i looked up what the missing 5% i need for a 112% game completion and as it turns out, i DO have to complete the final trial of fools. that was one (1) whole percent. I really hope the trial of fools area isn’t having severe frame rate issues anymore or i will have no chance at 112% on this computer. Also i have to go and complete all of the pantheons at god home (patheons of master....sage...knight...something else idk) except for pantheon of hallownest ofc, which was something i wanted to do anyways. so as of now, im not gonna get the sealed siblings ending, because im gonna try and get a 112% playthrough on sealed siblings ending.
it took me 198 hours to complete the game on true ending, even considering the radiance’s difficulty, it was an obscene amount of time.  it’s hilarious cause i have done 105%? 100-105%? of the game within the first 100 hours or so. it isn’t a feat by any means since it would have taken most people less time. Even counting the time where i just sort of stood around and did nothing it shouldn’t have taken that long if i didn’t suck at every other boss fights and got lost and died so many times at the beginning. but it also means that the rest of 98 hours was just me trying to beat nightmare king grimm and the radiance. which means it took me  roughly the same amount of time i needed to beat the rest of the game to beat two (2) bosses. they are very literally the two toughest bosses in the game, but still, this will never stop being hilarious to me. not to mention, this is not counting the fact that immediately after i finished NKG aka most of the game except the two final bosses (yes, that included the white palace parkour section), i left the game behind at the beginning of last year for no good reason (the game starts to lag super badly on start-up but i always had lagging issues, just not this severe on start-up) until i couldn’t handle it anymore and initiated the final boss fights right away at the beginning of july this year. i have took my time with this game, never taking it this slow with any other games before.
and after all these time spent on the game.......i want to spend even MORE time at this game. in fact i want to get all the achievements for hollow knight and i know that at least three of these achievements have to do with speed running the game in extremely short amount of time (one is 20 hours and one is 10 hours and one is 5 hours?). i never wanted to do this type of shit for any other games before, not even the last of us. right now im like why play any other game when i could play hollow knight again

And When I am Formulated, Sprawling on a Pin - Chapter Twenty-Four: And the Rest is Silence
And this is it: the final chapter! It’s been insane, but this is the only fanfiction I've ever finished before, and it wouldn’t have happened without all the support. Thank you so much!! I didn’t think anyone would read this, but seeing everyone’s reactions to each chapter has kept me going :D
I’m sorry for the essay, but I’m aware I didn’t post anything about this in the AIB tag. Yes, there will be a sequel!
I need to read the manga properly before writing it, so I don’t know when the sequel will start. But in the meantime, there’ll be a series of Chishiya one-shots of his perspective, and there’ll even be scenes that weren’t in this fic, plus an original game!
For the full fanfic, you can find it here on AO3.
I’ll also be creating a master list, and I'll post the literature references after this for those who wanted them <3
Once again, thank you so much!! And I hope you enjoy this last chapter.
------------------------------------------------
By the time Kuina found us again, it was already late afternoon, and even though our visas had extended by ten days after the Witch Hunt game, there was something about the setting of the sun that felt foreboding.
We lit up the furniture shop with candles and changed into the clean clothes we’d collected. Seeing Chishiya wearing ordinary clothes felt strange. Aside from when we’d crossed paths in the Tag game, the entire time I’d known him he’d been wearing swim shorts and flip flops.
Now, he emerged from the bathroom wearing grey sweatpants and a variegated blue cardigan that suited him perfectly. When his eyes flickered to mine, I realised I’d been staring, and distracted myself with preparing dinner instead. It wasn’t much, especially since all I had was canned goods and a camping stove, but the vegetable stew kept us warm while we curled up in our makeshift living room. As evening turned to night, however, it became obvious that something was missing.
There are no games.
Kuina chewed on her lip, looking out of the window. ‘What d’you think will happen when our visas run out?’
‘It probably has something to do with the Ten of Hearts,’ I told her. ‘Maybe there’s no need for games anymore, since we’ve got all the numbered cards.’
It didn’t bode well for us. If there were no games by the time our visas ran out, there was no chance of us getting out of the Borderlands. At least not alive.
As the night wore on, Kuina was the first to go upstairs. Covering her yawn with her hand, she waved goodnight and winked at me. I tried not to blush. Not that it made a difference, anyway. Chishiya was busying himself over a scrap of paper, and barely reacted when I smushed up by his side.
I frowned at the paper in his hand. ‘Isn’t that...’
‘Ah.’ He held it out so I could see it. ‘I took it from the tagger’s pocket.’ It was a drawing of a circle with squiggly lines, clearly a rushed sketch of something. In the middle of a line, the pen had stabbed a hole straight through.
‘What is it?’
‘Well, I have an idea,’ he said, but never elaborated.
Fighting the onset of sleep, I leaned my head against his shoulder, paying no mind to the way he tensed beneath me. The fabric of his cardigan was soft as down and made for a perfect pillow. ‘Aren’t you going to tell me?’
‘And if I don’t want to?’
I pushed my face into the fabric, pretending to settle in for the night. ‘Then I’ll just stay here and annoy you until your visa runs out.’
‘I have a feeling that won’t happen any time soon,’ he said, looking out the window.
And that was when I noticed it too. Midnight had passed by only a few minutes ago, yet there were no lasers. Did that mean the Borderlands were at a standstill? Were we stuck here permanently now? I wasn’t aware of how silent I had become, lost in my own thoughts, until Chishiya spoke up.
‘I believe it’s a map.’
My eyes slid to the drawing again. ‘And that hole in the paper, do you think that’s where the others are? The dealers, I mean.’
He shifted uncomfortably and I sat upright, conscious that I might have been unintentionally hurting or bothering him. Looking at the map properly, the lines could represent different interlocking pathways. If the marked place was a hideout of some kind, it couldn’t be in the open streets; there was too big a risk that a player might stumble upon it by accident.
So where...?
As soon as the idea came to mind, the words slipped out of my mouth. ‘The subway....’
He hummed in agreement. ‘I went to the nearest subway station this morning to check it against the real map. It’s a loose fit, but it works.’
I thought back to the second tagger – the crying woman – and how she’d been forced to participate in the game, donning an explosive collar. ‘Maybe if we find the place, we’ll get some answers.’
‘Probably,’ he said. ‘But I’m curious to see if anything changes within the next few days.’
‘Do you think we’ll hear something soon?’ I asked, yawning into my hand.
‘I believe we will.’ He gave me that same half-smile I had grown so used to. ‘But right now, I think you should go to sleep.’
Chishiya didn’t complain when I crawled into his bed. Like the night before, he kept his distance, but I could’ve sworn at times, when my sleeping became lighter throughout the night, I could feel fingers lightly touching my hair, only to pull back the moment I stirred. Over the next few days, it became the norm, and every night I would curl up on my side of the bed, slipping into calm dreams under the blue light of the window.
---------------------------------------------------
Despite the sunshine washing over the grey of the city, the stairs leading into Minami-Aoyama station descended into darkness. We’d checked and double-checked the drawing against the official subway map several times, but the idea of entering an abandoned station to uncover who knows what wasn’t inviting.
‘Are you sure this is it?’ Kuina asked for the third time.
I looked at the route map hanging over the station entrance, my eyes tracing the shape of the lines. ‘Positive.’
Folding her arms, Kuina went first. I waited for Chishiya to take a small torch from his pocket before following behind. The station was truly submerged in blackness, and if not for Chishiya’s torch, we would have easily become lost. He shone the beam at the paper in his hand, then held it up against each train line.
‘This way,’ he said, and walked towards the edge of the platform.
We hopped down onto the gravel below, using the metal tracks to guide us further into the tunnels. It was disconcerting to see the subway so empty, but with Kuina and Chishiya here, I felt safe somehow.
Several minutes in, Chishiya stopped abruptly, and I almost walked into him. If he reacted at all, I couldn’t see to tell. But he seemed more focused on something else, as he pointed the torch at a door that had been busted open.
‘That must be it.’ Kuina’s voice echoed.
Without hesitation, Chishiya disappeared through the door, leaving Kuina and I in the darkness.
Chishiya?!
I panicked, arms waving as I tried to find something to hold onto. I heard Kuina hiss as we stumbled into each other and bumped elbows. Feeling around for the door frame, we managed to make our way inside, where Chishiya held his torch at us from further away.
‘Hey!’ Kuina snapped. ‘Don’t do that again! You’re the only one with a light here.’
‘Walk faster then,’ he said, waiting impatiently as we jogged over.
He shone the beam in the opposite direction, where it bounced off something. It was still too dark to tell just what, but as we walked forwards, everything became clearer. A structure lay ahead, with tunnels and walkways all leading into a giant room. Overhead, wires were strung across the ceiling, all feeding into the same place. We entered through one of the tunnels, and my heart jumped.
Televisions. They stared, black and empty, in rows and columns up the walls. But what was even more surprising was the setup right in front of us. It was an office, with papers, pen pots and coffee-stained mugs strewn about on desks. It would have looked like any other workplace, if not for the bodies draped in chairs and across the floor.
‘What... is this?’ I crouched to inspect the body of a man in a suit. Judging from its state, he had only died recently, but more importantly, there was a singed hole running through his head. He had been killed by a laser. ‘They’re not the ones in charge of the games.’
Chishiya closely inspected a desk. ‘Evidently not,’ he said, picking up a folded piece of paper and passing it to me. It was filled with numbers, some ticked off. Whoever it had belonged to was keeping track of their visa.
They’re playing games too, I thought. Or at least, they were.
‘So, these guys were the dealers.’ Kuina gingerly held up a sheet of paper with scribbles all over it. Upon closer inspection, they appeared to be odds. ‘They were betting on us,’ she said.
A shiver ran along my skin. Of course, they had been watching us this whole time, that was expected. But to place bets on our survival was a whole other story. If the dealers were playing too, there must’ve been a separate system for them to extend their days. Perhaps how many people survived each game had some kind of impact on their visas.
A finger lightly brushed the back of my arm and Chishiya appeared beside me. ‘Momoka’s friend,’ I said, ‘she died right after she told everyone she was a dealer. And the taggers died because we won. I have a feeling their visas depended on whether or not we cleared each game... or maybe how many people didn’t make it.’
From his expression, I knew he had been thinking the same thing. ‘It doesn’t explain why they’re all dead now.’
I glanced around at the stiffened bodies slumped around us. ‘Actually, I have a bad feeling about that too.’
At that moment, a tap of footsteps echoed from the entrance. Chishiya instantly turned off his torch and tugged me into one of the tunnels. Kuina joined us and we hid, waiting. The footsteps grew louder, closer, and two torchlights waved through the darkness. I kept my eyes trained on the tunnel opposite as the footsteps paused.
‘Where is this place?’
‘Who knows?’
With a sigh, I relaxed instantly.
Those two.
It had only been a few days since I had made peace with Arisu and Usagi, but I was glad to see them again. Arisu was cleaned up, his wounds well on the way to healing, while Usagi stared in amazement at the television screens around us.
Chishiya grazed past me as he moved out from under the shadows. ‘You actually found this place,’ he said. ‘As expected from someone I have high hopes for.’
‘We meet again,’ Kuina said, walking around the desks to lean against the wall.
Arisu and Usagi’s eyes scanned the two of them before stopping at me. They looked visibly confused, probably wondering what I was doing with them after I’d told them I wasn’t involved in Chishiya’s setup. In an attempt at diffusing the awkwardness, I smiled and waved.
‘You guys,’ Usagi whispered. Her voice bordered on distrust, not that anyone could blame her.
I couldn’t tell whether Chishiya was trying to make things better or worse when he held up the full deck of cards and smiled. ‘Thanks to you guys, I have all the playing cards with me,’ he said. ‘Thank you.’
Arisu only looked at him cynically. ‘How did you discover this place?’
Chishiya rooted in his pocket and pulled out the drawing. ‘It took me some time to realise this is actually a map. The route map of the subway.’ He sauntered around the desks. ‘As for what happens when we collect the cards... I thought I would know the answer if I came here.’ His eyes jumped to mine. ‘But there’s something else we discovered instead.’
‘They’re not the gamemasters,’ Arisu said, eyes fixed on the bodies around us.
I stepped over a hand strewn across the floor. ‘カードを集めたので、殺された.’ Because we collected the cards, they were all killed. I struggled for a moment, trying to think of the right words. ‘There must be someone above them.’
Chishiya translated, and Usagi turned to me with worry. ‘But who?’
‘Who knows?’ Chishiya shrugged. ‘They might be aliens... or even God.’
The idea didn’t sound as strange as it should have done. We were in a world where lasers appeared from the sky, and death games were the norm. Even when I first arrived here, I’d wondered whether this was a form of judgement. Nothing was out of the question anymore.
Suddenly, the screens burst into life and white light flooded the room. I jumped, flocking to Chishiya and Kuina’s side.
Have we been caught?
