Ngl I still think about Flowers in the Attic all the time because of course the entire shock factor even when you haven’t read the book or watched the lifetime special is about the incest. But in all honesty, the incest isn’t all about the physicality or sexual feelings. It’s pervasive in ways that you normally wouldn’t fathom. It is etched into the very formation of the family to the point you wonder if Catherine ever even had a chance of escaping it in the first place. By the end of Catherine’s perspective, the beginning of the first book will not the same at all. They never had a chance. Corrine was a victim bound to become an abuser. Most likely to Chris. The lack of sunlight isn’t what made the twins short. I’m avoiding spoilers because I highly recommend everyone to read the series.
#mine#flowers in the attic#mind you this post isn’t even scratching the surface of how deeply I want to talk about it#bc they don’t tell you that Catherine is fighting and Chris tries yet ultimately succumbs when he is a panicked state#it’s not that he’s actually in love but that he’s been groomed into it. if it wasn’t Cathy it would be Corrine. straight up
