We need to start hyping up strangers for really specific things. There's really nothing like going out of your way to tell the old man at the hardware store that he's your favorite employee because he makes it so easy to buy bolts or telling the batista that she found her perfect color of lipstick.

I went to my brother's junior high basketball game and had some of the best popcorn I ever had in my life so I went back to the counter and asked who made it. They were like "Oh yeah Kelsie insists on making the popcorn. She says she does it the best." And I said, "She's right" pointed to Kelsie and said, "You made this? This is delicious! This is the best popcorn. Wow!" And whatever happens to Kelsie for the rest of her life, she'll always remember that some strange woman told her she was the queen of the concession stand.

The lady at the Japanese restaurant speaks very little English but she told me "you're so cute" and I could tell she really meant it. She's the only one I believe. I'm gonna ride that high forever. May we all be boueyed by the packing peanuts of compliments from a thousand strangers.
