I am begging horror outlets to understand that “final girl” is a slasher-specific trope oh my god if a movie isn’t a slasher or at least slasher-adjacent, there is no final girl! If there aren’t a series of other ppl getting killed throughout the film then the survivor at the end isn’t a final girl!

#I loved Hunter Schafer in cuckoo too but she’s absolutely not a final girl!#the movie fulfills like 0 requirements for final girlism #and honestly we’re losing sight of what carol clover was even talking about when she coined the phrase #because it’s supposed to critique a specific sexist pattern in horror #but now everybody acts like it’s empowering ok whatever #I think final girls can be empowering but it has to be intentionally done by the filmmaker #text post
