Bitter and resentful. Two harmful emotions that threatened to destroy my mind. Tommy was always seen as the decent guy, the playboy at the hands of being Oliver Queen’s best friend. It was part of the game. We sweet talk the gorgeous girls we buy a drink and one kiss leads to another, it was his everyday life. But when Oliver disappeared when he supposedly died the weight of the concepts of the reputation fell on his shoulders. Tommy was angry, he was sad and even mad at Oliver for leaving, for leaving his own playboy legacy on him. And Tommy did grow out of it or so he believed he had. Until now; grieving the loss of his father. The man who at times was a disappointment of a parent.
He wasn’t capable of showing up for me. He was more scold when he felt I let him down. But he tried; he wasn’t the father of the year but who was? Tommy held his head up; he tried to wipe any lingering of tears away, he didn’t want to be vulnerable, he didn’t want to be weak. But I felt myself spiraling and at the hands of one Green Arrow. The man that decided violence was the answer; the man who wanted venages for crimes that were out of our control. Felicity she was gorgeous on the eyes; she had that innocence about her. She definitely couldn’t handle the playboy style I wore. But she stood almost uneasy out of her element. Why? Because I asked her to.
I was reeling, I was uneasy on himself, I wanted to drink my own sorrows away. I wanted to numb the pain of grief which wasn’t easy. I felt like my body was consumed with alcohol now. I felt wobbly not that I’d admit to it; hands grasped hold of the counter as I leaned my body to the edge. One arm folded in front of me to cover my balance and the other held a firm grip on his drink. “ Tell me something, anything to distract my mind and we’ll see if you live up to the great company comments.” He added purposely avoiding answering to how stubborn Oliver Queen was. Not for nothing but Tommy had no interest in discussing his idiot friend, the friend that died and returned and felt like he was a stranger. It still felt like Oliver was gone. He abandoned me in my time of need, and when he was absent who held Thea’s hand, who visited his family at the mansion each week, if not everyday. I did because the Queens were family; I understood the pain of loss, my mother left us, and I never wanted them to feel the pain of feeling alone. But Oliver could never give me the same curtesy. I had to roll my eyes to myself; he wasn’t going to dim the mood. I had a drink in my hand; I felt numbness, I felt at ease because I had a beautiful girl to keep me company.
And if hanging out with one Felicity Smoak ends up pissing his friend off; so be it. He had to pull his shoulders down, as he brought his glass to his lips; lips that tasted like liquor.
“ He wasn’t perfect, but he truly believed he was trying to be better, for me and for the city.” Obviously in the dark of his hobbies but Tommy always held a torch to his father; how does one move on? From the grief from feeling sorry for himself?
@ofnotavillainofmystory
{Oliver was probably the most stubborn person that I knew. Ridiculous hot… especially when he was fighting crime and doing all of those pull ups on the bar, but still, annoyingly stubborn. Honestly his stubbornness and pride being the source and starting point of a lot of our fights… Today being a prime example of that, when I all but begged him to go and talk to Tommy, yet Oliver refused to. Yeah, yeah, I get that the two of them had a bit of a fight, but Tommy’s father just died, so given that Oliver was one of Tommy’s longest friends, now more than ever, Oliver should be there for Tommy. Nope. Not Oliver though. He told me to butt out, mind my own business, and then he went about his own Arrow, crime-fighting business} Butt out. Bossy, stubborn jerk. Nobody is going to tell me what to do. {I murmured out under my breath in indignance as I stormed out of the lair; making my way upstairs to the club, where I knew Tommy was probably working. Sure, I knew the club wasn’t technically open yet, but that didn’t matter, since Tommy was usually here early to work on inventory and stocking and stuff. As if that thought no sooner came to mind, the private elevator door opened up to the desired floor of the club; pressing the code into the keypad before the secret door opened into one of the storage closets. After a short walk then out of the storage closet and into the club, I found myself briskly walking toward the bar area in search of Tommy. Mind you, I didn’t really know him all that well, so I didn’t have the first clue what I’d say to him once I did approach, but that didn’t matter. He was mourning the loss of his father, so even if I just said, “I’m sorry for your loss,” that’s still better than Oliver annoyingly not saying anything to Tommy at all. I thought to myself matter of factly as I approached the back end of the bar, and then walked around to the front; greeting Tommy with a smile when I noticed him jotting some things down on the clipboard in his hands} Hey, Tommy… I don’t know if you remember me, but we met a couple of times through Oliver. The last time being here on the opening night of your club, which was great, by the way. A raging success, you could say. {I rambled nervously before realizing I wasn’t giving the right details currently, and I needed to remain on topic now} Anyway, not that any of that matters, but I’m Felicity. You probably already remembered that, since we have met a couple of times, but just in case you didn’t remember, that’s my name. {Here we go again. I thought to myself as I continued to ramble} Either way, Oliver told me about your dad, and I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I lost my dad, too. I mean, he didn’t die… More like, left me as a kid, but my point is, I know the sting that can follow. Yours being much worse than mine ever was though, and for that, I am sorry. I just wanted to say that I’m here for you, Tommy… You know, if you need a friend, or anything, I’m here. I’ve been told I can be a good listener, too, so you can always vent or talk to me, if that’s what you want or need. {I rambled on as I eventually perched myself onto one of the bar stools. Possibly prematurely though, since there was a good chance Tommy would send me on my way now, since I was probably getting on his nerves with all of my incessant rambling}

PrepPy GoThic LoVe
A redo. Cleaning up the story in A03.
Chapter 11 PateRnity
He wakes up with the early morning beam of light right on his field of vision and he knows he should have shut the blinds last night, but his girl was feisty and that became an afterthought.
Now hoping to glimpse his surroundings is an issue. Having to move slightly a body adhered to his shifts as a small whiny moan escapes her lips.
This is his life now. One he is happy to wake up to.
Felicity’s hair tousled from sleep Oliver can’t help but have his fingers move a free strand that is across her lips and as tempting as it would be to kiss them, she needs the extra sleep. He has another presence he’d like to connect with. Alexander seems to be a silent sleeper not something Oliver would have guessed of a five-month-old baby. Glancing across the room into his son’s crib and there is nothing but his discarded blankets.
Rising slowly being careful to disentangle the arms that are around him making sure she doesn’t wake up. Alarmed at first and he almost calls out to Felicity until he remembers Tommy’s story of handling his son on times Felicity would take some naps on their study dates.
Maybe Alexander woke up and Tommy hearing his hubbubs came into the room and grabbed his son as the parents didn’t wake up to some cute little babbles.
Eyeballing his girl first thing he notices is the covers are partially covering her rear end and her tank top is riding high.
Shaking his head to what his best friend might have seen. Oliver needs to clear some thoughts of knocking his brother on his ass for entering his room when his beautiful girl with his doing will probably continue to barely wear anything at night. Plucking his discarded pants from the floor he goes in search of them.
Only to catch sight of Tommy talking to Alexander the official first name of his son since he and Felicity’s court date is happening in a few weeks all thanks to the Jacobs who pulled in a few favors and now he and Felicity’s son has his new official name to be registered as Alexander Robert Smoak Queen soon enough.
Oliver very thankful of how Michael Jacobs’ family friend is helping with the speedy course to get his son’s name changed.
Days later after his parents’ impromptu visit. Oliver gets to meet the couple that almost had a hand in raising his little bundle of joy.
Meeting the Jacobs when they both went to have Alex’s lungs checked. The office of the pediatrician shares one with other doctors like a gynecologist that brings the Jacobs here. In the few minutes of pleasant greetings as Felicity is talking to a familiar pair Oliver realizes he is talking to the couple who would have been raising his son and an eerie feeling settles deep down in the pit of his stomach.
They are a nice couple, and he notes the woman is very much pregnant and needing her husband’s help in basically any extensive movement which makes him look at Felicity whom is showing the couple their son. It doesn’t take much for Oliver to recall all the whale references and wonders if Felicity had help getting up or down or any support getting to any sort of comfortable positions. Probably not and he looks away uncomfortable at that notion.
“Oliver.” Felicity calls out taking him from his pensive state.
Apologizing and asking what was said. The two couples talk about babies for a bit and the conversation of Felicity and Oliver starting the process of the name change is when Michael gives him a card telling them that it’s a good friend that will speed this up for them because they want to thank Felicity for how well she handled everything.
Leaving the ladies to their baby talk the men go get them something to drink from the little self-service snack area.
“It is quite lucky that both of you found each other.” Michael comments as they reach the little nook.
“It is.” He glances back at her playing with their son as Carol is laughing making funny faces at the infant. He doesn’t know how much Michael here knows about Felicity’s predicament of their shared past but he’s guessing more than he is letting on.
Michael breaks the silence first, “The way you’re looking at her I can see your planning a future.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re looking at her like she is the sun and the moon.”
Oliver beams with delight. “She’s terrific.”
“What are your plans if you don’t mind me asking?”
That makes Oliver stop and look at the older man. “You mean marriage plans?”
He nods but adds, “I’m assuming both of you are young…”
“I’m going to ask her to be my wife next October.”
“Why October?” the man asked truly interested.
“That’s when we met a year ago.”

One of a few prestigious golf clubs located around Starling City’s outer edges. A site to show wealth and a place of business for the powerful.
Moira has entered this club many times to have brunch with some of elite class of ladies. Most are influential as their husbands are powerful businessmen. Coming to the table she sees a familiar face who she has groomed to one day sit by her side.
The ladies are all enjoying their mimosas as each takes a turn talking about a relevance of their current endeavors.
A few ladies call out all with their plastered smiles, “Moira.”
“Tammy, how lovely to see you here.” Moira speaks wondering when she flew in.
“Monique may have my husband, but I still own his wallet.”
Moira looks at her longest friend raising an eyebrow and slowly back to Tammy. Finally taking her seat her eyes fall on the youngest woman gathered around the table. “Laurel, I thought law school pre-courses would start to keep you busy?”
“One must find time to balance the right priorities.”
