THANK YOU 2018, NEXT!
Good bye 2018, Hello 2019!
Less than two hours before this year ends. I have to thank our good Lord for all the blessing he poured upon me, my family and my friends. He made me see life, he taught me lessons that I will store for life, he also showered me so much colourful confetti and felt them through my face. The victories and failures will totally be part of this year, ‘cause these are the sweetest. Thank God, I surpassed everything. This has been a busy year for me, I had to manage my time perfectly to meet every goal that I set. I’ve visited different places every month, I’ve witnessed different cultures, I’ve seen how beautiful this world is and gave myself time to recharge.
Basically we started the year right on January. Started to think of rewarding myself something that I dreamed of having when I was in high school on February. I rewarded myself a Fujifilm camera on March, also visited our relatives and had a quick side trip in Tagaytay City on the same month. April means summer, so we hopped on to Olongapo City to play in the biggest floating island in Asia (Inflatable Island PH) with my friends and I spent a day tour with my family in Vista Tala resort in Bataan too. It’s on my bucket list to visit a museum this year, luckily the National Museum of Natural history in Manila opened its doors publicly, I also had the chance to see the famous “Spoliarium” painting of Juan Luna, plus I tried Ice skating again at Mall of Asia. Let’s hop on to the 6th month, June. Summer never ends in this country, so a good friend and I took a long trip to San Juan, La Union which is 4+ hours away (by bus) from our place. We had an overnight stay catching good waves and sunset. That sums up a good half of the year. But stay this page cause I have to talk more of the travels I had ..
Moving on to the month of July, our relatives from the United States paid us a visit after 12 long years in America. We went on an island hopping in Coron, Palawan. I swear, it is one of beautiful places I’ve ever been. White sand beaches, preserved beautiful islands and infinite activities to do. It was my first time to snorkel, I was amazed how beautiful the life under the ocean is. We also had a quick jump off to Villa Escudero in Quezon Province in the same month.
August is my birth month, I turned 23. My friends and I flew to Singapore. We finally saw the famous Merlion, Gardens by the bay and ofcourse the Marina bay sands hotel. We extremely went on the best time of our lives and enjoyed most of the thrilling rides in Universal Studios. I swear (Battlestar galactica: Human vs Cylon and Mummy) were the best ones for me. It took my standards for theme parks really high. After Singapore, we travelled to Kuala Lumpur by bus on September. We’ve seen the current tallest twin towers (Petronas towers), Towers so silver really captivates eyes. We can’t get enough of it too.
From Local flight, to International flight, to another Local flight. This time, I left Luzon and I went to visit a huge province in Visayas. I went on a three day vacation last October in Cebu, mainly in South part. I challenged myself to try the famous Badian Canyoneering, Swim with the whale sharks in Oslob, visit the famous sand bar in Sumilon and go on City tour. I have to be proud of myself for surviving all the thrilling and sweat paving activities Cebu has given me. Indeed this province is historical truly rich in culture and tradition. Plus I’ve seen the famous Magellan’s cross and paid a visit in Sto. Nino de Cebu parish.
November took me to Tagaytay City (second time for this year) but this time it’s for a work related trip. I attended a three day seminar/training for Drug testing analyst to get a license and to allow me to perform drug test screening tests. *Hopefully I pass*. December is tiny whirlwind, I came back and forth to Manila to meet the goal I’ve wanted to meet, but unfortunately I didn’t meet the expectations. I’ve tasted salt water again in the last week of December and played again in the biggest floating island in Asia with my friends.
And that’s a whole year of travelling. Ah, I had so much travels and adventures. I couldn’t ask for more. I’m indeed thankful for this year. Truly grateful for all the experience that made me even stronger. I’m excited for what the next year will bring. For now, I have few plans to meet. But I’m praying that 2019 has so much in store for me. I pray that it’ll be life changing, I pray that it will take me to a whole new level.
As we open a new book, as we start to write down on the first pages of the three hundred sixty five leaves, may we treasure what has the previous years has taught us. May we embark new memories and challenge ourselves even more. May we empower ourselves, may we be enlightened to do better and may we embrace ourselves with positivity even more. Thou shall set the rocket to fly high and meet all the goals that we plan, all the dreams our hearts our dreaming and all the prayers that we speak. May the seed in us grow.
Let’s celebrate as we welcome a brand new year that will spark a light in guiding us. A year of light to the darkness go out of the way, a light to let the seed grow. I couldn’t wait for what 2019 has for me. May the stars align for me and may the heavens hear my prayers. To more travels, adventures, achievements, and learnings.
So where we up to next year? Do I see more passport stamp? Or Do I smell the ultimate American dream and start life abroad? Let’s see how the next year goes. “A goal without a plan is just a wish – Antoine de-Saint Exupery” I really hope and pray that the next time I’m writing down a year-ender post next year is I’m in the United States.
May all our dreams come true and may we achieve what our heart aspires. Let’s continue igniting the fire within us and never stop the fire burning! Swim deeper and fly higher! Keep soaring, Franced! Keep believing, ‘cause it takes time and courage for the cup to fill and be ready!
Thank you Lord for everything!
Thank you 2018, NEXT!
Happy New Year, Welcome 2019! Page 365/365

