i guess to put my post about the relationship between social media and art more simply, i don't see a huge ideological difference between someone saying "to be a successful artist you have to become a one-man optimized cross-platform content farm" and "watch my course on how to become an entrepreneur at 20". both result in you becoming the product for someone else's business. everyone shits on the puritan bootstraps work ethic unless art becomes involved, for some reason, in which case you're somehow not "supporting artists" by calling out the fact that almost no one successfully runs a business of any kind without some modicum of financial or staffing help. you're not a failure of an artist because you aren't capable of financially structuring an LLC, managing four different social media platforms, editing videos, running packages out for delivery, etc etc. you're human.

avoiding interaction with children/teens hurts them emotionally.
like, one time I saw a post on tumblr an artist made where they said a 16 year old wrote them a nice message telling them how much they love their art but because they were underage, the artist wouldnt interact or acknowledge them, not even to say thank you for receiving a compliment, which like, isnt that basic manners? why does the person being 16 render them unworthy of basic decency?
like, that's the thing, when adults refuse to interact with children for being children, their only takeaway is 'oh, i guess i'm worth nothing until i've existed X amount of years on this earth, i'm not even deserving of basic manners or decency' and is that really how you want to make underage people around you feel?
ostracizing children from your circles means that the second they meet any adult that does happen to consider them worthy of respect and basic interaction regardless of whether or not they have been alive for 18 years yet or not, they will flock to that adult like moth to flame, because, fun fact, kids and teenagers are people, and people want to feel appreciated and acknowledged and wanted by their surroundings, and this fact is unrelated to one's age, it's just human
and what will happen if the adult that kid flocked to happens to have ulterior motives? well, op already pointed it out
bad things
dangerous things
interact with teens, with kids, be friends with them, show them normal adult behavior so they can spot abnormal adult behavior if and when they come across it, and dont make them more vulnerable to being preyed upon by isolating and excommunicating them from the world and making them feel like shit
Saw a tiktok of a guy saying he doesn’t feel comfortable talking to minors because he’s 19. And it’s just. I’m so fucking tired of this.
And like to be clear, I’m speaking as a victim of pedophilia when I say: We need to get over this collective fear of endangering children. Because holy shit, this stuff is getting out of hand.
The average person is not a threat to a child.
And also!!! It is actually really really good for kids to have friendships with adults that aren’t their family.
Having friendships with adults when you’re younger prepares you for adult life in a better way then only interacting with adults that are family members or teacher as well.
And also if there’s any sort of weird behavior happening with adults or teachers, it’s very helpful to have unrelated adults, you can go to, and also have a model for what normal adults are supposed to look like.
And also! You’re just making it way easier for pedophiles to prey on children when you completely avoid interacting with them as an adult. Because kids are naturally inquisitive and curious. They are going to want to interact with adults and they are going to want to ask questions. And if the only adult adults that are willing to interact and speak with them or adults who have ulterior motivations. Guess what’s gonna happen.
Also on a more general note. Having a model for what a normal healthy adult is supposed to look like makes it way easier for kids to be able to recognize and identify when adults in their personal life are being weird.

Okay, kind of out there, but I was reading over @angstenthusiast Wild Kratts AU list, saw the Story of Evil AU, and this was suddenly made, so.
I do have my own Wld Kratts AU in the works at the moment, but I am only on season 3, so I'm planning on watching the seasons before I do any heavy work on that AU, so yeah!

🫵 It’s 2025 and this blog reposted art without a source and the source? A tumblr post. Can funny meme blogs do better. They also seem to have deleted the post only after getting called out for being an art thief but didn’t matter because the post already had tons of notes. Didn’t even edit the post with credit. Guess this means this account will willingly post uncredited art because it’s funny and delete it if someone calls them out for it. Either saw it on Pinterest/FB/Etc or saw the tumblr post and decided to repost instead.
Source:
Also the repost account shares ads that aren’t disclosed as such. Here and here.

