of him that really existed in 479 BCE (my complex and largely negative feelings on RPF are setting off alarms at this but we proceed) and that's it.
it would have been easy to just give him this very gruff and surly character, to make him a military general who didn't care about anything other than the war. I think that's how we conceptualize historical people sometimes, often without meaning to. but he was a person, and he had likes and dislikes, he probably had a family and maybe he'd fallen in love, and it was such an honor to give him such dimension. not to say that I'm putting that personality upon the actual historical person; but just to really take my time with a character outside of the Marauder canon. in this scene he has this human moment where he reminds James that, yes, love is a worthy pursuit, even to those in positions of incredible power. even when the discussion isn't about romantic love but about James's love for his closest friends. it's this permission that James didn't even know he was seeking but ultimately that changes the course of his and Lily's lives. Aristides is who James might become, in many ways. in the actual Plataea chapter this becomes more and more prevalent. (more on this later!)
overall, I am forever hoping that people come out of reading this story with an appreciation for the humanity of those that came before us. I did a poor job with other characters in this story, and I own that, but I'm proud of how I wrote Aristides.
oh my godddddd I fucking love this part. i am so fucking proud of it. LMAO. achieving wordplay in an ancient language that i have never studied should be on my fucking CV I swear. like this was just perfect I'm sorry I am BUZZING that I pulled this off.
also, a cute way to introduce a phrase to the narrative which will become very important: se filo!
I remember that I wrote this passage, which many people commented on and which I loved writing, in a coffee shop on a sunny day when my cousin was visiting me to introduce me to his girlfriend. there wasn't any wifi in the coffee shop so I was blessedly devoid of distractions and could only focus on the doc, and i was LOCKED IN let me tell you.
when my cousin and his girlfriend arrived I told them I was sending an important email and edited the last sentence of that paragraph about four different times while they sat in silence and waited for me to finish LMAOOO
Chapter Five: Ascesis
a profoundly insane moment in my personal history was reading excerpts from Eudemian Ethics, Nichomachean Ethics, and Memorabilia just to passively mention them in a flashback in a fic. relied heavily on Foucault for this, I will be so honest. why did i do that tho. like girl take a breath...
but in all seriousness this was just a joy to write. i miss being a history student and having these discussions – law school is great, but history classes will forever hold my heart ngl! also, this passage is in some ways an homage to my grandfather, who is one of my favorite people ever. he taught himself Classical Greek and Latin when he was in his 20s, before he went to medical school (and get his pilot's license for fun, he's seriously the most interesting guy alive). he gifted me his leatherbound Great Books printings of Aristotle's works and of the Iliad and the Odyssey shortly after I started theogony, and I cherish them so much. he spurred my interest in ancient greece when i was young. so this is for him :)
one of the hardest things for me to articulate (and maybe something I could have done better) was the war and the balance between James's inherent goodness and his growing feelings for Lily. i wanted her to have plausible reason to think that he doesn't at all feel romantically towards her, even as she's growing to admire him more and more. I hoped, as I wrote the story, that these little interactions where the reader clues into his feelings (this protective 'peninsula' moment being one of them) still walked that line. as in, i wanted lily to reasonably believe that he's just that good of a guy that he would take issue with anyone being taken advantage of, not just her. she's so destabilized in this moment as well, I think that worked to my advantage. or I hoped it did LOL.
from what I remember of writing this chapter, it just came really quickly and naturally. much more than the later ones. this early period of writing was just an outpouring of the ABSOLUTE BRAINROT I was going through after conjuring up the idea for the story. it just flew. the ending scene where they have their little almost-moment was probably about an hour's worth of writing. it's like I couldn't type fast enough to keep up with my thoughts. not sure i've experienced that since!
also, the now, here, alive line reappears in the last chapter, which is one of my favorite callbacks:
:) :) :)
Chapter Six: Kleos
one thing I used to worry about CONSTANTLY is that I was losing the classic (and necessary!) Marauder goofiness to the more somber setting. so it was a jaunt and a boon to write scenes like the opening one here, where it honestly could be copy-pasted into the Gryffindor Common Room and it'd look a lot like my canon stories.
he's just a dude being hungover and embarrassed about the previous night with his bros!
the first time we get a hint of Pétros disappearing to dubious locations!
this chapter was one of the most research-heavy. it was a new setting, filled with new characters, and predicated entirely upon planning the Greek front at Plataea. so if I couldn't nail that down (at least to some degree), I was going to have trouble. of course I took liberties, but I spent a lot longer combing through sources for this chapter than some other ones, I'll tell you that for free. it took ages to find any treatises on ancient athenian sword combat, sigh.
yeah I mean i remember thinking that the subtitle for this chapter could have been 'I am going to create an environment that is so toxically masculine' because that's pretty much the whole vibe. James is not immune to that, either, and that was intentional. he feeds off of the violence and the anger of the men surrounding him, and he exhibits some behaviors in this chapter (rushing off to kill Anaxagoras after he grabs Lily's arm, for instance) which are not ideal! but I do think that there's meaningful conversation to be had about Lily's cultural assimilation into an ancient, misogynistic society, and how there was absolutely no way I was going to get out of this story without giving James some sort of period-typical attitude. now again, I took the liberties I deem necessary, because I have no desire to make my main romantic lead into an asshole. that's not my James Potter. not that that's news [gets taken out by a sniper]
i got CLOWNEDDD for referring to this dude as Dion son of Dion but idk what to tell you!! that's how the old documents referred to him!!! i didn't make that shit up I swear to god!!!!
also - that's the actual text of the Oath of Plataea, except (as Lily points out) it should read Athena Areia. is it likey that she'd remember this off the dome? no. is it possible that she just recognized the missing descriptor from context clues? yes. did i care enough to explain this either way? no, no i did not.
the Big Ticket Item of this chapter, though, is the oh.
and it wasn't just an oh, it was an oh followed by this innocuous conclusion that isn't even about Lily. i made myself laugh so hard with that. he's just like 'oh god my friend is going to wave this over my head FOREVER' and you know what? he's right!
as for the previous paragraph in that passage, I pulled a bit of a bait and switch, but not as badly as you might think! it was a risk to even bring up the idea that James could leave Athens, because I know it spurred some people into thinking that he'd go to the future with Lily (sorry babies that was not on the table). but what I intended for this passage (however successful it may or may not have been) was to just…allow him a moment of real, visceral empathy for the sensation of displacement that Lily's experiencing, and as well, introduce the idea that he might leave the life he's cultivated in Athens. his entire upbringing has been himself, the consummate Athenian man, surrounding himself with people from outside of Athens and drawing from their experiences, but never venturing outside of his little realm. in so many ways, the story questions what Lily's relationship with 'home' is (especially later on), but it always felt necessary to me to reckon with how 'home' may change for James as well.
finally:
yeah honestly i just remember the exact moment i thought of this passage. i had been reading the secret history (shoutout Donna Tartt i idolize and fear you) and i was lying down in my local park in the summer. I just thought about the Greek myths I knew, and the kind of cosmic horror that it is to really admit you're falling in love with someone, that they have this power over you that you didn't anticipate. and that closing line of the scene really struck me out of nowhere – I wrote it down in my notebook and just stared at it for a good few minutes. it's still one of my favs of the story :)
ok! if you made it this far, you are just amazing. this has to be a few thousand words at least. TYSM!!!!
see you all later for the part 2 BTS ❤️
#honestly if this gets 0 notes i don't even mind#this is purely for my audience of one (myself) LMAO#theogony#clare talks writing#THIS IS SO FUCKING LONG HOLY GOD

Unimatrix Zero Parts I & II. This two part ep (like many other episodes) has me thinking about the subtle intimacy between Janeway and Seven. The ending of Unimatrix just gets me so good I just can't help sharing my thoughts about them.
Janeway: "Ooh, the doctor removed my spinal clamps but it will be awhile before I'm playing hoverball again." A playful Janeway is making jokes about recovering from the assimilation but meanwhile, a concerned Seven reaches out to hold her arm and steady her as she loses her balance. Repeat that, Seven is initiating contact with Janeway. I rarely see her do this with anyone. Janeway is so unguarded with her in this scene. Her vulnerability and trust with Seven seems to continuously grow.
Janeway: "If I ever imply its been easy on you these last few years, remind me about today."
Seven: "Noted." And she smiles with playful amusement at Janeway.