As Annette a friend from college says, “Oh, child once you and Oliver start to have children, I doubt you’d be so into civil duties.” Moira chokes slightly.
At least her composure doesn’t lose its elegance. These ladies have no clue to her son’s activities. Oliver is practically engaged to a child but at least she is a bright girl with an incredible future if she chooses. Unlike a culprit who has done the unthinkable to her son.
Nothing liking being in the presence of a past love interest that is turning to be nothing but a gold-digging tramp.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
Finding out a girl who Moira had high hopes would marry into the family before long is dashed by an evil deed.
Having a suspicion that Laurel had something to do with the paternity results. As she shared information on a test with a brief encounter in Boston many days ago.
What Laurel didn’t know is that Moira had taken some liberties to take a few samples of her grandchild while waiting for her son to arrive from his classes that day. Laurel thinks she must be cunning for the opportunity to have the evidence linking the Queens to a newborn. Creating friction between the lovers of a little boy that is indeed her grandson.
Unfortunately for Laurel, Moira doesn’t forget faces. Especially ones that her son has flaunted in the public domain. The girl handling the medical equipment may not have been noticed by her son. His focus was only on his family. No pretty girl flaunting her assets even registered to a prominent womanizer that Oliver is known to be. A med tech who must have a connection to the girl Moira is weary now since taking Laurel under her wings.
The disturbing smile of confidence as the law student came to the manor on an afternoon very well knowing the results. Arriving shortly before the carrier messenger delivers the results.
Moira aware that the concluded result of the paternity test reveals that Alexander is a descendant of the Queen bloodline. She allows the scene of her husband’s outrage to carry on for the benefit of a charade that Ms. Lance is truly enjoying.
Robert upset in disbelief. As he for one believed that the little boy in Boston, Massachusetts is his grandbaby. Luckily it is a school day and Thea was not privy to seeing her father so livid as to utter obscenities. Moira keeping her composure to not allow a display to contradict her husband. The time to send the interloper away Moira hurries with a request.
“Laurel, I hate to be discourteous, but would you allow us our privacy.” Moira says as sweetly as she can muster.
“Oh, of course Mrs. Queen. Knowing that rat lied to Oliver and yourselves must be a huge slap in the face.”
Holding her tongue and allowing this young lady to spew more lies and insults, “It is dear, thank you for being here for us.”
“It is my pleasure. I sincerely hope you can save your son from that wretchedness.”
“Thank you Laurel.” Robert says quietly as he walks over to the grand window and stares out. As soon as Laurel leaves Robert in a disgusted manner speaks, “Our son is living with a liar did she think…”
“Calm down Robert.”
“Calm down? Our son is across the country living with a hustler and her son...”
Moira knows she should tell Robert the truth but with the angry way he is moving about the truth would not be believed. Carefully telling him, “We can lose our son over this. We proceed with caution.”
“Alright I’ll give this a few days. I do not like this at all.”
She patted his arm and leaves him to continue looking at the gardens from the window. She is now going to talk to the woman responsible for making her husband furious.
Moira Queen has had nothing but good things to say about the lovely Laurel Lance who would one day marry her son. Not until she cunningly came to stand before her and her husband and watch the scene of two parents being devastated that their grandchild is not theirs.
Moira has always taken matters into her hands. An impulse to test the boy beforehand may have been a blessing. To know a wolf in sheep’s clothing is in her home. It is good to have gotten the results hours earlier. As the farce of this fallout only happened to one elder Queen. As Robert was not home for the original findings. One that was not polluted by vengeance of a scorned lover.
Moira is angry even if she can see that in all possibilities this is something she could see herself doing to protect her own family. What infuriates her is that Laurel thinks she is easily deceived. To disapprove that an assistant of Laurel’s is very unprofessional indeed. Entering the sitting room just doors down from Robert’s office she finds the deceiver waiting.
“Mrs. Queen.”
“Laurel.”
“I thought I’d catch you before I left. I am so sorry that floozy has played your family.”
“What people will do to be a Queen is not strange at all. I have errands to attend to. I know you can show yourself out.”
“Of course, though I am truly…”
Moira has played with the best of them. Knows her place in society. A debutante that is no fool.
“Laurel, do not apologize for something you have no privilege to.”
Laurel regards the Queen Matriarch and nods as a manservant arrives to escort the girl out. Leaving Moira to look at the young woman she once thought so highly of.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
So here is Oliver barely in the living room watching his best buddy talking to Alexander in a goofy tone that has his son vibrantly wiggling his hands back and forth trying to capture a washcloth as a cartoon displays on the TV screen. He knows his son isn’t watching the program he is more into lights and patterns and anything he can place in his mouth.
“What are you both doing?” lightheartedly saying as he comes into Tommy’s field of vision.
“Oh no! We are busted.” He drops the washcloth on Alexander’s face which gets a squeal as Tommy blows a raspberry on his tummy.
“Uncle Tommy is a thief.” He singsongs as he’s now in the line sight of his son and the little boy’s hands are in a grabby motion. Picking him up he adds, “He needs to get his own and not sneak into mommy and daddy’s room.”
“Your daddy is giving me ideas.”
“Your dad will kill you if you follow suit and have one too.”
“But think of all the possibilities of the Queen and Merlyn’s raising deviant children.”
“Really, eccentric children are what you are aiming for?”
“Hey, we were screwballs and look at us now.” Tommy grabs the remote and changes to a sports channel as he situates himself on his favorite chair still holding a large grin.
Oliver laughs knowing Tommy is joking as he walks to the kitchen. “How long have you and Alex been awake?”
“A little over an hour. Little tyke is a drummer can’t believe he didn’t wake you or the death princess up from slumber.”
“Probably because we are dead tired.”
“You do know your parents haven’t cut you off. This getting a job plus being a full-time student and dad is not so necessary.”
“It is to me. Did you feed…” Oliver’s voice low as he is looking for the bottle Felicity put in the fridge last night.
“Yes, Xan the man had his fix.”
“What is it with you and Felicity calling him Xan. Started off as Alexander to Xander to only Alex surprisingly skipping Al to go with Xan?” Oliver places his son in the highchair as he grabs some ingredients for breakfast. “Should have stuck with Robert.”
“Oh, come on. Robbie or Bert just doesn’t cut it. Visions of your dad come to mind.”
“What’s wrong with my dad?”
“It’ll be weird when you start disciplining your kid and calling your dad’s name.”
Oliver rolls his eyes, “It’s not that strange other people have done it for millenniums.”
“Um-hmm, should have gone with Oliver Thomas like Felicity mentioned though my preference would have been little Tommy Jr.” He hears Oliver grumble something Tommy can’t hear. “Now I could see you punishing yourself as little Ollie would find trouble and you’d have to use your own namesake in a stern voice to mean business.”
“Hence why we went with Alexander, a clean name that both Felicity and I like.” The little boy hit the table with the mentioning of his name. “You want to try some solid food?”
Alexander just hit his little fists on the table making babbling sounds.
“He hasn’t taken to solids yet. He’s a boob man.” Tommy says coming to sit at the counter giving his nephew a high five. Oliver surprised a bit that his good friend didn’t mention once again the breastmilk incident. He should have known better.
Tommy keeping his focus on the baby, “Can’t believe your daddy of all people didn’t tell me that it’s your mommy’s milk.”
Alexander only coos to his uncle’s expressive tone.
“Oh, come on Tommy let it go…”
“The look you gave me the moment I wiped that dribble from my wrist will be ingrained in my mind forever.”
“It’s been days buddy. You’re going to prolong this farce. I can sense I’ll be apologizing for many more weeks.” Oliver mumbles as he placed his oatmeal bowl on the counter and a small container of puree to see if his son will take it. If not, he will add it to the oatmeal and have his breakfast.
“Morning.” Felicity’s voice coming from the hallway as she is fast approaching looking at her boys.
“Look who is up?” Oliver says placing the baby spoon near Alex’s mouth. The boy moving his face in non-interest but excited his mom is saving him from the intruding goop. “Morning.” Oliver kisses her and whispers, “It’s a no go.”
“I do have a hope that when Hanukkah comes, I’ll be able to have the nectar of the Gods.”
Felicity truly misses coffee.
“Ha! I think Xan had the special nectar this morning. The good stuff you know not canned, maybe not fresh from the source as it came from a bottle but hey the little one knows what’s up.” Tommy smirks still playing on the milk incident.
“Tommy!” Felicity whines taking a bowl from Oliver who also had made one for her.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
They spent the entire time before she must go to work practically moving her stuff into Oliver’s room. The decision is quick on her part as Oliver asks her to move in with him. At least have enough clothes for each week so it can fit with their schedules.
She feels like a grown up even compromising to letting Tommy have more hands on when she could leave Alex in daycare. Thomas Merlyn wants some bonding time which blew her mind. He’s spent time with her son over the course of months knowing him, but this concept is still surreal to her.
She knows he is a big softy at heart but taking care of a child who can be pleasant one minute and have a crying fit the next is a huge raising her hands in defeat as she tells Oliver no matter what they still must pay the cost of childcare. The conversation is nulled as Tommy agrees on the spot to do that. Weird to witness the silent conversation between the two men she must have not been privy to a real conversation that both men seen to anchor in place.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
Moira corners Laurel off in the club. It didn’t take long after the girl’s departure from her home to set her husband straight.
Watching relief fall on Robert’s face is not something she will forget anytime soon. Though in that regard, it is due to how the whole situation took place.
Telling the girl Moira knows the truth and waiting to see the outcome. It takes a few minutes of Laurel playing dumb, but Moira explains that she knows exactly what Laurel did and if she doesn’t back off the consequences to that offence would become a legal one.
Laurel is adamant that she is doing what is right and that the Queens should be grateful. That Oliver is just having a fling and that he belongs with her. She knows what is best for him.
“Don’t count on it.”
“He’ll come around.”
“After what you did.” In no short order of emphasizing a point, “I’ll protect you just this once.”