Odys TLC Adventure Vol.2: Father Son Bonding
Soo I’ve decided to put my two shared headcanons (stealing clothes and curly hair), as well as some others that are not yet disclosed, together and make some art about it. Therefore I created this little father son bonding gem:
Basically Telemachus is definitely wearing something of his father’s because that blue robe would normally be the whole piece of clothing but instead, he uses it as a wrap, a belt and a small coat. :D Ody is definitely enamored with this and just happy to share time with his son. This is also post Ody teaching his son how to take care of his hair. I have also hidden 4 little details in this artwork, if anyone wants to find them i guess you can. :D 🩵
As always: Please leave some feedback if you have it, I am still learning how to use digital art software and am not very good at all of the functions yet. :’ )
Also to already answer some questions: If anyone wants to write fanfiction or anything of the kind, you are of course allowed to, just please notify, tag and credit me so I can pay my respect and appreciation. :D 🩵
Suggestions on what to draw next can be put into the ask function on my blog. ^^

fizz pre + post infection (and some lore!!)
obviously since hes a plague walker i wanted to make another ref including what he looked like pre infection!! and also i wanna spill some lore about him because in MY opinion i cooked.
so basically his deal is that his whole entire life hes only been seen as this scrawny little thing that wont amount to anything. and one day he gets so tired of this that he just snaps and is like “fuck it i guess ill do plague walking”
the thing is he has this drive to prove himself. to be like i CAN do something. i can BE someone. im not some little pathetic creature like you think i am. (the fact that he grows taller as a result of infection does not help this btw)
also he wears his goggles because he thinks (KNOWS…) nobody will take him seriously if he doesnt. and that would be bad. because hes found much success in plague walking!!
i keep seeing ppl be like “omg hes so cute!!” and im like YES THATS MY INTENTION. YESSS PLAY INTO HIS TURMOIL PLEASE.
i figured since im so good with cute things that i can ONLY draw cute things, i was like. what if i made a guy who was small and cute. so much so to the point nobody thought highly of him. so he spends the REST of his life chasing some sort of approval by trying his DAMNDEST to change the only part of him that anyone has ever known him by. and even HE knows he can never truly get past the fact that he will always be cutesy to some degree. so he tries to prove himself BEYOND his appearance…
which he ALSO knows that he can NEVER DO BECAUSE THE STANDARD HES LOOKING FOR IS UNATTAINABLE. GOOD ENOUGH IS NOT TRULY GOOD ENOUGH IF YOU DONT ATTEMPT TO BE BETTER.. IF YOU DONT MAKE IT PAST BETTER WERE YOU EVEN GOOD AT ALL? that line of thinking is basically him at his core.
this is me rn:
oh yeah i dont think i mentioned before but i DID make him to ship him with jawbone. and yes i will still be doing that.. why do u think i made him a plague walker.. will i post the eventual art? maybe. big maybe. but thats all thank u for reading
#idk if anyone needs to hear this but pls dont feel bad for thinking hes cute. i think so too. i MADE him cute.#thats just the point of his character. he fails over and over again to reach something impossible.#monkey wrench#monkey wrench oc#doodles#my art.#my ocs#oc doodles#oc lore#fizz is a self insert like eddie is. however he embodies the more angry grouchy self-loathing asshole side of myself#whereas eddie is more of the friendly anxiety-ridden dorky side of myself that id consider to be more ‘me’#but they are 2 sides to the same coin. because they both reflect me in some way#SORRY ABOUT THE ANGST BTW. PINTEREST RECOMMENDED ME A BUNCH OF WHUMP PROMPTS FOR SOME REASON#AND SO IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT GLOOM AND DOOM

i'm not a fandom artist of any kind except Furry i guess and i always feel weird about posting fan art because it feels like an intrusion almost? Especially when it comes to warriors, its always been something i drew and its very nostalgic for me but i also draw other things and i keep feeling like i whiplash people
#rambles#I know i should draw for myself i already do#its just that i don't feel particularly “welcome” in any fandom space

