Reactions to "A vile hunger for your hammering heart"

Rashid (Armand) calling out Daniel for the book and the fact that other vampires will attack Louis is a bit off considering Louis is the one who invited him.

❗But you've cut off my hands. Weird alternate for one's hands being tied in an issue but I guess it's a stretch to make a reference?

Claudia's "Who am I supposed to love?" confrontation is brutally beautiful. And the slow, cold turn from Lestat wehn she accuses him of having two loves? 👌💋

Claudia having some years to herself is an interesting bid at independence that makes sense for her, though obviously wouldn't have worked for her physically younger book incarnation.

I am wary of her meeting another vampire. Their isolation and dependence on Lestat is a big part of the conflict.

Not a huge fan of Daniel slapping Louis, can't quite articulate why yet. Not that he was wrong to do it, it just feels a bit awkward as a scene

Claudia's return is sweet but did they need to do a literal record scratch

Lestat dragging Louis with his fingers in his throat is so visceral

Louis and Lestat's relationship isn't healthy in the books. All the characters are monsters (yes even your fave) and none of them come out clean. But this is a lot more physical than the nature of their hatred and toxicity. It's more obvious in some ways. But it adds an element. For example, Caludia saying "We're his slaves" in the preview of the next episode is different when they're both Black and Lestat is White. I can't really speak to the implications of that and how it's read in racial dynamics.

tl;dr: The family dynamic of the trio still feels right, but I'm feeling that wariness toward some of the ongoing plot changes as well. I feel like the writer shouldn't be able to say (about Bruce) "This is us introducing/building the Anne Rice universe" about a character who does not come from it.

A+++++++ ....👏🏻 THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING ! THEY ARE GENIUS, TALENTED, GENUINE.
