Regarding the last one, I’ve developed a coping strategy AU!

They blip out of That Dimension and end up in basically 21st century earth, so like right now.

They both get to be human-y again with some side effects I won’t yap about-

But I think it’s very funny, like it could go one of three ways

1. They go “fuck it we have a redo let’s just be happy” and live normal people lives (the universe doesn’t like Viktor so he gets all of the illness side effects without it being fatal🥰)

2. They pull the normal kind of “oh I’m gonna share all the stuff of the future (minus Hextech because that was an absolute nightmare) and help this society evolve quicker!!” type thing, keep being inventors but really famous and all that,

So they try to share their ideas and things from Their Universe and people just think they’re crazy asf. Like. Who are these old men yapping about why not to use glorified blue jolly ranchers? why do they go from agreeing to not agreeing in the timespan of Fergalicious back and forth? toxic yaoi real?? nobody knows. So they’re still inventors but and getting bi by but not as famous. People think they’re just odd.

I revised one of my older fics and, in doing so, pushed my "Scum Villain Stories" series over 1,500,000 words! That's the series that is just SVSSS fics, 28 of them now, no art collections or other fandoms.

It's been a little over 4 years now since starting, and it's funny to think that about 500,000 words of that was the first year, mostly PINTWILF. I had a lot more free time and drive then, I think! It's also funny to look back to when SVSSS was a more obscure series, with neither a donghua nor an official English translation, and I genuinely had no idea whether or not anyone would read a story mostly focused on a minor character within those less popular books and his friendship with an OC.

I do wonder sometimes how I've influenced fandom! I don't think that I have a Word of God Big Name Fan setup (I hope not, that sounds terrifying, I do not want to be on a pedestal), but after I've written so much that has been relatively popular, I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder how my personal interpretations and/or specific choices for certain AUs have helped (helped!!! not alone by any means!!!) to shape various fanon perceptions over the years, for better or worse. I've had a few people tell me that they've read SVSSS because of my fics, which is cool, or that they've read my fics but not SVSSS, which is also cool, though I hope any potential fic authors do check out the original books rather than rely solely on my characterizations in particular AUs.

When I first started writing for SVSSS, a lot of Shang Qinghua additional tags such as "Shang Qinghua centric" or "POV Shang Qinghua" didn't really officially exist yet, so I guess I feel part of an early wave of SQH-focused fics (there were others! Lots of them before me! It was not just me!) and that's neat. It's cool to think that I had so much fun playing in a sandbox that I might have convinced other people to climb in to have their own fun.

It's fun to see fandom posts like: "Finding an story you like and then discovering the author has a bunch of other fics just like it is like finding the Holy Grail." I kind of get to go: "Hey, that's me for some people! 😄♥️"

Truthfully, spelldrive isn’t your game of choice—it’s loud, and hot, and it’s so crowded you’re not sure if the sweat running down your arms is even yours. Not like it matters, though.

Spelldrive is Leona’s game of choice.

So you lean against the railing, starry eyes following after his dashing form as he zooms through the skies with his magic pen. There’s too much you don’t understand about the game but you scream anyway. You scream his name until your throat is scratched. You grip onto the railing so hard that your hands ache. You wear his old NRC jacket and beam with pride because Leona Kingscholar is playing one of the most important games of his life, and Leona Kingscholar is the most important person in yours. And you know he’ll win.

You tug on the collar and scream.

“Leona! I love you!”

He barely glances at you but you’re sure he heard you; he can pick out your voice from the cheering crowd. Just as you know him, he has every part of you memorized and engraved in his soul, as if you were the missing puzzle piece left to complete him.

“Can they make this goal? Erickson passes to Kingscholar and—”

You jump, almost off the railing, in your happiness you’d ignored the question of safety. Still, your heart is beating so fast as it bathes in adrenaline and dopamine. 

You’re barely able to calm down before you’re quite literally swept off your feet.