Music reverberated all around us, and the screens displayed all four card suits, along with a message I couldn’t read. It didn’t matter though, as the voice that rang through the speakers was one I remembered well. My stomach dropped.
‘Congratulations to all players!’
The screens blurred until Mira’s wild eyes and subdued smile came into focus. It was now obvious why the Ten of Hearts had taken place at the Beach at the very moment things had fallen apart.
She must’ve been feeding information back, I thought. But back to where?
‘How interesting,’ Chishiya said. Seeking stability, I slipped a hand into his pocket. There was a slight hesitation before his fingers laced around mine.
Mira’s voice shook with a quiet excitement. ‘With the exception of the face cards, you’ve all cleared the numbered games and emerged as victors. It’s a sweet victory, gained by sacrificing so many lives.’ Her expression turned wistful as she stood. ‘I wonder, how many of your comrades have died. Try remembering those who were shot dead with guns.’
A single screen switched to show footage from a miscellaneous game. A group were stood, clutching their guns as they inspected the scatter of bodies across the ground.
They’ve been recording us.
‘And that girl you burned alive.’
A second display opened up, revealing several players watching on as a girl, engulfed in flames, struggled and clawed at her skin and clothes. I held my breath, Niragi’s animalistic cries ringing through my memory.
‘Those struck by lasers, and those that drowned.’
My eyes widened, and I gripped Chishiya’s hand as the inside of the furniture store appeared on-screen. The fractured image of myself flinched, quivering with shock, as the first man and Green Shirt leapt from their seats, only to crumple to the ground, lasers piercing them where they stood.
Chishiya’s fingers squeezed mine, and I gasped, blinking away the image. He must’ve seen it too.
‘Those who’s heads were blown off,’ Mira continued, dreamily. ‘Those comrades of yours, the despair you’ve felt so far, and those dying moments you’ll never forget.’
The screen changed once more, and from the corner of my eye, Arisu winced. Following his gaze, I recognized his partner from the Tag game, his neck exploding around a collar.
I’m so sorry....
Meanwhile, Mira’s expression shifted into pure, childlike delight. ‘Everyone... I’m so touched!’ She held her hand over her heart. ‘All of you players, we’d like to give you a present.’
We?
Chishiya tensed slightly. He had noticed it too. If Mira wasn’t the only gamemaster, just who were the others?
Although Mira couldn’t hear us, Kuina mumbled, ‘Are you returning us to the real world?’
It seemed too good to be true, and sure enough, it was. Mira clapped her hands together excitedly. ‘There will be new games! Let’s play more games together and fight for the face cards this time!’
Aside from Chishiya, everyone sank with disappointment and fear. Just how much more would we have to deal with before we could go home? If we were competing for the face cards, did that mean there were only twelve more games in total, or would there be repeat cards like there were for the numbered ones?
Kuina groaned. ‘New games? You’re kidding.’
‘I don’t dislike the idea,’ Chishiya murmured.
I looked at him, curious. ‘What do you mean?’
His expression was guarded, but before he could reply, Mira’s voice cut in again. ‘The next stage will commence tomorrow at noon. Everyone, let’s have fun together!’
All at once, the screens shut down, leaving us all in the darkness once more. Everything was quiet as we came to terms with what had just happened. It was Arisu who first suggested that we get out of here. Him and Usagi disappeared back through the tunnel, and with one glance at Chishiya and I, Kuina followed.
My fingers were still interlaced with his, hidden within the warmth of his pocket. He was watching me, waiting.
‘These games,’ I said. ‘They’re going to be harder than the others.’
He was silent for a moment. ‘Probably.’
‘About what you said before...’ I began. ‘Do you remember that time on the rooftop of the Beach, when I asked you if you were okay, and you told me it shouldn’t matter to me.’
I could see him thinking back. ‘I remember.’
‘What I said then still stands. You might not care about your own life, and I can’t stop you from taking part in these new games.’ I bit my lip, unable to face him as my eyes began tearing up. ‘Perhaps this is selfish of me, but you need to survive. And if you can’t do it for yourself, then....’
He sighed. ‘You cry too much.’ When I looked up, his lips were curled into that same, familiar smile, only this time, there was nothing cruel or condescending there. ‘We should find the others.’
Wiping my eyes with the edge of my sleeve, I finally let go of his hand, following him back out and through the tunnels. As we climbed the steps of the station, emerging into daylight, a series of loud bangs resounded throughout the city. The others were peering up at the skyscrapers towering over us, and the fireworks that burst like flowers against the sunlight.
‘Let’s make a new deal,’ Chishiya said, idly watching the display. ‘I’ll survive, if you return the favour.’
I looked to him, admiring the way his hair shifted in the breeze, and how the reflection of the fireworks danced in his dark eyes.
Let’s go home together.
‘It’s a deal.’

A/B/O au where Lance takes a hit to protect Pidge or somebody and he is hurt really bad. They get him into a pod but the hit ripped through his womb and he is now unable to have kids. As an omega from a large family he has always wanted kids of his own but now that’s not possible for him... cue over protection be alphas on the team panicking and trying to care of their now devastated omega
I absolutely love A/B/O aus and I have a bunch of prompts for them in my inbox and I’m so excited to write all of them! Hopefully, I’ll be able to stay motivated and write more soon! I hope everyone enjoys this! ❤️
Before this mission, Lance couldn’t tell you the worst day of his life. He had a relatively great life; a huge loving family who would do anything for him, a scholarship to one of the greatest military schools in the world, a clearly planned future, and even when life took a sharp turn he ended up with a team that he came to see as family. All things considered, he was lucky. He didn’t have people around him that treated him differently because he was an omega and he was looked up to and respected by beings all over the galaxy. Like he said before, he couldn’t tell you the worst day of his life.
But this; this broke him.
As usual, they were out attempting to free a planet from Zarkon’s grasp. This time, however, the Galra seemed to stick to the idea that if they couldn’t have it, nobody could and had placed a bomb in case they were defeated. Luckily, most of the forces stuck to the sky ready at any moment to retreat and detonate instead.
Pidge was sent down to the surface to deactivate the bomb along with Lance to be her lookout. As the minutes ticked by, the only sounds being the fight from above she was quickly making progress. As she typed in the last command with a flourish of her fingers was the exact moment they heard a crack from beside them.
Lance’s shot out to the side and let loose a shot that connected directly to a sentry’s head, but not before it also fired, striking Lance in his side. With barely a breath he collapsed into a fetal position clutching his hand to his wound.
“LANCE!” Pidge screamed rushing over to him, her hand pressed down on his adding to the pressure and the other went to her helmet to contact the team.
“Lance is down! We need a pod now!” She demanded there was barely a word of affirmative before she was dropping her other hand to the wound as well.
“Don’t worry Lance, help is on the way,” she said making sure that he was looking at her. He nodded silently, gritting his teeth in pain. He couldn’t see the wound but he could feel the blood slipping through his fingers. Darkness steadily clouded around the edges of his vision and his eyes started slipping shut.
“Lance stay awake!” Pidge yelled when Lance’s head thumped to the ground. Even with both of her hands pressing down on Lance’s and the wound, she could feel it slipping as his arm went limp.
“SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET US NOW!” She screamed into the coms, her eyes were filling up with frustrated tears. She couldn’t think, her mind went blank as soon as Lance was hit.
With a loud crash, Red landed and Keith was sprinting towards them, Shiro following after him. There was barely any talking between them as they rushed Lance back to the Castle, hoping that even this close to death he would be strong.
“How is he doing?” Shiro asked as he entered the med bay, his hands full of water packs and containers of food goo. He started around the room, handing the water and food to the paladins that had refused to leave until Lance was safely out.
“Still asleep,” Keith sighed watching the pod.
“Oh wow, didn’t notice,” he deadpanned tossing a water pack at his head.
“You asked,” Keith grumbled.
“I meant the time, he did pop out unexpectedly the first time,” he clarified turning instead to look at Coran and Allura instead, prompting Coran to pull up the pod specifics.
“It shouldn’t be too long now, he looks to be in good shape except for, oh…” he trailed off squinting at the readings.
“What is it, Coran?” Hunk asked walking closer to him. At the question, he quickly closed the screen.
“Something that I will need to talk to Lance about,” he said not looking at them. They glanced at each other nervously.
“Well, what is it?” Allura asked curiously.
“Something that is none of your business unless Lance wishes to tell you about it,” he said simply. “I apologize Princess but I will not disclose any information about a patient without their consent,”
“No apology needed Coran, I understand,” she said stepping away to instead join the paladins. Although they were happy to hear that Lance would be out soon, the knowledge that there was something wrong with Lance’s body gave them a new sense of nervousness.
A few minutes later they saw the screen of the pod light up and disappear as Lance stumbled out. They ran over to him before remembering what Coran said and gently wrapping their arms around him. His sluggishly blinked open his eyes and looked around at the smiling faces surrounding him.
“Hey guys,” he rasped with a grin.
“How do you feel?” Shiro asked worry creasing his brow.
“A little sore? Fine I guess,” he answered tilting his head in thought.
“I grabbed some clothes for you,” Hunk said holding out Lance’s shirt and a pair of loose pants.
“Oh, thanks, buddy,” he said beaming up at Hunk. He grabbed them from his hands before Coran stepped forward.
“Lance, I need to tell you about something that I picked up from the scan,” he informed him.
“Okay, sure, can I change first?” He asked gesturing over all the curtain they had put up in the room especially for that.
“Of course, I’ll be right here, the rest of you,” he made a shooing gesture at the rest of the group making them laugh and start towards the door.
“We’ll be in the lounge when you’re done Lance,” Shiro called over his shoulder.
“Got it!” Lance called back from behind the curtain. After a minute he came back out, hiking the pants and sitting on the examination bed closest to Coran.
“So what’s up Coran?” Lance asked with a smile, turning to face the man. Unlike usual, his face was sober as he started bringing up Lance’s readings from the pod. As he watched him, his anxiety started soaring. Why was Coran acting like this? He knew that he had worried them all but he didn’t think that Coran would drop his cheery facade just for that.
“Is it that bad?” He asked, looking at him with concern. Coran bit out a sharp chuckle.
“It depends, I’m not sure about your thoughts on the topic, but it is quite important to some people,” he explained finally gathering all of the files and sitting down in the chair beside the bed.
“Okay…” Lance trailed off nervously. Coran flicked up an image of a diagram, marked red around the place he was hit. It was covering most of his abdomen, mostly on the right side and he winced slightly at the memory of being hit.
“This area right here was where the laser hit you,” he said circling his finger around the red area. Lance nodded along, watching him intently. He flicked to the next diagram, this time the red spot was significantly smaller and centred on a point below his belly button.
“This area right here was extensively damaged,” he said gesturing to the spot in the same way. “The damage was so great that the pod was unable to repair all of it, it healed it enough that there will be no damage to your body but the organ won’t function properly,” Lance’s head whipped over to face him with wide eyes and then back to the diagram. As realization started to sink in, his eyes grew wider and wider and he clutched to his stomach.
“Does this mea- a-are you telling me, that I-I-I,” he stuttered helplessly looking up at Coran. He looked back at him with a sorrowful face.
“I’m so sorry Lance,” he said quietly. All the blood in Lance’s face drained away. and he slammed his head into his hands as he burst into tears.
Memories of his family shot through his mind, every dinner, every reunion, every hug he gave his parents and siblings. His mind turned to his dreams of the future; the happiness he would feel when he finally found the one, the excitement when he found out that he was having his first child, and the nervousness of finally taking them home. He wanted to be a parent, he wanted to raise kids and teach them everything he knew. He had so many plans, so many things that he wanted to give to them.
And they were all gone.
With one hit.
The bed dipped beside him and Coran’s arm wrapped around him comfortably. A loud wail came from his throat and he pushed his face into Coran’s shoulder.
“Why? Why? Why?” He kept chanting brokenly between heaving sobs. Coran’s hand rubbed up and down Lance’s back as tears fell down his face. He could only shake his head silently and hold Lance closer as he broke down.
With every choked sob and tear that fell, the pain only grew. The shock of the revelation quickly faded away to stab at his heart and stomach. He just wanted to wake up and for all of this to be a horrible nightmare.
“WHAT DID I DO?! WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS!?” He screamed, his head ripping away from Coran’s shoulder to scream at the ceiling.
“I’VE GIVEN EVERYTHING I HAVE!” Loud gasps tore through him, his hands were shaking where they were gripping onto Coran.
“I’ve given everything,” he whispered.
“I know Lance, you did nothing wrong,” Coran soothed running his fingers through Lance’s hair.
“Coran?”
“Yes, my boy?”
“Could you go get everybody?” He asked, his cheek pressing into Coran’s shoulder.
“Of course I can,” he agreed. “I’ll be right back,”
“Thanks,” Lance said quietly, laying back on the bed.
“Oh hey, Coran, what’s, whoa,” Shiro greeted as the lounge door slid open and the scent on Coran wafted in. All of them jumped up, smelling the scent of distress on the man. They knew it wasn’t him because Alteans didn’t have classifications like Earth.