Liwaliw sa Liwliwa: Womanlalaboy’s travel guide to Liwliwa, Zambales
SUMMARY
Type of Travel: DIY Date of Travel: November, 2018 Duration: 2D 1N Budget: Less than P2, 000 Where we stayed at: Kapitan's Liwa
In my honest opinion, there is no better way to de-stress but to reconnect with nature. My friends and I would either go mountain climbing or have a dip at the beach. It just so happened that my workmates are all sea lovers, so it wasn't that hard to convince them to travel with me to Zambales. We were initially struck by the photos of the coves Zambales has to offer, but I was really eager to go surfing again so I insisted that we check out Liwliwa and have them experience the surfing culture as well. I'm so grateful to live in the information age as it wasn't all that hard to get details online on how to go to Liwliwa and what are the best places to check out. I got really obsessed with all the planning and was about to make my reservations, but my friends encouraged me to go all YOLO for this trip. Then off we go.
SAMPLE ITINERARY
DAY 1
7:30 AM - Meet-up at Imus, Cavite 8:00 AM - Travel from Imus to Victory Liner terminal Pasay 10:00 AM - Travel from Pasay to San Felipe 3:30 PM - Arrival at San Felipe 4:00 PM - Check-in at Kapitan's Liwa, ate at Villa Santos 4:30 PM - Photo ops at the beach 5:00 PM - Surfing 6:00 PM - Went back to Kapitan's Liwa to take a bath 7:00 PM - Had dinner at Cosmic Pares 8:00 PM - Drinking sesh at Kapitan's Liwa
DAY 2
6:30 AM - Woke up, freshen up, photo ops, socials 8:30 AM - Ate breakfast at Mommy Phoebe's 10:00 AM - Took a bath, pack up, socials 12:00 AM - Trike to San Felipe market, took a Victory Liner bus going to Olongapo 1:00 PM - Arrival at Olongapo, took a Victory Liner bus going to Pasay 6:00 PM - Arrival at Pasay 7:30 PM - Arrival at Imus, Cavite
We basically went to Liwliwa on a Monday- on a morning rush hour, so we expected to experience terrible traffic and lots of hassle. Cavite and Manila traffic never seizes to disappoint us. Imagine, our 4 to 5-hour travel went up to almost 8 hours. Everything paid off, though, once we got to Liwliwa since we almost had the place to ourselves.
I didn't get to reserve a room for the four of us, but we went and talked to the locals. We also roamed around to find a good spot and we ended up at Kapitan's Liwa. There are only a few inns and hostels that are open and available at the time since they usually have no guests on Mondays. The food outlets and canteens though almost lost all of their stock as tourists swarmed the place the previous weekend, so we were only left with a few options, but still good options, nonetheless. Below is the breakdown of our budget per person:
SAMPLE BUDGET
780 - Transportation (depends on where you'll come from) 500 - Accommodation 400 - Surfing lesson 300 - Food and beverages ________________________________ 1, 980/head
HOW TO GET THERE
Primary route: Victory Liner Bus Terminal Cubao/Pasay/Monumento - Iba bound > drop off at San Felipe
Alternate route: Victory Liner Cubao/Pasay/Monumento > Olongapo > drop off at San Felipe
It would cost around Php. 285.00 from Victory Liner Pasay terminal to San Felipe, Zambales. Take the bus going to Iba. Ask the driver to drop you off at Bubolan Elementary school or San Felipe Municipal Hall. You can also take any bus going to Olongapo and from there take another bus going to San Felipe. The alternate route proves to be faster and cheaper based on our experience as there weren't many long stop-overs, but there were many chance passengers. Also, we're the ordinary bus type of gang so we opted for the alternate route when we left Liwliwa.
When you drop off at Bubolan Elementary School or San Felipe Municipal Hall, you'll be able to see a tricycle terminal on the other side of the road. To get around Liwliwa, you'll need to ride tricycles which will cost around Php. 30.00 to Php. 40.00 depending on your destination. Simply tell them which hostel or inn you'd like to go to.
WHERE TO STAY
When you look online for accommodations available at Liwliwa, you'll get the idea that it's not that hard to find one that will suit your preferences. There are plenty of luxurious hotels, humble hostels and comfortable inns to choose from, but we got ourselves a room good for 4 at Kapitan's Liwa for Php. 2,000.00. It was pretty chilly so we opted for the room that doesn't have an AC, but it can get really hot in the summer they say. They have a few air-conditioned rooms, though, good for 2 for Php. 2, 000.00. It's best to contact them via Facebook, but since we went YOLO, we booked walk-in since they have minimal reservations during weekdays.