All of a sudden, your hair is whipping about in the air as you try to catch your breath; there’s a pair of gloved hands situated atop your abdomen, pulling you flush against a broad chest. The screams are drowned out by a familiar heart beating the same rhythm. “Herbivore,” his voice murmurs in your ear, “shall I take you as my prize?”

“Put me down!”

The smug lion beastman only half complies, seating you on the railing of the bleachers. When you’re just about to tell him off for almost killing you with an untimely heart attack, his lips are on yours (oh sevens he smells like sweat and tastes like adrenaline).

You could’ve sworn the screaming from the audience got louder, but you can no longer hear it or even spare the smallest bit of attention for anything other than the way Leona’s holding you. He’s kissing you like he’s never going to get the chance again.

When you pull away, there’s an intricately carved silver ring on your finger.

“Marry me.”

And if you almost fall to your death in a moment of shock, the entire thing caught on multiple cameras and gone viral on Magitube, uh, at least you’re a royal now…?

I came across this (without the last addition, I thought it was real art) in my archive again and once again started wondering why her lower legs are like that. It makes no sense with what the picture is supposed to express, so I thought: "Maybe this is supposed to express that she's not really human either but some kind of a ghost or something? But having the legs clip through each other like in a buggy video game is a weird way to express that, especially when what makes him threatening and inhuman is all the "evil" black stuff. It seems to mix two different visual languages - expressing inhumanity and threat by making him look demonic and her vaguely... body horror-y malfunctioning..?" When I originally reblogged it I eventually threw up my hands and thought: "Whatever, it looks cool at least! It doesn't have to make sense!"

So I checked the notes again. The "source link" is an Instagram post that is by now deleted and Hive Moderation seems to think the picture is "pretty likely" (65%) to be AI, though it isn't sure.

I guess the reason why the visual language is confusing might be that there's no artistic intention behind it. Although human artists can also not have their artistic language sorted out.

Btw, just in general, just because someone writes "oil on canvas" or something unfortunately doesn't mean it isn't AI. Sometimes people lie. I have seen very obviously AI pics titled something like "oil painting, now in a private collection". I think when I originally reblogged this I hadn't had that experience yet. Most AI scams who pass themselves off as artists are very low effort, but not all are.

I guess what tripped the AI up is stuff like this in Ferri's original art:

Her leg is weird too, but here it's in a sense that is immediately understandable. The picture is called "Apollo and Daphne". If you know Greek myth you know that Daphne is a nymph, so a nature spirit. The AI obviously can't understand that, it only sees Weird Shit going on with her leg.

Jason Todd & Cooking

I always go back and forth on how much I want to include "Jason loves to cook" in my writing because I'm not sure how much is canon and how much is fanon so can we open it up to discussion pretty please I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.

Here are my arguments:

Experience: Jason grew up poor and largely had to parent himself. So he must know a little bit of cooking, even if it's the bare basics that's only enough to keep him alive. It's plausible this taught him how to be creative and thrifty with meals because he had to make do with whatever he had, so we can assume that if you drop him in a kitchen with random ingredients, he can figure something out.

Knife skills: I've seen other authors (myself included) write him as good in the kitchen because he's efficient with a knife from being a vigilante. I don't have much to say on this, just that I think that's also a fair assumption considering he underwent training with the League of Assassins and became highly-skilled with wielding blades.

Love language: He's the kind of person who, due to his trauma, has difficulty opening up to people and trusting them (it's confirmed he cries during sex so this is an objective fact idc). When it comes to having a romantic partner, it might not be easy for him to express affection through words, so he relies on actions. If you like flowers, he buys you flowers. If you like a dish, he makes it for you. So yeah, this might not have concrete evidence in canon, but I'm gonna choose to believe that he would enjoy cooking for someone he loves.

Art hoe?: We know he appreciates good literature, so does that extend to other forms of creativity?

Hands: (I don't actually know how much of this is based in canon but whatever) He likes to work on his bike, he's meticulous with taking care of his guns & weapons, so it's safe to assume he likes working with his hands. So even if it's not something he loves to do as a "safe space" because of cherished memories with Alfred or anything, he might still enjoy it.