“Is Lance okay?” Hunk asked with concern.
“He’s asking for you,” Coran replied turning out of the door again, knowing that they would be right behind him. As they got closer and closer to the med bay the scent of distress became thicker until they were all tearing up unintentionally. Whatever happened to Lance was breaking him. The door was barely open before they were forcing themselves in to get to their friend.
“Are you okay Lance?” Hunk cried racing to his side and grasping his hand. At the sight of his friend, Lance burst out into tears again and he clutched to Hunk like a lifeline. The other three crammed into the spaces beside them and tried to comfort him even though they still didn’t know what the problem was.
“What happened?” Shiro asked cautiously.
“Coran, please tell them, I don’t think I can,” Lance hiccuped burying his head in Hunk’s shirt. They turned to Coran expectantly, tears rolling down their cheeks and chins wobbling. Even in the devastating time they were in, he couldn’t help but be amazed by the power of an omega’s pheromone.
“The laser did lasting damage to Lance’s uterus and he will be unable to have children,” he explained quietly. Everyone let out loud gasps and their heads turned back to Lance. This time the tears were the product of their own heartbreak and they clung to the devastated omega. Apologizes spilt from their lips even though they knew that nothing would be able to make him feel better at that moment.
They could only be a support to lean on until he would be able to move on. They knew how much Lance dreamed of going back to Earth to raise a family though. He constantly told them how excited he was to become a father and spend time with his kids and slowly the excitement of becoming aunts and uncles to them transferred to them.
“It’s okay, everything is going to be okay,” Shiro comforted rubbing his hand up and down Lance’s arm.
In time everything was going to be okay. He had his family. He had his friends. In time he realized that you don’t need to carry a child for nine months to be a parent. You don’t need to share blood to be a parent. You just need to find someone who needs a home and someone to love them.
It only took finding an abandoned Galra child for him to realize that.
He named her Rosie after his mother.
Even though she didn’t come from him, it didn’t stop him from loving her any less. Or teaching her how to walk, or speak, or dance like no one was watching. It didn’t stop him from getting angry at her for disobeying or annoyed when she went through a rebellious stage.
It didn’t stop him from crying proudly when Blue accepted her as the next paladin of Voltron.
Rosie was his little girl, his daughter, even though her life didn’t begin with him.
He may have been broken at one time but in time, he would be whole again.

Crystals In The Night
who?: Wanna One’s Lai Guanlin genre: 🌸 type: bullet point, part of Christmas collab wink wonk blog navigator. • last instalment of mine for the collaboration with @onlyjihoons and @hwinkinghwi • you and Guanlin plan to meet at Orchard,,,but as usual, things never really go to plan oh shit, this collaboration has drawn to an end sooner than I expected, oh dear I’ll miss it terribly. It was an amazing experience working with such talent, skilled and competent authors, they are definitely seniors in this field. Thank you to my bebs for putting up with me and never hesitating to help me when I got stuck. Sorry for how messy all my works have been, and how inconsistent my schedule is :( Looking forward to collaborating with you guys again!!!💓 If anyone would like to work with us, please reach our dms! - Admin L
• Orchard Road - the busiest road at this time of the year • I’m doing a lot of explaining in this collaboration but basically, Orchard Road is equivalent to Hollywood Boulevard or downtown • something like that • history: the whole stretch used to be a fruit plantation but that was gone ages ago so now in replacement, a concrete shopping stretch • the most popular outlet for avid shoppers and tourists alike • in summary, Orchard Road is where you go if you want to shop • now • a couple of days ago, your internet best friend - whom you had met in real life a few times - called you to say that he would be in Singapore for work around Christmas time • his name is Lai Guanlin by the way • you had screamed in excitement and immediately, the two of you planned to meet up along the Orchard Road stretch to admire the blinking Christmas decorations • on Christmas Eve • tbh Guanlin was a shady person • he never once mentioned the kind of work he did • you had put your trust in him but still... • he never seemed to be on social media anymore IG, Twitter, private Snap • Guanlin had talked about ‘photoshoots’ and ‘studio time’ so you just assumed he was a model • you wouldn’t bat an eye if he was • how did you get so lucky? your internet friend had turned out to be a the handsomest man you had ever talked to • and probably the sweetest too • the first time you guys had seen each other face to face was in Taipei, Taiwan when you were on a family holiday • disclaimer: I’m not exactly sure which part of Taiwan Guanlin is from but let’s just say he was in Taipei for work ;) • you were stumbling around like a lost sheep on the streets of Ximending - another shopping hotspot - frantically calling Guanlin’s phone • and he was not answering • the bright city lights, the flashing signboards and the bustling busyness of the crowd threw you into worry • a dozen thoughts raced in your mind • ‘was he a real person?’ • ‘what if it was all a scam?’ • ‘do I even know who he truly is?’ • your parents would have thrown a fit but thankfully, your uncle had occupied their time by ushering them into a nearby eatery • and your cousin had accompanied you to search for the Houdini of an internet friend you had • ‘come on y/n, you can’t give up like this! you’ve known him for...2 years? it’ll be worth it!’ she encouraged, elbowing you in the ribs • you shoved through the crowd, still calling his mobile • ‘the number you have dialled is currently unavailable. Please-‘ • an upset groan slipped past your lips yet you refused to give up • suddenly, you heard a familiar voice yelling in the distance • a voice you had heard a thousand times • on Snapchat • wishing you goodnight • telling you about his day when you face timed • Lai Guanlin • your feet thudded in the direction of his voice, ears craning to hear more • you had to find him • and he found you • Guanlin had a slender, fine-boned figure, one any catwalk model would be jealous of. His skin was honey tan, kissed by the warm golden rays of sun. • dark glossy locks framed his sculpted face, his full brows furrowed and his pink lips pursed • he seemed to be speaking furiously to an older teenage girl, a scowl marring his handsome features • but it was Guanlin for sure • and if your guess was right, that teenager would be his older sister • still hidden as a mere face in the crowd, your shaking hands had dialled his number again • his phone was buzzing in the pocket of his jeans • sighing, he turned to his sister. ‘I’m sorry but they’re calling, it’s been four times, I have to answer.’ • ‘hi y/n! ugh sorry I didn’t pick up. where are you right now?’ Guanlin’s hopeful eyes began scanning the crowd but not in your direction. • when all he received back was your heavy breaths, he panicked, fearing you had lost your way • lol I’m just behind you turn around • ‘l-look...behind you’ • puzzlement crosses his face but he obeys nonetheless and that confusion is replaced by pure shock and happiness • y’all do have that warm, massive hug like any internet best friend would have • how cute • just reminiscing about it makes you all soft and warm • to the outside world, you must look like a complete lunatic staring into space, slender fingers curled around the straw of your frothy Starbucks drink and stirring it slowly • strange • ‘oi that person a bit suspicious hor, kuai da dian hua gei mata.’ [quick, call the police] • but you pay those inquisitive eyes no mind and continue breathing your own air • just thinking about your friend makes your heart start to flutter madly again • 💓💓💓 • ooooh ;) • the only thing that stabbed your heart was that you were sitting in Starbucks for a long time now • and it was a Starbucks further away from Orchard Road because you didn’t want to have a first look at the lights without him • so sweet :”) • my friends would be like ‘lol we’re looking at them already you were late’ • hi i’m always late • Guanlin said he could get off at about 7.30pm so you said ‘let’s meet at 8pm’ • the illuminated screen of your phone revealed that it was 8.15pm • *sips tea* • you swiped to check your texts • you: hi lin, i’m here • you: where are you? • you: call me when you reach okay! • the LED screen shut off before there ever was a reply from him • but like the understanding best friend you are, you brushed it off, constantly reminding yourself that he was probably busy at work and would be fired if he checked his handphone for even a second • you stirred the drink on your table again • hmm, it still wasn’t melting • 8.20pm • your lips curved around the top of the straw, taking a sip, eyes darting to locate Guanlin • how interesting would it be to meet a stranger’s eyes as they glared out of Starbucks’ glass window, sitting ramrod straight in the plush booth, shoulders stiff and shoes tapping the ground anxiously • it appeared as if lasers from your eyes could cut holes through the glass • 8.35pm • don’t get mad don’t be mad don’t worry stay calm breathe stay collected • no new messages • hah Guanlin what the hell • you focused on your pleasant surroundings instead of the thing making you lose your temper • it was an appropriately busy time at Starbucks • meaning, the baristas and staff were able to put up with the workload and there wasn’t some kind of ridiculous snaking queue of 30 people • hi i’ve been in one. it was when Starbucks here was offering one for one and the queue went outside the shop and it was all students • me too sis me too • you watched the baristas as they effortlessly mixed delicious drinks • delightful aromas wafted through the air • the smell of ground coffee beans, the fluffiness of fresh whipped cream, all the different types of candied spice made your mouth water • even as the night progressed, the cashiers still took customers order with joy, beaming and wishing them ‘merry Christmas’ • muffins and other sweet and savoury treats were being swiped off the shelf before your eyes • speaking of eyes, your own were tired, a little droopy and glossed over • but you knew that as soon as you saw Guanlin, they would light up like a candle in the night, bright with alertness and burning with energy • he really had that effect on you, goodness • was it love? • CHRISTMAS LOVERS • but you couldn’t give it much thought as the calming ‘tick-tocks’ of the wall clock went by and the delectable smells of the kitchen lulled you into a deep sleep • head buried in your arms on the table, hoodie keeping your lap warm • your dream comprised of you, Lai Guanlin and a mistletoe hanging over both your heads • it made you smile • no new messages 9.45pm • one unread message 10pm • hi I found out that Starbucks at The Cathay is open 24/7 while researching for this fic • finally, your eyelids began to flutter open, brain trying to process all that had happened in a span of two hours • after all, you did have a pretty wonderful dream so all was good • oh • Guanlin • his disappearance and not answering your calls • your face fell immediately, heart sinking to the bottom of the ocean - the worst part was that it had floated to the top of ‘lake happiness’ with your dream • it was only a while after that you realised a man sitting in front of you • well you hoped so • right up to his nose was covered by a cotton black mask that hugged his jaw and he had pulled a red bucket hat over to hide his coloured hair • but it wasn’t Guanlin - his eyes were a different shade of hazel • but this guy was equally cute • ‘oh! hi,’ you greeted awkwardly, face beginning to heat up as you probably looked like a mess • it seemed like he smiled, then realised you couldn’t see through the mask, eyes widened before he pulled it off and grinned again • snaggletooth • ‘hi! I’m Woojin, Guanlin’s friend. He told me to sit with you until he came back.’ • you nod, smiling • wait • golden bronze skin, snaggletooth, large brown eyes..... • coloured hair, trying to hide his identity • you lowered your voice by a notch, creeping closer • ‘a-aren’t you...Park Woojin?’ • pause • explanation: you know bits and pieces of the k-pop world but because you’re kind of slow and oblivious you can’t catch up fast enough, thus, you know nothing about Wanna One other than what your friend’s tell you at school • honestly, I only know two people in my school who stan Wanna One so • you only know Woojin because your best friend has a huge sticker of him on her file • Woojin raises his eyebrows, pleasantly surprised and nods • ‘wow Guanlin never told me you were a fan, hanging out with him must be a dream come true.’ • wait wha- • ‘he most likely won’t ever tell you so I will. Please don’t get mad at him for being late, he had a huge argument with our manager today because even after our shoot was over, he wasn’t letting us go for the free time that was scheduled. So they fought and now he’s probably in deep shit but whatever, at least he has you.’ • manager? shoot? • your throat tightened, chest constricted • oh my god • GUANLIN IS AN IDOL • A REALLY POPULAR ONE AT THAT • ‘he’s outside talking to our manager now. I should go get him.’ • so now you’re kind-of-friends with another idol what is happening • all I wanted was my baby boy Linlin • but hey, you aren’t complaining • hehehe time to text my other best friend >:) • the soft rattle of the bells by the door is picked up by your sensitive ears, it feels as if time stops and all you can zoom in on is Guanlin • before he knows it, you launch out of your seat and right into his arms • thank God he’s tall and strong • he’s a paper fairy irl I’m sure of it • your hands grip his thin shirt tightly, eyes squeezed shut in happiness as your chin rests on his shoulder • ‘you’re here, it’s really you,’ you whisper so it’s only audible to the two of you • and maybe third-wheel Woojin • Guanlin went all out to protect his identity. mask, glasses and a baseball cap • he smiles through his mask, you can practically feel the happiness radiating from him • ‘you didn’t get in too much trouble, did you? I’m sorry.’ you ask, voice low. feet trailing behind as you exit Starbucks • Guanlin’s eyes frost over with sadness. ‘No, no, don’t be. I’ll work it out, don’t worry. I’ve already told hyung...wait, how did you know?’ • he whips round to face Woojin, who casually says, ‘You know I had to.’ • Guanlin can only sigh and agree • however, as you walk down the busy street, cool breeze brushing past, he cheers up • ‘come on, let’s go see those Christmas lights!’ • without thinking, he slips his hand into yours and happily skips towards Orchard Road • MY HEART SOMEONE HOLD ME • Woojin quickly sneaks off to meet Jihoon • you don’t say a word, enjoying the feeling of your hands entwined together • ‘woah.’ the gasp leaves your lips before you can stop it, but it’s safe to say everyone is blown away by the Christmas decorations • government invests in this okay • I think so • a lot of people invest in these things here • there’s a massive arch greeting you at the entrance, calming blue and purple wire Christmas trees illuminate the structure, giving it a ‘wonderland feel’ • HYPE • Guanlin clutches you close, partly afraid of losing you in the crowd, partly because he feels reassured when he’s around you • both of you venture further, admiring all the sights of the busy road • you step through a futuristic portal Narnia entering The Walk Of Wonder, the reflective silver fabric blankets a myriad of blue fairy lights. it feels like magical creatures dancing among you, welcoming you into their universe • Guanlin’s phone camera does all the work • he has an adorable gummy smile on his face as he shows you pictures he took • ‘oh god! delete that! I wasn’t ready!’ • but he doesn’t listen and sets it as his wallpaper • Guanlin looks so amazed by what he’s seeing, like a small child, amusement evident in his cheery gaze • love love love love • you’re busy looking around for mistletoe • The Tree of Time indicates there’s only a couple of hours left before Christmas • maybe a few more hours til your first Christmas kiss • ooh ;) • ‘hey,’ Guanlin calls. ‘What’s that?’ He gestures to what seems like a mini village, warm lights emitting from the set up • shrugging, you venture forward to find Endless Wonder Christmas Village • btw you can find more about all these/if you need a visual representation of all this, click here • exchanging smug grins, you and Lin dash in the direction of delicious food • me too • you guys settle at a white picnic table, feasting under the stars • ‘oh god,’ Guanlin says. ‘I can’t believe I’m eating at this hour. I’m going to get fired.’ • you roll your eyes. ‘Shush, you’re 63kg [profile weight during pd101] at the most you need to gain weight. Don’t worry, I’ll fire your manager then.’ you drop another cookie into his mouth • mouth full, he grins widely, eyes forming slender crescents • ‘i’m happy seeing you eat. Idol life is stressful, take care of yourself.’ • ‘you sound like one of my hyungs,’ he teases playfully • ‘I mean it and I’m sure they do too. You should relax and enjoy yourself.’ • Guanlin daps a napkin on the sides of his mouth, hanging his head to avoid being spotted by fans • then, he meets eyes with you and smirks, reaching for your hand • ‘let’s go have fun!’ • fun? Pop-up amusement rides sound fun • ‘Guanlin I swear if you get me on this thing I’ll-‘ • *screams* • as the Teacup ride starts spinning • he laughs mercilessly. ‘This is a ride for kids, y/n!’ • he tells you ridiculous stories of his hyungs after. ‘Minhyun can’t ride the Viking ship ride, ever. He has nightmares of it.’ • Guanlin visibly loosens up once you know his idol status, but he does worry that someone might recognise him • despite his worries, he throws caution to the wind just to spend more fun times with you • lol fck rumours, fck paparazzi, I deserve to hang out with my best friend and enjoy too • eventually, you two pack up and continue exploring the lights as the night grows darker • ‘mhm, I’ll tell you my whole idol story when we get ice cream at midnight,’ he promises • you seal it with your pinky • a dozen more pictures fill up both camera rolls as you two pose beside candy canes • snowmen • gingerbread men • which Guanlin buys the edible kind for you at the Christmas market • ‘hehehe hyungs must be so jealous of all the good food we’re eating >:)’ • guys, whenever I see this ‘>:)’ it just reminds me of Red Velvet during Peek-A-Boo • I can’t dksjskdksjsbd • ‘omg y/n you’re so evil you bit off his head.’ • GUANLIN’S REFERRING TO THE GINGERBREAD OF COURSE • ‘hehehe >:)’ • also you: ‘stfu Guanlin don’t lie and say you wouldn’t too.’ • walk walk walk • ‘truth or dare lin?’ • ‘dare.’ • ‘I dare you to take an ornament from that tree.’ • PLEASE DON’T ACTUALLY TAKE ANYTHING THIS CHRISTMAS • you ended up with a new purple star ornament in your arms • Guanlin signs it with a heart using a borrowed Tokyo Hands marker • ‘can’t ignore my adoring fans :”)’ • you sigh his baseball cap, which he’s surprisingly thrilled about • after all the excitement has died and the two of are worn out, you settle at an ice cream parlour that’s still open • maybe since its the holidays • you talk while spooning ice cream into each others’ mouths • how romantic • where is mY MISTLETOE GOD DO YOUR THING LET’S GET IT • ‘I enjoyed my time today, it was so good to have a break and spend it with you,’ Guanlin says, honesty in his voice. ‘I’ll miss you so much. You truly light up my life.’ • aha this collaboration cannot end without my puns • you chuckle, placing your hand in his again. ‘Ahh, I’ll miss you too. Please don’t make your manager mad and you can tell me more about your group the next facetime. I’ll be sure to buy your album on iTunes.’ • cue gummy smile before a devilish grin overtakes his cuteness • ‘you better, if not,’ he pauses to launch tickles at your sides. ‘I’ll tickle you to death.’ • laughing, you fight him off, gently pushing his hands away • comfortable silence fills the gaps as you stare out at the streets, still lively, still bright like stars against the midnight sky • ‘go,’ you say softly. ‘go make me proud. go be my star and shine on stage.’ • he nods, heart bursting with love for you. ‘I will. Don’t worry. Ooh, you should come to our performance sometime.’ the sides of his mouth blossom into a smile at the thought of you cheering in the crowd for him • ‘ehhh, does that mean my Christmas gift this year is a Wanna One lightstick?’ • Guanlin puts his hands up in mock surrender. ‘you caught me, what can I say?’ • you both collapse into laughter but truthfully, he knows there’s a prettily wrapped Wanna One lightstick sitting in your P.O box • and maybe, you get his more of his love than usual💖 • MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!💚❤️❤️💚💚❤️❤️💚💚❤️❤️💚💚❤️💚

12/24: An Earth Prime Christmas
Night had fallen on Earth Prime’s Paragon City, and the towering buildings glittered in the magnificent array of dancing lights. Shops had put up their seasonal red, greening, and illuminated displays, offering candy canes and gingerbread men on napkins to passersby. Carols echoed in blissful harmony up and down the streets while bells rang in accompaniment. Blanketed in the charm of falling snow, the season of Christmas was delightfully welcomed among the old, young, and otherwise. Despite the smells and sights of the largest Primean settlement, Matt still had very much planned to complete before the glorious day arrived. Every minute mattered.
“Alright, get those boxes up and out!” Matt called, “We must ship fast but gifts too slow!” Muscles van Stranglehaus effortlessly lifted another large pallet of multi-colored crates onto a large wagon. Fully loaded, the harnessed therapod Bob Wrex pulled them into Alpha Station, where Melvin and his robots, the Unitoroids, led by Unit-46, sorted them by product for mass shipping. Unloading had taken far too long than expected, but this was a crucial step in making sure no presents got lost. Matt was not getting kitty pjs again, if he could help it. Truth be told, this was the first time had been a part of a process like this perhaps in all his life, born on E.P. and away on the Earth he lived. Despite the hectic nature of it all, a bit of him was glad to have something he felt he belonged to, if not for a moment. It was also nice to not have to rely on Sword or Knife for anything drastic, he chuckled to himself. Those two could use a break. Knife’s puffy cream-white snow cap bobbed as she chased Duke, Matt’s long-haired German Shepherd. Duke bounded over the fallen snow whenever she drew near. Sword, in a more somber black coat to Knife’s white, made the two seem more like sisters than Weaponsonas. She kept tiny glimpses of a smile on her face as she watched them play, not knowing Matt was eyeing her. He was about to say something when a purple blur filled his vision. “Merred Crambles, Kami-sama!” Junpei cheered. Matt rolled his eyes, “Not now, Junpei. Getting the last of it accounted for. How’s everything inside?” “Peach-tastic! Mr. Person says we’ll be ready in no time!” “Rinteru and Kagehiro back yet?” “Still on delivery. Must be Fumatori Kagehiro-san’s murders taking so long.” “What?” “Nothing!” “Beastakyuu and Shoto?” “Handling Tree Hollow’s gifts right now. He’ll be free as soon as he can.” “Raf and Miuna?” “Who knows?” “Fine, must be important,” Matt shook his head. “I know Efpy’s AFK and Marx is busy with his bar right now. Seems we’re stretched pretty thin.” Junpei put a sleeve to his chin. “The Red Nosed Bazilisk can still work like a charm. And no hide or hair of Afterglow or Motay!” “Good…”, Matt sighed. He ran his fingers through the black fringes of his hair. “Tell Person I’ll be inside soon.” Junpei saluted with his purple sleeve. “Roger, Kami-Salami!” He plodded through the snow in his brown boots, chanting “Yume” until he was inside. “Anything I can help with?” Sword asked, now closer to Matt. He jumped at the sudden sound of her voice. “Wah! Frag, you got me!” “It wasn’t my intention…”, Sword muttered. “No, don’t worry!”, Matt fixed his red jacket. ”I want you two to enjoy Christmas. You do so much work every other day of the year. You deserve to relax.” Matt waved her inside, Knife and Duke following behind. Sword wished to say more, but kept her request in silence. With the last shipment of gifts inside, Matt began the search for Mr. Person in the main control bay. The mysterious man in a suit and gas mask greeted Matt with a nod. The screen told him everything he needed about the stock of presents: train sets, markers, dolls and action figures; batteries for robots, model kits, and game boards; books, drones, sports gear and bikes; all shipping out to every corner of the fourteen continents. When the fifty foot Main Street Christmas Tree is lit, that is the signal to begin the gift giving. All was going according to keikaku. “All’s going according to keikaku!” said Junpei. Matt glared. “Don’t ever say that again.” Mr. Person chuckled. “Do I get a present too?” Knife asked. “Of course you do,” Matt said. “Everyone will. But it’s a secret.” Knife looked at Duke. “Yours too.” Duke tilted his head. She smiled and patted Duke’s head with her gloved hand. Matt was about to leave when a loud rumbled tripped the perimeter alarm, causing Duke to whine. “That’s coming from Shipment!” Mr. Person yelled. ”The Master Unit!” “Not the keikaku!” Junpei cried. The group rushed down to find a hole blown into the roof. Panicked Unitoroids clambered about, trying to seize fallen presents. Atop a hoverpod far too big for him smirked an all too familiar insect-like foe. “Ho, ho, ho, you tinseled fools! It is I, Weevil, the Tiny Master of Evil!” Matt growled. “Again with this slag, Weevil? I thought I left you chillin’ over an open volcano?!” “Your boy wasn’t hot! And neither will your holiday be, now that I have THE MASTER CONTROL SWITCH! And… this thing which was right next to it!” In Weevil’s gritty silhouette hand rested a tiny green and red striped box from the stack. It was dotted with snowflakes, a smiling snowman, and fixed shut with a red bow. Weevil shook it. “What is this anyway?” “Don’t shake that!” Matt roared. “It’s important inside!” “Since it’s so important to you, it’s coming with me!” Mr. Person drew his gun, but Weevil’s hoverpod had a few more gun. “Everyone, get back, Matt shouted, reaching for Sword. She transformed and shifted her stance into Greatsword. The hunk of metal easily blocked the array of lasers. Weevil took the opportunity to escape to his main ship, link the hoverpod, and fly off into the wintery night sky. Matt reverted Sword to standard and gazed after the ship, furious but reluctant. “What are you doing?” Sword asked. “I just… I wanted you to have a day off! That was the whole point of this Christmas!” “Nonsense! This is what I was made to do! Now after Weevil or everyone’s work would’ve been pointless!” Matt changed her stance to Wing, gaining four floating swords on each side. “Junpei! Person!” Matt called, “Take Knife and Duke and get everyone into position! We’re having this Christmas!” With that, he flew off after Weevil’s ship.
Weevil set the Master Control and Matt’s gift on the dash. He didn’t need to steal any presents if he could destroy the tradition. How else would anyone receive any gifts, or even know to commence the festivities? Truly a diabolical scheme. So much so, he couldn’t resist breaking into song: “I don’t want a gift for Christmas! That happiness will make me gag! My wish is true: All I want for Christmas Is Doom~!”
A violent rumble emanated through the hull. Weevil brought up his screen to communicate with his Weevbots.