POINTS OF INTEREST:
I went to Liwliwa for the Agoho trees and its surfing spot, so needless to say, we went surfing. We got our instructors from Kila-Bot, just beside Kapitan's Liwa. They're very friendly and will treat you like they're training you to really surf. They will make you feel like you're a local- like you belong to that place. Above everything else, they help the groms in the area with their surfing needs. An hour of surfing lesson costs Php. 400.00, but if you'd like to surf on your own, you can rent a board for either half a day or whole day. Simply ask the instructors or surf schools' caretakers.
Scared to go deep in the sea? Try Skimboarding. It's another boardsport, but unlike surfing, you use a skimboard to glide across the water's surface approaching the incoming wave. Apart from surfing and skimboarding, skate boarding is also a thing in Liwliwa. There are places where you can skate like DK's Pit Bowl/Good Karma and Board Culture just in case the waves wouldn't get in your favor.
Another activity that is sought after in Liwliwa is star gazing. During off-peak, look closely and you'll be able to see the Milky Way with your naked eye. I wished I brought my DSLR that time!
Some hostels offer tours so you might want to talk to the locals especially those in your chosen accommodation if they offer tours around the area. We weren't able to do the Falls tour because we opted to chill by the beach and talk about our frustrations while we drink beer.

WHERE TO EAT
We only had to eat thrice in our entire stay so we made the most out of those. Even with that in mind, we were still able to find places that offer affordable but delicious treats. I spent around Php. 300.00 for 3 meals, but the food there can go as low as Php. 39.00. We went to Villa Santos and had Sinigang and Kare-Kare. What we really enjoyed was our food trip at Cosmic Pares. They had just opened and were still experimenting on their menu. We tried their sisig, pares, chicken wings, and beef mami. I'd have to say that their mami is the most sulit food to order. You can get it for just Php. 39.00. We also had our beers at Cosmic Pares, but bought a few more at Villa Santos.
The next morning, we had our breakfast at Mommy Pheobe's. It's a zero-waste canteen/sari-sari store which has almost everything- from tea bags to chocolates to pancit, pasta, rice meals, pancakes, ice cream, stickers and even bamboo straws, which I, by the way, got for Php. 35.00.
NOTES
We actually spent most of our time marveling at the beauty of the Zambales mountain range, its lively shores and the majestic agoho trees while drinking our beers. If you'd like to enjoy the serenity of this place, visit Liwliwa on a weekday, specifically Monday. Tourists usually leave by the end of Sunday to go back to their works.
Reduce your trash. Business entities in Liwliwa are starting to participate in the zero-waste movement. Helping them is helping the environment and thus helping you enjoy its wonders.
Give the groms (kids practicing surfing) support and compliments whenever possible. The surfing community in the Philippines is relatively small, but mind you, they're strong. However, the groms need to feel that they are being supported even by non-surfing people to inspire and drive them to be better at what they do.
Don't collect/keep sand and stones. Imagine if there will be 3, 000 people visiting Liwliwa and all of them would take a stone or a handful of sand. Yep. It wouldn't be good.
Take it all in. Refrain from constantly being on your phone and just be in that moment. After all, traveling is most felt and appreciated in the absence of the comfort of our own devices.

