Dalamushroom tea
Dalamus' favorite tea is one which Nilaufein often made for him, and when he was old enough, taught him how to make for himself. The flavor is savory and bitter with a slight kick of dark spice. Making it with powdered ingredients strengthens the flavor and the effects.
To those unused to it, it tastes a bit like medicine and has the benefits to match, but to Dalamus it tastes like home.
Ingredients:
5 cups of water
1 Tablespoon dried/powdered Dragon Egg mushrooms
1/2 Tablespoon dried/powdered Rogue's Morsel mushrooms
1/4 Tablespoon dried/powdered Funguswood mushrooms
(Optional) Honey, to taste
Grind dried ingredients together into a powder.
Add powdered ingredients to pot.
Pour water into pot.
Bring mixture to a boil, then allow it to simmer.
Let simmer for 1 hour. The longer it simmers, the more bitter it will become.
Take off heat, pour, and enjoy.
Dragon's Egg gives the tea a smoothness and allows hot tea to be enjoyed without risk of burns. Has a subtle spicy-sweet tone like cloves.
Rogue's Morsel makes the tea invigorating, having anti-inflammatory properties and offering a small boost to energy. It adds a bitter, earthy flavor which can overpower if not careful, like chaga mushrooms.
Funguswood also has an anti-inflammatory effect, and aids in digestion to make the tea easier to stomach. Adds a kick of mild spice and a small amount of sweetness, like ginger.
Honey, if added, is an immune system booster and lessens the symptoms of sore throat or coughing. Adds a sweetness to help offset bitterness caused by other ingredients.
