“So…” you said, twirling the straw of your milkshake, your eyes constantly darting from your milkshake up to Tara who was seated across from you with her own milkshake.
You continued to play with your straw, unsure on how to broach the subject. You had been meaning to bring it up for a while but there was the whole Ghostface attack, then you were injured, and then you were avoiding everyone, there was just never a good time. You knew currently wasn’t the most ideal time, but it was the best time to come up, Tara and you were done with the semester, a whole day earlier than Chad and Mindy since you just didn’t have class the next day, you and Tara were both going to therapy and slowly dealing with the Ghostface stuff, and you were slowly falling back into a normal pattern with everyone. You had taken Tara out for celebratory milkshakes for (literally) surviving the semester.
“What?” Tara asked with a small smile, taking a sip of her milkshake but you could hear the nervousness as she lightly chuckled.
“At the potential risk of you getting mad at me,” you said slowly, watching as she slowly looked up from her shake, slightly narrowing her eyes at you, ready to yell at you for something you must have done. “Is there anything special you want to do for your birthday?” you quickly took a drink of your shake, peeking over the glass for Tara’s reaction.
Tara let out sigh, slumping back in the booth as it was her turn to play with her straw. She didn’t seem mad at your question which you were grateful for, you really didn’t want to say something to set her off. You didn’t know all the gritty details because she didn’t like to talk about them, but you knew Tara wasn’t a fan of her birthday. Tara’s birthday was a little over a week before Christmas and her dad had left during that time. Christmases had never been the same after that and you gathered from Mindy that they only got worse when Sam left a few years later, Christmas becoming almost nonexistent.
Mindy once explained that Tara tolerated her birthday after her dad left, she still had a party and cake but once Sam left it just became another day. You had only heard about her mother, and nothing had been good, you weren’t surprised that she never tried to do anything special with Tara. You wanted to do something special for her, but you didn’t want to push her away or do something that would only bring her more pain. Since Sam was back you weren’t sure if that changed Tara’s mind at all on birthdays or if she just wanted tomorrow to be another day.
“If you don’t want to do anything, it’s cool,” you said softly. You slowly reached across the table, your fingers grazing hers before she made the finale move to intertwine hands. “We can just hangout, watch movies, make out until Sam gets home and she throws me out,” you smirked.
Tara giggled at your joke, and you shyly smiled at yourself for that. Tara’s shoulders relaxed. She took another long sip of her shake, playing with the straw again as you patiently waited for her response.
“I don’t know,” she said, giving you a sad smile. “I haven’t done anything in years, I definitely don’t want anything big, but I don’t know.”
“Hey,” you whispered, tilting your head down to try and meet her eyes. “We don’t have to do anything big, it can just be dinner, it could just be movies and cake,” you chuckled, getting a small smile out of her. “If you want it to be just you and your sister, or you and the twins, or just the core four, then I’ll make myself scarce.”
“No,” Tara shook her head. You titled your head not sure what part she was saying no to or if she was saying no to the whole thing. “I want you there, no matter what we do.”
“Whatever you decide, I support.” You brought your intertwined hands to your lips, placing a kiss on her fingers. “What’s not up for debate though is me getting you a present.”
“No, you don’t have to, I don’t want you to waste-”
You quickly dropped her hands to point at her, making sure to put on your serious face. “It’s not a waste. Spending money on you is never a waste.” Tara smiled at your words but didn’t seem convinced. “Except for that god awful movie, you made me see over the summer.” Tara’s mouth dropped open. “I wish I could pay to have it erased from my brain.”
“It was a good movie!” Tara gestured widely, openly laughing at you.
“It didn’t have any explosions,” you fired back.
“So, the only way for a movie to be good is for it to have explosions?” Tara raised an eyebrow.
You shrugged. “It never hurts,” you mumbled. “It was so boring,” you sighed, dramatically throwing your head back against the booth. “All they did was talk!”
“It was a psychological thriller!” you cut her off by letting out a loud snore. “You’re an ass,” she threw her straw wrapper at you.
“And yet you love me.” You shrugged. “Maybe you need better taste in partners and movies.” She raised both eyebrows at you. “Wait…”
Tara shook her head, chuckling at you. “We can do something,” Tara said slowly. You could see the way she was thinking about the words as she said them, but you couldn’t help the way your eyes lit up.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” Tara nodded more to herself than to you. “Just something small.”
“Of course. Do you want to go out to eat or keep it at the apartment.”
“The apartment. If that’s okay?”
“Of course,” you smiled, taking her hand again. “It’s your birthday, we’re going to do whatever you want to do.”
You and Tara finished your shakes, not talking about birthday plans anymore. When you were all done you walked Tara back to her apartment. You would normally stay a little longer, but the sisters agreed to dinner once a week with just each other and tonight was that night.
“See you tomorrow?” she looked at you with wide eyes.
“Bright and early,” you smiled.
“Not to early,” she put a hand on your chest. “I want to sleep in.”
“Yes ma’am,” you saluted her.
She rolled her eyes at your ridiculous, lightly punching you in the shoulder. She leaned in, grabbing you by the back of the head as she gave you a long goodbye kiss. When she finally released you, she smirked at your dumbstruck state. She gave you a light push, gently closing the door on you as you just stared at her smiling.
You shook off the effects of her kiss a few seconds later. You stepped closer, leaning closer to the door to see if you could hear Tara still in the room. You waited another minute before bringing your fist up and lightly knocking. It wasn’t even a moment later before the door was being flung open and the person you were hoping for was standing before you.
“Ugh,” Sam groaned. “Why are you back?” she shrugged. She turned to yell back into her apartment, “Ta-” you quickly put a hand over her mouth, dragging her out into the hall.
“Sorry,” you whispered, looking back into the apartment as the door closed, making sure Tara didn’t hear or see anything. “I didn’t want Tara to hear,” you quickly took your hand away from her mouth and let go of her.
“I-” a hard slap to your face cut you off. Your head whipped to the side so quick, you were to stunned, you didn’t even say ow. You brought a hand to your jaw, as you slowly turned back to Sam, your mouth wide.
“Don’t ever touch me,” she stepped closer, pointing threateningly at you.
“Sorry,” you whimpered. “I-I-I just wanted to talk to you.”
“What?” she stepped back, crossing her arms.
You cleared your throat, shaking your head but still feeling the sting of your cheek. “Tara agreed to celebrate her birthday.” Sam’s arms relaxed, her eyes going wide. “She doesn’t want anything big just a little something here at the apartment. I was hoping maybe you could get the food?” Sam nodded; her mouth open but no words came out. “Great!” you smiled, completely forgetting Sam had slapped you. “Don’t worry, I’ll get the cake. Just make sure Chad and Mindy know?” Sam silently nodded again. “Great! Great, thank you.”
Sam stood there speechless for a moment, just looking at you. You were about to get concerned, you had never seen Sam like this, not even after you got stabbed for her. “Sorry for slapping you,” she finally said.
“I probably deserved it,” you shrugged. “You’ve been wanting to do that for a while, haven’t you?”
“Oh my god yes,” she sighed, making you chuckle.
“It was a good one,” you nodded. “My face still hurts.”
Sam gave a satisfactory nod before turning and opening the door again. “Goodbye.” She didn’t wait for you to respond before closing the door.
You nodded to yourself and then quickly ran home. You considered the whole day a success. Tara was going to get the birthday that she deserved, you would make sure of it, you got her a present you knew she’d love, and you were pretty sure Sam was starting to warm up to you. You just needed to wear her down a bit more, maybe save her life again, and before you know it, she’d be wanting to hangout. Okay, maybe that was farfetched but eventually she wouldn’t roll her eyes every time she saw you.
***********************************
The next day you woke up early, running to the grocery store to pick out a cake for Tara. It was last minute so you couldn’t get something crazy and custom, but you looked at the options they had. You stared at each cake for over a minute, contemplating which one would be best. Ultimately you decided on a basic yellow cake, white icing, and little balloons and flowers decorating the edges. You bought some blue icing and took off to the Carpenters apartment. It was after noon when you knocked on the door. Tara opened it, still rubbing her half-closed eyes.
“Morning,” you said, smiling and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek as you entered the apartment. She groaned in greeting before throwing herself face down on the couch.
You shook your head at her, laughing at your very much not a morning person girlfriend. You didn’t consider yourself a morning person either, but you would get up early if it meant coming to see Tara, even though you would usually pass out on their couch in less than an hour of being there. You got back to work, sitting the cake on the table, flipping open the lid and delicately began using the blue icing to write out ‘Happy Birthday Tara’. When you were satisfied with your work you gently closed the lid and put the cake in the fridge where Sam had cleared space.
You wiggled your way onto the couch with Tara instantly sitting up to cuddle into your side. You flipped on the TV silently watching random shows until Tara decided to join the rest of the world. When Tara woke up, she woke up, she was up and talking, listing off all the movies she intended to make you watch until dinner. And that’s how you spent the rest of the day, curled up watching movies until Sam got home then the twins arrived a couple hours later, letting out sighs of relief at being done with the semester.
It wasn’t much longer before the pizza arrived. The five of you gathered around the table, your arm constantly around Tara as all of you talked and joked. Sam even joined in, telling stories of babysitting all of them and all the trouble they tried to get into. You laughed along but mostly you watched, you watched the way Tara’s eyes crinkled as she laughed, she didn’t stop smiling the entire night. When you brought out the cake Tara’s eyes lit up, giving you a kiss as you sat it in the middle of the table. Sam got the candles, lighting them and they all watched as Tara blew them out. Chad didn’t wait for the candles to be pulled out before he grabbed a knife and began cutting the cake, taking an extra-large piece for himself.
When the night started to die down all of you gathered in the living room, putting Tara in the big chair so she was the center of attention as everyone gave her presents. Chad gave her a couple gift cards, scratching the back of his neck as he looked around, noticing everyone else got her actual gifts. Tara said it was fine though and he knew how much she loved gift cards. Mindy shoved her gift into Tara’s hands next, excitedly watching as Tara unraveled the gift.
“Oh my god!” Tara shouted, jumping up from her seat. She turned showing a framed poster of one of her favorite movies, signed by the whole cast.
“Can I claim best gift yet?” Mindy asked, leaning close to your ear.
“You wish,” you said, playfully shoving her back.
Sam shook her head, rolling her eyes as she watched you and Mindy as she handed Tara her gift. Tara had just gotten seated again but as soon as she tore through the paper, she was on her feet again. She turned the box around showing tickets to something. When you got a closer look, you noticed it was for a museum tour that was in town. It opened in a few weeks, but tickets had quickly sold out, Mindy and Tara had both tried to get tickets but were unsuccessful. It was a moving exhibit of a horror props and costumes from a bunch of different movies. The exhibit was making its way across the country and Mindy and Tara had both squealed when it was announced to coming to the city.
“Dammit,” Mindy whispered. “You may have won this one,” she pointed at Sam. “But I’m not even mad!” she broke out into a smile as Tara handed her one of the tickets.
“So, can your oh so amazing gift top this?” Tara teased, staring down at you.
You looked up at her, smirking as you shrugged. She was about to sit back down but you grabbed her hand, keeping her on her feet. You slowly pulled out a little velvet box as you got down on one knee. Everyone went silent, Tara bringing a hand to her mouth as tears pricked the edge of her eyes.
“No!” Sam shouted, jumping up from her chair, making everyone turn to her. Sam froze, her arm midair as if she were reaching out to stop you.
“I’m not proposing,” you sighed, rolling your eyes. Flipping open the box to reveal a gorgeous silver ring, with a singular blue stone in the center.
“Are you sure?” Mindy whispered.
You ignored Mindy as you stood up, gently taking Tara’s hand as you slipped the ring onto her right ring finger. “It’s just a ring, with your birthstone,” you smiled down at the ring, looking at the glimmering blue stone.
“It’s nice to know that’s how you’ll react if I ever propose though,” you said, shooting Sam a glare before laughing it off. You saw the ring and instantly knew it was Tara’s style, you only thought of getting down on one knee when you realized it would make Sam freakout and then you just couldn’t pass the opportunity up.
“If?” Tara questioned, starting to pull her hand away from you.
“When,” you corrected, tugging her hand back. “But I would rather graduate first unless you want me to propose? I can redo this whole thing,” you gestured around. You were joking but if Tara had said yes, you knew you would totally do it in a heartbeat, she was the love of your life and if she wanted you to propose while you were freshman in college then you would.
“I think after graduation sounds wonderful,” she smiled, pulling you in for a kiss.
She broke the kiss but kept you close, your heads nearly brushing together. She looked down, holding up her hand to get a good look at the ring. “I love it,” she whispered, pulling you in for another kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you whispered back.
“Thank you, for the best birthday ever,” she flung her arms around your neck, pulling you into a hug. You quickly wrapped your arms around her waist, hugging her back just as fiercely.

Baby's First Christmas

“Why do I have to dress up?” Jake asked for probably the thousandth time since Y/N pulled out the red santa suit, beard and hat.
“Because it’s Alex’s first Christmas and I want him to take a picture with Santa Clause,” Y/N said, curling her hair in the mirror. It was Christmas Eve and Y/N’s sister had invited the whole family to the house for dinner, drinks and gifts. It was Y/N and Jake's first Christmas as parents and she wanted it to be perfect. Alex was only seven months old so he wouldn’t be able to know if anything went wrong or not, but Y/N would know.
“And your dad or Carson can’t but on the ridiculous-”
“No! It has to be you!” Y/N sighed, putting down the hot iron, “Alex won’t sit on my dads or Kayce’s lap. You saw how he acted when we took her to see Santa at the coffee shop.”
“Well he was a bit-” Jake shut up when you gave him a glare through the reflection of the mirror. He knew better than to start an argument with Y/N. Over the past year, her sass started to shine through, and Jake was proud to watch her become more confident with herself. Jake opened his mouth to say something just as Alex let out a cry, “We’ll discuss later.”
Y/N smiled to herself as she finished getting ready for the Christmas party. When she walked out of the bathroom, to the living room of their small on-base house. It wasn’t anything special, but Y/N managed to decorate it to the nines. Jake wasn’t sure where she managed to find all this Christmas stuff, nor where she managed to store it. But it made her happy, and he’d do anything to make her happy.
Y/N’s heart warmed in her chest seeing Jake holding Alex and looking at the ornaments on the tree. Alex was Jake’s twin through and through with big green eyes and light blonde hair. It had been an amazing journey to see how quickly Jake took on to the role of being a father. It kept him up at night thinking about the type of parent he would be. Would he be like his father? Cold and detached, demanding the best of his children at all times. Would his child grow up to hate him for being gone because of the Navy? Would he be around long enough to see his children grow old and have their own children? For those nine months while Y/N was carrying Alex, Jake read every single parenting book he could get his hands on. He asked some of his commanders and warrant officers for advice. None of it really made sense to him, but when he saw his son for the first time, it all became clear.
“Momma is staring at us again,” Jake whispered to Jake and kissed his cheek. Alex placed both his slobbery hands on Jake’s cheeks, a big gummy smile on his face “You ready? It’s cold out, and I don’t want him to sweat in the car seat and then go outside. That’s how kids get sick.”
“I am ready,” Y/N nodded, “I just gotta get the baby bag, the gift for mom and dad, Carson and Jenny,  and the cookies for the kids.”
“All of that is in the car and it’s running,” Jake said.
“What would I do without you?” Y/N asked with a smile on her face. She leaned up on her tiptoes and kissed his lips, “Can you put him in the car seat? I’ll grab the Santa suit.”
Jake rolled his eyes as she skipped back down the hall towards the bedroom, “Your mom is crazy,” He whispered to Alex and the little boy turned to face his father, showing him a gummy smile. Rip smiled at his son, kissing his cheek again and then going to put him in the car seat.
The Parker house was decorated from floor to ceiling for Christmas. It was obvious where Y/N got her love and passion for decorating, and it came from her mother. The moment they opened the front door of the house, the scent of fresh baked gingerbread cookies and ham filled the air. Jake had never really cared for big family celebrations but ever since he started coming around the Parker family, he started appreciating them more and more. His family celebrations were always so stiff and about who could brag the most about their latest promotion or accomplishment. The Parkers were all about warmth and happiness about being around one another.
“You can put the Santa suit on after dinner,” Y/N said as they walked through the front door, “While we’re cleaning up and setting up gifts, it will be perfect.”
“Yeah,” Jake said as he set down the carseat.
“Aunt Y/N, you’re here!” Y/N’s nephew, Tate yelled running up to her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Hey bud,” Y/N kissed the top of his head, “Have you grown again?”
“Probably,” Carson said, and greeted you with a quick kiss on your head, “Wakes up five inches taller than the night before. Where's the little man?”
“Jake’s got him,” Y/N said, nodding her head over to the living room where Jake was taking Alex out of her car seat, and Clara waiting for her chance at baby snuggles, “She acts like she didn’t just see him yesterday.”
“You know how mom is with her grandkids,” Carson chuckled, “She might’ve gone a tad bit overboard with the Christmas gifts.”
“There’s my favorite daughter!” James said as he walked into the entryway.”
“I’m your only daughter,” Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, hugging her dad.
“Foods ready to be served whenever,” James said, clapping his hands together, “Where’s my grandson?”
Y/N was thankful to have her parents nearby and willing to help out with Alex. She knew that being in San Diego could change at a moment's notice, but she was going to soak up the time that she had here. Jake carefully watched as Clara handed his son off to James. Jake trusted the Parkers, but it was his inner father bear that had him watching every moment that Alex was in someone else's arms.
Slowly everyone made their way to the dining room table, which was decorated and covered with delicious food. Y/N knew her mom probably spent hours making everything and smacking her dad’s hands away from grazing on all of it while helping her. Jake helped pull Y/N’s chair out, while she got Alex situated in the highchair. Jake appreciated that James and Clara let the kids sit at the table with the adults. He knew that his parents would throw a fit if any of their grandkids tried to sit at the head table. The kids were always pushed into the kitchen, where one of the nannies his sisters hired would watch them, making sure they didn’t get too loud.
“So, Tate,” Carson said, taking a sip of his drink and looking up at Y/N with a glint in his eye. He knew of her plan to get Jake into the Santa costume and hopefully telling Tate outloud will help seal the deal, “I hear Santa is coming by.”
“He’s not real,” Tate answered and Jake looked at his wife with a shit eating grin, “I’m not five anymore.”
“See, he’s not five, and Alex is too-”
“You are putting on the damn Santa outfit,” Y/N harshly whispered to him, “If I have to stuff you in it myself, you’re putting it on.”
“I’d like to see you try,” Jake challenged and Y/N glared at him. Carson watched as the small stare down between his sister and Jake was broken up by Alex throwing a piece of bread on the floor. He could see that the whole Santa thing was somewhat bothering her, he knew her well enough to know how much Christmas means to her. Y/N had always been the one to hold onto those childhood dreams and fairytales a little bit longer than the average child. She still wished upon falling stars and believed in happy ever after.
“Act surprised when he gets here,” Carson whispered to his son, “For Alex.”
“Why?” Tate asked, “He’s just a baby.”
“Because it means alot to Aunt Y/N,” Carson said and then cleared his throat, “She really likes Christmas and wants things to be special for Alex.”
When everyone's bellies were full, the family retired to the living room, where they started opening gifts from the large pile underneath the Christmas tree. Y/N sat on the floor with Alex in her lap, helping him tear into the packages that Tate was handing them. He was having more fun sticking the wrapping paper in his mouth than trying to open the gifts. Both Clara and Jenny had their phones out making sure to take pictures to capture the moments. The men all sat back with drinks in their hands, talking about cattle and giving the occasional “oh that’s cool” when it was needed.
“Tate, why don’t you help Alex open the gifts from us,” Jenny said and moved down on the floor next to the kids, “Here, I’ll take him.”
“Thank you,” Y/N smiled at her sister-in-law. Y/N moved towards the couch where Jake was sitting, “I noticed you don’t have the Santa costume on,” She whispered to him.
“There’s no need to put the ridiculous suit on,” Jake said, sipping his whiskey, “She’s not going to remember it.” Y/N clenched her jaw as she looked at the ground, “She’s a baby. It can wait until-”
“It can’t wait!” Y/N yelled and the eyes of her family members looked at her. Y/N sucked in a breath to compose herself and stood up from the floor, “I’m sorry. It’s just. . . its tradition.”
“Y/N,” Jake called out to her, trying to grab her hand as she walked away. He sighed in defeat, running a hand over his face.”
“She believed in Santa until she was about fourteen,” James said quietly, “Might’ve been partially our fault. I suckered Ice into dressing up as Santa and coming to the house.”
Clara chuckled, “She probably knew he wasn’t real, but she’d always act surprised for the kids that were around. It’s just the type of person she is. She believes in things like the tooth fairy and Santa Claus and happily ever after. She has a fairytale soul.”
“I never realized how much it meant,” Jake answered, “I just thought it was something silly that she wanted to do for the kids.”
“Everything that girl does has meaning to it. She just doesn’t do things ‘just because’. You’ll learn that soon enough.”
“C’mere, Alex,” James reached for his baby grandson, “How are you this Christmas? How about we open this gift?” He reached for a box that was wrapped in Hawaiian christmas paper. Alex tore open the box, with help of course, and James lifted the lid, “Oh look, Alex! A pair of your very own aviators!”
Y/N was laying on her childhood bed, staring up at the ceiling where there was once glow in the dark stars that Carson helped her put up. James was livid and worried that they would pull the paint off the ceiling, but Carson assured him that it wouldn’t. The next person in this house who loved Christmas traditions besides you was Carson. The ten year age gap between the two of them, meant that Carson filled in the father figure role when James was gone on missions. There were some Christmases where James spent in the middle of the ocean. Carson would stay up to wrap Christmas presents with Clara, and would write in fancy handwriting ‘To who, from Santa’. He’d also eat the cookies, and leave “snowy” (which was actually flour) footprints by the fireplace as if good Ol’ Saint Nick had actually come down the chimney to leave gifts, even though they lived in southern California.
Y/N thought that overtime, her Christmas spirit would fade, but if anything it got stronger. Maybe it was because she had seen the ugly side of life, and craved the bright cheeriness that came with Christmas.
“Sweets?” Y/N heard Jake’s voice before she saw him. Y/N just sighed and listened to his footsteps walk over to you, “I’m sorry about the Santa stuff.”
“My dad tell you I believed in Santa until I was thirteen.”
“He said fourteen.”
“He’s a fucking liar. My cousin Zach told me on my thirteenth birthday that I can’t believe Santa was real anymore,” Y/N said and sat up from her bed, grabbing one of the stuffed bears on the bed and holding it in her lap, “I should be apologizing to you.”
“For what?” Jake asked, and sat next to her on the bed.
“I know the holidays aren’t your thing,” Y/N said and grabbed his hand. Her nervous habit was playing with his hands, “And I shouldn’t have pushed you so much into doing it.”
Jake smiled sadly at her, and grabbed her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing the back of it, “The holidays are my thing because they are your thing. They make you happy, and anything that makes you happy makes me happy. Besides, Alex seems to love it.”
Y/N giggled and shook her head, moving closer to her husband. He wrapped his strong arms around her body, “You’re right, Alex won’t remember this. He’s spending more time shoving wrapping paper in his mouth than knowing what's going on.”
“But we will remember,” Jake said and kissed her cheek, “We will remember Alex’s first Christmas and that’s what matters.”
“Thank you,” Y/N said, looking up at him.
“For what, sweets? I nearly ruined this shit.”
“For giving me the best Christmas present ever,” Y/N smiled up at him. He caressed her face and then placed a kiss on her lips. Y/N hummed into the kiss, and ran her fingers through his blonde locks. He moved Y/N in his lap, so she was straddling him, and he laid back against the bed. His hands roamed her body, going down to her hips. Their tongues moved against one another, Y/N being able to taste the whiskey on his tongue.
A knock on the door startled them as Y/N lifted her head up to see Jenny standing in the doorway, “Oh don’t stop on my account,” She had a smirk on her face and Y/N rolled her eyes, “But there’s someone here to see you.”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows and climbed off of Jake and the bed. Y/N walked down towards the living room and stopped in her tracks seeing,
“Santa?”
“Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!” Santa said, standing in the middle of the living room. Y/N looked at her sister-in-law and Jake.
“Your dad made a call,” Jenny smiled.
“Dad!,” Y/N looked at her father who just shrugged, holding out Alex. She grabbed her child and walked towards ‘Santa’ who was sitting on the couch. Jake looked a bit confused as Y/N gently placed Alex in Santa’s arm, Clara taking pictures of every single moment.
Jake walked over to James, who was standing in the background, “Who did-” Jake asked, but heard Santa speak again, “Iceman?”
James shrugged again, “He lost poker last week.”
Jake shook his head, and then walked towards his family. James  let out a breath in relief as he watched his family gather around to talk to “Santa”. Alex surprisingly didn’t cry when he was set on Santa’s lap, probably because he was too distracted by all the movement around him.
“Get together you three,” Clara said, grabbing Y/N’s phone from her, “I’ll take a picture.”
“Jake, sit on the other side of Santa’s lap,” Y/N said and he gave you a deadpanned look, “It’s for the memories, sweetheart.”
“Only for you, honey,” Jake gave her a fake smile as he carefully sat on Iceman’s other knee.
“Don’t break me Hangman,” Iceman whispered, “I can still make you run from here to North Island and back,”
“You wouldn’t-”
“It’s for the kid, don’t be a grinch! Smile!” Iceman said, looking towards Clara with the phone camera pointed at them.
“Okay, smile!” Clara said, “1. . . 2. . . 3!”
Y/N, Jake, and “Santa” smiled at the camera as Alex was still looking up amazed at Santa. Y/N took him from Santa’s lap and looked at the pictures her mother took.
“They’re perfect!” Y/N cheered, “Thank you so much, Santa.”
“No problem! Ho, ho, ho!” Santa said and James led him out the front door.
Jake put his arm around Y/N shoulders, “You know what they say about Mistletoe.”
She looked up above her head to see the green twig hanging above them. Y/N smiled and grabbed Jake’s face, bringing him down to her for a kiss, “Merry Christmas, Mr. Seresin.”