“Mrs. Queen, if you taught me anything its persistence.” She doesn’t want to boast to Oliver’s mother, but she added it herself ‘Oliver needs the right woman and I’m that woman.’
“Oliver already chose his family. He’ll cut himself off financially and take avoiding action from his family to prove to anyone especially himself that he can do it.”
Laurel doesn’t know about that tidbit as Moira looks on.
“So, you’re okay with a woman who allows her man to shun his family.”
Moira is about to answer but thinks better of it. She can see the younger woman starting to process the information it most likely will not be a good outcome, “Laurel, my son is adept to make his own choices.”
“Yes, we both know he thinks well with his little brain hence a child outside of wedlock.”
A nerve struck, “That is my grandchild.”
“Yes, I suppose he is but how would people think if they know his mother is barely an adult herself? There is a lot of Queen drama…”
“Laurel, I advise you to keep your voice down. You target my loved ones, and you’ll understand that I am a force to be reckoned with firsthand.”
Laurel adds flippantly, “Your son belongs with me.”
“As I said, I’ll defend you this once nevertheless I am done endorsing you.”
Laurel knows that she needs to get back on Moira’s good graces and finally recedes from any more comments.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
Robert Queen had some business in Providence, RI to attend to he is already planning to stopover and visit his son and his family. It doesn’t sit right with him as a few weeks ago how guarded his son was. Oliver is practically insistent on being disowned as if that was even a pliable option. Robert loves his son and by right he will properly welcome his boy’s family. First step is trying to smooth any misgivings because he really wants his family to be present for this coming Christmas.
Felicity is showing to be a reasonable young lady. Not jump to any conclusions when his wife asked for a paternity test. Agreeing wholeheartedly when Oliver didn’t.
With some festering turmoil of emotions from what happened in the summer months. Moira holding a mighty card which landed up backfiring as Oliver just told them he’d be okay by packing up and leaving to wherever Felicity Smoak would lead him. He recalls the night vividly.
His son holding a defiant stance. One Robert only ever imagined since the heir to the family came to be placed in his own bassinet shortly after Oliver’s delivery onto the world.
Picking up his phone. A call is made.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
As the evening progresses in Boston. Oliver comes to terms with a few things and decides to talk about one of them with his girlfriend. To his surprise she beats him to the punch.
“I think we should keep this place your parents are offering after Tommy leaves after graduation.”
He sighs, “Babe, you know how I feel about taking anything from them; the point was I can make this work on my own.”
“Well, I still have my place at MIT.”
He nods. Even if they don’t move there. They’ll still have to make the necessary payments to keep it. He is thinking they might need to move after his graduation. So much to hash out as there is enough on their plates. Even as his mother did react strongly to their safety if the word did get out about his new family. This secure high-rise would be the only option.
“We can move there; I know it’ll be tight, but it will be on our terms.” He thinks to himself, ‘As long as it’s safe.’
“Okay.”
“Felicity, I know it sounds off the wall, but I want to prove I can take care of my family. You and Alexander are my top priority.”
“Oliver, I understand, and I’ll support your decision.” She stands up from the cushioned rocking chair and places the newest bottle on the bureau.
“Thank you.” He has her in his arms. Its late both are exhausted from the day’s events. “I’ll put these two bottles in the fridge while you clean up.”
“Can you pick up our son from his late sports date?” She asks right before she lets out a stifled yawn.
Oliver leaves their room and heads to the kitchen his eyes roaming to where his son is laid out on his tummy beside his uncle watching the night’s clips of games played that day. He is so lucky that Tommy really enjoys hanging out with the infant.
“How was that exam you were talking about with Professor Elkenson?”
Tommy moves his nephew a bit so he can sit up, “Actually aced it once again. Give Licy a kiss for me.”
Oliver just gives him the okay sure buddy look and sits on the edge of the long sofa as his son gets to roll to his side and back down to his tummy leaving some drool pooling on Tommy’s sweats where his little face lands.
“Is it time for Xan the man to get his last feeding before sandman gets you?” Tommy kisses the boy as he raises him into his arms. Alexander wants to play more as the buzzer on the TV goes off indicating how a team won that noise always has the boy making driveling sounds.
“If we are lucky the sandman will keep him for at least five good hours.” He takes his son into his arms as Tommy remotely shuts off the television set.
“Well Uncle Tommy is going to sleep night little monster.” He waves to the boy who smiling brightly at the man’s antics. “Night Oliver.” Passing the hallway where it splits, he calls out to Felicity, and they have a short exchange of words before he lands in his room for the night.
“Thanks Tommy, goodnight.” Oliver calls out before his friend reaches his bedroom. Looking down at his son who is eyeing him silently starts to blow bubbles and mimic in his babbling fashion. “So, are you tired yet?” the boy enjoying the senseless entertainment of blowing the bubbles and his drool running down his chin to his bib. Oliver wipes it off as he turns the correct knobs for controlling the interior lights of the large living quarters. He has his son bouncing in his arms as he enters his own room.
Felicity walks out in a towel and Oliver makes a low whistling sound. Felicity just shrugs her head, but Alexander happily looks at his father’s mouth waiting for another whistle.
“He is all yours I’m going to wash up.” He says after she slides into her pajama bottoms and goes to sit in the rocking chair, so she’d nurse her son more comfortably. Placing the boy down into her awaiting arms and steals a kiss before washing up before bed.
Alexander is the first to be clean in the evening as they started to situate themselves for the night. It’s become a ritual since she moved in with him. Everything has fallen into place.
If anyone were to tell him at age eighteen that in a few years he’d become a dad and happily move in with one desirable female he’d laugh at that person’s face. Even more bizarre is the best friend he’s had since forever is okay with it and is even participate in raising the little one. Yea, he’d think the person insane.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
Felicity is finding she is becoming an early morning person. It’s the time of the day when life is quiet, and she gets to sit back and watch two of her favorite people just existing in her space.
Not long until her son awakes on his set schedule. Taking him from the crib as soundlessly that can be mustered up before the boy finds that he likes his daddy’s voice too.
“Hope we didn’t wake you.”
“No.” he turns his head to the alarm clock, “How long have you been up?”
“Five thirtyish.”
“Not tired?” he says gathering himself off the bed only to make a habit of pecking her forehead first as she is so tiny in comparison to his larger frame. Catching on that his son wants to give him a good morning hug.
“Hello Alexander.” Grinning as his son starts to make his little ruckuses of sounds. “You take after your momma.”
“Hey, now!”
“What? I’ve noticed when you’re excited your words…”
“Choose yours wisely.”
“Nothing against it. It’s endearing.”
“Well, if your wordy son is done, I’m going to get some more bottles ready.”
“The sterilized bottles are in the dishwasher.” Oliver says as she walks out of their room. Looking down at his blue-eyed carbon copy as the boy’s fingers busy themselves pulling at his father’s shirt. He walks into the bathroom and holds his boy against his hip as he relieves himself allowing the boy to continue to chatter his little heart out.
Walking through the very quiet darkened living quarters Felicity knows if she will be living here, she’ll need to know how things work. Finding it weird to be holding out her hands trying to figure out where the half wall is. Somewhere there is a light fixture box that lights up the kitchen area. Her foot finds a leg of a chair and she stumbles almost falling when her backside plumps into the chair’s cushions.
Her eyes adjust to the new light source as she turns to watch Oliver and her son by the row of light fixtures. On the other side of the room, she just came from. Alexander has his face hidden into his father’s chest, but Oliver has an eyebrow raised looking at her. She sees that she’s teeter totting on the piece of furniture.
He voices fully amused by her, “I should probably teach you some of the mechanics of the room.”
“Yep.” as she can now see the light switch and goes to get those bottles. They keep their voices low trying to respect Tommy who most likely is still sleeping.
“I don’t think mommy had her full night sleep.” He teases.
“Well, you’ve been studying on and off this weekend for this exam this coming morning and that presentation in your next class you can’t miss it. Did you not say it was worth 25% of your grade?”
“Okay, yea sure. Entertain our son.” She heads to the bedroom and Alex makes a call out for her.
“Sorry buddy.” As Alexander goes to make a whiny sound Oliver bounces the boy taking his mind off whatever preoccupied it moments before heading to play some baby games that he has noticed Alexander loves to play with his uncle.
@@@@/arrow/@@@@/olicity/@@@@@@
Robert calls his son telling him he is indeed Boston and would love to see him and his grandchild. He really does want to see the little boy. For an agonizing amount of time before Moira set him straight. He was truly upset that a test proclaimed a boy he found himself wishing for wasn’t his grandson.
Grateful that Moira’s little deceptive swap testing saved them from real mayhem. To think such treachery exists. Arriving at the exact moment Oliver opens the door for him.
“Dad, come in.”
“Oliver good to see you.”
“Same.” He gives his father a hug.
“Where is Kyle?”
“It’s actually Alexander now.”
“Oh. Since?”
“Since the beginnings of what will be a few court engagements his whole name will be Alexander Robert Smoak Queen.”
Robert smiles it is a good name, “That is a mighty strong name. Where is the little one?”
“He’s not here yet. Today Felicity picks him up.”
Understanding there must be some complexities between the young couple, “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine.”
“Just fine?”
“Dad, really I’m okay. I was just here studying before they get home and I’m off to work.”
“Oliver, with how well you’ve worked to get your grades up. You’re almost graduating you should hold off this tending financially to your girlfriend and son.”
“Not that you believe he was my son at first.”
Robert and Moira haven’t let to many people know of their fortune of adding another Queen into the fold. Oliver still thinks the results aren’t in yet as neither he nor his wife have expressed any more concerns for the paternity results.
“I’m assuming the court mandate for a paternity test is required.”
“Yes, also Felicity has to prove she is the mother even though they know she is. Logistics I guess as the records show the child doesn’t have her listed as a legal guardian.”
“She really was going to give the child up?”
“Yes, dad she was.”
“Things have a way of working out.”
“I suppose.”
“Oliver please, no matter what, we are family. Like you, I want to take care of my family. That includes my grandson.”
