Circles; Harry Styles Pt. 2
“Remember Frankie? From World History? She has a baby now,” you remarked, voice like lyrics over the rhythm of your white tennis shoes and Harry’s leather boots stepping in time on the concrete bike path.
Leaves occasionally fell, crunching under your feet, sticks and stones on the path being kicked or broken away. The fall wind blew gently, waving strands of your air in front of your face. You had decided against lipgloss, luckily because your hair was so unruly. Harry’s curls, a beautiful feature of his which you always admired, were flopping with each step. You found your eyes trailing from his cheek to his hair consistently, simply admiring. He didn’t catch on much, his own focus glancing between you and the ground beneath his feet.
Lunch had been wonderful. He took to you the local pub, where you sat in the corner, knees bumping against each other after every movement. You shared a basket of fries, ate your own sandwiches and drinks. You caught up on everything: Your studies in London, who your friends were these days, the last boy who broke your heart. He told you about Louis and Niall, and only a little of Liam and Zayn. He explained the sketchiness of his management, the stress of touring, but his excitement on stage. You admitted to have listened to his two albums the night before and told him Little Thins became a quick favorite. You told him about your plan to move to New York when you finished University in order to delve into the world of international journalism.
After lunch, you didn’t want to leave one another, lingering in front of the door, still chatting, when you remembered the local bike trails. (“Gosh, I haven’t been there in forever.” “Same here.”)
So, now, you were strolling along, hands in pockets and elbows bumping somewhat. He replied to your comment about a forgotten classmate with, “God, its strange to think about people we know having children. Were only 19.”
You shrugged, “That’s normal around here, I guess. People settle down straight away, let go of their dreams for simpler, easier things.”
“I could’ve done that,” Harry spoke with a whispery tone. “Sometimes I wish I would’ve.”
You didn’t want to poke and prod at a comment that could turn into something bigger and moved on. “You’ve got money. Be happy.” Of course, this was a joke.
Harry laughed, “Money cant buy happiness.”
“Oh, I’m sure it could buy mine.” He glanced at you inquisitively. “Well, Im constantly stressed in London because of work and school. Its stressful and exhausting paying for my apartment and class and food and life.”
Harry frowned somewhat, “That’s part of the reason I hate it sometimes. I’m so lucky and undeserving of all I get just because I can sing and I’m attractive. You work so hard for what you have and you still struggle. It’s unfair.”
You retrieved your hand from your pocket and pushed him lightly, “I’m just confused as to who said you were attractive.”
He blushed deeply, his eyes downcast and shy. Suddenly he met your eyes and shrugged his shoulders. “You did say I was cute.”
Your own cheeks quickly turned red. “I’m gonna avoid my problems.” Your pace quickened and you began to walk away from Harry.
He giggled, emitting a grin on your face, and walked fast. Harry reached out and grabbed you around the waste, spinning you around in his arms. You caught yourself on his shoulders, feeling his warm breath combat the cold on your cheeks. He grinned cheekily down at you, eyebrows raised.
“I didn’t lie,” you unashamedly spoke. “Ive always thought you were cute. Hell, the only reason I came to the bakery so much was because of you.”
“What about the muffins?” He mused.
“Harry, a girl gets sick of eating muffins every single Saturday for 2 years in a row.”
He chuckled, squeezing your waist gently. But, then, his eyes fell slightly, his lips molding into a frown. His grip loosened and he almost stepped back. But, he didn’t. “Do you wanna go on a date tomorrow? With me?”
“I’d really like it if you could get Niall’s number for me, but I guess you’ll do,” you whipped your head around in exclamation.
He scoffed, laughing loudly, before pulling you against his chest. You just stood there, hugging each other lightly, though you were shivering in the breeze. Soon after, he walked you home and even kissed your cheek prior to leaving. You giddily walked up to your bedroom, bare of much decoration because of your schooling situation. You closed the door and leant against like a heartsick teenager. You felt the same way you did two years ago, head over innocent heels for some stupid boy. You didn’t know if this would work, given your future career and his present one. You didn’t know what his favorite color was, but he did telll you his favorite way to drink tea. You didn’t know who his childhood cartoon crush was, but you knew that when he looked at you, your stomach was in flames.
You didn’t know what you would regret in the future, as no one does. So you decided to jump.
-
Harry had definitely gone on Pinterest.
When you opened your door (only knowing he would be arriving at the time he did because you spent the entire afternoon, night, and morning texting one another) you immediately smelled the sweet fragrance of men’s cologne. It was nice, slightly overwhelming, but nice nonetheless. He held a bouquet of red roses, your favorite because you told him you were a fan of cliches. He wore a jade green button-up, short-sleeve dress shirt. It was obviously new, given away by the fact that there were creases in his sleeves. (His favorite color was ocean blue, by the way, and yours was the color of his shirt.) In his other hand was a picnic basket, which he held up to you after he handed off the roses.