smut below the cut, minors don’t interact & don’t interact if you’re sensitive and don’t like these sort of fics.
The first thing you heard as you entered the apartment was yelling. Your mom scoffing and dishing out a mouthful of verbal assaults on your dad. When you unlocked the door and stepped in, their argument hushed and then as you walked into the open-plan kitchen, the argument ceased to exist. As if it never happened in the first place.
“Is… everything okay?” and you were met with mutual silence. “Dad?
“It’s nothin’.” Dominick replied curtly and turned on the coffee maker. “How was work?” he asked, quick to change the subject.
You could tell when your father was annoyed—nearing angry, he would clench his jaw and the muscles in his arms (which showed under his shirt, rolled up to the elbow). He always tried to not show you when he was in a mood that wasn’t happy, but he was only human. Your mother, on the other hand, was always in a negative mood—nothing was ever good enough for her.
You sighed and put down your backpack and took a seat on a stool at the island. “It was whatever, I hate working nights.”
Sonny turned to you with a fresh mug of caramel flavoured coffee in his large hands. In exchange, you handed him a paper bag containing a pastry that he tended to eat most mornings. Whether you brought one back or he visited you before he got to the courthouse to start his treacherous day.
“Aw, kid, ya didn’t have to.” He always says that, kissing you on the cheek as he takes it from your hands. Your cheeks grew warm. “Thank you, this’ll definitely keep me goin’—really made my mornin’.” and your dad smiled wide at you, the sides of his eyes crinkling.
Your stomach flipped.
Your mom was silent still, angrily making breakfast. Her movements were enough to show you that she was in a mood, and that you should probably stay out of her way for the rest of the day.
Your dad came into your life when you were ten. Ten years after having a meant-nothing relationship with your mom and only when she was running low on money, she reached out and contacted your father for a little child support money. Sonny was shocked at first, finding out he had a kid, but after taking care of new-born Jesse and having his paternal instincts go haywire for a child that wasn’t his; it was like Christmas came early on a Wednesday evening in Spring.
Sonny asked for visitation and your mom agreed, and the first thing he did was look for two-bedroom apartments. Sonny worked overtime in the precinct just so he could afford the extra room, anything for his little angel. And as you grew, you preferred his apartment more and more. He came home late, but he would always enter your room and make sure you were breathing and safe, always leaving a kiss on your forehead.
Somehow within the last eleven years, your mom moved in with Sonny and it was like a nice little family. Sometimes your mom and dad acted as if they were together, sometimes they didn’t.
And as you entered your early twenties, he still did it. As he transitioned from Detective to Assistant District Attorney, he worked even more hours just to support your little family, your mom stopped working and it was up to your father to provide for all of you—so that’s why you took a stupid, underpaying twenty-four-hour internet cafè just to help out with bills.
Later on in the evening, you sat down next to your dad in the living room. Your mom was already asleep in their shared bedroom, likely lost in a wine-induced dream.
“What was the argument about? Today?”
“S’nothin’, don’t worry ‘bout it. Ain’t your problem.” And he leaned over to kiss you on your forehead, lingering just a few seconds longer.
“B-but— if it’s you and mom, it is my problem. I’m your kid, I’m the one tying you together,” you sigh miserably.
Sonny turns to look at you with a sad expression before cupping your cheek in his big hand. You were closer to your Dad than your mom, because of things like this; he cared so much about you and she showed it.
He examined the pleading look in your eyes, and he knew you wouldn’t drop the subject until you received a satisfactory answer.
“Your mom ‘n I… we really try. I always do what she wants when she wants it, ‘ya know? But she uses me, n’ then when I want some, it’s like she don’t even wanna look at me—“ he sighed.
“Daddy— you don’t deserve that,” you said softly, reaching out to touch his arm, sleeves rolled up to his elbow. Your faces were so close, you were glad that the room was dimly lit just enough so your dad couldn’t see the warm blush rising up your cheeks.
“‘S okay, doll. I got you, you’re all I need,” he says with a smile, leaning over to kiss your forehead before getting up to go to his bedroom. You watched him as he walked off and turned to the bedroom he shared with your mom, closing the door with a soft click behind him.
You woke up early in the morning to the sound of hushed arguing. Their voices vibrated through the walls like before, and you found yourself closing your eyelids and taking a deep exhale.
It took a minute, you sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep from your eyes and took a glance at your alarm clock on the bedside table—it was barely over seven in the morning and they were already at each other’s throats.
Your pajamas were a simple set, a cotton t-shirt that was a size or two up from your own size (that was most likely your father’s) and a pair of black cotton shorts; you’d gone to class in worse attire.
Hesitantly, you opened your bedroom door and took a second before you walked to the kitchen where their voices came from. As you entered, your mother turned away from your Dad and bit her tongue and silently and angrily making breakfast as your dad busied himself pouring coffee into his large travel mug.
“Is everything okay?” you asked. You were met from cold silence from your mom, which was the usual in most times. It took a second for your Dad to turn around and give you a tight lipped smile.
“Everythin’s fine, kiddo,” he said, “how’d you sleep?”
“Fine, I guess.” It was great until I was woken up by your constant arguing, you really wanted to say, but you held your tongue and decided to be polite—just like how he raised you to be. Always keep the negative thoughts to yourself.
“I gotta go to work,” he said curtly and kissed your forehead, as he always did.
“Can I come with you?” You asked as he rounded the island to pick up his dark red briefcase. “I dunno, dunno if SVU will need me to do some undercover stuff.”
“Undercover stuff,” your mom tutted and angrily whisked eggs in the pan. “You’re an ADA, you don’t go undercover.”
Sonny shared a glance with you before your mom started again, “there you go, talking about work. Is it because Olivia is there?”
Your mom, Amanda, couldn’t be anymore wrong.
Sonny turns and walks towards the door without saying a word, and you follow.
When you reach the door, you whisper, “can I come with you? Please?”
You knew that if you had your only day off and spent it in the apartment with your mom, she would start on you next—and you really didn’t want to do that.
Your dad takes one last glance at your mom and sighs, ushering you out the door beside him. “Sure, kid. C’mon.” And he ushered you to put on your sneakers and to take your jacket and backpack.
——-
When you reach the eighth floor, Sonny clears a stack of file folders off a spot on his couch for you, giving you a smile as he pats the seat.
“Dad, are you sure there isn’t anything I can do? I hate seeing you and mom arguing like this,” you sigh, bringing up your knees to rest your chin on, your arms wrapping around your calves.
“Baby,” Sonny smiles, “I appreciate your concern but it ain’t somethin’ you can help me with.”
You look at him as he takes a seat in his swivel-chair, and that feeling in your stomach returns. Butterflies, you remember your mom telling you when you were younger, that you’d get butterflies when you liked someone.
Bile rose in your throat with shame.
“You know, I can help with whatever it is. I’m… y’know, older. I’m not little anymore, I’m big.”
Sonny chuckled, smile lines reaching his eyes. “Oh yeah? You’re a big kid?”
“Yup,” you say defiantly, crossing your arms. You notice the twinkle of curiosity in his eye, curious at just how grown up you’ve really become.
“Maybe you’re right.” He smiles at you. In his eyes, you will always be his little angel. No matter how old you get.
Sonny took a second to think, and then he set down his pen. It was a present from Mr. Barba—you had met him when you were younger, often being plopped in his office when your mom wanted to go out for brunch with her friends and your dad worked as a Detective.
“Let me ask ya somethin’, kiddo. Father t’child.” He clears his throat, “N’ you don’t need’a answer, s’totally within your right not to.”
You looked at him, waiting for his question.
“You ever had sex before?”
It was a personal question. You had just turned the legal age to drink alcohol and you barely did that. Sex was something you had only ever done once, and it wasn’t as pleasant as some of the videos you’ve seen.
“Once,” you couldn’t meet his eyes. “It wasn’t good,” you tell him honestly.
“Yeah? Tell me ‘bout that.” And he flicked his file shut and leaned forward on his elbows on his desk. His attention was on you, fully.
“He just… touched me, really. And then he just put it in me and finished.” You put your hands on your bare knees out of nervousness.
“You didn’t… ?”
You shook your head, no. In all the videos you’ve seen, both participants orgasmed and they made it look so good, like it felt amazing. You told him about how it started, how he kissed you and put his hand down your pants and how it all felt so rushed, and when it came to the actual sex; all you had felt a discomfort as the guy who was on top of you pushed inside you and you felt pain, and it rarely felt good.
And your Dad scoffed. “Don’t let boys like that d’that to ya, ain’t right.”
“But I… “ you swallowed, “… maybe I could help you?”
Sonny frowned, confused. “Help me? What do you mean?”
“You could have sex with me.”
Your bold statement was enough to have his eyebrows jump to the top of his forehead, and his mouth hang open slightly in shock. He stood and rounded his desk, closing his open door and flicking the lock, then closing his blinds. “Doll, you can’t say that in the courthouse.”
“I’m sorry—“
“S’fine, just… I’m ya dad,” he started and leaned against the table before you. “Shouldn’t be thinkin’ ‘bout me like that, it’s not right.”
He shamed you into silence, and your skin flushed with embarrassment.
Never in his life did he ever think he would fuck you. Always so keen on raising you to be the smart, level-headed kid you could be. He spent his life’s work going to work to put men away doing exactly what he was about to do.
He put his head in his hands and rubbed his face. Then after a beat, he took his hands off his face and looked at you.
“Doll— I’m gonna help ya out too, okay? Make my lil’ angel feel good. Don’t want ya to be an inexperienced adult,” he says carefully, leaning off from his table and stepping towards you.
“Are you sure? I-I mean, you and mom are having problems and—“
“Stop talking ‘bout ya mom,” he says before capturing your lips in a mesmerizing kiss. Your lips tingle with the force of his lips on yours, his hand coming to cup the back of your head. You kissed him back when he didn’t pull back, and he licked into your mouth and your sigh came out along with a moan.
You felt him smile into the kiss. “Does kissin’ me feel good?”
You swallowed, your eyes shaky as you kept your eyes on your dad. He was so close to you, leaning over you and your lips still touching. “It… it’s better than my other kisses.”
Sonny cocked his head and his eyes glanced down to your black cotton shorts, biting his lip at the lewd thoughts running through his head. He allowed his fingers to trace the band of your shorts and inch them down just a bit. “‘M just more… experienced, that’s what ya need.”
“y—you?”
And that was exactly right. That’s what you needed. Your Daddy.
He kissed you again, but this time it was to take his time and to memorise your taste, to learn the sounds you made when something felt good—and you made these little high pitched sounds—squeaks—when he kissed you harder, pushing you against the back of the leather couch.
He broke the kiss temporarily to place both of his large hands on your hips. “Ain’t gonna make ya do somethin’ ya don’t want to, baby,”
Sonny knew the risks, even as lust clouded his brain. Engaging in incest in the courthouse with his own child was one risk, but ruining your relationship with him was another. He would hate to ruin things with his only child; to have to run back to Amanda and her fatherless children just to play ‘happy family’ again.
“I—I want it,” you whimpered, “I— I want to do… this with you.” and you meant it. Your feelings for your Dad had only grown so much more since he put his lips on yours and kissed you properly.
Sonny groaned and bit his lip, his cock swelling. “Say it again, baby.” his voice was low, enough to be a growl.
Your body shook with adrenaline and nervousness. You held your breath as his big, warm hands ghosted over your soft, smooth skin.
Your Dad slipped his fingertips into the band of your shorts and pulled down your little lounge shorts the rest of the way, pulling them over your sneakers and letting them drop to the floor. The only thing between you two was your flimsy underwear, and he could see a very clear wet spot dampening the fabric.
“Haven’t seen that in a while,” he said and the tip of his finger prodded the damp patch. He didn’t miss your gasp, how your hips jutted upwards in need and selfish want. If he had his way he would take his time. Sink to his knees, shove his mouth in your pussy and taste his little kiddo’s juices.
Your Dad saw your nervous expression, and it took him until only then to realise that this would be the first proper sex experience you would have (with your own father, at that, it’s probably making you feel under pressure to do good.)
“Hey… “ he cupped your burning cheek, “s’okay… d’you wanna see mine first? just t’make you feel better?”
You nodded carefully, soon enough leaning into the palm of his hand. He tapped your cheek before he took his hand and put it to his belt, undoing the buckle and pulling it through the hoops and letting it drop to the floor beside your cotton pyjama shorts. His long, deft fingers went to his fly and unzipped it, then he pulled out his cock out from inside his dress pants. Your eyes were glued to the large appendage and you swallowed your saliva in nervousness.
Sure, you had only seen one penis before, but it was tiny, shriveled— nothing like your dad’s long, curved cock. It was not hard enough to stay up, flaccid only just enough that it dangled between his thighs.
“You okay?” He asked, and you nodded again; “uh huh,” and you couldn’t find the strength to take your eyes off him.
His blue eyes bore into yours as his fingers nudged your underwear, a similar situation to his removal of your shorts.
“This okay, doll?” he asked. Once you began to nod, he slid your undies all the way down. The cool air of your dad’s office hit your sensitive little pussy and you shivered, earning a smile from your dad.
“Don’t worry, doll. S’cold, same thing happens to me,” he gestures, and you look down right at your own dad’s hard cock.
“Can—can I touch it?” You asked. It was hard to believe that you were made from that, that at one point just over twenty years ago, you had come out of him and it was just staring right back at you.
“Sure.” Sonny smiled, and he took your hand and helped you wrap your small fingers around him in a light grip. The sudden pressure alone was enough to make him grumble deep in his chest.
In the videos you had seen on the internet, you knew how to copy hand movements—so you moved your hand up and down his cock, slowly, testing the waters. You didn’t see it, but the man who made you; his head tipped backward at the feeling of your hand squeezing his cock.
“does it—does this feel good?”
“Kid, you got no fuckin’ idea.” He groans and he looks down at you, cock barely an inch away from your innocent face. “N’ expert,” he praises.
After a while, his need to be inside you grew by each passing second. Your pussy was bare on the leather, making a small clear puddle of your arousal on the worn leather of his couch.
“S’enough, baby.” and he took your hand off his hard cock, no longer any sort of flaccid, instead as hard as he’s been in years.
You moved yourself so you were leaning back, and he followed you and pulled your hips down—your legs and ass dangling off the couch and his arms supporting you. “Makin’ me fuckin’ crazy, baby, gonna fuck you deep right here.”
You let out a breathy laugh that was cut short as he forced his tongue in your mouth; working overtime as his hand made its way to your wet pussy and rubbed the seam with his fingers. Gasping into his mouth, moaning lightly (aware of your noise, knowing there were people actually doing their job in the courthouse) as his long fingers stimulated your clit and your little wet hole.
“Makin’ me do things a Daddy shouldn’t do,” he growled, “you eva’ touch yourself like this? ‘magining your Dad gettin’ you ready for his cock? huh? little baby?”
You never once imagined what his dirty talk would be like, so filthy in your ear. But he was right, there had been a few times you’ve imagined him touching you late at night. Disgusting thoughts that clouded your mind in the devil's hour.
He was so quick but gentle, giving you attentive kisses and soothing your nerves as he prepared you to take your dad’s cock.
You whined when you felt his hard cock bump against your inner thigh, eyebrows furrowing. His fingers on your clit felt good and his tongue invading your mouth made you drool.
Sonny peeked down to where his erect cock was positioned between your legs. For a single second, he hesitated—it was as if his mind came back to him.
He can’t do this, it isn’t right—he’s your father. The tip of his cock leaked a stray tear of pre-cum and his cock throbbed in his grip. Your pussy was right there, barely an inch away from pushing inside your tight little hole, and he knew the minute he pushed inside you, he would never be able to stop.
Already imagining the next time he’ll get to fuck you. Maybe later on in the night, sneaking into your room while your mom slept and clamping a hand over your mouth while he finally got to taste your pussy.
His thoughts left him the second they rushed through his mind, and he pushed his hips forward and the tip of his cock notched your wet hole and his fingers stopped rubbing you, settling on a slow rhythm.
Your arm snaked around his neck and pulled him impossibly close to you as he pushed his cock inside you. Your mouth was tight against the fabric of his dress shirt, eyes squeezing shut as the tip of him breached you.
There was still an inch of him hidden beneath his slacks, the cons of having a quickie in his office is that he couldn’t push the entirety of himself inside you. He was fully clothed in a three piece suit he couldn’t just remove very easily.
Your own father’s cock inside you, the same cock that made you was inside you. And that kept running through your mind.
But for the most part, he was fully inside you. And your thighs trembled and shook at the fact your Dad was inside you.
“S’okay… s’okay—“ Sonny choked as he turned his head so he could mumble against the side of your lips. “Just hold onto daddy.”
And you did, your little fingers digging into his shoulder blade as he gave an experimental light thrust of his hips and he groaned, it came deep from his throat and his hand tight on your thigh spread your leg wider as he fucked his cock into you, finding his rhythm inside you.
“Takin’ ya dad’s cock so fuckin’ well.”
Your pussy clenched on him at his words. Reminding you that he wasn’t some guy from work—that you were falling apart on your dad’s cock.
“J—Jesus, d—dad,” you moaned and bit onto his shirt for some sort of stability. His cock was pumping inside you and your bare thighs were met with the soft fabric of his dress pants, muffling what would’ve been harsh, wet slaps of flesh meeting in a selfish hurry. “F—feels so good.”
If you were worried about his co-workers hearing what was happening inside his office before, you definitely weren’t now. Muffling your moans in his shoulder, squeezing your eyes shut as the pressure in your pussy built and built with the faint pain of the tip of his cock thumping against your cervix.
“D—dad,” you gasped, “f—fuck, I’m—o—oh my g—god, it—“
Sonny pressed his forehead against yours once more, murmuring against your lips, “gonna cum, baby? Cummin’ already on ya daddy’s cock?”
He could tell by with how your fingers dug into his shoulders, how he could feel the drool you had left behind on his chest and with how fucking tight your pussy was gripping him; getting tighter by the second, almost trying to push his cock out of you.
His thumb worked harder on your hard clit, pressing down and circling in harder circles. Where his hand was, your pussy was so wet, dripping onto the couch like a burst pipe and covering his dress pants (and he thanked Barba for telling him to always keep a spare suit in his office, in case of emergencies. And fucking his own flesh and blood child to oblivion and back was one of them.)
“D—dad—daddy—dad,” you babbled against his soft lips, “can I—p—please?”
Oh, how sweet. You asked permission, always a polite kid. He wonders who taught you that—your manners, that is, and it was him. Your mom would’ve raised you to be a bully if he didn’t get there when he did.
His cock fucked harder into you and as a result it had the top of your head hitting the soft cushion and your moans grew louder but were still muffled into his shoulder.
“C’mon, baby, please fuckin’ cum—need’a feel it, honey, let ya dad feel ya cum—“
Sonny’s words spurred you on, his thumb rubbing hard circles on your clit and his cock pounding into the very end of you was just enough to set you over and you came all over his cock with a muffled squeal, eyes clenched painfully shut and your arms pulled him impossibly closer to you. Your pussy tightened almost painfully on his cock and the pressure was just enough to push him out, but his greedy cock fought against it and and pushed and fucked you through your first orgasm by a cock.
Little squirts of liquid left your pussy and splattered on his dress pants, not enough to turn heads if anyone walked in, but enough to make your Dad moan like a whore.
“That’s it—what a good fuckin’ kid, doin’ as you’re told—makin’ me feel so good.”
You weren’t your mother—you were his perfect little angel that he made himself, in his image. And that alone was enough to convince himself not to pull out—if there were consequences of his actions, he’d allow those consequences with open arms.
Not even a second later, you felt his cock pump inside you harder and faster—then you felt the vibration of his deep, throaty groan against you and felt the warm spurts of his pent up cum inside you.
“Daddy,” you whimpered.
“That felt fuckin’ good,” he groaned and tipped his forehead onto your shoulder, his thrusts slowing as he rode out his orgasm inside you.
He felt better than he had in a long time. He just now realised he didn’t need your mother, he never did. As long as he had you, he had an obedient little kiddo to take their daddy’s big cock. He knew you wouldn’t miss an opportunity to show your dad how grown up you really were.
It took him a minute to pull out of you, your pussy gripping him and milking him for everything he has and he didn’t want to leave the hot, wet pussy that he took part in making. Fuck, that thought alone was enough to give a hard twitch into his softening cock. But when he did, his cum spilled out with him and onto the already wet leather of the couch.
“Look’a that, baby, look how much you milked outta me—greedy little thing,” and his hand smoothed over your thigh to insert a finger into your sore and spent pussy, plugging his cum back inside you. Your hole clenching around him, even more so when his thumb takes place back on your oversensitive clit.
“D—dad,” you gasped and put your hand on his wrist. “That—“
“‘Know what it is, honey,” and he leaned over to grab your underwear and slid them back up your legs, back where they once were before he decided to fuck you in his office of law. Patting your now clothed pussy, he stood on shaky legs and tucked himself away.
He leaned back down to press his lips to yours, “done me real proud, kiddo, think you deserve a nice nap, huh?” he spoke as he nuzzled his nose with your own and you smiled, lazily biting your bottom lip.
“Still feels like you’re inside,” you say in a whisper.
“Means I fucked ya too good,” and he kisses your nose and then your lips—as if it was second nature. “Now get some sleep, I’ll wake ya for lunch.”
—-
At the dinner table that night, the tension was thick. Your dad had slaved away on the stove making a chicken dish, (with your ‘help’, after the events of earlier in the day, you became so clingy, wanting to be beside him if he couldn’t be inside you) but your mom wanted steak and that was enough for her to give him disrespectful comments on how it tasted, how she preferred her best friends husband’s steak casserole compared to Sonny’s Italian ‘chicken-thing’.
His hand settled on your thigh beneath the table, Your hand was over his, entangling your fingers together.

