#be aware of the issues and alternatives and use that knowleged

I feel like every like. 8 months. There's a discourse cycle where someone declares something that is not great hut pretty common ontologically evil and morally reprehensible, people respond with equally insane and hyperbolic defenses, and then Not Doing That Thing becomes a badge of moral superiority that gets used to brow beat the people who do this thing into "just admitting" they think they are better than everyone/lazy/don't care about other people. And then a few months after this has died down you find out the loudest people proclaiming the indefensability of the thing also do the thing. And I think it would overall be more productive to focus on explaining how and why the thing isn't great and what people can do to reduce their usage of the thing and like. Promoting the thing you want them to do instead as a good and productive and exciting thing. But that's not as much fun as internet moral superiority outrage fests I guess.
#also i think its like. incredibly bad for#a specific subset of mental health issues that are#fairly common in progressive circles#for fairly common mundane aspects of society#to be declared evidence of personal moral sickness#if you engage in them#seemingly at random#like we did this with air travel a while ago cmon#be aware of the issues and alternatives and use that knowleged#to make informed and better decisions#is much better than hearing someone is going on vacation#and accusing them of a bunch of shit#yknow.