You know I think a lot of things about Tsukasa Tenma make more sense if you view him through the lens that he has ADHD and probably was unmedicated until after the main story. Bro quite literally had the forgetting disease.
That’s not to say all of what happened in main story is just because he might have ADHD, but I think it definitely added to it though.
I also think looking at his aggressiveness and impulsiveness from early on especially makes a lot of sense with this interpretation. Which is kinda interesting because whenever I see people hc characters with ADHD they forget that those are very real clinical signs of it.
I don’t think about Tsukasa’s head space a lot because I think it’s pretty self explanatory to me and I’ve grown so tired of mischaracterization that I just don’t bother or else I’ll be reminded of it and get mad. Also that he’s fallen down on my tierlist of characters even though I still love him a lot. Plus I mostly keep to myself in prsk spaces other than posting art because they are exhausting to be in.
Anyways I guess this is the unofficial sequel to “there’s no way Rui isn’t autistic” for the Tsukasa fans out there.

some more LU things that throw me for a loop,,
An artist I follow, wilimia, started a LU dnd AU, and then mentioned wanting to make it it's own thing. Shortly after, they received an ask,
"I'd be down for un lu-ing the dnd boys cause I got lu blocked ad hate how it affects most links meet aus, so yeah. If you do that I'd reach non lu audience. Most loz fandom doesn't follow lu blogs"
and idk, I get it, but it's also hard to read. So much of Wilimia's art is LU. It seems like something they found, and still do, find joy in creating for--and for years, too--longer than I've been in the fandom. "Most loz fandom doesn't follow lu blogs." Most loz fandom wouldn't have any interest in the majority of the art Wilimia's shared? Anon would prefer it to be non-lu? It reads to me a little like putting down or dismissing the art just because it's LU. Wilimia's art is amazing. I admire it so much. Their ideas are wonderful, too. And like many other pieces of LU fanart, there's a lot of exploration of comparing and contrasting the games, or analyzing the games, borrowing the LU cast, without explicit connection to the events of the comic itself. So much incredible creativity missed, because it is LU. LU's not for everyone. To each their own, I guess.
But I feel like so much interesting insight into the games is lost if LU fanwork is disregarded simply for being LU.
I also struggle with feeling like I have to choose an audience. I have ideas for pre-LU comics that would tell stories of fun moments from the games, during an adventure--but I want to use the LU heroes because I care more for those interpretations of Link. I'm blending my own game experience and opinion of that Link with what's been provided by the fandom.
I think the stories are fun and worth sharing! However, what tag do I use? It's the Linked Universe design and character, but it's also me, but it's also not Linksmeet or the LU adventure, really. It's LU, it's not LU, it's gen loz, it's both. And yet you'd get scolded for posting LU in the gen loz tags. I feel as though I must choose a side.
For example: there's a moment in OoS where a woman asks you to help her in exchange for a shovel. I got the shovel and then immediately dug up the entire map chunk surrounding her house. It would make for a good comic! But do I make it LU inspired or gen loz? I'd probably use a slightly more generic design for Link (Legend) anyways because he would be younger. Honestly, I could probably get away with barely changing the design at all, tag it as gen loz, and be praised for it.
There's a huge double standard when it comes to LU and Linksmeets. Both argue that not everyone has played all the games. All the interpretations and designs are unique and, at times, should be read as their own aus without worrying too much about adherence to the game or specific comic canon. Characterization and knowledge varies by writer. At the same time, no one person owns specific design elements or traits. Don't worry too much about being too similar. Let people make what they want. Every new instance adds to the wider understanding of the character and is therefore valuable.
Yet, by the people who dislike LU and its fandom and favor other Linksmeets, in LU fandom it's seen as an excuse, and in Linksmeets and gen loz it's seen as a strength.
The character of my comic could barely be LU Legend, and yet if it is LU even in name only, it is disregarded and unwelcome. The character could draw strong influence from Jojo's designs or LU fandom, and if I change one thing only but claim it as my own, it would be praised and defended.
Analysis and discussion in the LU fandom (especially from around 2020) brought me a better appreciation and understanding of the heroes and game similarities then any other kind of online fan created material had.
So for my mini comic- and going off of the anon's ask- what do I do?
I want my work to be seen. I feel like it is valuable to be seen by anyone who enjoys the games. I want to inspire people who see the comic to think more about the games and to create. I don't particularly care through what lense they connect with my gen loz / nebulously LU work--if they apply the situation to their own game experience, gen loz, or to any Linksmeet--if my work has connected with someone- has broadened someone's understanding of a game or character- then my goal has been met. Obviously use the correct tags and credit where credit it due, but if I am making pre-adventure or gen loz stuff, then I want to inspire. Write fic! Add the headcanon to your own! Just like- if you make something based off an idea of mine, include me! We are all building off of each other's stories. It is all inspiration. It's all the same soup.
There is no Linksmeet element. And yet, in my heart, I know the character will become some personal variation of LU Legend, influenced by a variety of fanwork, because that's the interpretation I favor.
If it's tagged gen loz it reaches the broader loz and Linksmeets audiences. If it's tagged LU then it stays within the sub fandom I know and care for. The thing is--it's a pre-adventure story, so it's not solidly one or the other. I don't want to tag it gen loz and have LU fans feel they aren't allowed to think of it as LU Legend. I don't want to tag it as LU and have it be missed by so many people, or have gen loz / linksmeet fans feel they aren't allowed to think to think of it as their own characters either. However, also, why should I be creating for an audience who would disregard so much of my and other's works?
Mina of Mina's Linkverse's recent posts have thrown me for a loop again. She's shared a headcanon post about Twilight Princess Link that delves into how Link, given his background in Ordon, might feel about turning into a wolf. What struggles, but also acceptance and joy, can be found in it. It's beautiful. I'd love to add it as another perspective into my understanding of TP Link--both solely within the game context and also more broadly across a variety of Linksmeets. It's one more way to further appreciate things I already enjoy. However, Mina opened the post with "Dont tag as L/U". Okay, don't tag, but am I allowed to borrow this and apply it to LU Twilight? I relate to it most strongly through that lense. It's a general loz post, and LU is loz. What if I were to apply it to Mina's Fangs, or Em's Wolf, or Frulle's Twilight? If I were to write a LU fic or draw a comic and tagged Mina as inspiration would she take offense? Would it be less of an offense if it was anything but?
Am I as a LU fan allowed to take inspiration from this and put it into LU fanwork? What about LU fanwork that goes more strongly into exploring these themes or situations from the games instead of the comic itself?
It just feels kind of feels like a whole perspective or group is being excluded. I feel like I am being excluded and that I am unwelcome. But, maybe that's just me being an entitled LU fan who thinks everything belongs to them and needs to learn to stay in their lane.
I've considered making multiple versions of the same comic. One that uses the LU design and tag, and one that does not, so that I'm able to reach and be appreciated by both audiences. But, I don't want to have to choose. There would be no difference in the comic but character design and name. And yet, that's all the means necessary to be completely disregarded.