Hybrid Cafe Yans
A list of the hybrid yans since it's been a minute-. The first name is their real name and the second is the nicknames reader has given them. The only exclusions are Saber and Wistera who haven't been nicknamed yet, and Doc and Trick who have never been official named
Saber [he/him] - Model/Influencer Catboy who got saved from the ran by Cafe reader on their first shift. Very snobby and feels entitled to most if not all of reader's time being their first customer
Clyde/Spot [he/him] - A lonely delivery rabbit. Shy and Sweet. Bounced around in the foster care system as a child and has severe abandonment issues steaming from it which later on resulted in him dying his fur white to be more appealing to others. His nickname comes from Reader finding a spot on his ear since it had been a while since his last dye job
Shanna/Bo [She/Her] - Reader's sheep girl coworker. Extremely clumsy and timid, but also plays up the act to lean on reader's shoulder. The daughter of a local club owner who is still coming to terms with her recent coming out.
Pauline/Belle [She/Her] - The ex head chef at the cafe. A hot headed cow woman with a soft spot for reader who's what keeps her crawling back to the city from her cozy new life on her farm
Robbie/Honey [They/Them] - A bumble bee who as their name implies is sweet as can be..... on the surface. Robbie is one of if not the most willing to beat others into submission for Reader. Their mother is the head of a massive company who gifted them the entire apartment complex they live in. Later moves Reader into one of them who pays next to nothing for rent
Trick [They/Them] - A tired Crow enjoying early retirement/hiatus from their work. Greatly enjoys relaxing with a cup of tea and gifting reader presents from the various regions they've traveled to over the years. Works as a teacher as a secondary occupation which slowly drains them as it reminds them of the empty nest they have at home
Asher/Prince [he/him] - Hyperactive Hyena boy ready and willing to throw hands for reader. Their kindness helped him get over his fear of humans after years of bullying for having a human father and a shorter stature because of it, and being wrongfully arrested when attacked by bullies and choosing to fight back
Wisteria [She/Her] - Plant woman of unknown origin. Owns a flower shop not too far from the cafe and supplies it with bouquets for their displays which she uses to eavesdrop on reader. Soft spoken and formal
Doc [They/Them] - Leech Hybrid med student. Extremely giggly and carefree. Always tries to give Reader check ups which certainly aren't ploys to obtain vials of their sweet, sweet blood. Has difficults walking on land and wears leg braces for the weak muscles in their legs
Scout/Bear [he/him] - Wolf hybrid. Doesn't like to talk much about himself, but lived with his grandmothers and dogs in the wilderness before they all passed away. Stoic and grouchy, but weak to soft praise and touches
The manager - A deer hybrid mentioned briefly in the Christmas special. Not much to them now, but I'd really like to use them eventually

i. equal parts
Tumblr media
pairing: poe dameron x solo!fem!reader
part of my upcoming 'princess, smuggler, pilot' series!
word count: 7.3k
summary: bre solo, daughter of han solo and general leia organa, decides to swap her life of smuggling with her father to aid her mother and the resistance. when she lands on base, she meets up with an old friend, who helps her acclimate to life on land.
warnings: i gave the solo reader a name (sorry,) angsty moments, fluffy moments, typical canon star wars violence, chewie being the best star wars character, this author loves the star wars christmas special from the 70s, in the timeline we're gonna pretend the reader is younger or the same age as Poe
based off a request!
-
Bre Solo relished in the pressure of true shower's water against her skin. In her far too quickly approaching future, sonic showers would be her only option, so she relished in the water shower of her father's ship. The smell of her Nabooian floral soap filled the air, encouraging her to take a deep breath of the warm steam. In only a matter of hours, her father would drop her down on her mother's military base, and everything about her beloved life on this ship would be a mere memory. Tears sprang in her eyes, and she swallowed them down hastily. She wanted this, right? Her mother needed her, needed more help in the fight against evil, again.
Her chest ached as she thought about all that would be taken from her: no more days laughing next to Dad as they repaired something on nearly every inch of the ship, no more sitting on the galley counter as Uncle Chewie cooked her favorite soup from Kashyyyk, and, perhaps her most favorite, no more seeing a new stretch of galaxy every day. In an act that was far too reminiscent of her mother, Bre swallowed down her emotions and hurried as she washed her long hair. As she stepped out of the shower and dried her hair, she tied her hair into a simple leisure braid. Sure, Bre and her mother had a massive falling out, but she could not part with the infinite number of Alderaanian braids she had learned. Securing the towel around her frame, she stepped into her cabin and picked out her warmest pajamas.
Glaring down at them, she found her fingers lingering on the embroidery decorating the shirt pocket. As she dressed, she thought about when she had gotten them. The pajama set had been a Life Day gift from her mother several moons ago, and her heart ached as she thought about the matching set being somewhere out in the galaxy. A midnight blue set had been purchased the same day as her maroon, both inscribed with the same initials: B. P. S. She thought of her brother-her twin brother-who shared the same initials. Bre had no idea where he was in the wide galaxy, but she thought of him everyday. Pushing all of her thoughts down, Bre made her way back to the cockpit where her father and uncle sat.
Without a word, because none were necessary, she sat snugly in the same copilot seat as her Wookiee uncle, his lanky arm pulling her closer. As her head rested on his upper arm, those pesky tears behind her eyes festered forward. This would be possibly the last time she would be able to relish in Chewie's warmth for some time. She could no longer hide her sadness, burying her face in Chewie's fur as she shook with silent sobs. Chewie's voice was laced with concern. Chewie had been around since before she was born, so understanding his language of growls came as second nature.
["Starlight? What is the matter?"]
Chewie's love and sincere sympathy had never wavered, no matter what happened in her family. Even when her brother betrayed the family, or when her parents split. Her Uncle Chewie had been her constant, and now, she would no longer have him. Bre didn't say a word, only continuing to sob into his fur. It was several moments later when her father's voice broke the silence.
"You give me the word, kid, and this craft is on the turnaround."
Han Solo had always been sympathetic towards his daughter (they were too much alike if you asked Leia Organa,) but even more so in his older age.
"You know I can't Dad, as much as I'd like to. Mom needs me, and no matter what you say, she needs you too. She could use you and Uncle Chewie for help with-"
"Okay, B, now you're startin' to sound like 'er." Han chuckled under his breath, the comment making Bre and Chewie laugh.
"I just don't want to leave either of you. I know it's important I help Mom, but I wish both of you would be there."
["What matters most is that you're here now."]
Chewie's reply was heartfelt and wise, but it simply wasn't what Bre wanted to hear. She leaned her head back against his strong shoulder, and it wasn't long before her father's hand grasped hers, holding it close in an act of comfort. Bre knew what she had to do, what she had to give up to aid the Resistance, but she wasn't sure it was what she wanted to do.
-
On the Resistance base on D'Qar, Poe Dameron hopped out of his currently smoking X-Wing. General Organa would soon be hot on his heels rambling about his broken ship, and he'd have to pull out his toolbox and work on the damage. His dark brown eyes cut across the hangar bay, the salt-and-pepper locks of the aforementioned General stuck out next to a dark-haired girl that stood next to her, hardly an inch taller than the short woman. Poe noted the taller figures looming over them both, General Han Solo (a name he had heard more times in his life from his father) and his copilot, a towering Wookiee named Chewbacca. Poe's eyes widened in realization: the dark-haired figure wasn't just any new recruit: that was Breha Solo, the daughter of some of the Rebellion's most famous figureheads. She shifted uncomfortably between her two parents, who seemed to be attempting to further the distance between themselves. She visibly sighed, cutting her eyes to her Wookiee uncle, who gave her a seemingly (Poe didn't speak Shyriiwook) reassuring growl. She smiled brightly, leaning into his embrace before following him back into the ship behind them. Poe was awestruck, it had been years since he last saw her.
Then, they were just children. Poe could remember her vividly, despite the passing of time. She had worn a dress, completely white save for the swirling pattern embroidered on the front that spanned to each shoulder. Her hair had been long, but not nearly as long as it was now. Well, Poe wasn't actually sure, he had never seen her with her hair entirely down. He only observed through tightly-wound braids and intricate twists. Her parents had visited Yavin IV to meet his parents, and, like children often do, they became close friends in mere hours. They had played with his toy X-Wings and Y-Wings and her stuffed Wookiee, and eventually fell asleep to an Ewok themed children's holoprogram. That was so long ago, before they grew up, before his mother died, before-Poe stopped his train of thoughts, not wishing for a painful resurgence of memories. With a nudge to his ankles, BB-8 captured his attention, momentarily distracting him from his own mind.
"What is it, BB?"
A series of beeps followed, but to Poe, it was if BB-8 had spoken perfect Basic.
["General Organa is asking for you. She says its important."]
Poe nodded, and thanked his droid counterpart before walking in the direction of the family reunion that had gathered on the edges of the hangar. Leia's brown eyes caught his own, and she smiled a perfect senatorial smile at him. Poe had been a member of Leia's cause long enough now to know what each of her smiles meant. Now, she was deathly serious, and waiting (almost) patiently for Poe to arrive at their meeting spot. He beckoned his weighed-down legs to move faster, the BB unit at his feet rolling along merrily.
"Commander Dameron," Leia started, a glimmer of mischief in her eye.
"General," he responded, followed by a small nod of his head to his superior.
"Captain," he followed, addressing Han. Neither of them had time to respond, however, because a clanking noise came from inside the ship. Leia's eyebrow cocked up at Han, who shook his head wearily as he trudged up the ramp. A hearty Wookiee laugh followed a distinctly human one, making even the stoic General Organa break out into a grin. In an instant, Bre was back, now stumbling down the ramp with a duffel bag on one shoulder, her hands carrying a container that seemed to hold some type of food Poe did not recognize. Her green eyes were glassy as they found Poe's brown ones. She gave him a smile, one he recognized well, it was the same as Leia's own fake smiles. She placed the items down on the firm ground of the hangar before sighing heavily, turning to meet the two figures behind her. Poe swore he saw tears on her face, but when he looked again, they seemingly had disappeared. Chewbacca wrapped her tightly in his arms, his furry hands patting her head softly. With one last embrace, he mumbled something only Breha seemingly understood before she was stumbling from his grip and into the embrace of her father. Leia now stood facing Poe, allowing her daughter a moment with Han. Poe caught a glimpse of her head resting on her father's shoulder before he too turned to give them privacy.
"Poe, my daughter, Breha, will be staying with us. She will be working for the Resistance under special orders. She's to be bunked near my quarters. I trust you can take her to the bunker, show her around the base."
"Of course, General. Any specifics?"
"Show her everything." Leia's grin finally met her eyes, the gleam in them prominent. She then turned to her daughter, who was now waiting with her father's arm around her shoulder. With one last hug, she bids him farewell with a heavy heart, before turning to face Poe. Now this close, Poe did a double take. His eyes blinked heavily as he looked at the girl again. She was a nearly spitting image of her mother, save for the one part of her father she could not deny: his eyes. They were glimmering with the same charm of the Corellian pilot, and were much, much lighter than her mother's-both literally and figuratively. The green of Breha's eyes lightened her entire face, while Leia's brown seemed heavy and weighed down by what she had been through. Perhaps, Poe thought, Breha didn't have half the weight on her shoulders as everyone else running around the Resistance base.
"Breha, this is Commander Poe Dameron. Commander, this is my daughter, Breha."
Poe nodded silently to the girl in front of him, which she returned with a smirk much more notable to be on her father's face. She turned to give her father one last wave as he started his ship's engine, and Chewbacca gave her a large, hairy wave of his hand. With a smirk and a wink, Han Solo was back in the stars, taking a piece of Breha's heart with him. She shook her head and winced, taking her food container off the solid floor. Poe followed suit and grabbed her duffel bag.
"You don't have to, I can take it myself, Commander. It's-"
"It's fine, really. The General wanted me to show you to your quarters, show you around the base. It's just Poe by the way, you don't have to call me by my rank, Breha."
"It's Bre."
"What?"
"My name. Call me Bre, no one calls me Breha except my mother."
"Okay, Bre. Nice to meet you."
The dark-haired girl chuckled.
"Something funny?" Poe asked, genuinely curious.
"Did you think I had forgotten you so easily, Poe Dameron? This is hardly our first meeting."
It was Poe's turn to laugh, shaking his head at the quick-witted girl.
"The last time I saw you, I was wearing X-Wing printed pajamas, and you carried a stuffed Wookiee everywhere you went. I'd say we've both changed a bit, Bre."
Poe looked over to see that Breha's face had reddened, her eyes darting to the duffel bag slung over his shoulder. A smile suddenly broke across her face, and it lit up her entire face.
"That Wookiee doll was made by my Aunt Malla, Chewie's mate. It was my favorite thing as a kid. She made him all kinds of accessories and outfits. He had a mini satchel like Chewie's and a lovely set of red Life Day robes."
Poe smiled as she reminisced. During their walk to her quarters, Poe felt as if no time had passed between the pair. Bre was not as high-strung as her mother, as Poe once believed she might be. Bre had a sort of air about her-light-hearted, funny, and easy to have a conversation with. Despite her looks, it was clear to Poe that Bre held her father's personality inside her mother's looks. She would do nicely here. Sure, the Rogues would take some time to come around to her, but they would enjoy her humor. A distant whirring filled Poe's ears, causing he and Bre both to turn their eyes to the end of the hallway. Flashes of orange and white greeted them, a frustrated beep filling the air.
"BB, buddy, I wasn't leaving you! I was showing Bre here to her room, helping her drop her stuff off.
BB-8 buzzed back in annoyance, something only Poe could understand.
"Okay, fine! Bre, this is BB-8. BB, this is Bre Organ-"
"Bre Solo, and it's lovely to meet you, BB," Bre smiled widely, a true, honest smile, perhaps the first one Poe had seen from her yet. She dropped down to BB-8's height, rubbing his head affectionately. BB whirred around in excitement, relishing in the idea of a new friend. Poe laughed as they continued down the hall.
"He was upset that I hadn't introduced him to you yet," Poe started, pushing the strap of the (ridiculously heavy) duffel bag up his shoulder. "He seems to like you. Do you speak droid?"
"No," Bre spoke, shaking her head. "We grew up with a droid, C-3PO. Of course you know 3PO. He speaks Basic though, so there was no need for us to learn. He speaks lots of languages, actually, like, Dad use to curse in Corellian, so Be-uh, I would always try to get 3PO to tell me what they meant."
Poe pondered on her broken sentence, but decided it would be better to ignore it. This was the first time he'd seen her in years after all, there was no limit to what could have happened in her family, maybe she didn't want to talk about it. Hell, Poe certainly didn't want to talk about all of the things that had changed in his own life. On a whim, he quickly changed the subject.
"You understand Shyriiwook though, right?"
Her eyes lit up, nodding enthusiastically.
"Yes!" She wrung her hands almost nervously, fiddling with the flat, silver ring on her right pointer finger. Poe looked at it quizzingly, attempting to get a good look at the emblem etched into it, but could never quite get it in his sights. "I grew up around Chewie my entire life, he's always sort of been there. He lived with us when he wasn't on Kashyyyk, and I've spent the last few years flying around with Dad and Chewie. You pick it up pretty quick."
She smiled humbly, and Poe could almost feel the heartbreak in her voice as she talked about her distant family. Poe rattled his brain from some other subject, but luckily, the action was unnecessary. A pristine voice echoed down the hallway, followed by a clamoring of metal against the floor.
"Princess Breha! Oh, how wonderful it is to see you again!"
Bre's smile widened at the golden droid, her eyes shimmering even in the dim light of the hallway.
"3PO! It's so good to see you, too! And as I've told you before, there is no need for formalities, call me Bre." Her eyes widened, delicate hands reaching for his red arm. "Your arm!"
Poe's eyes rolled, and he blocked out 3PO's incessant chattering at Bre looked at the droid with the utmost concern. Poe pushed the bag back up his shoulder again, the clattering of glass taking him by surprise. Even BB looked up at him questioningly, wondering what the source of the noise was. After a moment, the golden droid was on his way, muttering something about General Organa. They set off on their course again, only the sound of BB's whirring filling the room. Their walk was lengthy, and Poe's stomach began to rumble noisily. His mind raced, when was the last time he'd eaten since he left for his mission? It'd been too long, he decided, because he could not remember.
"Would you like some?" Bre held out her food container to Poe, who gave it a look-over. Apparently, Bre had heard his stomach too.
"What are they?"
"Wookiee-ookiees."
Poe furrowed his brows, not familiar with what she was talking about.
"They're these baked treats native to Kashyyyk. Malla typically makes them, but Chewie's not a half bad cook either. Otherwise Dad would've never survived all these years. They're very good."
Frankly, Poe was so hungry he would've eaten Bantha cookies for all he cared. He indulged in the sweet treat offered, taking a big bite. His eyes widened, chewing quickly.
"That was amazing," he said after he'd finished, brown eyes full of newfound joy. The food in the mess hall was less than subpar, more for sustenance than enjoyment.
"Would you like another?" Bre asked, polite as a princess should be.
"Absolutely I would," Poe indulged, happy to see the same enjoyment glittering in her eyes. Bre loved sharing little bits of Kashyyyk, for it was her favorite part of all the galaxy she had seen. She pictured it in her mind: its towering green trees that expanded for miles, Malla and Chewie's home within them. She thought of Life Day celebrations: Chewie's big hugs, her mother's singing voice, and her father bringing she and Ben to their beds next to Lumpie. She shut the thoughts down again, her heart hurting just thinking about it.
"Ah!" Poe stopped in front of a door. "Welcome to your home away from home."
The bunk wasn't shabby, just standard: Resistance-issued cot, storage unit, and, perhaps the most important, the adjoined refresher. The feeling of her hot shower from last night ran through her senses, and she relished in it one last time. Poe dropped her heavy duffel on the cot with a sigh.
"Well, this is your room. General Organa's quarters and office are all the way at the end of the hall, along with the other higher-ups. She wanted me to take you on a tour of the whole base, but if you wanted to get settled or-"
"I'll take you up on that, just let me get this bag settled. Close the door, though."
Poe closed the door hesitantly, turning back to Bre. She stopped halfway through unzipping her bag, her eyes cutting up to Poe.
"I know you're my mother's right-hand and her golden pilot, but could you just be Poe for a second? Promise that what you see doesn't leave this room?"
Poe nodded blindly, too curious as to what she was going to do to even object. Bre shook her head before rummaging in the bag, mumbling slightly.
"Dad would kill me if he knew about this."
She pulled out a very large (very, very large) bottle of amber liquid, Poe recognizing it as Corellian whiskey immediately. His eyes widened, following as she slid it under her small storage compartment. Just after, she pulled an equally large bottle of blue Spotchka from the bag, shuffling it in the same spot.
"Holy shit, Solo! Yeah, my dad would be pissed too if I stole that much alcohol from him!" Poe's eyes were large as saucers, giving him the same look as a Porg. Bre's dark eyebrows furrowed. She cut her eyes to Poe, that famous Solo smirk painting her face.
"My dad gave me this, Dameron. He wanted me to have it. He certainly wouldn't be pissed about the alcohol. He'd be mad at me for doing it in front of the General's pride and joy. He taught me to be a better smuggler than that, especially with high demand contraband."
She closed her bag and stood, ready for Poe's obligatory tour. When he thought of everything the daughter of General Organa would be, it certainly wasn't Bre. She was named for two legacies of respected and elegant royalty on both Alderaan and Naboo, prime examples of the expectation of royalty. As she shut her cabin door, Poe took note of her hands, scarred but smooth. He had the same scars, they came from working on ships. He finally got a good glance at the flat ring on her hand, now noting the distinct outline of a 'B', seemingly for name. It was shiny and without scratches, in pristine condition. On the same hand was a band made of glittering gold, a single red rock on the band. Poe noted the color-it was a Corellian ruby. These rocks were hard to come by, and even harder to find the funds to afford it. Having a Corellian smuggler as a father probably helped in that situation, Poe supposed. Looking at Bre now, he noted, just like the rings on her fingers, Bre was equal parts princess and smuggler. (Maybe more three fourths smuggler, but Poe was feeling generous.) Her traditional braids across her head contradicted the oil stains on her pants, but, when he looked at her face he saw it clearly: just like her parents, she held every emotion in her eyes. Whether they were brown like Leia's or green like Han's, they could talk a good talk, but their eyes gave away everything. Poe noticed the pain in her Endor-forest green eyes, completely contradicting her bright smile.
Poe wasn't entirely sure why Bre was here after all these years of an obviously strained relationship but he was certain she wanted to be somewhere far, far from D'Qar, her mother, and nearly anywhere like this base: there was no where for her to run from herself in such tight quarters. The realization made Poe shudder, the same feeling coursed through him.