DOH sets guidelines for non-pro league bubbles
#PHnews: DOH sets guidelines for non-pro league bubbles
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) has released a memorandum circular regarding sports events not under the sanction of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
According to the circular dated Feb. 18, a copy of which was obtained by the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday, club leagues that are considered to be “de jure amateur" or where players were only paid allowances, can play on in a bubble setting provided that they "shall have a national government agency (NGA) sponsoring the conduct of the activity."
The Philippine Superliga (PSL) and the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) mainly benefitted from the release of the DOH circular as they are set to play inside separate bubbles in Subic Bay.
The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority will oversee both leagues' bubbles.
The memo also said the leagues must assure that "the LGU (local government unit) where the sports bubble is conducted or the sponsoring NGA shall take full accountability in monitoring and oversight of the sports bubble and the management of possible Covid-19 outbreak following the sports bubble/event."
The circular also states that the amateur sports bubbles must first be approved by the regional inter-agency task force and, like the pro league bubbles, be "compliant with the minimum public health standards set forth by this order and all other applicable government rules and regulations."
Among the minimum health standards placed are the minimum number of days for bubble training, which is 14; the transportation route is strictly from the hotel to the playing venue and vice versa; the formation of a "bubble central oversight committee"; the limit of the bubble participants regardless of their designation, which is 100; the requirement that everyone in the bubble must stay there for 14 days; and that no one from the general public would be allowed entry to watch the games live.
"Violation on the provisions of this order shall be ground for the termination of the sports bubble and penalties as applicable," the DOH memo said.
The memo also noted, "Those governed by PSC and GAB shall continue to follow PSC-GAB-DOH Joint Administrative Order No. 2020-0001."
The PSL opens its 2021 season with the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup this weekend, while the MPBL concludes its long postponed season with the knockout semifinals on March 5 and the national finals afterward.
'Everything is in order'
On the PSL beach volley event, PSL chairman Philip Juico on Tuesday said it is now all systems go for the tournament.
"Everything is in order. There are certain kinks to be ironed, but the event is pushing through and the teams are ready," Juico said in the online Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.
The eight teams participating in the PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup are set to arrive in Olongapo by Wednesday (Feb. 24)
Ginio Panganiban, PSL's director for beach volleyball, described how the bubble would look like.
He first said the participants will first undergo saliva testing by the Olongapo chapter of the Philippine Red Cross.
"After the test, diretso na sila sa (they will go straight to the) hotel, where they will be quarantines for 24 hours. Once the negative result comes out, then that's the time they will be transferred to their designated twin sharing room," said Panganiban, who is already in Olongapo.
Following the end of its recent broadcasting tie with TV5 and its ongoing negotiations with GMA, the matches will not be aired on national television, but they will be streamed on YouTube and Instagram. (PNA)