“It’s freezing outside, Harry,” you giggled whilst motioning him to step inside. He did, following you into the kitchen.
You set the roses up in a vase as he replied, “I know. But its okay because I have a really nice idea.”
“Okay, I trust you,” you spoke reassuringly. You turned towards him from your spot by the counter.
Harry’s eyes trailed over your figure, clad in a long-sleeve, ocean blue wrap top tucked into a pair of blue jeans which stopped just above your black ankle boots. Gold jewelry dangled above the neckline and from your ears, your hair tied up in a low messy bun which took too much effort. “You look lovely, by the way.”
“You, too,” you grinned, meeting his eyes. “Guess we both thought of impressing one another.”
“I went to three different stores to find this,” he spoke as you began to lead him back to the front door.
“Uh, me, too. Don’t act so special,” you grabbed your coat off the rack and slipped your arms through it. Harry laughed.
You bid farewell to your parents, who were watching television in the living room. They gushed over Harry, about to ask him a million questions when you said, “Dinner reservations, sorry, got to go!”
You grabbed his hand and pulled him out the door. You didn’t let go, and neither did he, but he had to in order to open your door. You hadn’t expected this and hesitantly slid into the passenger seat. “Thanks.” You told him once he started the car.
After a few moments of adjustable, comfortable silence, you piped up again, “So, where exactly are we going?”
“You’ll see.”
You arrived to a park two towns over after half an hour. It was massive, with lookout spots all over the hills. He parked in one with the trunk of his mum’s car facing out over the countryside. He opened your door for you, again, and led you to the back of the car.
“Okay, Ted Bundy,” you giggled lightly, walking ahead of him.
“Oh, please, I dont want to kill you,” he scoffed, popping the trunk. “At least not until the nights over.”
“Why not?” You held his eyes, not yet looking to the trunk.
He shrugged, “Because I have to get a goodnight kiss first.”
He left you stunned, cheeks red and eyes wide. Harry sat down in the trunk, leaning back against the pillows and blankets decorating the small space. You grinned at him, as he was awaiting your reaction. He leant a hand and helped you settle next to him. You both crossed your legs in order for him to set the picnic basket down. He shut the trunk, the heater cranked up and the radio playing.
“Were wasting so much gas,” you laughed, shedding your coat.
Harry took it from you, folded it, and set it on the folded down back seats. He took off his own, “Dont worry about it. I’m rich, remember?”
You tossed your head back with a loud laugh. The hours flew by from there on: He had made finger sandwiches, which you ate with liberation, and homemade lemonade packaged in a thermos. His mother helped him melt chocolate and cover strawberries in it. He had even made a mini cake at the bakery and packaged it all nicely for you two to share. You talked about everything you hadn’t already discussed: Music, books, television, his supporting act on tour, your favorite professors. You told him about your dumb job waitressing, about the lady who had tipped you one-hundred euros.
Once you were done, you helped him pack up the trash. He set the picnic basket in the front seat before shutting off the car. The sunroof was closed, but the stars were visible through it. He laid down on the blankets, head smushing the pillows. You sat there for a moment, feeling slightly awkward, before he motioned for you to lay down, too.
You cleared your throat, face hot and body stiff, before doing so. There were barely a few inches between you, but Harry made sure there were none. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and tugged you into him. You took the liberation to lean your head on his chest and lay your arm across his stomach. No words were exchanged, but they didn’t need to be. Everything that you could learn had probably already been said: Deeper stories, moments, could be exchanged later. A bond was now established and you already knew what was coming.
For now, you could only enjoy the moments that he was here: His hand in yours when he drove you home; hand in yours as you led him to the front door; lazily smiling down at you; a gentle, comforting hug; his eyes flickering between yours, your lips; his breath fanning closer until he stole his goodnight kiss.
“Guess you can kill me now.”

BEST FICS OF 2017 picked by notchopsuey manips | other recs | rec page
#1. Runaway Land. 103k. Louis is sure he’s stumbled upon a secret, underground nightclub, though that is far from the truth. He’s also pretty sure he’s stumbled upon Apollo, which… isn’t very far from the truth, actually. Modern Greek mythology AU. #2. You Might Want to Marry My Husband. 24k. When Harry’s husband dies, he asks one thing of him; to find love and happiness again without him. It’s a request that Harry is happy to disregard, until he meets the one person who is impossible to ignore. #3. Love's Truest Language. 48k. The first part was meant as a joke. He didn't really expect Harry to buy anything. It was just Louis’ way of softening the ‘get the fuck out’ blow. “Where's your order forms, then?” “I don't want your flowers.” Louis chided before directing all of his attention to the arrangement in front of him. Harry laughed under his breath as he stood to his full height, “Who said anything about them being for you, love?”