“I’m sorry dad. It’s hard to turn off this protective streak when it concerns them.”
“You are going to be a good father.”
Preppy Gothic Love redo... (will be posting over) chapter 11 in A03.

Completed Arrow Multichapters on AO3, April-May, 2022
NOTE: I’m now crossposting to https://theweekinarrowfic.dreamwidth.org. Also, I'm looking for volunteers to test out my fic recommender! Need more Arrow in your life? Why not try one of the multchapter fanfics recently completed by our talented fic writers?
Olicity
To be or not to be (a queen) by MiriRainbowitz (Oliver/Felicity, 2/2, 2022-04-26) - Felicity had had fairly ambitious life plans, but she'd never bothered to include "becoming Queen of a (small) European country when she turned 21". Still, she's not going to back away from her duty- especially now that some pretentious would-be usurper is trying to take her crown.
Complicated by m3m (Oliver/Felicity, 48/48, 2022-05-31) - Felicity Smoak is determined not to let her relationship with Oliver get complicated. She's been there, done that with a masked vigilante, and it ended very poorly, to say the least. But her plans are derailed by two things: her strong and unshakeable attraction to Oliver and Bruce's completely unexpected arrival at Queen Consolidated.
Other Arrow Ships
The One-Winged Crisis by Aragorn_II_Elessar (multifandom, several Arrow characters listed, 4/4, 2022-03-16) - Mar-Novu summons a powerful warrior to end the Anti-Monitor, but he didn't think it through, and now the Multiverse has to deal with an even greater threat.
The Archer, the Widow and the Purgatory by Bl4ckHunter (Oliver/Natasha Romanoff, 2/2, 2022-04-08) - When Oliver's wife, Natasha Romanoff and his friends and family are kidnapped by Adrian Chase who executes his endgame on Lian Yu, Oliver has to recruit allies and former enemies to save them.
DC Downfall by kuroWriter (Mia and Helena among characters listed, 13/13, 2022-04-03) - The DC ladies are captured, abused and murdered one after the other, by an unknown new enemy that seems to always be a step ahead of the ill-fated heroines
New Justice: Revenge Against the League by KarryCoMaster, KarryMaster (Kara Danvers/OFC, Sara/Tommy, Laurel/Oliver among side pairings, 12/12, 2022-04-10) - Crisis is over and life is returning to normal, but there are some loose ends from previous seasons that will come back to haunt the league. Who exactly wants revenge and what for?
Young And A Menace by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 7/7, 2022-04-26) - Barry is 16, on as many prescriptions as the doctor will allow for his ‘psychosis’, and furious with it. People who know, who saw his green smudge like paint, all say it's wasted on a freak like him. As much as he thinks about it, Barry is perfectly aware of how unwanted he is. Oliver Queen is 20, mindbogglingly rich, achingly beautiful, and high on the fast life. Most importantly though is that over the course of the night- as Oliver plies him with a rum and coke followed by more than a few Shirley Temples- Barry’s emerald green smudge begins to spell his name in a quick messy cursive script. It's a rather awe inspiring match to Oliver’s own red splotch spelling Barry’s name in his furiously quick chicken scratch.
Cleaning The Clocks by Crazy_Comet_97 (Digg/Oliver, 2/2, 2022-04-22) - It had happened so fast that he hadn’t noticed his heat had come and now, he was a mess. (A/B/O)
The Archer, the Widow and the Winter Soldier by Bl4ckHunter (Oliver/Natasha Romanoff, 8/8, 2022-04-15) - While working with S.H.I.E.L.D., Oliver Queen, Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff discover a deadly conspiracy from within, while facing the dangerous Winter Soldier and they will also have to face with more than one devastating betrayal and revelation.
A Trip to LA by Screvier (Laurel/Oliver, 7/7, 2022-04-11) - Felicity gets over her head helping John Constantine behind Team Arrow's back.
Team Lance by Regallyif (Sara/Ava Sharpe, 10/10, 2022-04-11) - When a mission to find the time pirates leads the Legends to some familiar faces, having Laurel on board gets a bit more complicated.
The Wedding that we've all been waiting for by HRwriter897 (Selina Kyle/Bruce Wayne, Nyssa/Sara/Oliver among side pairings, 7/7, 2022-04-06) - Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are finally tying the knot and everyone wants to be there to see it.
Burning Arrows by Crazy_Comet_97 (Oliver/OFC, 5/5, 2022-04-22) - British citizen Elizabeth Lestrade-Holmes, daughter of Mycroft and Gregory Lestrade-Holmes, was kidnapped off the streets of Westminster when she was 15 and was found in America 7 years later when she is 22 years old, but she is not the same Elizabeth who left. She holds a dark secret and when keeping it starts to spill over when navigating how to act normal once again, questions are being asked. How can she speak languages she never learnt? How does she do advanced military moves without even taking a self-defence class or even stepping foot into a barracks? And more pointedly, how on Earth is she friends with the rich American businessman Oliver Queen? (Originally posted in 2013)
No More Heroes - a Purge Night Story - Part 2 by dbud (multifandom, Isabel among characters listed, 11/11, 2022-04-25) - This a continuation of the story 'No More Heroes - a Purge Night Story'. A crossover of the Purge universe and the worlds created by the Marvel and DC universes as well as other's from movies and TV. A world where the heroes never came to pass and where murder, rape and every type of crime is legal one night per year. In this place, men of power and wealth come together every Purge night to indulge their darker whims. Unfortunately, in this world of no superheroes, there is no one to protect the women who might draw their attention. Even women of power and influence can find themselves at these mad men’s mercy.
Smut Series: Oliver Queen Gathering by Phillipe363 (Nyssa/Sara/Oliver, 4/4, 2022-03-01) - Just a story with chapters focusing on Oliver sleeping with various Arrowverse women either from my stories directly or original to this. Chapter 4 is Oliver Queen/Sara Lance/Thea Queen.
Cupid's Deadly Kiss by Batman_Batgirl_XXX (TottPaula) (Barbara Gordon-centric, Oliver/Felicity as side pairing, 8/8, 2022-05-09) - Barbara Gordon is known as cold and distant, and Bruce Wayne's rep says he's a womanizer. Barbara reluctantly agrees to be Bruce's date to a charity night after her dad begs her for a favor. It morphed into a delightful evening as they become acquainted. The Batsignal interrupts the night calling for Batman, and Batgirl answers as well, coincidentally, both heading to the exact unused room to switch identities! They fight a new criminal mastermind armed with tainted arrows, Batgirl is later struck down and collapses unconscious! Complications arise! Stay tuned to this tv channel, and don't touch that dial!
When Demon Hunters Meet The Arrow by The_Unlimited (Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester, Laurel/Oliver, 12/12, 2022-05-23) - Discovering a new job happening in Starling City, Sam and Dean decide to head up there despite all of the dangers of their resident vigilante. Pretty soon, they're working with that vigilante to search for the monsters they have to take out, and end up helping him discover the truth of more than a few of the problems happening to his city and to his family and friends. Maybe they should have let Garth take care of this one...
Parents by Amelia_Queen (Kara Danvers/Oliver, 2/2, 2022-05-07) - La rencontre avec la figure parentale de son âme sœur ne se passe pas toujours dans les meilleures circonstances.
there it is again (that funny feeling) by AllHaleOlicity (OC/OC (next gen), 36/36, 2022-05-20) - After quitting his job at the Star City Hospital, Q Lance decides to visit his sister in LA. But he didn't expect to be stuck on the couch for more than a week. A few months have went by and just before deciding whether or not it's time to go back and beg for his previous position at the hospital, he meets a girl who runs a coffee shop on a small street corner. She knows nothing about Star City drama or vigilantes. Perfect for Q, who would prefer to stay away from the city, and topics surrounding it, for as long as possible.
I Know Why The Caged Bat Can't Sing by AshWinterGray (Tim Drake-centric, Oliver/Felicity as a side pairing, 16/16, 2022-05-20) - Living on the Earth now deemed ""New Earth"" by the Bats, Tim has to adjust to having a family slightly different than his old one. But things aren't nearly that simple. Huntress, Powerwoman, and Powerman were but the first to come from their Earth, and now Tim finds himself trapped in a plot he had hoped would never come to be. Secrets not even Tim fully understands come to light, and the Bats find the need to separate in order to properly piece the puzzle together, but it means putting each of them at risk, and every step they take can lead to a trap that could cost their lives. Or their sanity. Perhaps Dick's insistence that Tim make friends wasn't so misplaced after all.
Reasons Wretched and Divine by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 2/2, 2022-05-28) - When Oliver came to him and asked if he wanted to go on The Gambit for Robert’s trip, he’d said no. Barry has school to think about and he’s not about to intrude on a Father-Son outing with the Queens. He’s learned how to judge what trips he should go on. So, he says no. Tommy isn’t going and it's a trip to Hong Kong for actual business so obviously Barry has no reason to be there as Robert’s stand-in buddy or whatever. It’s not until Oliver looks at him and says, “I fucked up Bear.” Then proceeds to go into horrible detail about all the things he’s done to blow up his relationship with Laurel that Barry agrees to come. Oliver is hurting and while it's his own damn fault, Barry’s job has always been to be there for him. Even when it breaks his own heart. [Alternatively: AN AU of my AU where Oliver doesn't kiss Barry, which leads him to join Oliver on The Gambit]
Don't You Know Who I Used To Be? by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 8/8, 2022-05-27) - When he returns he brings the weight of grief as well as a motorcycle that’s black, sleek, and seems like it belongs in a car magazine and not the parking garage of their building. Barry tells her very quietly one day, “The bike, it's a Ducati. It was Oliver's. We- We used to ride it on days he didn’t drink. One time, I bribed him to come to one of his mother’s parties by telling him I’d learn to ride it. I was so upset about it. The party sucked so much I really didn’t want to learn." It's the first time he cries in front of her and Barry is 6 feet tall but he looks so small at that moment. All Iris can do is be there for him, holding his hand and it’s devastating and feels like she’s been thrown into water that’s far too deep to swim in but afterwards Barry thanks her so quietly she thinks she might have dreamed it. [Alternatively: Barry Allen through the years in the eyes of the people that love, or have grown to love him.]

