Oxventure Finale Spoilers

If Corazón did die and not get resurrected after divining in front of Merilwen to protect her, do you think you would have written or drawn some angsty piratewoods stuff? You're like the biggest piratewoods fan I know, so I'm curious how you would have reacted (and honestly reacted in general).

THAT IS. A FANTASTIC QUESTION TBH. And aw 🥺 Biggest piratewoods fan you know? (<- this is not surprising I am deeply dedicated to their love. And same back at you, we are 🤝)

I am not generally big on angst. I like writing it more than I like reading it, certainly, but it is just not my forte XD However. Looks at Wither and Bloom. Clearly I do have exceptions for the Oxventure D&D finale already, so I think yes, I would!

As is, I think about Merilwen absolutely destroying Liliana for killing Corazón like… fucking constantly. It’s such an incredible moment, I think it really is so peak Merilwen - She’s emotional, ruthless, a fighter, but it’s because she cares so deeply for the people she loves. The fact that she is the one to bring him back really gets me too (even if I kind of hate that he becomes a tortle. Sorry. I love tortles and I think it was a funny moment of everyone avoiding bringing it up but I’m so attached to him as a pretty boy 😭), I think that entire sequence was really lovely. He dies in her arms. She kills for him in one of the most brutal sequences in the entire series. She brings him back from the dead. POETIC CINEMA

Sorry this isn’t what you asked, you asked my reaction if he perma-died fhdksgdkdh WELL. I have no clue. For my writing - probably would have ignored it, I’m an Alternate Universe - Everybody Lives bitch XD But I think it would have made a lot of sense for his character. Corazón is really perfectly set up for a heroic sacrifice, just in general, and it was such a beautiful moment where Corazón jumps in front of her without thinking about it for a moment. It would have been a really heart-wrenching end to his character, but I think it fits his narrative

And for the piratewoods side of it - God, that would destroy Merilwen, and I do think that would be so fun as a story. So much of her character is based on the fact that she lost Simon, she really struggles with mortality and the fact that the people she cares about can die. She isn’t afraid of death, certainly, she isn’t shy about killing people, but that’s because they threaten the people she loves. Being the direct cause of one of her loved one’s death? Someone sacrificing themself for her? Well, we saw her reaction. She fucking lost it! She absolutely slaughtered Liliana and weeped over Corazón’s body! There is sooo much potential there for Merilwen wrestling with her conflicted feelings.

Realistically, how can you be upset with someone for dying for you? He gave up everything for her. But she would be, I’m sure she would. Corazón knows - knew - how much Simon’s death (and later, grave defiling) devastated her, but he goes and dies on her watch anyway, right there in front of her. She’d be pissed, and she would feel awful for being pissed, for being mad at this stupid self-centered and annoying man who … who gave his life for hers. GOD. It’s so good 😭 Maybe I should write a fic actually XD

Anyway. I would have been even more abnormal about it than I already am 👍‼️ I don’t talk about that scene half as much as I think about it, but rest assured, it is always on my mind