I celebrated my 23rd birthday last January 8. Ever since I turned twenty, I've been wanting to celebrate my birthday alone. Like go to a park, visit a museum, maybe a hotel staycation or treat myself with a fancy dinner and have some wine and steak. Something like that. But for some reason I was really never able to do it. And this year, I finally made it happen. Some might think I'm nuts because who wants to be alone on their birthday right? It was fun though, I had a great time and still enjoyed my birthday adventure.
So, for my 23rd birthday, I decided to go at Crystal Beach Resort in San Narciso, Zambales. I wanted to take the first trip which is at 5am but unfortunately, I didn't make it. I was filming myself over and over because I wanted to compile them and make a video. I arrived at the bus station around 5:02am and the 5am bus was about to leave already and can no longer accommodate people as it was full. So I ended up taking the 7am bus instead. The fare costs 310 pesos from Cubao to San Narciso. And it takes about 4 hours before you get there. I usually sleep during trips but it was so cold in the bus that I was not able to sleep. I'm glad I didn't because I was able to see the view along the way and it was majestic! It's nice to see a different kind of view other than the buildings in the city. It was a breath of fresh air.
After four hours on the road I finally got there. I made a reservation over the phone 2 days before and have deposited half the total amount. I availed their 750php camping package. It already includes the tent rental and 250php worth of consumable food and drinks. They also provide a banig and pillow for you to use. Just bring extra cash because there will be a 500php security deposit which is refundable upon check-out. Check in time is 2pm, I got their around 11am and waited for 2 more hours before I got to my tent. You can roam around the area take pictures or stay in their restaurant while waiting. Their rooms and tents are named after bible verses. Their dining hall is called “King Solomon”, my tent's name was Liam 1. The front desk personnel was very nice and accommodating, actually all their staff is.
As soon as I got into my tent I fixed my things and started taking photos. I had no one with me to take pictures so I relied on my handy monopod and phone's camera self timer. I found two camping areas, Kampsite 1 & 2. They also had these swing ropes made of rubber wheels. There are a lot of shower areas and a venue where you can play billiards. It was already a Sunday when I went there so there isn't much crowd. I was also lucky enough because they had a movie night that day. They played a movie and had banig and pillows where you could sit. They also had an open bar beside it.
I had a simple birthday dinner and ordered a Salisbury Steak and a Garden Salad. I also had some ripe mango shake. The food was good. I just find them a little too pricey. You can cook your own food and bring drinks so you wouldn't have to spend much there's just a corresponding corkage fee that you need to pay. There are other activities that you can do there. They have surf lessons, kayaking, frisbee, darts, ping-pong, log climbing and trekking, etc.
It was a really fun experience and memorable. Definitely one for the books. I was sitting by the shore, journaling and looking at the sea which is such a calm and relaxing feeling. I feel like some sort of a renewed person after this trip. I got more motivated and determined to do things. This is just the start of my travel adventures. Looking forward for more journeys to come! :-)
Leaving here some tips and how to’s. Hope it helps! :)
How to get there:
1. Ride a bus in Cubao (Victory Liner) bound to Iba, Zambales. Tell the driver to drop you of at San Narciso. The earliest bus leaves at 5am with 2 hours interval. You can also ride a bus going to Olongapo if you don’t want to wait that long and then from Olongapo take a bus bound to Iba.
2. Take a tricycle and tell the driver that you’re going to Crystal Beach. (There are signage as soon as you drop off the bus, so you won’t get lost)
* if you’re going back to Manila there are no direct bus going to Cubao so you have to go to Olongapo first then from there ride a bus going to Cubao or Pasay
Total Expenses:
Bus fare (Cubao - San Narciso) - 310php x 2 = 620php
Tricycle - 30php/head x 2 = 60php
Camping Package (Inclusive of 250php worth food and drinks) = 750php
Total: 1430 pesos

(Ayutthaya)
(Khao Yai)

(Kanchanaburi)

(Kuala Selangor)

📸 by @redbagjourney ・・・ . . 🏝️ Have you ever heard Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, the world’s largest salt flat. Well, this one is in Malaysia!! This place - not a beach, it's in the middle of the Straits of Malacca Sea, offers a breathtaking seascape of endless sea, mirroring the skies above. . . . . Where: An hour away from Kuala Lumpur, it's in Pekan Lama Kuala Selangor. And a 30-minute boat ride from the Kuala Selangor. . . . . How to join the tour: You need to book the tour in advance, the seats are limited . . Accommodation: Most people will go back to KL, but since we wanted to feel the weekend gateway vibes, so we decided to stay 1 night (it's more: I decided and they followed 😆😆) While there are no hotels to stay on or near the beach, accommodation at home stays can be found through AirBnB / Booking.com / Agoda (I found the homestays through Facebook and it was direct contact with the host , so no tax, cleaning fees whatsoever) . . . What to do: Take pictures la, what else 😁😁 We can't swim here and it's recommended to wear bright colourful shirts. When the tide is perfect, a stretch of sand bar emerges from the waters, rendering the shallow waters of the island to reflect the clear blue skies. The tour guide will prepare some props (umbrellas, crocodile or dinosaur toys) . . . . If you read some blogs, some people failed in getting the water reflection, well, we were so lucky, we had the best tour agent + photographer, Ms. Vivian, she really knew how to get great shots. . . . . . #malaysiatrulyasia #discoverSelangor #skymirror #travelling #travelphotography #igtravel #darlingescapes #traveldiary #simplyadventure #wanderlust #travelokamy #flashesofdelight #welltravelled #lifeofadventure #openmyworld #mytinyatlas #travelinbetween #girlsthatwander #willjourney #worldcaptures #travelawesome #girlslovetravel #athomeintheworld #passportready