Nola lifted her head as the front door slammed shut and Jax stormed into the kitchen, knowing from the smell of herbs that he would find his Old Lady there. No one but him knew what she was, how special she really wasᅳ and that was a good thing, for her own protection.
He knew that his club would be able to deal with it after they declared him crazy first, and maybe Jax would tell his brothers about Nola's abilities at some pointᅳ but only when his Old Lady was ready. Until then, she continued to secretly help lead the club on the right path, mainly by helping Jax talk to his dead fatherᅳ rarely, after all, it was no longer white magic once you summoned the dead.
But sometimes Jax needed the guidance that only John could give him, as much as he hated using his Old Lady for thatᅳ but Nola was happy to help, in any situation. When someone in the club was injured, she worked in the background to make sure that the healing happened much faster or that something worse could be prevented.
But that wasn't all. Thanks to Nola, Jax had learned to love again, to let warmth back into his cold heart after Tara had run off again two years ago and tried to take his sons away from him. In the end, Tara had agreed to leave the boys with him as long as she could see them both regularly, and finally moved to Oregon to take on her new job.
And when Nola came into his life about six months later, it hit him like a truck. Something about this woman had drawn him in immediately, the shimmer in her greenish eyes so strong that it felt like she could see into his soul, as if she knew exactly what he neededᅳ and shortly afterwards he had found out why.
The fact that she was a witch was a shock at first, but it made no difference. It was her person he loved, for whom he would go over dead bodies. And she would do the same for him, as he'd soon find out.
"What's wrong?" Her voice was sharp, different than usual, as if she knew something bad had happened. "What happened, Jax?"
She took a step closer, tentatively reaching for his wrists as he ran his hands down his face in despair, anger flashing in his glassy eyes. "Tara took the boys. She's gone, Nola, just gone."
He watched as Nola stumbled back, her face twisted in shock as she let the news sink in. One hand flew to her chest, the other used to brace herself against the doorframe, just as broken as he was.
Nola loved the boys as if they were her own and Jax had mentioned often enough that she was more of a mother than Tara ever had. But the doctor still had a right to see the kids because Thomas was her biological son and Jax was stupid enough to sign half of the rights to Abel over to her years ago.
"She took my babies?", she asked through a sob before blind rage overcame her. Her gaze turned cold, her eyes shining dangerously. "Do you have anything from her? It doesn't matter what, even a photo is enough."
"Can such a spell harm the baby?" Jax asked, gently grabbing her hand before casting a worried glance at her not-yet-visible baby bump. "If so, we'll find another way, babe."
"No, it can't. She'll pay for this. She can't just keep coming into our lives and ruining it by taking our babies", Nola seethed, tears of anger at Tara and fear for her children welling up in her eyes. "She'll feel the consequences."
"As much as I want that", Jax began seriously, pulling her flush against him before placing a hand against her cheek. "I don't want you to put yourself and our daughter in danger."
"You don't even know if it's a girl", she murmured quietly, seeking refuge in his arms, her head resting on his chest. "I've been a witch my whole life, Jax. I know what I'm doing, let me help."
"I just have a feeling", he mumbled against her long, raven-black hair before he placed a kiss on the top of her head, gently pushing her away by her arms. "Are you sure about this, darlin'?"
"Yes, absolutely sure", she assured him eagerly. The young woman could never do anything that could harm her own flesh and blood. "And now bring me something from Tara so I can find the bitch."
An hour later, Nola was sitting at the large dining table in the small but perfect house in which Jax and the kids now lived with her, the room dark due to the drawn curtains. Only the light of a few candles illuminated the dining room with soft light.
The words Nola spoke were barely understandable, but Jax still tried to figure out what exactly his Old Lady was saying; to no avail. However, concern rose in him when some blood dripped from her nose and her voice vibrated more strongly. But before he could say anything, his hand already resting on her shoulder, her eyes shot open.
"Done", she purred softly and pointed to the candles in front of her, which was placed right above an old picture of Tara, the only one Jax had found in a box in the garage. Next to it was another candle with a picture of Thomas and Abel. "The candles have to burn until they burn outᅳ don't blow them out. Give me a piece of paper, I'll write down the address of the motel."
"Why, if you've already found her?" Jax asked, standing up and coming back with a piece of paper, a pen and a tissue. "Why is your nose bleeding, Nola? I told youᅳ"
"I'm fine, baby", Nola hummed, placing a hand against his arm before taking the things with a soft 'thank you'. Only when the address was written on paper did she wipe the blood from her nose. "I want to come with you, and before you say noᅳ"
This time Jax interrupted her with a gentle kiss, caressing her cheek as he slid the note into his pocket. "We'll do this together, babe, you and me."
Nola smiled gratefully. "Then let's go, I wanna look her in the eyes again before it's too late."
"Wait, what do you mean by that?" Jax' chair slid across the floor with a squeak as he stood up after Nola, who was covering the candles with special glasses so nothing could happen. "What did you do?"
"I told you she would feel it", she shrugged nonchalantly, grabbed his hand and dragged him outside. "Come on, I want my babies back."
"Maybe I should stop asking questions", Jax muttered under his breath before they hurried to her SUV so as not to waste any more time.
While Jax and Nola were on their way to the motel just a few miles outside of Charming, Tara was thinking of a plan to hide with the kids until she suddenly felt a scratchy pain in her throat that was getting stronger by the second.
On her way to the bathroom to get a glass of water, she was overcome by a coughing fit. Everything in her chest tightened, taking away her ability to breathe. Panic rose in her as she was unable to stop the coughing. She brought a hand to her mouth as she gasped for air, her eyes growing as she noticed the blood in her palm.
"What theᅳ", she couldn't say more, the words just a broken croak.
A sharp pain shot through her chest, sending her to the floor in panic. Trying to sit on her knees, her upper body arched in pain. The doctor began to gag until blood gushed out of her mouth like a waterfall.
The liquid seeped into the floor, staining the beige carpet a crimson red. Her panicked gaze fell on the boys, who had both fallen asleep at the same time about twenty minutes ago, and nothing seemed to wake them upᅳ  and Tara wasn't exactly quiet.
It was weird, but the boys' chests were rising and falling at regular intervals, so they had to be okay.
Tara crawled across the floor to get to her bag, and again she threw up blood, this time it even gushed out of her nose, causing her to roll onto her back and clutch her throat hastily, out of pure reflex.
With each long cough, blood spurted upwards, covering her face. This was her end, she could feel it. If she didn't get to the hospital within a few minutes, she would dieᅳ that much was certain.
Tara jerked her head to the side as the door swung open, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets as Nola and Jax stormed into the room, the latter closing the door behind him.
"You bitch!" It was Nola who approached Tara first, kicking the doctor in the ribs, not surprised at the sightᅳ after all, she was responsible for it. "Did you really think you could take my kids?", the woman let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head as she slowly crouched down and brushed a few strands of Tara's short hair out of her face, smiling as the woman twitched and whimpered under her touch. "How are you feeling? You made quite a mess here."
"Babe, what is this?" Jax looked at the two women, not quite sure what he was staring at exactly.
He didn't care about Tara, but he didn't want Nola to have to take such steps just because his life was pure chaos. "I don't want you to kill anyone for me."
"Baby, I really love you", Nola began with a deep sigh, looking up at her fiancé. "But it's not always all about you. The bitch took our kids and kept trying to ruin our livesᅳ I've had enough."
Lifting an eyebrow, Jax was at a loss for words, not sure what to say, but his chest still filled with pure pride. His Old Lady could be a bitch, a protective one, and that was hot as hell.
"Alright, do what makes you happy, darlin'", he said, lifting his hands before he stopped behind her and crossed his arms over his chest. "But what about the boys? I don't want them to see this."
"Don't worry, they'll sleep until we blow out the candles", she reassured him, frowning. "Do you really think I would've risked our kids seeing that? You should know me better, handsome."
Jax rubbed his neck sheepishly, giving her an apologetic smile. "Sorry babe, that's not what I meant."
When Tara reached for help and grabbed Nola's wrist, Nola pulled her arm back in disgust, her eyes darkening. "I could make this stop", she said with a sweet smile, making Tara nod frantically. "On one condition.."
Nola closed her eyes, hummed a few words to herself and tapped Tara's forehead with the tip of her index finger for a few seconds, making Tara's coughing fit stop immediately.
Tara rolled onto her stomach as panicked sobs left her throat, tears streaming down her pale face. Only when she realized what had just happened did she sit down on her butt and slid as far away from Nola as possible, her features twisted in shock.
"Oh, so now you're scared?" Jax sneered angrily, his steps heavy as he slowly walked towards Tara and crouched down in front of her, Nola right next to him. "What do we learn from this?"
"Iᅳ I'm sorry", Tara choked out, bursting into tears as she pulled her legs against her trembling body. "Please..please don't hurt me!"
"Aww, she's even begging!" Nola snorted a laugh, her face only inches away from Tara's. "Here's what's going to happen. You go back to Oregon, never set foot in Charming again, and never think or talk of us again. If you try anyway, well..",
Nola sighed theatrically, almost as if she was enjoying the idea of hurting the doctor again. "Then next time I'll let you choke miserably on your own bloodᅳ and I'll watch with a smile on my face."
Tara's bitter sobs bounced off the walls, both of her hands covering her mouth to muffle the volume. "Wᅳ what are you?"
"None of your damn business", Jax snarled, his gaze murderously intense as his blue lenses dug into Tara's skull. "Did you hear what Nola said? Are you goin' to listen to her?"
"Yes, yes for God's sake! But please, please let me go", she pleaded, the sight almost heartbreaking if only someone would care about her.
Nola smiled contentedly, pushing herself to her feet. "Okay, then we're done here! Have a nice life, bitch."
While Nola turned around and threw her black hair over her shoulders so she could pick one of their sleeping sons up, Jax glared at Tara again, his gaze nothing but a threat.
"Don't say a word to anyone or you'll wish you never messed with us, Tara",  Jax said, more serious than ever before, his voice was dangerously calm, before he spat at Tara's feet and then picked up Abel before he left the motel room with his family.
Moaning Jax's name, Nola threw her head back, her hands placed on his chest as she moved her hips in circles, his cock buried all the way inside her slick folds.
They had both needed a break after that day, and after spending the evening with their children, they had retreated to the bedroom and wasted no time in ripping off their clothes.
"That's it, darlin', keep goin'", Jax urged with a groan slipping from his lips, slapping her ass as he pushed his hips up, helping her out a little.
He felt his climax building, so he brought a hand to Nola's full breasts, kneading one in his palm as he rolled her nipple between his fingers, knowing that Nola never lasted long when her breasts got touchedᅳ this was one way to make her come, always.
"Fuck Jax", the woman on top of him gasped, locking eyes with him, returning Jax' grin, savouring every second as she rode him. "I'm close, baby", she drawled sultry, another moan falling from her plump, dark-red lips.
"Good, let go for me", he demanded encouragingly, licking his lips as his own breathing quickened and his cock twitched inside her. "Wanna feel you cum on my cock, sweetheart."
And that was it. Something in Nola's lower abdomen snapped and a moment later she climaxed, moaning his name loudly as she squirted all over him after Jax rolled and pinched her nipple between his fingers again, a gush of fluids now covering his pubes, her long nails leaving bloody welts on his chest.
"Fuck babe", he panted, his voice deep and hoarse as he slid his hand to the back of Nola's neck to pull her head down, his lips brushing hers.
"I love it when you do that", Jax croaked against her lips, an excited whimper falling from them before he pulled her into a sloppy kiss, chasing his own climax.
Nola moaned into the kiss as thick ropes of cum filled her, the warm, thick liquid warming her walls even more. She was already pregnant, so what else could happen?
As she collapsed onto his chest, her breath coming in quick, ragged gasps, she closed her eyes and sighed softly as Jax ran his long fingers through her raven-black strands.
"I love you, Nola, I hope you know that", he murmured, the weariness slowly becoming audible in his tone as the day took its toll. "Thank you for todayᅳ for getting out boys back."
"I know, don't worryᅳ and I love you, too, more than you know", she hummed, not doubting his words. The advantage of being a witch was that she could tell when someone was being honest or not.
Nola slowly lifted her head, leaving a kiss on his lips. "I think there's nothing I wouldn't do for you and our childrenᅳ and I mean that."
Jax smiled weakly, rubbing his thumb against her cheekbone after she rolled off him, laying down next to him. "Good, because I'd do anything for you too, darlin'."
"I know, handsome", Nola smiled again as she laid her head back on his chest, the sound of his heartbeat soothing.
When Jax placed his hand on her bump, like he did every night since they had found out that she was pregnant, their eyelids fluttered shut, both falling into a deep sleep after a few minutes after the eventful day.