#4. got the sunshine on my shoulders. 124k. five years ago, harry styles left his tiny home town to make it big as a recording artist. he didn't have much regard for what he left behind - a life, a family, and a husband, who woke up one morning to find him gone. now, harry has everything he could possibly want: he's rich, famous, and adored by everyone he meets, including his boyfriend. but when said boyfriend proposes to him, he's forced to face the uncomfortable facts of his past - and louis, who's spent the last five years returning every set of divorce papers harry sent him. (or, an au based on the movie sweet home alabama.)
#5. Be with me so happily. 42k. Harry Styles may have had his doubts at first, but by the time the gates to the elephant sanctuary came into view he was one hundred percent positive. Louis Tomlinson hated his guts. Like hated, hated. Like loathed-him-on-sight hated. From what Harry could tell, he hadn’t even done anything close to insulting enough to warrant the disdain that was Louis Tomlinson’s default expression whenever he looked at Harry. It really wasn’t fair. Especially since he’d been lusting after the man from the second he’d laid eyes on that pretty, pretty face with those pretty, pretty eyes. Or ... the one where Harry Styles has a bad reputation and a heart of gold, and Louis Tomlinson wishes he wasn't so enchanted by boys who looked like Disney characters and wore shirts with bumble bees on them. [aka Louis is the director of the Styles Elephant Sanctuary and really doesn't want to babysit his funder's spoiled lay-about son for two months] #6. rivers 'til i reach you. 29k. Louis can’t begin to understand how he’s always this close and still can’t manage to make Harry his. He stands up and gets another beer. AU. Louis studies astronomy; Harry studies Louis. They spend their summers on the water and it shouldn't be complicated (spoiler: it is). #7. Fall At My Door. 29k. A-list actor Harry Styles and award-winning musician Louis Tomlinson have an acquaintances-with-benefits relationship, so whenever their busy professional lives happen to land them in the same city, they meet up. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. And that’s all it is. Until it isn’t. #8. When We Were Younger. 76k. About a week after Harry started visiting this particular chat room, he was watching some kid argue with the whole room about football, personally disinterested as he tipped a bag of crisps into his mouth. He happily chomped on the crumbs, taking a swig from a glass of Ribena to wash them down, glancing at the screen and very nearly spat the squash back out again. His heart was pounding wildly. The display icon of the argumentative newcomer had caught his eye, and not in a good way. He gulped as he clicked the picture, and when it popped up in full resolution, his heart nearly fell right out of his arse. - Sixteen year old Harry Styles’ world turns upside down when he logs on to gay teen chat to discover somebody has stolen his photos and used them as their own. #9. the wonderlands. 150k. "Somewhere between chaos and control — these are the wonderlands." Harry's daughter, Andy, is signed to Louis' girl band. Her path to success is marked by competition, chaos, and for Harry, a love affair. #10. Paint Me In A Million Dreams. 110k. Harry's one of Hollywood's biggest actors, has made a name for himself in prestigious films and lives the life of a superstar. There's just one thing missing to make it picture-perfect, but the one Harry's in love with is completely out of reach for him. Enter Louis, one of Hollywood's biggest actors himself, who just came out of the closet and taps new genres in the industry. When Louis sacks the role Harry auditioned for in Scorsese's next big film, their irrational feud starts. Who could have guessed it would get even worse when for promo season, their teams decide to present them as a couple for publicity? In short, Harry's in love with someone and doesn't care about dating anyone else, Louis never felt home in L.A., Liam writes love songs for someone he shouldn't write love songs to, and Niall makes everything better with good food. #11. Divide (series). 45k. Four AUs inspired by Ed Sheeran’s album “Divide”. #12. Brooklyn Saw Me. 28k. In the cold and unforgiving city of New York, Louis doesn't have a home and Harry wants to give him one. But as their heartstrings become increasingly intertwined, and the snow continues to fall, home is getting harder and harder to find. #13. Walk That Mile. 141k. Harry stares at him, the line of his jaw standing out scarily. “I wanted to get the most out of this trip so I planned it carefully.” His voice is low and steady and somehow that’s worse than when he was yelling. “So far, you’ve put your sticky fingers on everything I’ve tried to do.” “Sticky fingers?” Louis repeats, offended. “Are you saying it’s my fault you got stung by a bee? Had you been alone you would have gotten halfway to the Dotty Diner and ran the car off the road because of an allergic reaction, so don’t go blaming me.” “Polk-A-Dot Drive In,” Harry spits before getting out of the car. He slams the door shut with a deafening reverb and Louis rolls his eyes. - A Route 66 AU where falling in love was never part of the plan. #14. Never Let Me Go. 55k. “Harry! I’ll tell you what,” Louis exclaims, clapping his hands together. There’s a big grin on his face. “If both of us are still single by your thirtieth birthday, we’ll marry each other.” Harry’s head snaps up, eyes widening. “What?” Harry and Louis have been friends forever, but they couldn't be more different. One night, with a little too much alcohol, they make a pact to marry in ten years if they're both still single. Now, one month before the deadline, Louis is willing to do whatever it takes to avoid ending up with his best friend. But is he, really? | Loosely inspired by The 10 Year Plan #15. Do Not Go Gentle. 