So I finished the original run of Bombshells and since I enjoyed this series a whole lot, I figured I’d give a kind of review before diving into Bombshells United! Obviously this is going to be full of spoilers.
Things I LOVED:
The ART! The art is so gorgeous in this comic!!
The costumes. These 30s/40s era costumes look so amazing, it’s such a visually beautiful comic, I mean holy shit!
Though the “we gotta go back to WWII to punch Nazis!” will be on list 2, I gotta hand it to this one that at least they actually center Jewish characters in this narrative. Kate Kane. Felicity Smoak being introduced as a Batgirl here. Mary as Shazam as an explicitely Jewish character. Putting a Jewish narrative onto this instead of just “Goyim American goes to punch Nazis to make white Americans feel good about themselves”. Seriously, this is a much more enjoyable take on this overdone Hollywood trope than the majority of others
A nearly exclusively female-led comic series! It’s so refreshing to see them front and center and to see many women front and center, at that, because even female-led properties usually have more men in them than women, so this team-up of famous female characters is amazing
The AMOUNT of wlw representation in this comic! There are so many wlw ships canon in this series, seriously if you want to see super-ladies loving ladies, you would be a fool to miss out on this comic!
Harley/Ivy is so adorable and amazing in this, it is definitely one of my favorite HarlIvy versions
Hawkgirl/Vixen? That’s not a ship I knew I needed in my life??
CONSTANTINE/ZATANNA!!! They’re one of my favorite DC m/f ships and they are not just canon here, they are so soft and they adopt Raven, that is an amazing family
I actually appreciate Steve Trevor’s arc of PTSD struggle and healing. Usually his war experiences are kind of... brushed aside after Diana is introduced to instead focus on her and though I love that most characters are women, I like that he, as one of the few men, actually got an arc and focus and not brushed aside
Kara and Courtney as sisters? Supergirl and Stargirl were so good together? I loved that so much?? Where can I get more of this?
MERA. MERA IS AMAZING!!! I’ve always ever only met her as “Arthur’s wife”, seriously most comics that featured her just shorthanded her as The GirlfriendTM and she did nothing more than be Arthur’s girlfriend. To see her as a powerful hero and queen and to have story focus on her is so great and I now love her greatly!
John Constantine can turn into a bunny in this. It’s silly but oh my gods he is a cute lil smoking bun-bun and I love him so much
Things I HATED:
Yet another “we gotta go back to WWII to go to Nazi Germany and punch Nazis!” narrative. Trying to cut the lengthy rant I have about this trope very short; it always seems incredibly tasteless to me considering this actually happened and real people died and suffered, but let’s play pretend where you, the American, are the great hero who saves them. Never mind how these power-hero-fantasies are never set in the US to deal with one of their own awful atrocities, they always gotta go somewhere else and play savior where someone else is The Bad Guy that they can punch. And this one, in particular, is such an overused American power-hero-fantasy
Vixen is so whitewashed like she is so whitewashed. Sure, I’m sure there are lighter skinned African people too. But this is not a real person, this is a fictional character and they made a choice when taking their African born heroine and making her so incredibly light-skinned. Even just compared to other iterations of Mari McCabe, she is incredibly light-skinned, and it really rubs me the wrong way because it sure is a choice
Lois/Kara is weird? In this comic it really just feels like “we make many wlw, we give Lois a Super! But a wlw Super!!!” when there is just zero build-up. They meet and go heart-eyes, when Maggie/Lois had much much more build-up (they have spent two years raising the Batgirls together??). Never mind the choice to make Lois fall for Kara and two pages later introduce Superman, to both Kara and Lois. Clark doesn’t ever get to be with someone else in a universe where Lois is as much as alive, they always gotta kill her off to justify why Clark would ever love another woman, but Lois can deadass just meet Kara and Clark the same moment and go “nah, this time I’ll take the blonde”, that’s so dumb
As a lover of Selina Kyle, it absolutely kills me to see Selina wear a Nazi arm band and switch sides left and right to the point that I don’t really know where her loyalty lies. Also, her kissing Kate felt, much like Lois/Kara, like they’re just replacing a Bat with a Bat
The ending I hate the ending I hate the ending so much. The “hero doesn’t kill uwu” thing is already really tired but “hero doesn’t kill uwu so instead we put the villain into a vague coma they absolutely will break out of and to put her into this coma three innocent people have to die”, I’m sorry but no, even one sacrifice would have been too much, but to go “we’ll actually kill three innocent people! to save this evil Überlord” is ridiculous - and it is made much more ridiculous by being Kara’s mom, Kara’s dad and the father of Kara’s sister, said sister being the only character in the entire series to die up to that point. It’s really “let’s hurt Kara” time, huh? And said sister also died in a heroic sacrifice. I’m sorry but how does this narrative teach that killing is bad and you are a good person for not killing because fucking kill that villain so your parents can live??? Your own parents? It’s not even just saving random strangers - and I’d argue that any hero should rather kill the villain than let an innocent die - but to make it your own entire family? What the fuck?

Happy Mancrush Monday!
/that's me both peeking in through the window and waving like a dork ;) What was supposed to be a little break from social media turned into a more than two month sabbatical. 2020 has been a challenging and difficult year in so many ways. I hope all of you are doing the best that you can be and taking care of yourselves. I’ve been missing Olicity and my Olicity family something fierce! <3
Today is the 8th anniversary of the day Olicity was created by the undeniable chemistry between SA and EBR.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that EBR was only supposed to be in this one episode?!? Can we take another moment to appreciate that SA reacted instinctively to her adorableness and actually broke character?!?!?
Can we take all the moments to appreciate that from this one moment came 8 years of moments that showcased the epic love story of Oliver Jonas Queen and Felicity Megan Smoak?!?
I may not be a fan of certain decisions TPTB made in regard to our beautiful OTP who deserved so much better but I can appreciate that they changed the trajectory of the whole show and ended the entire series with an Olicity moment!
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. -- Dr. Seuss
Some of my best moments have been as part of this fandom and they are now treasured memories. Always. xoxo

Becoming My Own Hero-Olicity & Robstar Crossover Fic
Ight. I’m making this the go to place to find alllllllll the links to my story because tumblr has this astounding ability to make my story impossible to find. Even using my own hashtag I have difficulty finding it!
So here we go. The links to all 7 chapters of Becoming My Own Hero:
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7
Full Synopsis:
Oliver Queen Felicity Smoak had a daughter named Star Gabrielle Queen. On the night of her 8th birthday, her life changes forever. She is kidnapped by ARGUS and is recruited by Amanda Waller to protect the earth from Aliens, like Superman. But the genetic mutation she undergoes makes her stronger than they thought. To hide their mistake, they send her to her home planet Tamaran. Years later, the Justice League needs help from the Titans. The Titans head to Star City to assist in taking down a greater enemy, but how will Starfire handle being home after 11 years of being away, and her family believing that she would never come back?
This is a slow moving story. If you can tell by the publish date, I’ve been working on this for 3 years. A lot has happened that I haven’t been able to keep up with this story, but I’m trying to do better.
I hope you guys enjoy this story and my latest chapter!
As always, Happy Reading!
Chapter 7
Trained Pt.2
I can’t believe this is happening
For as long as Robin could remember he’d always had some sort of attraction to Starfire. Don’t get him wrong, its undeniable that she is this beautiful person, but standing there with his arms around her, deepening their ‘first’ kiss was blinding. He hadn’t truly realized how much he cared about her, how much she means to him, how much this could ruin everything.
What if they broke up? Would she still be his friend? Would she leave the Titans and never come back? Would she go home!?
Robin abruptly pulls back, allowing his doubts to control him, and puts Starfire at arm’s length. Starfire gives him a hurt expression and steps away from him, wrapping her arms around herself.
“Richard?”
He opens his mouth to say something, anything, but nothing comes out. He’s standing there like a fish out of water.
Starfire feels her whole world come crashing down.
How could he…I’m so stupid.
Not waiting for the ‘we’re teammates and shouldn’t date’ conversation, she turns her back on him and reaches for the elevator button. Once it reaches the ground floor she walks inside and finally turns to face a grief stricken Robin.
“I do understand why you wear the mask; you’re eyes tell a story the different than the actions. Night, Robin.”
The doors to the elevator closes and she lets her tears fall freely knowing he will never understand how much he hurt her tonight.
Down in the garage, Robin beats himself up for allowing Batman to continue to dictate his life.
“Dammit!” Robin punches the wall of the garage and immediately regrets it. He crumples back in pain, his hand throbbing. He can already feel the bruise spreading across his hand, creating deep shades of purple. But he doesn’t care. He finally had the opportunity to be happy for once in his life and he chose to listen to his hero side while standing there as Richard.
What did I do?
--------------------------
Gotham 1996
“Mr. Wayne,” Bruce looks up from his desk taking note of his PR lady, whose name he can’t seem to remember; Rebecca? Leslie? “The press is ready for you.”
Bruce stands up from his desk, straightens his tie, and checks his hair one last time in his cabinet mirror before leaving his office with…Vickie, Vickie Vale!
“Thank you, Ms. Vale. Lead the way.” He smirks and winks at her, knowing how his charm needs to be on full blast for what he’s about to do. He gestures for her to walk out of his office first and follows behind, adjusting his cufflinks as they make theie way to the conference room.
The large windowed room held Gotham’s top reporters from: Gotham Gazzett, Channel 9, The Gotham Times, and Gotham News Network. The first wave of flashes startled Bruce, it’s been many years since he was exposed to the media, and having all these news stations here today is jarring compared to his secluded life back in Nada Parbat.
“Mr. Wayne, is it true you are the Batman?”
“Mr. Wayne, did cha’ really crash your new Bentley?”
“Mista Wayne, are you single?”
