If I'm honest, the whole "love in every stitch" saying for fiber artists does not apply to me, like. I'm trying to get this fucking hook into stubborn yarn and I'll be stabbing it like it owed me money. Is that love because I hope not 😭💀

#art #crochet #honestly the closest thing i feel to love when crocheting is this feeling that this is bigger than me if that makes sense...#...i think it'sthe feeling of knowing how old the craft itself is and knowing that millions of people have done the same as you...#...millions of people have stabbed their crochet hook into the yarn because it's stubborn but so are you...#...millions of people in the past have sat and devoted their time and effort into all of this...#...millions of people have passed on this knowledge and kept this thing alive...#...and it's the feeling of knowing that humans across millenia aren't THAT different #to our core we are more or less similar - across the ages across the colours across everything. that really comforts and humbles me #have you looked up ancient textiles? because that also sparks these emotions in me #it makes me think about the tupes of people to make the textile but also about who wore it #and so many of them are still beautiful and colourful and it shows you SO MUCH about the people who made them #even the ones that are tattered and faded and stripped of colour still feel beautiful...#...because it has SURVIVED. it is evidence of a people who made it and a people who had technical skills #and THIS is why i HATE HATE HATE the idea that ancient people were just 'dumb' and 'uneducated'#that is so unfair to them and cruel and just. wrong. Hopping on the color temperature discourse train to say that I love the mental image of like— reversing the association of red and blue and having blue represent summer temps— thinking of summer blue skies and the ocean. Red for winter temps bringing to mind cheeks red with cold and holly berries and cardinal feathers. Idk I just think that’s neat!

i, too, think it's neat!!! I also just like the idea of-- specifically on the topic planning of Temperature Blanket™ palettes-- not being so literal with "cold" colors and "hot" colors. if you CAN get creative with it, I think it's boring NOT to. It's a year long project, so it needs to be interesting. as an aside, I also like the idea of leaving color palettes behind entirely, and doing a very straightforward gradient scheme as your temperature gauge. Like buying yarns like this that are already dyed into a gradient, and just being like "ok. done."

just pick which end of the spectrum is High temps and which one is Low temps, and get cracking. It doesn't have to be symbolic of the Season the temperatures would occur in at all.

#I pivoted back to the og topic which was crochet lol because I'm. still. just thinking in terms of temperature blankets #but in a broad sense I still don't particularly enjoy red=hot blue=cold #I would like to do a gradient type theme next year I think #SOME BITCH #I lost the ask. #ann plays awakening #EDITING TO SAY I STARTED TAG VENTING HIT READMORE AT YOUR OWN RISK #anyways #LAST LINE IS A KILLERRRR WOW #‘ann werent you just pairing olivia with thar—‘ OLIVIA IS A BUSY WOMAN OKAY #but also i just had this old save file from when i wanted to see pink inigo and decided to get some more supports #im obsessed actually like #ok tag venting time maybe this should be its own post but u guys know who i am #not only does this support in my very educated opinion do a good job at emulating inigo’s way of speaking #but i think theres also a very underrated characteristic he has that not a lot of people talk about and its that hes honestly quite morbid #him spending hours talking to and dancing with his mother’s grave is very beautiful and moving but it is also not a normal way to grieve #which makes sense because duh nothing about his life is normal but its j like. you know #if robin is his father (and maybe j the normal convo i dont remember) in the hot springs scramble he’ll insist upon bringing—#severed risen limbs home as a way to remember the peacefulness (lol) of the springs #and he thinks absolutely nothing of it!!#i think he gets attached to things just a little too intensely and because his life is surrounded by death how he expresses that can be #very interesting. and he talks about death all time more than the other kids #bc while a lot of their coping mechanisms are based in fear and the need to instill confidence in themselves (think cyn or gerome or owain #or sev or yarne or noire)#and how their SCARED of death and of loss and adapt different behaviors to act like theyre not (to varying degrees of success)#i think inigo is much more accepting of the fact that death follows him and has made it a normal presence in his life #which is not a good thing it means that he hasnt let himself grieve. he lets death hang over him and follow him instead of pushing back #also guess which one of the awakening trio in fates has the canonical story death. just by the way lmao #anyways bc im writing this in the tags on my phone i cant actually see what the hell ive been saying im j stream of consciousnessing this #but my point is that inigo has a weird fixation on death and dying that stems from his inability to make peace with death and grieve #and i think him idolizing death in this support (this BRILLIANT fan support that made me ill) is so in character and so lovely #i miss him so bad (hes literally in the photos im posting) grghhhrgah #i wuv him :(

my beloved wife eva @coziloveyourface made me another SUCH a beautiful sweater……LOOK at those gorgeous fucking cables…other than the part where i’ve already taken it off to go to bed i am never taking it off

#the fit feels so good #the yarn is SO beautiful the color is GORGITS #and she found her best wool yet for my sensitive baby skin #and she made the collar higher for me and other fit tweaks it is so so so so special when she makes me clothes #the richness the thickness this is like. the most precious garment i own actually #couldn’t love my houses sweater more that she made me #and will probably continue to wear that more often because its utility and vibes r unmatched #but this is so so so so so so BEAUTIFUL like LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!#face: the final frontier