Hi!! First of all, I'm a BIG fan of yours and I love your work! My question is, do you still have your first reference sheet or your first design ideas for Aurora? Or maybe the names you have thought to give her? I'd love to know more about our girl!
Thank you so very much! I really appreciate that 🥰
A long time ago I posted a compilation of Aurora's designs throughout the years. She started out pink, then she was purple, then powder blue, then back to pink haha.
I'll give you the full rundown of Aurora's history but it's not all sunshine and rainbows, so buckle up!
When I very first started drawing her, her personality and background were COMPLETELY different. She was more of a reflection of all the shit I was going through at the time and she was my coping mechanism (🎶childhood trauma🎶). She was from a mechanoid, dystopian future and she was orphaned at a young age, so she was a very jaded character. She ended up traveling back in time and actually getting to meet Sonic and Amy (during the time we see them in the games), but she was really bitter and resentful towards them. I only have this one scan of a drawing from that era, I lost everything else:
I really do not know when this was drawn, but based on the art style and trying to recall what my living situation was like at the time, I am guessing this was probably around 2001.
Then between 2004-2006, things in my life started to drastically change again and so I don’t know, I guess I decided to reevaluate things? I don’t remember a lot from this time —again, childhood trauma—so I don’t remember exactly what sparked the change. But I think I was like "Wait a minute, Sonic and Amy and Aurora don't deserve this. I’ve been making this all about me. Let me try again." So then I rebuilt Aurora the proper way, thinking about what traits she’d inherit from her parents and the way they would raise her, and thinking about just how fun a family the three of them would be (because the ideals of “fun” and “adventure” are so important to both Sonic and Amy so of course they would make for a fun family). So that’s where her personality and relationship with Sonic and Amy became what you know it as today.
I fell out of the Sonic phase for awhile and was focused on other interests for several years, and then around 2014 I came back to Aurora and that’s where I ended up with her current design. Even then I was experimenting with her interests and motivations, and this is when I gave her the power of light. It just seemed to really suit her and I thought both Sonic and Amy are just such pure sources of light and love that it made sense for it to physically manifest as a power in her.
The one thing that's never changed was her name. She was always named Aurora, even from the very beginning.
I know this was a LOT of personal info about my own life, but my history played a huge part in the initial concept of Aurora which is so insanely different from the Aurora you all know, so that’s why I figured I’d explain.

