The Warp Effect Ep 10 Stray Thoughts

With GMMTV dominating my watch calendar, it's actually becoming a bit difficult to recall everything that happened in a previous episode.

Last time, we tackled sexual health with Jedi and Rose, who had to contend with an HPV flare up in their open relationship. Over the course of the episode we questioned the nature of fidelity and safety, and learned that they likely were infected over ten years ago from other partners as the two revealed that they actually don't want their relationship to be open. Meanwhile, Nim discussed keeping the baby with Army, and also reconciled her relationship with Mollie. Elsewhere, Kim recognized that she didn't want to keep the baby at this time, and Ice spent the episode coming to terms with that and supporting his partner. Kat is back in the saddle, but Tony is a gentleman and is waiting for Jean. Alex and Jean may be on the path to speaking again.

As always, so much happens in this show.

Establishing that Tony has been a decent dude was a good move, because we expect him to not force an encounter on Jean after she panics. The Frank/Drake show. Apparently, the production is bad but some people still enjoy the story and pairing. I watched episode 1 part 1 and 2 before but got sidetracked, so here's to finishing it now.

Episode 1 (August 1)

Okay interesting episode despite it being badly made. It's like... raw in a way other shows aren't. It's not polished but that also means we get to see the pimples and pores in the characters' faces, we get to see Mork and his family actually doing their job (not some random ambassador who goes abroad) and living in their barbershop apartment. It's very teenage boy-ish with the porn and the jizz, as well; neither character is shy about it. Also I'm curious about the family dynamics, they seem so freaking chill with each other.

The series continues to have a ton of shortcomings in the technical department but something about it is still so raw as if these are real high school boys. The way they talk about sex or innuendos without shyness and with lots of cheekiness and teasing but also they don't have experience with dating or sex and so are awkward with what's going on is endearing and seems real

August 08: Okay I'm making the executive decision... to drop this lol Momentous because this is the first BL I'm dropping I think? but I'll put it On Hold in MDL just in case. I stopped at Episode 5, which is when they’ve gotten together and it’s all happy, so I’m not like curious at all about what happens next lol. The show had really different and raw depictions of teenage boys that we don't tend to see in BLs and I enjoyed that aspect but the technical aspects are so bad + since I'm kind of going through a BL slump, that combined with the fact that I've been busy with schoolwork means I haven't gotten attached to the show since I'm watching at a snail's pace.

lol phuwin in the earlier days, during futs era, definitely was calling pond phi most of the time. i don’t know how they were in private but almost always he refers to pond as phi. i think maybe sometime in 2022, he just stopped refer to pond as phi almost altogether. now thinking about it, can’t remember the last he actually refers to pond as phi. maybe i have bad memories lol

Never Let Me Go Ep 2 Stray Thoughts

I've been so busy today, so we are once again reacting to Jojo shows late at night. Really enjoyed the first episode, and excited to see the themes about family and legacy play out across class with this one.

I really like coming from the recap where Neungdiao asks Palm to be his friend to the reality that he is the help and must eat in the kitchen. Palm doesn't even recognize some of the dishes because they just aren't accessible to him.

Interesting how the adults are the ones primarily invested in this hierarchy. Neung has to order Palm to eat with him, only for Palm to be scolded before he can try anything. Now, Palm has to ride a bus when his charge is in a car. It just all seems extra.

I am unreasonably excited about Perth getting to play with Pond.

I wonder how much Chopper knows about Palm already, and what his role is in these schemes.

I love Chimon so much. He's got his own take on earnest that works for me.

Does Chopper already have an interest in Ben?

I much prefer this play on the Phuwin-Pond dynamic compared to FUTS.

Nat and Perth is an ace combination. Both of them are so expressive with small movements. The differences in their demeanors elegantly establishes Khit's resentment and Chopper's revulsion.

Neungdiao knows how to play his mom to get what he wants. Interesting that he replies upon social manipulation to reach his ends.

Gosh that was good. Chopper has such an awkward crush on Ben, but has grown apart from him. I like the setup for jealousy from Chopper to potentially put him at odds with Neung.