Janeway: "Unimatrix Zero might be gone but it looks like the resistance is alive and kicking. With any luck the collective may never be the same." Janeway says this as she casts a peculiar, perhaps seductive, look at Seven.
Seven: "Korok said he would try to maintain contact, keep us informed." Seven seems very pleased that Janeway is satisfied with the outcome and is behind her 100%. And then suddenly, Janeway is curious about something....
Janeway: "Have you heard from your friend?" Janeways voice drops down several registers and her eyes get super heavy, she practically whispers these words to Seven. She doesn't even speak his name. There seems to be alot of trepidation coming from Janeway about the outcome of Seven and her "friend". Is she concerned, or slightly jealous? The mood has definitely changed from playful business to intimate relations.
Seven: "No, but I don't expect to. Axums vessel is in a remote sector of the beta quadrant."
Janeway: long silent pause with an understanding nod. Why the long pause here Janeway? She's looking her over (perhaps waiting for something else to be said or considering her own feelings?) Janeway is rarely this quiet omg she's breaking my heart with her longing. She nods in understanding that Seven will likely never see Axum again, but there seems to be something else going on behind her eyes, some other kind of feeling that she's trying to supress...is it relief, curiosity, her own desires? Just ughghghgh...the long pause. I can't seem to get over it bc she is so quiet about whatever she's thinking and feeling. It's the way the camera lingers on her too, there is a whole story in that expression.
Seven: "If I ever imply that he was nothing more than a friend, remind me about today." There is a noticeable drop in Sevens register as she says this to Janeway. Also note that she is mirroring the phrase Janeway just recently used. Mirroring is a form of intimacy. There is also a hesitation in her soft spoken words that seems to echo back to earlier in the episode when Janeway asked her who Axum was. A trepidation of her own?
Janeway: THIS LOOK. What is she saying to us, to Seven, to herself? Seven has just revealed very personal information to her trusted friend. She IS capable of romance. Janeway, Kathryn, ma'am, captain...just go ahead, kiss the girl.
Clearly they both have feelings for each other and this scene feels like they're exploring those feelings together, treading very carefully. I can't forget that both of them, without hesitation, were on board with Janeway entering into Sevens psyche to even be in unimatrix zero. That's pretty intimate. All through this episode I kept picking up on intimate vibes between these two. A little bit of jealousy from janeway when she was commenting oh how Annika was enjoying her human side. (Was she jealous that Seven was enjoying her human nature with Axum and not with her?) A little bit of guilt coming from Seven when she remembered the true nature of her relationship with Axum. (Were her feelings for Janeway the source of this guilt?) Janeways startled look of surprise when seven first mentioned Axums name. Seven telling Axum that her name is Seven of Nine when he called her Annika. The way Seven and Janeway both look at each other when entering the mind meld. The fact that Janeway tells chakotay she will not pass up the opportunity to see unimatrix no matter how many headaches she gets from doing the meld. The mind melds themselves are intimacy! Without a hitch Janeway beats down the borg to protect seven, while Axum just stands there. Seven visits her in sickbay. The whole episode has me thinking about them very deeply and I'm in my comfort bay alcove.

Racing Hearts - Part 3
Pairing : Max Verstappen x fem! reader/ driver
max and y/n are only growing closer. they like each other. but would that be enough?
Part 1 | Part 2
it's a little long this time, i got carried away ;) your comments and support mean a lot, they motivate me to keep writing :)
Max and your unprecedented range of events were further heightened by the media. Everyone talked about you two. This wasn’t rivalry or friendship. This was something the world of Formula 1 had never witnessed before.
Instead of shying away from the media frenzy, you decided to face it head-on, braving a whirlwind of interviews, appearances, and photo shoots.
As the interviews rolled on, the playful banter between you and Max took on a life of its own, stealing the show every time. One moment that had everyone in stitches was when an interviewer asked about your daily routine. With a sly grin, you shot Max a mischievous look before answering, "Well, it usually starts with me crushing Max at some virtual racing on our gaming consoles. He's got nothing on me when it comes to video games."
Max playfully rolled his eyes, "Yeah, right. I let you win, it's called being a gentleman."
You couldn't help but laugh, "A gentleman who can't handle losing, more like it."
From there, the conversation took off, touching on everything from your favorite travel destinations to your go-to karaoke songs. When Max couldn't resist teasing you about your high notes, you fired back, "Oh, please. You're just jealous that I can hit those notes better than you hit the apex."
The interviews may have been hectic, but with Max by your side, you were having the time of your life. Laughter became a constant companion, with inside jokes forming during every appearance. Fans started to notice the chemistry that went beyond mere rivalry.
The whirlwind continued with a series of photoshoots, where the chemistry between you and Max translated effortlessly onto film.
A photoshoot in progress, capturing moments frozen in time. You and Max couldn’t help but turn it into a playground of laughter. The photographer took a break, and Max seized the opportunity to unleash his mischievous side. As soon as the lens turned away, he pulled faces that ranged from exaggerated expressions of surprise to comically pouting lips. Your attempts to keep a straight face fail miserably, and you burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Max, seriously, can you tone it down for a moment?" you plead through giggles.
He feigns innocence, "What? I'm just adding a touch of drama."
The photographer returns, oblivious to Max's brief stint as a comedic actor. However, you can't hold back your laughter, and the moment is captured on film - a snapshot of the behind-the-scenes hilarity.
As you both reviewed the photos later, there was a shared sense of satisfaction – not just from the stunning images but from the genuine joy that radiated through each frame. The glossy images weren't just snapshots of professional racers; they were windows into something that had blossomed amidst the high-stakes world of Formula 1.
The marketing machine wasn't satisfied with just interviews and photoshoots; soon, Red Bull Racing suggested a joint podcast to delve even deeper into the personalities of their star drivers.
Max grinned, savoring the opportunity to steer the conversation toward more personal territories. "Alright, Y/N, let's make it interesting. If you could relive any moment of your life, what would it be?"
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the unexpected turn. "That's a tough one. Maybe a childhood memory. You know, the carefree days before racing became my entire world. How about you, Max?"
He leaned back, adopting a thoughtful expression. "I'd probably go back to my first race win. The rush of emotions, the taste of victory."
It was your turn now, “Any race that is your favorite?”
"Remember that one race in Monaco?" he mused, a playful glint in his eyes.
You grinned, "Oh, how could I forget? It's not every day you get kissed in front of the entire world."
Max leaned in, his lips dangerously close to your ear, "And yet, here we are, still making headlines."
As the race weekends unfolded, the media attention showed no signs of waning. Every shared podium appearance, every victorious celebration, and even the occasional post-race kiss fueled the narrative further.
“We had my shoey. And now Max and Y/N’s kisses seem to be a new tradition. You know I’m all up for it. If I’m on the podium, I’ll be kissing Max too.” Daniel said playfully in an interview.
During a particularly tense race at Spa-Francorchamps, you and Max found yourselves wheel-to-wheel in a fierce battle for the lead. The high-speed duel captivated fans, but what happened after the race added an unexpected twist to the tale.
In the cool-down room, Max approached you, a genuine smile on his face. "You pushed me out there. Good race."
You grinned, "Likewise. But what was with that risky move at Eau Rouge? You almost sent me off the track."
He chuckled, "Gotta keep you on your toes. Can't let things get too predictable."
Needless to say, your cheeks turned red fast.
Amidst the chaos of media attention, race weekends, and public scrutiny, you and Max found a moment of respite in the city where it all began – Monaco.
The evening started at Max's house, a chic and cozy penthouse overlooking the harbor. Soft jazz music played in the background. The scent of a delicious homemade meal wafted through the air, as you and Max stood side by side in the well-equipped kitchen, aprons on, ready to embark on a culinary adventure.
"I hope you're prepared for a taste of my secret recipe," Max teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he handed you a chopping board.
"Secret recipe? Should I be worried?" you replied with a playful smirk, taking the chopping board from him.
"Okay, maybe 'secret recipe' was a bit of an exaggeration," Max admitted, his laughter echoing through the kitchen. "But I promise, it'll be the best pasta you've ever had."
The aroma of the simmering sauce filled the air, blending with the smooth jazz playing in the background.
While chopping vegetables and stirring pots, Max stole a playful glance at you. "You know, Y/N, I've never had this much fun in the kitchen before."
You smiled, with a playful glint in your eyes.
As the final touches were added to the meal, you and Max set the table, the anticipation building for the culinary masterpiece you had created together.
After dinner, you sat on the balcony. The night was beautiful and calm.
