I'm going to say this on here as well since it'll reach more people, but please please do not use the phrase "[my] intrusive thoughts won" or anything like it. intrusive thoughts are horrible thoughts about doing the things that disgust you the most, if you have them you do NOT want to do these things, theyre literally your biggest fears. they are commonly associated with ocd (though they can also be a symptom of other anxiety disorders) and they are so emotionally distressing it regularly drives people to suicide. these thoughts include pedophilia, incest, extreme violence, etc. people suffering from them are LEAST likely to do ANY of these things, since theyre fucking terrified of being/doing any of these things, and thus overcompensate by avoiding any and all things that might possibly trigger them.
They're not quirky thoughts that "win you over". if my intrusive thoughts ever "won" i would kill myself immediately after. what most people are referring to when they say this phrase are impulsive thoughts. mixing the two up contributes to and has already furthered stigma around intrusive thoughts — it implies that we secretly have a desire to do these things (EXACT opposite of what intrusive thoughts are) & causes people to treat PEOPLE ACTUALLY SUFFERING FROM THEM like freaks & horrible people when they desperately need help. it's just so so harmful please do not use that word like it's something quirky