“That better not be what I’m thinking it was back there, soldier.” “No, sir,” the Weevbot replied. “No violent decapitations here, sir.” “Good- wait what?” A swipe of a blade, and the screen turned static. “Gah! If ya want something done right, build a gun to do it,” Weevil grumbled. He reached for a laser gun when there was a tapping on the door. Knowing exactly who it was and how mad he would be, Weevil tiptoed closer to the door, crouched low, and open fired. Twelve smoking holes were left in the door, killing the last remaining Weevbot on the ship behind it. “Oops,” Weevil shivered. “Yeah, oops.” Matt said behind the evil bug (?) man. He kicked him through the door and retrieved both his present and the control switch. “You retrieved both your present and the control switch!” Junpei beamed, having teleported into the cockpit because it’s Junpei. “Will you knock that-look out!” Matt blocked a laser from Weevil’s gun with his present, protecting Junpei with it, while using a Wingbeam to disarm Weevil. The two escaped out the window, but not before striking the Emergency Explode on Weevil’s dash. “NOOOO! WHY DO I EVEN HAVE THAT BUTTON?!” Behind Matt and Junpei was an explosion that looked more like fireworks than anything else. The Primeans adored the lightshow above as the Main Street Tree glowed like a halo. Tonight, everyone would receive a touch of love in the holiday spirit. But it was not without its tragedies. Returning to Alpha Control, They were met by Mr. Person, Knife, and Duke once more. Duke’s present, a red and green ball, found itself swiftly buried in snow. Sword returned human, and stood by Matt’s side. “Is it okay?” She asked. Matt unwrapped it to inspect the fullness of the damage. There was nothing that could have been done to salvage the destroyed gift, a large burn through the center of the frame. “It was a picture of all of us…” Matt said. ”It wasn’t much, but I wanted to get something all of us could share. I guess with how everyone is, it was a dumb gift anyway.” “Nuh-uh!” Knife protested. “I like it!” She gave Matt a hug. “The important tasks are done here,” Mr. Person said. “Think you’ll be going back home?” “Think they’ll need me down there?” Sword looked down. “You made our Christmas great, so it’s fair you make theirs as well.” Matt nodded in agreement to her words. “And I’ll go with you!” Junpei smiled like a cat. “Heck no.”

Mortem In Contumeliam FFVI, Ch. XIII
Chapter 13 of "Mortem In Contumeliam Final Fantasy VI," a Final Fantasy VI fan fiction story.
Tako-tako-tako, spo-i-ler~ (Don't tease the readers, kids~)
Also, if this chapter seems a little… "compressed?"  There's a good reason for it… I was getting tired of writing so many chapters!  Weh!  This is handily and easily the longest single story I have ever written!! (At least, if you don't count Essence of Ragnarok as one very long story.) … but, if it does seem like things got rushed, I apologize. I think the pacing is okay… but, I wrote it, so…
Word count: 5,582 – Character count: 32,443 Originally written: July 28th, 2019 Partially rewritten: Same day
There's panic in the air as the Blackjack finds unwanted company high above the world!
Final Fantasy VI, Wedge, Biggs, and related characters, scenarios, and properties created by Square Soft, Inc. and © Square Enix Co, Ltd.
[ ← Prev. Chapter | Next Chapter → ]
A gigantic cloak of darkness fell over the airship, Blackjack, and its crew.  High above them was something that not one of them had ever seen before… an entire continent of land, held aloft through unknown means – though, one beholder had their theories.
“The origin of magic… the Three Warring Gods…”     All eyes were on Stragos, an old mage from Samasa Village.  He wore a look of shock and dismay, seemingly talking to himself… or, perhaps, no one at all.     “They found them… the three, sealed in stone…”     “The Empire?” Lock loudly asked as he ran over to the old man.  “They found the Warring Triad?!”     “They sealed themselves… canceled out each other’s powers and brought balance back to the world they’d helped destroy…”     All-at-once, he spun around, grabbing the treasure hunter by the collar.     “If– if those fools do anything to the triad… even turn one statue away from another by just a fraction…!     “W… what would happen?” Tina asked, choosing to stay by Wedge for the time.     “The balance would crumble…!  And… and, their power would…”     He trailed off as Lock pulled himself free.  Despite leaving his thought unfinished… it didn’t take much guessing to figure out where he was going with it.
“Well?  I think it’s pretty obvious what we need to do, kupo!”     Wedge gave a blink before joining the others in looking toward the steering wheel.  Standing there was a small creature, covered in white fur, with an angler-like bauble on his head and tiny, purple wings on his back.  He had his arms crossed and unless the former soldier missed his guess… seemed to be speaking the same language as everyone else!     “We need to go up there and kick some butt, kupo!” the creature told the group.     “Do… moogles normally talk like people…?” the soldier asked Tina.     “No, but I made Old Man Rumah teach me the language, kupo!” the moogle replied with a chittering chuckle.  “You’d know that if you were here when this lot rescued me, kupo!”     “It’s a weird story involving a thieving wolf,” Lock added.  “We’ll explain later.  For now, Mog’s right!”     “‘Mog…?’”  Wedge chuckled to himself, much to Mog’s irritation.     “Setzer!”     “Yes?” the ship’s owner answered.     “Think this baby can catch up to that flyin’ island?”     “I’d bet my life on it!” was his confident reply.     “That may well be the case…”     Stragos suddenly whispered as Setzer ran to the controls, shooing the other man way as he made adjustments.     “If we don’t stop the Empire…”     “We will, gran’pa!” his granddaughter told him.     He shakily looked over… only to brighten up as she gave him a comforting smile.     “Bless you for–”     “‘My mom’s spirit,’ yeah-yeah,” she interrupted.  “Get us up there, Fancy-Pants!”     Setzer blinked and paused before giving a nod.  Then, they were off!
The ship’s engines groaned and the machinery whirled, causing the ship to move faster than anyone else dared to fly it.  Not long after, the airship pushed through the clouds and followed the continent as it reached a stable altitude.  A look overboard would have told any of those onboard that the ground was a long… long… way below them, but everyone’s focus was on boarding that continent and stopping the Empire from doing any more damage!
“Um…  I don’t want to alarm anyone, but…”  Setzer paused before announcing, “We’ve got company!”     “What?  No, that’s impossible!” Edgar shouted as he ran to the side of the ship and looked over.  But, sure enough…     “Machines!  Heading right for us!!”     A legion of what looked like flying Magitek Powered Armor was chasing them, propellers whirling from their sides and mechanical arms reaching up with metal claws.
“You!”     Wedge gave another blink… before finding himself shaken by his chest plate.     “Gyaah!!  Lock, what the he–”     “Why didn’t you warn us about these flying things?!” the angry man interrupted.     “Would you believe me if I said ‘I didn’t know?’”     The ex-soldier offered a little grin… but, Lock just scoffed and let him go.     “You’re absolutely useless, you know that?” he said as he walked over to the pilot.     “Love you, too…”  Wedge adjusted his armor with a sneer.  “Jerk.”
“Setzer, what’re our options?”     “Well, that depends…”  The nobleman grinned as he asked, “How many of you own bows and arrows?  Because… this ship is entirely without weaponry!”     “Edgar has an auto-crossbow…” Macías helpfully suggested, drawing a dirty look from his brother.     “Actually…”  Lock turned to the king and asked, “Hey, Edgar, what else ya got?”     “Uh… I have a couple of Noiseblasters…” he said as he checked his pockets and cape, “a Chainsaw, a Drill… this broken camera we weaponized…”     “Those Noiseblasters and that camera of yours.  Are they easy to use?”     “Fairly easy.”  The king hummed… then, he gave a smile.  “I think I see where this is going…  Good thinking, Lock!”
“Right!  Kaien, Wedge, Mog, grab a tool!”     The trio did as they were instructed, Wedge and Mog grabbing the Noiseblasters while Kaien picked the broken camera, giving it an utterly baffled look…     “Everyone else?  Magic up and form a perimeter!”
Wedge tilted his head as everyone ran to one side of the ship or the other, the group making an uneven circle around the railing.  Four of them – including himself – were holding devices while Lock pulled out what looked like a boomerang and a sharp-looking metal disc.  Almost everyone else had brought their hands up, channeling energy and preparing to use whatever magic they had at their disposal.  Two, however, didn’t quite seem combat-ready.
“Gau, Gau!” the green-haired wild child shouted from beside Wedge.     “Aren’t you gonna… uh… ‘magic up?’” he asked as he tried to figure out how to work the strange-looking hearing horn that was attached to a metal box.     “Gau fight how Gau know!” was the child’s reply.  “Gau be bad guy!”     The former soldier had no idea what he meant by that… until the boy stood back and drew a sword from seemingly nowhere.  A second later…     “This is the end of the line!” he shouted, sounding nothing like himself.  “Everyone, hold your positions!  We’re in for a decisive battle!”     “Gau…?  Are you feeling–”     “Back off, Imperial scum!” the boy yelled, jerking away from Wedge and giving him a steely glare.  “You’re lucky we’re shorthanded, otherwise I’d throw you overboard, myself!”     The ex-soldier… was understandably confused by the uncharacteristic display of leadership and borderline-antagonistic behavior he was given.  When he took a look around… no one else seemed bothered.  Not even Stragos and Lilum, the newest additions to the Returners.  Though, that may have been because they were busy arguing…
“Lilum can help, gran’pa!!” Lilum told him.     “You don’t know how to use magic!” was her grandfather’s reply as he readied his own.     “Lilum knows, but Lilum can paint ‘em up!  They just… need to stay still for Lilum!” she explained as one aircraft went whizzing by, below.     “Go down to the lower deck and wait for me to tell you it’s safe.”     “But–”     “Lilum!”  The old man spun around and scowled.  “For the sake of your departed mother, just–”     “Look out!!”     Before Stragos could turn back around, an orange-red suit of powered armor came up from the side of the main ship.  A panel opened and it began charging energy, when…     “Hold that pose!!”     Lilum pushed her grandfather aside, pulled out her paintbrush, and waved it around.  Wedge almost couldn’t believe his eyes as, right next to the powered armor… another appeared only to crash into the original, propellers-first, then vanished as the panicked, distant screams of one very perplexed soldier filled the air before fading away.
“We make a great team, gran’pa!” she chipperly said as her grandfather caught his breath.  “Gran’pa Stragos ‘n The Great Lilum, Heroes for Justice!!  Sounds cool, huh?”     “Y– yes… very ‘cool,’” Stragos panted.  A second later, he gave a begrudging smile and told her, “Stay close and keep your eyes peeled, granddaughter!  We’ll lick these soldiers, yet!”     “Yaaaaay!!  Er, Lilum means…” Lilum corrected as she took on a more moderate attitude, “You got it, gran’pa!”     With that, the two redoubled their focus as a team, ready for the next attack.
    “Here they cooome…!”
That was the war-cry that Setzer gave from the controls of the Blackjack, keeping the ship steady as the Imperial Air Force closed in.  Wave-after-wave of their flying units darted and weaved in, some shooting lasers, some firing missiles, and some drawing close enough to slash at the support beams keeping the giant, metal air-pouch and its passenger car attached.  But, just like the one that tried to attack Stragos and Lilum… each-and-every-one of them failed.     Some of the air units were knocked out of the sky with a well-placed electrical attack.  Some of them were popped like balloons and made to explode by either a flurry of arrows from Edgar or a curious, violent wind that seemed to come from Gau.  Others found themselves out-of-control due to pilot error, sometimes by a deafening roar from one of two Noiseblasters, or by an absolutely blinding flash of light coming from Kaien’s camera… usually, by accident.
Eventually, what few units remained decided to break off and fly away, causing those on board to cheer!  But, that cheering would be shortlived…     “Hey, do you guys see that…?”     Something weird was floating toward them.     “That can’t possibly be…”     Something shiny!  Something slimy…  Something that wriggled and writhed.     “Gran’pa, look!  It’s that octopus from before!”     Something… that almost everyone on board recognized as…     “Orthros!!”
A giant, purple, jellyfish-like creature with eight, wiggling limbs and a row of razor-sharp teeth had flown in from nowhere and landed at the head of the ship, squirming and grinning as best as he could.     “You remembered!” he called.  “I’m touched!  Really!”     “What the hell is that thing?!” Wedge called out.     “That, soldier, is a giant octopus!” Gau told him before clearing his throat and hunching down to growl.  “Octo-man bad!  Try hurt fight lady!”     “Alas, that was not one of my finer moments!” Orthros sighed, bringing one tentacle up to his forehead, closing his eyes.  “It’s against my very nature to harm a lady!”     He paused, peeking out with one eye.     “Especially one that’s dynamite in a virgin-white dress!  Woo-woo!”     “You… be qu-quiet!” Celes spat, looking both flustered at and furious with him.     “Ah, and I see the cute girl with the long legs is here, too!”     Two tendrils waved toward the sky as he made some strange, squishing noises.     “Did’ja miss me, baby?”     For the first time that Wedge could recall… he actually saw Tina blush.  She wasn’t saying anything, but her shy, uncomfortable body language said certainly more than words could…     “What did you do to–?!”     “Aaand… beret-girl is here, too!  Wonderful!”     He squirmed forward, reaching toward the distant Lilum.     “Come give Uncle Orthy a hug, cutie-pie!”     “Lilum would rather paint your picture, again!” the young girl smartly said, causing the octopus to recoil.
