Piazza Trilusa

Piazza Trilussa si trova nella zona denominata “Trastevere”, dinanzi a Ponte Sisto, il quale collega il Lungotevere della Farnesina con il Lungotevere Raffaello Sanzio, congiungendo la piazza alla zona di Campo de’ Fiori.

La Piazza è dominata da una grande fontana, rialzata da scalinate, (Fontana dell’Acqua Paola) sulle quali ci si siede a chiacchierare o bere qualcosa, in quanto oggi è il luogo di incontro di romani e turisti che vogliono dedicarsi alla movida nel quartiere di Trastevere, zona ricca di locali, bar, ristoranti e movimento notturno.

La Fontana dell’Acqua Paola (o Fontanone dell’Acqua Paola), si trova visivamente centrata rispetto al Ponte Sisto dinanzi ad essa. Fu costruita a seguito del prolungamento della canalizzazione dell’Acqua Paola, ed è nota anche come Fontana di Ponte Sisto.

Si tratta di una costruzione in marmo, risalente all’inizio del 1600, che in origine si trovava a ridosso dell’Ospizio dei Mendicanti di via Giulia. Fu spostata e ricostruita nella posizione attuale alle fine del 1800, in occasione della distruzione dell’ospizio.

Sulla piazza si trova anche una statua bronzea raffigurante il poeta Trilussa, con accanto una sua poesia:

“Mentre me leggo er solito giornale spaparacchiato all’ombra d’un pajaro, vedo un porco e je dico: – Addio, majale! vedo un ciuccio e je dico: – Addio, somaro! Forse ‘ste bestie nun me capiranno, ma provo armeno la soddisfazzione de poté dì le cose come stanno senza paura de finì in priggione”

Interessante rimane il nome “Trilussa” del poeta il quale non è che un anagramma del suo cognome “Salustri”.