As a gentle breeze rustled, Max reached for your hand, his touch conveying a silent assurance that, at this moment, it was just the two of you against the world.
"You know," Max said with a soft smile, "I never thought cooking together could be this much fun."
"Surprising, isn't it? Maybe we've discovered a hidden talent for culinary collaboration," you replied, intertwining your fingers with his.
He chuckled, "Or maybe it's just the company that makes it special."
And then, in a tender yet passionate moment, Max leaned in, his eyes locking onto yours. "You know, Y/N," he murmured, "there's something magical about moments like these."
You felt your heartbeat quicken, a gentle flush warming your cheeks. "And to think only a couple of months ago we were hell-bent on tearing each other apart " you teased.
As his lips met yours, the world outside the penthouse faded away.
It wasn’t like those kisses you had before. They were fueled by adrenaline. But here it was just pure calm, and genuine happiness to be with each other.
But a storm was brewing quietly.
Headline: "Max Verstappen's Soft Side: Is Y/N Taking Advantage?"
In recent weeks, Max Verstappen's performance on and off the track has raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike. The usually fierce and competitive driver seems to have softened, and many speculate that Y/N’'s influence is the cause. As their unexpected relationship unfolds, questions arise about whether she's leveraging their connection for personal gain. With Y/N now on the verge of a potential championship victory, concerns grow that Max's focus on the track may be compromised, jeopardizing his chances at the championship.
Max sat alone in his dark room, his anxious eyes glued to the screen of his phone as he scrolled through the endless stream of news articles. The more he read, the more uncertain he felt, and his mind began to race with worst-case scenarios. The words on the screen seemed to taunt him with their tone, and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by doubt and fear.
Suddenly, his phone rang, shattering the eerie silence of the room. He saw that it was you calling, and his heart raced with anticipation. Should he answer? The temptation was too great to resist, but he couldn't bear the thought of what might come next, so he hit the reject button.
His doubts had won.
It was race day.
“Max is back! Oh Y/N would not have liked that. Hurts being taken out from the race by your own boyfriend.”

FRIENDS?
pairings: Xavier Thorpe x Fem!reader summary: Xavier doesn't like seeing you around other people. warnings: swearing, mention of alcohol and drugs. jealous Xavier, mention of sex. Xavier being a bit possessive. characters are 18.
note: don't forget to request anything that you would like to see. I made a post on who I take requests for
"what the hell is wrong with you?!" you shouted at Xavier
"nothing, what's your problem?" Xavier said aggressively
"leave, get out of my room. I don't want you here!" you demanded, pointing to the entrance of your room
"I'm not leaving" he shook his head, taking a slow step closer to you
"Xavier, get the hell out my room right now" you yelled at him, taking a step back.
"fine, but don't come crawling back to me when they leave you!" he screamed in your face
"oh trust me, I won't" you laughed sarcastically.
Xavier walked away from you, out the door where you slammed it in his face. you leaned against the door and bit your tongue, trying your hardest not the let the tears fall from your eyes, but they did. and they wouldn't stop.
---
that was a month ago. and since then, you haven't talked to Xavier at all, you had lost your closest friend of years to something he was jealous about.
"hey, darling" said an annoying voice, you turned to the blonde boy
"I've already told you not to call me that, we're not dating, we're not together and we never will be, what we did was a one time thing and I was partially drunk. so please. whatever your name is, leave. me. alone" you rolled your eyes at him.
he had been following you around like a lost puppy for the past two weeks because you slept with him at a party and you had gotten sick of it, but up until now, you could just bare it.
the boy gulped before leaving your table
"don't you think you should take a break from sleeping around with guys?" your friend, Danny suggested
"It's not like I do it on purpose, its the alcohol and drugs that does it" you shrugged.
lately you've been experimenting with those type of things at parties. you don't mean to but it's like a routine. you go to the party, you see Xavier staring at you, you take a dink or a smoke and end up all over a guy.
you wouldn't say it's to make Xavier jealous, but you do it because of him.
but again, you don't mean to, you just help yourself.
XAVIER'S POV
something about seeing her with all these guys just pisses me off. she knows what she's doing, and she knows I don't like it.
I even said it to her.
she started ditching me for her new 'friends' and sleeping around having sex with almost any guy she crossed paths with.
I told myself I was looking out for her. but I know it's more than that.
it's been a month since she threw me out, meaning she has a whole month to cool off. so when I saw her walking the corridors to the poe statue alone. I took my chance.
I followed her and snapped twice. down the stairs quietly I noticed her talking to a guy
"yesterday was fun, so. did you want to go out again. maybe tomorrow?" the guy said. standing a little too close for my liking
"I'd like that" she giggled softly. my stomach flipped, and not in the good way, my hands formed into finsts as I watched the scene unfold. he tucked a stray hair behind her ear and smiled at her.
she looked at him like he was the only guy in the world.
"well I'll see you then" he said
"I can't wait"
I quickly hid when I saw him coming up the stairs to leave. i held a breath as he walked past. I didn't want to hurt him.
but I did
--
"she's mine" I growled as I stared down at his unconscious body laying on the concrete floor.
I go back to the secret library and see her standing there, back turned to me. she looked like she was doing something, but I couldn't see.
I get to the bottom of the stairs with my hands in the pockets of my pants. I walk up behind her without her knowing and grabbed the notebook floating in the air.
the pen that was writing on it dropped and she turned to me out of shock
"give it back" she demanded. she looked cute
"come and get it" I smirked hiding it behind my back so she can't access it.
"give it back to me please" she sighed
"tell me what you you were doing with that other guy" I said
"what?" her eyebrows were lifted, acting oblivious
"you know I don't have patience. what where you doing?" I stated
"none of your business" she had her arms crossed against her chest, she look annoyed, but she made it look so cute
"are you wasted?" I asked
"no! why do even you care anyway? it's not your problem" she rolled her eyes
"you know your friends have been here too long" I took a step forward
"oh my god I can't believe you right now, I am aloud to have friends, I don't know why we're having this conversation again" she groaned
"no no, you can't blame this on me anymore. at first I did too, but over the past month I've realised this is on you, that you were too busy lying and sleeping around with guys to even hang out with me" i dropped the book and took a step closer to her
"I don't need to explain myself to you- why does it matter anyway, it's not like we were together!" you yelled at him
"well what the hell were we?! you can't seriously tell me that we were just friends, cause you and I both know we were more than that!" I took another step forward, making her back up slowly
"you're being ridiculous!"
"oh I'm being ridiculous because I'm fucking protecting you?!" I screamed
"Protecting me from what? my friends? they're better friends than you will ever be" she growled
"trust me they are not your friends, and that guy you were talking to is seeing three other girls" I paused, licking my lips frustratedly "but yeah, if they're better friends go on then, leave again" I laughed
"fuck you!" she yelled
"please do" I smirked
"my friends are great" she defended
I took a look around the room, pretending to look for her 'friends'
"and where are these great friends of yours right now, hm?" I huffed in amusement
"I-"
"-I can tell you where they are" I smiled "they're out in town, probably in the cafe, drinking coffee while talking shit about you"
"you are such a fucking dick" she ran her hands on her face
"I'm a dick for stating the truth? ok sure" I shrugged
"why are you even here?" she threw her hands in the air and back down to her sides
"because I'm fucking sick of seeing you with other people!" I screamed, backing her up into a bookshelf
"so you're jealous? we're not even friends anymore, you don't have the right to be mad at me for it"
"I'm aloud to be mad, I've been watching the girl I love ditch me for idiots for the past two months!" I yelled
"oh so now you love me, great" she said sarcastically
"I've always loved you, you fucking idiot, you're just to blind to even notice!" I ran a hand through my hair.
-
you went to say something but he cut you off
"don't you dare try to tell me you don't feel the same, cause we both know that we had something. you just threw it away to sleep with people"
"I was drunk and high, I didn't know what I was doing" you said quietly
"that hasn't stopped you from doing it again" Xavier growled
"I- I'm sorry" you whispered
"no you're not" he shook his head in disappointment, looking down at his feet, he didn't want to look at you.
"the only reason I did it was to get over you!" you yelled
"what the hell do you mean?" xavier questioned
"don't act like you haven't slept with other people. I only slept with them because you did it with Bianca!" she choked out
"what the hell are you talking about?"