“Anyhoo,” he said after taking a moment to recover, “I heard you guys were gonna save the world!  Great!  I’m all for it!  In fact, that’s why I came!  Let me join up and lend a hand… or, a bunch’a hands!  Just imagine what all these gorgeous hands could do for you!  Ladies.”     When he gave a wink, Tina finally hid behind Wedge and Lilum pulled her beret over her face, seeming more bothered than embarrassed.  Celes, on the other hand…     “Why don’t you drop dead, you lech?!” she shouted as she drew a new sword – a red sword with a spiked blade that looked like fire.  Wedge recognized it as a Flametongue.     “Now, hang on, Celes…”     Lock raised a hand to the former general as he walked over to the then-crying Orthros.
“Look.  Orthros.  No offense, but… you aren’t the most trustworthy cephalopod we’ve ever met.  Why the sudden interest in saving the world?”     “Are you kiddin’ me?!” the octopus exclaimed.  “Why wouldn’t I wanna save the world?!  Could you imagine how rich and famous I’d be…?  ‘Sexy octopus saves world from weird island!’  Oh, the babes would be breaking down my door to get a piece’a this!”     His cheeks turned a rosy pink as he fell into a self-made fantasy.     “Ladies, please!  I only have eight tentacles!  Wait your turn and I promise… I’ll send you all to sticky, wriggly heaven one-by-one!  Mwah, mwah, mwah!!”     “You’re disgusting,” Edgar – of all people – told him.  “Go home.”     “Oh, I see how it is!”  Orthros crossed two tentacles in front of him.  “You guys wanna save the world so you get all the fame and glory!  Well, then…”     The octopus’ head curled upward, causing his teeth to bend in a weird… yet, somewhat-threatening way.     “I’m just gonna have to beat you all up and steal your ride!  En garde!”
Edgar, Celes, and Lock stepped up as the octopus affixed itself to the deck with four arms, the other four wriggling erratically as he shimmied in-place.  All three of them drew their weapons, ready for a fight!     “This is our last battle!” their opponent called in a lighthearted way.  “It’s true, it’s true!”     “You’ve got that right…” Celes coldly told him.  “Fira!!”     Orthros screamed like a frightened little girl as a sharp curtain of flame swept across the deck and hit its mark, bathing the octopus in a powerful wall of flames!  He twitched, scorched and red, before sliding off the ship’s head and out-of-sight.  It seemed like the battle was over before it even started!  But, just as the trio put their weapons back…     “Ugh…  Losing, again…!”     Everyone heard that creepy, unnerving voice call from below.  Shortly after, everyone stared as the octopus slowly floated back into view.
“I knew this’d happen…” he hissed at the men and women of the Blackjack, “so that’s why, today, I’ve got a strooooong ally!  Folks, lemme introduce you to…”
The whole group went wide-eyed as Orthros continued to float up.  It wasn’t long before they realized, however… that he wasn’t floating.  He was sitting on something.  Something pink and cloud-like… something huge… something with piercing, yellow eyes, strong arms with sharp claws, and something with a gaping maw full of horrible, jagged teeth.
“Grand Master Typhon!!” Orthros announced as he flopped back onto the ship and enthusiastically waved a pair of paper fans he’d retrieved from… somewhere.  “Say ‘allo, GMT!”     Everyone had to cover their ears and brace themselves as a massive blast of wind rushed over the deck, accompanied by a teeth-rattling “Gruhk– phuuuuuhhhn!!”     “Articulate, ain’ ‘e?”
The octopus waved his fans and cheered as his “master” took swings and swipes at the group of adventurers, his claws crashing against Celes’ fiery blade and Edgar’s lance while his other arm blocked the tossed projectiles from Lock.     “Yeah,” he said, “he may not have my natural good looks or my silver tongue… but, his strength’ll blow you away!!”     Typhon pounded the deck, causing the airship to physically dip enough for some people to lose their footing.  Setzer stabilized the vehicle and everyone got back to their feet, then.     “The master’s scaaary if you get him maaad!” Orthros warned, wriggling his arms as Typhon inhaled…  “Seriously, he’s teeerrifying!  You guys might get eeeaten…!”     The octopus paused as his companion spewed fireballs at everyone within range.  Setzer was quick to shout orders to douse the flames while the trio fighting him continued their attack… seemingly, with little effectiveness.     “Why… just the other day, I was dozing off and I got my head gnawed on!”  Orthros laughed.  “Guess GMT was bored or hungry or somethin’…  Man, do his teeth hurt!”     “Tph.  Tph tph,” the frightening, pink creature huffed, covering his face as blades and blunt objects came his way.  He didn’t seem like he was into the fight as much as his friend…
“So, you guys give up?” Orthros eventually asked.  “You gonna let me join up, now?”     “In your dreams, ink-breath!” Celes shouted, still visibly angry from before.     He closed the fans then flipped them open, waving them toward the big, pink thing.     “Master Tyyyphon.”     “Grnk?”     “Give ‘em the good stuff, pal!”     Typhon paused.  And, then…     “Hyah!!”     Celes leaped up and heel-kicked Orthros right in the face!!
“Cuuurse yooou and your sexy leeeeegs…!!”     The octopus sadly cried out as he fell off the ship for a second time.  Once he was out of earshot, the three at the bow, as well as everyone else, turned their attention to Typhon…
Lock leaned over to Edgar and whispered, “Why isn’t he moving?” noticing Typhon’s sudden disinterest in fighting.  The creature hadn’t done much since Orthros’ departure.     “I… don’t know.”  The king of Figaro pondered before suggesting, “Maybe, he’s bored?”     “Could be…”  The treasure hunter stared at the giant beast…  “Should we do something?”     “Blizzara!!”     Both men jolted as a female voice broke the unwelcome silence.  When they looked, they noticed that Celes had made another move, angrily pointing a finger at Typhon… who had a huge chunk of ice attached to his face.
“Celes…!!” Lock squeaked as he ran over to the woman.  “What did you do?!”     “I took the initiative and disabled my opponent,” she calmly explained, holding her sword with both hands after her spell.     “Okay, but…”     Lock frowned, glancing at the creature who was frantically scratching at the magical ice.     “He wasn’t doing anything, anymore…”     “He attacked, first!” she countered.  “Now, are you going to stand there and judge me, or are you going to–”     “Graaaaahhh…!!”     The three of them were thrown backward as Typhon broke free of the ice, his booming voice sending splinters everywhere.
“Just get rid of him, already!” Setzer called from the ship’s console, looking genuinely worried about the additional holes to the top deck.  “He’s hurting my baby…!”     “We’re working on it!” Celes shouted back.  “Thundara!!”     The giant beast groaned as a crackling line of electricity ran from her hand to his body, zapping him.  A second later, he retaliated with another flurry of fireballs, causing Setzer to shout about the ship even more.
“This is getting us nowhere!” Edgar called as he shot the beast with his Auto-Crossbow.  “I’m not even sure we’re hurting it!”     “Gotta say… I think you’re right,” Lock agreed as his bladed disc bounced off Typhon’s head.  “This thing is just too strong for–”     “Fira!!”
Both men leaped out of the way as a tongue of flame violently slashed the pink giant right across the face.  When he stopped moving and brought both gnarled hands up…     “I… think you got his attention, Celes…”     Lock smirked.  It didn’t seem like Typhon was in a fighting mood, anymore.  Actually, he seemed to be breathing pretty heavily, for some reason…
“Are you ready to concede?” the former general asked, standing at-the-ready, just in case he decided he’d rather keep fighting.     “Hruuh… hruuh…” he panted, keeping his face covered.     “The lady asked you a question,” Lock said in a scathing tone.  “You give up, Pinky?”     “Hruuh… hraah…!”     “Wait a second…!!”     All eyes were back on Stragos.  He’s shouted and looked like he’d just seen a ghost!
“I just remembered something!  I know what this creature is!” he called.     “Okay?  Good?”  Lock crossed his arms.  “Do you know how to beat it?”     “No, but…”     “Hraah… hraaaaah…!!”     “Gods above!  Everyone, get down!!”
He’d tried…  He really had.  But, Stragos was too late to warn them…     “Hraaah-pheeeeew…!!”     That Typhon had some seriously strong nasal passages!
The people closest to the beast found themselves blown overboard, all three of them hanging on to the rails in a half-panic.  The people to the sides were knocked to their feet or tossed up against the guardrails, thrown for a loop.  As for the people straight ahead…     “Look out…!!”     Wedge stood in front of Tina, guarding her with his body as a huge, semi-invisible projectile warped the air and headed right toward them.  As it made contact with the former soldier, he expected it to hurt.  However…     “Whaaa-hoo-hoowaaah…!!”     It, instead, sent him flying… right off the deck and, unfortunately… much farther than even the people closest to Typhon.  He had absolutely no chance of grabbing onto anything and wound up in a freefall some distance away from the Blackjack!
For several moments, he flailed his limbs and screamed in a complete panic!  As the realization that he was going to become a really big mess on the ground far-far below set in… he stopped screaming and put his hands over his face, deciding not to watch.     “So, this is how it ends?” he asked himself.  “With an over-the-top sneeze and a looooong plummet with a very sudden stop at the end!  Can’t say I ever imagined that one…”     He sighed, moving his hands and crossing his arms.     “Ya know… I don’t think the Imperial Army ever planned for anything like this…  Or, maybe, they did?  I didn’t even know we had air machines, ‘til now, so…”     He gave another sigh, closing his eyes and going silent for a while.     “Guess there’s nothing left to do but–”     “Weeedge!”     The ex-soldier gave a blink.  He could swear he’d heard a female voice scream his name.     “Great, now I’m hearing things…”     “Weeeeedge…!”     “Go away, female-voice-in-my-head!  I’m already freaking out enough without you–”     “Weeeeedge…!!”     “Okay, fine, what?”     “Grab on…!!”
Wedge gave a hard blink.  Grab onto what? he thought.  A second later…     “Please…!!  Take my hand…!!”     That same, somewhat-distorted voice called to him from his left.  He finally convinced himself to look… only to see a vaguely-familiar, glowing form in a dive right next to him.     “T… T-Tina…?”     She was desperately reaching for him with one purple-pinkish, clawed hand, her angular face full of worry and fright.     “Grab on…!!” she called, again.  Not a second later, he did just that before being pulled into her arms to hang on for dear life!
“Look, not that I’m not grateful that I have someone I love escorting me to the great beyond… but, Tina!”  He squeezed her.  “I’m gonna kill you if you didn’t get sneezed off, too!”     “I followed you!” she shouted over the whipping air.  “I couldn’t let you die…!!”     “You idiot…  I’m gonna kill you.”     Wedge smiled, giving her a loving hug.     “You seriously leaped after me?  I… uh… hang– hang on.  Something’s not right.”     He looked around.  Were they falling… slower?     “Tina…  Um, tell me something.”     “Yes?” she called in a softer, calmer tone.     “Your Eidolon half…  Uh, can it, by chance… fly?”     “Yes,” was her simple answer as she slowed, stopped, then started flying back up, carefully carrying the former soldier in her arms.  “You didn’t know?”     Wedge blushed… then, he sighed.     “Just… get me back on the airship, please.”
The fall down had taken about three minutes, but the flight back up took twice as long.  He watched Tina, feeling relieved that she didn’t seem to be struggling with him… but, felt extremely embarrassed that he didn’t know she could fly… not that he’d have any reason to think otherwise, of course.  He’d only seen that form twice, counting his current situation, and the first time was a less-pleasant experience, for him.  Still… he was glad that she’d come to his aid.  And, as he looked her over… he couldn’t help but notice how pretty her Eidolon form was.  He made a note to ask her to pose and turn for him in that form, later.
“This is as far as I can go…”
Tina landed somewhere before collapsing onto her knees.  Wedge was quick to kneel beside her, ready to help her to her feet.  When they both stood, he looked around… only to scowl and furrow his brow.     “Tina…?”     “Y-yes…?” she panted.     “Either this isn’t the airship… or, Typhon really did a number on the flight deck.”
They both looked around at their surroundings.  Just as Wedge had noted, they weren't standing on the deck of an airship… but, rather, a large chunk of rock and dirt which, not unlike the airship, was hanging in the air and flying free.  Unlike the airship, though, the mass of land seemed twisted and torn, and seemed to stretch on for quite some distance.
“Weee’re… on that flying continent, aren’t we…?”     “I… I couldn’t make it,” she told him, leaning on his frame.  “I don’t have the stamina… haa… to stay in that form… for very long.  I’m sorry…”     “Hey, hey, it’s alright…”     Wedge smiled, gently nudging her head up.     “You saved my life.  Which is funny… ‘cause, it’s usually the guy who saves the girl!”     “I can… relate to that…”     He gave a blink… then, he smiled, more.  She was grinning at him.