Bruce takes a deep breath, allowing himself to adjust back to his playboy swagger; concealing the person whom only a select few know. He opens his arms wide and smiles dazzlingly to the press, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I understand my disappearance has been hard on everyone in Gotham, especially the single ladies.” He winks at Vickie again, making her blush, and continues, “I know my families influence in Gotham is important. And for that, I am apologetic. But there is reason for my disappearance.
“Since the death of my beloved parents, Martha and Thomas Wayne, I’ve always wanted to discover if I had family elsewhere.” Bruce moves across the room, passing the large wooden table in the center of the room, and leans against the glass windows looking down to the city below. He can clear as day see all the destruction his absence has caused in such a short period of time. The thought sending a deep blow to his gut, knowing he chose to leave, but wished there was someone who could have kept Gotham free from evil.
Bruce looks back to the press, taking note they are waiting for him to continue.
“I went across seas to search for a missing relative on my father’s side. My butler, Alfred Pennyworth, had informed me of a long lost niece.” The crowd of reporter gasping at the new discovery. “I’ve brought her here today for you all to meet her. Her name is Gabrielle Wayne.” On cue, Alfred walks into the room pushing a black stroller and stops in front of Bruce.
“If you’d like to take a photo of my niece, please turn the flash off. It can harm a baby’s eyes. She’s only a few weeks old.”
Gently, Bruce reaches into the stroller to pick up Star and holds her in his arms. The room stills at the sight of the new Wayne child. No one never thought the Wayne bloodline would continue considering Bruce’s relations with women has never lead to a serious relationship.
“Excuse me, Mr. Wayne.” A young brunette woman from the Gotham Gazette pushes herself through the crowd of reporters. “Gloria with Gotham Gazette, what are your plans for taking care of Gabrielle? Will Alfred be her primary caretaker or will you be heiring a nanny?”
Bruce smiles down at Star as she stares back at him, a small giggle escaping her. “Alfred and I will be responsible for her. If I do need additional assistance, it will be taken care of in private. Gabrielle deserves to live a relatively normal life.”
Gloria reaches her tape recorder out further to Bruce, “Follow-up question: How can you raise a child in a dangerous city such as Gotham? With the rise of the Falcone crime family, and unrest in the deep underground of Gotham, how can you guarantee her safety?”
“Excellent question, Gloria.” Bruce shifts Star in his arms, moving her to rest her head against his shoulder. “Given my new status as her guardian, it will be my top priority to protect her at all cost. With that being said, today I will be announcing the charity event I will be hosting for GCPD. We will be holding an auction to raise money for the police department and expanding their crime division to include metahuman training. In our ever changing world, we must be prepared for the impossible.”
“Final question Mr. Wayne. How does it feel knowing Oliver Queen is alive and well?” Bruce’s mind goes blank realizing he’s been gone far longer than Oliver has been back in Star City. He feigns shock, “O-Oliver is alive? Since when?”
“He was discovered on an island in the North China sea about two years ago, Mr. Wayne.” Gloria supplies. “Why are you unaware of the sudden reappearance of your long-time friend, Oliver Queen?”
Alfred clears his voice, the attention of the media shifting from Bruce to Alfred. “Master Wayne did not have access to the news overseas, he spent his time searching for his belove niece.”
Gloria scrunches her eyebrows in confusion and pushes forward, “Sir, it’s 1996. The media is everywhere. I find it hard to believe Mr. Wayne was unaware of Oliver’s reappearance.”
Bruce’s jaw locks in a straight line, “Gloria, please understand. If I weren’t overly set on finding my niece, leading to deep parts of Europe where there was hardly an internet café, I would have been in Star City when he arrived home. Trust me when I say, he’s like a brother to me.”
Gloria raises a brow at his claim, still seeing through the holes of his story.
I’ll find out the truth later…
Star becomes restless in Bruce’s arms. He rocks her gently but it doesn’t seem to be calming her down. He casts a slightly panicked look at Alfred who gestures to her stroller. The media watches as Bruce kisses the top of Star’s head, a few camera shutters going off, and he sets Star back into her stroller. He buckles the small black belt across her chest and between her chubby little legs. Almost instantly she starts to nod off, cooing softly. Bruce smiles down at her and places a light blue knitted blanket over her legs. Alfred steps forward to take her back out of the room.
Bruce turns back to the group of people and they are all silent in awe if this new Bruce Wayne.
“Gloria,” Her attention snapping to him, realizing she was entranced by his care as a new father. “I’m grateful my friend is alive and well; I’ll have to check up on him at some point in the future. Until then, thank you all for coming here today to share in this great day. I look forward to mingling will you all at the GCPD Charity event.” Bruce waves to them as he leaves the room, ignoring the onslaught of questions being hurtled his way as he backs out of the room and heads back down where he once came.
Out in the hallway, Vicki Vale walks ahead of Bruce, her maroon heels clicking against the marble floors. He can feel himself releasing a slow breath. This was a journey he never envisioned for himself. He never thought he’d take on such an important responsibility without much thought. This wasn’t like him. But the second he met Star, he knew he needed to protect her at all costs.
He knew it was time to reach back into the Bruce he shut off a long time ago, the young man who didn’t know his purpose in life. The young man who lost everything he cared for and became a playboy that he knew his parents would be disappointed in. The young man that shut himself off from anyone who cared for him and pushed them away. He needs that innocent, vulnerable part of himself back for this new challenged.
He needed to be Bruce, not Bruce Wayne.

Titans Tower 2012
Starfire lays in bed tossing and turning all night until the first peak of light start to sneak its way into dawn. Starfire growls at the ball of fire that typically greats her happily each day, but after last night, she wanted to be left alone.
She felt a new wave of tears gather in her eyes thinking about last night’s events. Why had Robin pushed her away? Why did she think it could be easy? Why does this human boy have such a hold on her heart?
“Richard…” she sighs into her pillow, hugging it close to her chest. She wants nothing more than to be with him. The feeling of his arms wrapped tightly around her, making her feel safe. The taste of his lips still ever present even hours later. And his eyes, he trusted her enough to show her who he was. And that’s what hurts the most. Robin was so vulnerable with her but pulled away.
What is wrong with boys…
A subtle knock on her door gains her attention. She scrunches her brows in confusion, knowing no one would be up at this ungodly hour besides her. Starfire always rises with the sun, wanting to take in the first few rays to power her through the day. But today was the opposite, she wanted her room to keep the light out. She wants to be alone and bask in the darkness her curtains can provide her.
The knock comes again more urgently, “Star, we really need to talk. I fucked up bad.”
Starfire stills hearing Robin’s voice ring through her door. Why does he think he can pull a stunt like he did last night and not expect any consequences for his actions? Does he expect Starfire to accept an apology and be happy he finally acted on his feelings for her?
He knocks again.
“Star? Please, open the door.” The desperation in his voice was enough to make her eyes roll. Starfire huffs in frustration and weighs her options. It’s either deal with this now or have the entire team butting in when they are trying to hash it out. That thought alone was enough for Starfire to sit up in bed and make her way to her floor length mirror.
Starfire runs her fingers through her hair and checks herself in the mirror. She’s wearing shorts and a string tank top, nothing too risqué, but enough to short circuit any teenaged boys’ mind. She walks over to the door to unlock it, letting it swish open revealing an equally tired Robin.
“Hello, Robin.” Starfire turns away from him and walks back over to her bed, not bothering to wait for him to reply. She hears him clear his throat and step into her room, letting the door swish close behind him. She doesn’t bother to look up at him; she didn’t want him to see how much he hurt her.
“Star—I.” he stops just short of her bed, keeping a friendly distance between them, but close enough that he can still reach out to her.
“You what? You have the regrets? If that is so, please do the leaving. I rather save myself the humiliation.” She crosses her arms and huffs, her hair slightly flaming at the ends.
Robins sighs, already feeling defeated. He spent the last three hours trying to find the right words to express himself, but he’s never really been in a relationship with anyone before. Barbara doesn’t count too much. They were only 14 and she ended up having feelings for someone at their high school.
“May I sit?” He gestures to the space next to her on the bed. He’s never asked permission before, he’s always felt comfortable enough around Star to be there with her, but now everything was different. Her bed didn’t seem oh-so innocent anymore. If anything, it made him very much aware her pajamas cover very little of her.
Her green eyes are sharp and sizing him up, “You may.”
Shaking away all impure thoughts running through his head, Robin sits down next to Starfire on the bed, turning to take her hands in his. “Star, I didn’t mean to push you away last night. I was—” he pauses feeling Starfire pull her hands from his slowly. Robin feels panic settle in his chest for a moment.
Oh god, she doesn’t even want me to touch her anymore.
Tentatively, she touches the corner of his mask, silently asking permission to remove it. Robin sighs in relief and nods, understanding why she wants it off. He has nothing left to hide from her; he’s ready to be open and honest with someone for the first time in years.
Her fingers are soft against his cheek as she gently pulls at the mask, letting it fall to the ground next to her bed. She brushes her thumb against his cheek before dropping her hands to her lap again.
“You may proceed.”
“What I was going to say is that I was—I was scared, Star.” He stares at her with his intense blue eyes, the fear showing bright within them. “All these negative thoughts of what could happen if this doesn’t work out came rushing all at once, and I-“ Robin takes a deep breath, trying to steady his voice. “You’re the last person I want to lose. I’ve already lost too many people I care about.”
Starfire sits there in silence allowing Robin’s words to hang between them. She can see the panicked expression settling across his face. His hold on her hands starts to loosen, but she’s quick to tighten the hold, preventing him from fleeing again.
“Ouch.”
Starfire is confused by his sudden pain and looks down to look at his hand.
“Oh! Richard, what did you do?!” she examines his right hand, running her delicate finger over the deep purple bruise, touching it tenderly to feel for any broken bones. He hisses when she touches the darker stain across his knuckles.
“Ah, yeah. I sorta punch the garage wall last night after you left. I was angry because I still let—” Robin realizes what he was about to say and freezes.