AI is theft.
Character.Ai still uses **stolen** data. Support real artists and writers. RP with real people.
IAMREALpleasegimmeahotchocotugmeinandgimmeasinglegoodreasontoliiiveeeeaaaaAAAAAAA
*Breakdown joins the chat*
An anon? How courageous of you. /lh
Actually right now you did what many chatbot users do— hide behind Persona just in case people don't accept your writing/rp style. But it's easier to play safe, I give you that. Your mental health should be your first priority no matter what people say
I do my art, write snippets of text, develop OCs and RP with people, but still make chatbots on different platforms
Why?
For shits and giggles
But no, friends, seriously
We already live with that and apparently are gonna continue to, unless the authorities decide to step in
For me cai was a tool to improve my vocabulary since 1) not so many native speakers were willing/had time to help, 2) even if they did, we had jobs and damn timezones which made our coordination harder, 3) I found out that ppl were simply too shy to play
Recently I've learned the term "Cringe culture" which is cringe itself and hella annoying at that— some writers are fucking scared to post, to be met with toxicity instead of actually useful critique
Anywho, the topic is controversial af.
On one hand, it did writers dirty. Well, fuck. On the other hand, your T9 was also trained on something and I deem LLM no much smarter than a huge T9 [a predictive text technology which almost every keyboard for phones and tablets has]
The problem I see is that the ai developers didn't ask for any data
How much easier everything would go if they had manners and/or paid for some materials? I usually don't mind lending a pen if someone asks, but can bite one's hand off if they grab it
As you might've noticed, I wanna use this ask to bring up some other interesting topics
My man, I've heard enough of "Why trying if ai renders better than me/uses better words"
Anxiety.
That's what makes me sad
If we ever manage to change that, to make people realise that human-made art is a freaking precious treasure with hours of effort spent on it, maybe earth heals and unicorns return
You buy funny one-nickel-worth stuff from Aliexpress, no? That's AI. As well as a half-gnawled pencil one finds in their old school backpack to write down an anecdote they've just heard
It's easy to focus on the bad side
If fish is ill in a dirty tank, are you gonna add more sand? Pfftt. I assume you gonna change filters, scrub that bastard clean and add more lil fishies to make others feel less lonely, instead of rumbling that you shouldn't have gotten any new weeds for the the bowl in the first place, because, who would've guessed, fish eat that. And poop. —a process natural as breathing
My suggestion is that we try to create a safe space which would encourage writing outside of roleplay, make young artists feel safe regardless of their level of skill
Or maybe I'm too far from the Internet in general and don't understand why writing example messages for a silly toy is suddenly a bad thing when it encourages kids to try themselves in text RPGs without any risk of being judged for that
An interesting topic you gave me, really, I've spent some time contemplating about it
Feel free to suggest things that we, as a community, can do right here and right now, because, gods know, I'm personally unable to atta-ta a corporation for "using language we all speak", especially when chatbots have some features which would be a damn shame not to use in language learning since it's so engaging and teaches kids new words in a forgiving game-like way
Though I hope there will be some law regulating ai and the use of ai-made products soon. Let's give it some time