70k. “This is all a game to you, isn’t it? Well, it’s not for me. This is a real life or death situation,” Louis says, spitting the words at him. “And I just don’t think you’re cut out for it.” For a moment, they stare at each other in complete silence. Harry can feel his blood thrumming between his ears, can see Louis glaring at him, feels red-hot anger. And then all he feels, oppressively and desperately, is lust. Suddenly Louis is surging up to him to press his lips against Harry’s. Harry walks the two of them backwards, pressing Louis back against the door. Louis oomphs in surprise and brings his hands under Harry’s scrub top, scratching at his lower back. “Lock — oh — lock the… fucking door,” Louis mutters. When Harry Styles starts his first day as a surgical intern, he expects a lot of things: to treat patients, to observe a surgery, to feel a bit overwhelmed. What he definitely doesn't expect, however, is that the handsome guy he kicked out of his bed this morning is also an intern. A Grey’s Anatomy AU where tensions are high, Harry and Louis are hooking up in secret, and no one has time for love. Or do they? #16. Staring Across the Room. 26k. Harry Styles has a great life. He’s a children’s librarian at the New York Public Library, he’s got wonderful friends, and he loves cooking, green tea, yoga, and his collection of bow ties. He doesn’t mind that his life seems a little structured, maybe even a little boring. But when Louis Tomlinson joins the library staff as the new Installation Coordinator, things become a lot less predictable. Louis gets under his skin right from the start, bossing Harry around, making noise during story time, and eating the last cupcake in the staff lounge. Louis may be almost offensively attractive, but Harry will not be succumbing to Louis Tomlinson’s charms, even if the rest of the library staff have. #17. Take Me Back to Where We Started. 27k. Harry and Louis haven't spoken since they broke up four years ago. As boarding school sweethearts they once spent every waking moment together, but now they can hardly stand to be in the same room. When their five year class reunion comes around, both boys decide against their better judgement to return and (hopefully) have a good time. The only problem is, they're both still hopelessly in love. Starring Harry as the petty ex, Louis as the new James Bond, Niall as a boy genius and fake boyfriend extraordinaire, and Liam and Zayn as two friends just trying to make it out of this weekend alive. #18. Safe and Sound (You'll Always Be). 58k. When a failed case and a guilty conscience leaves Harry more than a little lost, his boss presents him with a new, less taxing assignment to help him cope. An escape from all the madness is just what Harry needs to get his life back on track. It's just too bad his new client has a grin like the devil, a pair of electric eyes that Harry simply can't get over, and no intention whatsoever of letting him catch a break. #19. never mind the odds (i'm gonna try my luck). 59k. Louis Tomlinson is going to be the journalistic voice of his generation. He’s just waiting for his editor to realize it. For now, he’s stuck writing fluff pieces for the Life and Style section of London Now Newspaper. His latest assignment is more of the same rubbish: a profile of Harry Styles, plastic surgeon and one of London’s most eligible bachelors. Louis is intent on writing something smart and biting and unexpected; if it makes Harry look like an idiot, that’s just the price of good journalism. That is, until Louis gets to know Harry and realizes he might be kind of perfect. Featuring Louis as a writer/workaholic, Harry as a plastic surgeon with a heart of gold, Zayn and Niall as Louis’ colleagues and long-suffering best mates, and Liam as everyone’s favorite pediatric surgeon and Harry’s right-hand man. #20. Then We Talk Slow. 20k. The picture showed Harry smiling widely (with a fucking dimple) at the camera, his glossy brown curls situated artfully around his shoulders. Louis couldn’t see his whole outfit, but it seemed to consist of a pink, floral button-up with most of the buttons undone. Louis could also detect the dark outlines of tattoos on his chest, although he couldn’t quite make out what they were underneath the shirt. What he could make out was that his own heartrate seemed to have picked up significantly. Shit. This was so not good. Not only had Louis drunkenly sent messages in a deliberate attempt to interact with this man, he was now insanely attracted to him without ever having met him in person. Maybe Liam was right – drunk tweeting really was a horrible, rotten idea. A famous/non-famous AU in which Louis banters back and forth with his new record company on Twitter, only to find out that Harry is the man behind the tweets.