‘It Was Fun to Be Wanted by Someone Like Elvis Presley’: An Interview With Darlene Love
The gifted singer reflects on Elvis’s collaborative presence and his relationship to gospel music
by MICHAEL MUSTO August 7, 2018
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The swaggering real-life Jeff Koons statue named Elvis Presley is hot again. Eugene Jarecki’s June-released documentary The King involves a road trip taken in Elvis’s old Rolls to survey his impact on the culture and determine that the American dream the singer represented is officially dead. (But oh, when it lasted!) Even darker is the film’s exploration of Presley’s appropriation of African-American culture, covering songs like “Hound Dog” — originally a non-hit for the brilliant Big Mama Thornton — and making them rock and sell. For singers like Thornton, the American dream never existed.
Enter powerhouse singer Darlene Love, who is represented on another new project, Where No One Stands Alone, a fourteen-track compilation of Elvis’s gospel work due out August 10 on RCA/Legacy. The L.A.-born minister’s daughter started singing in the church choir at ten, on the road to being scooped up by producer Phil Spector to belt hits like “He’s a Rebel,” “Today I Met The Boy I’m Gonna Marry,” and “Christmas (Baby,Please Come Home).” The lead voice of such groups as the Blossoms and Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans, Love ended up working as a maid in the Eighties, but when she heard one of her old hits on the radio while she was scrubbing, it inspired her to get back into performing full-time. Her appearance in the Oscar-winning 2013 documentary 20 Feet From Stardom was memorable, especially when it addressed the way Spector promised her a solo career, but gave other singers credit for her work.
I recently talked to Darlene about her backup singing for Elvis, and how she feels about the King’s relationship to the music he both co-opted and celebrated.
Hi, Darlene. What is some of the gospel work you did with Elvis?
There is “Let Us Pray,” the one from the movie we did with Elvis, Change of Habit. That was his last film.
It was in 1969, with Elvis as a doctor and Mary Tyler Moore as a nun.
We, the Blossoms, are in the first scene. And we were in his 1968 comeback special [Singer Presents … ELVIS].
His new gospel compilation album should be quite interesting.
They [recently] had me do some fill-ins, what we call ad libs, throughout the album to make it sound more gospel. I haven’t heard it yet. Hopefully it’s a wonderful thing.
Elvis went to church and listened to gospel singers to soak up what they did, right?
Even today, it’s more mixed than it was in the Fifties and Sixties. Whites and blacks didn’t go to church together back then. What Elvis told me he would do — we had night service on Sunday night when we did what we called “praise songs.” A lot of them were songs he loved, what we called “hymn songs.”
We didn’t have air conditioners. We had pushup windows, with a little rope. Elvis said he would stand outside the church rather than going in, because they didn’t think black and white should be in the same churches together. He said he would listen through the windows. It gave him such a thrill. It’s a big difference between the way blacks sang gospel and the way whites sang gospel.
Do you feel he was dedicated to the music or he was just taking it for himself?
I found out years later, when we were doing the comeback special, that his mother’s favorite music was gospel. He would always sing gospel around her. I think if he could have had a big career in gospel music, that’s where he would have been. But you can always make more money off secular hits. Elvis had 10 or 15,000 people come to his shows to see him. Today, they have mega churches that hold 25,000, but back then, you were doing great if you had 500 people.
I bet they have air conditioning now.
Oh, lord, yes. [Laughs] I lived in Texas for five years as a young kid with my father, and it was so hot we couldn’t even breathe. There was no air conditioning in church or the house. What a difference it makes to have a cool ensemble. You still sweat because of the energy, but back then, we were soaking wet, when we sang in church.
I love gospel music. If I had a calling — meaning from the Lord — just to sing gospel, I would have, but the secular music got to more people. I bet a lot of secular singers like Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin felt the same way. They never paid us no money. “Do it unto the Lord.” “OK.” [Laughs] We would drive to the gigs and they’d give you an offering — gas money. They were hardly giving us a whole lot of money. But it was worth it, every penny of it. It was a wonderful experience singing gospel.
But was Elvis appropriating the music, or that’s just the way it was?
That’s just the way it was. A lot of people think a white person is copying the black person. He just loved the music and he was singing it the way he felt. He sang “Hound Dog” completely different than Mama Thornton. [Elvis’s version was rock, whereas Thornton’s was blues.] Even today, they take secular music and put it in gospel, and vice versa. You know, Elvis won three Grammys, and they were all for gospel records.
What were your experiences like with Elvis?
One time, Elvis decided we’d all go to the movies. He bought this theater out that night.
What did you watch — Change of Habit?
Don’t even ask me. I don’t remember. [Laughs] We had a lot of free time when we were recording and when we were making the movie. That’s when the Blossoms and myself got a chance to know the gospel side of Elvis. He’d want to know the songs we knew. He’d get his guitar and say, “You know this song?” “Yes, we grew up on it.” He’d say, “Let’s do it.”
Was he funny or serious?
He was funny and he was serious sometimes. If he didn’t think he was doing great, he’d say, “Hey, girls, how’m I doing?” He was very, very funny. I call it that “country funny.” He would do his moves in the studio the way he was gonna do them onstage. It made it easy to be around him, but sometimes it was not easy because his bodyguards were keeping people from him. He wanted to be with the Blossoms, where he could pull out his guitar. We’d say, “We think you’d better go. You’re gonna get us in trouble.” We’d never forget, because he’d be giving us his personal time.
You’d just be hanging out and singing?
Yes! Whatever song he knew — “Amazing Grace” or “River of Jordan” or “Heaven Is a Wonderful Place” or “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” We called them hymns of the church. There was another one called “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior.” The Blossoms were known for their harmony. We’d harmonize with him. There’s something we had with Elvis that others didn’t have. It was fun to be wanted by someone like Elvis Presley.
He had tremendous respect for you.
Yes, he did. That was great. I always say he left us way too soon. He is where I plan to go one day, so I’ll see him again.
You were all rather young and great-looking. Was there any sexual tension in the air?
There was. It could have been. But I was too scared to do anything.
You fool! [Laughs] Kidding. You wanted to keep it professional.
And I definitely did. Something about dating someone you’re working for, it takes away from that. “I know he’s never gonna look at me the same after this.” [Laughs] He’d start playing with me. He’d tap you on the shoulder or do a hip shake, and me and Elvis knew what that meant.
Flirting?
Yeah, I think so, and I think it showed his human side. I wasn’t bad-looking — and I was thin, too. [Laughs] He wanted to take out time and be around us. The reason we sang on his ’68 comeback special is he was the one that insisted that the Blossoms sing in the music section of the show.
So Elvis treated you better than Phil Spector did?
Oh my God, I’d say so.
That’s an easy one.
That’s a real easy one. Phil took advantage of me and my talent. With Elvis, he wanted us to work, and we got paid well. It wasn’t like Phil Spector cracking the whip and us running around!

──── NOT MY GIF ────
No NFSW, Cursing, warnings, etc. 🍰
Fluff ୨୧
Younger cait <3
Characters: Caitlyn Kiramman, Casandra, Tobias
Series: Arcane League of Legends
1. She had discovered mitski as a young age and would listen to her songs, growing a liking to them. Tobias/her father was concerned that she was sad/depressed, so he would always barge in and ask if she needed anything or if she was okay.
2. At a event her mother made her attend, she had been handed a root beer float, loving the taste. Her mom wasn’t the happiest when she found out though, saying she needs to stop drinking it. And that, in her words, “It’ll rot your teeth with all of that sugar!”
3. She has a perfume collection. A very big one that is. Most of them were either half empty, or almost empty. She would come out smelling like she just walked through a field of lavenders. (Because I feel like Lavender would be her signature scent.)
4. Very good at chess. Being with all the time she spent inside, she found way to occupy herself. Chess being one of them. Her father would call her “the queen of chess”, earning a giggle or two from her.
5. The only candy she really eats is chocolate. Mint chocolate bars to be exact. It was only special galas/Halloween that ate something different. Like her mother said about the root beer floats, “It’ll rot your teeth!” Blah blah blah.. That’s why she can have it once in a while.
6. She never really dressed up for Halloween. If she did, her mother was picking the costume. Nothing scary.
7. On the topic of halloween, Caitlyn’s candy was definitely getting checked. “What in the world is a butter finger!” Her mom would question, not recognizing the brand name.
8. Writes in cursive. Any letter, note, assignment, etc is in cursive. Picked up this from Cassandra.
9. After every sharpshooting competition, she has to stand holding all of her medals/achievements that she had won as her mother posted them all over Facebook.
10. Has tried acrylic nails before. Begged Cassandra to let her (because she obviously said no) but then had them removed a day or 2 later because they sorta got in the way of sharpshooting practices.
11. Asked for a sewing machine one year for Christmas. Though, it was too complicated for her so now it stays in the top of her closet.

My contribution to the @harringrove-relay-race is some cute Christmasy fluff. Thank you @greyghoulclub for the introduction.
Christmas had never been all that special to Billy, even as a child. The only Christmas that he could remember with any fondness had been when he’s been eight and his parents had brought him his first surfboard, and even that was marred by the memory of Neil’s drunken rage later in the evening, the fact that he couldn’t use his present for two weeks after he got it and not because the weather was bad.
Then his mother left and any pretence at Christmas or being a ‘happy family’ disappeared. Christmas was just another day, another day where the people around him rejoiced and Billy just tried to survive. Even after Susan and Max arrived things didn’t really change, now Billy just had to watch as Max opened gifts. Any longing for presents of his own had died long ago and Max’s lingering, guilty glances did nothing but drive home that this holiday, just like everything else in his life, was not for him.
He wasn’t sure why Max seemed surprised, she’d been there for his birthday, she should already know that he wasn’t getting anything.
They moved to Hawkins and other than the weather Billy anticipated a Christmas like all the others, at least this time he had his car, he could escape before the fists started flying, before the thin veneer of the ‘perfect American family’ disappeared as it always did.
He just never factored Steve Harrington into his vision.
Billy had been smitten with the doe-eyed, floppy haired boy since day one, and had done everything in his power to dispel everyone else of the notion that he had a crush. Somehow, despite his posturing, his insults, and his generally prickly nature Steve had decided that Billy was his friend. And despite knowing that fraternising with people he genuinely liked only increased the chances of Neil finding out and turning his ire on the poor, undeserving teenager, Billy accepted his friendship.
He accepted the invitations to smoke at the quarry, to drink by the lake. The apparently constant and unspoken invitation to hang out at Steve’s place, that large empty house that just seemed to exist as the physical embodiment of Steve’s loneliness.
It was at Steve’s house where Billy’s view on Christmas changed.
They were lounging in Steve’s bedroom, still high from their last joint when Steve asked. “So, what are you doing for Christmas this year Billy?”
Billy shrugged from his spot on the floor, continuing to stare up at the popcorn ceiling. “Same as last year I guess, watch Max open her gifts and then hide in my room until Neil passes out.” Billy had been surprised initially when Steve had guessed, within one week of knowing him, just what Billy’s home life was like. But Billy quickly learnt that while Steve may not be smart in an academic sense the way that Billy was, he was very smart in an emotional one.
So, whilst Billy continued to hide behind the veneer of loud, bad boy in public, when he was with Steve, he was more honest, more himself.
“What are you doing?” He asked, anticipating an answer filled with opulence, of going to a second home in the mountains, skiing, all that stuff that rich people did.
“Same as normal as well, I guess. “Steve replied, his head turned towards the bedroom wall so that Billy had to strain to hear. “Watch whatever’s on TV and drink until I pass out.”
Billy frowned, propping himself up on his elbows. “What? You mean you’ll be here…alone?”
Billy knew that they both drank more than was good for them, that they drank for very similar reasons, just as he knew that Steve only drank to excess when he was left alone, when the echoes of his empty house got too loud.
“Yeah, mom and dad have already gone to Colorado, they’ve got a lodge there.” Steve finally looked at him, a faint blush on his cheeks that caused butterflies to explode in Billy’s stomach. “Do you…what if you came here for Christmas?” Steve asked shyly. “I can’t promise you a full Christmas dinner, but we can have a feast, the freezer is well stocked.”
“You serious?” Billy was sat up properly now, staring at his friend.
“Yeah, you think your dad would let you?”
“He wouldn’t even notice I was gone.” Billy replied, which was as good as a yes and Steve clearly understood that because his face lit up with a smile.
“In that case, you wanna come over Christmas eve then? We can put up the decorations and then we’ll have the whole of Christmas day together.”
--
Billy wasn’t sure what he expected when he turned up on Steve’s doorstep on Christmas eve, his overnight bag slung over his shoulder, but it wasn’t the sight of Steve opening the door in a full festive getup. He had a hideous red and green sweater on that appeared to have had a fight with a tinsel factory and lost, a floppy red Santa hat perched atop his precious hair, and honest to God sunglasses in the shape of Christmas trees covering his eyes.
“Billy.” Steve crowed, having to shout slightly over the Christmas music blaring through the house. “Merry Christmas.”
“It’s not Christmas yet, pretty boy.” Billy replied with a snort, shucking his jacket and accepting the glass of sherry that Steve handed to him. “You really do go all out when you’re expecting guests.” He continued, gesturing to Steve’s getup.
Steve laughed, removing the glasses and placing them on the table. “Nah, I just wanted to see your expression when I opened the door.” He replied, tossing the hat onto the sofa and combing his fingers through his hair. “I’m keeping the jumper on though.”
“Shame.” Billy hummed before he could stop himself, flushing to the roots of his hair when he realised what he’d said. “You said we were decorating.” He said in a desperate attempt to change the subject, gesturing to the bare Christmas tree stood in the corner of the room.
“And we are.” Steve replied chipperly. “The decorations are in the garage.”
Billy grumbled but helped Steve carry the three large boxes from the garage to the living room.
“We used to have a lot more, enough for the whole house but with my parents always away for Christmas it was too much effort so it’s just the living room stuff now.” Steve explained as he opened one of the boxes and pulled out a long garland. “That one has the tree decorations in it.” He gestured to the box that Billy had just put down with his chin. “Why don’t you focus on the tree, and I’ll do the other bits?”
“Sounds like a plan.” Billy said.
They decorated to the soothing sounds of Bing Crosby, the room seeming to grow warmer and cosier as more ornaments were set out. Billy felt both giddy and completely relaxed at the same time and wondered if this was what Christmas was supposed to feel like.
If it was, he wondered if he would be able to have it every year.
He placed the golden star on the top of the tree with a contented smile, stepping down off the stool that Steve had provided for him. “There, what do…Steve?” Billy turned towards the door where Steve was hanging what was unmistakably mistletoe, and Billy felt himself flushing again.
Why had Steve brought mistletoe if it was only going to be the two of them?
He felt a brief flicker of hope in his chest that he tried desperately to suffocate. This was probably just a tradition that Steve hadn’t thought much about, either that or he’d organised a surprise Christmas eve party or something.
“What are you doing?” He asked, that little flicker growing stronger when Steve blushed.
“Putting up mistletoe?” Steve replied quietly, bashfully.
“Why?” Billy pushed, swallowing loudly when Steve held out his hand towards him, like he wanted Billy to take it. Trying not to second guess this too much Billy slipped his hand into Steve’s, allowing him to tug him into the doorway, directly beneath the mistletoe.
“Why else would people put up mistletoe?” Billy followed Steve’s gaze upwards to the little green and white plant. “To have an excuse to kiss the boy I love.”
“Steve.” Billy breathed, feeling tears pricking at the backs of his eyes.
“Merry Christmas, Billy.” Steve said quietly before leaning forward and pressing a sweet, chaste kiss to Billy’s lips.
If this was what Christmas was supposed to feel like, then Billy could finally see the appeal.
“Merry Christmas, Steve.” He whispered, returning Steve’s kiss with one of his own.
(I'll post this on AO3 at some point as well)
And introducing @racketti who is next up on the list :)