I don’t mind it, I just wonder why all the squid game content and stuff goes on the blog that’s called “questions about blorbos.” Just because I would have put that on a separate one. (My own blogs are organized into “art by me,” “original text posts by me,” “whump,” “content about that original story I’m writing” and “stuff I reblog, including everything from all my side blogs” <which is my main blog)
I understand. people have their own ways of running and organizing things on social media and that’s cool. I also have other blogs that focus specifically on other topics. though squid game has been a great source of comfort for me, especially season 2, so I’m not ashamed of sharing that love on all of my blogs / platforms.
I guess a simpler way to say it is “you can run and organize your blogs however you want. I can run and organize my blogs however I want. we dont have to run and organize our blogs the same way as long as we respect each other”

what’s your opinion on fanfiction re: your posts about reading?
Like to get back into reading books? I guess I don't have an opinion because if it works then it works. But if you're just reading fanfiction all the time, I do think it's important as an adult to challenge yourself and read books and news articles. Reading is further education, it should be fun and non-punishing for the most part, but also as an adult you should understand the value of reading something new and horizon widening. Like that should be something fun for a healthy adult. My general opinion on fan fiction is that yes of course there are going to be stellar writers making fantastic art in fanfiction, but the grand grand majority of it are people repackaging assets from properties into troupes they enjoy, and that has diminishing returns even if the prose is good (if it even is). You're never going to read a thoroughly researched treatise of socio-economic politics on AO3 and you should probably try to read something like that every once in a while lol

January 2025 Update & 2024 Supporter Thank You
Hi everyone! December is over so it's time not just for the January update and thank you post, but also to thank everybody who supported Escher Girls in 2024!
This month has no major external site updates, but we have updated the site internal software which should hopefully fix some errors. We've also fixed the formatting in the way the site displays gifs and videos in previews in the tags, so there shouldn't be giant white spaces between each post.
This month I didn't have a lot of time to fix up old posts because I've been jumping from appointment to appointment for the health thing I mentioned before. But I was able to fix up a few posts.
Specifically, I restored this post of Kevin Nash's short-lived comic book, a panel of Gamora's butt sucking in her thong and also her entire body I guess?, this cover of Shanna: The She-Devil in a boobs and butt pose, Nikki Doyle being turned into a snake by a snake, and two really good fan-art/redraws of Nikki Doyle, one by Keskerist, and another by JustTheMiles. I also fixed up and sourced the Samurai Champloo bomb-boobs video from a very old post.
All restored/fixed posts have working images, videos, and animated gifs (a lot were broken or deleted by either Tumblr or during the move to the new site), and have added image descriptions for screenreaders, sources, and link to the corresponding cross-post on Tumblr and vice versa (except for the cases where Tumblr removed the post entirely either because the submitter deleted their blog/submission, or Tumblr's algorithm mistakenly tagged something as nudity, usually a solid coloured bodysuit, in those cases I've tried to find an archived version to link to). For very old Tumblr posts that don't allow image captions, I've linked the images to the image hosted on EscherGirls.com which does have image captions.
And now I want to give a big thank you to Escher Girls' Patreon subscribers for all of 2024 regardless of when you subscribed or for how long. I really appreciate all the help people give me to help keep the site up, pay for hosting and domain costs (which keep going up due to inflation v_v), and allow us to keep the site updated.
So thank you so so much to the following people for being 2024 Patreon subscribers:

And also special thank yous to JohnnyBob8 and PJ Evans for their donations through Ko-Fi in 2024!
And also a huge thank you to everybody in general who reads, submits, reblogs, comments, and otherwise interacts with the blog! Escher Girls' audience is truly great and I love seeing all of your responses to my posts and your captions!
Also, if anybody is on Fedi and wants to talk to me, I'm at https://urusai.social/@ami_angelwings.
Thank you so much and see you next month!

PS: As a reminder, we added a button that links to the Escher Girls Tumblr and to our RSS feed for those who want to follow that way. (For newbies, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is basically a feed you can read using an RSS reader. Simply copy and paste https://eschergirls.com/rss.xml into an RSS reader and it will keep you up to date on Escher Girls!)
Make sure it is eschergirls.com and not eschergirls.tumblr.com, as that is Tumblr, and not the self-hosted site.
If you have any issues with the site or suggestions to improve it, please do not hesitate to contact me and let me know!
If you wish to support Escher Girls, you can subscribe to our Patreon at: https://www.patreon.com/ami_angelwings or donate through Ko-Fi at: https://ko-fi.com/amiangelwings.