"don't act fucking clueless! I know you slept with her, there's no point in denying it" you sighed, moving past him and walking away
"I never slept with Bianca" he denied
"bullshit" you cursed, not turning back
"don't fucking walk away from me, turn around" he said, trailing after you, stopping at the stairs where you were walking up
you stopped but you didn't turn around
"she told me" you smiled sadly, turning around for him to see your eyes become watery
"I can promise you that I didn't, you are the only girl I've had my eyes on in years" he gripped onto the railing of the staircase while looking up at you
you walked down the stairs and stopped in front of him
"I promise" he muttered to you, looking down at you lovingly
you gripped onto the collar of his shirt and pulled him down your level, placing a desperate kiss on his lips.
he situated his hands on your hips and moved closer to you, rubbing your hips against his own.
"so you love me?" you said amused
"don't act like you don't love me back" he shook his head, chuckling
"we're just friends" you teased, trying to hide a smile
"friends? yeah, I'll show you friends" he smirked, picking you up, wrapping your legs around his torso and kissing you.

Akaashi Keiji x Reader //
{He loves you}
Summary: just you going through a rough time and doubting your love for Akaashi but he's there to give you a reality check.
Notes: hurt/comfort kinda? Post time-skip, established relationship
He loves you. You swear he does. You know he does. So why don't you feel it when those words of affirmation leave his mouth, sleepy in the morning hours when he pulls you closer to him on a day off from work or the quick 'love you's' said in a rush when he's running late. Was it because he didn't add the I ? No, you are overthinking again. You need to stop but you can't. As you watch his rising and sinking back in the dark of your shared bedroom you wonder once again whether he feels the same, although he so clearly said he does not. You know because you asked him earlier on the couch as you were leaning against his chest, his arm draped over your shoulder, watching a random movie.
"Do you ever feel like we're not as close as we used to be?"
He had turned his head away from the movie to look at you, his expression confused, his overall demeanour tired, to say the least. He gave your shoulder a light affectionate squeeze.
"Do you feel that way?" He had asked you back.
You suppose you do.
"A little," you had admitted, only half lying.
Because you feel that way a little more than only a little. It's better he doesn't knows that though, you tell yourself. It scares you. The what if's haunt you.
"I don't," he had finally answered, his confused expression turning more relaxed, but you could tell he was getting a bit concerned. You could hear it in the way his voice grew slightly restless. There was a shift of energy in the air.
"Why do you feel that way?" He had wanted to know.
You had shrugged. You didn't know and you regretted you had ever asked in that moment.
"I'm not sure Keiji," you had let out a deep sigh and shifted forward on the couch, leaving his arm on your shoulder to gently drop. "Forget I asked, I think I'm just tired."
"You're not thinking of leaving me behind with that question now, are you?" He had inquired, brows furrowed.
Your nose had scrunched up as if you had tasted something bitter. It wouldn't have been fair of you to run like that after starting the conversation but there was nothing more you wanted to do in that moment than to run and hide. Another sigh escaped your lips. Then a nervous chuckle. Oh, how you hated the conversation you had gotten yourself into.
"I just feel so.. distant from you lately," you had not dared to look at him as your voice grew quieter with the words that had left your mouth so your eyes fixated on the TV instead, showing you scenes you weren't even interested in. There had been no need to look at him to feel the way his eyes were trying to find some sort of answer on your back, desperately searching for your eyes and a proper explanation. He had nevertheless stayed quiet, hiding his own racing thoughts quite well, so you continued.
"And it's not just you.. everything feels a bit.. numb?" You questioned. "Or distant..?"
Was that it? You weren't sure. Even now.
He had taken a moment to think, his own mind playing tug of war with the what if's of your future together and his common sense telling him that he needed to remain calm and a pillar of strenght for you in times like this.
"Has there been something on your mind lately?" He had shifted forward on the couch as well to try and find your face. Of course he wouldn't show but a sense of desparation had been creeping up on him. His fiddling fingers gave him away anyway.
"A lot," you had admitted but with a chuckle to try and allay the uncomfortable truth of the situation. Finally you had looked him in the face. The way in which every uncomfortable word and thought that had left your mouth had been accepted by him so selflessly so far had decreased the burden inside you, even if just a little, and got replaced by a sense of gratitude instead to your surprise.
His furrowed brows had softened and he'd reached out both of his hands, palms facing upward, offering for you to hold them and without hesitating you had taken them. You always did.
"We'll work it out together then," he had declared with conviction, like it was the obvious next step. "It doesn't has to be now. But we will work it out so don't even think about bottling it all up from now on. I'm always by your side, you know that."
You had silently nodded. As difficult and uncomfortable as it had been to speak about how you were feeling, you were glad after all that you had done it. Relief had washed over you once those uncomfortable words were heard and understood by the right heart.
"Ah, don't say things like that, I'm feeling all silly now," you had bend your head down and dismissively waved a hand inbetween you two, feeling a bit embarassed, still not quite used to being treated in such a non judgemental manner.
He had smiled faintly at you.
"It's time you get used to it. Cause you deserve it. You know, sometimes I just wanna grab your shoulders," he had let go of your hand to gently grab your shoulders instead, "and shake you and yell at you that you're amazing and I don't wanna stop until you see it too. Should we give that a try?"
With a dumb smile you had scrunched up your nose again and to him it was the cutest thing you could've done. He might as well have done the whole shoulder shaking thing just to see you scrunch your nose like that. He was clearly calmer then, his own anxious what if's floating away, after the realization that the issue wasn't him but only about you and that this was one of many moments where he simply needed to be there for you.
"I don't think that'll work," you had replied.
"You never know," he had told you but let go of your shoulders anyway. The end credits of the movie were rolling as he had turned his head to the music coming from the TV.
"That movie was shit," he had noted and you had nodded agreeingly.
"Took the words out of my mouth. The plot twist was so.. out of the blue. It felt kind of unnecessary. Or like they were trying too hard."
"Alright there, Mrs. Movie Critic," he had said in his usual dry tone but with just a hint of joking irony. You had playfully hit his shoulder with your fist.
"Am right though."
He couldn't help but break the facade and smile at you once more.
"Yeah no, I agree. The actors really saved this one with their acting." He had then turned off the TV and left were you guys in the dimly lit living room of your house. The suddenly quiet room had made you feel very drowsy at once and the couch seemed way more comfortable than your bed ever had been.
"And about what you said earlier. I want you to always tell me whenever you feel that way. I'm not gonna risk us ever falling apart."
Gratitude was not enough to explain what you had been feeling for him in that moment. Hastily you had nodded, letting him know you were on the same boat.
"Me neither. I was a bit scared to tell you at first.. I didn't want you to take it the wrong way but now I'm glad I did."
"Is there more you wanna tell me? "
You hadn't replied right away. Of course there was more but it was so late already, you had decided it could wait so you shook your head. "Not really.. let's just go sleep, I'm tired."
He hadn't quite believed you when you had told him that. Of course not. He knew you well enough to know when you were telling the full truth and when you were telling only the half truth. But he let it slide this time, the tiredness getting to him as well.
"Ok.." he had then leaned forward to press a soft kiss on your forehead. "Just know it's your responsibility if you keep bottling everything up. I'm willing to hear you out. Always. Even in the dead of night. Just talk to me."
He had waited a bit more in case you would chang your mind and wanted to say more after all but when you hadn't done that he had stood up and you had followed right after him. You guys had brushed your teeth together in silence and went to bed.
And now as you were laying in bed in the dead of night, watching his back you are wondering whether this is ok. Whether he doesn't deserve to lay in this bed with someone who'd love him better than you. As if he had heard your thoughts he shuffled around, his sleepy eyes slowly opening to look at your shadowy face in the dark. At least you believe they opened.
"Can't sleep?" He asks you, his voice drowsy and barely above a whisper.
You shake your head although you're not sure whether he saw it or if he's closed his eyes again. But he just shuffles closer to you and places his hand over your hip and on your back and pulls you closer to him. You see now that his eyes are closed again.
"You're thinking too much," he whispers.
"Look who's talking," you whisper back.
The silence in the room makes you think he fell back asleep again.
"When did you start feeling this way?"
"I'm not sure.. I guess it kinda creeped up on me.."
"You've been very stressed lately," he notes and you're not sure if he's sleepy or lost in thought or both.
"Mhm.. yeah.."
"Take some more time for yourself," he opens his eyes again, trying to find yours as they get used to the dark and let more light in. "You've been working yourself to the bone like a workaholic lately and putting too much pressure on yourself. You try too hard. You need to learn to let things flow."