TAGLIST | MATERLIST
Moving had been a surprisingly smooth process that she remembered little of. She had to take care to not think too much about the ornaments she was packing or the boxes she was taping shut or the lonely town she was numbly driving towards, lest the rest of her catch up to the grief weighing her down. Her supervisor had looked plenty confused when she explained where she was transferring to, and muttered something about not knowing if there were any visitors there.
As steep as the change was from working in central London to a significantly sleepier town, she seemed to be adjusting fine. In fact, she was liking the peace and quiet. Or at least, she would, soon enough. She'd learn the right habits, like finding contentment in the stagnant void that descended on her windows far too quickly every evening, the same way she'd unlearn bad habits, like him. So no, her biggest problem was hardly the early sunsets here, but was actually what everyone wanted to talk to her about when she called. The one thing everyone - her old teammates, colleagues, friends - wanted to make sure she knew.
"The gala was fantastic this year - though not as fun without you, of course -"
"You'll never believe who showed up."
"He looked very sharp in his suit. He cleans up nice, I suppose - Anthony Lockwood, I mean."
"They've become quite the celebrities, that Lockwood & Co., though the other two don't seem to tolerate the cameras like he does."
"Oh, you should have seen it. Say what you will about Lockwood but does he know how to make an entrance!"
"Were you at the gala this year?"
She sighed for what must have been the fifth time that day. "No, Ted, I was not. You were at my farewell party, remember?"
"Tha' was for you?"
"Goodbye, Ted."
"Wait! You've seen the pictures, haven't you?"
"No, I haven't, because contrary to popular belief, I am not obsessed with evrything that goes on at Fittes."
"Well, we had a tiptop chocolate fountain this year. Didn't get clogged once and looked absolutely gorgeous. Anywho, I've recently stumbled upon this smashing business opportunity involving chocolate fountains - they're selling like hot cakes, I tell you! - and I'd love to spread the wealth."
"Theodore, you haven't joined another MLM, have you?"
"What is an MLM, other than an opportunity to invest in yourself?"
"Don't make me phone your mother."
The call ended rather abruptly after that. Only Lucy, as always, was an angel.
"I take it you've heard plenty about him?"
"Who? Oh, him. Yes, more than plenty."
"I thought you might. He has...quite the presence, so the papers wanted to interview him, and he agreed - "
" - obviously - "
"And I think they asked him about you at some point."
Her mouth dried. She struggled to find her voice, forcing it to stay casually disinterested. "Hm? What did he say?"
"Absolutely nothing. First and probably last time I've seen him stunned speechless. Naturally, it's all anyone can talk about."
"Mhm."
"He hasn't talked about you, if you're wondering. Sees it coming from a mile away every time George and I try to bring it up. It's so stupid; we know it, he knows it, and he's always in a foul mood. He keeps thinking, these days...Y/N?"
"I don't care."
"No one would blame you if you did."
"I don't."
"So how are you holding up?"
"Well, Luce, I felt happiness outside of external validation for the first time in...ever, then three months later I'm crying in my bathtub wishing I would die, and now I'm miles away from everyone I ever knew and it's always dark outside and I'm always miserable. I'm doing great."
She could hear the exhaustion in the crackling static of the telephone. It occurred to her that she wasn't much acting all that cheerful either.
"If it makes you feel any better, I think he half-expected to see you there."
She inhaled sharply and sat up in her armchair so fast she could feel a cramp curling in her neck. She didn't dare believe Lucy's words. "Really?" she wanted to breathe into the telephone, and revel in dormant delusions, if only for a moment. Instead, she gingerly sank back into the chair, continuing in a flat voice.
"Well, I don't care about any of that now. Oh, I'm sick of it. All of it. If I never hear his name again for as long as I live, it'll be still be too soon. How's George doing?"
After she hung up, she laid in her chair, watching the shadows from her shutters stretch and fold over her furniture as the sun set. She was thinking about the last party she had been to, a yacht party where some of Fittes' and Rotwell's biggest investors were in attendance. How Lockwood had managed to score an invite was beyond her, but what intrigued her more was the cab ride they shared back to Portland Row.
She had been half-dozing off when she felt a hand cover hers. As she blinked at him blearily, she noticed the rigid tension in his spine, as if poised and waiting for an attack. He was clutching her hand purposefully, as if holding off on warning her about something malevolent that was consuming him. She couldn't see his face, which began to feel no different from the cold, hard window pane it was peering out of.
She stirred, distantly unnerved by his impersonality. He glanced at her, apologetically retracting his hand with a sheepish smile. But that look of consternation remained on his face as he turned back to the window with a furrowed brow, with the air of waiting for something. He visibly relaxed as they approached Portland Row, but she couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling even by the time they reached the doorstep.
"You all right?" she was asking, while Lockwood fumbled with their keys.
"'Course. Why wouldn't I be?"
She didn't respond, and the two of them watched him wrench at the key in the lock, trying to steady his mildly trembling fingers.
"Key turns the other way."
He paused his efforts, and after a second or two turned the key the other way. The door slid open smoothly with a click. He held it open, but she just looked at him expectantly. He sighed.
"I'm fine, I promise. I just...get a little nervous around some parts of London."
"Which parts?"
"Some."
"Scared of what?"
"A few things."
"Why?"
"For fun. Look, I'm freezing out here. Can we just drop this?"
That was more than a mild exaggeration; the sun had only just set and the air was still pleasantly balmy. But he looked so beseechingly, and it didn't take much for her to relent when it came to Lockwood, so they stepped inside and shrugged their coats off in silence.
"I'll tell you some day. I'm sure I will."
That was some day too far away. Now she'll never know if, or why he ever felt like that. Or rather, she wouldn't know when he would feel like that. But it was no matter. It was none of her business then, and it was even less of her business now.
She had mostly forgotten about her conversation with Lucy by the following week, which was why her parcel came as a bit of a surprise, especially since she'd mentioned being swamped by a mountain of upcoming cases.
Y/N -
I was thinking about our call the other day. On a completely unrelated note, here's about every gossip rag from the past month I could find at Arif's.
Love, Lucy.
She was beginning to see what was so appealing about these magazines. As ruthless as they could be, they sure knew how to sell a pipe dream to common folk with less exciting lives. The gala was clearly as glitzy and glamorous as it was every year, and the articles held an air of intrigue now that she was quite separate from Fittes. But that quivering excitement became somewhat muffled as she flipped through the glossy pages.
The Anthony Lockwood she saw now looked worlds apart from the Lockwood she left behind. His well-fitting suit, megawatt smile and carefully styled hair made him look expensive in a way that destabilised her. She flipped through photograph after photograph of him looking jarringly luxurious besides walls of text effusing about the success of their latest case, and what an honour it must have been to be personally invited by Marissa Fittes herself. It weighed at the pit in her stomach to see this unfamiliar silhouette of a friend who was become increasingly unattainable, speeding along roads to prosperity faster than she could ever keep up with.
She sifted through the other rags. The most extensive feature was a few pages long, and was centered more on the exciting, up-and-coming agency that was Lockwood & Co. rather than a specific case. There were pictures from their most recent cases, and in each one he looked unnaturally distinct from the last, but in every single one he oozed an appealingly languid charisma. It was good to see him doing so well. She was happy for him. Or she would be, tomorrow, when she had the strength for it. Lockwood was unbearable in a way that made him perfect for a life in the public eye, a life for which she was somehow always deficient. She traced a too-long strand of hair flopped on his forehead in one of the photographs, as if she could magically straighten it out.
She could see him now, thumbing through the pages with an approving tilt to his head, limbs folded uncomfortably in the armchair he always insisted on sharing with her. "No such thing as bad press," he'd claim absent-mindedly, his too-long hair flopping impractically. And she'd watch him with bruised eyes like she always did, wishing for nothing more in that moment shared with him. In other words, wishing for nothing short of what she could never have.
Maybe it was some lingering wish to break herself before he beat her to it. Because that was all it was; dodging blows, lying through pretty teeth, racing ahead to pull one over on him, cursing the feel of his breath on her. There was simply no calm, no respite, only the all-consuming experience of becoming wrapped up in him and losing bits and pieces of herself which would never again be truly hers.
She picked up the telephone again. It felt too heavy in her hand. Numbly, she spun the dial as if on autopilot, keying in her mother's phone number. The dial tone comforted her in some twisted yet cathartic acknowledgement of the emptiness inside of her.
Looking at it now she could see the distinct air of mystery that engulfed Lockwood and clouded her vision. He was never quite fully present; a part of him was always tucked away to be kept secret in some dark corner, and her mind was only too happy to extrapolate, to construct this most desirable yet entirely mythical figment. She felt ragged, winded and worn from battling reality day after day, all alone. And most of all, she felt so very stupid.
Her mother was saying that she had made the right decision. Not that she needed any reminding. Of course her life had taken an upward swing ever since; she'd be a fool to think otherwise. She was positively paralysed with liberty, bedridden with joy, simply immobile with ecstasy!
She was slowly but surely going very insane. Now making eyes at each other, now disconnect, now love, now heartache, now this, now that, but never any peace. Maybe it was some lingering wish to shatter and let the pent up misery dissipate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Months passed. The holiday season arrived, and she choked through the November blues with shivering bones and clammy hands. Even with the slight uptick in visitors, as was expected in the colder months, her life provided little to distract her from her own ghosts under the floorboards. So when she received a consultancy request from Fittes one morning, she had written back and mailed her response all while still holding the jam knife.
The train was crowded and noisy with the bustle of the holidays, but as it chugged along through the fields of snow, she couldn't help but perk up ever so slightly at every sigh and creak of its wheels. There was a spring in her step all the way to Fittes headquarters, where she was supposed to collect her apartment key.
A tall, indistinct figure was walking out of the revolving doors as she approached. She flinched when she realised who it was - Lockwood, who didn't seem much happier to see her either. He looked mostly well, though the corners of his mouth were a little strained, his face flushed in the cold.
"...Y/N?"
"Lockwood."
"You're...home?"
"Yeah. Um, how have you been?"
"Good...good. Busy. As busy as winter gets."
He was wearing a different coat. It was quite similar to his old one, but this one was thicker and more structured, and looked like it was at least somewhat effective in keeping the brisk winter wind out. He looked foreign and unfamiliar in a way he hadn't since...since the Investors Party.
It had taken her a while to pick his face out of the pretentious crowd, given how preoccupied she was with weaving through the thicket of people. It had taken her a eyes minute to adjust to the almost nauseatingly charismatic silhouette of an especially-chuffed Lockwood in a newly tailored but otherwise identical suit. She tried to give him a reproaching look, but there was something infectious in his smooth ease as he larked about in his prime which made her lips twitch despite herself as he waded through the crowds.
"You really shouldn't be here."
"You're clearly not drunk enough yet."
"How did you even get in? This is invitation-only."
"Had an invite, didn't I?"
She pursed her lips, shaking her head slightly. He was hopelessly incorrigible in an oddly fascinating way. Her voice dropped to a murmur as she felt herself begin to relent.
"I ought to...tell someone about you."
"That you're secretly in love with me?"
"That we have an illegal stowaway."
"You're not going to rat me out, are you?"
The pleading look on his face was enough to give her pause. She was already beginning to regret her decision, but he looked so vivacious it was difficult to stay disapproving for long.
"Excellent. Now, would you be so good as to point me in the direction of the bigger spenders?"
They spend the next few hours laughing and entertaining the many important men on the boat and their great deal of important thoughts. She'd excuse herself towards the end of every conversation to leave Lockwood and the glimmer in his eye to close a deal. For someone so adept at climbing the corporate ladder, she was surprisingly poor at fulfilling these adjacent duties.
She hated every second of it, and she drank as much as she could without raising eyebrows to make it all halfway palatable, but it was all worth it then. He had wanted to stay for as long as it would have been polite, so when they finally left, long after the media had made their rounds at the event, his jacket was folded over his left arm and his hand was delicately holding hers.
When she was stuck in her drafty cottage on the edge of nowhere, she'd think about the feel of his fingers curling around her palm more than it was appropriate, and wonder how she ever thought she was somehow better off here.
But that evening's sense of camraderie was long gone. Now, she regarded him coolly, holding him at arm's length. They may have had a rough falling out, but that didn't mean they couldn't still be friends. Just friends. Nothing more. But the vaguely intimate look in Lockwood's eye told her he was in no mood to entertain any kind of platonic notions.
"I didn't know you were back."
She relented. It was the season of giving, after all.
"Only for a while. Fittes hired me as a consultant for a few months."
He blinked at her. "You could have called."
"I didn't think you'd be interested."
"Of course I'd be interested. I'm always interested when it comes to you."
She sighed sharply. It was so easy to get swept up and believe him when he said things like that, that she wondered how she found the strength to leave. He was a bastard, a ne'er-do-well who only knew how to break her heart after promising sweet, simple luxuries in whispers over expanses of skin. She made her lips tremble, her pulse quicken, her heart shake in all the worst ways.
But underneath all that, love was there. Love was there...still.
"Ready to go?"
They turned in unison towards a strikingly beautiful girl with glossy raven curls walking out of the revolving doors. The girl's smile only slipped a fraction as she shook her hand, and she was distantly aware of making some kind of clumsy introduction. They stuttered through some stunted small talk, during which all she was aware of was the blood roaring in her ears that gave the whole scene a distantly muffled feel. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
"Well, this was...lovely. Shall we go, then?"
The girl turned to leave, but some semblance of hesitation prevented her from pulling Lockwood along with her.. His face still had that same confused look.
"You could have called," he repeated tonelessly, like a broken record. The girl's presence made the back of her neck smart and prickle uncomfortably.
"I might, later."
"Bye. Nice meeting you."
"Nice meeting you too."
"We're home all day."
The last one was from Lockwood.
"Just...if you want to drop by. So that Luce and George don't have my head on a platter by supper."
"Goodbye, Lockwood."
He was captivating in a way that made her want to keep him all to herself. No one needed to intrude on this tantalising secret they shared. It was at that moment that she made the very unfortunate realisation that she didn't need to say it out loud to make what she had been screaming from the rooftops of her heart any more real - him and her would forever be unfinished business.
And nothing she could do could make the palpitations of her heart any less real either.
As the life she once dreamed of walked away from her, all she was acutely aware of was that it was a lingering wish, some half-thought dream, to sit opposite him in a chilly kitchen on blustery mornings, watching him drink his tea while she got drunk on him.

New Year Wishes
Premise: New Year’s Day is a special time for making wishes that come true.
Book: Open Heart (post series) Pairings: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Cassie Valentine) Rating/Category: Teen. Fluff. Words: 1,435
A/N: Submission for @choicesjanuary2024 Day 1 writing exercise prompt; for @choicesholidays New Year and @choicesficwriterscreations holiday event. I'm using @choicesflashfics week 66, prompt 1.
Tumblr media
Part 1: The Legend
The first snowflake fell, and with it, a new tradition began. Inside the mansion by the sea, Christmas decorations hung across the mantel. The star above the tree in the corner twinkled when the weak rays of a winter sun briefly shone through the window panes.
It was the first day of a new year, and the air was full of possibilities, like magic on a moonlit night. Flames crackled in the fireplace, spreading its warmth toward the family of four sitting by the hearth.
Four-year-old Cassie Valentine rubbed her sleepy eyes as she cuddled on her mother’s lap, content with the familiar scent and feel of her mom’s arms around her. When she heard a loud yawn, she squinted at her twin brother Max, who was similarly nestled against their father’s chest.
His blond hair was messy, flopping over his forehead; his face was practically hidden in their dad’s big arms. One green eye popped open as if sensing her gaze, and he smiled sleepily at her.
The twins protested when their parents removed them from their comfortable position and onto the shaggy rug in front of the fireplace. Cassie leaned into Max’s side, curling her legs beneath her, and yawned widely. She rested her face on her brother’s shoulder and closed her eyes.
She wasn’t sure why her parents had woken them up so early or carried them down to the family room. It wasn’t Christmas morning. She knew because Santa had already brought her and Max presents last week.
“Cass honey, wake up,” Daddy said gently, lifting her head and brushing his hand down her hair. “Your mom and I have a surprise for the two of you.”
The word ‘surprise’ made Max perk up and sit straight in attention.
“Do you know what today is?” Mommy asked, her eyes crinkled around the corners as she smiled.
They shook their heads, and she continued. “It’s New Year’s Day. Legend has it that if you make a wish, write it on a piece of paper and throw it into the fire, it will come true. Isn’t that right, Robert?”
“My old nanny told me it was so.” Cassie saw her father smile in a dreamy way she didn’t quite recognize. “And she was right. When I was your age, I wished for a life full of adventure. Then, one day, many years later, your mother spilled her drink on me. I haven’t been bored since.”
“Robert!” Mommy gasped in shock before throwing her head back in laughter and then leaning in to kiss him on the lips.
Cassie giggled, and Max groaned, making gagging sounds.
“Six years of adventure, my love,” Mommy said softly, resting her head on Daddy’s forehead. “Every day, I fall in love with every little thing that you do.”
Cassie watched her parents gaze into each other’s eyes and thought there must be something to this wish legend. And if Daddy was right, she was definitely wishing for a puppy.
Part 2: The Wish
Many years later, in an elegant condo overlooking Boston’s waterfront, Ethan Ramsey propped himself up on one elbow and leaned over his wife. He ran his finger down her cheek and brushed aside a wisp of hair that fell over her face.
“Time to wake up, love,” he murmured, watching as Cassie’s eyes drifted open.
The fogginess gradually disappeared, dreams faded and reality intruded.
“What time is it?” she asked, yawning.
“Almost eight,” he said, his lips tracing the slope of her shoulder.
The strap of her nightgown slid down her arm, almost baring her breast, and he peppered kisses along her exposed collarbone.
“We don’t have time for you to seduce me,” she protested, even as a moan escaped her lips when his hands eased the bodice down to expose her breasts to his heated gaze and pushed the gown lower.
“I’ll be quick,” he said, covering her body with his and nudging her thighs apart with his knee.
Ethan snagged her bottom lip between his teeth and nipped it before slanting his lips over hers. He’d just started to kiss his way down her body when he heard the sound of running feet.
Ethan barely had time to throw the covers on top of Cassie’s naked body when the bedroom door slammed open.
“It’s Wish Day! It’s Wish Day!”
Their five-year-old twin daughters, Sophie and Eloise, rushed in, singing the words excitedly at the top of their lungs.
“Daddy, you’re not wearing a shirt!” Sophie giggled.
“Girls, what have we said about knocking?” Ethan swung his legs off the bed to sit up and glared at them over his shoulder.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Cassie wriggle under the covers and then ease her back up against the headboard, the silky straps of her nightgown back in place.
“Knock first, wait for an answer and then enter,” they parroted the oft-repeated words while gazing innocently at him.
“And did you do that now?” Cassie asked, lips twisting in a half-smile as her eyes met Ethan’s exasperated expression.
“We forgot,” they said with a pout.
They launched themselves on the bed before Ethan could scold them further and started jumping up and down.
“B’sides, it’s Wish Day, Daddy,” Eloise giggled as she crashed into her sister. “It’s tra…trad…,” she stumbled over the words, “tratidition.”
“Tradition,” Ethan corrected automatically, padding into the walk-in closet.
He thought privately that his daughters were just as stubborn about celebrating traditions as their mother.
“Mommy, get up. We’ve been waiting forever to make our New Year wishes!” Sophie’s laughter mingled with her sister’s as they both bounced higher.
“Not too high, girls,” Cassie called out worriedly. “Ethan?”
Ethan returned to the bedroom, tugging a tee shirt over his head and down. He grabbed Eloise mid-bounce and then Sophie, holding each girl under his arms as if carrying a football.
They giggled when he adjusted his stance to accommodate their weight, jostling them in the process.
Cassie shook her head at their antics and shoved aside the covers to climb off the bed. She reached for the robe folded on the ottoman at the foot of the bed, and his eyes locked on the top of her breasts framed enticingly between the vee of her gown’s neckline.
She caught his stare and arched one brow. “To be continued tonight?”
After a quick glance at their daughters, now preoccupied with whispering to each other, he smirked.
“I’ll get them settled while you freshen up. Don’t take too long or…,” Ethan grinned lasciviously, scanning her from chest to crotch, “…else.”
Almost twenty minutes later, the four of them settled in front of the fireplace. Ethan wrapped one arm around Cassie’s shoulder while hers slid around his waist. The twins were nestled between them, their tiny bodies practically vibrating with excitement.
“Ready to make your New Year wish?” Cassie asked.
Eloise looked questioningly at her sister. Sophie nodded in confirmation. They both turned around and stared at their parents. Ethan noted their thoughtful expression and wondered what that was about.
“If we both make the same wish, does it come true twice?” Eloise asked.
“We want a dog,” Sophie piped in.
Ethan grinned when Cassie muttered, “Get in line” under her breath.
He knew a puppy had been on her wish list for years. In fact, if he recalled the tale correctly, it was her first wish when Robert and Olivia started the annual New Year wishes tradition.
“Why don’t you send the wish into the fireplace? You never know when the universe will grant your wish,” he added, keeping his face neutral when Cassie hissed, “Hogwash!”
“It might take years,” Eloise said, angling her head sideways as if lost in thought.
“Just like it took forever and ever for Grandpa Robbie to get his wish when he met Grandma Livvy,” Sophie added excitedly. “El, we’re getting a dog for sure!”
“And another tradition continues,” Cassie laughed as the girls babbled excitedly while scribbling their wishes on paper.
Ethan rolled his eyes in exasperation. “Times like this, they’re more Valentine than Ramsey.”
“I disagree,” Cassie snorted, laughter in her eyes. “But then I’m biased since I fell in love with a Ramsey.”
Ethan gently grasped her chin and lifted her face to gaze into her eyes. His mouth lowered and captured her lips in a tender, heart-wrenching kiss, losing himself in the magic of the moment.
Eloise and Sophie stopped writing to watch their parents kissing, shared a furtive glance and silently giggled. Forget the dog. Maybe they would get a brother instead.

