#well personally i love gwen killing kevin bc it furthers my own agenda of - no i shant advertise myself here#but the angst potential IS delicious#bc like u said idk that ben could arrest her but he sure as hell would never forgive her#and can u imagine if he didnt see it? like maybe he got the wrong alien idk lets say walkatrout#he hits the ground first for insert reason here and passes out bc#he might be alive thanks to the watch but hes gonna need some repair thatll take a while#so then he wakes up to learn that kevin has died#man. man.#ben 10 (via @expired-blueberries)
There's so much potential for so much pain and drama you could, you wouldn't even have to squeeze it out of it you could just let it drip like a farmer's cheese.
Honestly Ben for Reasons doesn't find out until later that Kevin died is just, masterful. Like, god would that not be such a fucking reflection of his life- an abused street rat that was failed and used and left behind all his life (and gods you could call back to the the shit in The Gauntlet, where the Tennysons just forget they left him severely injured) dies in a horrible way, at the hands of the one he loves, and alone. And Ben, waking up to wonder why Kevin wasn't checking on him, looking for him because he wouldn't have gone far even if he could and just, finding the broken pieces.
And fucking Gwen- First having to be told Kevin is dead, the only fuckers that were around to potentially see were Ben and Zed. The realization that her boyfriend is dead. That she killed him. That she killed him for the stupidest reason. Because again she didn't like what he said and again hurting him was her best way of handling it (third time on screen) and now, now this time there are consequences. Does she try to argue her own defense? Does she go into denial? Does she just shut down? Again does she face any official consequences for her actions, or does it get officially brushed aside as a tragic accident despite the fact her favorite relative can't look her in the face anymore?
And that's before you get into the reactions of individuals outside the main group. Rook hardly knows Kevin, and Max would 100% care more about his grandkids being traumatized than the fact one of them did at the least a manslaughter, but there's other people canonically who know him. Does word get out of how he died? Does this affect the way Gwen is treated? Or does it get downplayed as 'he died during the defense of Galvan Prime and Galvan B'? Does Raff come to the funeral? In fact who in general comes to the funeral? How does Argit take the news? And what of that pair we're up to the Rooters arc led to believe are his mom and stepdad? How do they take it, and do they get the actual story?
It could be a really painful piece.
I don't have the emotional fortitude to write it, but the brain does sometimes mosey over to the potential aftermath of simple shit like 'the Omnitrix is programmed to prevent its wielder from dying', 'Ben is known to occasionally get the wrong alien', and 'falling from great heights is very bad for your health' coming together after Gwen shoves the boys out of the ship during Showdown to result in one dead Kevin.
Like damn but that could be one dramatic and painful storyline.