His words feel like a punch to the gut. He was never one to sugarcoat things and you appreciated that but that didn't always make the truth easier to hear. But still, suddenly it made click in your head and it all seemed to make sense. Of course you thought. Of course you were feeling so distant from everyone lately. You had been so busy pressuring yourself into perfection, putting expectation on top of expectation on your own shoulders. Nothing was good enough and there was no room for anything else, especially not for love, but your worries and doubts. How could you feel connected to anything that was right infront of you when your mind was contantly either pulling you to the should have's of the past or the what if's of the future? You exhale a breath you didn't even realize you were holding.
"Thanks for letting me love someone like you Keiji."
"Thanks for loving me. Go to sleep now."
You place your arm over his torso and press your ear against his chest. When was the last time you had heard someone's heartbeat? The moments were fleeting and you wanted to let each moment be it's own moment from now on. The past was unchangebale and the future consisted of the present moment. And right now his beating heart was your present, therefore it was all that existed you thought to yourself as you drifted to sleep with his heartbeat as your lullaby.

Moonlight
Summary: You and Edward Cullen used to have a romantic relationship. But fate seemed not to believe in the possibility of a vampire and a potential she-wolf being together. Years after your separation, you return to Forks. Edward is committed to Bella Swan, and Jacob Black has his own pack. What happens when, upon your return, you begin to transform into a she-wolf and both Edward and Jacob seem eager to revisit the past with you?
Author's Note: The characters in this fanfic do not belong to me but to Stephenie Meyer and the Twilight universe. The story blends events that happened in the Twilight saga movies with invented ones. If you're enjoying the fanfic, please interact. This story will contain inappropriate language, a possible love triangle, scenes of violence, and romance. I would appreciate it if those who enjoy the fanfic could leave a comment and like (kudos). Engagement helps me know that there are still people reading.
TEN
ELEVEN
You wake up the next morning feeling a slight ache in your body, but there is not a hint of regret for what happened with Edward. Not finding him beside you is a bit of a surprise, and for a brief moment, your mind wonders if he might have second thoughts. Then, the sound of the shower reaches you, and relief washes over you as you realize he’s just gone to freshen up.
You can't help but feel an unusual happiness—something you haven't experienced in so long. The fact that you and Edward spent the night together, without either of you pulling away or feeling regretful, sends a flutter of excitement through you, like butterflies in your stomach.
"Relax, I’m not going anywhere without you," Edward calls from the bathroom, his voice reassuring yet playful.
"Stop eavesdropping on my thoughts, you nosy vampire," you retort, a smile tugging at your lips as you rummage through a drawer, looking for something to wear. After last night, a wave of hunger hits you, and you realize you need food.
Wearing a dress you found in one of your suitcases, you head down to the kitchen. You make eggs, bacon, and coffee, and with a growling stomach, you devour it all in a nearly ravenous manner. The speed leaves you feeling a bit nauseous, but after sipping your coffee, a warm calm settles over you. Edward comes down the stairs, moving quickly to wrap his arms around your waist from behind, his hands resting on your stomach in a soothing gesture, as if he could somehow ease your discomfort. You smile, kissing his cheek and nestling against him.
“I was thinking,” he murmurs near your ear, his tone casual yet serious, “it seems our only real option now is marriage. We’d make things official before your pack and my family.” You turn to look at him, needing to see his face to know if he’s truly serious. But his expression is steady, earnest, as though he’s proposing a practical solution rather than a life-altering commitment.
“Marriage is our only option? How practical of you,” you say, trying to stay rational despite the flurry of thoughts swirling in your mind. After everything we’ve been through—all the ups and downs, the constant push and pull—it seems so drastic to be talking about marriage now, you think, feeling both excited and apprehensive at the same time.
“That’s exactly why we should,” Edward replies, as if he’s hearing your thoughts. “In a strange way, I think the chances of us separating would be smaller if we were married.” You stare at him, torn between your excitement and your reservations, and give his arm a gentle smack, still not entirely sure if he’s serious.
"We’re forgetting that traditional marriages not only take time but also come with a certain vow that says 'till death do us part'—and, well, that’s already happened. Hate to break it to you, but you’re dead, darling," you say, almost laughing as you watch Edward’s expression grow serious. To soften the mood, you plant a quick kiss on his lips, a playful gesture that makes his eyes lighten again. He lets out a reluctant smile, his tension melting a little as he pulls you closer.
"Our wedding doesn’t need to be traditional—a small ceremony, just with my family and anyone you'd like to invite. Carlisle could officiate, symbolically. In front of those we care about, I’d vow to be yours until your final breath. I, Edward Cullen, would promise to love you for as long as I exist, until your last heartbeat. What do you think?" Edward's voice is passionate, his intense gaze pulling you in, making the idea of this promise feel as real as any vow.
You step closer, leaning in as if to kiss him. Just inches from his lips, you murmur, "Then let’s do it—our own 'till death do us part.' Get ready, Cullen; you’re about to be officially mine." Edward doesn’t wait for another word, pulling you in for a kiss filled with a fervor that leaves no room for hesitation.
"Would it be too hasty to suggest we do this before you change your mind—or the world splits in two?" Edward murmurs, breaking the kiss, and you laugh. Given your history, doing this quickly might actually be wise.
"I still need to get a dress for the occasion. But I agree, we shouldn't waste time. I’ll invite my pack, sort out the dress, and then we can get married," you reply, trying to stay practical. Edward, however, looks like he has something to share.
"I don’t want to seem like an overly prepared fiancé, but… Alice may or may not have foreseen that you’d say yes. And she may or may not have picked out a few dresses with Esme in the time it took us to reconcile. She also saw you’d like this ring," he says, pulling out a small box and opening it to reveal one of the most beautiful engagement rings you've ever seen. Gently, he slides it onto your finger as you take in everything happening.
"Somehow, it feels like you're cheating by using your sister's foresight for our engagement. But, the ring is gorgeous, and I do trust Alice's taste," you say with a smile, admiring the ring on your finger.
"We could hold it in front of my family’s house," Edward says, kissing your cheek. "That way, there’s nothing to worry about—Alice and the rest are already prepared to arrange everything. Even Rosalie." You can’t help but think that maybe you’re rushing things, but honestly, who cares?
"Alright, let’s have the ceremony there. I just need to invite my pack, and then I’ll head to your house to get ready. As long as you understand that after our unconventional wedding, we'll be living here," you say, holding Edward’s gaze. It feels strange, telling a vampire you'll be settling in a house with such deep ties to wolves, but you know you’ll feel more at ease in your own home than in the Cullen residence.
"This might be the most human conversation we’ll have. Should we talk about getting a pet—or children?" Edward asks with a hint of humor, but you take the question seriously, knowing it's important to consider the future.
"There’s no need for a pet when I turn into a wolf from time to time. And while I know we can’t have children biologically, at least as far as we know, maybe we should talk about adoption. Somehow, your parents managed it, so maybe we could try," you reply, watching as his expression shifts, a slight shadow crossing his face.
"Y/N, I love you. But I don't think I can give you a family. Esme and Carlisle have what it takes to raise someone, but I don’t believe I do. Especially since we are two beings of different species. We'll need to learn how to live as two. A third person could complicate that," Edward says sincerely, holding your hand delicately. He is right; adding another person into the mix would undoubtedly complicate things. Yet, you can’t help but feel a wave of sadness wash over you at the thought. Why does the idea of a family feel so unattainable? Perhaps it's the longing for something deeper—a shared life that includes not just the two of you, but the warmth of laughter and chaos that children can bring.
"You’re right; it was foolish of me to think any aspect of our life would be normal. I’ll go upstairs and get ready to speak with my pack," you say, heading toward the stairs. But Edward pulls you in by the waist, holding you from behind in a strong embrace followed by a kiss on your neck.
"I don’t want you to feel foolish for wanting a family. I just want you to understand that a future with me likely won’t include a family larger than the one we already have. But know that by marrying, your pack will become my family, and my family will become yours," Edward speaks softly.
You sigh, then murmur, "It will be enough for just you and me against the world, my dear," as you gently remove his arms from around you and ascend the stairs. You don’t take long to get ready, but by the time you finish, Edward has already left. He leaves a note saying he went to prepare for the wedding and that he will be waiting for you. With a determined nod, you grab your keys and head to your car, driving to Jacob's house.