^^on that note, what do you think some of his 'safe spaces' are? Like I guess reading would be one, maybe working on his bike would be another? Idk, what does anyone else think. p.s. I'm using safe space to mean something that makes him feel happy and gives him a break from his demons yk

Also I did only make this as a defense for the "Jason Todd had a charcuterie board obsession phase" post sitting in my drafts because I BELIEVE he DID!!!!!!!!

UPDATE TIME BABY

so!! i’ve been making a lot of edits over the past few days after i noticed a few Issues so!!! i think it’d be a good idea to list them here? consider this an update to this weird little pseudo-mod i’ve accidentally created. plus there’s some extra art here (if you, uh, couldn’t guess from the sprite directly above me :3)

okay!! big news first!! thanks to @horatiocomehome, i finally have access to the actual game files! kinda. at least enough access to actually know what the files are named. so, i’ve renamed all of redraw files to be compatible with the game! this should make it way easier to mod them into the game. yipee! so sorry these weren’t correctly named before auauua

i finally made “official” spritesheets for my battle portrait redraws!! ttthese are not intended to replace @/thea2l112’s mod or anything, i just wanted to make ones that included my custom sprites! because i’m very proud of them. i don’t think the custom sprites should cause any issues, but just in case, i also included versions that exclude them! the only differences you’d actually see in normal gameplay are act5 siffrin’s buff sprite and act6 siffrin’s ko sprite (or lack thereof). you can find them in the portrait redraws folder, but i’ll also include them at the end of this post for ease of access 👍 also the fourth spritesheet doesn’t actually do anything in normal gameplay it’s just there so my custom bonnie and loop sprites have a place to go.

okay the changes here are a little less important so they’re going down here. anyways

added the afterimages(?) for the special attacks! i genuinely didn’t realize these were a thing until one of my partners actually put my cgs in the game. so those exist now!! yipee!!

predictably, isa and mira’s jackpot cgs having different aspect ratios did in fact cause issues. i put in a bandaid fix, but i still can’t actually test it out (and i don’t want to pester pastell about it) so, uh, maybe let me know if you encounter any problems with their placement??

so you might’ve noticed that there’s two copies of each of siffrin’s cgs during the final attack scene? that’s just how it is in the game files. i don’t know why. they’re identical in every way, just there to make sure things work properly 👍

made an alt version of the mal du pays death animation! nothing drastic, just cut out a hole to match the original. probably safer to use the one with the Hole for modding, i don’t know what the layering for the cg is in that scene. alas. sspeaking of death animations though!

so!!! there’s two new sprites for this little update thing!! i forgot to do siffrin’s unused battle portrait during my first batch of redraws, so i went ahead and made it! as you can see above! nothing too difficult, i just reused the lineart from my bigfrin sprite (since they use the same lineart ingame)

second of all!! act6 siffrin death animation :3. or well, i guess it could work in other contexts, but i intended it to be for the twohats fight. idk! thought it’d be fun! use it for whatever you desire

aaaand i think that’s it! again, sorry there were so many issues with this batch! i might’ve drawn these for use in mods and fangames or whatnot, but i really did not expect all the interest and support i’ve received??? at all?? it really means a lot!!! so i want to make this thing as Polished and Complete as i can!

HHHHAPPY ISATVERSARY EVERYONE. here’s redraws for every single battle cg in the game. 36 drawings this time around, with 11 of those being custom (though admittedly a good portion of those are edits). combined with the portrait redraws i made back in september, i’ve made 114 redraws for this project! jesus christ! just like those redraws, these are completely free to use!! as long as i’m credited and it’s not for commercial purposes, go wild!! do whatever you want!!!

no i didn’t make these for isat’s 1 year anniversary this is just wildly good timing.

i genuinely can’t fit all of these cgs in one post even with the 30 image limit on browser, but i’ll still try to fit Most of them below the cut (without making this post horrifically long), along with some notes that might be important 👍

okay! once again, i labeled all of the custom art as such in the drive(UPDATE. NNOT TRUE ANYMORE. reformatted file names to be easier to mod in auau. apologies!), but if you want a full list, the customs are hatless siffrin jackpot, bonnie jackpot, bonnie special attack, bigfrin attack, and a bunch of alts which are definitely not related to any projects i’ve been thinking about don’t worry about it. and out of those customs, only like. 3 of them are actually completely from scratch.