Bold Profits Daily November 29, 2019
Paul Mampilly: It’s Paul on the Iancast again. I’m hijacking this permanently.
Ian Dyer: Fine with me. We have good discussions.
Paul: With Market Talk I’m always trying to keep it tight down to three to five minutes. I have a lot of competition between Hudson and Amber. On this one, we’re going to do it long. How about that? Ian: Sounds good.
Paul: Let’s start with dramatic news. You and I never sleep. I know you were up watching Bitcoin hit $6,500.
Ian: The whole time, yes. It bounced. The Bakkt futures we talked about last week, the expiration date came into play there. Bitcoin fell to below $7,000, then it bounced and went a little lower.
Again, around these expiration dates in the futures, all these new Bitcoins are being sent out from the actual futures company to all the investors. It creates an immediate supply that can have an effect on price.
Paul: Long term, I don’t know anybody who would ever want to be short those futures. You’d have to deliver something of a fixed quantity. I remember seeing analysis that something like 30-40% of Bitcoin are being HODLed. Hold on for dear life, that’s what HODL means.
The crypto world has its own language. We have HODL. We have FUD.
Ian: That’s fear, uncertainty and doubt, right?
Paul: Time to lambo for time to move. So 40% of all Bitcoin approximately is being HODLed. I read analysis on The Block, which is a website where they do crypto analysis, that hedge funds are short Bitcoin. This sounds crazy to me.
Ian: Me too. There’s a lot of questions around it. When you look at all these hedge fund managers that are into traditional investments like 60% stock and 40% bonds. Bitcoin doesn’t fit anywhere in there and they don’t know what to do with it. They don’t’ think it will ever overtake gold as a safe haven asset.
There’s a lot of naysayers out there still which is surprising considering it’s survived for 10 years now — almost 11 — and it started out as a fraction of a penny and has grown into a $150 billion asset class all on its own with no promotion other than word of mouth. It’s amazing what it has done so far. It’s an alternative currency.
Paul: Exactly. Both Ian and I are on the record of seeing Bitcoin at much higher numbers. Ian has a $50,000 by end of 2020. Is that right?
Ian: Yes, $50,000 next year and somewhere around $100,000 in 2021.
Paul: I think that’s conservative. I think we might hit $100,000 maybe even by the end of 2020. Here’s why. To me, Bitcoin is the first exponential asset. It runs off a digital mechanism rather than a lineal mechanism which is the stock market, the bond market. In other words, it requires human intervention.
If you think about gold, you have to go dig it out of the ground. There’s a whole process. Bitcoin is completely digital. There’s no physical element to it. It can exponentially grow and it’s already done that. This is why it has so much skepticism because there’s never been an exponential asset in history — this is asset number one. It’s going to be the most valuable.
Ian: There’s never been something like these halving events in any asset before. When the supply is limited by this much on one specific day, that day has a lot of say in the future of Bitcoin. We’ve seen that because after the past few halving events, there’s a gigantic rally by thousands of percent after the supply is cut.
Paul: I went back and modeled the Litecoin halving event to Bitcoin. For sure, it’s setting up to be a minimum of $25,000 to $30,000 the way it models. Most of the people who believe in Bitcoin largely never bat an eye at the volatility. It’s the disbelievers who come to really give us a lot of grief about it.
Ian and I believe in Bitcoin. We think Bitcoin is going to the moon. Everyone can make their own judgment. There is that one indicator that we both track. We should tell people about it.
Ian: A company called Grayscale has their own Bitcoin trust. They own a lot of Bitcoin and sell it as a fraction on the stock market. You can buy shares of the trust backed by Bitcoin. It’s a way of buying Bitcoin on the stock market, which is really interesting and not a lot of people know it exists.
We’ve seen all these headlines and rumors of a Bitcoin ETF, but there already is one and it doesn’t get that much press. It gives us a good indicator because when there’s a lot of bullish or bearish sentiment on Bitcoin you will see the premium of this ETF start to go up or down. Right now it’s trading about 27% above the price of Bitcoin.
The stock market is giving Bitcoin a premium even though it fell 50% in just a few months. That’s a really bullish indicator to me. It’s been as low as 10% and then it bounced from there. Now, like I said, it’s up almost 30% and people are paying a lot more for Bitcoin in the stock market because as of right now more people have stock accounts than crypto accounts.
Paul: It’s a pain to get a crypto account. I have a coin-based account and you probably have one as well, but most people don’t want to deal with that. I can tell you from tracking the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, at the peak in 2017 the premium was something like 130-140%. Ian: It was more than double.
Paul: At the low about this time last year I believe the premium was something like 3-4%. Right now it’s nowhere near as pessimistic as it was back then so there’s no reason to expect the premium to be as low. I don’t believe it has traded at a discount any time recently.