As you drive, the discomfort in your stomach lingers, perhaps from the stress of the day. It only intensifies when you pull up in front of Jacob's house and see him surrounded by your pack and Bella Swan. Great. You take a deep breath, refusing to let it shake you. Stepping out of the car, you put on a friendly smile, determined to handle whatever comes next.
Seth speaks up first, “Y/N, we didn’t expect to see you here now.” His voice is casual, but everyone’s gaze is fixed on you, including Jacob’s, who stands silently with the rest of the pack beside Bella.
Bella's eyes drift to the ring on your finger, her expression tight. "I suppose you're here to tell us you’re back with Edward," she says, voice laced with a faint cynicism. "Congratulations are in order, I see." She extends a hand toward you, her smile barely polite.
You meet her handshake with composure, a soft smile gracing your lips as you reply, "Thank you, Bella. I appreciate your kindness." The words hang in the air, subtly charged, as all eyes remain fixed on the two of you. Her expression is almost unreadable, but there’s an edge to her tone that doesn't escape you.
Jacob clears his throat, breaking the tension. “So… this is really happening?” he asks, his gaze fixed on the ring glinting on your finger. His voice carries a mix of surprise and something else—a hint of concern, maybe even disappointment.
Yes, it’s happening. I hope all of you will attend. Including you, Bella," you say, turning to her with a calm expression. "I know Edward would be glad to see you there."
You look around at the rest of the pack, meeting each of their gazes in turn. "As for the rest of you, you’re my pack—my only family. So it would mean a lot to have you there."

Author's Note: I have the time and motivation to write and no coherent ideas so I'm going with a tried and true tested classic overused ass cliche mermaid trope, we all love them there is no point lyin' and denying. This should be done in chapters but I always abandon those so it will be a one shot.
Summary: Jungkook has come to a bridge he never wanted to have to cross, explaining to your daughter why she's never known you and why she can't go on a trip with her boyfriend; in her case, he could literally lose his babygirl if she goes
Characters: Y/N, Jungkook, Y/N and Jungkook's daughter Alara, mention of her bf but he's irrelevant to the plot honestly lol
Warnings: tbh idk if this one will have any, some fluff, some angst, a teenager being well a teenager, corny jokes on Jungkook's part, some physical grabbing and momentary choking in a non-sexual way/almost abusive way, mermaid suicide?
"I hate you!! I hate you so much-ugh- you don't even understand dad! You have no idea! I'm probably never going to forgive you for this!!" Alara, better known as Ally, shouts to Jungkook as she's storms ahead of him back to the car.
"ALARA, Don't walk ahead of me....please," Jungkook pleads. He wanted to shout back at her for the disrespect but he was hurting too much at her words and in this moment, he was telling himself this was not the moment to let her see him cry, and willing himself not to was taking all of his willpower. He wanted nothing more than to turn off his hearing aid
"WHY? Why shouldn't I? This is what you did to mom!! Remember that!? Huh!? Did you forget!? Well, I didn't!!! It must've been about the same time too-," she looked to the darkness of the night sky, then checked the time on her phone, "yeah...exactly, 9:30-just because you can't be happy, I can't be!! It's not fair!!" Her anger boils over and she shoves his chest.
He grips her arm, "Get in, Alara," he says, all sorts of emotions boiling inside of him as he eyes her neck. He wipes his mouth, "please....please," his hand forms a fist and the one gripping her arm tightens, "tell me that isn't what I fucking think it is," he swallows a lump in his throat. "Well, yeah, you kinda interrupted something. You're hurting me, let go...," she mumbles. "I showed up just in time, get in the truck." He opens the door and lets her arm go when she's sitting in the passenger seat, to her angry screaming, he had no choice but to turn his aid down and pound on and close her window, lock it as well. He shouts for her to 'Stop yelling', more pleads as he grips her boyfriends ears and cradles his head when he sees him doubling over behind them, gripping his bleeding ears. She watches the scene and reads Jungkook's lips and stops shouting at the sight; watching her dad check on her boyfriend and then come back to the truck and slam the door and readjust the volume settings on his hearing device. "W-What happened?" She stutters crying, "what happened just now!? Was that because of me? Damn it, I want answers!!" She once again stops shouting when she sees Jungkook painfully try to shield his ears, the way his face grimaced
"Are you done?" Jungkook asks her, his voice as if he had swallowed gravel and she nods. For a moment, he only starts driving, saying nothing
"What the fuck were you thinking?" He asks calmly, staring dead ahead at the road, he couldn't bear to look at her skin marked with those damn hickeys until he asked, reaching over to gently rub the back of his finger over them
"I was thinking I am almost a grown woman and it felt good, I trust him and I like him and I thought you did too..."
"Almost....I do...I'm not mad at you, I am not mad at either of you, have to admit what you said back there did tick me off a smidge.....it's time we had a conversation I was hoping we would never have to have, admittedly it was silly of me to think that-"
"Dad, I don't need that talk, I know everything I need to know and then some-"
"God, Ew, no, no, please no, just shush stop. I clearly can see you know--you left with a bag packed, I told you can't go on that beach trip"
"Yeah, I know, which is really stupid, and what you didn't tell me was why," she crosses her arms in a pout
"Alright, little miss almost grown ass woman, I'll give you the answers. You can't go on that trip because I don't want to lose you....same reason we never went to the ocean when you were growing up"
"Yeah, I've always wanted to see the ocean-and what do you mean you'd lose me? I can swim and I wouldn't be alone, I'd be with someone we both trust and what the hell happened back there? I was hurting you both-his ears were bleeding dad! You were both in pain! I need more than that!"
"I'm getting there baby," Jungkook takes a deep breath, "I'm going to need you to listen....please"
She nods, hearing the seriousness in his tone, "okay"
"It is a long story, I should start with, that woman that left, storming off, at 9:30 that night all those years ago, as you so very vividly remember and didn't fail to mention earlier-," she opens her mouth to speak and he cuts her off with a hand in her face, "listening." "That woman wasn't your mother, you never referred to her as such when she was in our lives and I will not allow you to start now; she was my ex wife and that's it....and yes, his ears were bleeding, he might have some damage done but he will be okay, and yes, it was because of you....you have to be careful....now, I have to tell you about your mother to answer all of these questions and to explain-"
"Just a ex wife," she scoffs, "hmph, is that all my mom was?"
"No, your mom and I were never married. Never even together romantically or otherwise"
"Dad, we just established I know better than that, so what she wasn't even worthy of being with you huh? So what? A one night stand? Fuck buddy?"
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!" Before he could stop himself to think he was reacting, slamming on the breaks and reaching over to grab her throat, "DON'T YOU EVER DISRESPECT MY BEST FRIEND LIKE THAT! YOU HEAR ME!?!" He had completely blacked out, he very quickly comes back to when he feels his baby girl's hand tapping his arm and her gasping. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry baby. I'm so sorry.....please, just don't talk about your mother like that, and please listen...," she was scared, he had never reacted this way to anything. She nods and accepts the water bottle he was offering her from the cooler in the back, drinking some as he stroked her hair and finally was bursting into tears and stroking her hair, apologizing through his sobs. After taking the time to calm him down and leaning over to let him hold her for a bit he was able to start driving again and telling her the story. "I'm sorry, I will never do that again I swear; and I won't tell you that you can't go on that trip, I'll let you make that decision....but if you go, he and I both lose you....and I want you to be able to experience life and love and....what I interrupted," he shivers at the thought
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Gguk!! It's so good to have you out man!!" Namjoon says as he and all of Jungkook's brothers ran to meet him at the gates and bombard him with welcomed hugs.
"Hi guys, hey, I-I met someone"
"Look at you smiling!" Yoongi laughs and pats his shoulder. "Yeah, she must be great!" Hope adds laughing and they all start asking questions.