“So, we’re stuck on this island ‘til your friends head this way, huh?”     “I guess so…”     Tina slowly parted from her friend… only to wobble and fall to her knees, again.     “T-Tina!”  He was quick to kneel behind her.  “Are you okay?”     “N-not really…” she admitted.     “Still worn out from the trip back up?”     “Yes, but… there’s something else.”     Slowly, she raised a gloved hand, pointing into the distance.  Biggs had to adjust his goggles before he noticed…     “Are those…?”     “The Warring Triad…”
He couldn’t see it very well… but, situated at the approximate center of the island, stood upon some sort of plateau, were a trio of gray figures.  While he couldn’t make out any of their features, he could seem the radical power emanating from them.  Considering that he wasn’t the slightest bit magically-inclined… it was enough to send shivers up his spine.
“This entire island,” Tina told him as they both stood back up, “is being held in the sky by those three.  This place also feels… familiar.”     The girl looked at him with sad eyes.     “I think… this may be what became of my home…”     “Wait… are you trying to tell me that this island, itself, is the Eidolon’s World…?”     “Wh-what’s left of it, anyway…”  She shivered.  “My home…  My dad’s friends…  It’s all… it’s all…!”     “Tina, no… please, don’t cry…”     But, she couldn’t help it.  The realization that they were standing on what little remained of her home… that the Empire had, more-than-likely, utterly eradicated all of the Eidolons… hit her like a ton of bricks.  It was emotionally overwhelming for the poor, half-Eidolon girl.
“W… W-Wedge…?”     “Y– yeah, Tina?”     She looked up from hiding her face against his chest.  Despite her wet eyes… she looked angry.  Angry… and, determined.     “We have to stop the Empire.  Even if it means… if it means…”     She looked away, sounding like she didn’t want to finish that thought.     “Yeah… yeah, I guess we– hey, wait, Tina!  Where are you going…?”     “I’m sorry, Wedge…”  She’d pushed him aside, then took a few steps away before telling him, “I have to do this.  For my family.  For my friends.  For my kind…”     Wedge hesitated… then, he started to give chase.  “Y-you don’t have to do this alone!”     “H-he’s right, you know… ehn…”     Both figures stopped in their tracks.  A somewhat-familiar, gravelly voice had spoken up.  When they turned to see who had spoken…     “S-Shadow!!”     Tina called with a start, covering her mouth with one hand.  There, shambling toward them, was a beat-up man completely covered in black cloth… which had been stained red, in places.  It could be none other than the self-made mercenary, Shadow.
“Damn the Empire – present company excluded…”     He coughed, giving a nod to Wedge as Tina started magically healing him.     “Once they were done with me, they tried to kill me…”     “They didn’t do a very good job,” the former soldier nervously joked.     “What’s worse?  I never got paid for the Triangle Island job.  Heh.”
“Are you going to be alright?” Tina asked as she finished.  She was trying to wipe his darkly-clad face with a white linen cloth, but he just kept ducking away.     “I’m fine, stop fussing over me,” he eventually told her, gently grabbing her wrist.  “We have bigger concerns, right now.”     “O-okay…”     She offered a slight smile as he let her go, then tucked her cloth into her dress pocket.     “Where are your friends?” was the man’s next question.  “We could use their help.”     “They’re… up there, I think?  And– oh!!”     She had pointed to the sky, but when she and the others actually looked… they were shocked to find that the Blackjack was being attacked by some massive construct!  By the look of it… the airborne vehicle was full of nasty weaponry, too.
“No…!” she gasped, covering her mouth, again.  “We have to do something…!”     “I mean… if you think you can fly up there, let’s go,” Wedge commented, “but…”     “I can’t–” the girl quickly answered before looking away in sudden silence.     “Then,” Shadow began, “I guess we have no choice but to go forward.”     Both Tina and Wedge gave a blink as Shadow stepped over to a rocky formation.  When he kicked it, they were both genuinely surprised as part of it collapsed into a pathway.
“It’s kind of a shame.”  He crossed his arms, leaning against the rocks as he told them, “I’m sure at least one of your other friends has a score to settle with the Empire.”     “More like, all of them…” Wedge added with a grin.     “We could just wait for them.  But…”     Shadow looked up and the other two followed suit.  That huge air vehicle was still focused on the Blackjack, bright flashes of magic and explosions firing off near both.     “They could be a while.”     “Hey, uh…”     They both turned to Wedge as he spoke up.     “As much as I’d love to go punch Kefka and Gestahl in the face, right now?”  He skittishly squirmed.  “I’m pretty sure they’d tear me apart.  I mean, hell, I left my sword… uh…”     He’d paused.  Tina was curiously looking at him with her hands folded over her lap.     “I left my sword… somewhere,” he half-lied, “so, I’m a bit under-dressed for combat.”     “You can use my sword, if you want!  I never use it, really…”     The former soldier gave a blink.  Tina had unhooked her scabbard from her sash and handed it and its blade over with absolutely no hesitation… and, a smile.     “Well… shi– oot.  Shoot,” he corrected himself.  “I guess I’m… ready to go, then?”     “Okay!”  Her smile brightened.  “Lead the way?  I’ll make sure no one sneaks up on us!”     “Who would possibly–”     A deafening roar from somewhere on the island stopped him from finishing that thought.  Somewhere… something was waiting for them and, from the sound of it… it was angry.
“You know… I think we should wait for the others!” Wedge suddenly exclaimed.  “Just in case there’s, uh… something really ugly up ahead!”     “Wedge…”     He gave a blink.  Tina had nudged up to him with a soft, sweet smile.     “It’s okay if you’re scared,” she told him in that innocent way she spoke.  “I’m scared, too.  But, we’re not alone.  We have Shadow, and he’s a super-cool ninja!”     Wedge wasn’t sure… but, he thought he heard said ninja chuckle.     “Plus…  We have each other…”     He blushed a little, then.  Tina held his hand in hers before looking right into his eyes.     “It’s okay if you’re scared…” she repeated in a softer voice.  “Just, don’t let that fear eat you up.  We’ll make it through and stop the bad-guys.  I promise.”     A moment later, she had to tilt her head.  One hand reached up, brushing his cheek.     “Wedge?” she asked, her face filling with concern.  “Are you crying?”     “You are such an innocent, sweet little cinnamon bun, Tina…”     “Thank y– oh– mm!!”
Shadow turned his head away, hiding his face behind one hand.  Without any warning, Wedge had grabbed the girl by her other hand and pulled her around to pull her closer.  A second later, he had done something he’d been wanting to do since the failed mission in Narshe.
    He kissed her.
“I… um… I… o-oh…”     Those were all the words Tina could find as she stood there, her face red with embarrassment and her hands fumbling over each other.  She had never been kissed like that… or, kissed at all, actually!  It was completely new to her, and… she wasn’t sure how to react!
“Listen…” Wedge said, causing her to jerk upright.  “I know this isn’t the time or place for that, but… Tina?”     He took a deep breath.     “I couldn’t live with myself… if I died before I let you know how I feel.”     “This really isn’t the time or place for this…” Shadow commented.     The former soldier grinned at the mercenary… who just shrugged and turned away, again.
“So… yeah.  Ever since that time in Narshe where I abused the Slave Crown–”     “Oh, come on!!” Shadow shouted.  A certain kind of picture had entered his mind.     “– I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.  I know you have a million other things on your mind… and, I know you have a whole company of cute guys you trust with your life… but, Tina?  I… I love you.  And, well… if we… no, if the world survives today?”     He inhaled, then exhaled as he told her…     “I’d… really like to take you out that date I promised.  I-if you still wanna, I mean!”     “I… I’d like that…” she shyly told him as she brushed some hair away from her face.     They shared a smile, then Wedge spun around, looking at Shadow.     “Sorry,” he told the mercenary.  “We’re set, now.  Let’s go kick Kefka’s ass!!”     “Finally…” the man in black sighed.  “Take the lead, ‘ex-soldier.’”     And, that’s exactly what he did as the extremely-unlikely trio navigated the island.

Decepticon For Life part.1
I was inspired by one beautiful person to start writing a Transformers story. This person is one and only @rocksinmuffin that we all love and cherish. Forgive me any mistakes, I’m not fluent in English, but I try my best like everyone else does! I hope you enjoy this story.
A booming voice from the room next to your small office was heard in every cube and room on your floor. Your boss was calling you.. You jumped up from your seat so quickly that the chair behind you almost fell over in your rush. You quickly made your way to your boss’s office where he was already glaring in your direction before you even got there.
”Yes mister Perry?” You asked, trying to keep your voice calm and panic away. Your boss would eat you alive if you showed any signs of fear towards him. Fear would have been kindest feeling bestowed to you towards your boss. The balding middle-aged man had too much power for one person only to have and your job rested in his hands. In a temperamental man’s hands.
”Why haven’t you brought me that coffee I ordered?!”
But you just brought him a cup from the workers’ break room. It was even fresh, you had made sure of it. Sure enough, the steaming cup was still on his table where you had left it.
”I- it’s on the table before you sir…”
He went mad, his face turning red like beet and he took the mug in his hand and in a second you yelped and threw your hands over your head to protect yourself from flying cup of coffee that mashed against the wall right beside you.
”I ASKED YOU TO BRING ME A CUP OF COFFEE! BLACK! NOT THIS SHIT OUR EMPLOYEES DRINK WHEN THEY’RE LAZING AROUND!”
”I- I’m sorry mister Perry!” You whimpered as you knelt down to pick up the broken pieces of the cup. ”I’ll get you a new cup from a coffee shop! I’ll just clean these and go-!”
”Leave it there and go already! I’m not paying you for doing janitor’s job, I’m paying you for organizing my paperwork and getting me a cup of decent coffee!” he yelled at, waving his arm in the air for you to go. You didn’t need to be told twice.
You quickly scrambled out of the office to your own little one, grabbed your purse and ran out with your heels clicking against the hard floor. Other workers turned to look at you as you sprinted past their little cubes where they minded their own business. Getting between you and your usually meant being fired.
Only in elevator, you gave yourself a little moment to breath. Your job was seriously some bullshit, running errands like a dog and being yelled at like you didn’t matter at all. In such a big business you might have been replaceable, but you were the only one who knew to use some of the more advanced programs. You knew they knew that you knew, so instead of firing you they made your life as horrible as possible so you would quit and they wouldn’t have to pay to you.
All those years spent in college and this is what you get? A shared city condo with three roommates, lousy secretary’s job with minimum pay and horrible mean boss? Life sure knew how to fuck you up. Could it get any worse?
You didn’t stay to wait for the answer as the elevator binged and opened its doors for you. You made your way outside from corporation’s building and rushed to the busy city’s stream of humans. The closest Starbucks was just around the corner, you could make it there quickly, get that coffee and make it back in one piece. You might even be able to go home tonight without extra work to bring with you.
Those were your thoughts until you heard people screaming. Suddenly people everywhere around you were screaming and running away as you froze on your place. What was going on? Was it a terrorist attack or flood or earthquake or something?
A big blur of metal flashed right before your eyes and you could feel your blood turning cold. It could as well have been terrorists at this point. An evil giant robot that terrorized your city just flew past you until it collapsed on the hard cement. Cars screeched to stop around the giant robot, many colliding with it and with each other in the process.
”You’ll never take me alive Autobots!” the purple giant robot screeched and sat up. It took a quick look at the cars next to it, ignoring people that abandoned their cars they had a loan on. A brave move in your opinion. You bet no insurance would pay for property destroyed by a giant robot.
But when the bot started picking cars up and throwing them at something up ahead, you found out that it actually scared you. Your knees gave up in fear and you dropped on the ground and covered your head as if the robot would throw a car at you.
The cars flew through the air and the robot kept screaming at something until it suddenly stopped. You peeked carefully what was happening and the robot had run out of cars and there was a yellow tinier bot in front of it.
”Okay, Starscream! You got the right to remain silent and only silent! Nobody wants to hear what you got to say!” the yellow robot shouted and pointed his armed hands towards the larger bot. The purple robot raised its hands in the air, but its eyes never stopped analyzing its surroundings. That’s when they landed on you.
You made brief eye contact with the giant bot and a wicked smirk came to its face before it smirked at the yellow robot.
”Why don’t you eat laser!?” the purple robot yelled and pointed his arms towards the tinier bot and suddenly shot lasers at it! The tiny bot jumped away, dodging the deadly beams and that was all the bigger one needed to launch up and over to you.
You screamed as the giant claws wrapped around your frame and pulled you into the air and suddenly you were the only thing between the yellow bot, the giant green bot that had followed the yellow one and your captor the purple robot.
”Oh no!” the yellow bot shouted.
”Starscream, put that human down!” the green bot ordered your captor. Starscream laughed and gave you a small squeeze and you screamed as you feared that he might just squish you like a bug. Suddenly you felt so much sympathy towards those butterflies you used to capture when you were a small girl. Hopefully thought the robot would let you go just like you let the butterflies go.