“I am the confused, who are you allowing to do the controlling of you?” Starfire asks as she stands from the bed and goes to her adjoining bathroom for a first aid kit from under the sink. She settles back on her bed, close enough that her knee brushes his thigh.
Robin frowns, “I-my adoptive father. He’s…you don’t know about my family, do you?” Robins asks. Starfire frowns. Of course she knows who Robin’s adoptive father is. It’s her uncle, but Robin doesn’t know that she has her memories back yet.
She’ll have to pretend not to know. But then again, Bruce Wayne is a very public figure…
Feigning confusion Starfire shakes her head, “No, I am unaware of your k’norfka.” She continues to rifle through the first aid kit trying to find a disposable ice pack.
Robin flexes his fingers, feeling the pain radiate through his fingers. “Let’s just say he’s a very public figure and the reason why I have to keep my identity hidden, if they know who I am-“
“Then they will have the knowledge of whom the Batman is.” Starfire looks up to meet Robin’s eyes. She can see the sadness embedded deep within, but she still can’t shake the fact he rejected her last night.
Breaking eye contact, Star pulls the ice pack from the kit and breaks it, letting the beans cool up. She takes hold of Robin’s hand and gently lays the ice pack on his hand.
Robin hisses at the weight of the ice pack, but then relaxes once the cool pack starts to numb his hand from the pain.
“Thanks.” He smiles at her making her heart jump, seeing his eyes crinkle at the corner and the warmth radiating from them.
He really cares for me…
Starfire shifts closer to him, positioning his hand on her thigh, and takes a small pack of pain medication from the kit and hands it to Robin. When he doesn’t reach for them, Starfire looks at him quizzically; confused by his distracted state.
“Richard?”
“Hm.” His eyes are still focused on his hand resting against her thigh. The warmth seeping its way from his hand through his veins.
“Here, take the medication of pain.” He open his hand, accepting the pack of pills. Her hand grazes his, a soft brush of her fingers against his gloveless palm. It sends a small spark to his heart, and he can see Starfire is just as affected when she doesn’t retract her hand right away.
Feeling brave, letting his fears go and taking responsibility for his actions, Robin closes his hand around hers. “For a long time, I let him dictate what I could and couldn’t do. And sometimes that younger, more obedient version of myself overclouds my judgment and I make poor decisions.”
Robin releases Starfire’s hand, letting the packet of pills drop to her bed, and reaches to cup her face. At first she freezes, unsure where this conversation is going, fearful he may reject her again. But when his thumb brushes her cheek tenderly, she leans more into him, accepting the small comfort he is offering her.
“When we formed the Titans, I didn’t want to be the version of myself I was before I came to Jump City. This isn’t Gotham, the threats aren’t the same and the people aren’t the same. I had to become a different type of hero for those kinds of people because there’s hope here.” He smiles lightly, making Starfire smile in return. “ This city isn’t on the brink of destruction; sure there’s been plenty of villains attempting to take over, but the five of us are able to keep them at bay. Each and every single one of us is able to not only protect one another, but ourselves.
“I guess, what I’m trying to say is: I’m afraid of something happening to you. To all of you, but I can’t let that fear dictate my happiness. I know you can handle any situation, but I still can’t help that small voice that tells me otherwise. I trust you Starfire, and I trust that us, together, can work.”
The only sound in the room was the distant rumble of waves hitting the island rocks down below. Could he really mean it? Does he…does he really want to be with her?
Starfire’s eyes widen at his words, “Richard, I do not want to do the reading of the words, but are you—are you asking me…?
The ice pack on Robin’s hand plops to the bed as he moves his hand up her thigh, causing a slight blush to cross her cheeks. He moves up her side, grazing it softly, feeling the soft fabric of the tank top against his hand. As he reaches her shoulder, he inches his face closer to hers before his hand finds home threading slowly through her long auburn locks. Starfire can feel her skin burning from where his hand traveled, leaving a wake of gooseflesh bubbling her sun kissed skin.
Just like the night before, the magnetic pull between the two was undeniable. Starfire rests her head against Robin’s, “Do you promise not to do the freak out again if we have the lip contact?”
Robin chuckles deep in his throat, “I won’t. Not this time.” He brushes a strand of hair away from her face, “I’m all in if you are.”
Wrapping her arms around his shoulder’s, Starfire pulls Robin towards her as she lays down against the pillows, leaving him hovering over her. Robin gazes at her warmly finally feeling content.
Her green eyes glowing bright with glee as she drags him closer to her again. Their bodies flush together, and her hand weaving its way into his hair. His injured hand rests against her hip and the other cups the side of her face. He tilts his head down allowing their lips to brush lightly as Starfire’s hand caresses the side of Robin’s face.
“I very much am, Richard.” She whispers against his lips and gives him a slow, chaste kiss before pulling back completely, watching Robin’s eyes open slowly. A smile spreads across his face making Starfire giggle in return.
“But—“ her face taking on a serious look, making Robin squirm. “—If you do the pulling of the yesterday events, I will not have the pleasantries for you once more. You have the understanding?”
Robin visibly gulps, his Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat. “I promise, Star.”
She smiles brightly and gives him another slow kiss. This one sending waves of happiness through the young alien.
“What are we going to tell the others?” Robin asks as he pulls back and reluctantly untangles himself from Starfire. He lays down next to her on the bed, propping himself against the soft purple pillows.
Starfire moves to her side facing him and takes his hand in hers, lacing their fingers together. Will they be upset? Will they celebrate? Should they keep it a secret for now?
Starfire’s train of thought is cut short by Robin’s hand slowly grazing up her side, sending shivers down her spine. She find herself cuddling closer to him, allowing his arm to wrap around her fully.
I can definitely get used to this.
Feeling more and more comfortable Starfire feels herself succumbing to her exhaustion.
“I do believe—” She lets out a yawn and blinks her eyes sleepily. “—it is the problem for later. I did not have pleasant shlorvax last night.” She yawns again, emphasizing her tired state and snuggles closer to Robin’s warm body. Robin shifts to lay on his back, leaving room for Starfire to rest her head on his shoulder and her arms to wrap around his waist.
Sleepily, Robin yawns as well, feeling the events of the past few hours finally catching up to him.
“Sounds good to me.” He whispers, feeling his eyes grow heavy.
“Pleasant shlorvax, Richard.” She kisses the underside of his jaw and falls into peaceful sleep. He wraps his arm tighter around her waist, pulling her closer to him, and drags the blanket over the both of them.
“Night, Star.”

Starling City 1996
Felicity finds herself wander down the long winding staircase of the foundry. Her still protruding belly stretching her black knit sweater uncomfortably as she waddles down the stairs. She can hear the grunts of someone working out on the gym mats and the sound of keys being clicked on her keyboard. The thought alone sends Felicity to waddle down the stairs at a brisk pace, making her shoes thump against the hard concrete floor.
“Who the hell is touching my keyboard? Is it Roy? How many times have I told you not to touch—”
“Felicity!?” John Diggle shoots up from her desk chair as Felicity approaches. She does a double take to see she’s really seeing who she thinks it is.
“Dig?” She says in disbelief. The past year has been extremely hard on Felicity and finally coming home, but without her love and daughter, she didn’t think anyone would be down here.
Diggle wipes a tired hand down his face and lets out a short laugh that could pass as a choked sob. “You’re okay? Really?” He looks down her body. She looks paler than usual, her hair showing her dark roots and her belly, hanging low. This catches Diggle’s attention immediately.
His eyes widen, “Are you pregnant?”
Felicity bites her lip, knowing this was not how she wanted to tell Dig she and Oliver had a child together. She thought it’d be like when Sara was born. All of them huddled in a hospital room wanting to take a turn holding Star in their arms. They’d take their first Team Arrow photo together. But Ra’s took that from her, from them.
Felicity presses a hand to her bulging stomach, he lips quivers from the onslaught of emotions facing through her.
“I was pregnant, Dig. Oliver and I—” her voice cracks and the damn breaks. Diggle pulls her into a tight hug, wishing he could take all the pain away. She sobs into his chest, wishing Oliver and Star were there with her.
After a few moments, Felicity steps back and wipes away the tears with her black sleeve. She sniffles as she walks over to her forgotten computer desk and sits down in her chair. The chair where she watched Oliver for hours using the salmon ladder. Where she and Oliver would talk about their future together, how they both wanted a family…
And now she sits there alone.
“Dig.” Her voice rough from tears. “We need to help Oliver get out of the league, no matter how long it takes. I need my family back.”
Diggle nods in understanding. If it were Lyla and Sara on the line, he’d be raising hell to get them back.
Felicity begins her research on Ra’s al Ghul in order to develop a plan to bring down the League of Shadows. She starts by listing anyone and everyone that is in association with the league:
Sara Lance, Malcom Merlin, Maseo, Talia al ghul, Nyssa al Ghul, Star Queen...
The last name catches Diggle off guard, “Felicity, whose Star Queen?”
Her fingers stop moving on the keyboard and turns to him sadly, “That’s our daughter’s name. Star Queen.”
Diggle feels his throat tighten realizing this baby girl is stuck in one of the scariest places on Earth. Why would Felicity leave her there? Why not bring her back?
“Before you ask, I did not have a choice.” She looks up at the celling of the foundry her eyes growing wet once more. “She had to stay and be inducted to the league as an heir. They took my baby from me Dig, my baby.”
Diggle places a comforting hand on Felicity’s shoulder. Not truly knowing how to comfort her in this situation. How could he? His wife and child are safe at home, far away from these kinds of monsters that Oliver and Felicity find themselves fighting against.
“Yo, Dig!” Roy bellows from the training mats. “Did you see the news? Bruce Wayne is back in Gotham. And he has a kid!” Roy comes barreling in from the sparring mats, sweat dripping down his face. He takes a good look at the small blonde perched in her usual seat. Roy stops short of the med table, the shock overwhelming him before he rushes at her, and engulfs her into a big hug.