All signs point to Bitcoin going higher sooner rather than later. I feel like we can leave that one right there and move to the next one. I think we should name the Iancast, “Tesla, Bitcoin and Pot.” Ian: That’s what we talk about. It’s the fastest growing things out there.
Paul: It’s also what most millennials like to trade and are invested in. When I did a Tesla, Bitcoin and pot video for my Tuesday Bold Profits, I got 30 comments. I don’t think I’ve ever received 30 comments on anything before. That’s where people are at.
So let’s deal with Tesla. Cybertruck.
Ian: Yea. Cybertruck. Just to start off, Tesla has never had an advertisement before. They’ve never spent on marketing. It’s crazy the publicity this stuff is getting. Literally everybody was talking about the Cybertruck over the weekend. We both pre-ordered one.
I personally love it. I know a lot of people are really skeptical of the design. I think it’s going to grow on people. It’s a steel truck that’s supposedly bulletproof, although the window did break during the promo.
If you throw a steel ball at any other car window it’s going to go right through the car window. Bulletproof glass breaks. It doesn’t shatter but it breaks like that.
Paul: I follow Elon’s tweets. It turns out, when they hit the sledgehammer against the Cybertruck it cracked the window. That’s why when they threw the ball, it shattered the window. Elon said what they should have done is first throw the ball and then hit the Cybertruck with a sledgehammer.
Then the demo would have worked out fine. But, you know, that’s how it is in life. I think they got $100 million worth of free publicity as a result of the windows breaking because everybody felt like they had to show it.
Ian: Yes. And they have more than 200,000 orders already in the first few days for this truck. Paul: I feel like the truck makers depend on trucks and SUVs. Between the Model Y coming out and now with this, it’s really time. Those companies are going to struggle. Maybe some of the others will end up being a competitor, but for now there’s no competition of any kind for Tesla.
Ian: It even blows the gas-powered pickup trucks out of the water. I drive a pretty good truck and the Tesla can tow more, carry more, has a bigger truck bed and it faster. It’s a super powerful truck. I’ve heard a lot of people say it doesn’t appeal to the kind of market that drives pickup trucks.
They want more power. What doesn’t appeal? I guess the design? I think it will grow on people and I don’t see it as a reason not to buy it.
Paul: My reaction was pretty much what everyone else’s was. I didn’t stay up for the launch, but I woke up and looked at it and then I thought, “Whoa, that’s different.” Then about a minute later I thought, “I really like it.” Then five minutes later I thought, “I need to order one.”
Ian: Same here. I woke up and saw it and thought, “That’s weird. That’s actually what it looks like?” But then it grew on me. It’s going to take time. It’s what everyone imagined future cars would look like 20 years ago and now it’s finally here. I think it’s going to grow on people. It’s kind of iconic.
Paul: I’m watching the reaction on Twitter and people are having a slightly slower version of what we went through. It came out and now they think it’s kind of cool. I think this might be as fast selling as the Model 3. People say it’s only a $100 deposit and it doesn’t mean anything. But 200,000 is a lot of people.
Ian: Even if 90% of them cancel that’s more than $1 billion they’re getting from this already. Paul: You looked this up before we got on. What’s the short position in Tesla?
Ian: It’s down. It was just 25% a few weeks ago. It’s down to 16% now.
Paul: I have to tell you, in my entire 25 years of being on Wall Street I have never known a company as large as Tesla carry such a large short position. This is insane.
Ian: They’re different. Different doesn’t appeal on Wall Street. Everyone wants to think the same way, be safe, not get fired for liking some company that everyone else hates.
Paul: They talk about Tesla stock owners and car owners being a cult, but the people who hate Tesla are also a cult.
Ian: Pretty much. They do have a lot of haters — millions.
Paul: They do. I always keep my Sentry Mode on when I drive my car because I don’t want to run across someone who wants to do something to my car. We like Tesla at Bold Profits. You can also see we had a Tesla at our last franchise meeting and it was a super big hit. Amber gunned it and she loved it. We’re trying to persuade everyone to get one.
We’ve done Bitcoin, we’ve done Tesla, what about pot? I was on last week and the stocks all sold off. Then, boom.
Ian: They’re back. It’s going to be a ride, for sure. That’s how bottoms are. It goes up and down fast. Some of these stocks in the pot sector doubled from their bottom and went up 100% in a couple days. You don’t see that when there’s not some big buyer looming in the background.
There’s going to be buying in these stocks. They are bottoming out right now and they’re going to come back up. It’s going to be great. The market is so bearish on these stocks right now because they’ve gone down so much for months. It’s the classic selloff we’ve seen where the end is the worst part. It’s like that with anything in the stock market.
