i dont write these ever but: personal discourse with pm games and its community

read at your own discretion, this is a long bout of whining

ive come to the realization just recently, but ive finally noticed why im so defensive about lobcorp and why im so resentful of the majority of the pm community

its because i originally got into project moon solely FOR lobcorp. i never once thought project moon would be so grand, or get so big, after lobcorp. i got into the series because i wanted something to play, and lobcorp scratched that itch at that moment

im not trying to be elitist and say, “oh how i got into it is the right way! you guys arent enjoying this the way its meant to be” because thats not my point anymore. people in the pm community are after different things and ive finally come around to understanding it now

its just that i feel so heartbroken when something as inconspicuous as lobcorp is merely written off as “just a hurdle of writing that you get past to understand the story later on”. it feels like people entirely miss how detached its meant to be from the other games

it feels like people treat it as something lesser than itself by stripping away everything that its supposed to be, or is of substance to the game, and comparing whatever left of it is relevant to later series. which, imo, is doing the game a HUGE injustice solely because “peak writing” succeeds it

and while that may be true, thats like tunnel-visioning yourself till its laser-focused. people stop enjoying the game because its PROJECT MOON, not LOBOTOMY CORP or LIBRARY OF RUINA

their expectations completely strip away the identity of the game and that fact alone annoys me. theres nothing wrong with them wanting nothing but the writing out of it; maybe they want to understand a future game better, thats perfectly fine by me. theyre getting what they want out of the game, which is what i want

i just dont like people who DONT view it as something important and trash it, but still believe themselves a connoisseur of the series because they skimmed a video on its lore since it was “as much of a snoozefest as the gameplay”, so they understand almost nothing about its story or what is relevant to where

im going to end this here and say that, even though ive written this much, i still dont quite have everything i wanted said yet and i even had to do a few rewrites, but. once again:

im tired of people who view them as “other project moon games”. theyre their own products. you dont have to enjoy them, but that doesnt give someone the right to say that you shouldnt be playing it just because “library of ruina is peaker and retains the best aspects of lobcorp” or “limbus is more refined, why arent you just playing that?”

im sick of lobcorp being written off as “just part of the project moonverse”, then being compared to newer installments. the “better games”, which dont even follow the same gameplay premise as the last, yet people turn a blind eye to just because of the hype
