I just listened to the Mr. Jones episode of Punch Up the Jam as recommended by several people and it sucked. the host didn't let Chris Fleming (the ostensible defender of the song invited to discuss it) get a word in edgewise, she was continually cracking jokes that wouldn't get over two digits on twitter and also constantly missing the actual bit setups Chris was trying to provide for her, and then they had a guest segment in which the writer wrote a few paragraphs about how he was mad he missed doing the Kate Bush episode and then recommended an unrelated song. 40% of the runtime was dedicated to the host laughing (by herself) at mostly her own jokes. the rest of it was the host saying the song was bad in various ways (completely fair) but without any analysis (boring) and then there was a jokey cover of Mr. Jones by someone doing a Tom Waits impression. really disappointing! either take criticism seriously or don't, I'm not here for the parasocial variety hour starring Chris Fleming not being allowed to speak and then a bunch of people I don't care about not actually engaging with the material!!!