Paul: This is so true, Ian. You are absolutely right. Most people — I’m included in this, I’ve never had perfect timing — start buying probably a month too early. Then they underestimate how much that last drop is going to be. That’s where they get shaken out and they sell.
It’s also where they get emotionally blown out. They are not going to come back. Then they end up missing it.
Ian: They are the ones who push it up at the end toward the bubble phase.
Paul: That’s right. Then they come at the end and signal the very top. I’m going to guess just by the sharpness of the move in the ETF MJ, Canopy, Cronos and Aurora, that there’s a combination of short covering as well as actual long buying going on.
Ian: Yes. Some of these went up 100% in a couple days and a lot of them went up at least 40% in the first initial bounce.
Paul: In my experience, when you have the sharp, off-the-bottom jump of 40-50% it means there’s actually a big buyer. A strong hands buyer that is going to own and is signaling they are going to buy more. This is why market makers keep lifting the price up to find sellers who are willing to sell.
In my experience that’s a good sign. We’re bullish on pot and we have it across a ton of our services. Did you end up putting on that trade for the pot company?
Ian: We did. In Rebound Profit Trader we have a pot trade. We’re probably going to do another one very soon. We’re bullish on that. In Rebound Profit Trader the goal is to get stocks at the bottom and buy call options on them, which go up faster than the stock. You can make hundreds of percent in just a few days by doing that if you time it right.
Here at the bottom of the pot crash we think it’s a really good time to buy calls on these beaten down pot companies.
Paul: We were chatting before on Slack and you said we had eight 60% winners in Rebound Profit Trader? I forget the numbers.
Ian: We’ve had 10 winners in the past month.
Paul: 40%, 60%, something in that range?
Ian: Yes, a lot of them are more than 40%. Biotech has been very strong. We just closed our fourth biotech gain of more than 50% — all four have come within the past week. It’s been a good run. Biotech is looking like a good place to be too.
In our other options service — Rapid Profit Trader — we just closed a biotech gain of about 45%. We only held it for three days. You can make money really fast when you’re in the right place in the market.
Paul: They say biotech is the poor man’s lottery. It’s been true. I have traded a ton of biotech in my life because you can have incredible, fast gains. You put options on top of that and we’re talking about a 12-engine rocket that can zoom up instantly. 45% in three days is just wow.
If you’re interested in any of Ian’s services, he runs two phenomenal options services: Rebound Profit Trader and Rapid Profit Trader. They have slightly different strategies but they have a common goal to make you money really fast. Check into the description below.
A little market update. What are we seeing?
Ian: We’re recording this Monday. Today the market is making all-time highs. I saw the ETF we track for biotech — XBI — is up 4% today. Biotech is still moving higher. S&P 500 is making all-time highs. The Russell 2000, which is the small- and mid-cap stocks is breaking out. It’s at a 52-week high as well.
It’s looking really good right now. It’s looking really good to close the year out.
Paul: Remember, the way we look at the world 52-week highs are important because it shows confidence, it shows people are pushing money in and they’re willing to pay higher prices for it.

Most Income Investors Are Picking Up Nickels in Front of a Steamroller
Income investing is hard.
Let’s say you buy 20 bonds. Each of them yields 5%. Nineteen out of 20 mature at par and you get your money back, with interest.
One of them defaults. You are back where you started!
It is said that income investing is a negative art. Your goal isn’t to pick the winners—it’s to avoid the losers. You want to pick winners, invest in stocks. Have you seen a chart of Beyond Meat? Bonds generally don’t do that.
It is also said that income investing is like picking up nickels in front of a steamroller. You’re earning a 4–5% coupon, and you could get whacked pretty much any day, just like what happened at Toys “R” Us. It is a bit like selling puts.
As a negative art, bond investing has become more and more difficult. Yields are slim, and they are not what I would call “safe.”
The default rate is virtually zero, which means we are at the peak of the cycle. And getting 3% on XYZ high-grade corporate bond fund does not sound like a great idea.
This is one reason why there has been such a historic rally in municipal bonds, pension nonsense notwithstanding.
Bond investors now allegedly think about what could go wrong.
What Could Go Wrong
I am far from the first person to worry about the corporate credit cycle.
Nine months ago, people were flipping their lids about the rise in BBB credits and the potential ginormous migration to junk.
Never happened.
I know a few smart hedge funds who bet against all the paranoia. They did quite well.
The credit cycle will turn eventually.
Corporate debt issuance has been historic. Up until this point, there has been near-limitless demand for it.
It will take a skilled portfolio manager to avoid the turds.
I think last Friday was the first day I seriously considered the possibility that we were headed towards a recession—with two-, three-, and five-year note yields plunging below two percent.
The Key to Investing
I suspect most income investors reading this are dividend investors. Dividend investing is similar to bond investing.