Your Royal Highness (Mapi Leon x Reader)
Request can be found here x Not the biggest fan of how this turned out but here you go! Any Christmas requests still welcome! 2.5k words.
Tumblr media
You didn’t like talking about your family. You were an open book about pretty much anything else but not that, everyone simply knew that you had two brothers who you had a strained relationship with and that your mother had died when you were only a baby.
In fact you never really had anyone special in your life until you met Mapi one fateful afternoon in Barcelona just under three years ago. You’d started off as just friends but the pandemic showed you how much she really meant to you and as soon as you could you made the move a year later.
Of course when Mapi had introduced you to everyone they were all suspicious, you had an amazing penthouse in the centre of Barcelona and always paid for any meals out having only just completed your medical degree. But you just assured them that you had the money for it and wanted to treat those you now considered your own friends.
When you found out your girlfriend as well as all your best friends had been selected for the Euro’s you decided to keep your attendance a surprise, simply sending them off with all your luck. Of course you had a plan in place, having booked your leave from work months in advance to have the chance to see them play live no matter where it was being held and the implications that could have for you.
Then Alexia’s injury happened and it took all your strength to keep this secret as Mapi cried over the phone to you. Something that you could count on your hands the number of times that had happened.
All of which concluded with you sat in a stadium in London, the first time you’d been back in the city for a very long time.
Just a few rows in front of you, you spotted the La Reina herself watching the teams warm up and you couldn’t help yourself in temporarily sitting down next to her.
“I’m so sorry Alexia.” You started off, her head quickly darting in your direction. “Mind if I keep you company?”
“I guess you’ll do.” Even the injury couldn’t stop one of your best friends teasing you. “I’m guessing this is a surprise.”
“Ding ding.”
“She’s going to be so happy to see you. She literally hasn’t stopped talking about you all week, going on to all the Madrid players about how her girlfriend is a doctor, plus how, in her words, ‘hot’ you are.”
“Well there’s no lies there….”
You could see the team were struggling having lost their captain, conceding in the first minute. But they were all warriors and the 4-1 victory was definitely what they deserved.
You always loved watching Maria play but seeing her on this stage almost made you emotional. She dedicated her whole life to football and no-one deserved this more than her in your eyes.
At the end of the game the players were slowly making their way around the pitch, speaking to the fans and you took your position next to the barrier.
The first to notice you was Claudia, who almost did a double take as she made her way over to you.
“Y/N?”
“Surprise.” You couldn’t help but pull the girl into a hug. “Congratulations on the win.”
“Thank you, Mapi didn’t mention you were here.”
“That’s because she doesn’t know yet.”
Slowly one by one the players came and greeted you, even sneaking in a cuddle with Irene’s son when they all gathered around you but the woman you most wanted to see was trailing at the back, trying to speak to all the fans she could possibly see.
As she got closer you could see she was in autopilot mode right now, the smile though it speared real you could tell was fake and the chat was muted. You kept quiet as she spoke to the family next to you but once she was finished and turned your way, the tears immediately sprung into both your eyes.
“You know I’ve flown all this way, can I not even get a hug for that?” You’d barely even finished asking the question before she gathered you in her arms. The barrier between you both long forgotten as she buried her head in your neck, arms tightly wrapped around your waist. “Well done today.”
What felt like hours was merely just a few minutes as you forgot about the world around you. “Why didn’t you tell me you were here?” She pulled away but kept her arms wrapped around you, connecting your lips before you could reply, a kiss filled with emotion and love.
“I wanted to surprise you. You really thought I was going to stay at home when I could be watching you here.”
“I thought you were working.” She admitted.
“I booked this off months ago, I knew you would be here.” You assured her. “How are you feeling?”
“Things are just so tense right now, I feel like everything is just falling apart around us.” You’d been here sounding board these past few years when it came to the national team, you knew how much she loved playing for the team but you also knew how hard the federation were being on the players. “Plus Alexia is heartbroken.”
“All you need to remember now is just to control your own game.” You assured her, grasping her chin so she wouldn’t break the eye contact. “You can’t fix the problems around you, just be your amazing self and you’ll know you gave it your all.”
“When can I see you again?” She asked noticing the stewards starting to clear the area as the players began to say goodbye to their families around you.
“I’m here as long as you are, I’ll be at the games and if you’ve got any spare time just let me know.”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
Irene sent you a message when you got home that night, thanking you for the surprise and that all the girls could see an improvement in Mapi’s mood from just seeing you. Just when you thought you’d somehow gone under the radar that evening you got a message.
W: Let me know when you’re free, I think we need to catch up little sister x
…..
It wasn’t until after the group stage had finished that you could see Mapi for more than five minutes after a match. Thankfully their wins against Denmark and Finland were enough to secure them second in the group but that meant facing England, the hosts, in the quarter final.
The last few days had also been pretty stressful for yourself, you knew that coming to England would be risky and stressful but you could never have envisioned the amount they would hound you. They had somehow managed to locate the hotel you were staying at and you could see from the day after the first match there was a high but discreet security presence around you. Of course that meant speaking to your family but you didn’t mention Mapi’s name wanting to tell her yourself. Which you knew would have to be done today.
“Can you speak any English?” Mapi asked as we sat in a boat going down the Thames, your treat for the date afternoon, her arm wrapped around my shoulder as we gently drifted down the river, just the two of us and the worker.
“I wouldn’t say I’m fluent but I know quite a lot.”
“Could you ever see yourself living abroad? Like away from Barca?”
“Barca’s my home and you’re there.” You said. “I guess I’ve actually got something to tell you.”
“I knew you were distracted these past few days.” She said, moving slightly so her body was angled towards me. “What’s wrong?”
“I’ve been keeping a secret from you, well from everyone, and I don’t know what’s going to happen now so I need to tell you.”
“What secret?”
“I always told you that I had no family and whilst that is true in some ways, it’s a whole lot more complicated than what I’ve been telling you and everyone else.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” She tried to reassure you, noticing the anxiety building up in your mannerisms, gently holding your hand to stop the fidgeting.
“I moved to Barcelona when I was just five months old, I was shipped out here to be brought up by a bunch of maids and butlers. My mother had died a week earlier. My father and brothers would visit occasionally but that stopped when I was around ten years old. Since then I could count the number of times I’ve seen them on one hand.”
“So are you Spanish?”
“I now have a Spanish passport and I would consider myself Spanish but I’m actually English.”
“Shit. Have you spoken to your family since you got here?”
“That’s the thing, they’ve located me.”
“Located you?” Now there is where it gets difficult for you to explain.
“This is probably going to come as a big shock to you but my father is the Prince of Wales, my brothers are Prince William and Harry. My mother was, is, Princess Diana.”
“That’s why you have all that money?”
“They send me an allowance of sorts but I put that towards my bills and treat you all but the majority of it goes to charity. I don’t need that and I don’t really like to think that my life is built around their money when they didn’t even want me.”
“Why did they send you away like that?”
“My mother always wanted me to have a private life and then I think in the grief of everything they couldn’t cope with a baby and they shipped me away.”
“How do you feel about it all now?” She asked, gently gripping my head to rest on her shoulder.
“It’s weird because when they reached out to me it didn’t feel like I was going to meet my family. I met with them yesterday and I just didn’t feel anything. I have my family in Barcelona, in my friends, in you. I’ll always be sad for the family I could have had but I’m more than happy with the life I’ve made.”
“What’s going to happen now?”
“When I spoke to them they were keen to make an effort now but I guess we’ll just see, I personally hope the news never gets out. That’s why I wanted to tell you though, I want you to find out from me and I’ll tell the rest of the team as well.”
“They were the ones that missed out. You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met and I’m so lucky to have you in my life.”
“Wow is this Maria getting soppy?”
“Shut up. You know I hate that name as well.”
“Not when it’s me.” You were the only person she would allow to call her Maria, first it started off as a joke but it developed into your own little thing.
“Just to confirm who will you be supporting at the match now I know you have connections with the enemy?”
“Spain Maria, always.”
…..
That night Mapi managed to sneak you back into the team meal to see the players before the game in a few days’ time. Thankfully they had split off into smaller groups and this was just the friends that you had in the Spanish team from Barca.
“Where did you two go today?” Claudia asked as we sat down. “I’ve literally not seen you all day.”
“Aww did you miss us.” You teased. “I actually took her on a boat cruise down the Thames, just us two.”
“You little romantic.” Patri teased. “Turning all British to see the sights.”
“Yeah about that….” It felt like now was the right time to tell all your closest friends. “I’ve actually got something to tell you all.”
“You’re pregnant?” Claudia shouted.
“Shut up Pina.”
“You’re getting married?” Aitana added.
“No this is actually about me.” You felt Mapi grab your hand underneath the table, softly tracing patterns on the back of your palm. “I want to be honest with you all and since we’re in England a lot of things have happened. Since Mapi introduced me to you all, you’ve all been so welcoming and took me into your little family and I couldn’t be more grateful for you all.”
You took a sip of water just to calm the nerves, receiving a reassuring smile from Mapi.
“I know you hate that I spend my money on you but you really don’t need to worry about that because… well because I’m part of the British royal family.”
“What?”
“Shit.” Patri almost began to choke on her food but composed herself. “You’re going to need to explain this one a bit more.”
“So basically I was taken away to Barcelona as a child, I’ve grew up there since I was a baby but my father is Prince Charles.”
“Do we have to call you Princess Y/N now?” Irene teased, noticing your tense posture and bringing the conversation back down.
“Yeah Mapi you’re actually dating a real-life Princess.” Claudia added. “We’re all going to have to bow to you now.”
You couldn’t be more thankful to the way they just brushed over the news. You knew there would be more questions in the future but now maybe wasn’t the right place to ask them. “No bowing and no titles. You’re my family and as much as I might share a blood with those people they have nothing over you lot. Even though you’re all crazy and you drive me insane sometimes you’ve all given me a family that I could only dream of.”
“We all love you too.” Irene said. “Just as long as you keep our Mapi happy.”
“Always.”
“Did Mapi know?”
“I told her today, a lot’s happened since I got here and I just want to be honest with you all.”
“Wait!” Aitana almost shouted. “Does this mean you’re going to be supporting the enemy? We can’t have a traitor among us.”
“Don’t worry I’ll still be team Spain.”
“Good.”
Even if they didn’t win that match against Spain, falling short after an injury time winner, they still all did you proud. You made sure to remind Mapi of that as you shared a hug after the match, another barrier between you and fans all around you, yet it felt like you were the only two people in the World.
“You know England may have won today but you’ve got something they’ll never have.” You whispered in her ear.
“Oh yeah?”
“My heart.”
“I love you so much and no matter what happens with your family and everything, you’ll always have me. I couldn’t care less if you only had a euro to your name, you’re everything I want.”
“Mapi…”
“Maybe this could give you a new nickname as well, I think Princesa is quite fitting.”
“Stop…”

hii could i please request a little hurt/comfort drabble where reader feels sad during christmas season but forces herself to at least pretend to be happy because karma’s birthday is on christmas day :( but karma notices how her smile doesn’t meet her eyes and stuff and asks reader about it!
Tumblr media
Smile For Him | Karma x Reader
Pairing: Karma x Reader Summary: Your life has been falling apart due to the recent events of your parent's divorce. But since it's Christmas and your boyfriend's birthday, you tried to act as if everything is okay, but Karma sees through your fake smile.
●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●
It's supposed to be the happiest time of the year. It's your boyfriend's birthday and Christmas. The holiday spirit has to be overflowing you by now. But, it isn't, no matter how much you wanted it to be. Last year, you were spending time with your family. Everything was perfect. And here you are, one year later, living with your mother, talking about what the two of you would be doing on Christmas.
A Christmas without your father. He's out of town. Separating from your mother took a number on his mental health, so he is spending the holidays with your grandparents. You won't see him until January.
Of course, your mother understands that this was hard on you, but promises you that Christmas with her could still be fun. You guys talked about it a bit more but decided that you would rather spend Christmas with Karma instead.
She tried not to get too offended and figured it was for the best.
You did feel better knowing you would be spending the day with him. However, the pain of your parent's separation stopped you from being fully content.
When you saw him, you made sure to keep a smile on your face. It's Christmas and it's his special day. You can't have your personal problems ruin his day. Especially since Karma has already been your rock throughout the entire divorce procedure.
"Guess which hand is holding your gift." Karma smiles, keeping both of his hands behind his back.
You looked up from your hot cocoa and blinked.
"Oh. You didn't have to get me anything."
"It may be my birthday, but it's still Christmas. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't give my favourite girl anything?"
Normally, you would internally swoon when he calls you his favourite girl, but not today.
"Now hurry up and pick a hand." He urged you.
You weren't really in the mood to play this game with him, but, it is his birthday. The least you could do is play along.
"Um..." Your eyes lazily darted between both hands. "The left one."
Karma grinned. "Correct." He reveals your gift that looked perfectly wrapped. "Actually, I was using both hands to hold it so either way you won."
You strained a smile and accepted the present before putting your hot cocoa on the table.
"Thanks, Karma."
Before you can even open it, Karma places a hand on your lower back to push you forward to let you rest your forehead against his chest.
"You don't have to pretend everything is okay for my sake," Karma spoke softly with a smile and a gentle pat. "I mean, it's cute that you're trying, but I don't want to see a fake smile on your pretty face."
His hug and gentle words caused you to reach your breaking point.
Unable to control yourself, you started to shake as tears were building up until it all came pouring out.
You cried and cried, even if you promised yourself you wouldn't today, worried you would ruin something that was considered a magical day.
Karma didn't think you ruined it, though. Just having you try and make his day special was enough for him.
When you stopped, you were able to enjoy Christmas with Karma somewhat.
Maybe next year you will be in a much better place.

Kyle was happy when Price decided to send him on a special training mission across the pond to the states, at least he was for a while. But then FOMO hit him when he realized that he would be missing out on a few missions. The training would last for a few months. Two months too long in his opinion, but here he was those months later and he had finally completed his training. Kyle was certain that his Captain would be proud to learn that he had made it to the top of the class.
Now, he only had a few days left before he had to ship back out to the UK. He’d planned to chill in the barracks and maybe go to a bar for a couple of drinks. However, that was not the case when he received a random text from his cousin.
Sarah had moved out to California from their hometown after she got accepted into UCLA. She was very excited when she heard about her acceptance. Kyle believed it was because she could now party it up without the scary eyes of their very religious grandmother baring down their necks. At least that’s how he felt when he first left home to join the military.
Sarah had invited him to go out to a festival or perhaps it was a rave? He wasn’t sure because he had never been to one before so this was sure to be a new experience. He’d never been one to party, even less given that he’s living a military and not a typical college life style. However, he can say that he can handle his own with a couple of pints.
He glanced back to her text to make sure that he had input the address correctly. He was lucky that her new home wasn’t too far from the base he was staying at so he could take the bus that ran through the base. Sarah had decided that the gloomy skies of England were no match to the sunny skies of Los Angeles, so after graduating she found a job in engineering and found a place to call her own. He was honestly happy for her and was genuinely surprised that she had messaged him since they had not talked in several years. He had a suspicion that their grandmother called her about him being there.
The bus stop was only a few blocks away from Sarah’s house so he had to walk the rest of the way. It was early, almost 8 am on a Saturday, so Kyle was certain that his cousin was likely still sleeping in. He made sure that his walk took longer by taking in his environment. It must have been because of his military mindset that had him checking the area for security risks. He knows that L.A. has a bad rep but his cousin living in a decent neighborhood didn’t mean that there were no risks. Kyle didn’t see that many people out that early. Only a few dogs walkers and a mother pushing a stroller with a baby that seemed not too happy to have been woken from their sleep based on theirs incessant crying. Kyle winced when they walked by.
Kyle made it to his cousin’s door in 15 minutes. She opened the door after two knocks with a few minutes in between.
“Kyle! You’re here!” She engulfed him in a tight hug, her arms squeezing against his torso with enough strength to pop his back. “Ahhh!! It’s been forever!”
“Gah!” He wheezed as his arms were crushed to his sides. “You have gotten a lot stronger, Sarah. Please let me go.”
“Oh! Sorry. Sorry. I get a bit excited about this stuff. You know me!” Sarah let him go and cover her mouth with her hand to try to hide her laughter. Then, she flexes an arm. “I just did arm day so I’m pretty pumped.”
Kyle laughs, “Your noodle arms are nothing compared to mine.” He teased her while flexing his larger arm muscles. It was like they were back to being kids and laughing and making fun of each other.
“Har. Har. Kyle!” She rolled her eyes and gestured into her home. “Get your ass inside, Popeye.”
“Who?” His brow rose. She stared at him blankly.
“Just get in, you uncultured swine!” Sarah started pushing his back to get him in. He resisted of course, but after a few seconds he let her have her way and stepped through the threshold.
They settled on the couch and began to catch up. He learned about her job and that although it wasn’t her dream job, she was still happy about working there. Kyle didn’t tell her that much about his work being that almost all of it was classified but he shared that he too enjoyed working with his team. Overall, they were happy that the other was happy.
“Now, what’s this about a rave? Festival?” Kyle felt like he didn’t know what he was saying. “You wanted to go out later tonight?”
“Yeah! It’s a rave with festival vibes.” Sarah explained and he nodded along. “We have to dress up a bit so we can look cool I guess. That’s why I wanted you to come a bit early, though not this early!”
“Sorry.” She chuckled at him.
“Don’t worry about it. I should have known that with you military types that I should have specified the exact time. That’s on me. But! Now we have more time to go over what you’re going to wear!”
If Sarah could be more excited she’d be bouncing off the walls and out the door. Her face bright like the huge grin pulling at her lips.
“Oh… I was just gonna go like this.” He gestured at himself but apparently that did not go over so well with Sarah. She had a grossed out face.
“A button up with kakis? What are you Jake from State Farm?” Another cultural reference that he lacked an understanding of. Sarah’s accent had become more Americanized but her British voice would shine through on the occasion. “No, no, no! I will not be seen with you dressed like that, love!”
She stood up. “I think I know what to do.”
Kyle almost panicked. “Please, no cheeks handing out and nothing too girly.” His brows furrowed together. “Damn… what would my team say if they saw me like this??”
“They’d say nothing because they would see that you had girls hanging off of you. You know some girls like men who are in touch with their feminine side?”
“I don’t have a feminine side.” He pouted.
“Well, now you do!” Kyle cursed himself at being more open about what she could dress him in. He just hoped no pictures made it back to the Task Force.
~~~~~
Kyle and Sarah walked amongst the crowd heading into the music festival grounds. There were so many people there, and from what he could see, not so many security guards or police. His training had him looking around and eyeing any suspicious looking people. Although that was kinda hard when every other person had their ass and titties hanging out, with even more glitter on their bodies than he had.
They made it through security which was just a metal detector and the guards checking their bags. Then their passes were scanned and off into the throng of people they went.
“My friends texted that they were near the food stalls.” Sarah glanced up from her phone. “I told them we’d meet up with them. Come on, let’s go!”
She took off and Kyle followed after her. He felt like a protective older brother as he glared at anyone who gave her weird looks of lust. Sarah was pretty and everywhere she went she always garnered looks of appreciation from strangers. She was currently wearing a yellow outfit that complimented her skin tone rather well. Her hair was long and styled back in curls. Large hoops adorned her ears. She was also wearing a large yellow coat which he thought she was crazy for because of the heat, but she assured him that it would get colder as the night went on. He was certain that her new white shoes wouldn’t stay that way afterwards.
~~~
His own outfit wasn’t too bad if he was honest, although the sheer crop top was new for him. He liked the baggy pants that Sarah picked out and he paired it with his black combat boots. Sarah had given him two thumbs up and started messing around with her makeup bag. He was checking his outfit out in front of the mirror when he saw a hand with a makeup brush making its way to his face.
“Woah! What’ya doin’!?” He pushed her hand away. Sarah huffed.
“Just adding to the vibes. Come on it’s just some glitter, you’ll look so hot that girls will be falling all over you.” She grinned.
“You say that but I’m not so sure…” He squinted at her.
“Ugh! Just let go!” She shook her arm around.
“Okay, Elsa.”
“Bitch-!”
~~~~~
Sarah found her friends in the crowd by the food stalls. She squealed and yanked on his arm in their direction. Introductions were made and the group went together where the concerts were happening. The crowd wasn’t as pushed together as Kyle thought but he never took his eyes off the group for too long, not wanting to lose sight of his cousin. Call him overprotective if you want.
They found a spot near the middle of the crowd. The girls danced around him and he bobbed his head to the music despite it not being to his taste. Maybe he tapped his foot but he won’t admit it. Although, he’ll admit that the live band was rather good.
From the corner of his eye he saw arms shoot up and wave around. He followed the movement down and saw the form of a girl dancing and singing along to the song. Her wrists had multiple beaded bracelets, fingernails perfectly manicured. Her lips were in a smile, sparkling with her lipgloss, and her eyes reflected the bright colors of the strobe lights. Her makeup was pretty but he had no real knowledge about that. The more he looked the wider his eyes dilated.
The girl wore a black three-piece bra, high-waisted bikini bottoms and skirt-wrap combo with flowers and tuffs of faux feathers. Her arms had long sleeves and she wore a matching choker necklace. Chains dangled from her form and bounced as she jumped and danced. His eyes lowers down her legs and to her feet in very tall heels that he was amazed she was jumping around in. He thought she’d break an ankle.
When his eyes went back to her face, she was already looking at him. Brow raised in question and lips slightly pouted. Damn those lips. He flinched back a bit when their eyes connected. His cheeks burned at realizing she caught him eyeing her up.
“Hi!” She said rather shyly, or really, she yelled over the music.
It took him a moment to respond. “Hello, Miss?”
She yelled her name but said that everyone called her Angel, and he gave his own in return. The music changed to a faster beat and the people around him were dancing closer to each other.
“Wanna dance?” Her hand reached for his, fingertips sliding softly up on his forearm. He could feel the slight scratch of her nails. It sent shivers up his back.
He felt like a teenager with the slight nod to her question he gave. His damn voice was caught in his throat. He was better than this. Smoother at flirting with pretty ladies but right now all of his experience was failing him.
She giggled at him, not that he could hear it but felt it as she drew herself closer to his chest. Her breasts pressed to his shear shirt. Her hips swayed with the music and his hands automatically rested themselves there. Angel raised her hands, gliding them on his chest. Her fingers teased the sides of his throat before curling behind his neck.
As her nails scratched the short hairs there, he brought her hips closer to his. She was definitely aware that she was affecting him physically. He ground his hardness against her. They both moaned at the feeling. His eyes were droopy with lust, they glanced at her pouty lips. Someone from behind bumped him closer and he let his lips lock with hers.
Kyle’s hand tangled in her hair pulling her closer. She moaned and his tongue slipped past and tangled with hers. He tasted her lipgloss and the sweetness of the alcohol she drunk earlier that night. Both reveled in each other’s touch.
The moment was cut short by whoops and whistles to their left. When they separated, Kyle looked over and saw his cousin and her friends cheering him on. Sarah must have noticed that he wasn’t as close to them as before. His cousin gave him a thumbs up and a fist pump. The girl in his arms hid herself in his chest, her cheeks warming. As if she wasn’t just grinding up on him as they were making out.
“Ah… sorry, that’s my cousin and her friends.” He chuckled, abashed.
“It’s okay.” Angel smiled at him, taking in his pretty eyes.
~~~~~
They spent the next few hours dancing, kissing, and occasionally touching more than what would be socially acceptable. During one of the set changes, Kyle introduced her to his cousin and her friends. They hit it off rather quickly. At the end of their night, Sarah decided to stay overnight with her friends and Kyle chose to go home with Angel after she invited him. Her apartment wasn’t too far from where they were at anyways.
“I’m sorry… I don’t usually do this. Bringing home a stranger.” She glanced down. Her cheeks burned in embarrassment.
“Don’t worry. I don’t do that either.” His lips tugged into a small grin.
She looked up at him and smiled softly. Her eyes drifted to his lips. Kyle noticed and began to inch forward until their lips met. It was soft. Her lips and the motions were slow and sweet. Very different to the one in the heat of the festival. Her hands rubbed up his mesh shirt, nails scratching softly through the thin fabric before clasping tightly behind his neck. His own hands rubbed on her waist in slow circular motions.
Their kisses and touches ached and Kyle began to quickly lead her back into the room. Not that he knew where he was going. His first mistake as the beautiful woman he was currently in a delicious lip lock fell from his arms.
She yelped when her body hit the back of her couch. The suddenness of it causing her to tip backwards. She landed on the plush cushions with a soft ‘oof.’ Kyle looked down at her in shock, mouth open but no words came out. Part of her legs and feet dangled over the top. She looked up at him, eyes glancing back and forth between his own, dumbfounded before her the corners of her lips turned up and a giggle started. Then it turned into full blown laughter. Kyle grinned at her cute reaction and joined with a chuckle.
She lifted her hands up to him and as he began to pull her up, she yanked him down over the couch with her. Giggling all the while. His arms stretched out to catch himself on the cushions. He could barely think before her lips were on him once again. This time there was more heat to it. More passion.
Her hands were cupping his face. Fingers rubbing softly against his freshly shaven face. He shifted their bodies into a more comfortable position and put his weight onto one arm before bringing the other hand up. He let it glance lightly against her body until it rested softly against the crook of her neck and shoulder. His thumb rubbing her neck with an equal softness.
He felt more than he heard the soft groan that left her lips, muffled by his own. Her legs shifted and he felt her knees up against his hips. Kyle gave into the temptation and lowered his lower body until he was flush against her. This time he heard her moan. He shivered in delight.
Her tongue flicked out to lick his lips and he let her in. Their tongues danced against one another. Damn he loved the taste of her.
Angel pushed him back so that she could reach behind her to unclip her top. His mouth immediately latched on her nipple. Her back arched, a pleasured sigh escaping her lips. She felt herself getting wet, her slick soaking her black bottoms and she bucked her hips into Kyle’s. His moan vibrated through her chest.
Kyle kissed her chest some more before sliding back and removing his shirt and unbuttoning his pants. Her hands helped him pull them down, leaving him in his boxers.
“Where’s your bed?” He held her hands and helped her up off the couch. Angel led him to her room, she removed the rest of her clothes and heels and laid her bare self on the soft bed. Kyle stood by the doorway and just stared at her beauty. Her legs were slightly open and he could see the glimmer of her slick weeping from her pussy.
Angel’s face burned at his intense gaze. “Kyle?”
That broke him out of his lustful haze, swiftly removing his boxers. He hung heavily, his arousal twitching against his navel. The tip flushed and his veins throbbing. Angel licked her lips as he grew closer.
Her hand reached for his cock but was quickly intercepted by Kyle’s larger hand. “Let me…”
Angel let herself fall back as Kyle took his place between her legs. Instantly sucking and licking at her soaked pussy. His hands held firmly on her thighs, not letting her rub against his head. Kyle’s tongue flicked on her clit and she moaned rather loudly that she was sure she’d get a complaint about it later.
“Oh, fuck! Kyle!” Her nails scratched at his short hair.
The wet, juicy sounds of her slick and Kyle’s sucking turned her own, making her even more wet. He licked stripes up and down her pussy, then slipped a finger in rather easily. She was panting now, little moans interdicted with louder ones.
He added a second and then a third, really stretching her out for him. The bed sheets had her juices pooled beneath her. His fingers pumped faster and his mouth sucked harder on her clit. She moaned loudly as her walls clamped down on his fingers as she orgasmed around them. The sounds coming from her nearly made Kyle cum but he held the base of his cock with his free hand to stop his load from blowing too early.
His fingers slipped from her pussy and he watched as her slick lips clenched around nothing.
“Kyle, please…” Her eyes were pleading, flicking between his eyes and his straining dick.
“Angel…” He moaned as he tapped his tip against her clit. She wiggled her lower half in an attempt to get him inside her. She whined when he pulled away but groaned as Kyle pushed his tip just barely inside.
He huffed and then pushed all the way in, earning himself beautiful, pleasure-filled noises. He was halfway in when she half sat up and pulled him closer, locking their mouths in a heated kiss. His hips jerked forward the final few inches until their hips were touching. His arms and thighs shook from the pleasure he was feeling. Her plush pussy was sucking him in, clenching against his thick cock. Desperately trying to milk him for what he’s got. And he had a lot to give.
The first few thrusts were overstimulating, so Kyle went torturously slow. It didn’t last too long before he was pounding into her sweet pussy faster. Their bodies coming together created wet lewd sounds. His cum filled balls slapped against her ass with each hard connection. Kyle could feel her wetness dripping down his balls. The viscous fluid becoming creamier with each thrust.
“There ya go, love.” Kyle panted. “Look at those tits bouncing every, every time I fuck my cock into ya.”
He looked down at her boobs bouncing with his thrusts. A hand reached out to pinch at her nipple. Her hips bucked in sync with his.
“Ah! Ah! Kyle!” He pinched and twisted her nipple harder. “Fuck! Fuck!”
He thrusted his cock into her faster than before. His balls beginning to tighten while her walls clenched harder onto him.
“Kyle~!” Her voice going a higher pitch. The bed creaked with their thrusts.
“Shit! Ah! That’s it, love!” Kyle’s eyes began to roll back as his creamy cum left his body and streamed into hers. “Yes, ah! Fuck! Fuck!”
The feeling of Kyle’s hot cum squirting into her made Angel cum harder than she’s ever cummed before. Her legs shook violently and her back arched off the bed. Kyle’s pace slowed but her didn’t slip out as he came to a stop. Both panted hard and Kyle wrapped his arms around her, flipping them over still connected.
A surprised squeak slipped her lips and he chuckled. Then she groaned softly at the new position. He didn’t move, however, instead tightening his hold on her.
“Cuddler?” She teased, palms splayed over his chest. She could feel how fast his heart was beating as he took deep breaths.
“Can’t blame me for hugging an Angel.” The laugh that shook her body was making Kyle giddy. The movement made him groan as her pussy clenched on his softening cock.
“S-sorry.” She bit her lip. She took the moment to push against him and he let her go. Kicking a leg over, his cock slipped out along with a gush of his cum. “Ah!”
Kyle hissed as his cock slapped against him covered in both their fluids. He felt his dick hardening watching his cum drip from her twitching pussy lips.
Angel then laid next to him, her head resting against his chest. Her hand reached over his stomach to his hand. She held it as she slipped one of her bracelets she made for the festival over onto his wrist.
“To remember me…” She said it so softly, he almost missed it if he wasn’t staring at her in awe. His cheeks burned as feelings he’s rarely ever felt before churned in his chest. Her dilated eyes looking back just as fervently.
On its own, Kyle’s hand reached for her chin pulling her into a deep kiss. She moved over him again, one of his hands on her ass cheek to help not that she needed it. He gave it a tight squeeze making her moan into his mouth.
They continued their moment together past sunrise. Kyle made sure to bring her pleasure as many times as Angel could take. He hoped he’d spend more time with her in the future but knew it was unlikely since he lived on another continent. Silently, she hoped the same thing.

