Okay I'm doing it. I'm chapter 96 posting.

This is not meant to be a big analysis post this is mostly just me sharing all the little moments that Marcille & Laios show their care for each other because they are SO beloved to me. Join me on the journey if you wish.

(but also the above statement may be a lie. I do have a point here, it turns out, and the point gets at some of my Big Feelings of what Dungeon Meshi has to say about the nature of friendship & living in the world)

So, first of all, the conversation about Laios being king at the start of the chapter. Just in general Laios insisting on presenting himself in his own way here is so good. Character development!!

Before the events of the story he hadn't shared his inner world with anyone but Falin. Now he's like Actually I'm gonna dress up in the discarded remains of my monstersona and that's just how it is.

And even though there are a LOT of parts of the story and bits of character growth that go into this, I think it specifically highlights some interactions from a few chapters ago.

After all, his initial reaction to having been in that monster form & coming out of it was trying to hide from everyone.

And I think everyone helping him put things in perspective here contributes to how he is able to present himself as king. They assure him that he is accepted, despite having just been seen by EVERYONE at his Peak "Weird Monster Guy" mode.

Highlighting what Marcille says here especially:

Going out to "face them with a smile" is EXACTLY what he does. Not right away. He's still pretty stressed in the following scene in this chapter. But he is able to face the crowds with a smile, eventually...

As king. Dressed in the memory of his most vulnerable moments, the most honest expression of his desire.

BUT I'M GETTING A LITTLE AHEAD OF MYSELF. Before the King Laios speech, there's a little moment with Marcille I want to highlight, because...

Did y'all know that by the end of the manga, Marcille isn't like... grossed out by eating monsters any more? Or at least, she's definitely changed her reaction to it. It's Namari who makes the "yeah it smells good despite what it is" comment, not Marcille.

We even get shots later of Tansu, Shuro, and Kabru being kinda grossed out by - but still going ahead and eating - the different Falin foods. Chilchuck also throws out a line about it being surprised that it's good.

But there's no disparaging comment from Marcille, despite the Everything of the situation. I just think that's also a nice little detail. She may not be as far in the monster eating game as Laios, but she's more willing to roll with the weirdness.

So after this little moment, this is when Laios comes out in his new regal outfit. And first of all...

This is such a good contrast to the moment when the group goes to save Marcille in chapter 84. The monsters had stopped attacking, and everyone's reactions to Laios and the others framed him as unsettling. Creepy. Maybe even traitors.

They even use some of the same labels (lord of the monsters/lord of the dungeon, dark lord/demon king)., but the context is that they are disgusted. The parallels in this manga....

Have a tendency to destroy me. What a difference in reception.

Anyway, after this moment, Laios stops to talk to the group... and I'd like to point out again: MARCILLE ISN'T FLIPPANT HERE EITHER!!

Chilchuck is still Chilchuck, of course, and I want to be clear I love that, too. Chilchuck is who he is to his core. His little jabs are very affectionate in this chapter.

But Marcille... Marcille only points to the Winged Lion symbol as being weird, not the monster bits. And like, considering what she's just been through with the lion, being skeptical of that part is... fair.

(don't get me wrong, her "that's fine and all" isn't exactly excitement. BUT the point I'm trying to make is less about her completely changing her feelings & preferences. It's more about how she expresses them, and how she treats Laios and HIS feelings & preferences)

And she continues to be so encouraging!! Wah!! Like, despite, all four of these people definitely caring about Laios, it's Marcille specifically who tells him to relax and just be honest. And you know what? I think that's what Falin would have said, too.

Please also note how cute everyone's little faces are in the crowd:

Laios' short speech actually has a little bit I'd like to highlight as well, since I think it is a nice little reflection of his choice to keep the lion insignia on his new outfit:

"Eat to your heart's content," he says. Not just "enjoy," or "let's eat."

Dunmeshi does such a wonderful job of framing so much about the Winged Lion with nuance, and this is a good example of that. Desire is not bad! Craving and consuming is beautiful. As Laios says when explaining the lion insignia...

It's not just something to get rid of.

So then... on to the feast!

And not only does Marcille not express any grossed out feelings, as I mentioned before... she even helps to gross out Chilchuck!!

Her weird girl powers are only just in their infancy. She will only grow more powerful in time...