(Bukit Tinggi)
Sekeping Serendah

Hidden Valley Springs

Inflatable Island

Tanay

10 Undiscovered Places in the Philippines
1. Pillila windmill farm, Rizal
Why travel for 10 hours for Bangui Ilocos if Pililla Rizal has their own wind farm? No need to travel that far to see it. Pillila Windfarm is just three hours away from Manila. Amazing view of Laguna de Bay can be seen from the top of the hills through Pililla wind farm. It is one of great place in Rizal that is worth to visit. It is also one of the instagrammable places to visit near Manila. I cannot help myself but to marvel the beauty of these amazing windmills. I have never been to Ilocos and I have never seen their windfarm upclose so seeing a gigantic windmills here in Pilliia is nothing more but mesmerizing. It is very interesting to note that the company behind the Pililla Windfarm is the same company that operates the windmills in Bangui, Ilocos Norte. When you visit here don’t forget to wear your comfy clothes and shoes because you need to walk uphill to see the wonderful windmills and the amazing view. It’s very windy up there so it’s better to not bring any umbrella. There are several stores there who sells souvenirs such as a wood crafted windmill, t-shirt, pins and ref magnet so don’t forget to buy one!
2. Caleruega Church, Nasugbu, Batangas
I attended a wedding here at first I didn’t know this place or heard about it, that’s why I Wonder why they want to held their wedding there. Caleruega is 4 hours’ drive from Manila. As for me, it would be my first time to see Caleruega, which is located in the Nasugbu, Batangas. The church is surrounded with well-maintained and beautiful gardens with different kinds of plants and flowers thanks to the cool, mild climate and fertile soils. The Caleruega is a place for relaxation, meditation, and being closer to nature and God. The people who live there believe that if you are “close to nature you are closer to God”. That’s, why Caleruega is a popular choice for weddings. Don’t forget to wear a rubber shoes or flats because you need to walk uphill stairs to get through the church. But once you get there the long walk is worth it! The view is superb so don’t forget to bring your camera! Tip: You better eat before you go there because there are no restaurant inside or store. Bringing outside food is allowed and you can rent some tables with tents at the garden but make sure to clean it as you go and throw all your trash on the proper garbage cans.
3. Camayan Beach Resort, Subic Freeport Zone
Since I was a kid my family always go to Subic on summer vacation or if we have a time to go out of town Subic is always our choice. When I think about Subic the things that comes to my head is Duty free, Casinos, Lot of foreigners, Zoobic Safari, Ocean Adventure & a very strict road policies. Don’t forget a lot of checkpoints. A LOT. I didn’t know that there is a clean and amazing beach inside the Freeport zone. To be honest the beaches outside Subic at Olongapo is not that clean and very populated. That’s why when we are going there we prefer to stay in a hotel inside the Freeport zone. But when we found out about this beach resort near Ocean Adventure we didn’t think twice to book and stay there for 3 days. It’s a 5-6 hours’ drive from manila via SCTEX. When we got there I had nothing but praises from the comfort of our hotel room to the good customer service we felt from the staff and a good view from our hotel room. Camayan Beach Resort is your ideal vacation away from Manila's chaotic crowd. The Resort is so peaceful and not crowded. Good place to unwind. It’s a bit long drive from the city where there are a lot of stores so you better buy everything you need before going to the resort. If you want to take your breakfast, lunch or dinner they have resident restaurant called The Reef where you can order delicious food in reasonable price. Oh! Don’t forget to always lock your rooms because there a lot of monkeys there, so staffs always put signs to make sure you close your doors often. I wish though you don't get turned off to these gentle animals because having them means you're in a place where nature is still healthy. Nights there are super cozy. They have live bands at night so you can drink or eat beside the beach while listening to the performers. My overall stay there is really amazing! Tip: Never leave Camayan Beach Resort without catching the sunrise or sunset! It's a marvelous feeling.
4. Laiya, Batangas
There are a lot of beaches in Batangas and Laiya is one of them. Just 3-4 hours drive from manila and you will experience a relaxing sight of coconut tress and a long stretch of white sand beach where you can find various private resorts to choose from. The sand is not as white as the well-known Boracay but this is so far the best alternative if you prefer white beach somewhere near Manila. We go there on low season because the water is much clearer. During the peak season some parts look polluted especially in public areas where it is very crowded. What’s good in here is that the waves are not that big so it looks really safe for adults to swim around while the kids should never be left without supervision. You can rent “bahay kubos” or tents there in affordable price. Tip: You better take a mini grocery shopping before you go there!