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa (One Shot)
Tumblr media
Request
Can you do something absolutely adorable with " I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" where either Lena or Reader dresses up as Santa at Christmas night to hide presents under a tree and their child sees one kissing the other in a santa suit and comments on it the next morning at breakfast. Maybe the adults do more later. The child is asking if their parents are breaking up because somebody kissed Santa. Cue awkward Lena x R trying to either avoid or come up with an explanation to what the child saw.
A/N: Hello, my darlings! So, i guess Christmas time has officially started, and here it is to the last month of this year. Thank you for this great request, just in time for the holidays, I hope you enjoy it! Love y’all!
Lena Luthor x R//Word Count: 3,181 -------------------------------------------------------
"Why am I doing this, again?" You asked as the cold winter wind made your teeth rattle.
"Because you love our kids and you want to see them happy." Your wife answered with a hint of amusement in her voice.
"I'm starting t-to question that."
"No, you don't." Lena  chuckled.
"No, I don't." You sighed and smiled.
It was a little past midnight when you found yourself walking outside your home, trying not to slip and fall on your face. You felt your body shiver, your fingers were cold, and you couldn't feel your face even when you were engulfed in a Santa Claus costume. Red suit, velvet cape, red and white hat, black boots, and a thick white beard that covered half your face, and you carried a bag with the gifts you had prepared for your kids. Still, couldn't feel warm.
But you only had yourself to blame for that.
The winter holidays had started a couple of weeks back. You and Lena had made plans to be able to spend as much time as possible with your two little kids at home. You had been enjoying yourselves so far with your own little home rituals, coffee and pancakes for breakfast, finishing chores during the morning until it was time for lunch, playing with your kids outside after it, watching movies in the afternoon, and playing some more until It was time for bed.
You had also spent so much time decorating your house and setting your Christmas tree. Lena had bought an excessive amount of decorations since your kids were babies because she wanted to make the holidays super special for them always and, needless to say, your kids were always excited by all of it.
However, they were their mother's children and something started to occur during this particular Christmas This time around they had started to question the nature of Santa Claus himself and Lena, who had dedicated her life to science and truth, was pretty adamant about keeping the illusion for the sake of your children's dreams and hopes. That's when you came up with the brilliant idea of catching Santa.
The plan was simple, you would put a camera on the living room during Christmas Eve, go to sleep and, while your kids waited for their gifts to be dropped, you would have video proof of Santa working his night shift. Very simple indeed, but people had their doubts.
Your children complained first. Little (Y/D/N) was the first one to come up with questions. She was your eldest child and the most cautious, most like Lena, who wanted to observe as Santa visited your home. She wanted to stay awake the whole night, hiding in the shadows were she could watch the whole thing. Sweet (Y/S/N), your youngest, seconded his sister's ideas. He too wanted to stay awake and watch how Santa used his powers and, of course, what he had brought to him as he had been a really nice boy, only bothering her sister once in a while. Lena also had her doubts about your plan but she wasn't about to discuss them with you in front of her kids.
After putting your kids to bed, that's when the real conversation started. Lena was on interrogation mode the moment she closed your room's door behind her.
"So, what are you exactly planning?" She had asked with a raised brow.
"Okay, just hear me out." You had raised your hands at her. "I got an idea."
She had been skeptical at first but she warmed at the idea. You were going to put a camera on the living room looking right at where your chimney was placed. There was a window close to it, so you would use it to enter the house. With a costume and the help of her image inducer, you would pretend to be Santa and edit a video with you falling from the chimney, leaving the gifts, eating a cookie and leaving. Just like Santa would do. Easy peasy.
What you forgot to take in account was that you would have to sneak around your own home, in the middle of the night with a blizzard outside, just to reach a window.
But you didn't mind because, like your wife had said, you wanted to make your children happy.
"Remember, you need to stand by the chimney so the camera spots you." You heard Lena over your earbuds.
"Got it." You replied and followed your plan.
You walked slowly, rounding your house, trying not to trip on the snow. A few lights were on in the living room so you could see in and out of it, making it easier to sneak inside the house. When you reached the window closest to the chimney, you left the gift bag on the floor for a moment and took a deep breath. You raised your hands towards the window, searching for the lock and tried to pull it open. Once, twice, thrice, until it was clear it wasn't going to open. You couldn't figure out if this was due to your cold fingers or if the window had been closed shut without you noticing.
"Love?" You called your wife.
"Yes?"
"Did you close the window?"
"Close? No, I checked it twice before we went to bed. Try again."
So you did, but it didn't open.
"It's stuck." You sighed, feeling a bit tired already. "Love, I don't feel my fingers anymore so, do you think you can come and help me?"
"Oh, darling. Of course, on my way."
"Love you, thank you."
"I will have to go to the window in the dinning room, I don't want the camera spotting me too." Lena whispered as she opened the door to the hall, walking on her tip toes, trying not to wake up your kids.
"Okay, gotta walk a little more." You said as you grabbed the gift bag.
The dinning room window wasn't far from where you were, only a few meters away. When you got close you saw Lena's shadow behind the curtain and you smiled as she approached. She pulled the curtain aside just in time to see you walking straight towards her.
"Oh goodness, it's freezing." She said as she opened the window, letting the cold wind rush inside.
"I know." You say letting out the steam of your breath.
You raised the gift bag first, moving it slowly inside. Lena helped you with it and then did the same with you as you jumped inside. She grabbed your hands and felt how cold you actually were. Another minute outside and you would have been turned into an icicle. She kept her hands on yours, trying to give you some warmth.
"Thanks." You shivered. "Are they still upstairs?"
"Yeah, sleeping like rocks". She smiled and moved her hands to rub your arms.
"Good, I just need a minute."
"You're going to need more than a minute, darling." She smirked. "But if you hurry, we can do something to warm you up in less than that."
You stopped for a moment, processing her words. She didn't need to say more. "Gotta work."
You pulled her towards you, giving her a quick kiss on the lips, smiling and pulling away to take the gift bag again. As you turned around with a smile on your face you headed towards the chimney, ready to complete your task. You could heard your wife chuckling as you marched on, activating the image inducer and transforming yourself fully into good old Santa.
You walked into the living room, placed yourself near the chimney and, like an action stunt, you rolled on the floor near it. With a little jump, to give it an extra effect once the video was edited, you stood on your feet and approached the Christmas tree. No present had been damaged in the process and you proceeded to pull and place each one of them underneath the tree. In less than a minute you were done and, with a satisfied smile, you went to take a cookie from the plate your kids had set on the coffee table, with a handwritten note that indicated such delicacies were destined for, and only for, Santa. You laughed the traditional ho, ho, ho's, ate the cookie and finally turned around.
"How did I do it?" You asked once you were back into your wife's arms.
"That was pretty impressive." She said smiling.
"Now that the deed is done, I remember you saying something about warming up in this cold winter night."
"I did." Lena nodded and leaned to give you a long sweet kiss on the lips. It was enough to feel the heat blooming under your skin.
A moment later, while you moved through the house trying not to make any noise, you reached your bedroom, closing the door behind you. Your wife helped you get off the Santa costume between kisses and before you went to bed you asked her if the video would be ready for the next day. She assured you Hope, her AI, would get it ready in no time.
Needless to say, with that settled, you had a great Christmas Eve. Then Christmas morning came in the blink of an eye.
It was the screaming and jumping that woke you up first.
(Y/S/N) had entered your room, jumping into your bed as you laid still in your wife's arms.
"Santa was here! Santa was here!" He chanted as you felt his little body fall on yours with the force of a hammer.
"Easy, buddy, easy." You said with a groggy voice as you tried to seat. "What are you doing so early?"
"Santa brought us gifts!"
"Yes, he did, my darling. " Lena caught him in her arms, she dragged him between you two and started to tickle him for a second, causing him to burst out laughing.
"Where did you left your sister?" You placed a kiss on his head once he calmed down. "Hope she isn't opening her presents without us."
"She's in her room." He answered.
"Still sleeping?" You looked at Lena with a raised brow.
"What if you go and wake up your sister, then you can see what surprises Santa left for you." Your wife prompted your son.
"Yeah!" He beamed and, after turning to hug you both, he went to wake up her sister.
You kissed your wife good morning, not really wanting to get up. You were still dwelling on the night you had with her, a very wonderful, magical and warm night that could only be compared to paradise. But duty called.
After leaving your bed, you and Lena headed to the kitchen. As you poured some coffee for the two of you, Lena checked on Hope, her little device placed on the kitchen counter, to see if the video was finished. It didn't disappoint. While you watched a few seconds of the video, you could almost swear that wasn't you but the actual Santa coming down the chimney with his bag of gifts.
"What do you think?" Lena asked as she held the tablet with the video playing.
"I think we caught Santa." You stood behind her, leaning with your chin on her shoulder. You smiled then and kissed her cheek, hoping it was enough for your children too.
A moment later, you heard your son walking down the stairs with another set of steps right behind. You walked to the living room, waiting for them. Your son was still jumpy, while your daughter, that seemed unusually tired, was rubbing her eyes.
"Merry Christmas." You said as you waited for them.
"Merry Christmas!" Your son exclaimed launching himself towards you. You hugged him and kissed his little head again.
"Merry Christmas." Your daughter replied and stood awkwardly at the end of the stairs.
Your son then went to hug Lena and she lifted him in her arms.
"Are you ready to open your presents?" She asked your kids.
"And then we can watch Santa!" Your son but screamed at your wife in excitement.
"Oh, yes." You smiled. "Seems we caught something on camera, but first your presents. Let's see if you were a good boy this year."
"I was!"
"Of course you were, my darling." Lena kissed him one last time before putting him down and he ran towards the Christmas tree.
"What are you doing, sweetheart?" You said looking at your daughter, who approached you shyly. You took a step towards her, grabbing her head and placing too a little kiss at the top of it. "C'mon, let's see what Santa brought you."
You let her go to join her brother and looked at Lena with a questioning look in your eyes as you daughter sat silently near the Christmas tree, watching her brother grab his presents. Your wife seemed as confused as you but she didn't voice her suspicions, so you had no other choice but to join your kids in the living room, wanting to see their reactions to the gifts you and Lena had prepared for them. You hoped your daughter's expression would change after opening hers. Lena sat on the couch nearby and you sat with your children on the floor.
(Y/S/N) was the first one to open his presents. He teared the wrapping with his little hands and screamed once again after seeing his long waited green lightsaber. He had become a fan of sci-fi movies recently and wanted nothing more but to be one of those intergalactic warriors so, to prepare him for her cosmic duties, you and Lena had agreed that would be a good present. Thankfully, he loved it and started to play with it right away. Other gifts were temporally forgotten as he ran around the living room.
On the other hand, (Y/D/N) seemed a bit hesitant when she started to open her first gift. It was a big box and she started to tear the wrapping little by little, as if afraid she would break whatever was inside. Her eyes were bright and a wide smile appeared on her face when she realized what was inside, a pair of skates she had been asking since the summer. However, her smile didn't last long.
"Sweetie, what's wrong?" Lena finally asked, watching her daughter's expression change so suddenly. "Isn't this what you asked Santa for?"
"Don't you like them?" You asked too.
She nodded but said nothing, something that finally made your parent instincts kick into action.
"Hey, what's wrong?" You approached her and repeated the question as you caressed her cheek. "You know you can tell us anything."
Lena had already seated herself at the edge of the couch, waiting for her answer while your son, unaware of the tension you were feeling, played with his new toy on the other corner of the room.
She looked at you both, fear and uncertainty clear in her eyes. "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus."
You were startled for a moment. That was not an answer you had been prepared to hear and you found yourself confused.
"You saw your mommy kissing Santa Claus?" You raised your brows in surprise and turned to look at Lena, who had the same expression. "Like when? How?"
"Last night. I wanted to see Santa, so I came down the stairs when I heard the noises. He was there and he gave mom a kiss." Your daughter said and pointed at the exact spot where you and Lena had been.
You let out a long sigh after realizing what had happened. (Y/D/N), your precious and smart little girl, had sneaked the night before, surely standing in the stairs without you noticing as you played your part and, after that, she had seen you kiss her mother. She had returned to her room after witnessing such thing, that's why you didn't see her when you and Lena went back to your own bedroom.
"Are you breaking up?" Your daughter looked as if she was about to cry.
"What? No, no, no." You closed the distance between you and your daughter and wrapped your arms around her.
"Of course not, sweetie." Lena left the couch, seating next to you.
"Then why was mom kissing Santa?"
"Well, uh..." You looked at your wife, trying to come up with an answer but she returned the same look.
"Mommy kissed Santa?" Your son had stopped playing with his lightsaber and was very much aware now of what was happening.
"Well..." You started and you children stared at you expectantly. "Remember Santa has superpowers, right?"
Two little heads nodded at you and you looked at your wife for some help.
"Like superspeed, so he can deliver his gifts all over the world in one night, or when he comes down the chimney when he's really big?" She added as she gestured your son to join your little circle on the floor.
Again, two nods.
"Well, he has more superpowers and one of them is, uh, he may kiss you to make you forget...that you saw him." You said with a shrug and you looked at your wife who was amused at your answer.
There was a moment of silence in which your children seemed to ponder what you had just said. While your son looked a bit confused, your daughter frowned and looked at the floor, probably trying to make sense of that new little piece of information she had about Santa Claus.
"So, mom doesn't remember?" (Y/D/N) turned to look at your wife.
"I remember having a weird dream." Lena hummed. "But nothing about seeing Santa last night."
"Then, why Santa didn't kiss me too?" Your daughter inquired.
"Maybe because he didn't realize you were watching him, darling."
"And good thing he didn't. We don't want you kissing an old man." You added with a serious tone.
"Ewww." Your kids said in unison.
Lena and you laughed at that but, after it, your daughter looked like herself again, all signs of worry gone from her little face.
"Can we watch Santa's video?" Your son asked, reminding you of the video Hope had been editing all night.
You and Lena agreed. She went to take the tablet and you and your kids watched in wonder as the video played exactly as you had planned. Hope did a wonderful job at detailing your costume and at showing all the magical things Santa was supposed to do. You let your kids repeat the video as many times as they wanted, and with the crisis averted, you grabbed your wife's hand and kissed her knuckles.
"So, you don't remember kissing Santa, uh?" You said playfully and in a whisper.
"I don't." Lena smiled. "But I do remember having a wonderful Christmas Eve."
"As you should, and I'm going to make sure you too get a Christmas you will never forget." You said as you leaned to kiss her.
Having this moment with them was the best gift you could ever have.