while i did my absolute best to keep the aspect ratios completely the same as the originals, there’s 3 exceptions that i just couldn’t get to work.

isabeau’s hair in his special attack cg wouldn’t fit in frame if i kept things completely accurate to the og, so i moved his cg down a bit. it shouldn’t cause any issues with modding or anything, it’ll just appear slightly lower than it does in game. alas…

isabeau’s sleeve and mirabelle’s hair made their jackpot sprites a little larger than the originals? i’m hoping this doesn’t have too much of an effect (since the jackpot sprites have inconsistent sizes) but i can’t test this myself unfortunately. aaa feel free to let me know on discord if any problems arise!!

i managed to fix these, so they aren’t going to cause problems now, but my original drawings for mirabelle and siffrin in the final attack scene were a pain in the ass to fix. mirabelle’s sprite was slightly too talk to fit in frame and siffrin’s hat whacked bonnie in the face while i was editing everyone together. i’m only mentioning this because it took like an hour and a half to fix them and finish the scene.

all that aside, these were a fucking BLAST to work on. apparently this ended up taking 57 hours over exactly 10 days. which is a little worrying if you do the math on that but somehow i have not burnt myself out. i will be doing enemies at some point!!! but probably not for a little bit. i think my friends will actually kill me if i don’t take a break.

once again, happy birthday isat. you’ve ruined my life and i wouldn’t have it any other way (silly).

also, on an actual serious note, this little timeloop game has genuinely changed my life for the better? you guys are probably sick of hearing it at this point (or maybe not, i don’t talk about myself That Much. i hope), but i was practically a ghost for about 2 years before joining this fandom. it’s a little surreal to suddenly have friends (plural!!!) and people who Care about me, or even know i exist, honestly. it’s weird!! in a good way!!!

i don’t think i would’ve ever come back to social media if this community wasn’t so welcoming. i’ve met a lot of really great people through this game!!! so, uh, thank you isat, i guess. here’s to another year.

Asking because of the previous ask, are you not a fan of Ethan anymore? If so, why?

It's complicated, I suppose (rant where i talk abt ethan but then also my OCs in general)

I really do not like the first version of Ethan I made like 3 years ago. Obviously I like indulging in devilish ideas but I don't know, it ended up turning into something I didn't really end up liking too much.

Then I revisited and sort of rewrote his story a bit a while back when making the OC archive site (I'm aware the site is not available anymore for the people who asked, I took it down myself) and was much happier with it for a while.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ethan, I know he's the OC people seem to like the most, but it's still like a personal mental battle of like maybe it's too effed up? Even when I draw characters going through unwilling/accidental extreme weight gain, I make them either ambivalent or accepting of their situation, but for Ethan it's kind of like torture, and I can't bring myself to get like..aroused and excited to draw more of that *personally*.

Changing up his lore wouldn't really work either since his story is based on helplessness and stuff, and it'd be disingenuous to make him be happy with his situation, so I've just sort of subconsciously decided to leave him as is and treat his content as its self contained story more than nsfw art to goon to, if that makes sense. I don't know, maybe I'm just thinking about it too much, but just wanted to say what goes through my head.

I also don't really revisit Ethan for the same reason I don't tend to draw much of all the past OCs I've made, as I see each of them as a way to explore different facets of how weight gain can manifest and adapt into a character's life to create a story around it, and I feel like I've covered most of the ground around them already.

All of my OCs come from a sudden short prompt that pops up in my head, usually out of nowhere. I suddenly wanted to make a big-hearted southern farm guy who was super massive and I immediately ran to draw Rudy, for example.

I draw them a little reference, with my typical bullet points next to them with basic info to get an idea of what their dynamic is like, and a more lengthily written backstory or description if I'm feeling fancy under it, and then for the next week or two it's all art of them and answering questions about them... and then another idea pops up, and a new OC comes in.