5. The Greenery, Bulakan
My cousins are looking for a place to chill and to bond when they discover this place. They offer various rooms. They even have a room for 8 persons, so if your barkada or family wants to go somewhere near to escape the busy metro this is the best place you can go to. It is only 2 hours away from Manila. The Greenery is an American themed resort and events place in Baliwag, Bulacan that features infinity pools, lighthouse, garden, pavilions, floating gazebo and more. It is an ideal place for pictorials, company outing, team building or any special occasion. The place is very cozy, starting from the American inspired houses and barn. The infinity pool is amazing. Don’t forget to catch the beautiful sunset from the infinity pool. They offer Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you don’t have a problem to go out the village and somewhere to eat. Nights swimming there is the best! The water is warm and there are a live bands there every night.
5. Crisostomo
It’s Valentines when me and my boyfriend dine here. It’s a bit crowded but still a romantic fine dining place to dine in. Crisostomo Restaurant features delicious Filipino foods with a twist. It’s not the regular Filipino restaurant that you can see in almost every corner in the metro. Most of its menu items are named after characters from Rizal’s novels. The interior there is very cozy and solemn that’s why it’s best for a quiet get together with your family and friends. The staffs are nice and very accommodating. The service is fast. We ordered a sinigang gomez which is a pork sinigang on sampalok, Adobo Damaso a Twice cooked chicken and pork adobo topped with adobo flakes, kesong puti and kamote, Liwayway which is a Daing na bangus with crispy garlic and Leonor a red wine sangria. The food is amazing it’s a bit pricey but it’s reasonable because the food is delicious and the serving is big. They also have a live band there which is composed with one who play the piano and the one who play violin. It’s all package! A nice resturant with a nice ambiance, a delicious food, accommodating staffs and a very romantic music playing at the back. What more can you ask for?
7. Ice Flower, Sm North Edsa
I never thought that there is a big Korean dessert parlor at the Sm North. It is located at The Block near the entance at the parking lot so it’s not that noticeable. My bestfriend brought me here when she found out that I never try a Snow Bingsu or what they called a Korean halo-halo. The place is very big and the ambiance is amazing. The place is so colourful and the chairs are super comfy. We ordered a choco brownie bingsu which is very good. The price is bit high for dessert like that but I think it’s reasonable because the serving of the small bingsu is already good for 2-3 people. Oh! Don’t ever go home not until you try to play in their indoor snow machine.
8. Shorthorn Pares
This pares in Project 8 is serving a butok batok bulalo bone. It’s near to our house that’s why whenwe heard about it we already go there and try the talk of town Beef Pares paired with a creamy melt in your mouth bone marrow delight! It is a “carinderia” type paresan. The area is a bit small so you must go there early because lot of people from our barangay is falling line there just to try the famous hb pares.
9. Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, Mother Ignacia, Quezon City
I held my pre debut shoot here because the place is not crowded and the interior and the ambiance here is really pretty. Besides the place their food and cupcakes are a must try! It's like every little girl's tea party dream brought to life. The store has a lot of nice furniture in it. There a lot Daphne chairs around the store. They are so pretty and comfy! The place is very dreamy it is a good place to make chikas with your amigas or bffs!
10. Funnside Ningnangan, Guiguinto, Bulakan
My father is from bulakan that’s why he knows the delicious and affordable restaurant around bulacan. The first time my father brings me here I got so excited to experience to pick the food you want them to cook for you. The foods are literally infront of you and you will get a big plate and pick the food you want and pay it. Funnside Ningnangan is a self-service restaurant located at Sto. Cristo, Guiguinto, Bulacan. Ningnangan is a Kapampangan word that means ihaw or grill. They are offering grilled seafoods, meat, vegetables, noodles, desserts and many more for a very affordable price.