“Felicity, is it really you?!” Roy asks in disbelief. How is it possible that she is back? It’s been almost a year since she and Oliver went to Nada Parbat to resurrect Thea. Thea came home right away and told them how Oliver had to stay to be the Heir to the Demon Head. And Felicity was subjected to stay, but did not understand why. But standing there, taking in Felicity’s appearance, it wasn’t tough for Roy to put two and two together.
“That’s why you stayed. You were pregnant…Where’s the-?”
“Roy.” Dig says warningly.
Felicity looks away from them, feeling her throat tighten. She clenches and unclenches her firsts trying to control her emotions, but post-partum has already kicked in and she couldn’t help the few tears that fell.
“She is safe.” She whispers. Roy steps forward and wraps his arms around her again, giving her a tight hug. Felicity reacts immediately feeling safe in her friend’s arms. Roy was always like a younger brother to her, and she missed him terribly for the year she was gone.
But why did Roy come in here again?
“Bruce Wayne is back in Gotham. And he has a kid!”
Felicity abruptly pulls back from Roy and swings her chair back around to face her desktop. She rapidly types in a series of codes and brings up the local news.
“Good Morning, Starling City. I’m Summer Gleeson and here’s Today’s breaking news. Billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne has returned to Gotham City after being gone for nearly 7 years. Not only is his reappearance suspicious, but he has a child! Before you all lose your hats, here’s the dish. Our sources at the Wayne conference earlier today confirm that it is a long lost niece on Bruce’s father’s side. Here is the first look at the new baby of Gotham, Gabrielle Wayne!”
The tv cuts to the press briefing at Wayne Enterprises. They watch as Bruce makes this grand speech before Alfred rolls in a stroller.
Felicity feels her chest beat fast as she realizes what is happening.
“Oh, frack.”
Diggle looks questioningly to Felicity before watching the screen once more.
“…her name is Gabrielle Wayne.”
“That’s my baby…” Felicity sobs, clutching at her still round belly.
Roy’s eyes widen, “Why would Bruce Wayne…”
“Oliver, this was the plan he didn’t tell me about. But I don’t think he thought Bruce would be so public…” Felicity’s voice drifts as she watches her baby girl giggle on screen, bringing a smile to her tear streaked face.
A warm hand lands on her shoulder and she leans her head against it. “She’s beautiful, Felicity.” Diggle gave her shoulder a squeeze letting her know he’s here for her and ready to take on whatever it take to bring her home.
With a renewed feeling of ambition. Felicity takes a deep breath, sits up in her chair, and squares her shoulders, causing Diggle’s hand to fall away.
“So,” Roy steps forward to lean against the desk, facing Diggle and Felicity. “What’s the plan, boss.”
Felicity smiles for the first time in months, feeling hope after all the darkness she was exposed to for 9 months.
“We’re getting them back.” She reaches out to take Diggle’s and Roy’s hands. She needed their team to get this done. They will need all the help they can get to bring Oliver and Star home.
“Let’s get to work.”

Begin Again (an Olicity fic)
Can’t sleep so figured I might as well finally post this. It’s my Olicity Clue fic.
Summary: Oliver sacrificed himself for the universe and what does he get? Well... to be fair, he got a really peaceful private purgatory that he could manipulate at will, but still. He’s alone and bored and missing his family. That is, until the portal opens.
Read on AO3
###
He couldn’t say with any amount of certainty how long he’d been there for, but what Oliver could say is that this so-called paradise dimension wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
To be fair, it wasn’t the worst place he’d ever been. In fact, it was probably the most peaceful place he could imagine. It could be, well, whatever he wanted it to be. His childhood home, the cabin he and Felicity had lived in when Mia was born. The beach in Bali where he’d first realized he wanted to propose. The trouble was, in this place, no matter where he was he would always be alone. At least until Felicity found him, which, knowing her, would happen eventually, but time passed strangely in this dimension. He didn’t know if he’d been gone three days or thirty years. And, so, Oliver Queen was bored.
And lonely. But mostly bored.
His life had been so action packed he’d thought this would be almost like a retirement of sorts. A relief after everything he’d been through. A gift for the sacrifices he’d made. But now he just wished the Monitor had left him with something to do. Some mission or task that needed to be done. Anything.
At first he tried to keep himself busy. Working out, exploring different places. Hell, he’d even tried to create some crossword puzzles to solve, but manifesting your own crossword puzzle is… a lot less fun than doing the one in the Sunday paper. And the fact that Oliver Queen thought crosswords could be fun was just another testament to how boring paradise could be.
That was, until the first portal opened.
At first he thought that this might be it. This might be Felicity coming to find him. But no one ever came through.
Then a while later another opened and then another. No one ever came through and nothing ever appeared or changed. They didn’t happen frequently or last very long, but they were consistent. Always popping up in the same place. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to follow them or ignore them and, not for the first time, he wished the Monitor had left him with some sort of instructions.
Eventually, his curiosity, and boredom, got the better of him.
Walking up to the portal, one that looked an awful lot like one of Cisco’s, Oliver reached his arm through. It was surprisingly cold on the other side. The always perfect temperature of his paradise made it all the more startling a sensation. That in itself made up Oliver’s mind.
“I’m already dead,” he muttered to himself. “What could it hurt?”
And with that, he stepped through into whatever unknown awaited him.
###
The first breath was painful.
Way more painful than it should be, which was strange considering he’d found himself standing on a rooftop in the open night air. It was cold, but not cold enough to burn his lungs, and yet there he was huffing like he’d just run a marathon. He bent over, placing his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath, his clothes tightening and bunching around his waist in a way he hadn’t felt in… forever.
His suit. He was wearing his leather suit.
“Who the hell are you?” a voice demanded, and Oliver looked up to see a man in a robe standing beside a pool. The man gave him a once over, taking in his bent, wheezing form. “And what’s wrong with you?”
Oliver blinked, trying to work out who the man was and what was going on, but before he could blood burst from the man’s chest and he fell head first into the pool. Reacting on instinct, Oliver darted for cover behind a bar just as another bullet pinged off the wall behind him. Careful not to peek his head out of cover, he looked around knowing the sniper was on the roof across the street. He spotted the gleam of a gun just as another bullet pinged off the bar, ricocheting and grazing his arm.
Suddenly, Oliver knew exactly where he was.
This was the rooftop of James Holder’s penthouse apartment, which meant the sniper had to be Floyd Lawton. Which also meant that the bullet that had just grazed his arm was laced with curare.
The portal had somehow taken him back to 2012.
###
The first thing Oliver did was get back to the lair and crush up some of his herbs before he inevitably passed out from the curare. And once he woke up, the second thing he did was try to figure out a way to determine if this was real.
He could have finally snapped from loneliness. But he’d seen James Holder and he’d been shot by Floyd Lawton. And if they were here, even if they were only his delusion, then Felicity might also be here. And if she was, then he had to find her.
And he knew exactly where she’d be. The only problem was, if this was real, he hadn’t met her yet. She didn’t know him, or know that they were married. Hell, they weren’t married. But if this was only a delusion, couldn’t it be whatever he wanted? Maybe he could go home and she’d just be there, waiting for him. And if it was real… Well.
If it was real then maybe this was a second chance.
A tiny kernel of excitement took hold in his chest as he realized the true implications of that second possibility. He could change things. He could change anything he wanted. He could be with Felicity from the start. He could save Tommy.
He could save his mom.
If this was real, then she was here. His mom was at home right now, with Thea. All he had to do was get dressed and go see them.
So that’s what he did.
###
Oliver’s heart sped up as he pushed open the door to the mansion. He hadn’t been here in so long. He’d stayed in his Earth-2 counterpart’s home for a few days, but that wasn’t the same. That wasn’t his home, or his mother. But this…
It was exactly as he remembered. It even smelled the same. The slight hint of lemon from the wood polish that Raisa liked to use on the furniture.
“Oliver, sweetheart?” His mother’s voice drifted in from the right and he felt his breath catch. “Is that you?”
“Yeah.” He cleared his throat. “Yeah, Mom, it’s me.”
Moira turned the corner, stopping in her tracks when she saw him. Concern swept over her face, and she hurried over. “Oliver, what’s wrong? What happened?”
It wasn’t until that moment that Oliver realized he’d started crying. He shot her a smile and wiped at his eyes. “Everything’s fine, I’m just…” He grinned wider. “I’m just really happy to be home. I missed you.”
Her expression softened and her own eyes began to water as she pulled him into a hug. “Oh my beautiful boy. I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere.”
He hugged her back, silently agreeing. He didn’t know exactly what was going on, or what that portal meant. But what he did know was that he was going to use this opportunity to change his past. And his mother’s future.
To fix the things he’d gotten wrong the first time around. His mom. Tommy. William. Emiko.
Felicity.
###
There were butterflies in his stomach.
He couldn’t help but roll his eyes at how cliche he was. He had butterflies because he was about to see his wife. You couldn’t get anymore sappy than that.
To be fair, she wasn’t technically his wife yet. She didn’t even know him, so this was, for all intents and purposes, their very first meeting. Again.
And Oliver really needed it to go well.
He had spent the better part of the morning coming up with all the ways he was going to charm Felicity, to fix the mistake he’d made by keeping her at arms length all those years. But, first, he had to get through this meeting. Probably a few more meetings, too, unfortunately. And here he was, slightly worried he was going to break down the moment he saw her.
With a sigh, Oliver stepped into her office. She was facing away from him, just like the first time. A red pen dangling from between her lips. She was beautiful and a sight for sore eyes.
“Felicity Smoak?” he said, his voice wavering just slightly.
She didn’t seem to notice, startled as she was. With a small jump, she spun in her office chair, the red pen falling from her lips as her eyes went wide.
Oliver smiled at how precisely this moment matched up with his memory of her. He was still worried that none of this was real, but it didn’t matter the moment he met her eyes. Whether this was some kind of memory or a delusion or a gift from the universe to fix his mistakes, all he knew was, he was going to make the most of it.
“Hi, I’m Oliver Queen.”