As the feast goes on of course we get the group's realization about her hair, and I'd like to point out:

I really feel like they have such similar reactions to finding out about how the other has been affected by the Winged Lion

Just... the quiet concern. Not making a huge fuss, but... worried. Understanding. A little heartbroken for each other.

SPEAKING OF HEARTBROKEN REACTIONS THOUGH. WHAT COMES NEXT REALLY GETS ME.

After Chilchuck braids Marcille's hair for her, the topic of her needing to leave everyone comes up and...

God, these expressions. Every Time I see these panels I think about about what Laios saw in her nightmare. Her fears. The weight of inevitable loneliness, and the way it has marked her. As much as Marcille tries to keep things light when talking about it, he knows what this means to her. And it HURTS.

So he doesn't accept it. But do you notice how he frames this. Do you see. Not "do you want me to fix this." Not "hey I have an idea."

"Would you be willing to stay."

He doesn't know whether she will accept. Whether she will hate the idea, actually, of staying here with him. He's putting himself out there fully prepared for rejection & dismissal, as he has faced many times before.

But his pitch, his proposal to her, it's not JUST an excuse to ask her to stay, either. He's put thought into this. Into what Marcille could mean and do here. Not just to and for him, but for the people of this area. The place he has taken responsibility for.

He's also thinking about Falin. And about all the other little girls, the people of all sorts, just like her. He's thinking about the people who have been killed (burned at the stake???), hurt, shunned. About the people who have been abandoned. The people who are still alone.

He's not just offering Marcille an out from her isolation, he's offering her a new purpose. A new way to continue her work, to do the things she cares about. He SEES her! he understands her.

BUT ALSO HE'S SO NERVOUS OUGH. FIDDLING WITH THE PLATE. UNSURE IF SHE WILL CARE. UNSURE IF HE HAS IT RIGHT.

HE'S NOT GOOD WITH PEOPLE HE'S NOT GOOD AT THIS.

BUT THEY UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. AND SHE WANTS THIS LIFE HE'S OFFERING HER.

Still... it's not that simple for her, even if for a moment she is swept up in how much she wants this.

Again here, Marcille is working so hard to be chill about the whole 'going west with the elves' thing. She looks absolutely devastated in the first panel, but puts on a smile in the second.

Maybe she doesn't want to bring down the mood. Maybe she doesn't want to burden everyone with what seems like the only option she has. Maybe she had already accepted the cost that might come with bringing Falin back. Maybe after everything with the Winged Lion, she doesn't want to risk letting herself fight for her desires too hard.

But hey. Desires aren't always bad. They aren't something to just get rid of.

A small bit of visual storytelling here... I love that Marcille is confined by the panel, but Laios is stepping outside of it. He's literally pulling her outside of the box she feels trapped in.

Also, I love that his first acts as king are:

1) welcome everyone to a big feast

2) stand by his friend and help her find happiness

It's great stuff and it's so Laios.

In addition to that, I love how this whole act actually plays out. I love that, while getting the elves to let Marcille go, he gets to be extremely cool and protective...

but also like. Not THAT cool and protective.

No really, I mean it! I think it's important! It's important that cool 'suave king guy Laios' is a front he puts up when he needs to deal with these strangers, and one that he completely drops once it's just him and Marcille.

He's not trying to impress her, or convince her he's cool and suave. Why would he? He trusts that she's okay with the messy, often unimpressive, sometimes kinda gross reality of who he is.

And isn't that what Dungeon Meshi is all about? Messy, unimpressive, gross reality. And how beautiful, how wonderful, how very precious it is

Especially when you get to share it with your friends.

Ok I know this is not the f/o or s/i you are focusing on right now but I’ve been getting back into dreamlight valley and they recently added monsters inc and that made me wanna know more about your monsters inc sona!! Is she a scarer? If so how does she scare (like how sully uses his roar or how randal can camouflage)?? How did she and randal meet?? 👀👀👀🍿🍿🍿

So far since I been bouncing around ideas about this is that the one I like the most is having Lizzy (my monstersona) work in the Receiving Station of transporting the energy from the canisters at MI, where she accidentally runs into Randall one day when he was working at MI and the company was using scream energy. Due to the canisters leaking scream in the past a few times, she became hard of hearing, so she comes off as a ditz, with gave her the nickname “Dizzy Lizzy” in the company (and fun fact this is an actual nickname that my family gives me irl so I might as well use it here lol). At first her clumsiness and being absent minded annoyed Randall whenever they crossed paths, but he eventually warmed up to her since she tends to stroke his ego, mostly because she’s a people pleaser. Eventually they both meet again once Randall comes back from being banished and he starts to mess with the canisters, but not before tricking my sona into allowing him to do so (mostly by flirting).