High dividends are good, but they can also be bad if they are signalling a future dividend cut. Anything much over a 5–6% dividend in a stock should be viewed with some suspicion.
With regard to dividend investing, the key is not necessarily to buy big, fat dividends, but to buy growing dividends. Most people have it all wrong—they go yield hogging and end up paying the price.
Believe it or not, Apple is one of my favorite stocks. Not because it is a growth stock, but because it is a dividend stock.
It has a decent yield, but one that is likely to grow. One day it will have to figure out how to more aggressively return cash to shareholders.
I am going to tell you the secret to investing. Are you ready?
Invest in companies with dividend growth, and reinvest the dividends on a regular basis.
That’s it.
Say you had a million dollars. Buy 20 stocks with dividend growth. Set up the dividends to reinvest. Look at the P&L once a year. Make some adjustments. Repeat.
The 35/55/3/3/4 Portfolio
My guess is that this growth phase we’ve had in the stock market for so long is getting down to tag ends.
Recent history has demonstrated that it has paid to buy stocks without dividends. I have never understood why you would buy a stock without a dividend. Making enough extra cash to give some to you is how a company demonstrates that it’s profitable.
I have written before about the 35/55/3/3/4 portfolio. But I have never spent much time talking about the composition of the component parts.
The 35% in equities should all be invested in stocks with growing dividends, across all sectors.
The 55% in fixed income should be split between Treasuries (including TIPS), corporates, mortgages, municipal bonds, and a handful of international bonds.
Then you have the 3% commodities, the 3% gold, and the 4% REITs.
The blended yield of this portfolio is probably around 3 to 3.5%. You could retire on that!
Yield hogging is a pejorative term, and it should be. The whole financial crisis started because people decided to reach for another 30 basis points. Rule number 42: don’t be dumb.

What does it take to commit a minor and how do you afford it if you don't have health insurance?
My uncle and aunt are struggling with my 16 year old cousin who suffers from anorexia and she will go up to 3 weeks without eating anything. She looks pale and has no energy. Her eyes are sunken in and she hides in her room. My aunt and uncle are immigrants and they don't speak english that well. They don't have a lot of money or health insurance and I have no idea what to do but they are asking me to help! I've never dealt with this type of situation before and I'm just thinking they should call an ambulance and maybe they'll commit her to some state institution? Good individual insurance?

I was rear ended in a 3 car crash, I am the first one. Car 2 hit me first ( I feel 2 impact), then car 3 slightly bump the car 2. My rear bumper ( car 1) damaged and the front of car 2 got heavy damage. the rear bumper of car 2 almost no damage. also, the front of car 3 look like new. Problem is car 2 insurance only agreed to pay 50% because they said after car 2 rear end me , car 3 rear end car 2 that make further damage to my rear bumper. Car 3 insurance will not pay anything because base on the damage they found, car 3 can't make any damage to me. The repair cost is less than 1000 ( my deductable) , I don't want to use my own insurance to repair my car, coz I think my ins co will not fight for my 1000 deductable. What I can do? I am not agreed what the car 2 insurance co said. Should I go to small claim court or.... its only 850 dollars.""

How much does car insurance cost in England?
I'm not used to private insurance companies with differing rates! Here are the details: - If I had an older, smallish car, say that cost 900 pounds - No spots on my driving record, been driving for 10 years, *but* - I've just moved to England from Canada - I want full coverage, 3rd party, fire and theft Any advice on who is more, or less, expensive?""

Volvo S60 insurance for 20 year old new driver? UK?
I am looking to insure a Volvo s60, I'm a new driver and 20. I understand this car has a large engine at 2.5 litre diesel. However it is not deemed a racing car and it has many things positive - It's a very large and safe car (much safer than your Clio, Corsa or Saxo), It isn't a racer's dream, it's big in all ways - And is viewed as a family vehicle. It's robust, chunky and it's a car I would feel very safe in and it would be driven sensibly. Would they insure me and for how much? (UK answers please, thanks)""

Getting a car insurance even if you don't have a car?
I am 17 years old and turning 18 in 2 months. I have a permit in the state of New Jersey. Last Sunday, I made a small car accident. It was just few scratches on the other person's rear bumper. Anyway, the guy from an insurance company told my parents that I have to get an insurance as soon as i get my license even if I don't get a car. My parents can't afford to buy me a car anyway so I was planning to drive their car since I wouldn't have to get an insurance if I drive their cars. But the guy is telling me that I HAVE to get an insurance whether I'm getting my car or not. I have never heard of these things before. Can anybody explain to me why I have to get an insurance even if i am not getting car? And also, is there any other way I can solve this problem other than not getting a license? Because they're saying that the only way is not to get a license 'till I turn 21. And It would cost my parents way too much if i get my license. I mean I'm not even getting a car! Why do I need to get an insurance?""
