Bollywood Movies Part CLX

Praful Patel (Kangana Ranaut) goes to Las Vegas, where in her first game of Baccarat she wins big. After this, she continues to play, losing numerous games before a loan shark (Jason Louder) gives her money. In order to repay the loan shark, she begins robbing banks around her home, Atlanta.

Simran is very good in the first half, but the second half seems at odds with itself because the story and mood the director goes for are highly contradictory. I love Kangana as Praful, but that is not enough to save this movie. If only the movie hadn’t decided to make the tone comic as Praful descends into crime. Favorite songs are Pinjra Tod Ke and Lagdi Hai Thaai. Neither song has subtitles.

Gopal (Ajay Devgn), Laxman 1 (Shreyas Talpade), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), and Laxman 2 (Kunal Khemu) all grew up in Jamandas’s (Uday Kikekar) orphanage. When he suddenly dies, childhood friend Anna Mathew (Tabu) enlists their help to keep the orphanage as it is because they are the only ones who can also see the ghost of Khushi (Parineeti Chopra) who died that same night as Jamandas.

Golmaal Again is a great addition to the Golmaal franchise. Better than the last installments, mostly because of the lack of romance, the movie is a great silly movie. It gave me everything I expected and Tabu was wonderful in her role as a medium. Some of the gags felt a little overused, but it was overall a very fun comic supernatural film. Prakash Raj and Neil Nitin Mukesh were also fantastic as Vasu Reddy and Nikhil. Favorite songs are Maine Tujhko Dekha (a remake of Neend Churai Meri from Ishq which is itself stolen from Sending All My Love by Linear) and Hum Nahi Sudhrenge. Neither song has subtitles.

Akash (Puneet Rajkumar) enters an arranged marriage with Anjali (Parvathy) after having his heart broken by Priya (Pooja Gandhi). On their wedding night, Anjali insists they get divorced, as she is in love with Hemant (Dileep Raj). Akash agrees, but when they go to the divorce lawyer, they learn it will take at least six months before it can be finalized. Meahwhile, Akash helps Anjali look for Hemant and they become friends.

TW for movie: attempted suicide. Milana is a great romance that is also Parvathy’s Kannada debut. The romance itself is a slow burn, but it’s worth it.The b storyline involving a local beggar and the apartment manager is also hilarious. Puneet Rajkumar is quite good as Akash. Favorite songs are Madarangiyalli, Kaddu Kaddu, and Kivi Mathu. None of the songs have subtitles.