im going to talk about ralsei for a second bare with me

out of all the main characters in deltarune he's my favorite little scrungly. when i first played the game i liked him because he looked cute and mysterious and was funny. but there is obviously more to this little guy...

so!! after waiting in castle town for who knows how long, probably (definitely) alone if not for, i don't know, gaster telling him things from behind trees (total crack theory), he doesn't have ANY social skills and zero empathy. this doesn't make him inherently evil, he just has a harder time relating to people and that makes it hard for him to be friends with people.

his "purpose" is to assist the lightners in sealing fountains and banishing angels and he also has to be friends with them. he assumes to make friends you just have to be nice, but to him being nice is just acting out a script. he's saying "the good sentences". so when he's in an uncomfortable situation (after the sneo fight) he just says whatever works best for him, "don't think about it". this obviously doesn't work and susie manages to atleast calm kris down because she's a level 100 emotional intelligence master but atleast he tried i guess.

you could read this as him trying to disregard kris's feelings so that the player is happy and i guess it could be true but uuuuuuuhhhhh ummmmmmmm i just don't like that theory

there's evidence that he could know kris and the soul are different entities but i don't think he has any malicious intent he's just serving the lighner. at some point he could have to choose whether to side with the cool entity from super heaven or his friend kris. and i hope he leaves us in a mud puddle

enough about the player let's talk about noelle

noelle is extremely good at casting spells, she can cast heal prayer which is just as good as ralsei's and sleep mist which is better than ralsei's pacify because it works on multiple enemies instead of just one. and of course she's better than him at attacking (...everyone is) but in a SCARY way. one day he's probably going to feel like his friends don't need him anymore because noelle can already heal and pacify and she's even better than him, and they can seal fountains just fine without his help, and noelle knows how to be friends with people, and she's nice, and she can bake, and

while i want them to be friends i know he's going to feel left out if she joins the party long-term. the three already know eachother, meanwhile he just popped into their lives a few days ago. and he's been a paperweight the entire time. he probably feels left out already, kris and susie are friendlier with eachother, susie still thought he was weird the other day, kris probably still does, as soon as they find a better healer they'll leave him and have every reason to do so

he's very against violence but will do everything kris (...the player) tells him and i think this absolute obedience is another reason why kris doesn't like him that much. i also think the fact that they met two days ago is another reason why they're not already best buds. maybe when ralsei finds out they opened a fountain he's going to finally get mad at them and kris will appreciate that they're not being treated like a god anymore

ralsei is especially friendly with kris and wants their approval in every situation (what happens if you say mean things to him in the acid tunnel of love??? well the results are shocking) and it would make sense if it was because he was kris's old pair of red horns they might have lost in the closet. some people think he's the missing crayon but there's no emotional connection to that crayon so it would be less shocking

i don't think he's asriel and i don't think he's related to kris in any way (it would make a lot of their interactions very weird), he's probably meant to represent what kris wants to be, or what kris feels they should be, or just their monstersona lol

his friendship with susie is the best thing on planet earth and they're so funny together. at first you could see susie as a bad influence on him but she's NOT!!!!!!!!!!! she's teaching him that there's more to friendship than just being nice and that he can't just be kind to everyone and it's very very important and without her he wouldn't be as cool. and he's teaching susie that people DO want to be friends with her, he thinks she's sooooo cool and just cause she's scary (just cause she's a monster) it doesn't mean people shouldn't like her.

another important thing to note is that nobody aside from the fun gang (and noelle, barely) has ever so much as acknowledged his existence. the other darkners respond to him but only if he speaks first, and queen didn't even know there was another guy. he is alone forever and always

let's go back to the prophecy, he could straight up just NOT be the prince of the dark. the drawing doesn't match him in the slightest, he did wear a hood at first, but those weird shoes are only seen in his mafia outfit. but it's definitely also not lancer. lancer is the jack of spades and has never been called a prince the prince of spades straight up does not exist it could be someone else but not lancer (and then in chapter 5 they're going to prove my theory wrong i bet)

also he seems to be the only one to know about the prophecy (queen didn't even know about the roaring smh my head) but he assumes everyone knows. he probably has some other arcane secret knowledge that he just assumes everyone knows

about the difference between lightner and darkner merch i think it's because lightners are meant to be real ass people and you just... can't buy merch of real ass people. ralsei has so much merch because he's literally made to be blorbo so that the lightners can like him. put him in a cute outfit and leave him on a shelf he was made for this he was made for you

aside from all this cool lore stuff HE'S JUST SILLY!!!!!! his glasses are silly his attempts at being hip with the lightnerz are silly the things he says are silly HE'S MY LITTLEGUY!!!!!!

and if he becomes evil I'LL GET OVER IT AND DRAW HIM BEING EVIL!!!!!!!

