in the spirit of ‘spending all my money on animals’, I think the chicken coop is due for an upgrade, and this looks appealing!

there’s an avian flu outbreak right now, and currently sparrows (a possible disease vector) can fit through the bars of my run and eat the spilled chicken food. this custom-built coop + run would solve that, as there’s no gap small enough to fit through, and it continues into the ground a bit to discourage the digging of rats or raccoons.

#I actually had a custom coop from these people built on my parent’s countryside property before I even got chickens #because I wanted a safe place to rehome my birds if I ever got ratted out by a neighbour 😂#toronto animal services gives you a small fine and a couple weeks to rehome the birds if you're caught #so even though my birds are illegal they're not in any danger. if they ever can't live with me they can just live with my parents #in the coop I paid for #BUT LONG STORY SHORT that means I've had the chance to see these people work before and am very impressed with the quality #last time I spent my book advance on the coop so this time I'll have to sell some pins #but I definitely think its a good idea for the longterm! gotta keep my ladies healthy #now I just gotta figure out the logistics. I think I can drop the chickens off with my parents for a week and dismantle the current coop #but the ground is currently a swamp. so we need to wait for the weather to change & the ground to de-mud-ify