"Guys," Jungkook laughs, "I met her....at the beach...in the water....this is going to sound crazy but...she's a mermaid," there is a long pause before the guys burst into laughing. "Man, the military really broke you huh?" Taeyhung messes his hair. "No, no really, I'm serious....guys, I'm serious"
Namjoon gestures for the guys to stop, "Jungkook....," he says, his voices lace with worry
"I'm serious. I have proof," Jungkook reaches behind him into his bag for something and shows them two glass potion jars, the kind you could buy at a craft store, one containing water that was white and glowed like the sun, the other was water with what looked like a pearl and what appeared to be glass beads; they weren't sure. "This is water, it's from her hair, she dripped into here," he says about the smaller jar, "and....this one is...I'm not sure....after she gave me the other one she climbed onto a rock, she said that she wanted me to have what was going to be there and if I ever missed her to add a piece of myself and to never let it go to the ocean or I would lose it forever, so, she...she climbed out and asked to hold my hand and she became a few scales and this pearl thing.....and she held my hand, she was in so much pain, the sun, outside of the water, her human flesh seemed to...to...melt into a pile of boiling blood a wave crashed onto and immediately washed a away....I was left in shock, she wasn't holding my hand anymore.....but she didn't even scream or anything as it happened.....she just looked at me and I looked at her, and it was quiet....then as the wave came, I quickly grabbed the pearl and the scales like she said and I put them in here with some water; I couldn't leave it bloody....it's been a few days and I have missed her but I haven't done anything"
The silence went on for a very long moment as all of the guys stared at the bottles and their contents, Jungkook's eyes were locked on them but the guys glanced between each other.
"C-Comeon, let's get you out of the heat," Namjoon says as if he's speaking to a fragile child, wrapping a arm around Jungkook as they walk him to the van to leave the base. "You believe me right guys?" He looks at all of them and they all nod and give a "yeah, sure~" "totally~" in that same condescending voice as Namjoon had, "Listen we are going to be here for you buddy, you should stay with Tae and I for a while," Namjoon added. Yet Jungkook didn't relent on his stories, he went on for months after that, they didn't relent on treating him as if he had lost his mind either; they played along thinking he was in a fragile mental state, asked him questions and listened to what he would say.
'Hey, Gguk, how did you meet your fish girlfriend? You were sweating in your sleep last night, twitching....want to talk about that? Was it what happened-what you said when you were leaving the service?'
Jungkook nods to the part of the question addressing what specifically caused him to do that in his sleep, and shakes his head, "no, I don't want to talk about that," he picks at his cuticles and looks down at them then looks up and smiles, "but I do want to talk about her. She was just my friend, I met her during a break, I took a trip to a private beach and she was in the water. Obviously I swam to her, I said hi," he shrugs
"You saw a mermaid," Namjoon cleared his throat, to try and not give away his true thoughts, "and you just...swam up and said hi?" He asked
"What? So you are a therapist now and think I'm crazy?" Jungkook asks defensively. Namjoon had become a therapist but also was being a complete ass
"I...I just want to hear the story, may I hear the story please?"
"Okay....," Jungkook comes around and sits, "I swam to her, her back was turned so I scared her," he giggles, "she jumped back and she looked shocked, so I apologized...," he smiles as he drifts into the story
~~~~~~~
"Hi," you jumped, feeling a finger tap the back of your shoulder as you turned to see another merperson. You had never witnessed a human nor merperson before, only known stories you would hear through the water of both. This one, was breathtaking, whichever it was. "Hi, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you....you uh, you have a tail"
You nod. "May want to keep that hidden," he whispers and smiles to you.
"D-Do you have a tail?" You had no idea how you were able to communicate with him. "No, I'm human. I don't have a tail, I have legs, see?" He flipped to be as if he were standing on his head in the water, his legs sticking out of the top
"So....what brings you out here?" He asks laughing
"I.....was.....," you look around, "I was....alone"
"Because it's a private beach? You aren't alone, don't want anything happening to you, so...I'm Jungguk, what's your name?"
"Name?"
"Yeah, what do your kind call you? By the way did you sing to lure me here?" He replies, laughing at your very confused expression, "I didn't hear any"
"I didn't ...sing.....I don't have a kind?"
"oh......so you really meant.....you're all by yourself?" You nod to his question, "Only me, this kind"
"oh.....well the ocean is a big place, that has to be lonely....I've been missing my brothers too and lonely myself....how about let's be friends, yeah? And you need a name, how's......Y/N?"
"Yes," you agree, smiling and nodding. He was at least someone something like you
"So....I'm guessing you're not like the TV mermaids that can switch back and forth?"
"No," you shake your head and he laughs
"I see, well, I spend most of my time on land but I'm a really good swimmer so I'll came and see you here on my breaks, okay?" You nod, all you understand is that he will see you and it will be here
And Jungkook did, for many months he came to see you there often, he showed you all sorts of human things. When he came at night, the thing he called the sky was dark and it had these things he called stars; that was a third world neither of you could touch. He showed you things of the human world, and told you about life there, and these things called dad jokes that he got from his big brother Seokjin. He always spoke of his big brothers and he had many of them, Seokjin seemed to be his favorite. You found yourself wanting to meet them all, you actually thought someday you might meet Seokjin, he was a fisherman, but Jungkook assured you you had no reason to be afraid of him. He said that Seokjin cooked the fish really well too, he said he cooked everything well, and you could imagine tasting and enjoying a happy meal with his family. You admired how he said Seokjin had learned to cook because their brother Jimin wasn't eating. In his stories, they were never alone, you much preferred this feeling you got listening to Jungkook and being with him than your time before you knew him. You trusted him and you felt like part of his family, you could sense how he felt much like you did then not being with them and you very much hated that.
"Jungkook, I found this on a ship wreck, what is it?" You ask him one day
"oh, that, that's a very damaged book cover"
"What is a book?"
"A book is something that humans use to share knowledge and stories for entertainment. My brother's really like the Harry Potter ones"
"Can you tell me about it?" You listened as the sun set and he told you these stories of Harry Potter that his brothers liked
Many of his visits went this way, talking for hours and hours, until one day, he came and he didn't seem to want to speak much at all
He sat by a rock and leaned on it appearing defeated, he didn't even get in the water with you to swim. He looked only at his hands, "Y/N.....I came to say, this is my last visit....my military service is going to end really soon...and I'm going home, I wanted to say goodbye because you have been such a great friend to me the past few years"
"I will miss you very much, I don't want to be alone again....when does your service end?"
"Two weeks..."
"May I see you one more time? Please?"
"Yeah, I can come one more time..... tomorrow?"
"Yes, and could you please bring me some of those.....Harry Potter potion bottles?"
He chuckles, "Yeah, I can do that," and the next day he came then as he promised
"The small one please?" He hands it to you and you ring your hair into it before passing it back, "don't drink it, it's just to not forget me," you laugh and he smiles then you take the other bottle, "I am going to come out to that rock, can you hold my hand and maybe you can tell your family stories about me? I want you to take what's left there in this and if you miss me you can just add a little bit of yourself, just don't let it go to the water or you will lose it forever...."
"Yeah....a shore thing...," he jokes and you alright and take his hand, using your upper body strength to lift yourself up onto the rock. It happens immediately, the sun burning your human flesh and boiling you but you just focus on Jungkook holding your hand
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Jungkook, hey!!!" Jungkook comes to his senses and sees Namjoon tapping his face and wiping it on his sweater sleeve, "what?" He asks as he's pulled into the larger man's shoulder, "I've got you, I've got you, it's okay....it's over....."
Namjoon narrowed this whole mermaid thing down to traumatic experience Jungkook must've seen on the field and was using it to cope with the PTSD. Nothing seems to change after that and one day he comes home to Jungkook, holding a sleeping baby in his arms while he was on the floor, on his knees, blood pouring from his ears.
"JUNGKOOK!" He rushes over when his friend didn't respond to him screaming, he tries to take the child but Jungkook's grip was like a boa constrictor around it's prey but he was protecting the child like a mother lioness. Namjoon tries to explain to Jungkook that he was trying to help, they needed to clean the little one and get them both to the hospital. He manages to call Seokjin over to help and together they get them both to the hospital. The child appeared to be a perfectly normal and healthy little girl, two legs, two feet, ten toes. They did lab work and learned she was Jungkook's but didn't understand how when they had been keeping close watch on him because of his mental state and he hadn't been with anyone; either Namjoon, Seokjin, or Taeyhung would have known. That was also the night Jungkook had lost his hearing and was almost completely and entirely deaf. The next week's they spent adjusting to Jungkook now being hearing impaired and all pitched in to help him with the baby, no one asked for a while how the hell she came to be until eventually they did. One night when she was a few weeks old and they could no longer stand it they brought it up.