KILLER STYLE – Veil, many veils, and more veils ! With boreal colours, which give a touch of chillness into my fashion sense !

THANK YOU FOR ASKING 2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs? Probably Blake at this Moment! Blake is my Half-Minotaur OC because basically all my fuckin OC's are/were D&D characters. She's my 7'6" stronk farm gal and I love her dearly, and like now she has multiple continuity's because I wanted her in more stuff. She's a herbo and like i just love her very much 10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design? Ooooo, My Monstersona Meduka! She's got Pink/Magenta skin mostly, except for her forearms which are scaly and pale cyan. She's got four hands, but two of them aren't attached, they just float around her. Those ones have human skin, and she's very dodgy on if they actually are hers (they are, the ones that are attached are actually the ones that aren't). The ones attached to her arms are webbed, and designed for the water. She has Magenta Irises, and Yellow scleras. She wears a sweater dress with a heart shaped tiddy window, and a heart choker. She has purple and white tentacles for hair that hang down to right above her shoulders. I honestly wanna make more stuff with her because like she was from when I was big into reclamation of monstrous imagery, and like honestly I wanna get back into that shit. 24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why? Toughie, but I'd say either Blake or Full Screen (she's the TV headed one with the yellow jacket and black pants). Blake (specifically Blake Prime because like at this point she's basically an imaginary friend) I'd wanna see because she's just like. Really sweet, and gives the best hugs in the universe. Plus like. I can have little a simpage, as a treat. Full Screen I'd wanna meet because like she'd probably be the most interesting of my OC's to talk to, like with her experience as a shape shifting swarm of nanobot's from a cyberpunk dystopia who then like found a weird portal to like the astral plane but for the internet but also like physical and real. Plus she'd probably share some nanobots with me so I could shapeshift too. 25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?) The cheat but technically , Super ancient OC, like my fifth art I ever posted on Tumblr old, Faeth, who was just 15 year old me with goop based superpowers, but like I said a cheat answer. (So is Faith the wizard, and I also count Iuna as a cheat answer too) As far as not just "Me But..." answers, probably Lavender the Bunny clown as far as personality goes, she just like is me by 20% more clown and a bnnuy. As a fan of both Monster prom and EGS it is my solemn duty to try to give characters from it a monstersona (I mean not really, but i will anyway because i want to):

Tedd: Either a Fae or Genie. (It is so hard for them to be restrained with all that magic, you have no idea.)

Elliot and Ellen: Golem. (Started as one big golem but were separated into two smaller ones.)

Nanase: Kitsune. (It's almost painful how obvious this one is.)

Sarah: Witch. (Dream of someday joining in the adventures of The Coven. Might have a lot of fanart about it.)

Susan: Monster Slayer with faint traces of elf. (She prefer not to talk about either of those things.)

Diane: Half-elf. (Found out recently. Half freaking out. Half think is awesome.)

Ashley: Angel. (Very low ranking. Constantly thinks she is gonna fall. She is probably right.)

Grace: Is the only one who is completely human. (I think that would be very funny.)

Very good options. I headcanon'ed Elliot and Ellen as dragons (because DRAGON SISTERS!), but golem works pretty well too, and I figured Susan for a werewolf because of the card game arc. Also yes Ashley is VERY much going to fall. Harder than Azazel if that's possible. (Damien would be super supportive of her kinky nonsense stories fwiw and would be her most outspoken fan)

Also: -Justin is fae, claiming descent from the Tuatha. -Lucy is an oni. -Rhoda is a sorceress. -Catalina is a catgirl and might be related to the Oberlins. Distantly. -Tensaided is a MINOTAUR HECK YEAH -Sensei Greg is Sensei Greg. okay, so here’s my Gamer Theory *youtuber voice*: so i’m firmly a believer that ralsei is 100% related to kris, more specifically kris’s anxieties of being the only human in their family and wanting to fit in as a monster. other people have theorized that ralsei may be the green crayon, or the red headband. i personally think the last one is more likely, but ultimately may be a redherring, (i can easily see the headband appearing later on, “disproving” the theory). but imo both elements are connected: i think ralsei is a drawing.

