there is often this little devil dude (i think around the height of an average human's knees or so?) depicted beside namira's likeness at shrines –– while this is likely something, someone, in particular (to expound on at a late date because i haven't decided on the particulars) i think it's also utilized as a symbol for the fact that namira breeds a particular style of worshipper; something extremely loyal to a fault. she often plays this sort of caretaker role for many of those who follow her, who are often those shunned by society (again, beggars are canonically blessed by her, as are those with disease, those disregarded by society). she is deep and consuming with her love for those who worship her. she moves mountains for them, she protects them from evildoers. this in turn calls for a special sort of relationship between her and them, one which you don't necessarily see at least as often or to the same degree with other daedra. patron saint of lost causes...
#i think it's common for many thieves and those who maneuver undergound to#be loyal to nocturnal (namira's sister and goddess of thieves and also#darkness but in a different sense conceptually than mira)#but when it comes to those who have no other choice but to live in the#sewers ... those who are left behind because they are ailing and unwell...#for all of these people she is a mother. a guardian.#hilariously so perhaps because simultaneously she adores suffering#she will protect her own to their very end but the end itself is not#something she considers as fear-worthy - an end for a#worshipper of namira is a new beginning. they are consumed and#made into their next metamorphosis. fodder etc.#in a way that makes i think the concept of death slightly less terrifying for#those who follow her. in an odd way