Jungkook tells them the truth, the night that Alara was born, the night he never wanted to relive ever, he had been missing you intensely and just wanted to talk to you when he was finally alone. So he plucked a strand of his hair and placed it into the jar, thinking nothing would happen he gave it a shake and stared at it but something did happen. He heard you screaming, he heard what he should have heard the last time he saw you and the jar shattered leaving Ally there where it was, screaming just as intensely, he was telling you that you were going to be okay for what felt like eternity while the glass shattered which didn't happen quickly. When you finally stopped screaming the baby was crying and he felt the pain but didn't care, he was cooing and trying to get her to feel safe. Eventually Namjoon came home
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So......if I go on this trip.....what did she mean you will lose me forever?"
"I don't know.....," he answers honestly
"Daddy, I'm scared....," she was crying now, quietly
He was pulling in the drive at this point and parking, he comes around and when she gets out and hugs his neck, he lifts her up like she's a baby again and carries her up to tuck her in, "me too.....just.....think about it before you do it.....please"
"shore thing.....," and he wipes her tears with his thumb and kisses her forehead

It's been finished for a while, just didn't feel like uploading anything. It really takes effort to get the post done, with all the links, the credits, proofreading, etc.
Also yeah, it's the second x-tra! Since @zu-is-here insists on drawing illustrations for this fic, readers get more x-tra scenes!
Enjoy!

X-tra 2
Horror hopes he knows where to shortcut to find Murder. He doesn't want him alone after a fight; never again.
Murder isn't in his room, but that's okay. Horror has a few other places to check. He can't feel the other's emotions like Nightmare can, but he knows Murder better than anyone, so of course he'll find him.
Just let him not be too late. Murder needs him.
Horror shortcuts and shortcuts. The castle is silent and empty — it's weird not to hear a single soul, no spars on the yard, no smells of cooking — someone is, was, always awake here. The castle was alive despite overwhelming, suffocating negativity, and now it's dead. For good, once Horror and Murder leave as well. It feels strange to even consider leaving the place behind, yet it's only logical — nothing stops them anymore. They can have a try at a happy ending of their own.
Horror finds Murder in one of the balconies where he sits right on the floor, breathing deeply. He's meditating, Horror knows, so he doesn't interrupt. Instead he sits quietly in front of Murder and watches his deceivingly calm features, looking for a sign of distress. Murder is particularly vulnerable before and after gaining EXP, and while Horror couldn't really help before — Nightmare would never let them comfort each other when their negative emotions were high, only after they calmed down by themselves — he can now. So he's here. It's new, so he's not sure what exactly to do, but being around people always seemed to ground Murder, if only a little, so Horror will keep him company. They worked together for so long they grew attached despite their differences and their past. Horror was at odds with most of others, mostly because unlike them, he cared about his brother and his people and couldn't even imagine killing them. In a sense, he was lucky, never once living through what they call a Genocide timeline; but he had a hell of his own.
Nightmare only picked up toys long broken, after all. Those he could bend and twist into loyalty. Some managed to escape his grasp — Cross wasn't the first traitor, not at all, although he's the only one who joined Dream and therefore put a target much bigger than usual on his back. Nightmare does not forget, and he does not forgive.
Or at least that's how it used to be. Nightmare did bow and thank them for help, after all. And earlier, he did let them go without a word.
They're not free yet, though. Maybe will never be. But now they can make a first step. Together with Murder, Horror hopes. He doesn't want to leave his partner alone.
Murder opens his sockets, mismatched eye-lights focusing on Horror.
Neither talks until Murder twitches, "Did you want something?"
"Just make sure you're alright," Horror responds. "Well, as much as possible," he corrects.
Murder hugs his knees, curling into himself. "Papyrus didn't make an appearance, if that's what you'd like to know. I don't know if it's meditation or he just doesn't feel like it."
"That's okay," Horror assures. "There's no rush anymore."
Murder lowers his gaze. "Are we really leaving?" he asks. Something in his tone breaks Horror's heart. He's come to care so much about his partner.
"I don't know," he answers honestly. "I have to ask Farmer if he's okay with it. But I don't think he'll refuse, especially if we promise to help."
"We're both unstable," Murder says. "And they're peaceful. Would it work?"
Horror knows what he's really asking. What if I snap? What if you snap? Horror doesn't know how to answer that. What he knows for sure is, "We won't be alone anymore."
Murder grins. "Don't know about you, but I was never alone in the first place. Not since you…" He quiets and whispers, smile smaller but more genuine: "Thank you."
"Thank you, too," Horror grumbles. It's not easy to be so open after years of hiding, even before Nightmare came for him, but for Murder, he can do it.
They fall silent, sitting on the cool floor, looking at each other. They're both roughed up, though not injured too seriously. Some food and a bath will heal them in a moment. Maybe good sleep, too, though they won't be sleeping any time soon. Or at least Horror won't.
"Why do you think Nightmare returned?" Murder asks, uncertain and vulnerable. He looks Horror in the eye, waiting for his response nervously.
"I think," Horror says, "Nightmare needs something he left here. Probably those precious books of his. And besides, we knew it would happen sooner or later, didn't we? We were ready as we'd ever be."
Murder nods thoughtfully, reaching out. Horror lets him touch and caress his hands. Intimacy is difficult, but Murder deserves comfort, and Horror is ready to provide.
"It's so weird seeing him like this," Murder murmurs softly. He must be scared to share his thoughts so openly, and so is Horror, but they will manage for sure. There's nothing stopping them anymore. They don't have to hurt anymore. They can heal.
"It is," Horror agrees. "Whatever happened that got rid of his corruption changed him drastically, huh?"
Murder doesn't answer — there's no need to talk anymore.
So they sit together, despite the odds, against the ever-present oppressing air of an AU with hopes and dreams long gone. They're not quite ready for whatever will come next, but Horror wants to face the future by Murder's side.

Soulmates can hear eatchother sing even from across the universe- Jing Yuan
N: low-key read that as "even in another universe" I was like how the fuck am I gonna write that... thanks for the request nonnie!!
Event link here: 3/5 requests
Unironcally the first time he heard you sing was when you were trying to show off to your parents. He thought you were fine at first (he invested in ear plugs) but did think you coulda used some work. Funny to think you thought the same, bullying eatchothers singing abilities while fresh outta high school
He has noticed you've sung more often maybe singing classes? It was nice you've gotten better, he's quickly fallen inlove with your voice, how calmly you sing certain notes controlling your volume with minor fixes here and there. Most of the time he enjoys your first attempts at a certain lyrics, but hearing you sing has become a something he looks foward to.
He's tried to talk to you via singing he could have sworn he heard you laugh but he knows you can't. When you do respond sometimes your singing voice is wonderful. "Do you mind saying that again~" "No problem" the smoothness of your voice is heavenly its like your right next to his ear, you could probably hear him blushing with every response you give. "So what planet are you from" the sudden question shocked him a bit but he answered calmly "Xianzhou Luofu" "really?" A sudden interest burst through your usual elegant and calming voice "I'm from Penacony" "I see" "I can see if I can do a show there In the future maybe I can see you" you should have seen him he was like a child, it wouldn't be out of character if he mumbled a yes and pumped his fist. He could be calmly doing paperwork and then his hands slam on the desk eyes widen and he sings, these rumors were overdramatized but it did get a laugh outta you imaging such a scene
Little to say, when he heard the express landed with a reported star from Penacony he thought of you instantly calmly walking toward where they landed where his mind was yelling at him to hurry it up. When he finally arrived little to say there was a reason Yanqing was there. "You're acting like a child" "this is normal behavior you would have nearly flew on them" "No I wouldnt!" He smiles before seeing a person holding a box talking to March 7th. "I'm a bit nervous thank you for bringing me here" "I can show you around" "thank you" grateful you turn to suddenly see a bird fly infront of you with the white haired male following behind it "apologizes he's been expecting someone's arrival" "does it involve a star from Pelacony?"
That smirk of yours, from an outside perspective it may be seen as arrogance but he's heard your voice enough to know exactly what you ment. "A little birdie did mention a general that was so love struck he was able to sing a whole musical when his soulmate was to sing" he giggling embrassed someone caught him responding to you "I'm glad you enjoy listening to me that much" You kiss his cheek. He blushes putting his hand to the cheek you kissed. "I'm glad I finally got to meet you aswell" he kisses your cheek as you two continue your lovey dovey first meet, handing him the box with things you thought he'd like. "It has a ticket to one of my shows aswell, I hope you'll be able to make it" "I'm sure I'll have time to" you two lost in your own world forgetting about the others. "You think they ever thought of asking for his number?" March leans in to whisper "now that I think about it do you ever think they asked?" Those two made an inside joke about it, little to say they're never gonna look at either of you seriously again