first the crayon labels that "have long faded" and the "old papers" in the supply closet may be connected. i'm mostly shooting in the dark here, because, you know, two chapters out of seven, but the buildings of castle town seems a bit paper-like to me, my impression is that these papers are from the time kris was a small kid. ralsei being kris’ old OC monstersona where they projected their desire to be just like the other members of their family. 

color-wise: the reason the green crayon is missing is because kris used all of it to color ralsei's clothes. the reason that ralsei has pink horns unlike the "red headband", has eyes with the same pink unlike kris' red eyes, and has a "red scarf" despite being another shade of pink may have been simply artistic liberty or there just wasn't a red crayon available for some reason. how many times as a kid one had to do with just the materials available? something like that

the long-theorized anagram name: so in another post i not-so-seriously-maybe said that when noelle "recognized" ralsei in the dark world she didn't recognize asriel or toriel or asgore but rather, ralsei the monster oc that kris used to draw as a kid. with the over-present running gag of the dreemurs being bad at naming stuff, how does kris come up with the name? by mixing up their brother's name on one of ice-e junior jumbles.

some random miscellaneous thoughts that i don't know how to expand but i think are worth mentioning: - this could "explain" kris supposed ambivalence towards ralsei in the game: if they at some point accepted that they never could be a monster/they would never fit with their family in the way they wished, looking at him may not bring the best memories, especially if ralsei is from a pre-certain traumatic incident.

- but why do ralsei and kris uses different pronouns? this is when an already off-the-rails theory goes off-the-rails and if i may speculate, maybe all of this was done before kris figured out their gender. i don't know if mr toby fox has any plans of exploring kris' transness furthermore in the story, but the transgenderizer blue dress already made an appearance in deltarune alongside ralsei, so anything is possible.

- even if the dark world version of ralsei's change at the end of chapter 1 can be explained with his magic hat or so, that difference can also be explained in the light world version: what does a kid do to a drawing if they are angry at the results, didn't like it, etc? they scribble all over it. hence chapter 1 ralsei.

- similarly, what is under all the robes and scarf in ralsei's defeated sprite? maybe eraser dust

- a lot of people draw college asriel wearing these round nerd glasses, probably with the assumption that ralsei represents their brother but based on the aforementioned theory that he is instead an idealized version of younger kris: i think "wears embarrassing glasses and ditches them once they become a teen" fits kris' attitude much more.

- ralsei's manual shows various drawings that he made of himself, presumably. just thought that was funny.

- is not a secret that UT and DR borrow heavily from the MOTHER series and so far i believe the dark worlds are inspired by magicant from the first two games. in the first game magicant being a little escapist paradise that the party can travel and end up being a fabricated world in someone else's memories, and in the second game being a fabricated reality in ness' inner mind. on this one, there's a little bit where a younger ness meets his older counterpart and seems a bit disappointed by how more serious he seems, and that he doesn't have any time to play anymore. the theme of "more cheerful idealized version of the protagonist meets an older counterpart who seems a bit more jaded than before" can be at play here.

-you know how kris knows to play the piano, and "my castle town" seems a more piano-based song than the rest of the ost? yeah

- the last thing and if all this rambling turns out to be true, that could mean that the whole dark fountains adventure started with a drawing, so. thematically, that may resonate with how (if we go by the prequel interpretation) the last remnant of the deltarune universe as seen in sans undertale lab is a poorly drawn picture, but this time of three smiling people, instead of just one kid who just wants to fit in.

Sunflower (S) - Monstersona

Personality: She is a sweet person who avoids eye contact whenever possible. Because she is so sweet and considerate, which irritates her to no end. She has a good temper, but if you push her too hard, she will give you the cold shoulder and the silent treatment. She enjoys horror movies and horror games, which no one expects of her. She spends most of her time writing and reading, as well as sewing. She enjoys listening, adores children, and enjoys assisting others whenever possible. She also enjoys animated television shows and movies.

Appearance: Sunflower is a flower monster who also has a bit of a combined form of a rabbit monster. She's about 5'1". She has a brownish pelt with hazel (also turns blue/purple) eyes. She has fur that mimics hair that is a bit curly/wavy.

