December 14, 2024 - Bearded Tachuri (Polystictus pectoralis) These tyrant flycatchers are found in grasslands and savannas in a scattered range across northern South America and a larger range in parts of central and southeastern South America. Foraging alone, in pairs, or sometimes in mixed-species flocks, they feed on insects. Their nests are open cups made from grass, plant fibers, thistle down, and spiderwebs. Females may care for the chicks alone. They are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN due to habitat loss and degradation.

MORE GUIANAN BIRDS!!!
From my last trip to Guyana (late Feb, early March 2017), here are some bird pictures I took during this avian adventure.
The most impressive bird seen, was a fledgling of Harpy Eagle.  This young bird does not resemble the adults, but it is so big. Notice in the pictures, its talons & claws.  Amazing, no!!!