It's not that I get tired of them, but I just simply do not know what to draw with them. Ethan is the biggest outlier in this case, since he is my fattest OC and half immobile, you just don't really know how else to bring something new that's not him laying on his bed at a slightly different angle.

I guess that's why I always do OC asks, I sort of need them to be able to know what to draw with them, since I struggle coming with things like that by myself, and you know I always like avoiding drawing a character in a void with no context.

The Genshin Obesity AU is my longest running like "project"?? thing just because there is an endless amount of content I can pull from since there's all these characters, places and possibilities I can write from. My OCs are obviously much more self-contained and moreso serve as individual experiments to explore different people and scenarios, so after the 10th drawing of them... I genuinely do not know what else I can add to them.

I hope that was a bit insightful. I know most of you guys love Ethan, and I love him too! But I don't know, I guess this is why I don't tend to have immobile/near immobile OCs, since the potential art ideas for them drop to just them sitting on a mattress or sitting on the floor and I'm just left confused on what to do with them.

Maybe Ethan in his college days is something you guys might be interested in? Or I don't know, I'm just writing this post as my thoughts enter my head.

that ask was rude of me, i should've just blocked you instead of telling you about it, i'm sorry. i'm aroace and sex+romance repulsed, and i guess i thought alastor was gonna be something i could enjoy for once like everyone else gets to without feeling like i'm intruding on a conversation i have no right to be part of. i'm on ios so i can't use browser extensions to actually get rid of all the alastor ship posts like i want, and i'm not sure my problem even has a solution short of just giving up trying, because so far i have found exactly zero blogs that are 1.) still active at all, 2.) still post about Hazbin, 3.) aren't actually 12 years old, and 4.) don't post about fucking Alastor ships. i got so excited seeing such good, recent art i haven't nuked yet considering how old every other post i can still see is, and i'm not kidding when i say i sent that ask through tears. it was rude and unacceptable either way, and i'm sorry.

i've blocked over 200 different people and i'm not exaggerating that number even a little bit. i would rather put a gun to my head and pull the trigger myself than see them so much as breathe next to each other ever again. i am so. so so so so so sick of searching and searching and searching and finding nothing.

the thing i've learned from alastor's aroace representation is that not only is the world as a whole not made to accommodate me, fandom space isn't either. i am an alien on a planet i was never made to fit into, and i don't even get to escape that through fiction like everyone else does. no amount of filtering and blocking and searching will bring into existence a community for me that simply does not exist, and it is futile for me to try. that's what this fandom has taught me.

i think the chances of me sticking around in this fandom are slim, so at least it won't be an issue for anyone else anymore. i think being excluded from conversations about an aroace character sting a lot more than just not being represented at all to be honest.

Okay, listen.

First of all, Alastor is officially an Ace, NOT an aroace. That means he can still be interested in any romantic things or finding a couple. No one is stopping you from seeing him exclusively as an aroace. But shaming people who don't share your point of view is a bad idea.

Secondly, I am an aroace artist myself. Romantic and sexual themes are virtually non-existent in my art. I can joke about it, but almost all of my drawings explore completely different things. And you come to me and try to talk about how hard it is to feel socially comfortable being an aroace? I understand your worries, but, again, trying to shame other people because they don't share your point of view is NOT a healthy coping mechanism.

Third, I have done THREE drawings in all my time that include a romanticized Alastor. Two of them were collabs, and the third was asked to be drawn by people. And these three drawings made you give up on my art, which you said you really liked?

The community is too heavily oriented towards romantic and sexual themes, it's true. People like us are often uncomfortable in that environment, that's also true. But aroace people can't just come in and ban others from having fun just because we don't find that fun or interesting.

Man, I'm not even Alastor's artist! What the kind of Alastor shipper am I? And you picked me out of a thousand people to block? Oh my God, that's as funny as it is sad.