Her fur, however, seems to also be leaves. She has vines wrapped around her ears with lilies (purple and white) and sunflowers (yellow) growing on them. She also has vines around her waist and legs with sunflowers and lilies growing on them. When injured, her body comes apart like a cutting a bunch of vines. It also grows back and repairs itself.

Inktober Day 1- Monstersona

Hello everyone! sorry about the lack of posting lately,  been kinda working through some art blocks and personal problems lately so haven’t really been able to draw as much as I’ve wanted to.  But with Inktober coming around and actually having time to join in the fun decided to give it a go!  

And what better way to do that then use a prompt?  Although it doesn’t help that I usually draw myself as a invisibleman? type monster anyway so this started off as a good warm up for the month.

✨Persona Magic ✨

This has been sitting in my head for a while and I wanted to talk about it.  I want to talk about the idea of using a persona to cope with yourself, to better yourself, or to discover things about yourself.  We’re gonna call this persona magic from here on out.

✨So what is persona magic? In short, you create an idealized self, and you let yourself ‘become’ this entity in places like meditation, astral travel, dreams, or embody them in your magical space while awake if you need/want to.  And your persona doesn’t have to be a human for this!

Persona magic is a psychological and spiritual way of imbuing yourself with certain emotions or characteristics you might want for what you are doing.  For instance you can use it to empower yourself, or calm negative emotions and thoughts.  If you believe in the ‘raise power, send power’ practice of magic, this is a way to help raise power in yourself as well.

In your mind you become the persona, and through the persona you do what you need to do.  Me, personally, I take on my persona form when I do meditations, and I choose to make it my full time appearance online.  I’ve recently started experimenting with embodying it in my magical practice as well.  My persona makes me feel powerful, magical, and (perhaps the best part) alleviates my dysphoria, which often weighs heavily on me.  My persona helps my mind stay clearer.  Older personas of mine also lead to me realizing I was trans and understanding my transness.

✨ What did you mean by ‘your persona doesn’t have to be human?’ Exactly what I said!  If you don’t feel like a human represents you, don’t be one!  Your persona can be whatever you want.  You might’ve heard of various kinds of personas that aren’t human before, the most common being the fursona.  There’s also witchsona, monstersona, objectsona.  There’s so many kinds of personas, and you can pick any one of them to be you!

Take my persona, for instance.  I am a dragon with a human face.

If I had to put myself under a more specific label, I would call this my ‘monstersona’ I suppose, but since I choose to represent myself as this entity full-time online, I prefer the broader ‘persona.’  When I do deep meditation, I often look like this.  In fact, this form came to me in deep meditation!

Another thing worth mentioning about your persona:  It can change any time you want/need it to.  I have had multiple personas over my life, and who knows if the persona I have now will be my last one.  Your persona can be changed to fit what you want or need.  That’s part of what makes it so great.

✨ How can I use my persona in magic? As I mentioned previously, your persona’s main job is to imbue you with whatever emotions/thoughts you want/need for what you’re doing.  I suffer from dysphoria, anxiety, and doubt, so my persona is designed to alleviate these things.

Visualization and intent are a big part of magic.  Your persona can assist you in these things.  Your persona can be a sympathetic object, for instance, or represent the tools you want to use for a spell.

“What’s a sympathetic object?” you might be asking.  In short, a sympathetic object is something that represents something else-- in this case, the persona represents you.  According to Deborah Lipp in her book Magical Power for Beginners, that which is like the object (sympathetic) is the object where magic is concerned.  In the same book she explains that a way to make a spell more powerful is to layer it, aka adding more than one thing serving the same purpose to the spell.  So by visualizing yourself as your persona, you are layering yourself, adding two forms of you to the spell.  Remember, that which is like the object is the object in the realm of the spell, so your persona (which is like you) is you.

Your persona can also help you raise power.  In Lipp’s same book she talks about the process of casting a spell, which is broken down like this:

Focus your intention.

Create your connection.

Raise power.

Send power.

Finish the spell.

Raising power is the act of generating energy.  You can pull energy from several different sources, but one of the easiest sources is yourself.  If your persona makes you feel more powerful, you are likely tapping into power/energy you already had, but had cut yourself off from because of mental/emotional hang-ups.  You now have more power to use for magic!  And, potentially, a clearer pathway for that power to flow through you.