”And why would I do that? I see that this puny fleshy is the only thing that keeps you two from taking me in!” he brought you up to his face and you stared at his gleaming red eyes. You assume the robot was he. Seeing the fear in your eyes must have been something he liked because he grinned like he had just realized the meaning of life.
”I actually may have the use for you… So I’ll just take you with me!” he gave a high pitched laugh and suddenly the world became a blur to you as he did something with his body. Suddenly you weren’t in a giant robot’s hand but tied on a jet plane’s red seat. You saw other robots through an orange-tinted glass before everything went blurry.
You couldn’t see or hear anything else than the robot’s obnoxious laughter. Then you realized it, you were flying through the air, who knows in what speed.
”Let me go! What do you want?!” you shouted and tried to struggle out of the seat belts wrapped around you.
”Silence you fool! You’re my ticket to the greatness and glory!” came the robot’s voice.
”How!? I’m just a human! Please, let me go! I can’t help you!”
”Not the way you’re now, you won’t…! But I got a plan!”
”I don’t care! Please, just let me go, I won’t tell anyone about this!”
”Ugh, your screaming is like dragging talons against ship’s plate!” as soon as he finished his words you felt your lungs squeeze painfully and you couldn’t breathe or move. It was like all air had disappeared in the plane. You silently gasped for air, coughing and bringing your hands to your throat, clawing your skin in a desperate attempt to breathe, but in vain. You could feel your skin giving up under your nails, but you still didn’t get any air.
”Quieter now that you got no air? Puny human! Your race can’t even live without something as simple as oxygen!” he laughed at you as your vision started to go black. You were scared to death, you might just die. As you started to lose your consciousness you could only think about that stupid cup of coffee…
Everything was pitch dark. You felt light as a feather. Maybe you were dead? If the death was eternal darkness like some people said then this would suck majorly. You would go mad in the eternal darkness. Hey, it’s as dark as that coffee your boss wanted. Black as his soul. What would you give for a chance to say what you think about him straight at his face?
”Wakey wakey fleshy! I need you to be awake for this!”
Scratch that, if you were hearing that robot’s voice you must be either in damnation or still alive.
You slowly forced your eyes open and then violently gasped for air. You could finally breathe again! Your lungs screamed in pain and you wheezed as the air filled your mouth. Your dry mouth, god, you needed a drink.
You tried to move, but something was holding you down. You looked down and saw leather straps all around your body, on your legs, on your arms and stomach. You were literally tied to a freaking table like someone was going to cut you open like one of those fishes in school!
”What the hell is this!? Oh my god, help! Help!” you screamed from the bottom of your hurt lungs and immediately started to struggle.
”Aaah, you’re awake finally! Perfect! I was going to start without you if you wouldn’t have woken up.” came the snake’s voice. You glanced at the side and saw your kidnapper’s back as he was doing something over there. You took a look around and saw that you were in some kind of an abandoned storage unit, big enough to hold in a ship.
”What are you doing? Let me go!” you shouted, your panicked voice echoing in storage.
”What I’m doing is an honor for your pathetic little race! You’re getting a chance to serve the future overlord of the Decepticons! Me!” he laughed, easily overpowering your smaller voice.
”Do you robots eat shrooms or something?! I can’t help you, I’m a human, not a machine!”
”I know and that’s unfortunate. Luckily I have prepared a small surprise for you while you were out.” he said and turned around to show you what he had in his hands. It was small some kind of a cage made with wrung metal strips and wired. It looked like an ancient torture device!
”What’s that? Oh god, what is that!?”
”It’s a helmet you little bug. I’m going to put it on your head so I can transfer your mind into that bot over there,” he said and pointed on the other way. You turned your head another way and saw another giant robot lying on the ground beside you.
This one was more feminine by its looks and curves. It had silver paint and black wires and joints tying its body parts together. There was a red symbol on its chest that stood out in middle of the old beaten silver, but you couldn’t recognize it.
”You like her? She was one of my earlier war trophies. Had to get her from the moon to get her down here.”
Wait, he said he’s going to transfer your mind into that bot?! It was obviously a dead pile of metal!
”What are you trying to do with this?! She’s obviously dead! You’re trying to move my mind into a dead body!”
”Aaah, you see, I can bring her back, but her spark has been offline so long that her processors have been wiped clean! Which I can tell is a good thing because she would offline me second she saw me. But with a new mind, I can control her and make her my right-hand man!”
”You’re crazy! That won’t work! This isn’t a Frankenstein monster! You’ll fry me!” you screamed from the bottom of your lungs in terror.
”Silence you insolent human! I’m a Cybertronian, a prime sign of the ultimate race in the whole universe! I know how to connect some wires and work with neuroscience!” he yelled at you as he made his way to you. You struggled and shook your head as he pushed the device on your head and strapped it on. Once the helmet was on your head the panic and the danger of the situation settled in.
”Please! Don’t do this! I’m begging you!” you were at that certain point of hysteria, you were so freaking scared.
”Don’t worry your little head! My plan is flawless! Once I activate this machine, electric current will take a perfect shot of your little processor’s basic instincts and implant them on her processor!”
You craned your neck upwards and saw a machine almost as big as the robot that took you. You had no idea where he had gotten it, but you bet it was built by him because it looked shitty.
The realization hit you. You weren’t going to get to shout at your roommates for leaving dishes unwashed again, you weren’t going to get fired by your asshole boss and you wouldn’t get to see if Ana Sofia Calderon and Xavi Castillo ever got back together in Telenovela! Screw the rest of those things, you had to see if they will give love a new chance!
”Trust me, this won’t work! We, humans, execute criminals like this! It’s disgusting and painful and oh my god please just let me go!” you cried in horror as you started struggling again, but the leather wasn’t giving up. The robot hummed something under his breath sounded much like ’Lord Starscream’ as he plugged the helmet’s wires into the machine. He pulled some cables out of the machine and-!
Oh god, he did not just snap that robot’s head open! Oh god, you had seen every Saw movie and not even flinched, but this stuff was going to haunt you until your death. Which was probably soon.
As soon as Starscream had plugged the robot into the machine he got up and made his way to you, hovering your immobile body as he grinned at you.
”You should feel honored. You’re going to become a member of the superior species. An honored member, but one still.” he said to you, before getting up and calmly walking to the machine.
”No, wait! Don’t do it! Please, don’t! I’m begging you! Please…!” Okay, at this point you had thrown your dignity away and you were crying like a crybaby. He ignored you in favor of pressing a button and whole machine whirred on, sending another wave of tears into your eyes, ”Please… Don’t…!”
”Don’t worry. This will only hurt you, not me,” he said and pulled a lever.
The pain struck you like alighting. It didn’t sting, it hurt like hell! Your head felt like it was pierced with hundreds of knives that had been heated in flames of hell! You weren’t sure if you were screaming or not, but if you were it probably sounded like a banshee had been let loose on a rock concert.
And then, the lights went dark and you felt nothing...

isak meeting evens friends cue shy , awkward easily embarrassed isak ❤️
really insecure isak meeting evens friends ( season 1 isak maybe?)
Sorry this one took me so long!! :P It turned out much longer than it was supposed to be, so I had to cut some because It wasn’t quite long enough to be a full length fic. Hope you like!
——————————————–
Isak used to be really fucking good at meeting people. You know what, fuck that- Isak is awesome at meeting people. He’s great; he’s charming and clever and he rolls awesome joints and can chug beer like no body’s business. He used to have half of the female student body in love with him before he- well before Even.So why the fuck is his heart pounding, palms sweating, knees fucking shaking, at meeting a couple of Even’s friends? Even has met his friends and Isak’s friends are fucking goons, so what the hell?(Isak knows the answer and Even would kick his ass if Isak told him the real reason Isak had put off meeting his friends for so long.)(You see, how does one explain to 3rd year super cool and suave bros that Isak has turned their best friend gay? That- hello, the reason Even has spent so little time in their company recently and so much time with Isak is because Isak has happily been warming his bed?)“You look like you’re about to pass out.” Jonas, who has graciously spent his afternoon getting high with Isak (HA, okay smoking while Isak has gone through three separate mental breakdowns regarding his relationship with Even and meeting Even’s friends), says as he inhales another hit, “do you want a hit to take the edge off?”Yes, Holy god did Isak want a hit.Isak shakes his head, “No thanks, bro. Even can’t smoke when he’s recovering from an episode and I told him I wouldn’t without him.”“You’re a fucking ace boyfriend.”And he is, isn’t he? He’s fucked up a couple times, sure, but who hasn’t? Even seems happy, content in a way he claims he hasn’t been in forever. “You know what, fuck this. I’m going to charm those fuckers so hard, they’re going to be asking Even where he got me when I’m done with them.”Jonas tips a beer in his direction. “Cheers, man.”
——————————————-
He’s panicking again. He’s at Even’s door, can hear Even laugh and he knows, knows that on the other side a group of Even’s friends both Bakkan and Nissen alike are in there. And it’s not like Isak has never met any of them before. He chilled with Eskil before (he’s Sonja’s friend if the pressure wasn’t enough) and then he’s said passing hello’s to the friend’s Even hangs around in class with. He’s not going into complete unknown territory. He uses his key to unlock the door, shouting out a quick “halla” as he slips off his coat and shoes.“Isak?” he hears Even call from the other room, “Halla baby!”Without meaning to, Isak flinches when he hears resounding laughter coming from the direction of Even’s room. They aren’t- Even wouldn’t let them make fun of him, right? He creeps around the corner and heads into Even’s room, where his boy and his boy’s friends are spread out on the ground and window sill all clutching beers and wearing grins. Even gets up from the ground when he spots Isak and ruffles his hair, slinging an arm around his waist.“Halla,” he whispers into Isak’s ear, “I’ve missed you.”“Hi,” he returns in a shaky murmer, eyes flitting nervously about the room. All in all, there were six boys cramped up in the various corners of the room- two of which he recognized from Nissen, one he did from the first time Even and he had hung out in the room, and three of which he had never seen before.Even’s grip on his waist tightens, “Hey guys, this is Isak. Isak, you’ve met Andreas and Harald” he points to the two Nissen boys, “And you’ve met Eskil before. That leaves Marius and Nils.” He pointed at the two blank faces, who both wave at him.Isak clears his throat and tries not to shrink when Nils- curly haired light blond- raises an eyebrow. “Halla.”Even reclaims his space on the floor and pulls Isak to sit next to him, “We were just talking about the new Star Wars Movie.”Yes, Isak mentally cheers, he and Even had gone a couple days of go. “Yeah I loved it, man. But I still think first one is the best.”Marius squawks, “The first one? Like the Phantom Menace?”Isak reels back in horror before he can become too self- conscious about it. “Uh- no. The first one, as in the first one made. New Hope- not the unnecessary prequels.”Marius seems placated. “Hey Isak- you’re a second year, right?” Andreas, who Isak is actually fairly certain he’s bought weed off before, starts. “You have Ms. Berg for Bio?”Isak nods hesitantly and must have made a face, because Andreas grins, “Yeah man, is she still not wearing a bra? I told Even about it, but he doesn’t believe me.”Isak mock shudders, looking up at Even with a horrified expression, “Whatever he’s told you is true. And it’s always fucking freezing in there- it’s just not a good sight.”Even opens his mouth to respond-“So Isak, are you full gay or half gay?”The room goes silent and Isak looks up to where the blonde from before, Nils, leaned back on his forearms, looking like he hadn’t a care in the world.“Fucking hell man,” Andreas says, throwing a sock from the laundry hamper to the right of him, “Warn a guy.”“I- what?” Isak stutters, face immediately heating up, “I don’t-““I mean like, Even’s dated chicks- Sonja for fucking ever- and he says you’ve hooked up with chicks before- so like are you gay, gay or bi?”“Hey Nils, man,” Even says, almost conversationally, but his eyes are laser beaming straight at his friend, “fuck off.”“I’m gay.” Isak says and it might just be the first time he’s said it without anything attached. No qualifier- nothing to detract from the statement. Even looks down at him with raised eyebrows.Nils just nods and the moment passes.“He’s cute,” Eskil says, nodding at Isak, “I knew there was something weird- well not weird, but like intense about you two when we met. Even liked you from then you know?”“Really?” Isak asks before furrowing his eyebrows and clearing his throat, “That’s cool. Do you have a girlfriend?”Eskil snorts, “You don’t have to be awkward around us. Nils is always a fuckhead- it’s not personal or anything.”“Good to uh- know.” Isak winces and thinks he’s said the wrong thing, but Nils just shrugs and throws him a beer.Maruis gestures to the lack of space between Even and Isak, “and we’re not like- homophobic or whatever. Everyone dabbles a little bit in gay stuff, right?”Nils and Andreas both turn to Marius with a raised eyebrow, both shaking their heads. Marius shrugs and takes another sip.“You remind me of my friend Magnus.” Isak says and Even nearly chokes on his beer.
