It’s really funny to me how often I see people bemoaning the “short series” (10 episodes) thing with streaming.
Like…I grew up on British and Aus tv. Aside from soaps, tv shows are rarely longer than 10 eps a series 😂
I personally much prefer a short series with a contained story and fleshed out characters than 24 episodes of largely standalone stories with small connections and details that often get forgotten seasons later. Often (not always) I find this format of TV has LESS overall character development for the sake of longevity
#which isn’t to say I haven’t enjoyed them#just…so much easier to fall out of love with shows like that for me#i agree that streaming has drastically changed the way we interact with media#because bingeing instead of weekly takes away all that anticipation and theorising and…the shit that half of fandom is built on#BUT a good show will draw people into its depths regardless#and I feel like the bigger issue is there’s TOO MUCH and a lot of it is fairly average#when we had limited choice we made do#but it’s so easy to move on to the next thing when you finish bingeing an average show#anyway not half my unintended essay is in the tags oops bye