A very popular (and accurate) phrase in the magical community is that you don’t need a ton of tools to perform magic, you need intent.  Visualization is also a powerful tool in magic.  You can use your persona as part of your visualization work.  For example, let’s say I don’t have a ritual knife, but I want to do something where one would be good to have.  My persona has claws.  I can visualize my persona/myself using those claws to achieve the same effect as the ritual knife.

✨ How do I make a persona? There are two main ways to make a persona, which I refer to as ‘active creation’ and ‘organic creation.’  Active creation is where you sit down and consciously choose everything that goes into your persona.  This is how most people make them.  Organic creation is where you let the persona ‘come to you’ through a process, such as meditation or astral travel.  My persona is organic in this way, as I went into a deep meditation and and prompted my mind to ‘show me what I am.’  I didn’t pick a bunch of things I wanted it to include, I let it come to me all at once and I looked at it and figured out how it made me feel.  I’d highly recommend this method, as I personally feel a very deep connection to my persona as a result, but if you have trouble with meditation or visual thought, then an actively made persona is just fine!  The important thing is that you resonate with the form.

✨ What else can I do with my persona? Aside from being a magical tool, your persona can be used to help you cope with your feelings.  Like I’ve mentioned, I use mine to cope with my dysphoria, which can get pretty bad and can be triggered by pretty innocuous things.  Ever since I chose to represent myself with my persona online, though, I’ve found that my dysphoria is easier to manage and is triggered less.  You can use your persona to help alleviate anxiety or depression.  My previous personas were ‘reminders’ to myself of what I was capable of.  I would often tell myself, “If I can make a character who is like this, I can be like this.”  (There’s that sympathetic magic again.)

So my friend made an art account recently and she was tossing around names for it that suited her and also were DND inspired. She ended up with the name @.roobieholder and also created a little death kiss monster as her profile picture. Then she immediately turned to me and asked me to make a monstersona, so of course I obliged.

Here’s my monstersona, it’s a hashalaq quori with multiple eyes rather than a glowy hole. They look terrifying but they’re really just tired. Leave them be please.

So while a friend and I were watching the Fursona episode of Drawfee, she mentioned that I would get along well with the cast, since I was making a lot of the jokes that they make in the episode just before those in the show did (and I’d never seen it before). She then joked that I should’ve been part of the episode.

I joked that I couldn’t because I already had technically three fursonas: my monstersona, my actual fursona, and my protogen fursona. Her response was, “Well, what if you fused them?”

So I took that as a challenge.

I aspire to also have a fursona (and/or wc sona) and some sort of monstersona but that's heavily wip because I have a hard time making things that represent me without having them be vague af

On the topic of self insert characters, technically I put a little bit of myself into most every character I make (if not it's usually from something I've encountered irl. Write what you know eh?). So it's like i explore different facets of myself through various characters. During my formative years I was heavily influenced by the whole crowd who preached against self inserts and Mary sues etc, so I still get big shame if I do things like that (including sonas often) too bluntly? Or too obviously without them also serving as something else and not just me™ with a different flavor

Last time I've replied to a similar ask, I went with vague yet overly specific one liners, this time allow me to use one of the most abused and uncreative stratagems to describe a character, that iiiiiiis..... ✨TV Tropes✨!

Despite the general overuse though, I have to admit the site actually forces you to critically think about and ultimately deconstruct your OC at their basic core, so it's not completely useless. It also took me way longer than I want to admit, but at least I've had the opportunity to define a couple of things that have remained idle for too long. Also it allowed me to describe my son's without having to contextualize everything, because if I actually tried to I'd still be here writing synopsis after synopsis completely missing the point of the ask lol.

Anyway without any further ado ~

🍆 She fucks as well, but has an actual relationship with another character before the events with the Blot. I can’t tell you who they're, but they're a canon character too and you def don't expect them playing this role so the answer will shook you lol.

Monstersona: God, I wish that were me. Animalistic abomination. Voluntary Shapeshifting. Quizzical Tilt. Fully-Embraced F(r)iend. Occasional The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body. Phlegmings. Contextual Transformation Horror. Signature Roar, although I've yet to flesh it out. A nice combo of both Super-Persistent Predator & Suspiciously Stealthy Predator. Tribute to Fido, but we don’t talk about this.

Of course the list is in no way set in stone since I'm still working on most of them, so take it as it is, but be aware that changes may eventually happen, especially in the name department.
