I have a couple of ideas for oneshots in the world of before and after fic so I've been trying to figure out what to name the series and the problem is I actually have too many options and none of them feel quite right

Was making genuine progress in before and after fic and buffy just comes up to me and stands on my chest. Waits patiently for almost a minute for me to catch on, so I push my laptop aside and she sat on me and promptly fell asleep. Very much "you've been working for an hour. Lap is mine now." Guess how many words this fic is clocking at and I've only just finished the first draft of the first goddamn chapter. Guess. Because I estimated this whole thing would be 20k-30k and I was WRONG

Plan has changed and ch1 of before and after fic is going to be up sooner rather than later :) I just can't wait anymore I'm too excited!!

Progress on the before and after sequels! Ch1 of the mental health fic has been done for days, but I wrote parts of a couple more chapters yesterday and today and finished a JayRoy fic that happens way at the end of the timeline (around 2020, which is four years after before and after) (in case ur wondering, the mental health fic takes place around two years after before and after fic, although I haven't set it in a particular month, just sometime in winter of 2017-2018). So so far we have

- a oneshot intrequel (completed)

- a wip proper sequel that's going to be three chapters long (the mental health fic) (wip, outline completed)

- a sequel to it that I'm working on in the same doc I'm calling the therapy fic, yes those are two separate things (wip, outline is a mess)

- a pre-jayroy oneshot (completed)

- JayRoy oneshot (completed)

So, uh, yeah, progress is being made

🏅 and 🌝 for the fic asks?

🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).

Okay so actually both of those examples are something I'm really proud of right now. I decided I was going to write a fic about Tim Drake joining the batfam early and UTRH happening anyway, decided there'd be parallels in every chapter, and then I planned the whole thing, and then I executed it according to the plan in like??? Two and a half months??? Like the whole thing from beginning to end was maybe three and a half months and it was GOOD. Like it's a good fic I'm genuinely so proud of!!!

I also recently wrote my first mlm smut in over a year and it was a lot of fun but more importantly I was just happy to be horny again cause I was afraid I'd lost it

🌝 Who is one character you haven’t yet written for that you would like to?

Smallville!Lois is the biggest one right now, like I have a prompt in my inbox I'm thinking of using for her and I have half a dozen fic ideas but nothing is really sticking out yet. When I finish with the current rewatch we'll see what happens

so the before and after fic schedule looks like this right now

this coming saturday, 26/11, is chapter 9

next saturday, 3/12, is chapter 10 and the epilogue

saturday after that, 10/12, is a one shot intrequel taking place between the before and the after parts of the main fic

after that we're a bit up in the air right now cause I'm, unsurprisingly, writing the other works in the series non-linearly, and the other already written oneshot is the one that's furthest down the timeline and therefore spoils one of the meatier sequels pretty heavily. so I've started working on it! working title is "the mental health fic", and I wrote the outline today - to be fair, it's only three chapters long, so it's not exactly on the scale of before and after fic, but nothing else in the series is going to be on that scale, anyway. assuming I've written all three chapters by 17/12, we'll just publish the mental health fic every saturday too, and then publish the far future sequel.

but if not, we'll improvise - I don't rly feel like I'm required to continue the every saturday schedule once the main fic is done, it's just good for pacing if I do already have the content. really the point of it in the first place was to give myself time to finish writing the next few chapters before publishing, which worked marvelously but won't be necessary once we've gotten out of the longfic format.

I still can't believe before and after fic got fully written in such a short timeframe, honestly. from outline to final word in the doc, not even three months had passed. that's insane. I appreciate everyone's support so much, I can't tell y'all enough.

the thing about before and after fic is that I'm legit so excited about it and I love the story I've written so far (we're at more than 16k by now!) but like also I'm fully aware I'm entirely ruining the actual themes of UTRH for my own purposes. Like Batman is isolated and that's part of what makes UTRH work but my story isn't about Batman, it's about Jason and Tim, and so if in this au Tim is there I legit don't see why Barbara can't be there (thematically, idk plot), so they're both there, and if you want to read something that has the themes of the original, just read the original, y'know? It's good I promise

Before and after fic is officially over 10k words and I'm only just under halfway through chapter 3 so I would say it's going well and also my 20k word estimate was so. Goddamn. Fucking. Wrong.

Unrelated to me losing my mind over one scene in one episode of sandman I've also chosen to work on my "Tim joins the family early but Jason still dies" fic tonight (I've nicknamed it "before and after fic" but I assume that will only mean something to people I've been talking to about it) and I've written almost three pages in the outline tonight and a full page of it is just the after section of the final chapter. Most other chapters total - both the before and the after sections - come out to slightly more than half a page. And I'm not done. The final chapter is a monstrosity and I love it. Also there's gonna be an epilogue cause fuck you I love epilogues