In case you haven't looked at my art, I am a Lucifer artist. I very rarely draw Alastor, simply because I don't find him interesting enough. And because of that, I find it so funny to be labeled an “Alastor shipper”

Any patreon tips for other creators? Getting a successful patreon feels so hard to do </3

it’s a lot of luck, in all honesty.

I guess for me specifically, i was nearly done with a 430 page comic before i launched mine. So that was like 6 years of posting comic pages and having people find my stuff over that span of time. I think there is no harm in jumping the gun and starting a patreon day one, but you will have less eyes on your work just due to the nature of creating. It will likely be slow growth, for a long while.

If i were making comics with the intent to get rich i would be miserable, because it is not a reliable income. I think you need to start with passion. I would be doing this with 0 readers. I DID do this with 0 readers. And with a lot of time, and an incredible amount of luck, i am able to do it full time rather than just after school/work.

and if you’re talking like, patreon perk stuff, backlogs seem to be the most effective thing. Like at least a 5 page buffer, and consistent posts. And people really seem to like getting wlb stickers in the mail. But i would recommend not doing too many things that give you extra work. I personally wouldnt offer like personalized monthly art / commissions as a patreon thing, because it would kill my wrist. And if you have a patreon for your comic, they likely want to see more comic stuff anyway.

Here's my Indus Valley Civilization Miku, which I drew and posted a while ago but I deleted the post bc I was self conscious... Well it's back!

Details under the cut

The Indus Valley Civilization was a Bronze Age civilization in what is now Pakistan, northwestern India and parts of Afghanistan. They were pioneers of hydraulic engineering it seems. It lasted from around 3300 BC to sometime in the 2nd millenium BC.

The people of the IVC didn't leave behind as much figurative art as their Sumerian and ancient Egyptian contemporaries, at least that I could find. Nevertheless I tried to make a design based on what I saw on the internet.

The clothes and hairstyle are based on figures like these, they're often labeled as Mother Goddess statues but I guess we don't really know what they're meant to be.

The pattern and colors of the skirt are based on the famous "Priest King" statue (the name might be a bit of misnomer since from what I read, the IVC is though to have been fairly egalitarian). There was an attempt to reconstruct what the original colors might have been, which you can see in the thumbnail of this video... which I only found after finishing the drawing orz

The jewelry is based on the ones in images like these. You can see the design I used for the earrings too, I don't think the one pictured is an earring... but I thought it would look cool...

Etched carnelian beads like these were really hot back then apparently... people in IVC cities traded a lot with Sumerians because the Sumerians were crazy for these. In fact if you look closely at my Sumerian Miku you can see one such bead... well, it's a bit compressed.

Anyways... the Indus script has never been deciphered, so the text in the image is gibberish... but I added this cool bull from a stamp! I think it adds to the picture.

Wow this post, what is even the point of it. I get having critiques with the art world etc etc, but man find something better to be mad about. Guess what, there are pretentious annoying people in every single profession in the world. I would find it far more pretentious and annoying to meet someone who did art but refused to call themselves an “artist” because they think that sounds cringe 😭

i think saying the world would be basically fine and whatever with absolutely no art demonstrates a “narrow and elitist idea of what art even is.”

Also all the notes are just people saying things like “i hate fanart” “i hate dadaism” “i hate discworld” like MAN you guys sound fun to be around and experience

The thing is that I do genuinely like a lot of art and I'm glad that it exists. So much of it enriches my life greatly and I'm glad to have it around, and even the stuff I don't like is often in some way connected to the stuff I do so whatever. But like, it's hardly the most important thing in the world. I wouldn't want to live without art (however you want to define it), but I very much still could. The world's a big place, and there's a lot that can be seen and done within it

Like so many artists have an incredibly inflated sense of self-importance which is pretty fucking obnoxious to listen to. It sounds so fucking stupid someone goes on about how art is what "makes us human" and other people treat that as something profound and meaningful, especially when half the time those people have a very narrow and elitist idea of what art even is. Like keep sharing that Hogfather quote about how people need fantasy ("Where the falling angel meets the rising ape") and this is gonna be me:
